Camp Freddy/Key Club

DaveterriYeah man, that was the shit! The Tsunami Camp Freddy benefit went off tonight at the Key Club. What a night. My wife launched her new dance troupe called Carmen Electra and the Bombshells. Sexy as all hell and they tore it up. Hardcore style! Camp Freddy had a killer line up with Michael Des Barres, Terri Nunn, Anabella Lewin, Leif Garret, Jerry Cantrell, Steve Jones, Steve Stevens, Courtney Love, Steve Isaacs, John Claydon, Linda Perry, Lemmy and Slash. The set, if I can remember, was something like the following:

Ballroom Blitz - Camp Freddy
Ziggy Stardust - Camp Freddy
Bang a Gong - Michael Des Barres
Feel Like Makin Love - Michael Des Barres & Anabella Lewin
Candy - Anabella Lewin
Metro - Terri Nunn
Suffragette City - Terri Nunn & Steve Stevens
Sanctuary - Steve Isaacs
Man In The Box - Jerry Cantrell & Terri Nunn
Jailbreak - Jerry Cantrell
Pretty Vacant - John Claydon & Steve Jones
Mountain Song - Courtney Love
Should I Stay - Leif Garret
God Save The Queen - Lemmy & Steve Jones
Whole Lotta Love - Linda Perry & Steve Stevens
I Wanna Be Your Dog - Everybody!

At $10.00 a ticket, I'd say it was a hell of a show. All the proceeds from the evening went to support The American Red Cross for Tsunami Relief. It was a spectacular night of rock and magic for an amazing cause. Thanx to all of our guests who made the night possible as well as Brent Bolthouse, The Key Club, Indie 103.1 and everyone who attended. (especially all the 6's & 7's)

Camp Freddy is: Billy Morrison, Matt Sorum, Chris Chaney, Donovan Lietch and Dave Navarro.

If I wasn't in college and 6+ hours away...oh the places I would go.
Glad to hear it went well, I am very jealous of anyone and everyone who was there!!

Posted by: MsArataJ at January 28, 2005 02:53 AM

Great time. Many more special guests than I expected. And the song selection was awesome. But, damn, I couldn't hear half of the singing -- the speaker balance (or whatever you call it) was way off. My buddy and I didn't know Terri Nunn was singing a Berlin song until about 1/3 of the way through. But, anyway, great to hear Courtney do a JA song -- she synced perfectly with you guys. And, Steve did a very good job, although he seemed a bit nervous coming on stage. Well done, guys! More than worth my $10.

Posted by: Mike at January 28, 2005 02:56 AM

The show sounded fantastic. Would of loved to be there

Posted by: Sophie at January 28, 2005 03:26 AM

Hi Dave

Worth so much more than the $10. Very few times in life does one get her money's worth or more....but this was definitely one of them! Carmen and the girls were hot, I only wished it weren't so short =( (we wanted more!). Teri Nunn tore it up, and Courtney was definitely on it tonight! The whole show just had a great vibe to it! No cameras..though a few did manage to sneak them in, so stay tuned for those ones! (I unfortunately did not brave it...big camera, little purse, and they did check)

Dave, waiting for you overseas.

Itanja, got your mail, gonna write you very soon!

Posted by: Vaquero at January 28, 2005 03:30 AM

HI Dave any chance you could ever put Live Audio from the shows on the site. I live in New Jersey and would love to here these shows. Would greatly appreciate it. Cant wait to here the fresh jams you and TPC will be kickin when the albulm drops like an A-Bomb. When it hits its gonna devastate the air waves. Glad to see you found some inner peace may it never leave you.

THAT SOUNDS LIKE ONE HELL OF A SHOW. WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE.......

DAVE.... DO YOU THINK THAT CAMP FREDDY WOULD EVER CONSIDER TAKING THE SHOW OUTSIDE OF THE STATES? I KNOW BASED ON WHAT YOU HAVE DESCRIBED WENT DOWN LAST NIGHT WOULD HAVE PAID ANY SUM OF MONEY TO CHECK IT OUT.... EVER CONSIDERED CARDIFF AS A VENUE, ASK SLASH OR MATT WHAT THEY THOUGHT OF THE WELSH CROWD.

BE SAFE, BE HAPPY

Dave, I just ordered my Dave Navarro PRS model. Is there any way possible to get the backplate sent out to you and signed when I receive the guitar? It would be awesome to have yours and Paul's signature on it.

Here's some WireImage shots from the Key Club, they'll probably post more later:

If this direct link doesn't work, just type in Dave's name in the Search/Caption area.

Damn those tiny pictures! :D Thanks for the links and the info...sounds like a great time. I would have loved to hear Courtney & CF doing Mountain Song!!!

Ah well...even though I could not be there, I did make a donation for Tsunami Relief to the Red Cross yesterday...so, I guess I was there in spirit. ;)

Thanks Dave for keeping us posted! It makes those of us who can't attend yearn more and more for the West Coast!

Was this broadcasted? Or is there a chance a portion of it will be?

Always,
me

CORI!!! that's what Billy I think said last night, thanks to ALL that are giving, no matter where...It might surprise you that the proceeds from tix they announced last night was only a thousand dollars more than the coins the cherubs at my school brought in two weeks 3400 at last count, and these kids keep bringing in pennies to give...They were made to feel that EVERY contribution, no matter how small, COUNTED..god bless Coinstar....so, those of you that want to give, clean out your purses, your pockets, your car...Coinstar even takes donations for American Red Cross..Hold your OWN mini coin drive today, and you will be ONE degree of separation from CAMP FREDDY...Plus, there seemed to be a lot of extra tshirts....and posters......
hmmmmm

Hi Dave, thanks for smiling in my direction!!! I was distracted by the guy next to me...Carmen was beyond sexy...you know you are the lucky DAWG!!!

wow! sounds like an amazing show...i would've loved to hear courtney doing mountain song...she's one of my fav female singers...it's great to hear that she's doing so well and that she got custody of Frances...she's not had it easy, especially with the whole media staring down at her waiting for her to screw up...so it's nice to see her kind of spit in their faces by really showing them she's a talented, strong female :-).

wish i could've been there...come back to NYC!!

Great pics, great lineup, bad location for me, anyway. I was out in Orlando at the Hard Rock Hotel for Joan Jett and the Blackhearts last night. Didn't she play with CF recently?

Steven Van Zandt was there and was very gracious to everyone, took pics with us. (I'll post eventually). I am sure that he wanted to make his own Camp Freddy and play with Joan last night, but that didn't happen.

What happened to Juliette Lewis?

Posted by: Eric at January 28, 2005 08:19 AM

Hey Dave, glad the show went well. Ok, maybe this is a silly question, or I think I am smarter than I am, but is it intentional that Judas Priest's new song has the exact same riff as Mountain Song? Or is that just a wonderful coincidence?
Thanks, Leah

Posted by: Leah at January 28, 2005 08:35 AM

Hey,
I wish I could have made it to the show, man!
For those of us who weren't able to go, is there anyway to buy one of the posters for the show? I think Darren Grealish designed it.
I know it was limited run, but you never know until you ask, right?
Thanks!

Dave-you planning on doing anymore shows with Messy? That was a good time, you guys sound like you were having fun.

Cheers!!

"If only I was in college and like six hours away!" Tip-catch as much music as you can while in college. I saw the country, met great friends I carry today, and treated my body and soul to the most incredible art I could find. College is super important-but any extra time spent at concerts is time well spent. My favorite band in college-"The Phish" are no longer playing. Ive seen them 70 plus times-and regret I didnt catch more. Carpe diem, carpe ano, carpe vida! Lots of love

I WAS SOOOOO BUMMED. so were my friend this woulda been their first concert. I'm glad it was a great show and i admire you guys for giving all the money to the cause.

Dave,

This is off topic, but since I am in Jacksonville, some of us were wondering if you were going to be in town with Carmen for the Super Bowl? If so will you be around?

Posted by: Mike at January 28, 2005 11:21 AM

Sorry i hate to be a broken record, but i wanna ask these questions again. By the way that show sounds like it kicked ass. You said Slash was there, but didn't mention him in the setlist. Did he play, or just attend? Anyways, back to my queries:

1.) What's it like playing with a frontman/guitarist? Do you have a preference between strictly a frontman or the guy that plays dual roles? I'm lovin' Bloody Mary by the way.

2.) Do the PRS guitars you play have a flat neck such as a Les Paul, or an arched one such as a strat? Just curious, which do you prefer?

3.) Okay, final question...Say there's a barber in a small town. He only shaves people who cannot shave themselves. So if that is the case, does he shave his own face?

Posted by: bill at January 28, 2005 11:50 AM

Sounds like the show was awesome! Too bad I cant be there to see them play, and see Carmen be her beautiful self... maybe someday I'll get to Cali. and come see you Dave! Have a nice dayy!

i just scored a bunch of re-mixes for some feature films and i needed to blow off some steam. i'm glad i got there early - that show was the place to be last night. My girl works at the roxy and she had a bad night because the key club was rockin' - taking it all in. awesome.

Dave,

Last night was amazing. Totally kicked my ass. Seeing Jerry Cantrell live and up close (third from the front) was a life long dream come true. Then comes Lemmy and then Slash. The only thing that could have topped that was if Iggy Pop had come out to sing, "I Want to be Your Dog". And I got a wink from Jerry after screaming out his name.
I don't know if my man was drooling over Carmen (I'm sure he was) I was too busy enjoying the dance myself. We just wish it had been longer.
I wish I had money (school drains so much). Your signature guitar is gorgeous. Maybe someday.
Thanks for the once in a lifetime show.

Would someone kindly tell more details about Carmen's performance with the Bombshells? I am curious what songs they danced to and if they sang at all? Did anyone recognize the other dancers? Thanks!

Damn, that looks and sounds fucking amazing. Lemmy??? God??? Dave, you played onstage with God? How does it feel?

"Who would win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?"
"Lemmy?"
"EEEHHHT!"
"God?"
"EEHHHT! Trick question dickhead, Lemmy is God!"

*For those who've never seen the movie Airheads, you will not understand the above statements referring to Lemmy as God. Then again, if you've never listened to Motorhead, you will not understand the above statements referring to Lemmy as God.*

And Terri Nunn just gets hotter/better with age. And Mountain Song with Courtney? Sounds to good to be true. That entire set is just rockin, wish I was there.

...

That's it, I'm moving out to California! ;)

Anyways, hope everyone's doing well. I miss the PC board, I've been loaded with work lately. I'll try and get a few posts in soon. Goodnight everyone!

Peace,
- Sean

Question-When is the next set date for either TPC or CF? Would like to plan trip, arrange finances, sell possessions, etc. Feb 17th-is that still on or cancelled? I'm confused. Can someone list definite dates for either TPC or CF on the Calendar portion of the TPC board? Or somewhere?
thanks

Relax, all the bad things people are always wishing on Courtney already have happened. Shes just a person, maybe she said something dumb-Ive done it too! Its quite possible she was misquoted. People seem always out to get her. Shes doing better, focus on progress not digression. Progress not perfection. LOL = "Lots of Love" so LOL everybody!

Mornin Dave,

What happened on Rain Song...did Mr. Page tune the guitar and then say "Okay time to write Rain Song...."
or did he write the composition and then go,
"Wait a minute, it'll sound much better if I tune the guitar like this..." ?
I know you didn't write it, but perhaps you have some insight into how that works. Maybe you did something funky like that for a song.
Just got the 1979-08-04 Knebworth show and it's awesome.

Heard you mentioned on Rockline on Wednesday at the beginning of the show. And no matter what those guys say, you're alright with me ;)
(to the Defenders of Dave: iiiiii'm kidding)

Any chance you guys will be touring with VR this spring?

Happy Saturday!
