Sunday 10

Images(For repeat questions, if I don't answer, it means I either do not have an opinion or I just do not know.)

1. Dave, I know you and Manson are friends and all, but do you try to stay away from him due to his coke habits and such?

Not really, but when I was deep into drugs, I was much less available to others.

2. Also is there anyway those of us who are not attending can help with your fund to aid these victims?

Yes, we are going to get an address for Indie 103.1 and put that up. You can send donations to Indie c/o Camp Freddy Tsunami Relief Fund.

3. I know you are a Woody Allen fan and I wanted to know which of his other movies you could recommend? Do you have a personal favorite?

Crimes and Misdemeanors, Husbands and Wives, Hannah and her Sisters. Annie Hall is a must!

4. Ever since I saw you kiss Dennis on CPS...How do you reach the point of maturity where you cannot only move on from past relationships, but become friends with each other's ex's?

First, you have to realize that your partner's past has absolutely nothing to do with you. For us, it's easy, we love each other, therefore we love all the things that helped make us who we are. We are both friends with each other's ex's. Dennis is totally cool. Carmen loves all my serious x-girlfriends too. It's just kind of a choice. Do you need to feel threatened in your life? Isn't it easier to just give love and kindness and realize that we are all just people doing this life thing? Carmen has gone out with some really amazing and dynamic people, as have I. Hey, if it wasn't for Carmen's relationship with B Real, I would never have jammed with Cypress Hill. Fear turned into love can make for some really great experiences.

5. On CFR last night, did you say that you were definitely going to quit smoking, or that you were going to think about it?

I am seriously thinking about it.

6. In your book you have a lot of pictures of yourself, there aren't any that show you in the really bad state you got into, why was that?

Well, I do think there are several that are pretty bad, but for the most part, when I got really sick, I wasn't so much interested in the whole "photo booth " thing. The ones I do have are just a little too gnarly to put out. The whole process was difficult enough. You know?

7. Also, I read an old Kerrang article that had a question about when you and Carmen started dating, and it quoted you as saying she asked YOU out?

That is true!

8. Dave, when you joined the RHCP, what was the 1st RHCP song you jammed and perfected with them?

Suck My Kiss

9. Hey D-dogg did you feel a sense of relief after DTTAH was finished and completed? In other words, did the writing of the book have a therapeutic effect for you?

Totally. Plus, being able to provide assistance to other addicts with the proceeds helped me feel like it wasn't all wasted time.

10. What song reminds you of Carmen with the exception of your wedding song?

Teardrop/Massive Attack

5.?

That is totally cool what you say about past relationships. Because of jealousy, I have not been able/allowed to keep up with old friends.

Just watched CPS, again, and thought it was cool. However, did Dennis really walk off the set? And if so, did you have anything to do with his returning? Or was it all a set up?

Lots of Love,
me

Dave -

I love these answers. You are very mature and wise.

Here's a question number 5, or 6, or 7...

QUESTION 5. On CFR last night, did you say that you were definitely going to quit smoking, or that you were going to think about it?

(Either way, I wish you all the best. You would look JUST FINE if you wind up gaining a few pounds.)

I enjoyed my first time listening to CFR last night. And I learned something new! I didn't know that Billy wrote the majority of the Cult's songs. Very cool. Anyway, I look forward to getting through one of these nights and talking to you guys.

That's it for now.

Peace/thx,
-Denise

Hey Dave and all you lovely 6767 people!

I've been away for a few days on a computer-less vacation and missed this place! I gotta read through the past 5 threads and see what's been going on. Hope everyone here is doing well.

Dave: I can't think of a question you haven't already answered! Maybe next week I'll have something. :)

Now I'm gonna go try and read through the past few threads to see what's been happenin.

Peace,
- Sean

I was first! Dave, I understand that you don't like to do instructional videos (guitar) and we should all have our own style, but think how cool it would be if Jimi Hendrix had made several videos on how he played and documented his technique.

After listening to some of TPC stuff and noticing that there isn't any early Jane's-esque shredding, I have to ask, do you think you'll ever visit real ripping note-filled solo? I know, "ever" leaves it open and TPC is a different band, but dude, you have skills. Who cares if real solos aren't part of the current trend in rock. They weren't when Jane's came onto the scene, either.

It seems like you like to do those kinds of solos when you're playing with CF. Of course, whatever you do is cool, but if it were up to me, you'd be playing Three Days-like fretboard excursions 24 hours day, not very realistic, I guess. Nonetheless, keep up the great work and thanks for being so accessible.

Hi
my lovely family and my lovely dave!!

how are you all doing?
I haven't been on the page in a long time, but I'm back now.I read dttah twice because I liked it a lot. It was very interesting.

Dave, are you considering writing another book someday?

Posted by: laura at January 9, 2005 11:13 AM

Dave, you haven't answered some of my serious questions.

Q: In your book you have a lot of pictures of yourself,
there aren't any that show you in the really bad state you got into, why was that?

If this question is out of order then I'm sorry, I really am not trying to be clever or catch you out, I just found myself asking that question when I read DTTAH becuse of it's brutally honest nature. Hey, maybe those are pictures of you in a terrible state and you still look good, I hope not because that would be quite simply unfair :]

Dave-do you still use the E-Bow much.

Has a tentative, historical, shoot-for date for the release of TPCs' first CD "Lyn" been set yet:)?

Posted by: Lyn at January 9, 2005 11:19 AM

I like Dave's fast solos but they were/are never as interesting melodically as his slower ones. I think there are a limited amount of sounds you can get at a certain speed. This is just an opinion, be gentle with me...

Posted by: Nik at January 9, 2005 11:19 AM

DAVE!!! Thanks so much for answering my question so beautifully!! It is true that if you truly love someone, their past contributed to that, and you should appreciate the people that were part of that past. But, I must add, I personally am trying to work through the fear and self-loathing that holds me back from loving and being loved...

ok, so, I heard some of the guest for the Camp Freddy show mentioned last night, I think you said Terri Nunn and Juliette Lewis, and of course the lovely Carmen..I must have missed the names of 'boys' who will be joining you, could you tell us again?

Also, I read an old Kerrang article that had a question about when you and Carmen started dating, and it quoted you as saying she asked YOU out? Hmmm, I thought it was the other way around...could you clarify that again, if it is true she asked first, and then brought a posse with her, my respect for her has just increased tenfold!!!

It was great listening to her last night, hey would you sign MY ass, there's room for the whole of Camp Freddy, and probably the audience of the Key Club as well?

jezebel( spending the afternoon with the boy, watching the amazing Brett Favre!!!)

DAVE!!! Whooop! It's almost like chatting with you, freaking awesome, quick....what's on the movie list for today?

jezebel(Have I told you lately...you are so DREAMY!!)

Hi everyone.

hope everyone is having a good day so far - its almost over for us in the UK.

I was surprised that no photos appeared of Carmen and Dave on holiday in the British press. but then again its cool to leave you in privacy - especially when you're on holidays.

here's a question:
Have you ever bought a record and found that it has completely changed your life?

Fiona Apple - will you be able to get her for any Camp Freddy shows? I assume you still have a fascination for her? ;)

Hi , its Molly here again.

i was bored this morning so i jusst began to write....i hape you all like....obviously its about ASH but entitled...............

"Chris Chaney"

What do you do when you've won and you look slowly to your left only to notice Chaney holding your hand??Its re-assuringly a question we all must ask somwhere in our lives... At the end of 2002, Ash faced that exact dilemma. After kung-fu fighting their way to the top with '1977' briefly losing the plot with 'Nu-Clear Sounds' and staging a heroic pop fightback with 'Free All Angels', they found themselves as champions of the world.

“The whole climate that 'Free All Angels' was made in was so poppy, it was almost like you had to compete with a lot of manufactured stuff, says Tim Wheeler. Compete they did, to the tune of a number one album and five massive hit singles. They had proved themselves as the most durable band of their generation, achieving longevity that most bands can only dream of, while losing none of their youthful flair. Still, it was time to move on. As Tim points out, “our heads were in a total different space when it came to this record.

Specifically, that place was America (ie. Chaneys town), where they spent a further year touring 'Free All Angels' with Chaney on keyBoards( The plot thickens!). There, travelling across the rock heartland, it became abundantly clear which signpost Ash would follow on the next stage of their journey. “I think being in America really influenced this record, going to a place where rock music is really alive. It was going back to our roots in a way, we wanted to make a real guitar-based album. To set about doing it, Tim, Mark, Rick and Charlotte realised a long-standing dream of making an album in California. “I always think American records sound better sonically, laughs Tim. “They always seem to have better engineering, better studios, so we wanted to check it out first hand.

Decamping to Los Angeles and hooking up with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, System Of A Down, Chaney's pet cat) they set about realising their dream. Out there, the band found a new democracy "Chaneyism" Though outsiders they never became outside eaters_ but could they all Pull Through.........., led less by Tim's hook-laden songwriting alone, but with all four members punching with equal weight. We were playing a lot better as musicians, says Tim. Rick's drumming was a big influence on the record, he's turned into a drumming monster! And Chaney is a keyboard guru!I think we had a real confidence to try something new with this record.

The album that emerged isn't called 'Meltdown' for nothing Chaney actually had "a Nervous meltdown" though they the early reccordings.
The end for now i know you all intrigued to see what happens in these mystical and warped events......Molly

Thanks to Chris Chaney And ASH for the real event Documents of what took place.

Whats up 6767 Family?

Dave-
Are you a sports fan at all?... and if so what are your favorite teams or sports to watch?

Posted by: CK at January 9, 2005 12:03 PM

hi dave

found dont try this at home at a book store here in the uk. read the "great steve vai debate" chapter today, and thought you hit the nail on the head in the coversation you have with the music industry guy. i too am no great fan of steve vai, but i am a fan of buckethead, malmsteen etc and they too face alot of the same criticism that steve vai got from that industry guy... was nice to read someone counter argue what all those "industry/critic" guys say about these hugely talented guitarists and there genre of music and fans.

SHAY!!! Napoleon Dynamite, my son's fav movie, he recites it scene by scene for me....What are you going to do today, Mike?, I will ask.....Whatever I feel like! GAWSH!!! I love the action figure dangling out the bus with a string, and the guy from Drew Carey with the stars and stripes beach pants giving the karate lessons, it's almost too painful to watch, since I was the girl with the side ponytail in high school.....

Aimee, also forgot to tell you that I loved the rest of your list, where is the Nina Simone? I love Etta James, she is a Riverside native, not far from the small town of Redlands where I reside, a few years ago, she gave a free concert on the steps of the Riverside courthouse...unbelievable....at last, my love has come along....that was the wedding song of my dear friend Betty last summer, and you just can't go wrong with Sade, have you heard Lover's Rock...?

Posted by: jezebel at January 9, 2005 12:21 PM

hey family

Dave, when you joined the RHCP, what was the 1st RHCP song you jammed and perfected with them?

Hey Dave, thanks for the reply.
I do know what you mean, and there were no rules
on what you could or could not put into the book,
it was your book! I just knew that you were into
documenting everything so it seemed like a valid
question (hope you took it that way). Oh yeh, I'm not
interested in seeing images of you like that, I'm much
happier that you are well (in case that mattered...)

Posted by: Nik at January 9, 2005 12:35 PM

...kind of feel selfish for asking now...

Q. Is that sort of question (Q6) the type of thing
you wanted to come from putting out the book?

Posted by: Nik at January 9, 2005 12:41 PM

I enjoyed reading these :) I hope you really do hope you quit smoking!

oh dave, to be the TENTH question....I am getting ready to watch Vikings and Packers, really thinking of my dear departed Minnesota Mom, who taught me to love football....and I am flipping the channels, I mean, I love figure skating and all...but...COME ON!!! Kenny Loggins on ICE? AAAARRRGGHHH.....

ok, snap back to reality...

Dave!!! I remember reading another article where Carmen was singing Hey Now, by OutKast to you...What is a song you guys sing together, just for kicks?

jezebel(Hey, can they make that DVD of yours come out for Valentine's Day? Talk about a perfect gift!)

Posted by: jezebel at January 9, 2005 01:25 PM

Dave, I am the posting whore du jour...IFC is showing Wild Man Blues right now, documentary of Woody Allen's jazz tour....Woody and Soon Yi are taking a trip on a gondola, they are talking about they always have two bathrooms, Woody actually used the word 'unctions'....she is funny...he is so neurotic...another perfect couple

jezebel( Hi Nik, Hi Timoteo, Hi Lyn....have I mentioned I am single again?)

Posted by: jezebel at January 9, 2005 01:33 PM

Dave... where's #10?

Here's a few questions for you to answer, should you choose to accept them...

1. What song reminds you of Carmen with the exception of your wedding song?

2. Someone asked this earlier, but I was curious about it too... do you like Tim Burton's films?

3. Not really a question, but I thought your favorite Woody Allen film was Stardust Memories?

4. (a repeat) Did you ever get to make amends with Fiona after the blood incident?

5. (another repeat) Any thoughts on Incubus?

Inquisitive today...

Posted by: Theresa at January 9, 2005 01:37 PM

PS - I won't be repeating myself again, just thought maybe you didn't see some of those questions the first go-round...

Hey 6767's :)

CFR chat was fun last night... maybe one day I'll make it when it's actually on.

Posted by: Theresa at January 9, 2005 01:40 PM

Hey Dave,

I read this somewhere about the recent disaster - Your a man of the world. I'm interested in your opinion:

Every deadly calamity is a merciful call from God for the living to repent. That was Jesus' stunning statement to those who brought him news of calamity. The tower of Siloam had fallen, and 18 people were crushed. What about this, Jesus? they asked. He
answered, "Do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewiseperish" (Luke 13:4-5).

The point of every deadly calamity is this: Repent. Let our hearts be broken that God means so little to us. Grieve that he is a whipping boy to be blamed for pain, but not praised for pleasure. Lament that he makes headlines only when man mocks his power, but no headlines for ten thousand days of wrath withheld. Let us rend our hearts that we love life more than we love Jesus Christ. Let us cast ourselves on the
mercy of our Maker. He offers it through the death and resurrection of his Son.

What do you think? Agree/ disagree?

Pod

Posted by: Pod at January 9, 2005 01:57 PM

...sorry,

The reason I ask is that I'm thinking about why there is such suffering in this world? The quote I cut and pasted was something I hadn't encountered before and was wandering what your thoughts were.

Pod

P.S. I am not a freak...

Please forgive if this has been discussed before. In an interview with Dave Daley of Alternative press, regarding the follow up to One Hot Minute, you refered to the songs as "some of the best stuff the Chili Peppers have done since their inception." Can you drop some song titles, and is there a chance that any of it will see the light of day, if it already hasn't.

Hi everyone! Jezz - I'm so glad someone read my last post. I wrote it as Dave was closing I think! *L* I love Nina but just didn't put any on yesterday for some reason! If I ever marry again, I'd love At Last to be played at my wedding. If not, maybe I can bribe my 3 year old to play it for her first prom *L* Also, I love Lover's Rock! I was waiting for the collective slam for Celine honestly *LOL*

Are all of you in SOCAL getting slammed or what?
