Day 2/Voltaire Suicide
Day 2 in the studio. Yesterday went great we tracked a new song and set up for another today. Later in the evening Tom Morrello and Nuno Bettencourt stopped by. I tell ya, that Nuno could give Jared Leto a run for his money when it comes to being handsome! God damn, that is one handsome guy! In fact, as you know, they are both amazing guitar players. Anyway, we talked about "Some Kind Of Monster" the Metallica documentary, which by the way, if you haven't seen, is for sure worth checking out. Having all come from bands that have moved on, we could all relate to the issues and themes within the film. It was really an interesting conversation. (I should have rolled DAT on it!) Today I have to go in and finish up a voice over thing for CBS before I go to work, so Steve is going to start the day off with an acoustic jam he wrote. Just acoustic and voice. It's called, "Someone Else" which is not to be confused with my acoustic and voice song, "Somebody Else". HAHAHA. I guess great minds... and all that. By the way, tomorrow, the 9th, happens to be a very special day. Two of my favorite people celebrate birthdays. Billy Morrison and Messy Stench. Happy Birthday you two! I love you both and am so grateful you are in my life.
Not too long ago I shot some pictures of my friend, Suicide Girl Voltaire. The Images are now up at The Suicide Girls. I would describe the shoot as this: Starving while looking in the window of a bakery that is closed! Oh, it was rough! She is so damn cute! Two words gentlemen: "Start Autoplay"
1. Was there an element of inferiority when playing with MJ ?
There was an element of radness!
Also, just got the word. Camp Freddy, Anaheim Pond on Feb. 18th for Tsunami Relief with... Ozzy!!!

Blue's comment brings up something I happened to be thinking this am as well... "Man, a Camp Freddy version of Unchained by Van Halen would fucking rock..."
so, it's a sign from god Dave.
Or, the coincidence of the internet anyways...
oh yeah first...

DAMN - once again - East Coast - no way to get there!
So, Dave, what is the voice over for? Don't want to miss it!
Always,
me

Cool Dave. Also. "Dead or Alive" from VH would rock also!

guess what??...I AM BACK, and badder than ever!! lol
dave and family, i missed you all!
i went on a nice romantic vacation with my girlfriend. we went to Knysna, a small town with lush mountain forests and a huge lagoon and the gorgeous sea!
An interesting fact is that J.R.R. Tolkien was born a South African and lived in Knysna. if you read The Lord Of The Rings, some of the forested mountains he described in the book he based directly on forested mountains in Knysna. i could actualy read the book and see exactly what he was describing! now, Peter Jackson did a great job, but just imagine looking and seeing exactly what he was talking about to the finest detail. AMAZING!
well, im back, and i missed you all.
cant wait to get into the swing of things again!

Dave, I listened to the interview with Eric this morning, great stuff. Eric sounds like he just loves making music, which is what it is all about.
Hey, when is the "Dave Says" One-a-Day Calendar coming out? Two personal favorites...
"The nice thing about going wireless was that when 'he' used to go on his rants, I could leave the stage and go eat a sandwich" [no disrespect meant toward PF-funny]
"The reason I probably am not in the Chili Peppers anymore is that I wasn't good at making goofy faces."
I am sure the people here could fill up 365 in a very short time.

Good morning Dave and all,
Just want to say I am relatively new here and thoroughly enjoy. I spent a few hours last night reading all the previous months posts and catching the CFR shows I missed. Great stuff.
One comment Dave- I really like the concepts of the TPC stuff in the Agency Artwork 2 section. Did the band come up with these? A friend? Very cool...

must find appropriate card!
love to my family this morning
Chinese New Year, I am a Metal Rat, what is Dave?
a Fire Horse baby
Double Fire, energy and dynamism they are hurried, daring, and restless. Fire Horses have numerous projects on the go at one time and find it hard to concentrate on detail or a methodical approach.
hmmm, nah.. that's a bunch of bull, I mean it said Metal rats are stubborn, inflexible and have strong opinions that they need to voice often...what a bunch of hooey..

Hey Dave and everyone
I've been reading here for a while now, but this is my first post.. scary ;) I think it's really great what you've got going here! More artists should do the same.
Do you have a favourite song on Trust No One?
Mine is Very Little Daylight, love the lyrics and the.. sexiness of the melody;)

Hi QQQ,
Welcome to the blog.
ALL the agency artwork was created by the people who post on this blog. THE DAVE FANS. Some of us are actually working in the art field & others are very talented amateurs. I'm wondering why people have stopped sending stuff in.
Glad you enjoyed all the great the artwork, QQQ.
I'd like to encourage the new fans here to contribute more. Traffic has been slow here lately, the fan vibe here isn't like it used to be. Just my 2 cents.
adios,

someone once asked robby kreiger(doors guitarist) what he thinks about when he's onstage playing, and he responded 'the fish in my fishtank'. my question is: what do you think about when you're onstage?

Hi Dave!
Quick question....Your latest pics show what I would call different tastes in girls compared to Carmen. Carmen is a beauty queen compared to them, yet you seem to think these girls are awesome. Can you explain the difference? Carmen is very sophisticated and just down right gorgeous. Messy and Voltaire are just way out there if you know what I mean. Why the obsession? Not trying to offend, just wondering about your thoughts. Make sure you keep that bakery closed! You can't top what you already have!

I did not forget your mom, sweet Blanca...It's funny how we are connected with that date that way..It has made you strong, and me, well, I wish I had appreciated her more while she was here, I wish she had liked me.
I love you, Blanca, you are my angel..

"Starving while looking through a bakery window that is closed" huh? I'll bet Carmen feeds you quite nicely!
But it is an interesting question as to the girls you seem to be attracted are so different from Carmen....is it because Carmen is so unique to you? And how would you feel if Carmen were taking pictures of guys like you do of girls--would you feel jealous at all?

i have a question...how come the song "easy girl" didn't make it onto TNO...i absolutely love it...it's such a good song...not that the other songs on TNO aren't great...i love them too...but i think it would've fit in nicely...just my opinion...i still love ya dave!!

it's Inge from holland with a few questions to dave, thanks in advance
1. Are there any plans to play in europe this year?
2. How do you think about vanity and how much did and does influence it your career and personal life (in your opinion)?
3. You seem to be very close with the Foo Fighters; any future plans with them?
4. What are your fears in life?
5. Is Dave Navarro your real name? if not; why did you choose to use a different name and how did you choose that name?
that'll be all for now x
Posted by: Inge at February 9, 2005 05:52 AM
Keeping in terms with the self-described "Gothic Rush", I'd like to hear some actual old Rush covered by CF or TPC. I think Steve's style, along with Perk's drums, and Dave's soaring ass guitar, and Chaney's Thunder bass would do extreme justice to Xanadu, Closer to the Heart, Trees, Working Man, A Farewell to Kings, or Something for Nothing.
Posted by: Lyn at February 9, 2005 06:39 AM
Hey Dave,
What is the best album you've ever played on?
Posted by: brian at February 9, 2005 07:42 AM
I'd go for some Blondie myself. "Atomic", "Call Me","Hanging on the Telephone".
But I could write a whole list of songs, music. I'm thinking CF there for Blondie. But hey if Steve wants to try that!!!

Hey Dave, just to let you know TPC was mentioned for like forty seconds on WCCCC, which is out of Hartford and reaches Boston. The DJ/MC commented that he was interested in ya'll and couldnt believe "a band with Dave Navarro in it wouldnt be signed on formation of the band. He mentioned your auditioning/shopping for a label-but it was all in all a positive mention!" The word is spreading, the East Coast is catchin on to some hype, always good to be mentioned." Ill let ya know when I hear more in the local media.
Mike from NYC: Ever see the video "The End"
Its a skate video produced by Tony Hawk and has great music played throughout. It was one of the first/best high budget skate film. If you havent already, check it out. Its filled with stuff like Dr. Octagon, DJ Shadow, n Portishead. I wonder if Dave digs out to that type of music? I bet he might. That would be a good contact for Dave-DJ Shadow is a great producer and also runs his own label "No Wax" in California. Bet they cross paths. Theres an entry for 6 degrees of D.N! (Shadow)
May everyone have a happy birthday, do something nice for yourself! Messy-your present is in the mail. Good timing!
No one answered with any OUIJA board experiences. Man I type a lot, sorry. "Aint no five steppin....la da daa daaaa"

Well Lyn, I have come to a healing place where I do not hold my youthful stupid fashion choices against bands of the time. My 12-step recovery program can help YOU overcome this as well ;)

MissNavarro- If you havent had your "song" question answered yet. It's "I touch myself"- Blondie.
What makes it somewhat easy for me to find out the songs and lyrics is that I go to google, Advanced Search, In the first line where it says With All The Words, use "" ((those)), you must know some of the lyrics to find whatever song you're looking for. And type in what you remember from the song, and the answer should come up. If not re-think the words and keep trying. Usually works for me, but right now i'm stuck on finding a song, but maybe its not helping because I really dont know the words. ha
Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at February 9, 2005 12:39 PM
It may have been a remake though...it sure didn't sound like Blondie
