6767/Panic Community
So we are not dead here because we have The Panic Community flowing! I'll still be here on a frequent basis, but I must say that I love how much the board is growing already. It's a great place for conversations and debates and just random stuff. This place is for sure yours, but that place is YOURS! Also, know this. We put it together and run it ourselves, so it's not some guy at a desk at a label or a service. It's us. (OK. We do have desks, but you know what I mean.) Thanks to Steve Isaacs for the tireless work he put into the board. Well done man! Tomorrow we go to the studio to demo a track. I better get to sleep. Peace my babies...

Take care

Ooh I finally read the book after years of searching for it (I didn't realise is was on hiatus). I was a baby unicorn! And I'm from Australia! So I had to mention that because the book says "from America & Europe" and I had to represent!
I remember so much from the old website; I just think you're awesome to allow us to share your world! So a big thank you :)
My fave pic from back then? Dave pashing Unicorn. It's so cute!

Dave
I know that the photo strips in DTTAH aren't necessarily in chronological order, but I was curious whether the photos of you on pages 229 and 231 were taken before or after rehab. You look like you a sense of happiness and peace in the pics.

Good morning everyone. Its almost noon here on the east coast. Thanks everyone for there support, with the Panic Channel.
Mr. Isaacs, I hope I didnt upset you last night, though I doubt I did! I was a little upset with my lack of computer skills. Today Im looking at the site as a new Christmas present. One that came without instructions. Someone should create a manual. Panic Channel for Dummies,or better yet Panic Channel for Boots. Im looking for ideas to tweek my amp, an 1980s fender M-80 combo. I play a Martin acoustic, and a 62 Jaguar. I kinda dig flanger pedals! LOL. But this amp is kinda boring sounding. HELP ME.
Thanks Jezebel for the support, for now Ill reference you as the manual.
Much love.

For the amp question-just so you dont wast your time, Im on a budget that cannot exceed $300. Gotta save for an 8 track
Boots a saurus
Posted by: boots at January 11, 2005 08:47 AM
You could try a line 6 pod that has lots of pretty
authentic amp modelling.
Put it in front of the real amp.
You have a Jaguar? (Greeen with envy)

Hey Dave & "babies" :)
Just saying "hi". I'm glad that this board is going to continue, though the other one is terrific as well. In fact, I'm going to check that one out right now, then head out and start my day.

Yeah, but the Jags a reissue...I like the smaller frets though and the jazz pickups ring. The bridge is kinda half ass. And the Martins a Sigma DN 1 from like 81. I love it as much as any Martin though.
Just wanted to be honest...seeing that someone out there may have a passion for instruments. I love them both. Im not a rock star, just a studio musician....so there perfect. Most of my guitar parts were given to Hip Hop people and sampled on MPC. In other words I like D minor.

I don't know why your card hasn't come, I fear a postal malfunction, not on your part, on ours, because it is already the 11th...Never fear, it will come one day, years from now, and we will be on one of those Ripley's believe it or not shows

Whew! I was a bit frightened we were going to loose this grand place in which we can "talk" with you Dave! Thank you muchly for keeping this great place alive!
I did check out tpc boards and I can't wait till the site is up and running totally. Such excitement! :)
Not much here in the great Pacific Northwest, except we are getting more snow tonight. Wowser, this is the 3rd time this month we have gotten a significant amount of snow. I am freezing LOL! The kids love it though, and my big kid too :) You know how it is ladies with significant others.... those boys may be older, but they act like little kids when it snows (or at Christmas with the kids's toys LOL!!)!!
Have a great evening all!!!
Stay dry and warm!

DAVE- I have been a fan for many, many years. I just stumbled upon this community a couple days ago, though. I am floored. You are so connected to your fans, I had no idea. It's SO cool. So many musicians claim to be devoted to their fans but you actually deliver. It means so much to us.
Ok, enough gushing, I was just curious,
do you & Carmen want kids?

The more and more I lurk over at the board the more I’m impressed. Is it just me or have there been many changes since yesterday. The format looks a lot cleaner.

Hey -
Does anyone else find that The Panic Community site takes a long time to load? I have DSL/cable, which is normally quite fast, but the TPC page takes a very long time to load.
Mind you, it's definitely worth the wait. But I'm just wondering why that is... (Not much of a techie, as you can surmise!)
Thx,

yeah, I can't get to the message board at all at the moment. I'm guessing there's an update or something going on behind the scenes and it should be back to normal soon.

Dave
Hey man I saw Carmen on the Kid Rock Christmas special with the Pussycat Dolls.. anywho I was wondering if you had any plans of laying down guitar tracks with the Dolls or having them guest on something you do.
Also how do you get that back ground noise on "Sunny Day" right before the solo. It sounds to me like a Wah with someone flipping the pickup switch with one of the pickups turned down.. at least thats all I could figure from my noodling.

Dave,
thanks for the great comments about this board. i find it a refreshing place to journey to now and then. i was talking to my grrl about 6767 and she was like "ah - it's probably some publicist eating candy and answering questions about what pedals dave uses, etc". I was like - "nah it just feels like the real deal" - and other than a gang chicks bestowing verbal love on dave - other stuff is being talked about - some of it dripping in truth". I'm glad you cleared it up, and i believe because i am a believer. my whole journey involves truth and i want to know the truth and i want to hear truth from the ones that disseminate truth.
Hey whassup with Perry removing himself from the net? His site was dope and yet he took it all down.
i like the dynamics of this particular portal (6767) on the web. lets keep it open and real!
I guess my first direct question to Dave is in order. Dave - do you have any tips on recording distorted guitar sounds directly into protools, logic, etc? I personally use the line 6 pod, a few boss pedals, a dbx 160x, and an eventide h3000 for delays and stuff. could you give us at least one cool insight into direct guitar recording? i know you have worked with some awesome producers. i am sure the digi-underground will enjoy any response you may offer.
peace, love, and ultra-production!

Goodmorning everyone.
SCobra-You know Protools? Thats a crazy program to learn. Im in envy, that program turns a computer into a 100 thousand dollar studio, and to know it well can get you lots of work and lots of praise. I had a roommate with a DR-16 and ADATS that was really fun to work with, but he was really wealthy. Its great how programs like Protools, Cakewalk, ACID can make things affordable to a broader range of musicians. Id love to send you my DEMO from the studio-Epics Poor Portion was the project. If your ever bored, mess around with a flanger for vocal parts, You can get this distant unique sound. GRUNGY.
Everyone out there-Id love to preview everyones ART out there. And would love to share mine. Just a thought!

Protools sounds cool, kust using an old version of Cubase but it does the trick.
Just finished reading Neil Young's Biography Shaky. Good chapter about the first digital recording systems. He bought a dozen and made some unlistenable stuff. After a while he swapped back to analogue. He said that a digital recorded song sounded like a shower turned onto those really powerful, sharp sprays that almost feel like needles. He compared analogue to a nice bath.
Got to admit I've got an ancient wood-effect 4-track, that weighs a tonne, chews up tapes but some sounds are f**king brilliant on it and I've never heard their warmth matched on anything digital. Like vinyl records Vs CD I guess.
No point to this, just interested to read your comments and thought I'd share mine. At the end of the day its 'horses for courses' I suppose.
