R.I.P. Dimebag
My thoughts and prayers are with Darrell's spirit and his family. His music will live forever. He was an amazing talent and one of my favorite new school guitarists. This community will surely miss him. Peace, brother. Thank you for all the music!

Dave,
Do you have a Dimebag memory or ever get a chance to play with him?
Thanks,

Oh my gosh...I am in utter shock :( R.I.P. Dimebag. I saw Pantera with my Dad at Ozzfest 2000.

I was never a Damageplan or Pantera fan, but OMFG what a loss. One of the great metal guitarists is gone. Dimebag will certainly be missed.

A legend taken away too quickly.
I can't even imagine what Vinnie Paul and the rest of his family are going through. My condolences to them and anyone at that show who had to see what happened.

I havent really listened to much Pantera but what i had heard I liked. It was clear the guy had a great talent.

RIP DIMEBAG.
I never knew much Pantera either, but Dimebag is on at least 5 covers of Guitar World each year, so he must have been loved and respected tremendously.

It is a shock - RIP Darrell and Vinny
Posted by: Angel at December 9, 2004 11:29 AM
Does anyone know the situation with Vinnie?
...i know he was shot but that's all i could find out. Some sites are sayin TWO bandmembers were murdered, but they don't say who the other was.
Posted by: Rob.K at December 9, 2004 11:33 AM
It's amazing that someone will wake up one day and decide to kill a person because he doesn't like his band or doen't agree with a band break up. The world is a fucked up place and things are getting worse...
I'm in shock
Posted by: Jorrge at December 9, 2004 11:37 AM
I am truly at a loss of words. I am stepping away from the board for a few days to mourn. I am trying to be positive, but the gravity of it all of this is too heavy. I have to keep saying to myself (some sort of desperate hope/ trying to cope with this horrible situation) that Jimi Hendrix better start working on some of his guitar chops because when Dime-Bag gets there, he is going to have his hands full becuase a "Heavy-Metal Legend" is moving in. Sincere condolences go out to the Abbott family, family members, the band, fans at the show/others caught in the reckless crossfire and their fans worldwide. I am going to miss seeing him play live and his 4x12 guitar cabinets stacked to the ceiling.....
I am also wishing/hoping that the other unknown band members (Vinny, Pat, or Bob) which the press won't give details on, are alive/recovering.

A very tragic moment, a great musician, a brutal one with songs like warped but with great sense of melody like the chords for cemetry gate. He will be missed throughout the metal and guitar scene.
I feel great sorrow and very sorry for the fact his brother vinne paul was playing drums when this happened and saw it and i hope he may mourn undisturbed aswell as his drinking/guitar/best friend Zakk wylde.

R.I.P. Dimebag.......all the man was doing was working, doing something he loved & making his fans happy!
Hope the bastard who killed him gets the death penalty, which, despite my somewhat 'lib' leanings....I am totally for.
What's with all these talented people dying in December? What an awful way for their families to remember the Holidays.
My prayers go to his family.

Wow. RIP to everyone who lost their lives yesterday. That is such sad, devastating news. Nobody deserves to be forced from this earth in such a violent, unexpected way. Very scary, indeed.
Best wishes and stay safe,

I do not know much about Pantera, but I am sure he was loved by his friends, family and fans, and I feel very badly that his death happened in such a violent and senseless way. When the world seems awful and mean these days, I remind myself that there *is* good in the world, even though sometimes it feels like there isn't.
For everyone out there who is sad about his passing, remember his music, and how he made you smile....
Posted by: Elizabeth at December 9, 2004 01:49 PM
I can't believe there are all these people here, rock music fans, that never knew of Dimebag or Pantera! Dime was a huge influence musically on my friends and I growing up. Everyone would try to play as fast as him, or as hard as him. He was definately an Individual. It's almost incomprehensible. You walk out on stage to do something you love and before you know it...It's gone.
Even though I don't really listen to that type of music anymore, Dime was an amazing person and he will certainly be missed.

When I read that on CNN I just stared at the screen in disbelief for about 5 minutes.
It still never amazes me the things human beings are capbible of doing.

Dave,
Thanks for the respect to Dimebag, He was a great talent. He is one of the main reasons I pick up my axe everyday. R.I.P Dime
Posted by: Casey at December 9, 2004 02:17 PM
I'm still in shock...Pantera was one of the first shows I saw live, and was totally blown away by the energy. I'm in such disbelief voer the whole thing. It is scary when someone is just doing their job, especially as a performer making people happy, and in an instant everything is changed forever. If this is a case of a deranged fan (which it seems to be), this is truely disturbing....RIP all those who lost their lives over something so insignificant.
Posted by: Abby at December 9, 2004 02:21 PM
Cori... major hugs to you today. Know that you're in my thoughts.
And yeah... it's good to be back. Work has been insane lately with some really crazy hours, so I haven't been online much. It's getting me closer to realizing my dream though, so it's all good.
My thoughts are also with Dimebag Darrell, the band, his family and the fans that were there last night. There's no reason any artist should have to put their life on the line in order to perform, just as there's no reason fans should have to do the same just to attend a show. No reason at all...
Dave... Awesome performance last night, bro. Also saw you on the VH1 Coolest Years thing, talking about your experience with mushrooms. Brought back some memories and cracked me up as well...
Much love and respect to Dave and The Family...
Peace,

sorry 4 dwellin on this but jeeeeeeesus. the way he died is fucked up!
i read abit on how he died:
"I was up close to the stage on the side where Dimebag was playing," wrote one fan on the band's website. "Then I saw the guy jump out of the crowd onto the stage. He was yelling something about how 'You broke up Pantera, you ruined my life. What about Phil?' " - referring to Phil Anselmo, the Pantera singer who did not join Damageplan. " 'He needs heroin money.'
sum fuckin 'fans' need to sort their sad lil lifes out.
i bet he's probably playing sum mad heavy riffs 2 god as gods headbangin. u know gods a metaller. long hair and the beard. hell yeh! peace bruv.
Posted by: Gagan at December 9, 2004 02:49 PM
good lord, i didn't check the news in the morning and come online and find stuff like this out...
Honestly I don't know much about the guy and never really was that into Pantera, but the whole thing is just terrible! Why in the world would you bring a gun into a club and do something like that? what a nut. Kinda makes you wonder how safe we really are at concerts...
my condolences to all those affected personally by dime bag's passing.
on a positive note, I GOT THE JOB!! (that I had interviewed for last week). Negotiating salary now.
Also, I'M GETTING A CAR!!

My 2 cents on Dimebags death:
I was in shock when I heard it this morning. Man, people can't even go and enjoy a show. What is this world comming to? I guess they have to start frisking people at the door. I am SO pissed that this happened. Strange that it happen on John Lennon's anniversary. I mean, under the same cercumstances.
R.I.P. Dimeback - This world lost another talented person.
Much love to all, CC
P.S. Jezzi, I sent out your x-mas card today.

Today is a very sad day. I was watching the news after I got home late last night and had heard about a club shooting and the guitarist of a band was killed. but didn't find out till this morning who. I was in complete shock. I saw Pantera years ago with Skid Row and I was truly amazed by dimebag. He will be truly missed in the music scene. He was one of the greatest players.
Thank you Dave for your respect.... we shall all mourn together.

I can't believe that in this day and age, something so horrific could happen. Maybe it's because I'm a sneeze away from NYC, but I can't remember the last time I went to a club without going through a metal detector, having my bag searched, and at times patted down by a female guard. I just read that the club didn't have a metal detector. HUH??? I find that really alarming. Maybe it wouldn't have even stopped the guy, but still. Regardless, it's a terrible tragedy and an incredible loss.
Dave, being a performer, I imagine it must be not only disturbing and saddening to hear of something like this happening, but a little frightening too.
On another note....
Freak:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR FREAK, (the incredibly talented and creative guy that we all appreciate so much for being such a great member of the family and for contributing such cool stuff including a website with some rocking artwork and kick ass music that is best played very, very loudly), HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! :)

yeah, Sonny, really...never knew you to feel the need to pimp your own site....What a fitting day to do just that, when our minds are turned towards so-called 'fans' who feel they should have a say in the creative directions of musicians they admire...like I said in email, how many degrees seperate these "fans" from that 'other' guy....

Congratulations Maria on the Job/Car and Happy Birthday Freak. Hope you are having a blast.
I’m still in disbelief on what happened yesterday. It just goes to show you how fragile life is and that anything is possible. One moment you are thinking about what you want to have for dinner or obsessing over some meaningless thing and a few hours/minutes later like the switch of a light you’re dead.
It just blows me away how someone could feel justified to inflict such pain on another.
I know this is going to sound lame but on a side note, I’m going home to clean my room. If was to die before that I would die all over again with the idea of someone having to go in there. And I’m wearing pretty underwear, always.

I don't know what to say. "Vulgar Display Of Power" the title say's it all.
Life ...Death... Anger ... Hatred...Energy. For the past decade this has been one of the 'go to ' albums when in the car, sitting in traffic, pissed at the world!
Every song better than the last, putting a grin of sin on my face.
He has unquestionably made a tremendous impact on metal and many, many lives
and will be missed. Rest peacefully Dime!

This is bullshit! now that I've had a couple of drinks to let it sink in. BULLSHIT! Pantera, along with BLS, was one of the last true metal bands. And Dime was one badass guitar player, and a hell of great guy. Everyone I know that ever met him has said so. Phil was the asshole, and I know this sounds horrible but why not him. Most metal bands suck, hell most of them don't even understand what the fuck its about. But Pantera was different, they got it! As hard as this is hiting me, I feel so much for Vinne and the rest of his clan. I miss you bro, and a blacktooth grin for you.

the previous posts are not mine, i would be willing to bet they are a certain individual from aintnoright.com that goes by fidel.
i never pimp my site anywhere, there's no need and i never post here either, nothing personal, but i just thought you guys should know that any posts put here besides this is not me.
i have my own disagreements with dave, but i'm not gonna trash his site with them or try to argue with fans of his or his band.
considering anyone could put in any name and post, you guys should know it would be completely easy to post as someone else.
i wish dave and the panic channel all the best.
anyway, i hope this clears things up, if you have a problem with the photo i put, i understand, but these posts are not me.

Happy B-Day FREAK!!!
To the mystery person with a grudge... Relax.
We are all on borrowed time and it should be used for the common good of all around us. If Dave were to leave us from some unnatural event, you would probably blabber yourself to sleep. So chill and enjoy the fruits of all that is around us.
And if Dimebag's untimely end didn't get your attention maybe this will.
Someone walked into a show and started blowing people away, and for what! Could have been me, could have been you. Are you going to piss away your time and ours with crap? Or are you going to sit back and enjoy the music that Dave, Perry, Stephen, Chris, Steve, and Eric will continue to make in whatever form?
Cheers,
Mike C.

My Saturn's never given me any problems (10/11 years old), and Hondas are known to be reliable and hold their value...but I'd definitely go for the Ferrari Maria!!! lol
Honda is coming out with their new Hybrid Accord...it doesn't look any different from the regular one, it gets great gas mileage, and is said to have faster acceleration than the traditional Accord!! It starts at around $30,000...(remember that you are using less gas so the long-term saving is a plus)...
Posted by: Abby at December 9, 2004 07:57 PM
Mortisha, HELL YEAH on the car and the job! I know they're not anything fancy or expensive, but I got a new Hundai this year and I love it. It's got a 10 year bumber to bumper warranty with free roadside assistance. That in itself is awesome. It's a smooth ride, good on gas... cheap too!
Whatever you decide, I wish you all the best!
