i love you. wow a less important person is first for once, and that person would be me. anyways, i dont know what to do... my friend is 18 and shes been smoking for years and shes always feeling sick and i'm telling her that smoking and drinking and stuff arent helping her and i've tried to help her kick the habits before but she never listened and i know this will be hard because i hardly see her... so i cant be there to give her a good word... and her mom, dad, and younger brother smoke which doesnt help. what should i do? its as hard on me as it is her. I wish you and I had a better way of talking then just me leaving comments, but I guess its alright... one less person to deal with... ha and like I said less important. Anyways I'll get back to talking to my friend. Have a nice dayy sweetcheeks!

Jess, you're not a less important person, everybody is important, and i'm pretty sure a sweet and caring person as yourself can mean something for your friend and that you can help her
there are many ways to help her, but i think the most important one is to help her realize it herself, she has to figure out herself that things won't change if she's not really trying and really want it
..there are many sweet persons on this board that can give you better advice then that.

You are being the best friend you can be by being there and supporting her. You are not unimportant you bring something so special to the table that is why this girl leans on you. But what you need to realize is this and i am speaking from experience I am a ex addict of many thing ciggerettes, alcohol and drugs i am 5 years sober. You can have all your friends there telling you and supporting you but it ulitmatly has to be her she has to want it down to her core. Once she stops it does not get easier that is the hardest part deciding is just the first step. I just want to say one thing that's not really relevant, but it makes me happy, so...
Um, I was at the Jane's Addiction concert in Stockholm, 22nd of October 2003... The night before, I wrote TRUST NO ONE on a piece of paper, basically just to tell Dave that I'm a big fan and I love his solo album... I showed it to Dave just before the first encore song, Montain Song. When the song ended, Dave gave me his guitar pick in my hand!
I hope you'll read this Dave, because I need to say thank you very very very very very very much! That's the happiest I've ever been, and it still makes me happy!
Funny how the little things mean so much... :)

All hell is goin on for me. Last night my date cancelled w/ only a day and a half before the party. And this morning I got hit by someone at the Methadone clinic rushing because it was bout to close. He was nice when I asked about insurance and police report. It was a rental car, so I was concerned. I decided to let him go, no report. Hopefully that wasnt a big mistake!

M - When it comes to your fingertips--just play through! It will really hurt (as you know!) but those blisters will turn to callous. As your callouses develop, they may start to lift in layers--use a cuticle nipper to trim--be careful! Eventually, you will have deep callouses and playing will be much easier for you--although your fingers will still hurt if you play for an extended period. Don't forget, too, that you should warm up your fingers and wrist by doing some stretching exercises--whole hand, and each finger. You may also want to get one of those stress balls and work with it while you surf the net or watch tv, whatever. It will improve your hand strength. I would also recommend just running some scales, getting progressively faster, to "warm" your fingers as you start each practice session. If you have severe pain when you play, stop! Rest, then try again. There may be an underlying reason for it--don't neglect it. Sorry to go on, but I am a guitar player with severe tendonitis in both elbows and left wrist, so I know how important these things are. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys for your encouraging words... (Emma, Chrissy, Junebug, and Melissa Fitts). Ya know, the only reason I put myself down is because I dont feel good about my self, obviously. I mean I bet if you saw a picture you'd think I'm adorable, but its not what I see when I look at myself. And I know everyone is that way with themselves. But I'm thinking theres nothing for me... teenage life is so frustrating. I mean in August I'll be 18 and I know its not gonna get easier. I mean there are so many possibilities in this world that I could do whatever made me happy, like singing and what-not. And when I dont know what to do, I just feel that the problem is me... and ya know, I've said something before, having a mean boyfriend doesnt help considering 95% of that stuff that comes out of his mouth is bull and things that just make fun of me. But as I grow alittle older I'll learn and hopefully have a life that makes me happy...... And I know my friend doesnt have it easy, I'm always there for my friends... and I've always been there for her and I know she doesnt listen when she sees that whatever she does isnt helping her. And being a positive influence would I'm sure be a help, but I'm only one out of the rest of her... umm... negitive influential(sp?) friends. I'm overpowered, But I guess the good comes through in the end.
