CFR Saturday

Davenavarropg441CFR tonight! Dono, Billy and I live at Indie 103.1 from 6pm - 8pm pacific time. Web simulcast on the Indie 103.1FM Site.

What about the loop experiment? Well, I will have to look into it. Maybe our mailbox is full and that's why all the files are being returned. I honestly have no idea. Lemme get into a couple questions, but tomorrow is the full 10...

1. Can us mortal folks go to NAMM?

I don't know is the answer. I never understood how that whole thing worked. Perhaps someone here can enlighten us?

2. Why would seeing a picture of Anthony freak you out more than your other friends? If you don't mind my asking... :)

I don't mind, that part of the book was from an article that ran in Bikini magazine years ago. It was intended to be funny. Sometimes you gotta take a little exaggeration and dry wit a little bit further than the next guy. There is a lot of dry humor in that book that, apparently, gets misunderstood. Oh well, they can't all be winners.

3. I feel like I'm going to fuck up so bad very soon and go flying off into nowhere again. What do you do to suppress these thoughts?

Honestly bro, I pray to have those thoughts removed and talk to someone close about it.

4. Dave-have you done any tracks influenced especially by the Beatles?

The solo guitar in Everybody's Friend was definitely influenced by George Harrison.

5. Hey Dave is your signature guitar gonna cost an arm and a leg?

I don't know. I didn't set the price. I would assume at LEAST an arm. Maybe a foot, but not the whole leg.

The The Panic Community is really thriving! Thanx to all for being a part of it.

One of these days I would really love to hear this radio broadcast. Does anyone tape them and how much would they charge me???

Posted by: babyuni67 at January 15, 2005 12:56 PM

As far as the NAMM show, my limited understanding, and reason for my lazy question, cause I didn't want to admit limited understanding, was that Friday was for tradespeople only, but Saturday and Sunday were for mortals with a couple bucks....and I suppose I could stand off to the side of the line and shout .

Dave, you are so DREAMY!!!

jezebel(Cassandra, come with me!!!)

Posted by: jezebel at January 15, 2005 12:59 PM

hey Dave! how are you? hhmm, just wanted to stop by and say HI and I thought that was awesome that i'm like 3rd or 4th or something. anywayss i've asked this question before but I dont think you got to it. I just asked if you know who lives in your old house now? You dont have to answer it, just a random question. Anywayss, love ya both. Have wonderful dayy!

Jez... come with you where.. what? lol

Posted by: Cassandra at January 15, 2005 01:07 PM

Ok, I am hanging my head in embarrassment, but I am NOT giving up

NAMM, is, by definition, for music industry tradespeople. I can see you at NAMM if I can search in my rolodex for someone in the buyer or seller or performance end....and bat my eyes A LOT!!!!

jezebel(grrr)

Posted by: jezebel at January 15, 2005 01:08 PM

I've been lurking for a while here...love the site and the posts everyone! As for NAMM, I happen to be a "tradesperson." It is possible to get in by registering as a non-member, but the badges are very pricey ($175). Your best bet if you really want to go cheap is to find someone you know at a music store or other industry business (publishing company, record company, recording studio, etc.), and see if they have any extra badges that someone at the company isn't using. There's still the possibility that they'll check the badge name against your ID, but my guess would be that the risk is minimal.

Any pics, or links to it yet, or is NAMM the grand unveiling?

Peace and love to all x

Hey dave i just finished watching your thing on andy dick..it's so freaking hilarous!!! If SNL ever asked you to host their show would you do it? You totally should!!

Posted by: mala at January 15, 2005 01:46 PM

last time I checked NAMM was indistry only, but if you know someone it's easy. I've gone up to Nashville for a couple of them. The shows are just awesome, A lot of companys will put all of their endorsees on stage togeather at a near by clubs. Some of these guys are still undiscovered but are just bad ass players.

Dave, do you know if you'll be attending the Nashville NAMM in July?

Posted by: Shane at January 15, 2005 01:47 PM

Jennetee, dial up is NOTHING to be ashamed off, I haven't seen clips either, I have an incredibly slow connection on my commodore, but my speakers work, if I turn everthing else in the house off, and put some wire hangers on my head and some tin foil on Scrappy, I hear about 25 percent of the show....amazing, Dave, isn't it...yet I still get through, the best way to hear show live is to call in, and get put on hold......seriously!!!

you hear them better than anything, I like being on hold

by the way...I completely LOVE your site, I used to spend hours and hours and hours...thank you thank you,,

everyone Check out for Fans of Dave Navarro

hey guys Rob from NYC here! as for NAMM its true that its an industry only trade show. the only way to get cheap passes is to know some one from a music store, but this is risky. My band, In Question, is endorsed by Dunlop, Dean Markley, and Calzone Case Co. So i get passes from them. In the past my drummer tried to get his girl in and it caused a big problem. I must say though if any of you guys can get in...its well worth it!! see ya there dave!!!

ps: for all u guys on LA here are the In Question dates for next week
1/21 - the cat club @ 10
1/22 - calzone case booth NAMM
1/22 - the cat club @ 9

please please please see you all there and email deadair@aol.com to request the In Question song "coming of age" on indie 103.1 for this sunday's show

Response to NAMM question........

I'm pretty sure anybody can go. I've been to Nashville before and all you have to do is register. Its not cheap but man you get to see some of the coolest new shit around. Do a search for NAMM and you should find the site to be able to register. I think its around $250-$300. If you're a gear-head or just a fanatical musician, its definitely worth it. Hope this helps.

Molly again
With the third chapter of the Chris Chaney and ASH saga.

i recently wrote this for an assainment in jounalism school and got 98% A+!!!!!!!!!!!! hope you like it (post up your views) thanks again. today its entitled...

Chris!!...........WRONG GIRL!!!!

......So where was i - OH yeah! The album that emerged isn't called 'Meltdown' for nothing. It takes all the pop thrills, kinetic melodies, slamdunking riffs that made the world love Ash, then douses them in petrol and drops in Chaney's korg keyboard and a match. After the fireworks, out come 11 a load of tissue paper and a spanish kangaroo with a sore left paw on white-hot slabs of pure rock for a scientific reason neither Chaney or ASH agree to comment.
From the butane rush of forthcoming single 'Orpheus' to the skyscraping peaks of 'Chaneys got a brand new bag' and the fierce-yet-beautiful love 'Starcrossed' this is Ash at their melodic best with a ton of new engines strapped on for extra power. Like a rocket pack fuelled by plutonium. Or, you might say, exactly the kind of music that four youthful twentysomething rock fans should be making after a decade of Chris Chaney at the end of a phone and in the later years actually in the band.

And while Tim wrote 'Free All Angels' on a self-confessed ride on a rollercoaster with Chris in New Zealand, on 'Meltdown' we get a glimpse into the darker side of what actually happened that quite cold autmen day. From the gutbusting title track down, which Tim wrote after going on the February 2003 peace march about the anger of the situation where 'you go on a walk holding Chris atop a novelty sized chair with two million people and it doesn't seem to make a difference?!'. Here is a side of Ash that few people will have known existed.
'Vampire Love' sees Tim taking a lead from Dylan by throwing loads of images down to create a big picture, a mood. And then there's 'Clones' the heaviest thing Ash have ever done in terms of both music and themes. “That's a song where there's someone who stands out from the crowd, someone who seems to be different, and all of a sudden they let you down, says Tim “but that wont happen with Chris he goes on to say and then repeats this line to himself several times incoherently. That the band chose this as the fans' first taste of 'Meltdown' should tell you all you need to know about the new, beefed-up Ash.

“Previously we've always taken a sort of 'furry animal Album' approach really, says Tim, “just 'anything goes' but I think that can be confusing for people, a lot of people don't know what Ash and Chaney is about. "Chainash?" one old Scottish man asked me one morning amazed for what reason i still to this day dont know.
“This time we just wanted to make a solid album with just one kind of vibe. This record is going to sound amazing live especially if Chris continues to part his hair that way. Its our live sound, so it's more a representation of what we really are. We wanted to make it as straight as possible, and just get really shit hot performances. “But Chris blows my mind sometimes expains Tim “but when i try to talk about it with him we always seem to find our selves on the subject of eating icecreams in winter. talk about profound especially when Chris tells me they are actually made out of cream.

After ten years in thrall to 'Star Wars' Ash have entered their 'Chris Chaney' phase. What did Ash do when they realised they'd won? Thought up a whole load of new battles to fight. It's going to be a life changing ride.

-The saga contines-

Inspired by Chris Chaney and ASH and the factual documents of their connection.

also make sure you have read my previous two chapters of not so long ago- "thrilling!" - EIMPIRE *****
"Simply dashing lord of the what?" - HOT DOG *****

hahaha Dave if this 'playing guitar for a living' deal doesn't work out... you should try being a stand-up, my friend. Anyway, just wanted to check in and say hey to everyone. Have a good one.

Hey Dave,
I've been through a dark period the last couplee of years mainly drug induced and it filled my head with anxiety and worry and ugly demons. I let God back into my life and embraced him (thanx for the tip). Aswell as practicing yoga and meditaion i'm on the go to be in a good place now......

How do you live with the fact that there was dark times in your life and positively move on and control the demons?

thanx dave,

Compassion is a deep awareness of another’s suffering and the humane quality of wanting to do something about it.
Dave,
I read the book glad to see you that you came through it the way you did. And that you still are well.
As I stated before, I met you at Club Sceam years ago ('88). You where very nice to me and I also met your cousin who was nice as well. You both were looking for a new place to live.

Anywho it's nice that you have this site and that The Panic Channel has one. And that you talk to the little people. Thank you for the compassion that you show all of us. I think it's very special that you stay in touch with all of us here.

Q: With your diet what is a normal lunch for you at home, and what would be your favorite lunch out at a resturant.

Thanks,
Matt

It is not that I am ashamed of my dial up conection...I just would like to take a rather large sledge hammer to my computer sometimes till I remind myself it is not at fault. And I am destined to never see TPC. LOL

Dave~Why did Donovan slam the phone down on me? I was calling from the UK to say hi to you guys. I think what I said insulted him or something. I thought I was on air, and it wasn't directed to him. Anyway two phone calls later from the UK, on hold...and somehow in the middle of something I don't even know about what's going on...I called back to apologise and explain the mistake, but oh well who cares right?
I called for you and Billy, so I'm "bad" apparently. I called and said I was Ylais from 6767. And then next when I said something about the size of your penises and I was calling too for the Doheny girls, since you guys were talking about that kind of thing. He said they (the members in question) were massive. So he couldn't have been that insulted.

Anyway, I phoned to say hi from the UK, and if he was insulted or upset by what I said, he could have told me (we did chat a bit before about regular stuff too).

I'm fucking 38 years old, and I really don't go around wondering about the size of men's dicks anymore or bothering to do stupid baby stuff like insulting the size of someone's dick. It was a goddamn joke, and a friendly one to you and Billy. I thought you guys would take it as a joke, since you have a sense of humour.

I have no idea why Donovan is that upset to slam the phone down after I was on hold for ages.

Like I said, he could have told me. I definately did not call to upset him, or dig at him or anything like that.

Help!! Dave I know you probably get asked this kinda stuff all the time. I am recently married(june 5th) and am in an apartment. We need to get out of it and break our lease, I work nights and we have a 3month old and our upstair neighbors suck. They are soooooooo loud, I have talked to them nicely, I have gotten the Apt manager to talk to them, but they are just so rude and loud. I can't sleep and our baby gets waken up all the time. I was wondering if I could maybe borrow some money. I need about 1200$ to get out of my lease. I feel like such a loser that I have to ask. Thanks for reading

Dave,

I have an image that I created; I would be honored if you would look at it. I don't want to post it on the Agency Artwork site because it is part of my work, and it has more to do with Trust No One than the Panic Channel. It would mean a lot to me if you would just look at it, maybe give your opinion or even approval. It's taken me a while to get the nerve to ask you, and I'm not sure how you would want me to send it, but please consider it. Thank you very much.
