Re: The Crue

There is a rumor here that I might be participating in the upcoming Motley Crue tour. I have not been approached by anyone associated with Motley Crue. I do plan on going to see them.

"According to BW&BK sources, rumor has it that MOTLEY CRUE guitarist Mick Mars will be replaced by RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist Dave Navarro on their forthcoming reunion tour. Mars' ongoing health problems are the reason for the switch."

I just figured, "Hey, I have my own site, why not just set it straight now?" I pray for Mick's swift recovery if he is, in fact, dealing with health issues.

The crue is coming here at the end of next month can't wait to see them. I am in the middle of Tommy's book now i bought both yours and his at the same time. It is so funny how he has little paragraphs in which his penis is talking to fucking hilarious. I would have loved to see you play for them but then again like the first poster said you tell us everything we would know lol.

I'm sure you'd do a fantastic job of filling in if you did. Dave, dunno if you'll see this, but I'm sure you can see where my frustration is coming from, in looking for the right electric, and finding that the cheapest PRS, is, really.... not cheap at all. haha...

take care, your music is beautiful

I saw the Crue farwell tour..that was a few years ago.... LOL I do not understand, though how Tommy can tour with a group of people he has such a hard time being in the same room with. My two cents I have to add is WHY IS VELVET REVOLVER THINKING OF BEING THIER OPENING ACT???????
Okay, maybe that was more then two cents but it is late!

Welcome back Dave, hope you're humming with energy.

Here's a question for the next ten, since I never ask stuff like this: Steve and I have talked about comics, and I know once upon a time you had a massive comic book colelction that got sold off. So, these days, do you hold any intrest in comic books/graphic novels? Animation? any of that stuff? If so, what stuff do you like?

ok, back to it...

Dave, can we buy tickets for Camp Freddy in advance, or is it at the door only (BTW...the Key Club site still says "free") Thanks =)

Posted by: Abby at January 3, 2005 01:21 AM

DAVE

did you see crue on leno? the rhythm section sounded great of course. vince sounded ok. but mick sounded too good. it was evident to me immediately that there's no way this one strat is making all this noise, i don't care how many marshalls are behind you. sure enough when he goes into his solo the rhythm guitar continues! he was in fact playing along to pre-recorded rhythm tracks or whatever you want to call it. i just thought it was lame. what the fuck is going on?

Posted by: chris at January 3, 2005 03:15 AM

Well, as long as rumors are being discounted, I'd also like to take the time to dispel ANY truth to the following article from atlantabandrumors.com:

"From our "Heard On The Street" file comes this: Lyn will be taking over the vocal duties in the Butch Walker band. While Butch continues to write, record, produce, mix, roadie, and make amplifiers and guitars by hand, he has found the singing duties a bit too much. To this end, Lyn will be taking the mic in order to help with the immense load Butch has put upon himself."

It's just not true. Simple as that. You heard it here first.

I have a pretty big comic book, graphic novel collection that I'm selling bit by bit right now. Coincidence eh?
The National Library of Scotland just acquired my copy of "Kill your Boyfriend" :D I thought that was so cool. My contribution to humanity.

Like your all so disgusted at the thought of dave playing with the crue as it would be a lowering of his standards and compramisation of his integrity.Where the fuck have you been?Do you even know who dave is?
Thats the best laugh ive had since I read an 67admin post on antother site and,my heart did melt and I just wanted to say that I love you too.Though I'm more than a little dissapointed that you deleted the domestic dispute posts or whatever, like they reflected badly on you as a site, irrelevent nonsence and all that, I would like to request that you delete all the posts which ask about matters of the hair but then this place would be empty. And all the lickers would be out roaming the streets going for the nearest ass.Nevermind then.i will admit that i think steve isaacs is really cute!

WOW, a MONSTER list of influential birthdays today:

Stephen Stills is 60 today! I don't think I have to point out the obvious musical influences Stephen has had on not just folk music, but rock in general. I'm willing to bet that CSN were the only band to be at Woodstock, Live Aid, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. The guy supports a long list of very admirable causes, including, but not limited to: the environment, free speech, social change, and in the face of constant cutbacks, the firm belief of musical programs in our schools. Keep up the great work, Mr. Stills!
http://www.stephenstills.com/home.html

Dazed and Confused: Is there a more recognizable bass line in all of music history? I don't think so. Two words he uttered in The Song Remains The Same still send shivers down my backside: Tour Dates! Yes, Mr. John Paul Jones is 59 today! Jonesy is by far the most underrated musician in rock and roll, IMO. Most people don't realize he was responsible for arranging, and thus helped create the sound for the following: The Rolling Stones (strings on She's a Rainbow and much more), Herman's Hermits, Donovan, Marc Bolan, Cat Stevens, Dusty Springfield-too many to list here. Happy Birthday Jonesy!
http://www.johnpauljones.com/

June 6, 1962. An audition was held. The place: Abbey Road. George Martin decided to set up an audition based on a demo tape that Brian Epstein had given him. The rest is, as they say, history. Yes, Sir George Martin is 79 today! Without him, we may have never heard of four guys from Liverpool. Producer of all Beatles albums except the last one, George is also a very successful producer of classical albums. But let's be honest-one of his very first arrangements will always be his most famous. A little song called Yesterday. Thank you Mr. Martin for everything!

Good morning family....good morning molly!!

I'd like to ask a favor of those of you with spare change lying around...take it to your local supermarket, you know, they have those green Coinstar machines EVERYWHERE..

..Follow the directions, then enter 5556, and the change will be donated directly to the Tsunami Emergency.

You won't pay a fee, and you will get a tax-deductible receipt

I am starting a coin drive today at my school, go to www.unicef.org for more info...including facts on exactly where your money goes...five bucks buys an emergency medical kit for 3 months, 87 dollars buys a safe water kit for a family of ten, and 188 makes sure 80 children have new school supplies

You know what I love about people like "rox"? These people come onto a Dave Navarro fan site and then talk shit about us. Now meanwhile this person sits back and is frantically hitting refresh on his internet browser to see if anyone has replied to his ignorant comment so he can get his "rox" off. Well foxy roxy here you go. Here’s your plug. Now go back to the porn sites you usually frequent and get your morning jack off. Stop wasting space on OUR site.

Dave I hope you enjoyed your vacation in Hawii. My girlfriend and I are planning a vacation for the end of this year and we are debating weather to go back to Cayman Islands or Hawii. Seeing that you have been around the world and I I I. Which do you think is the better vacation spot?

Dave-did you go through a bipolar of emotions in the first tree months? Depression, then rage of creativity. And be nice to yourself--that's why they call them "accidents"!

Dave--I knew if there was an announcement to be made regarding your career, you would do it here....thanks for keeping us "in the know"--you are awesome to treat your fans the way you do!

velvet revolver was real good when I saw them end of 2004...if you have never seen Weiland live, I think it is a must...the guy is all over the place and of course you have everyone saying that they might not last due to their history, lets hope that is all crap....but Green Day's American Idiot is such a great record. Never have seen them live and not a fan of the rest of their catalog so I would go with VR.

and back to the Crue for a second, i am shocked they are playing arenas...I didnt realize their audience was so big and strong still...Van Hagar couldnt even really sell well in arenas and you would think they would sell better than the Crue...right?

Hi Dave,
Fantastic! I would love to see you and Trent on the same night.
What a wet dream. Aaaaah!
Just one thing, why, when the music you created with Jane's Addiction was clearly more influential than that you made with RHCP are you continually referred in context to your OHM with them?
Don't get me wrong, I went to the shows when OHM was out and it fit that period of my life etc. I am a HUGE fan of the Peppers and Jane's Addiction.
It all is the soundrack for my life for which I am incredibly thankful.
Just irks me a bit becuase you with Jane's was a phenomenon unto itself.
Love to you.

Hi Dave
Happy New Year!!

I am new to your site , but have been a fan for a long time =)
I wanted to write but did not have anything interesting to say.. Did not just want to say "Hey Dave I Think You are Awesome" !!

I am bugged at work because they can't figure why i like you so much and also because i keep playing Jane Says on Launch
So i keep telling them that you are a very interesting person , there is something about your eyes, you can tell allot about a person by just looking at them .

But i think i like you most because you are Honest.. What you see is what you get.. That’s how i am .. I appreciate Honesty maybe more than others for specific reasons.

So for X-mas My co-worker got me your book as a gift, and he was reading it before he gave it to me and he had to agree with me. So he is going to pick up a copy for himself.

Well I Just wanted to tell you that i just finished reading your Book, it's GREAT.

It gives people Hope.. If you were able to get your life together after all that went on then any one can do it. and If we want something really bad all we have to do is reach out to get it and it also taught me to accept responsibilities for the stuff we do and not blame others.
I kept doing that .. I also believed like you to TRUST NO ONE.. Trying to work on that , but i think there is a part of me who will always believe that.
My parents split when i was about 2 , i lived with my Dad for 4 years and then he came to the States and My mom picked me up. Well i haven't seen my Old Man for about 22 years , so i kept blaming all the s@#t that would happen to me to the fact that i grew up with out my Dad.. A bit of self pity.. Well after reading your book.. It dawned on me ..I cant do this to myself and i can't let those feelings dictate who i want to be, i just have to learn to deal with them.. So now i am thinking of looking for my dad. Well thinking.. Haven't decided yet. So your book provided some sort of Therapy.. Really don’t like that word.. But your book helped me see and work over some of my problems and it motivated me to start making changes.

Just wanted to say Thank you!.. For what ? you might ask .. Well for telling the truth and for not caring what people might say.. For sharing a part of your life that others might not be so eager to do .

Love Seaprincess

Ps.. Specially like the last part. when you share how you met your wife Carmen, My Favorite part, because it makes me really happy to know that you are finally HAPPY!!!

Posted by: seaprincess at January 3, 2005 01:32 PM

Hello everyone! -
Hope all of y'all had a safe and happy holiday season. Back to the grind now...
Question for you Dave:
Do you ever get tired of mags n stuff referencing you as "Red Hot Chili Peppers" guitarist, Dave Navarro? I mean, Yeah, you were the Chili's guitarist for an album, but you're the guitarist for every Jane's Addiction album, y'know? I always think that's weird when I see you referenced like that, just wondering your take on it....

East Coast has become way too slow for me...
Glad to be back in Cali... Glad to be back on this board...
3 days and still no smokes!
Much peace and love to you all -
Scott

Posted by: scott at January 3, 2005 02:23 PM

Dave ,*whispers*....the previous topic is not as closed as you might think...

Abby...That's tremendous!! I love it when corporate matches donations, and the Red Cross is such a worthy organization, it's just easier for my kiddles to bring in pennies and nickels, and feel like they have done something....

Kyle...What the ?, be careful man!!!

Brett, you STUD!! I should have recognized the number, but I looked the area code up, and it was a New Jersey one, I didn't think I had given Deena my number...lol

Itanja!! Just got your card at lunch, it's PRECIOUS!! Thank you for taking the time with it, and for writing me a letter through your pain...look for my cherubs' responses soon

and finally...Kirsty, you Holland gem!! I love the stamps, and the sentiment, my kids just don't understand how mail can possibly get from over there to over here!! It makes the world a bit more manageable to them...

jezebel(glad to be back with my minions)

Hi!

I confess that I'm somewhat relieved to hear that the Crue rumors are untrue. Not that I don't think Dave would do an AWESOME job. (I bet he could play those riffs blindfolded.) But I'd rather see him shine in his own light.

The good thing about rumors is that they get people talking. There's a lot of buzz right now on some other message boards... and I say, the more people are aware of the wonder that is Dave, the better. I support him and his continued success 100%.

On another note, Kyle, I'm sorry to hear about your accident. Ouch! Take care and use a lot of aloe vera gel, or whatever the doctors gave you. Good luck!

Be well, everyone.

Love,
-Denise

that's funny, I read the same thing about Tracii Guns being asked. his reply was that the only way he would do it was if Mick himself asked Tracii to.

As far as backing goes, I would'nt be supprised if for the Leno show all the insterments were taped. But Mick has allways sounded great live. He's very underrated. A friend of mine has a bunch of bootleg stuff from back in the day and it allways sounds that good.

back to the subject of Dave. Dave I know you can't give away all your new songs but I'm just salivating at the thought of hearing more TPC. Anyone else.

Dave, What mobile phone do you have?

Posted by: Rob.K at January 3, 2005 04:14 PM

What mobile phone?
oy oy oy
The questions people ask here are way too funny.
What kind of deodorant do you use?
Where do you pump your gas?
Do you like 2%, skim, or whole milk?
Do you read magazines or books while you're on the john?
Alright, I know, it's not nice to mock. I'm taking a break from work and couldn't help myself.
On the other hand, if someone were to ask me some of the crazy questions they ask Dave, I'd be filing for a few restraining orders and/or questioning the stability of some of my fans...guess that's why I'm sitting here behind my desk and not shirtless on the TV though, eh?
To each his own, shut it already.
OK.

So - there's a new OC on Thursday. whoohaaa
See? If I'm going to mock, I'd better at least give some fodder for turnabout to be fair play...

Posted by: RMM at January 3, 2005 04:37 PM

Haha, so here's another pointless question for Dave ;)

Last night you were in my dream, we were at some huge 6767 party and you spent most of the night talking to me. I felt bad, but extremely honored at the same time. It was the third or fourth dream I had with you in it in the past few months.

So, what's it like to have all of these people that you don't know dream about you? It's gotta be weird, man.

Kyle - ouch! I had second or third degree burns before, not fun. The evil sun likes to have it's way with my pale pale skin.

See you guys in my dreams,
Theresa

Posted by: Theresa at January 3, 2005 04:53 PM

Dave have you ever met David Gilmour?

Posted by: Steve at January 3, 2005 04:55 PM

Hey RMM,

In defense of some of the seemingly weird/inane questions that some of us ask, look at it this way:

Most of the basic, vital stats about Dave can already be found in various places all over the Web. And if you've been following this site since its inception, you know that people have asked him an array of other questions, including deep and probing ones that many have been wanting to ask for years.

Dave has been kind enough to answer many of them... and he seems to welcome more when he says things like, "ask away" or "fire away".

Therefore, since he requests that people to ask him questions, it's only natural that some of them may be of a mundane or silly nature. It's possible that people are just trying to think of something original to ask, since Dave offers them the unique opportunity to do so.

At least, that's my take on the whole thing...

As far as stability, that's a whole other issue! ;) j/k

Cheers,
-Denise

So I got my end of the year bonus today, and I turned to my boss, looked him in the eye, and said, "You know where this money is going? To SouthEast Asia." So Jez, I'm too neurotic to even keep coins in a jar. However, I can't think of anything better to do with my bonus check. I have so many things... I couldn't possibly need that money more than the people over there do. I have had nightmares every night, placing myself on one of those beaches as the tidal waves approached, and then swept away everything in their paths, creating unimaginable natural destruction. The pictures on CNN I'm sure can never entirely capture the true devastation that they are dealing with over there.

Please give what you can...

I love you people.

So, tomorrow I start my coin drive, couldn't today, all kinds of politics surround charity, no matter how small the venue..

In that respect, it doesn't really matter what you give, or where, it is the giving heart that is remembered...

I just wanted to give to an organization that would still be there after the cameras leave...

Jezebel, good for you! I still haven't read that book. I read the first few pages, and started sobbing... and then threw it back on my bookshelf. However, I have decided that I will be writing my own book, and it will be entitled "Searching for Dave Navarro: Why You Shouldn't Date Men Who Look Like Rockstars." It will chronicle my bad choices in men due to my inability to control my physical attractions. Yup. Still in hell...

But darling, I'm proud of you. Would you read my book? (If any of you have an impaired sense of humor, I will clarify that I am kidding about writing a book.)

Speaking of David Gilmour, I watched the DVD about the making of Dark Side of the Moon the other day and it made me actually cry to hear parts of that album for what they are instead of the studio singles I hear on classic rock stations...just so absolutely beautiful...as was David in his youth ;)

Asian Tsunami Relief - FACE OF FRIENDSHIP.ORG

http://www.faceoffriendship.org

Anyway, this might be regarded as spam, but obviously this is all towards helping out the recent victims of the tsunami. A bunch of us at a music forum - www.musicplayer.com have collaborated on a track that is downloadable, with your donation. I was merely responsible for the website. Donations can be made via PayPal, or directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee where all of the PP money is being sent to. I've heard we've already got hundreds of dollars of donations in. Several people on those forums have connections in the music industry and media outlets, and are trying to get this more widespread.

There are downloadable flyers you can print as well, and link banners. We have plans on releasing a couple more MP3's, and eventually a compilation CD, but we wanted to get 1 song out ASAP. It took about a week of collaborative, songwriting, editing, mixing, file-swapping effort and the track is sounding great.

So if you haven't already helped, or want to help again, check out the operation and thanks much for your consideration.

Humm, never heard of this one...

Also, I had some major skepticism from someone in a chat room I've been a regular in for years, of this being a scam. I can tell you it is no scam, but those adamant won't take my word. If you must, e-mail the DEC www.dec.org.uk and/or Music Player about this, and they will tell you.

Damnit, I'm cursed again. Everywhere I go, "Dave, can I have an autograph?" or "Dave, tell Carmen I said Hi". I'm sick of it, I tell you, sick of it. I'm gonna go shave and have a gravy biscuit.

"I AM, I AM, I AM SUPERMAN, AND I CAN DO ANYTHING!"
Happy Birthday, Mr. Michael Stipe, 45 today! I saw REM in the 40 watt club (when it was really just 40 watts) before Stipe found his true voice and before he was self assertive on stage. He doesn't perform with his back to the audience anymore! I remember thinking at the time, damn, these guys are different, but very addictive. Evidently, so did millions of others. 18 albums, hundreds of songs, a champion of environmental causes, and one of my few personal heroes. He is original-modern Renaissance Man personified. Even after Document, and international acclaim, Stipe could be found in Howard Finster's garden clearing weeds and doing yardwork. Keep up the Great Work, Mr. Stipe, and I hope you have 100 more birthdays!

Adina...I will write the forward to your book, my nightbird..I suffer from the same malady....oh, but you know, belladonna, the pain is so sweet!

Do NOT read that book! Do NOT take advice from a man whose only credentials are that he wrote for a sitcom, and that he is married himself...

If you DO want to read a funny book, I recommend Confessions of a CAD..published last year, I forget who wrote it, I liked it because he didn't try to lay blame on women for his own game playing behaviour.

DAVE!!! Question, maybe it has been asked and answered.

Does Carmen ever visit this site? If so, does she....
a)roll her eyes
b)laugh
c)relate
d)post under psuedonym in jest...(molly?)

Hi D, just reading 'Don't try this at home'

I'm enjoying it but I don't know what to think of
you now. I thought it would give me an idea of what
you are really like but I can't seem to trust what I'm
reading.... stupid huh?

Doesn't really matter, I love your work (that I know of)
and wish you all the best for '05!!!

Oh yeh, about the book (I bet you think I'm trying to be clever, but I'm sincere) I've read how bad you got at times and the physical effects on your body sounded terrible but why didn't you take / put any strips of that into the book?

Sorry my comments have no relation to the thread I'm new to the site and thought I'd see if I could talk to the guy I just read so much about you know?

Hi Dave!

I see that Carmen is to be on the Ellen DeGeneres show today - can we expect an appearance from you? Another time? I have suggested it to the show - along with Montel and Jane!

Here is something positive to consider . . .

Who you are

Who do you think you are? Your perception of yourself becomes reality through the thoughts, decisions and actions of every moment. Are you kind? Are you loving? Are you honest? Are you successful? Are you wealthy? You are when you truly think you are.

Every day a thousand decisions greet you. They overflow with opportunity. They can take you to any place imaginable. How do you choose? How do you decide? You do so based on who you think you are.

What do others think of you? It depends on who you think you are. What will you become? That depends entirely on who you think you will become.

Who do you think you are? It is revealed in every moment, in every action, in every decision, in every thought and opinion. The great thing is that you can be whomever you decide you will be. It is your choice. It is your life. So who do you think you are?

and I thought I would sound too pretentious....

Posted by: Nik at January 4, 2005 06:44 AM

What if you can't make your mind up?
Would that mean that everyone who knows you would
be unable to decide what to think of you?

I'm serious!

Happy Birthday to Michael! Some of that man's songs helped me through high school.
UGH it's only Tuesday...

Strays was re-released with new cover art, acoustic versions of Just Because and Everybody's Friend, and a different ('i got this feeling') ending to True Nature...And it all coincides with a guest perfomance at Vince's house on Entourage

Dave!

I read an interesting article in WIRED this month regarding new detox treatments for opiate addicts. Essentially, they anesthetize the patient and use a mixture of chemicals, the main one called naltrexone (described as an opiate blocker) to expedite the withdrawl process. Supposedly it strips all opiates from the body in 20 minutes, and gets the body back to creating it's own endorphines in a matter of a few days.

My question for you is this: having gone through detox 'the hard way', do you feel that this kind of 'quick-fix' treatment is a good thing?

I haven't ever detoxed from H (other things, though), and I have to say that other than the joy of sober life, the other main thing keeping me clean is the HORRIFFIC detox experience! I NEVER want to go through that again. Without this step, can addicts be expected to understand the severely negative effects of drugs on their body and why they should no longer do them?

For anyone interested in the article, ref. WIRED 13.01 (01/2005), p. 130.

Best line I've heard in ages: "You constantly wanna touch yourself" - Carmen Electra.
Watching her on Ellen D's show. That girl is great. The audience loves here, and she's sweet, funny, and has tons of class. Nice catch Dave:)

Why do people give themselves different names for forums
and other things?

Two of my favourite musicians are called John and Dave.
Not Vim Surelength or Zak Thruster.

So why Dave whhhhyyyyyy?????

Although, of you shared the same name as the Snail in
'The Magic Roundabout' you may want to change it to something more......rock.

Damn Colleen! Have you been giving Angel the strong stuff again?

"The Meaning of Life" - I mean obviously it's all down to Monty Python really...

Identity - something to dwell on, I "think", therefore I waste lots of time when I could be "doing". That in my book makes me a bit crap.

Oh, sorry, hi Dave, hi fam...xxx

Dave,

I've always wondered how the songwriting process worked in the early Jane's days. The impression that I got from various articles that I've read is that Eric wrote the majority of the riffs. True or false?
