Camp Freddy At Tsunami Benefit Tonight

Tonight is the Tsunami Relief Benefit in Anaheim, CA at the Arrowhead Pond. Bands on the bill:
Blink 182, Linkin Park, Jay-Z, No Doubt, Jurassic 5 and Camp Freddy. Camp Freddy will be joined by Richard Patrick of Filter, Davey Havok of AFI, John 5, Billy Duffy, Be Real & Sen Dog of Cypress Hill and Rob Zombie. Due to unforeseen events that I cannot disclose (only because I don't know what they are), Ozzy will not be joining us this evening. The show, however, will and must go on. It is a great cause and we are humbled and honored to participate in this event. This is the first time that I know of, that such an event has the support of two rival radio stations here in LA... KROQ and Indie 103.1. This show is all about the greater good and thankfully knows no corporate boundaries. So far, this show has raised over 1 million dollars that will be sent to help the recovery of South East Asia.

1. Why is Messy so sexy?

Cause she don't give a fuck!

2. Since you only use your white PRS on tour, do you have several of them for different tunings and what not?

Yes, some have different tunings like a drop D and a couple odd ones I made up. Also, one might have heavier strings depending on the set for the evening.

3. What is your favorite Porno For Pyros song and why?

Cursed Female. It just kind of rules!

4. Messy and Voltaire should be in one of your videos! That would be so hot!

Yeah! No kidding!

5. Dave when you play live do you use any kind of effect that increments your volume on solos? Like a tube screamer or something like that?

No, not really. The band just kind of plays dynamically along with all the changes. Now that we have another guitarist, it might not be such a bad idea, but usually for shows, the front of house sound engineer just cranks solo levels and we leave the stage volume the same.

Said You'd Be (Live):Flash Version.

Bloody Mary:Flash Version.

Wow! My first first.

Dave- there's a song out that's getting some good play on "Christian Alternative" radio called Marilyn Manson Ate my Girlfriend. He wouldn't really do such a thing, would he?

Keep up the good work!

Yeah that concert sounds like it's going to ROCK!! I can't say I'm a fan of all the bands(ex.Linkin Park) but it sounds like a cool mixture of people. If Ozzy was there he would steal the show!!

Posted by: Pinhead at February 18, 2005 10:08 AM

Dave,
what's your favorite RHCP song w/ Frusciante? Fav RHCP song w/ you on the guitars?

Posted by: Froilan at February 18, 2005 10:15 AM

I think that this concert sounds like possibly one of the best things I could imagine...I hope you have a great time

Posted by: Patricia at February 18, 2005 10:22 AM

Dave

Have you thought about funding your new band with your own money instead of having to deal with a record label?

Good luck with the show tonight. Let us know how it went. It must be a rush going up infront of 1000s of people to play at a show.

Dave rock it hard tonight, I wish I was there for the show. I listened to 'Up the Beach' live yesterday and, as usual, was moved beyond words.

Amazing. Anything else to say? Too much. I just hope amazing will cover it.

Isaacs kinda looks like he could be in the 4th Crow movie right before the first chorus in "Bloody Mary." He has that sinister look about him.

Been a fan for a while and just wanted to drop a line and let you guys know.

I do have one question though... Dave, on "Slow Motion Sickness" what did you use for that background distorted pulsing sound? Just a subtle little sound added a quality dimension to the song.

Hey Dave,

Long time listener, first time caller...

I stumbled on to this blog only a short few days ago and I still can't believe how cool this is. I know your fans appreciate the hell out of this.

Hey I had a quick question, but first I gotta take you back about 10 years or so... There I was, watching MTV one late school night (120 Mins...???) when this video came on off these crazy looking guys who looked like they were having the time of their lives. They were shredding this metal music but it was different... it was funky, it was fresh, it rocked like no other metal was rockin' at the time, it... Wait a minute =0 I can see that singers penis thru his spandex!!! Hahaha... Then something happened... I suddenly realized you could kick some serious ass by ripping a barrage of screaming 16th notes in someones face! What I'm referring to of course is the Stop! video and your solo break toward the end. That moment changed my life because it made me realize playing guitar was cool and thus it was my destiny. Thank you very much. Did you ever have that moment where you heard or saw something that made you realize music would be your life?

Seriously man, Jane's was a huge influence on me and I still dig just about everything you guys do. Thanks for taking the time to do these blogs and stay in touch with the fans. Here's to 10 more years!

OMG....to be able to see you and Rob on the same stage! AMAZING! I'm so jealous of those out there that can make it! I'm stuck here in NJ. :-( Give a shout out to Rob Z for me! Please post pics!!!!!!!!!

Love ya Dave!

O.K.

So it's Ozzy instead of Dio.

Question is Hendrix or Page?

Peace.

Posted by: danz at February 18, 2005 02:24 PM

dave:
i want to ask about how you conect your effects(the order) live, especial the digital delay, do you conect it before or after the distor, and if you use the amp distortion do you conect it into the effects input? because you know, to use the amp distor and the delay conected normally sounds to repetitive to me.
good luck in the Tsunami Relief Benefit concert

Hi Dave-I'm really digging TPC stuff! Nice Video!

Anyways, I've got a pro-level question for you. I'm thinking of getting a new home recording setup, and I've been thinking of switching to Apple/Emagic Logic(from PC/Cakewalk SONAR) ...Any opinions on it? If I should ever go anywhere with my music would it be compatible with what many pro studios have laying around?

By the way, I'm a long time reader but this is my first post. It's one of the first sites I check when I get to work every morning...a real nice way to start the day.

thanks, tell Carmen Minnesota misses her.

I don't know Man. Scotty Weiland made the comment after getting released from jail a few years ago. He said that STP were "coming back to save rock and roll". In 2005, I believe the saviors of Rock are gonna be TPC after hearing "Said You'd Be". My God man, what a fucking powerful song! Thank you Dave for hooking up with Steve. This is going to be a thrill. God, I can't wait to see you guys again. Rock the Fuck On! Hey, if Richard is there, that means that Rob or Dean Deleo might show up! They are working on stuff together now, or so is the rumor. God, what I'd give to be there. Oh well, there's always next time. Man, to see Dean and Dave on the same stage-I could die happy then. :)

Question: Who does most of the lyric writing in the band?

Posted by: RMM at February 18, 2005 03:59 PM

Bluelizard, Denise, Jezebel & Cori - You guys have a rocking ass weekend!

DENISE - as soon as this band gets moving, I'm sure we will be playing out on Long Island too. I will definatly keep you in the loop! I will keep everyone in the loop!
peace

Hi Dave, great bill tonight!

I have a serious question for you: Aren't you pissed off at people who always want to post the first comment on your blog?

I am a little.
Being the first? What for?

But it doesn't change the quality of your music & website!

Love,

Jibe

Crecencia, have a ROCKIN day and an extra piece of cake! :)

... To all you folks heading out to the show tonight, have a kick ass time and while you're at it, someone please get a recording of it! Such a treat should be eternally preserved on DVD, right?

;)

Spreading a little extra love tonight, just because.

What does the "S" shape symbol represent or mean behind your unicorn tattoo? Cheers Dave.

Posted by: Gav at February 18, 2005 05:59 PM

Dave-
What do you and especially Carmen do when you go somewhere like the grocery store? Does she have to wear like sweatpants and a hat?

Posted by: trip away at February 18, 2005 06:24 PM

Gav- think the S stands for Spread... but i have no idea what the unicorn is about... there were unicorns on his Spread demo album

aren't KROQ and Indie 103.1 owned by the same company (Clear Channel Entertainment)? if it is true, is this rivalry thing all hype or what?

Happy Birthday Crecencia!

yeah, unfortunately there won't be very many of us regular 6767s/panic agents at the show tonight. :(
but Rain (Misty) is going as she was fortunate enough to win tickets. I am so going to call her if she doesn't call me, I want to hear the show!

Posted by: mortisha8 at February 18, 2005 06:45 PM

just talked to Misty, they're hanging out waiting for the show to start, a DJ is spinning. Her seats have kind of an obstructed view but she was able to get her camera with a good zoom lens in and should return with some pics for us.

Posted by: mortisha8 at February 18, 2005 06:53 PM

Rain rocks!! Can't wait for her report...and pics!!

Dave,
Thanks man I was the one wearing the Panic Channel shirt down in front. Way awesome show, you and Stephen made my night.
Just an FYI I missed all 3 drum sticks thrown to me. Guess thats why I sucked at baseball. However thanks to the guy behind me that gave me the stick he caught.
I felt the need to represent TPC at the show, which was a great show you guys were the perfect end to the whole show.
Please let Stephen know that I personally thank him for the stick. Way too cool.
You guys looked so excited to see the shirt.
Thanks again Toby
