Start of Darkness Reflux
Good morning my friends. Had a long day yesterday. We finished our rough demo of Start of Darkness, rehearsal and all that. A definite Monday. Sometimes I wonder what these posts would look like if I skipped the spell check process. Thank God for technology! Anyway, things are good. Just off to rehearsal again, not much to report. I think the NAMM thing is on Friday. I'll be at the Yamaha booth and the PRS booth.
PRS: 11am
Yamaha: 3pm
Peace,
Dave

Hey Dave/Fam,
Anyone going to see the Black Crowes at the Hammerstein in NYC? Let me know, I think I am going on March 26.

Dave!!! Just cause I love ya!!! Wait, is CARLOS going to be there? Oye como va, indeed!!!
(STEVENSVILLE, MD) January 6, 2005– Paul Reed Smith Guitars will celebrate their 20th anniversary at this year’s Winter NAMM show. PRS Guitars will be located in booth #5420. PRS invites everyone to experience powerful guitar demonstrations conducted by Gerry Leonard, Mike Ault, Gary Grainger, Paul Smith and special guests. These presentations will be held several times each day. Further plans include the unveiling of several 20th Anniversary model guitars and new Artist signature models.
Carlos Santana, Dave Navarro and Mark Tremonti will join Paul Smith for a press conference at the PRS booth on Friday, January 21 at 1:00pm. On Sunday, at 10:15am, Paul Smith will hold a session for the press on the historically significant PRS archive guitars, demonstrating changes made to PRS instruments over a 30-year span and sharing private anecdotes about these vintage instruments. Normally under lock and key, this collection, which contains examples of Paul’s earliest work and prototypes of production models, will also be on display throughout the four days of the show.
Gotsto go!!!!

Hey Dave.....
I hear Carmen is going to be on Off the Record in Toronto. What is she up to north of the border and when are you coming to Vancouver? :D.Another question, are you a fan of Motorhead?
Bye for now ;)

Buddy list? I am jealous!
Okay, Dave, have a serious question here. Keep reading you don't have a label for TPC. Is there anything we can do? A write in, e-mail campaign? Give me a task - I can do it!
I have chatted with several bloggers who can't download CFR or Bloody Mary - and we want vinyl! (or a disc as the case may be) We want to help the cause anyway we can.
Let us know!
Always,

You americans are so positive & full of superlatives about everything... don´t get me wrong, this isn´t meant to be as a insult, I´m just always wondering that when reading or hearing americans speak ´cause around here most of the people are pretty much cynical about everything and superlative expressions are saved for when something truly groundbreaking happens ;)
Sometimes it seems that american folks describe even most banal and everyday things as "amazing", "phenomenal", "excellent" and so on...
What about if something is beyond amazing?

Does this board seem like it's fading out? Is it just me or is everyone jumping ship to go to TPC site? Dave definately doesn't post as much since that site went up. I've listened to the new PC stuff and maybe just because I'm such a huge JA fan I can't get into it. I love Dave as an artist and he definately is one of my favorite guitarists but the PC isn't hitting it like JA did. Hopefully when I listen to the whole album my views will change. Question for Dave: "How big into the Smiths were you and how do you feel about Johnny Marr?"

Good Morning Dave!
I have a quick question. You seem to sleep very little sometimes...I've noticed you online into the wee hours of the morning and then, back online again before 7:30am (this morning).
Do you suffer from insomnia (as I do, which is why I see you online) or do you just require very little sleep?
Thanks. Have a great day!

Dave on aol? I'm jealous as well! :) Although I'm sure he doesn't want all of us messaging him all the time.
I agree with the post by Jason Cook, that the TPC site seems to have taken over. This one should definately keep going because it and all of us were here first! :)
Posted by: Sherri Robbins at January 18, 2005 12:08 PM
Okay,
How do you know when Dave is on? I mean, did he post his IM name? Did I miss it?
And for my cousins across the waves (alot of Welsh in my blood) . . . some of us have quite a venacular and if I saw Jesus walking around, I wouldn't have to speak, I would probably drop over dead!
A freind of mine worked in London for 4 months last year for a record company. Half the time she could understand what was being said, so although we can communicate, there is still that language barrier.
What do you think?
Posted by: Angel at January 18, 2005 12:15 PM
Dave,
What do you think of the Dave Matthews Band? I more interested in what you think of them musically rather than whether or not you like their sound or not. I guess I assume that you do not like their sound but only you would know that.
thanks,
alltimelow.

Just another little tidbit of useless information, Carmen's freezing her ass off up in the great white north!! It's really really cold here right now (in the minus 20 celsius. If no one minds, I've attached a url of an interview with Bruce Kirkland of the Toronto Sun and if you can catch it quick enough because of time differences (it's 4:15 pm as I type this), she's also the photo of the day!! Nah....its just that a lot of the "conversations" have been taken over to the boards. And as far as Dave, I think he's just a lot more busy than he has been in the past.
I know this is still the first place I go when I get onto the internet!!!

Everything has its' time in the sunshine!
The TPC site is a great little playground--The guys built it for us and Dave pretty much turned us all loose in there like an R (or X!)rated kindergarten. Lots of yelling and screamin and just plain fun. I love how Dave's right in there with us rolling in the wood chips. So far the other band members are kinda hanging on the swingset BUT they're there!

For sure this is the first place I go and other than TPC community about the only thing I do on the interent except look up some info I might be wondering about.
Feel a little better knowing that Dave experiences Mondays the way I do, but, totally wish they were cake for all of us!!!
Hang in there peepz, I think I'm having another Monday!!!

I don't think so. TPC site is not as personal as this site is. Why after so many years of Dave calling this site his baby is he now more focused on TPC site than he is here? I understand he wants to promote his new band which is fine but don't lose sight of all of us here who have been here since way before TPC. Has anyone of you grown up since childhood in a house and moved away when you were an adult? It's hard not to think about the old days. Dave, I know your extremely busy with everything and your excited about the new project, so are we. But don't move this site over to TPC, we love it here. Any thoughts anyone?

anyway, much love. i am so not looking forward to this new semester. i'm trying to get more involved in the nyc media now that i've moved back here but i just don't know what my time schedule is gonna be like... but i did finally land my first paid freelance job as a writer for a paper here, so i'm really really excited about that!! i'm thinking of getting back into tv/film production, but it's hard to commit to a job when your school schedule is fickle ...at least by next semester i can do night/weekend classes & not these stupid daytime classes....

angel, i think it is a very keen observation you have made about our using superlatives more than our friends from other countries. you'll find we are also pretty extreme in our swearing if you are ever trapped in a room with our non-texted selves. i suppose in a most unusual circumstance we would have to use a creative combination of the two, not to be irreverent of Jesus or anything. it is just a product of the way we've grown up. with one another. -jane

I am a lead singer in an all Original Progressive Rock band. Can you recommend something for my ears? I have been using HEAROS but they just don't cut it. And those little squishy things that expand in your ears haven't been doing the trick either. The stuff is real loud (my drummer has over a 20 piece drum set). I don't want to mess around with my ears.

"Warning: Worst Day Of Year Around Corner
The most miserable day of the most depressing month of the year is just a week away, according to research.
Psychologist Dr Cliff Arnalls has come up with a formula pinpointing January 24 as the gloomiest day of all.
For those wishing to examine their woe further, the formula is [W+(D-d)]xTQ MxNA.
It translates as weather (W), debt (D) (minus the amount of money to be paid on your next pay day) and the time (T) since Christmas.
Then there is the period since the failure to quit (Q) a bad habit along with general motivational (M) levels and the need to take action (NA) to plan something to look forward to. "
What a tw@t! Some people have too much time on their hands. I really hope he's not getting funded to work stuff like that out. Or maybe he is, spends his days smoking and sitting in a bar and just thought that up 5 minutes before the deadline was up. [W+(D-d)]xTQ MxNA... please!! Shouldn't that be [W+a(Nk)xE=R?
January 24th will rock this year, am off to Prague again. Any one been? I've never been anywhere like it.

Sexsinger-Where you at in CT. Im in West Suffield these days. Was in a Halfway house in Mystic-but that didnt work (I preferred life in a car with frequent trips to Park Street in Hartford). I also spent 6 years in New Haven. (Backwards spells "NEVAH WEN") New Haven has so many great musicians. I was working with Busta Rymes old partner from Leaders of The New School-Dinco D. He did the line "Bo knows this and Bo knows that, but Bo dont know jack cause he cant rap" in the song scenario. Anyway-dudes a crackhead. Think he did somethin to Busta cause he should be part of Bustas enterprise. We did a song "Superstar" that ended up on DVD. He used to come over and take all the cig butts and take out the tobacco for a new rolled cig! YUM! SAD CASE FOR A SUCH A BRILLIANT MAN! AHH..The heroin days..what a waste! Brought his demo to a club, and gave it to the DJ when they were playing his Leaders song "scenario." The DJ said it wasnt him! Anyway now Im 20 minutes from bot Springfield and Hartford. Not bad at all, granted Im staying away from "Montecca."
6767 discussion-This is my first stop after I check my email. Then usually TPC, but I dont stay there long. Dont have the time to follow whats goin on. This place is so nice...perfect.
Movie recommendation:"American Movie"-a comedy bout two guys making a movie. Won Robert Redfords Sundance Film Festival a year back for being the Best Independent Film of the year. I give it my *** ***.
Lynn-I was rockin the shirt and tie complete with a "Joseph" nametag.

Other than checking in here I am working on my master's degree in social work...
I am compiling some information regarding relevant resources and supports for people in my community.
Question: What, if any, supports do/have you used to help stay clean?- AA and/or NA, private therapy, spirituality? Do you have an opinion about things you have found to be most helpful?
I recognize this isn't as juicy as "Have you ever had sex with a girl on the rag" (you rock Paul!!!), but hopefully just as relevant.

Dave is getting a PRS model? I didn't know that. Maybe they'll have an SE version and an American version like Tremonti and Santana.

I'm starting to sound like a loser who wathes too much T.V but I saw the "Off the Record" show that was filmed in Toronto and thought it was pretty cool. Despite the name similarities me and "Pinball" Clemons are nothing alike..lol.
