Just A Day

DeathAnother day in the jam room.

1. Dave, I know you said at the beginning of the whole Panic Channel thing that you would consider playing some of your TNO solo stuff on the upcoming tour. Do you still feel that way?

This band has really taken on a life of it's own so the idea of doing other songs from TNO is highly unlikely, although we might be able to learn a couple, "just in case".

2. Perhaps Dave drinks the blood of virgins?

Well, they weren't virgins, I can assure you!

3. With Carmen's blessing - Jessica Alba or Halle Berry?

Alba, Alba, Alba...

4. Hey Papi! Was wondering, what's "stuck" in your CD player as of the late?

I'm more of an iTunes "shuffle" kind of guy. Last three songs played were:

Ladies Night - Kool & The Gang
Ghost Town - The Specials
The Seeker - The Who

5. I saw a question were you say that you use 2 delays (long and short) how do you use them?

I don't mean to sound like a smart ass here, but I literally use one for long delay and one for short delay.

Helloooo... just wondering if you were at all a fan of The Kings of Leon or The Strokes? Or... have you heard of the British band 'Razorlight'? They sure are kicking up a storm over here. And they're actually pretty amazing.

Posted by: Peter at February 24, 2005 10:30 AM

Dave, how the heck are ya?
Was your number in Paris' sidekick?
I hear that's the new barometer for 'hot'..

That answer to the long and short delay was almost as good as the playing only one guitar at a time...

hey Dave and family

Dave, i was wondering if you and the rest of Jane's ever discussed a JA Greatest Hits album? is there a possibility of 1 in the near future?

kyle

Dave, interesting picture, what exactly is it of and did you create it yourself?

Tim

Posted by: Tim at February 24, 2005 10:45 AM

Yo Dave. I'd just like to ask what special effects/techniques you were using in the solo (if you can call it a solo) of "One Big Mob" on the One Hot Minute album. It really sounds like the guitar is crying.

And another question, if you don't mind... I love your music, and I got the chance to see Jane's when you guys came to London 2 years ago (I was at right at the front of the pit, too; it kicked ass). Anyway, which album in which you have been involved would you say you're most proud of?

Cheers,

Hey Dave,

Just a quick question. Has Perk ever considered using more cowbell? Cuz I got a fever and the only cure is more cowbell!!!

Posted by: Pinhead at February 24, 2005 11:19 AM

Hi Dave, new to your site, long time fan, saw Jane open for Love and Rockets years ago at Tipitina's in New Orleans, glad you made it. Here's something you might have some insight into. My 14 year old son has a punk band so being the dutiful dad I picked up a 16 track fostex digital recorder and started recording. With digital recorders so cheap and internet available as promotion/distribution avenue are studios and record labels going to go the way of the Betamax? Have a great day.

Dave -

LOVE IT WHEN YOU ARE A SMART ASS!!

Love ya whatever way you want to be . . .

Hi Dave & friends,

Well, Luiz, you have your answer!

I'm just chillin' at work (literally and figuratively)... waiting for (and dreading) the predicted snow to start. Snow is beautiful, but not when you have to drive in it. (Ugh.) I want Spring to arrive already!

Enough ranting... have a lovely day!

Sweet mother of God!! Are you doing what I think you´re doing in that pic??? (and of course I don´t mean the coffin one)

________________________________________________________

On a slightly different note...

Here´s one of my favourite quotes and it´s funny as hell AND attributed to YOU, Dave:

"I don´t care if there´s hunger in the world, I just care about how my hair looks"

I was thinking about the Tsunami Benefit Cobcert you played and all... What has changed since the time when you said those words? Would say "biceps" instead of hair now...? (J/K !)

much love from
Luiz

Denise i hear ya! i have to make a trip out from suffolk to nassau today...not feeling it.

and to the question about the guitar effects in one hot minute...if this is what i think you're referring to...then it's an actual baby crying...not dave's guitar...it's his younger brother gabriel. i hope that helps.

much love to everyone

"Dude Looks Like A Lady"-
you were right Tasha. Thanks for reminding me to post the answer. I figured it was "Livin on the Edge." I always thought Steven Tyler kinda looked like a chic. His mouth is kinda like Julia Roberts but what do I know?

Anyone ever heard of the sex act called "shrimpin"-its the grossest thing Ive heard since bukkake! Man hotel workers know some gross stuff, must be some crazy stuff goin on behind those doors. Ahhh, shrimpin-still makes me cringe!

Hi Dave, was just reading in L.A. Times that Indie radio is in midst of ownership change..Does that mean that Camp Freddy Radio is going to be Radio Romantica?

Is T.K. going to have to cut his hair?
Are you and Billy going to have to play 8 songs an hour?

hey dave..
how do you feel about the new bands that are out today like good charlotte, simple plan and yellowcard? they all seem fake and contrived by the record comapanies. do you think rock music has hit an all time low in terms of new talent? or do you think it's just the difference between genuine talent and the shuck-n-jive shit?

Hi all,

If this is cool with Dave with regards to clearance, I have made a Camp Freddy Radio Player Application that streams The Panic Channel Radio direct to your desktop so you are always connected and can listen whenever you feel like it. It works like Winamp, Windows Media Player etc except you cant play your own music. Only stream Camp Freddy Radio. PC version only for the minute but I can make a Mac version too if anyone is interested.

To anyone who wants to respond:
I don't remember if this was asked before but what does everyone think of Head leaving the band koRn to find God?

Posted by: Angel at February 24, 2005 05:27 PM

Yes Dave!Im so stoked for the new material!
Anyways Hi Angel, I thought that was really random of Head to leave the band.As for his reasons I respect them because everyone in some point in their lives contemplate about God or some higher issues they experienced and may actually need to remove themselves from their surroundings to really come to a full conclusion about it.I wonder how long he has been thinking of this or what made him finally want to pursue it but thats a personal matter and i wish him good luck in the future.

"I don't remember if this was asked before but what does everyone think of Head leaving the band koRn to find God?"

What a coinkeedink... I actually found God a few minutes ago... That sneaky lil' deity was hiding in my sock drawer, believe it or not!! Someone should tell Head.

Seriously, though, I guess if that's what he wants to do, and it's not just PR spin, good for him... I guess even rock stars sometimes need a change of pace, just like the rest of us...

Posted by: Denise at February 24, 2005 05:50 PM

Hey Dave-Just wanted to say hi, and that I love you AND Carmen!! Carmen's pretty much my idol, please tell her that I look up to her and think shes so beautiful. I often try to make my hair and makeup like hers, I've been told I look somewhat like her =) K I'll admit I'm not much of a rocker, but I do think you are very talented, and awesome at what you do! Are you ever going to do the show "Til Death Do Us Part" again? If not, haha I dont blame ya, but I watched it all the time!!

Posted by: Talia at February 24, 2005 06:58 PM

Seb,

Regarding "One Big Mob"

I believe I recall a long time ago (Dave was still a Pepper and One Hot Minute was just released) Dave had done an aol real-time chat. One of the questions asked was what that sound was. If I recall correctly, Dave had played a recording of his little brother's crying (Gabriel was a wee one then =P), rewound it (the screeching), then replayed it (thus a repeat of the crying).

Unless you're actually referring to the guitar, but that sounds nothing like crying (to me anyway).

Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.

Awesome pic of you and Slash. Any chance there is one of you, Slash and Jerry? So far I have only seen one and its on a paid publicity site.

Posted by: Adam at February 24, 2005 07:22 PM

"I don't care if there's hunger in the world, I just care how my hair looks" ????

Did I miss something when did this one come out? That must be a blast from the past for Dave. Prolly sarcasm from his TNO days considering his recent benefit concerts. I've had days like that myself where I could have said something stupid like that too. LOL

Posted by: Pinhead at February 24, 2005 07:34 PM

Slash. He had a Kerrang answer readers' questions a couple of weeks ago. And I have a question I am dying to ask him. Slaps head. I didn't even think of trying to do it through Kerrang.
He may remember this UK show. The Diddy Men. They come from "Notty Ash." Ken Dodd's creation. The man with the tickling stick.
"Slash, I love you, but I just have to say it with the hat and the hair, and the rest of you sticking out from under that, you look like a diddy man. (One of my fave shows when I was about 3 or 4 years old, so that certainly isn't a slight). Was Ken Dodd an inspiration to you?" Pass it onto Slash someone please? Begging.

Love

"how come John Frusciante came back from "drug hell" looking a lot worse and you came back from it looking EVEN better?" Question from Luiz. (Hi Luiz, nice to have you back!)

I'm going to twist that around a bit, and say I find Fru more attractive now than before. Ask around..I'm probably driving ppl crazy going on about him. :D

Dave is sizzling hot, definately. And what's worried me even more now, is someone posted that Dave should have played Wolverine, and I have a wierd thing for Wolverine too. Yes, the comic book hero. It's not a real person, I know.

Posted by: ylais at February 24, 2005 11:08 PM

Dave, you have not been a member of RHCP for quite a while, why do people still care about John Frusciante?
We all that you made out better in the long run with Carmen.

Posted by: Will E Bert at February 25, 2005 12:51 AM

Will E Bert. I shall answer your question as to why "people" care about Frusciante. I'll answer it for myself.
I'm been a fan of the RHCP for a long time, a long long time, and I still am, and of Dave and Fru. It is possible to like both of them, and what they both have done. That's all. It's very simple.
We're just yapping on here. Just yapping, and having a joke or two.

While Carmen is adorable. I'm a heterosexual woman, and if I had a choice (and it can't be Dave, he's taken) I'll have one of the men. (it's just fantasy anyway :P )
