NAMM
I just got back from NAMM. No parade. No ticker tape. It's almost like my country is trying to sweep the whole thing under a rug. Like it never happened. Well, I was there, man! In the trenches! ALL DAY LONG! I was supposed to get up at 6:00am to get myself together in time, but I have one of those alarm clocks that wake you with the sounds of nature. Like a flowing stream or birds or some shit like this... right? Anyway, slept right through it. Got up at 9:00am and just yanked myself into place and picked up Riss and Steve and rolled out. Made it in time. Once I was there it was fine, but on the way... wasn't happy. At all. I unveiled two signature guitars today. A white PRS and a white Yamaha Acoustic. (I don't know what they cost.) I hung out with some cool people and later in the night jammed a couple songs with Paul Reed Smith. We did Hendrix's Spanish Castle Magic and Easy Rider. All in all a rockin time. I'm goin to bed... CFR tomorrow night. Messy on Sunday. It's all good.

...and so lonely. So sorry about your morning Dave. It happens to the best of us. BTW I've been curious, did you get Daisy from a pet store, breeder or a shelter? Also, what breed is she? Did Shannon Elizabeth's charity have anything to do with her adoption? Sorry Dave to take the focus off of you, but I have been smitten with your puppy since I saw the two of you killing time together in the hours before your beautiful wedding.

Sorry about the bad start to your day--I hate waking up late--feels like the rest of the day you are trying to "catch up"....sounds like you might need a new alarm clock though....

How old are we? Is the guy from Anthrax really crying over coffee...
ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"There I was waiting on a long line at the Hotel Starbucks with some friends, I see [JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist] Dave Navarro and his 'people' walk over. I guess it was his assistant or some guy? He proceeds to go around to the area where they serve you the drinks and says (in a Richard Simmons voice), 'That's Dave Navarro, he has a signing inside [as part of the NAMM convention] and he can't be late for it, can you please get us our drinks now?' Here's where my N.Y. attitude comes out, I start waving my hands and start yelling things like 'WHAT THE FUCK KINDA SHIT IS THIS!' If there's one thing I hate, it's waiting for my coffee. The girl says, 'Oh sure, we can do that.' The fucking guy orders something like seven drinks. I was not happy about this. Why couldn't this guy wait on line, send the rest inside, start the signing and then bring him the coffee? Oh well, I guess if you're on an MTV-based reality show, you get this treatment. I gotta settle for a glimpse on 'Headbanger's Ball'. I dig Dave Navarro, but don't cut the line again, at least when I'm on it."

Hey Dave,
What a crappy way to start your day! I have had that this week too. I was lucky this week, we have had alot of snow and ice in the Pittsburgh area and I found my SUV in a couple of ice skids and thought I was going to take out a few people. But I made it through that so far. But last night, as I went to retrieve a few family members, a deer jumped out and took the bumper and lights out of my vehichle.
Hope today is better for you.
Mine will be much better when my STEELERS win against New England tomorrow night!
Holiday party tonight - and we got 7 inches of snow already today!
Everyone, stay safe!
Always,
me

dave ,
if youre going to use such a lame alarm clock , then you cant really complain about getting up late can you ??
on the subject of (namm) equipment, which do you prefer - pod or tonelab ?

Posted by: slate at January 22, 2005 12:07 PM
I have seen that shirt if Hot Topic before. Also, you could try ebay. It is not that uncommon to find.
Posted by: babyuni67 at January 22, 2005 12:29 PM
Sorry to hear you had a crappy start yesterday, but tonight should quite a turn around. I'm thinking CFR tends to bring out the best in everyone. :)
Hey Jane, are you near Newark airport or are you thinking of flying in? That's my neck of the woods. It would probably take me longer to go and pick up a gallon of milk at the corner, than to get to the airport.
Spreading the love,
Deena

Sorry to hear Dave it sounds like the whole thing was very traumatic for you. I sure hope you don't have any side effects from the Agent Orange.=)
Peace out,

lame alarm clock slate? that clock is rockin'...i have one too, birds, whales and all kinds of animals that never wake me up from my wonderful sleep. Has provided me with "ah, shit, slept through the alarm again" excuses for years. Ya just don't tell anyone what kinda alarm ya got, but you don't have to make up lies.
peace, its drinkin' time
Posted by: nicolas at January 22, 2005 01:05 PM
Sort of disappointing. The Navarro signature guitar does NOT have Sperzel locking tuners. Instead, it has the PRS locking tuners, which are lame.
http://www.prsguitars.com/showcase/current/navarro.html
There's a reason Dave has his custom built with Sperzels.

Rob, it was good meeting you last night, bro! You guys were pretty good... Thanks a bunch for all the swag!
And jezzie, you are so right Rob had the total Dave vibe going on, reminded me so much of a young Dave Navarro. It was quite endearing I have to say...

Hi all,
Dave -
As someone who has slept through her alarm clock (or unconsciously and repeatedly hit the snooze button) all too many times, I can empathize with your story. It sucks having to rush around to get somewhere, in a half-asleep daze, no less.
I apologize if I bothered you last night with the IM/chat question.
All-
I hope everyone is well. I'm here snowed in like the rest of the east-coasters, looking forward to CFR.

Good evening all, crazy snow here in CT.
Jezzi-thanks for the num lock trick, but it didnt work. I hit ctrl alt del a bunch, then my computer shut off for like the day but it seems all good now.
Dude from CT-Saw Hubinger street play like five years ago. I think the keyboardist joined Psychadelic Breakfast from East Haven. I used to talk music and puff with those guys in between sets, now they play Berkshire Fest, Bonnaroo and won a "Jammy." Good kids, but what they do..I donno-whom I to judge but its been done? Definately musically talented but creative? Hubinger Street never made it. Shakedown still plays but they reform over and over, they've probably had 20 drummers. Check out Jazz is Dead or Dark Star. Do you remember the original Slipknot from New Haven? They got signed to revelation record (Beastie Boys) for coke debts. Their drummer Mike Martinez was my roommate, and an incredible hard hitter! Did you read my post bout Dinko D?
Enough now-were the only two here who care bout these nameless heroes.
Jezzi/Rantz-lemme know when you get mail, should be any day now!
Deena13-you can do whatever youd like with the poem to make it work. Also I didnt proofread it after typing it. If something seems wrong-it probable is. "Take two hippies and tear them in two, one is clean and one is you!" That whole thing came in parts over three days in april.
Mike from NYC-Id like to pay you a visit if possible. I posted on TPC by your thread. HAPPY f N B-Day.
Lynn-I just remembered that report was on the Great Society. How bout Ladybird-was she any better?
Dave-Will PRS give you a bunch of those PRS guitars? Hook a brother up!
The guy whos address is all over TPC.
MUCH LOVE,
Saurus

Dave,
Hey I was wondering something. Since I know from reading here that you like playing with various people. Would you ever play with Prince? I mean you're both killer players and I think it would be cool.
Anyway hope all is well.
Rest of 6767 familia hope you guys are doing well also.

Hello All...
Well as of right now (10am) I am officially SNOWED IN! This is just nuts. Hope I will be able to get out of the house soon..AHHH.
Dave, your looking very sexy in this picture by the way. I'm really diggin the long hair. Long, short, anyway it really doesn 't matter.
QUESTION, what do you use for ear protection? I am a singer and my ears have been bothering me from the loudness of my drummer. Can you suggest anything? I've been using HEAROS, but they aren't working.
HAVE A GREAT SHOW on the 27th, wish I could be there. Maybe one day...

Dave...good morning...here are some questions for a Sunday
1.Is there any chance you can play a Camp Freddy track on CFR?
2.Have you seen your six degrees of Dave Navarro game lately? Bill Gates, Arnold, John Wayne, who knew?
3. I saw that you played the PRS at Namm..Did you take the Yamaha home with you? Any chance we will be treated to a live performance with an acoustic Dave?
4. I know you are a fan of reality tv, and new season of Apprentice has started..What's your opinion on the Street Smart team, any early favorites?
5. The PaniCats were at the Cat Club on Sunset on Friday to see a 6767er perform, he had a lot of your stylings. How do you feel about being a fashion, as well as musical influence, on up and coming bands?
Have a great Sunday, Dave!!!

Jammin w/ Prince.......although some would call me crazy, give it time, the mans a genius. Do people still call him "Symbol"-its not on this keyboard yet!??? What a great special guest. I thought anyone with an opportunity would jam with Prince-other than me cause Id be too self conscious. Maybe if I were invisible I could get the courage to strike some chords together while he didnt know I was there. Plant some catchy riff in a genius' head. Kinda like God! Anyway, Dave whats your take-know that I think bout it the invisible things would be a great time too!
