Sunday 10

PcrLast night's CFR loaded now!

The Panic Channel Radio

Also, we have a Flash version of Bloody Mary available here.

Cf_isaacs© 2005 Debbie VanStory

1. When was the last time you were star struck?

I'd say the first time I ever set eyes on the lovely Messy Stench. In fact I am still shaking!

2. Who's the better kisser - Courtney, Terri, or Carmen?

Well, it goes without saying that my wife takes the #1 slot. However, excluding her from the list, I can tell it like this. With Terri, there is more passion, but with Courtney, there is more longing. Like a, "Why didn't we do this years ago?" vibe.

3. Dave, are you going make fun of .org forever now?

Hmmm. Tough one. Let me think about this. Yes.

4. In your book (which was very good by the way) there are two photo strips I would love to know who the guys in them are, who is the guy with long hair on the left side of page 16? And who is on page 32/80 in the red photo strip?

Long hair p. 16 - I don't know, but it is NOT Anthony!

Red Strip p. 32/80 - An artist named Sean.

5. Dave-I remember reading interviews with you in magazines years ago (you ain't the British music press much these days-ya gotta remedy that) Anyway, you gave the impression that you didn't really like the publicity machine when it comes time to promote a record, interview after interview answering the same kind of questions, How do you feel about doing that kind of thing now?

I feel as I always have about it. I can't wait to get out there and promote. However, ask me again about a week into it. I'll be singing a different tune.

6. Anywho Dave I was wondering if you and the Camp Freddy boys have thought about throwing down your version of "Venus In Furs" from TNO??

I've been asked about that before. Perhaps I can get to that together for the next time.

7. I was wondering if you had any plans to work with Danny Ash, David J, or Kevin Haskins any time soon?

No, not at the moment although they are all friends and I would do something with any one of those guys. I actually appeared on David J's last album with Perkins on a cover song called Guitar Man.

8. Dave, question...being a lil bit of a comic book geek myself, I was wondering, were you or are you a comic book fan??

I was a HUGE fan for a long time and had an extensive and valuable collection. Sadly, I sold them all years ago as a way to finance a growing drug addiction at the time. I did, however, receive a copy of the first Love and Rockets as a gift from a friend years later who felt for my loss. It was my favorite one.

9. Hey Dave did you get the Olsen Twin dolls yet? I sent them to the station.

No, dammit! What the hell are they doing to me over there? I'm gonna get into this on air Monday with TK! Thank you for bringing this serious issue to my attention.

10. Have you, since you have been sober, been able to recreate that sexual menagerie that was attempted at the Playboy mansion...or, have you been completely one woman at a time since you were sober...

That's a tasty #10! However, I'LL NEVER TELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bio_ericTHIS JUST IN! Special guest on Camp Freddy Radio next Saturday between 6-8pm on Indie 103.1 That's right. You ask and you shall receive. (OG) Eric Avery will be joining us in the studio. Awwww hell yeah! We really do bring it at CFR. Eric will be playing some of his favorite tunes and discussing his new gig with Garbage. Perhaps I can talk him into bringing his acoustic Bass.

Hi all!
Sorry to keep pestering you about this question Dave, but I am so curious...Fav Hendrix song to play?? I read in the Spin special on Jane's Addiction that as a teen you were inspired to play guitar when you heard a Hendrix song. What's the skinny?
Peace and love,
Tara
PS I tried to call into Camp Freddy Radio last night but I couldn't get thru, wrong number....whats up with that?

Posted by: Tara at January 30, 2005 12:19 PM

Dave-i will ask again when the time comes to be asked about TPC cd,lol
Mind you, they could always save you the trouble and read this site huh.

Dave-
Listening to bits and pieces of CFR last night, and...what exactly is the friggin' deal with the format change? I heard that garbage and almost spat my beer all over the living room in disgust. It sounds like a screwy situation and I hope that the concept of any format change on CFR (or any of the other shows) crashes and burns right out of the gate.

Posted by: Jake at January 30, 2005 12:46 PM

Dave, my man, do you have any remedies for getting over procrastination? Besides the obvious? 3 essays are killing me over here. Thank you for any advice offered. Love, Karina.

Posted by: AeroGem at January 30, 2005 12:48 PM

Hey people,

Dave, what do you think of tribute bands who do the whole deal (clothes, hair...even hiring look-a-likes). I've seen a few, and can't decide if they're a good thing or not.
And the other reason I'm asking is because I would love to put a Bangles tribute together over here (just for a bit of a laugh!)

Have a good day all

Hi Dave & family!

Dave, I picked up the MAC C4 and I love it! Works real well for me. Thank you as always ;)

Also, yesterday I was at the grocery store and saw a magazine titled PRS Celebrates it's 20th Anniversary.

There is a live pic of Dave in there. I think it was a purple guitar he was playing and the caption reads "Dave nails it" ...something like that! Also a listing/pic of his new signature guitar etc...price $3,400 :)

Hugs to all,

Lupe

hey dave...just a random question that has nothing to do with music...but when a friendship becomes more of an annoyance than an enjoyment...how do you go about breaking it off gently with the person? i'm curious to hear your view lol

loving the site and TPC and everything you've been doing...great great work! much love to everyone here

Has CF ever done any Violent Fems? I would give anything to hear some of their stuff at the next show!

Posted by: Rain at January 30, 2005 02:41 PM

Dave, I read in an interview years ago that you played the piano, and it just didn't click. Have you ever thought of attempting to play it again?

Posted by: pistol pete at January 30, 2005 02:48 PM

Add it up?

Posted by: Rain at January 30, 2005 02:55 PM

Hey dave did you get the olsen twin dolls yet? i sent them to the station

Posted by: tangerine at January 30, 2005 04:29 PM

Dave, I just ordered my Dave Navarro PRS model. Is there any way possible to get the backplate sent out to you and signed when I receive the guitar? It would be awesome to have yours and Paul's signature on it.

Thanks!

Tim

I dont know how any of you all feel but Dave's little flirtations with the Messy Stench character are really creepy. If I was Carmen I'd probably tell him to back off about the bitch already. For fucks sake, shes Carmen Electra. Whats the motivation here? Dave is hypeing this chick up and she isnt even all that. It's starting to seem really odd. Dave give a little more respect to Carmen and layoff the cheap adoration for some boring ugly cam whore.

Thanks!

The Olsen Twins count as questions 9 and 10...

Posted by: Schwing at January 30, 2005 05:19 PM

Just kind of hanging around, waitin around for a tasty #10. Oh and Jazz, thanx for getting my wife's back, but it's all good. I'm just supporting my friend, directing a little traffic and contributing to the finer arts. Plus, you are wrong about two things, she is a very entertaining and attractive cam whore!

Posted by: DN6767 at January 30, 2005 06:05 PM

Tasty number 10.....
Have you, since you have been sober, been able to recreate that sexual menagerie that was attempted at the Playboy mansion...or, have you been completely one woman at a time since you were sober...

jez(just thinking about terri, and courtney, and carmen..and messy...personally, I don't like to share)

Have you thought about streaming your radio station at 128k? What's the radio station streaming at now?

Posted by: Darren at January 30, 2005 06:33 PM

Eric Avery's in Garbage now? It's too hard to keep up with that guy. First it was Polarbear (Great stuff btw), then Alanis, now this? Dave, I would love to hear you two play some of your old Deconstruction material live on CFR.

Posted by: chiliconcarnival at January 30, 2005 06:40 PM

oh my god! if eric avery is in Garbage now...that's like my dream come true...the bassist from the original Jane's with one of my fav modern day bands?! amazingness...i'll have to try my hardest to tune into that CFR or just wait for the details!

-much love

Hey Dave & fam,

I listened to last night's CFR recording, and thought everyone was fantastic. You guys all nailed "I Want Candy" and "The Metro", and you're right that the "new format" is ridiculous. (As is the new phone #). But where else can you hear some of the world's greatest musicians perform live, right from your computer? You guys are really doing something amazing by sharing yourselves and your (various) talents with us!

That's awesome about Eric A next week. That should be another amazing show. And it should shut some folks up too. ;)

Love,
-Denise

Posted by: Denise at January 30, 2005 07:37 PM

That is going to be an unbelievable show!!! UNREAL!

Dave, on the Panic Channel radio, you have the CFR show listed as Saturday the 30th. Wasn't last night the 29th? Not like it really matters. ;)

Spreading the love,
Deena

Posted by: Deena13 at January 30, 2005 08:10 PM

WOW... ive actually never tuned into CF Radio but having Mr Avery will make me! thats fuckin sweet bro!!

please get him to bring the bass... if you guys can play "Big Sur" (or any DeCon for that matter) that would kick large ass!!!

Posted by: gigantor at January 30, 2005 10:56 PM

hey something else bro... regarding you selling your comics back in the day. the guy who ran the store you would sell them to, he is one of my best friends, and was the singer in my band for years. he was a big fan of the band and his stories of you guys hangin out are killer. he always felt bad cause he knew what the money was going for. he always felt like an enabler but he knew you would just go somewhere else, so he obliged. just wanted to tell you that hes glad you are doing well and all that good stuff. ive hipped him to TPC and hes waitin for it. ya know, i still have the cassette you gave him of the early mix of Ritual... i cherish it..

ite man, take care

Posted by: gigantor at January 30, 2005 11:02 PM

Darren

128k streaming would simply take to much space and bandwidth. At the present time TPC radio is streaming at FM quality. It matches 103.1's streaming quality in my opinion.

Posted by: RC at January 30, 2005 11:21 PM

Oh MAN!
EA in the house Saturday night... a late b'day present for me thank you very much! Please, PLEASE get Stephen in there as well--who CARES what it looks like.

Dawn

Posted by: Oneidafish at January 31, 2005 12:41 AM

Please don't take this the wrong way but i'm sure dave can afford the extra space and bandwidth. There are 18 yrolds streaming 128k streams on shoutcast and they have 1000s of listeners at one time.

By the way i like the radio station it's a good idea. How many listeners do you currently get on a daily basis? Have you thought about streaming the station on shoutcast?

Wow, if Eric A. is with Garbage now, and Butch is still producing, does that mean that Eric has a place in Atlanta or spends some time here? Give a brother a hook up. Hey Eric, give me a shout, Dave has my number, we'll go to the Coca Cola museum and shit. Peace! :)

Posted by: Lyn at January 31, 2005 05:01 AM

The Coca Cola Museum? :D
You and Eric Avery at the museum, looking at coke bottles through the eras~that's a priceless image.

Posted by: ylais at January 31, 2005 05:20 AM

That is huge. Please get Eric on stage with CF ASAP. A live rendition of Fire in the Hole or LA Song, etc, is long overdue.

Posted by: Schwing at January 31, 2005 05:49 AM

Love the new colours! Say Dave, if you were unable to persue a career in the entertainment biz, what would you see yourself doing? I am trying to conjure up images of you in a uniform driving a bus-no, a white lab coat with a clipboard- no, flame retardant coveralls/coat and a fireman's pole- uh maybe, flippin burgers with a paper hat- no, servin' drinks in a quiet bar offering you the opportunity to listen to the stories from all walks of life- interesting. What do you think?

REckless Princess....If your into the cover bands which is not exactly my thing and you dig The Grateful Dead at all, or are unddecided/exposed check out Dark Star Orchestra. Amazing! They do a exact replica of different Dead show and announce the date and location every night and play them to the tee! (Great idea, dedication!) If Jerry goes into an improv, changes a solo, or misses a note they will. Go there close your eyes, and your as close to being at a Dead show as one could desire. Also Jazz is Dead have some of the best jazz musicians on the planet, and funk out some G.D tunes. Sorry everybody...I went on a tangent!

Dave-have you previewed/listened to the box set Nirvana or Courtney or whoever put out? My only point here is theres some really good stuff. I almost feel like theres another last album people of stuff people have't heard. When I was in middle school I used to love to jam out the song "Verse Chorus Verse." Make sure to check out the Velvet cover(?) "Here she comes now." Krist has incredible bass lines, and they f'n jam out the end of the song. Raw Nirvana if its ok to say so! A good tune to do with Courtney!

Dave, thanks for answering my priest/Mountain song question. It is a cool song, but everytime I hear it I get excited and think it's JA, should have known better than to hear anything besides "stealing" in good ole san antonio. Let's just say we're behind a bit.

Dave

I know you can't see the future (with the new band, and Eric A's stuff going on) but what do you think the odds of a Avery/Navarro/Perk EP? Maybe all instrumental or you and Eric sharing vox?

P.S.
No slag on Chris because I feel he's a great bass player.
