Day 6

Hobo2Day 6. I feel like I am a crazy person. I have no sense of time. I had to take a 2 hour nap yesterday at the studio. These 12 hour days are really starting to melt into one long day. You know when you've played a video game for too long and you finally go outside, you can still see everything digitally? It's kind of like that without the outside part. (One of these days I am going to post without a spell check first. You wouldn't believe just how crazy these things look before I post them.) Perk and Chaney are officially done now and it's all about Steve's vocals and guitar and my guitars. A lot of fun but at times a recipe for loss of perspective and insanity. After eight hours of playing the same song, you can start to see all the micro organisms that live underneath the skin and just how dirty and full of disease every body really is. I know they are trying to get me, but it will never work cause I am on to them. (OK, maybe it's not like that at all, but I figure, point made.) Tomorrow, the band is all gonna go out to a Grammy party with our wives. That should be fun. I hope I can remember how to interact with people. What is it again? You say some shit and then they say some stuff back? How hard can that be? My wife is so cool that she is going to allow me to spend Sunday with her and take her out for our "Valentine's Day" as I will be deep in the studio again on Monday. She doesn't give me grief about stuff like that. It is nice to have that kind of support at home.

1. Wild question here, meteor's gonna strike earth and you have 2 weeks to live. Do you pick up the guitar at all?

Probably not... My first move would be to pick up the phone and call Domino's. "Yeah, I'll take two large, extra cheese... "

2.
De Niro or Pacino? De Niro
Beasties or NWA? Beasties (Because they just have more material.)
Pepsi or Coke? Coke
CD or Vinyl? CD
Mac or PC? Mac
Red or Blue? Red
Road Runner or Coyote? Road Runner
Mustang or Corvette? Mustang (The old ones)

3. Hey Dave - were you ever into weed? I know yer drug-free, but what's your feelings on it.

"I once smoked a joint at a party, I tried to take my pants off over my head." - Woody Allen

4. Also wondered if you were going to answer my question (and someone else's) from a few days ago about your such different tastes in women, i.e.: Carmen and Messy. Thanks!!!

Well, to put matters straight, I love, love, love my wife. I don't, however, have a "type". I just really enjoy the company of strong, individual and unique people. Intelligent, interesting and charismatic. My wife is certainly all of these things. Of course a beautiful woman is a beautiful woman regardless of her vibe, but what I find most attractive is a sense of humor and a fragile heart wrapped in a shell of fierce and shocking beauty. Also, really "done up" women are somewhat self involved, which is always good because it allows you to be able to do your own thing.

5. Work, Coffee and working out. Do you ever sleep? Do you consider yourself a workaholic?

I suppose I do.

Also did that guy that called on CFR ever get his signed picture of your wife.

We sent it out yesterday to Nathan, yes.

Just throwing a few out there for the weekend:

1) Did you end up modifying or changing the ending of "She Won't Last"? (I really dig the jam at the end that you played at the 2nd (I think) Dragonfly Show.)

2) Did you get your Buick back from West Coast Customs? (If so, can you someday post a pic of the finished product at the top of your entry or maybe on the TPC community? Sorry, I'm a car nut.)

3) I know you guys are Led Zep fans, especially Chris, so I was wondering if you've ever approached Page and/or Plant to join your CF lineup?

Have a good one. -Al

PS: Shucks, I'll settle for the #2 spot =)

Hey all!
Dave, was wondering what kind of man your father is? Do you both have a lot in common, do you find that the older you get, the more you see similar characteristics? Has he always been supportive in all your ventures in life?

Listening to some Public Enemy-just one of those mornings..

Shoot!!
I forgot to ask in the last post, what do you think of Linda Perry as an artist?
Thanks!

If CF ever decided to do a song off the 1st Pretnders record, Precious, Tattooed Love Boys, The Wait ... other than Chrissy - who would be the next logical choice for vocals?

Keep going man, we all appreciate all of your efforts to make the music you do. Speaking for myself, a good set of tunes gets me through the day.

Dave,

¿How many Grammy nominations have you had in your career?
¿Kiefer Sutherland or Donald Sutherland?
¿Johnny Depp or Sean Penn?

Regarding the TDDUP DVD issue:
¿Is the problem due to other films with the same name or because WALMART will not sell it with that name?
¿Why can't MTV just sell it exclusivley on their website?

Later,
Mike from NYC

Hey Dave,
I was wondering have you ever seen Rocky Horror Picture Show? What do you think of it? And if anyone ever offered you a part in the live show would you do it? Because for some reason I could see you as Dr. Frankfurter haha!

dave,
Wondering if you've ever heard of (now defunct) Tripping Daisy, or The Polyphonic Spree. Daisy had strong Jane's influences, and I was curious...

Lovely.

I just saw them replay your wedding vows on MTV (a valentine's countdown special). Never fails to make me cry.

The love you and Carmen have inspires me.

Glad you're getting a break from the studio.

I can see several reasons for not directly tackling the "toke some herb" question. Its weird how some people it makes lazy, some people it makes paranoid, some creative, many hungry, and some it just keeps em calm and mellow. I used to puff to catch a nod when my habit got big. I can only puff at night now, otherwise I dont enjoy it as I did as a teenager. Its a great flower to grow, the only thing easier is "spider plants". You got a green thumb Dave? Now that Im sober, I stay away from the green flowers that were such a passion, and stick with spider plants and such. Still organic, and often use guano to help fertalize. Almost as enjoyeable but now its legal. In CT if you are a male methadone patient and go to jail, they will not medicate you. You kick....hard! Females do get medicated though.

Anyone from Cali ever meet Jack Herer? Is glass blowing really popular out west, its very popular here on the east coast.

Hey Dave

My friend is doing a charity concert tonight with some great local musicians ( Toronto Area ) Is there a number to call into tonight to 103 and maybe get you on the line to boost up the crowd.

I would really appreciate it

Hope you catch up on some sleep soon! I think "they're" trying to get me too. Boo!

Have a great Valentine's day with the most beautiful lady I've yet to see! You're both so lucky to have eachother. (Not like you didn't know that.) You guys are too sweet, sending Nathan his picture.

Nice pic and post. Thanks. Love is in the air 'round here. My 18-year-old and her cute foreign exchange student friend from Brazil are becoming an item. Young love is so sweet. Old love ain't so bad either. Mine made me breakfast in bed yesterday. I let him sleep late today. We are doing our "valentine" thing tomorrow as well.
*wishes love to everyone*
Have a great day family!!

Dave - my girlfriend and I would like some of your sperm. can you ask Carmen if that's ok? thanks

Posted by: cb/CityRag at February 12, 2005 12:29 PM

Are the guitar parts on this upcoming record a direct result of Dave Navarro and his acoustic sitting and creating in the quietude of his own home, or elsewhere?

Posted by: Pistol Pete at February 12, 2005 12:48 PM

cb/CityRag, I have to ask- what do you need his sperm for? Are you two trying for a baby?

Saw the beautiful picture today and it made me think - "The Beast with Two Backs." Hehe... cheers, Dave & Carmen!

bon temps,
Justin

P.S. Sending you good vibes in the next several days, Dave, take it easy, take those moments to stop and breathe, and smell those roses, I'm sure you will.
P.P.S. Any body know what time we can catch Dave on CBS tomorrow co-hosting the pre-Grammy banter??

Last time I had one of those days, is when I went on a +24hour non stop blackjack stint.

I started to see the game differently, it was surreal, I noticed things I never noticed before, and it was almost as if I was inside a game, for the last few hours I understood…

Whoa. That's some post, Dave! This is why I love coming here... your candor and unabashed honesty. I can't put into words how awesome that is.

I had no idea that rock & roll could be such hard work! LOL. You guys definitely deserve a break to clear your head. Thank God that the pain/difficulty is only temporary... Soon you guys will have a beautiful "baby" that you will be proud of and we will love.

Take care!

Hello, Dave!

Take a break, will ya? MG - you are headed for a nervous breakdown, me thinks . . .

Anyway, what was your take on Corey's interview? He did say he was coming out against Michael, but he didn't say anything really against the guy. I can see his point, that he may be charged with corrupting minors with the dirty pictures . . . but it sounded more to me like someone who wanted to be renoticed by the public.

Just would love to know your opinion.

And have a wonderful VD with Carmen!!

Always,
me

Question about the pre-show: According to the listings at TV Guide, the Grammys start at 8 and there isn't anything mentioned about a pre-show. The only place there is mention of a Grammy pre-show is on the Fuse network. Is this the one you had filmed?

i'm loving the rant about the organisms under the skin...sounds like typical sleep-deprived psychosis...been there many times myself being an insomniac and all...i've gone 48 straight hours w/o sleeping...for no particular reason...just plain ol' insomnia...oh well...i've gotten through it...much luck to you dave...i'm sure the end result will be totally worth it...and i think you know it too!

much love to everyone and a special shout out to pony...you're an awesome guy!!

Reminds me of Willy Wonka on that boat: "No signs of light are showing, so the danger must be growing. Yet the rowers keep on ROWING.........STOP!" Any oompa loompa making appearances at the studio?

Dave, Dave, Dave,

Take a deep slow breath in through your nose, out through your mouth. And again...

Now exhale more slowly than you inhale...

That is very, very good. Keep going...

Are you beginning to feel heavy and relaxed yet?

Please take care of yourself! You deserve it.

Dear Dave Navarro:

Dont let yourself get burnt out. I dont want to lecture so Ill be brief. Your making an album, are you on a time schedule? If your not, well I guess all I can tell you is slow down and make sure your enjoying yourself. If your working hard, thats totally cool and great. If your not having fun though, well you should be lovin it and should make some adjustment. Its hard to understand blogs, Im wondering "is it a hard work tired, or an Im overwhelmed and this isnt good tired?"
Regardless, carpe diem man. Sometimes its good to be tired, its never good to burn out which I doubt is the case. Have fun, do what you do best and enjoy it. You live our wildest dreams! Tear the f'n snot outta that studio man, and live your dreams.

I wrote a verse to a song -"Ill give you my thoughts, you cant have my mind....." Thats what artists do, thank you for your art.

Try to avoid vds on vd!

Dave,

Just an FYI....there is a big orange thing out floating in the blue sky....it is called the sun, and maybe you should leave the confines of the studio and check it out! I think it would make you *more* creative to take a break every now and then....you will do no good exhausted, dear boy!

I love the relationship you and Carmen seem to have....my boyfriend and I have a pretty good one ourselves, and I am eternally grateful to have it!

Sending much love to all at 6767/Panic Community/Dave and Carmen!

heya everyone!

haven't posted in a while, just moved back to sweden from the UK and have had lots to do...
a quick question to dave and a quick tip for everyone!

the question: dave, dozens of your solos take me to an other place, mentally and emotionally, but the entire three days- song really takes control over me. it's really a masterpiece.. what I would like to know is if you remember the things you had on your mind when you came up with those notes? what state of mind you were in, the vibe in the room... et cetera... I did see the footage of you when you recorded the song, but it didn't tell me much.. it would just be so cool to know what you were thinking when playing this song that has so many times made me go nuts just sitting on the bus! :)

the tip: everyone should check out http://www.mo-freek.com/thejanesbook.html , it is the diary of kevin ford, written whilst taping the three days- movie in 97...

happy valentine's day in advance y'all!

Good morning Dave, good morning family!!

1. Dave, have you ever written Carmen a song?
2. What's your favorite 'chick flick' that you and Carmen have watched together?
3. Are you two able to go out and have a romantic dinner, without being 'bothered'?
4. Is Daisy wearing red for Valentine's Day?
5. Did Steve and Riss get married?
