Start of Darkness Redux

Jane_navarroWhat's up? Today we are going back to Scot Humphrey's house to finish up Start of Darkness. The Panic Community is slamming! I have been logging in a couple hours a night over there. It really is like crack. I love it. I have this picture in my head of going downtown to find some guy on the corner with my last ten bucks going, "Please, man... Just one more post!" Really addictive stuff.

1. During your visits to Sydney, did you spend any time in Kings Cross?

Oh, yeah. Let's just say I dropped by years ago to, "post on the Panic Community", so to speak.

2. When are you gonna record your next solorecord?

I don't know. Right now I am really focussed on The Panic Channel. Solo material is fun and rewarding, but I really love being a member of a band more.

3. Ever work with or hang out with Dave Grohl?

Never worked with the man, but I have met him and hung with him on several occasions. A very down to earth and funny guy. I have jammed with Taylor. Damn that boy hits hard!

4. What about these banners u requested earlier Dave? Are you gonna use them? What about gettin some artwork up again each days?

Totally! I really dropped the ball with that one. I apologize. Yes, I will get one of those up soon. As for the artwork, I would love more stuff to be sent in. Just put it in the artwork folder at the Community.

5. Hey Dave, are we going to see your new PRS model unveiled at NAMM?

I think so. I hope so. I know I will be there at the PRS booth as well as the Yamaha booth. I'll have to find out the dates.

I like the easy flow here. I do not have hours to spend at TPC which is a bummer. I am glad you are not dumping this site like you left your old one for the Jane's site.

Posted by: babyuni67 at January 14, 2005 10:43 AM

There is definately alot to read on TPC board. Lots of fun and interesting people and topics. But first loyalty is here with Dave. Woohoo Colleen on being here first but you aren't online... where are you???? lol Hope everyone has a super weekend. One of these days i'll have my own computer and i'll be able to check in on the weekend.. (big sigh) Til then, i'll be back monday.

peace out! Love you Dave!

Hello,

Sorry to agree - with only a few minutes a couple of times a day, this is much easier to follow and respond too. I have been into the Community a couple of times but have not posted. Since I usually access at work, I get a completely different view than from my home computer. Still love ya Dave!

Always,
me

oh man i love dave navarro he is so hot.i saw him on mtv on that show with carmen man we are all so jealous of carmen! i heard he was in a band called jane's addiction what is that? i heard they kicked out the singer because he wasnt cool enough, his name was percy i think. his cd that he made on his own never got on mtv so obviously he is not cool enough for dave navarro - duh! he also looked kind of goofy and all he sung about was being jewish or something - that is sooooo stupid. i wish i could marry dave navarro

i think i will post on here constantly and praise the panic channel even though i have never heard anything by them but i am sure they will be the best band in the world.

Hey Dave I was at your show at the Dragonfli. I talked with perkins and Chaney before the show but you were nowhere to be found.Do you hang with us little people or are you to good for us? Just curious? OK ...rock on!

Posted by: bob at January 14, 2005 11:25 AM

Average6767poster you are a fuckin idiot!!!!! Perry not Percy is the fuckin shit!!! What does being jewish have to do with anything. You racist! Perry rules!!!

Posted by: bob at January 14, 2005 11:29 AM

DAVE - Once again, SO glad that you're maintaining a presence at both places.

BLONDI - I know what you mean about this site. True, the other one is LOTS of fun... a great place to express the wacky/crazy side that we all have. But here, I feel I can kick back and be the nice, laid-back, mellow little geek from NY that I am deep down inside. :) Does that make any sense? LOL

"Average Poster" - It's getting a little old, dontcha think?

“ It really is like crack. “

Ha, I may soon need to work Garvey Blvd for 10 more minutes :D.

Shit, if you don’t have a PC at home the internet could get very expensive especially at some hotels.

Posted by: Wendybird at January 14, 2005 11:40 AM

Who is Bman?

Posted by: Pinhead at January 14, 2005 11:42 AM

bob, it was a joke, i love perry as much as the next MUSIC fan. Shame there aren't too many of them here.

And no, it's not bman, but I must say, he's pretty cool.

Hey. I hope all is well. Glad your recording is going great! And that you're having fun! Keep it up! Have a nice dayy!

Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at January 14, 2005 12:44 PM

not sure if you guys get into this but Dave's signature model from PRS is a pretty big deal..
While PRS has a lot of artist, they only have a couple Signature Models for their Hi-End Guitars.. Say like Santana, and Tremonti..

And Riss - i think you mean Jan 21?

Posted by: b at January 14, 2005 12:54 PM

I've been enjoying this site for months and decided it was time to finally contribute. I think this is a wonderful community and I am truly blown away by the time that Dave gives to it.

I also wanted to share this website that I saw from a fellow 67er. I know Dave loves cars (or at least his Hummer) so I wanted to pass this along: http://www.67cars.com

I'll join the campaign for some shows on the East Coast.

Question for Dave: What was the craziest jam session you've ever had?

Posted by: Molecular Biophysics at January 14, 2005 12:54 PM

Looks like i may be saving up for a new guitar (if your signature PRS isn't too expensive).

Since your a fan of Dave Grohl , if he asked Panic Channel to support Foo Fighters on the next tour (UK TOUR PLEASE)would you say yes? (hint hint)

Love always,

Dave, Steve… Thanks a lot! I was supposed to go home an hour and a half ago but I can’t seem to turn of the damn computer. Why I otta..

No seriously, I’m thinking of what outfit I’m going to wear while I’m walking up and down Garvey Blvd tonight. Hopefully one that will make me lots of mula vs. me having to pay for the deed.

Just kidding have a great weekend.

Posted by: wendybird at January 14, 2005 01:38 PM

PRS are great guitars, although Ill never have one! I did get the chance to play one in a friends studio. They are great for the wealthy, and those who make a living in music. I wish I could record with Noimann microphones-and the quality is worth the extra money. I did my last demo using them, but they were a friends. A custom guitar. I think of Jerry Garcias amazing line of guitars. How about Trey Anastasios Paul Languedoc customs. His dog is in pearl on the head stock. Dave-dont put your name on it-please-it makes it tacky for others to play when they sell em commercially. You need one custom one only you got. If its commercial line-the 6767 thing is cool though. Just my opinion-kill it if you want to. Dave-have you done any tracks influenced especially by the Beatles?

Rantz-your work is amazing, I can wait to read the strips!

Jezzi-Cali trip hopefully this spring or summer!

If anyone ever needs a place to stay in Hartford, let me know.........Dave-ever play Toads Place in New Haven. If not thats a great Venue for your new project if you run east coast. It seems like everybody big time plays there, big names like the Rolling Stones rock this joint that holds under 1500 people.

Just to let everyone know, todays a new day and a better one. I would never really shoot air in my veins-but at the moment I thought it would fuck with my pops for life like he has me!

Can someone explain to me why the episode of Celebrity Blackjack that was listed as having Dave Navarro, Tori Spelling, etc...is not on? But Jason Alexander, Ricki Lake are on? What the F***? I was all set to record this. grrr!

Posted by: ***Cyn*** at January 14, 2005 02:58 PM

LOL. Dave is such a trippy, mellow guy. First, he makes me smile with "Please man...just one more post!" and now it seems he's "hiding out" with us. I don't get as much chance to hang out in the community, since I have a 2-year-old, but I can definitely see the enticement!
I hope everyone is well, and has someone that they love nearby. After all, Valentine's Day is just a month away...

Sorry...Dave's signings at NAMM will be next week, JANUARY 21st.

Posted by: Riss at January 14, 2005 04:36 PM

Missed the last few CFR shows, so I don't know if you already mentioned this, but is Carmen's new group similar to the pussycat dolls, or is it something completely different (or is it a surprise!!) I personally can't wait to see what its all about ;)

Posted by: Abby at January 14, 2005 05:14 PM

Blah, anyone else here have a nasty cold? Or is it just an east coast thing at the moment? I guess this is my body's way of telling me "you're doing too much work, relax mothafucka!" So alas, I have the day off and have spent it watching The X Files Season 2 DVD's and posting up over at the TPC board.

Dave, that place is like crack. Of course, having never done crack, I can't substantiate that statement, but I'll take your word for it. If you wanna rock the iChat A/V style with Freak, Pony and whoever else that said they're down, PM us at the board dude.

Peace,
- Sean

P.S. Denise is twice as much of a fox in person!

Dave-There is a new drug & it's called "TPC-Ice" It's addictive as hell and you can't stop posting. It's insane LOL!!!!!! I love the work, the time and effort you guys have put into it. Thank you so much!

Brett
BTW: TPC Sonic Lab is waiting on Steve.......

Posted by: Brett at January 14, 2005 05:55 PM

god damn. ive been thinking about smoking crack all week, and then you post about it, i hope its not going to be my underlying motivation going through with it. its really scary thinking about it, and you know that.

Do you feel like youre going to slip every day?

Does the thought to use run through your head all day long or does it pop up every once in while?

Gah.

I feel like im going to fuck up so bad very soon and go flying off into nowhere again. What do you do to supress these thoughts?

Can you please help me, dave?

Posted by: WAKErmeister at January 14, 2005 07:37 PM

SEAN - You are too kind. (BTW, everyone, I've met Sean. He is an absolute sweetheart; a very deep, creative, and interesting soul. Good-looking. And he has good taste. ;) LOL)

WAKERMEISTER - I can't give you the advice Dave can; I don't know what it's like to be hooked on crack, but I sense extreme urgency in your post, and want to help if I can. My advice is to DO SOMETHING - That is, keep yourself busy with something, ANYTHING that will get your mind off using. (Or eating, or drinking, or whatever your "poison" of choice may be.)

I say this because I always find that when I'm busy and have a lot of important things to focus on, I have less time to do the "bad things" that can get me into trouble.

I hope that can work for you as well. Good luck finding some kind of diversion!

Take care,
-Denise

BTW: I just updated the calendar with the NAMM schedule.

question
Dave,
is it cool with you if i use the panic agency as a band name cuz you influence me alot?

Posted by: Jon at January 14, 2005 08:40 PM

Yeah, the PC boards ARE getting crazy....lots of people can't resist the urge to post half naked photos of themselves! LOL

Just make sure there aren't any underage females (the guys aren't doing it as much as the gurls) posting those photos!

We don't want the PC boards to go down because of some overzealous, exhibitionistic teenagers! lol

Hope it's not to late to post on this thread....

Love the Panic Community--good vibes over there--but just a thought....

For me, PC is like a party--wild, crazy, fun, lots of people to get to know and things to do....you forget about how long you have been there ("I thought I was there about half an hour--where did the night go?") and have a great time! I will have to limit my time over there (I am thinking about putting a timer at the computer to let me know how long I have been there!)

But 6767 is like being home--comfortable, nice and a place to kick off your shoes and just relax....I like settling in....the vibe here is so cool, and I just love coming here and getting everything direct from Dave....

So for me, there is no "competition"....they're so different, and both great in their own way....thanks, Dave, for tbe wonderful ways you communicate with us--it is so appreciated!

Posted by: Elizabeth at January 15, 2005 03:00 AM

dave -

in dttah, you said that you were always afraid that after going home with a girl, you might wake up to pictures of your friends on her dresser... why would seeing a picture of anthony freak you out more than your other friends? if you don't mind my asking... :)

Dave,

There has been a thread asking about the status of the "Loop Experiment" page, a couple of us have sent submissions only to have them bounce back or receive a reply saying they got there but we are not seeing them posted. Is this idea now defunct? Should we continue trying to get them up? A few of us are willing and able to kick it into gear again.

Cheers!

Good morning Dave

1. Is there CFR tonight? I'm sure I know what the topic will be!!

2. Can us mortal folks go to NAMM? Do we have to buy a guitar to say hi?

3. Any more news on confirmed guests for Camp Freddy?

4. Can we still go online and chat with you if we DONT have a cam?

5. With all the questions about whether you and your lovely wife are ready to start a family...how does Daisy feel? Have you thought about getting HER a little brother or sister?

jezebel(have you heard of Messy Stench?)

Posted by: jezebel at January 15, 2005 10:32 AM

Dave-re loop experiment:
As there are not a great deal of files on the Loop page, could you put back up the ones that wern't used on Shoot, then as new tunes get completed take off the files that were used for tunes, that way there is always something to use if no new files are submitted.

Dave-
What do you think about this group Muse that is just now hitting it big in America?
How about Placebo? This may seem random but The Panic Channel brings to mind that sort of music, maybe I'm just slowly losing my mind.
