Camp Freddy Radio Tonight

Dn_cl© 2005 Debbie VanStory

Yeah, yeah, yeah... Aw hell yeah! CFR in da house tonight! Only on the Independent, Indie 103.1FM, Saturdays 6-8pm... Got a couple of guests tonight. Anabella Lewin from Bow Wow Wow, Terri Nunn from Berlin and Liegh Gorman of Adam and the Ants. 80's style! We will be discussing what is coming up for these artists, their history and recapping the Camp Freddy Tsunami Benefit Show with Anabella and Terri. Tomorrow is the Sunday 10, but lemme give a couple of these a shot here and now...

1. Joan Jett - Didn't she play with CF recently?

Yeah, in Vegas. We did Bad Reputation and Pretty Vacant.

2. Is it intentional that Judas Priest's new song has the exact same riff as Mountain Song?

I have heard that but I haven't heard the track. I do know that Mountain Song contains the "Metal 101" chords and progression so it might just be a coincidence. If not, then it's a compliment.

3. Dave-you planning on doing anymore shows with Messy? That was a good time, you guys sound like you were having fun.

Yes, I do. In fact I plan on moving into her studio so I am simply "there" whenever she comes in to work.

4. What's it like playing with a frontman/guitarist?

Shredding. I like having the full sound live and being able to create separate parts for both guitars. Isaacs doesn't play on all songs but when we need that extra push over the cliff, he kicks us into high gear.

5. Do the PRS guitars you play have a flat neck such as a Les Paul, or an arched one such as a strat? Just curious, which do you prefer?

Flat. Always flat, baby.

PcrDon't forget about the Panic Channel Radio! New shows will be updated soon.

Sound like CF Tsunami relief show was a blast!! Sure wish getting to LA was an easier task for me. Say Dave, you ever read Bram Stokers 'Dracula'? There is a book called 'Dracula the Undead' written by Freda Warrington 1997. It is meant to be a sequel to Bram Stokers and it is fabulous! It's one of those books I pass along to friends because it is so good.

BTW Dave, what is your favorite Jimi Hendrix song?
Love yah!

Dave, I just ordered my Dave Navarro PRS model. Is there any way possible to get the backplate sent out to you and signed when I receive the guitar? It would be awesome to have yours and Paul's signature on it.

Dave!!!! How's it going? Hey, was reading chronicles today, and I remembered something you told Courtney last week, that she breaks just like a little girl?

What other Bob Dylan song speaks to you? I had no idea that he wrote I Believe in You..I always thought Sinead O' Connor sang it...

love to you and yours from me and mine,

D-dogg, I got to hear CFR and just wanted to say thank you for making me smile and laugh and feel better. Not only did you make my Thursday night at the tsunami benefit, but you made my Saturday night as well.

Tonight's Camp Freddy Radio was the best!! Can't get "riding on the metro" out of my head, but that's ok!! Some friends were checking it out for the first time tonight. Can't wait to hear what they thought about it. They're going on stage in about 30 minutes, so I gotta run to catch their show.
*sends love to all*

Tonight's CFR was awesome as always, but the acoustic jams were the bomb. More of those in the future would be luscious.

The Camp Freddy shirts that are "out of stock"... are they ever going to be "in stock" in the future?

Hey Dave,
I posted earlier, and im posting again, because my brother and i are debating on who these people are.
In your book (which was very good by the way) there are two photo strips i would love to know who the guys in them are, who is the guy with long hair on the left side of page 16? And who is on page 32/80 in the red photo strip?

Thank you very very much!

quick story from thursday night...

my friend and i were standing on the steps that lead onto the floor. these two chicks, a blonde and a brunette were standing next to us and from time to time they would push against my friend, like she wasn't there. the blonde kept flipping her hair back and it would fly into my friend's face. needless to say, they were already pissing us off. when Carmen came on stage, i leaned to my friend and made the comment "Carmen looks like she's put on weight..." [don't hate me yet - just keep reading] and before i could finish my sentence, the blonde and the brunette made a dramatic turn-around, looked me up and down, and turned back away from us. i wasn't going to just let it go, so i asked them "what?" the blonde turned back around and said "i'm her stylist and i would appreciate it if you didn't talk about her like that - it's rude. we should all have a body like that." she turned around again, so her back was to me, and i leaned into her right ear to explain what i meant. i couldn't get two words in without her throwing her hand in my face. at that point, i didn't care about what she thought of me anymore and i was like "whatever b*tch." both chicks gave me one more dirty look before running backstage, i'm sure to go tell Carmen all about it. so if they did, and carmen said anything to you Dave, let me explain...

the last time Carmen was in Playboy, i remember thinking that she looked very thin, almost too thin for my taste (but that doesn't mean she still wasn't smokin' HOT!). i think women look better with a little bit of meat on them, you know, curves. so when i saw Carmen that night, i was thinking she looks like she's put on weight, and LOOKS GOOD AND HEALTHY. i was not EVEN trying to insult her.

the most irritating thing about the whole situation was how the chick not only took what i said about someone else personally, but she wouldn't even let me try to explain what i meant when she misunderstood me. she spoke with such self-importance and people who really are important, don't treat people like that. and come on! even if i WAS insulting Carmen... if you are gonna work in the entertainment industry, you have to accept that people are going to gossip, and if you are going to take every little comment to heart, then you are in for some real heartache.

anyway, thanks for letting me vent. and let me just stress that i adore Carmen. naturally, i envy her beauty, i admire her perseverance, and i know that she's gotta be a great person for you to be married to her.

thanks for another great show Dave. keep it up.

<3 Sarah

I know who you are talking about. She IS wound a little tightly, don't even worry about it.

Posted by: DN6767 at January 30, 2005 12:19 AM

Dave, I saw you on 'Til Death Do Us Part playing your acoustic. is it the 'leave it around the house don't care if it gets scratched guitar ' or are you very careful with it ?

Posted by: pistolpete at January 30, 2005 01:32 AM

Jeez,i think of great questions all week for the Sunday 10,then sunday comes around and i can't remember any of them.
Here's one,but not a great one,not even good.

Dave-i remember reading interviews with you in magazines years ago(you ain't the british music press much these days-ya gotta remedy that)
Anyway, you gave the impression that you didn't really like the publicity machine when it comes time to promote a record, interview after interview answering the same kind of questions,How do you feel about doing that kind of thing now?

Have a great Sunday

Dave~you are always so good about coming on here, and answering us when we're upset and making us feel better.
I know you did that with me when I was upset about being hung up on and went off; and it was so sweet you came on and replied to SnoWhite. Sarah~Hope you're feeling better about it now.
Hugs

Bonjour 6767 comment allez vous?

Anywho Dave I was wondering if you and the Camp Freddy boys have thought about throwing down your version of "Venus In Furs" from TNO??

Posted by: Juanjay at January 30, 2005 03:49 AM

Hi Juanjay,

Dave performed 'Venus In Furs' with CF.....in NYC, October 2004.... with the composer....the one & only Lou Reed!

Yeah, it would be very cool if Dave, Billy & the guys re-recorded a CF version of it.

take care,
itanja

Wow. Dave, you don't miss a beat. I see that CFR is ALREADY up on the PC radio. Awesome. Now WE won't miss a beat either.

Peace,
-Denise

I've got to say, I really applaud Courtney. It's no secret that the girl's got guts, but she's kicked it up a notch and I think it's fabulous. For her to perform without the chemical induced ego boost is challenging enough, but to forge ahead like a trooper despite that challenge, combined with inevitable discouraging feelings induced by her recent, getting sober weight gain (that she spoke about on CFR, and I'm sure the media will pounce upon like vultures)...it's a double whammy, and those are enourmous obstacles to overcome. It takes tremendous strength to persevere despite having reduced confidence.

Courtney, you've come a long way baby, and if anyone has anything negative to say about it, know you've risen above, smile, and say F-U.

Spreading the love,
Deena

Rantz- (Regarding SteveL)I posted a reply at "Songs by us" at TPC to clarify that I asked for your criticism and it was quite constructive not only to me but the writer and my friend whos studio we worked at. Ill pass it along. Thanks! Steve seems like a good enough dude, things are often mis-construed/interprited when typed over the internet at a post like so. To everyone else I promised mailings for demos to, Ill be mailing them this week.

Does everyone have Weens "Chocolate and Cheese" in their cd collections? Its definately a must have.

Oh, and by the way...this week marks my ******* for 7 months clean. Including nights and weekends!

Dave....so, now that you need to play more music on CFR...does that mean I can regale you with my version of The First Cut is the Deepest? Don't make your decision yet, wait for audition at the Grammys...
