Camp Freddy 1/27
So, I spoke to Billy and we decided to change the "free" show at the Key Club on Jan 27th, from free to $10.00 a head in order to provide some support to the people of South East Asia. The show is still first come first served with no guest list. I know we promised a free event, but in light of what has happened, it just feels like the right thing to do. Hope to see you there...

Heavy!
Hey now. What a day that was. I understand that people are passionate about their feelings and all, but let's just come back down to earth for a second. As for Sonny, he is just keeping the Jane's alive over there. I am good with that. Meanwhile, Carmen and I are having a lot of fun. Looking forward to a new year...
Peace to all,
Dave

Goin' On Holiday
1. What's your live rig consist of these days? Still using all the individual Boss pedals?
Yeah, still on the Boss kick for the live set up, but in the studio, anything goes. Of course, I still use the Jimi Hendrix Cry Baby.
2. If you want I will put my version of the tab of Bloody Mary up on mxtabs.net, it should be all correct, but if you want to keep the tab secret I wont put it up.
Be my guest, let me know when it's up, I'd be curious to see it. I can't verify it, however, as I cannot read tabs.
3. I am blown away by this song, . . . are you a 30 seconds to mars fan Dave?
Sure. Jared and Shannon are friends of mine. We actually spoke recently about doing a show or two together next year.
4. Is it too late to sign up for the street team? And what is the e-mail to do so again?
Never too late. We haven't even started with all of that yet. Just sign up at The Panic Channel.
5. Will the full length vid of the show be available to purchase one day, perhaps after the CD release?
I don't know about that, but there will be plenty of live visuals included within the album.
6. Dave will TPC album have any guest musicians on it?
For the most part, no. Although keyboardist and friend Matt Rhode has added some spice here and there on a couple of tracks so far.
7. What ever happened to that Ibanez you had with the Nothing Shocking twins on?
Still have it. Always will.
8. Is it true that you used Ibanez guitars? If so, why the switch? Thanks!
During what can only be called a "stupor" I broke several Ibanez guitars while on tour in 1991. My buddy, who played guitar with the Rollins Band, loaned me one of his PRSs to do a show. I found myself thinking, "These are quite good." The rest, as they say, is history. Nothing against Ibanez, it just worked out that way.
9. Dave do you have to carry Carmen's lipstick in your pocket when you go out?
Not often, but it has been known to happen. I'd say like 3 or 4 times out of four years.
10. Dave - no offense, but are you sure you're not confusing tabulature... With notation?
Well, probably not because I have never even tried tabs. I can get through notation if I have to, but I never really looked at tabs.
I hope you all had a great holiday. We sure did. My wife and I are going out of town this week and there is a computer at the hotel we are staying at. I'll try to stay in touch. As for Daisy, she is well taken care of by our assistant. We would never leave her alone.

Christmas Day!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! We have a special CFR tonight. (Parental Guidance Suggested) Also, for those of you who haven't received the e-mail with the Christmas gift link, it is here on The Panic Channel website. The track was recorded and produced by Brian Virtue and directed by Marc Racco. We have received so much support from all of you without anything available in terms of content, that we figured, it's about time we give you something concrete. The song is called "Bloody Mary" and was inspired by, as someone here pointed out, a character in my book named Mary. Lyrics by Steve Isaacs and music by the Channel. We hope you enjoy what is a small piece of what's to come in the New Year.
Carmen and I are off to see the family and do the Christmas thing. Exchange presents, see the kids, eat too much and share stories by the lights of the tree. This has been one of the greatest years of my life and I am so grateful to all of you for sharing this place with me. I wish you all a very Happy Holiday.
Love,
Dave

Christmas Eve!
1. Are you involved in any Aids programs?
Yes, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation.
2. Tre's question about Prince and Carmen. Prince may have written songs for Carmen, but he wrote those two songs you mentioned back in the 80s, when she was still in high school. Still, if I had to guess Dave's answer, I'm sure he'd be very proud.
You got that right! Prince is kind of the s@#t!
3. I decided to listen to some music so flipped your solo CD in the player, and just as rexall was finishing, we drove past a chemist called Rexall.I was wondering if its a one-off chemist,or a chain.
It is a chain. The song is named after the drug store, more so, all that has gone on in it!
4. I was at the tail end of the postings yesterday, so I thought I'd ask again if anyone recorded "Bloody Mary" from the very recent CFR show?
That show will not air until the 1st of January.
5. How often do you write riffs/songs from scratch on acoustic?
Quite often. I intentionally only have an acoustic at home, so I can focus on writing songs rather than hypnotizing myself with overdrive. I save that for the rehearsal studio.
6. How come all your gigs are on weeknights?
Sunset Blvd. can be a real drag on weekends, so we try to create a stress free travel and parking environment for our audience as well as us.
7. Dave, I noticed at the show at the key club you are playing a paul reed smith....how long have you been using those guitars and what did you used to play?
I have been using them since 1991, but I have been known to rock the occasional Strat, Les Paul and even Ibanez from time to time.
8. Everytime I hear "I am writing this down" in Slow Motion Sickness it is eerily familiar. Was that line inspired by another song? Possibly from the 60's/70's?
I don't think so. Not intentionally anyway. Perhaps there is an unconcious thing going on there.
9. Do you have an idea of when/if TPC songs will be posted on-line?
"Bloody Mary" is up right now!
10. Btw, is her appearance, on that new TV show you mentioned awhile back, "Summerland", going to be a permanent one?
She is on for like 6 upcoming eoisodes.
Merry Christmas to all!

Upgrade
Thanx for the comments and input. Part of me feels like, as someone said, with all that's going on in the world there must be something better to talk about. The other part of me feels like, with all that's going on in the world, why not just lighten up for two hours a week? For those of you that find "blue" material offensive, you may not wish to tune in for about two weeks, as the shows are pre-taped, and in the meantime, Billy and I will have conversations, coffee and will return live for call in comments in the New Year. Christmas Eve coming up! Have a great holiday and look for our Christmas gift on The Panic Channel Site. (Not just yet.)
Love,
Dave

12 Days? Huh?
Billy and I taped our New Year special last night. Thank you to everyone who called in. Sometimes, I think we push the envelope of what's cool and what's not. We went through a series of calls, spoke to a stripper who we got to pull over and masturbate on the phone and continued our "Girls From The Back of the Weekly" segment. We were going nuts. Almost like, since it isn't live, nobody will hear it. Then we go to the phone. A girl named Chloe called and asked for us to play Green Day. She had the sweetest little voice. We asked her how old she was and she said, "11". Awwwww!!!!! Ouch! We have 11 year old listeners? It dawned on us that maybe we are starting to go a little too far. Maybe we should lay off the coffee and stick to programming music. I think we played like 3 or 4 songs and just yapped for the rest of the time. The good news is I debuted a Panic Channel song called Bloody Mary. First show of the New Year. Billy and I both thought we were taping a New Year's Eve show and my plan was to get the band on the show in 2004, but when we started our show, we found out we were taping for New Year's Day. Oh well, so TPC kicks off the New Year instead of closing 2004. Perhaps that is even better.
So, as I said before I got my shopping all done. Carmen and I went out and hit the stores on Tuesday. As someone here pointed out, and I was unaware of this, girls tend to shop for themselves. It turns out that the bags Carmen brought home with us that day, contained a lot of stuff... for her. She still has shopping to do and guess who gets to go with her? One of her girl friends? (Great idea!) No. That would be me. Here is the prayer I said to myself and God on Tuesday: "Lord, grant me a new experience of this endeavor. Allow me to enjoy myself and be of service to my wife today." Hey, it worked on Tuesday... Why not today?
Still working on the Christmas gift for everyone on the mailing list. Have a great day and welcome back to reality, Steve Isaacs. 12 days without the Internet. 12 days of Christmas. Wait. How is it 12 days of Christmas? I never really understood that.
"How did you meet Billy Morrison?"
I honestly do not remember, but I sure am glad that I did.

Happy New Year
Well, that wasn't so bad. I got it all done in about three hours. I dropped a bundle, but whatever, it is the giving time of year. Carmen and I actually had a really good time together shopping away. By the way, tonight, Billy and I are taping the CFR show for New Year's from 6-8pm L.A. time. It won't be live so we would love it if you guys used the phones and called in. The number is 1-877-4LA-1031. Pretend like it is New Year's Eve if we get you on the line, because we are going to try to play it off as if we are actually live on the 31st. We will be asking about resolutions, what your plans for the evening are and all that. Basically, a hoax. I'm sure we will get busted, but try to play along if you call in.

Non-Digital
Shopping... Ugh... I really do not like the shopping. Today Carmen and I commence the shopping. At least we can go together, but man, I am so not into it. I don't mean just for Christmas, I don't even like it when I need a pair of socks, like, when I know exactly what I am going to purchase and it isn't Christmas. I go through this every year and it's always fine, but still... yuk. Parking. "Right there! Is that guy leaving?" "No, he just pulled in." "Damn." "Circle around again." "Let's try one more level up." Department stores. Ever notice that when you are in a department store and you need to use the bathroom, it's always like 7 miles from where you are? "Where is the bathroom?" "Oh, take the escalator to the 4th floor, make a right, past the appliances, all the way at the rear you should see the men's shoe department, it's right there you can't miss it." Why does the phrase, "all the way" have to always accompany this question? Plus, if you are shopping with someone, they never have to go when you do. 9 out of 10 times, my wife will have to go when I return. That is, after I have finally found her again because she just goes on auto pilot in those places. Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays. I suppose in order to enjoy it, one must go through a series of nightmarish events in order to be rewarded with joy and peace and family smiles. My wife loves it though. The shopping I mean. I guess one of her secret gifts this year is me going with her without complaining even once. If she has fun, why should I ruin it? I'd much rather whine to you guys and walk the departments in blissful harmony with the one I married. Merry Christmas, Carmen, you won't hear a "peep" out of me today!

10 More
(Me with a new Yamaha acoustic, to be debuted in January at the NAMM show.)
1. I know that you're into Forensic Science, have you ever watched any HBO's Autopsy episodes from their America Undercover series?
Of course I do!
2. Dave, do you ever lurk or read the posts at Xiola.org or ANR.com?
No. I used to. I love those sites as they keep the Jane's music and legacy alive.
3. Having a beautiful wife like Carmen I must assume that you have to deal with your jealous side (if it exists) quite often. Do you have any advice for us, pre-martial and beyond?
Well, jealousy is kind of a useless emotion in a relationship. You just got to learn how to not trip. If you realize that there will always be attractive and interesting people out there but you can choose to not act on any impulses, then you are set.
4. Quick question. How old is "TOO OLD" to be able to get in this business? Just a curious musician here.
Well, you are never too old to do what you love.
5. Dave I heard a rumor you and Carmen were expecting is this true?
No, not true.
6. Now that you're clean (and Thank God for that), do you ever look back and say "Damn, what a waste of time that was"? I mean, I know none of us can live in the past, but still, do you ever wonder, "what if?"
Never. Let's be honest. It wasn't ALL bad!
7. Question: where's Steve? He hasn't updated in over a week???
Well, he has had some kind of "issue" with his DSL service. Should be back soon.
8. Dude - aren't you supposed to keep the guitar thing a secret?
A secret from you guys? Never! Actually I don't know. Nobody ever said anything about it to me. Oh well, what can you do?
9. Have you ever read or watched the movie version of "Permanent Midnight"?
Yes. In fact, Jerry is a friend of mine and helped me deal with a lot of stuff regarding my own book. He encouraged me to just let go when I was struggling with whether or not I should put the book out.
10. Anyway, a while ago you mentioned that TPC will be playing again in February. I was wondering if you had decided on the place and if it would be a 21+ (hoping no) or closer to an all ages.
I think it'll be closer to all ages, on or around the 17th of February.

A Quick 10
(Carmen and I can find a mirror just about anywhere...)
CFR was a repeat last night, we didn't make it in. Next time for sure. (It has already been taped.)
1. Do you watch the TV show 24? I like it but only on DVD because I cannot wait one or two weeks to find out what happens next.
I am way into 24. When my wife goes to sleep early, I'll watch like 3 or 4 episodes in a row. I'm the same way, I need it on DVD. I even got season 3 pirated from e-bay cause I cannot wait for it's release. Now I am all caught up and ready to TiVo season 4.
2. In light of your hectic schedule, do you ever get a chance to actually read through the posts here on a given day and follow the drama and/or hilarity that sometimes ensues? Or do you (understandably) skim through them? If you ever do the former, what is your overall impression of the '6767 family' that has formed?
I read them all baby! There is always a computer around. I love this family, even the haters at times as they shake things up. You are all so multi-dimentional and interesting and talented.
3. When you go out clubbing, are you more of a sitting-down-watching-people kind of guy?
Well, yes, for the most part I am a leaning up against the bar kind of guy, but I will make one exception. If my wife wants me to dance with her, I dance my little heart out. Luckily, I don't go out clubbing very often.
4. So, what do you think Dave, what's your favorite, or you could even tell us what Peanuts character you most identify with...
Snoopy, fo' shizzle...
5. Dave, I hate to 'spam' you :D but I wasn't sure if you seen it before... I wrote an article on my inspirations, and you're in it...
To share a list with Chuck Yeager is an honor... Thank you...
6. I guess your still thinking about, if you could get anything for xmas what would it be?
I'm not much of a "stuff" guy. I'm fairly streamlined that way. I'd say a week off with my wife, which I AM getting this year!
7. Do ya still get guitar effects pedals sent to ya,what was the last one with a crazy sound were you impressed with?
I really love the old school Frequency Analyzer.
8. Dave~What else do you do when your wife goes to sleep early?
Internet and crime related television. Nothing like a good forensic program to drift you off into silent slumber.
9. Dave....the long black coat with boa on it your wearing in three days....where did you get/will you give it me?
Anna Sui made it for me. It was stolen many years ago...
10. You mention buying a copy of 24 on Ebay...how do you go about that? If people know your ebay name they can watch what you buy and stuff.
I have a "guy" who actually does it at my request. He is an avid e-bay shopper so it is no sweat for him to just order up a season of 24 or West Wing or something....

CFR?
I am deep in the workload so I don't know if I am going to make it down to the studio for CFR tonight. I know that Billy will hold down the fort if I cannot attend.
1. Rumor has it, Reznor asked you to guest on the new NIN album... if that is true, is it gonna go down?
No, untrue. As much as I would love it, I think I might be a little too "Us Weekly" for Trent.
2. Guess you probably heard about Perry playing with Flea, John F and Jack Irons. Pretty amazing huh?
I'm way into that. I'm sure it will be killer and I look forward to it. Four of my favorite musicians together never sucks!
3. Dave, I didn't know you are a CHP Captain, I now have an image of you riding around dressed up like those guys from CHiPs, it is disturbingly Village People-ish.
Thankfully, I don't have to wear that outfit as I am the Captain, however, my patrol men do, and damn, they look good! Saucy!
Seven days until Christams. A little something from the boys coming your way on December 25th.
P.S. My World Class Angler Bait and Tackle Event went really great! Over 100 people showed up!

ANTM/10
ANTM (Another reality show in the States.): I was a littile shocked that Eva won. Oh well, I was pulling for Amanda. Here is me with last year's winner, Yoanna, at a fashion show for Lord's.
1. Ha, wait a minute, did you just mention the stuff about taking heat for collaborating with Christina, so you could show off that favorable picture??
Definitely!
2.I think that the victims' family and friends do get some sort of gratification or some feeling of justice when the killer is executed. Dave when your mother's killer is executed, will you feel this way?
I honestly don't think so. I just feel like the punishment will fit the crime. Nothing gratifying to me about killing on any level.
3. Any chance at Axl Rose playing a Camp Freddy Show. With Matt in the band that would really rock!
There is always a standing invitation out to Axl!
4. To those who have an issue with Dave making what was probably a ridiculous amount of cash by playing while a hot latina chick writhes around him - GET OVER IT.
Haha! Thank you, but whenever I do one of those "guest" appearances, it's just for fun and for free, no cash... but the hot writhing latina didn't hurt the decision process. In fact, the choice was quite easy. Plus, that girl DOES have skills.
5. Who are your picks for best drummer (both classic and modern)?
Hard one. Classic: Bonham and Moon. Modern: Smith, Grohl and PERKINS!
6. I was wondering what's your opinion on the "gateway theory" that holds that marijuana use leads to doing other drugs?
Well, I believe in the predisposition to addiction. Some have it and some do not. The gateway theory is more times than not, true for those who have the "addict gene", but I also have plenty of stoner friends who aren't addicts and therefore have never moved on to harder stuff.
7. Have RHCP gone pop. Or has pop gone alternative?
I think those guys have been sticking to who they are for so long, that they could really never do any wrong. Even their so called "pop" material is uniquely their own sound.
8. Given that you've found your own sense of spirituality, would you agree with Einstein?
"When you examine the lives of the most influential people who have ever walked among us, you discover one thread that winds through them all. They have been aligned first with their spiritual nature and only then with their physical selves."
I don't know. I wouldn't disagree. I can't speak for others but I'm sure he was correct more often than incorrect. Granted, this statement has nothing to do with math so I tend to back it.
9. If I hear another person say how terrible it was that you replaced John Fru in the Chilis I will actually cry... can't you sort them out Dave, go rough them up or something?
They are entitled. I will say this though. They never seem to want to admit that at the time, John left the band to get his life together and that the other guys hired me. All I did was say "yes" to the offer of playing with some of my favorite musicians and friends. I'm happy that John is back, and I am happy I could be a part of keeping the band moving forward until he was able to re-claim his position. For that, I am truly proud of my time with RHCP.
10. A lot of holiday plans questions:
We are going to hang with the family for Christmas then go on a long awaited vacation/honeymoon, just Carm and I.
I'm off to go finish up the TPC Christmas gift. Look for it December 25th!
Peace my Idren,
DMN-TPC
P.S. Although I have been very busy, I have had a chance to look into that Highway 395 problem!

Bummer!
I really wanted to see Jennifer take it tonight on The Apprentice. Poor thing, she really was the more attractive of the two (Wasn't that a job requirement?), plus, she kind of ruled the last live board room in my opinion. If I was going to hire either Kelly or Jennifer to work "under" me, well, I guess you can see where this is going...
A lot of great questions today, I'll try to get to at least 10 tomorrow.
Also, Christmas is around the corner. The boys and I will have a special holiday gift for all of you at The Panic Channel site on December 25th!
Goodnight...
Dave

Just So Random
(You know, I have taken a lot of heat from the die hards for my collaboration with Christina. I gotta tell you, from this angle, I don't see the problem!)
Well, the whole Peterson thing really spawned a conversation of differing ideas. I must admit, that I am a little biased when it comes to violent crimes. My thinking is that humans are very resilient creatures and are able to adapt to the worst of conditions. So, although one school of thought is that it might be better to let someone rot in jail forever than to give them the quick fix of a Death Penalty, another school of thought is that, even in jail, one can eat, make friends, laugh, play games, become sexually gratified and adjust to the life inside. Actually make a home of it. (What do I know? I have never spent more than a night in a holding tank for drunk driving... but I kind of had a blast.) The guy has been inside so long anyway that he is basically just going back home. They won't get to carrying out the sentence for quite some time. My mother's killer has been sitting on the Row for at least 10 years now.
Today is more writing and we start some mixing and finishing touches on some music tomorrow. We have been on a kind of creative roll as of late. We call it creative mode, where we just don't second guess anything as we go. Just spill it out. Many people have asked me how we do our writing. We spill it all out, good and bad and uncertain in the creative mode, then after we have a body of work, we go into edit mode and fine tune or throw stuff away...
I don't know if the e-mail situation everyone is talking about is on our end, but I will look into it. Being a Mac user, I kind of know nothing about the whole virus thing. I know that our assistant, a PC user, just went through some virus hell and it appears to be going around. A word of caution, we are not sending anything out on a mass level and haven't for a while. Unless you get a TPC response to a personal e-mail, I'd toss anything unsolicited.
Have a Beautiful Day!!!

Update/Verdict
(Me and "The Reality Sisters", Claire and Jodi, hanging at The Rainbow late night.)
Nothing new to report. Just wrapping up the year with rehearsals, writing and mixing some recorded stuff. The TPC site should be updated fairly soon. I think we might have a new Quicktime or two coming, new photos and info, etc. Also, we will be announcing a show in February soon, yes, in L.A. again. We were thinking of going out of town, but then, how would we get to The Rainbow after? I mean, let's be reasonable here. (Actually the Feb. show will be our last local show for a while.) January is all about writing and with the exception of the show, February should be about finishing up the record. A lot of birthdays this month. Happy birthday to all who are celebrating, my father is a fellow Sagittarius and we just celebrated the other day. As for the Peterson verdict, I'm all for it. There is a lot of Death Penalty arguments to be made but in my opinion, the Death Penalty is appropriate when it comes to crimes like the Peterson case. "You're goin' down Red Knight!!!! Down, down, down, Red Knight goin' down!"

The Sunday 10
Thanx to Skot for the Camp Freddy clips in the Camp Freddy Radio Clips section...
1. What were your reasons\motivation for starting up 6767.com again?
Several reasons. I just missed it, we are starting a new band and we are trying to really go from the ground up, to let people really know what's going on and to be able to interject when the news is incorrect, to have some control over misinformation and because it is fun.
2. If you were sitting on Santa's lap, what would you ask him for?
Uh, to let me get down...
3. Dave, what would you like in your stocking this year?
A carb free, fat free and calorie free pizza.
4. Dave, have you ever called in and used one of those escort services?
Well, yes. Years ago. I don't recommend it.
5. While recording TPC stuff, how is the songwriting process going? I know that Night1 is Steve's baby, but during these sessions, do you suggest lyrics or does Chaney suggest riffs? Lyrics or music first? Just looking for a general description as to the input.
Well, we all write music, N1 verse and chorus were my musical input, bridge and break was Steve I and lyrics are always Steve I. But each song comes along differently. Some Steve wrote, others are collaborative and some just happen. There is no "one" way to go...
6. Dave, I saw a pic of you and younger brother on motorcycle..do you still ride, and if you do, has Carmen ever taken a ride with you?
I have not ridden in a while. Carmen isn't a fan of me on the streets with four wheels, let alone two. I guess I have a "unique" way of driving. Does "unique" mean bad? Depends on who you ask.
7. Were there record suits at the TPC show at the Key Club and if so, has anything materialized into a signing/deal as of yet, or, are there discussions on the table? Have your guys at Capitol displayed interest in TPC?
No, nothing to speak of yet. We aren't really looking because I have a Capitol fulfillment to honor, not to mention that I just like it there. If Capitol doesn't want us, then we are going to go home grown style and just print stuff up ourselves.
8. Also, currently what is inspiring you to become a better musician ?
Continually taking advantage of playing with as many different walks of musical life as possible. As broad of a spectrum as I can cover, from Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols to Usher and everything in-between. The blending of talents can only make one's interpretation expand.
9. Why is it okay to get "all jacked up" on coffee but not other stimulants (meth, riddlin, etc.) They all have a similar effect, so why is one okay and another not okay?
Well, I guess I just know that I am not in danger of overdosing on coffee and meeting the reaper...
10. Who picked the song "by your side", and did they really play Mazzy Star 'Fade into You" while you guys were saying your vows.
Carmen did. I don't recall the Mazzy Song, but I do love it.

Post Show
Just got in from CFR and I'm all jacked up on coffee. Billy and I did two shows, the live feed and the pre-taped "live" Christmas special. A lot of coffee, a lot of fun. The highlight of tonight's show was when we called Janice Dickinson from America's Next Top Model. She was a blast to have on, could become a regular. Later after the show we did our Christmas Special which is going to be really great. We introduced a new segment called, "Girls From The Back Of The Weekly". (A free newspaper in L.A.) Be sure to tune in for that. It's all about MSNBC true crime for me for the rest of the night. Type to you tomorrow...

...
Nice to be home. I never met Darrell, but I will alwys remain dazzled by his playing. I cannot believe how sad the whole shooting incident is. Music is important, you know it means the world to me. But in the same breath, it is just music. So many bands break up, do new stuff, move on, sometimes get back together for a while and then keep moving, reunite, I mean, it just happens. Marriages end in divorce sometimes, boyfriends and girlfriends separate, business partners go separate ways. I was going to try to list all the bands I could think of that have parted over the years, but come on, that would take forever. As soon as I typed, The Beatles, I thought, "Maybe I don't even have to go any further." Darrell was just playing music. I have read that his death was due to the opinions of a disgruntled Pantera fan. If there is any truth to that, it is just so sickening and pathetic and full of selfish hate on the part of the shooter. So full of self importance and grandeur. As a music fan, it makes me sad. As a fellow artist it makes me sad. I mean, who did this guy think he was rocking out to when he listened to Pantera? Was he really just a part-time supporter of Darrell? Could he find the distinction? What a fucked up world it must be to live in where one thinks that everything revolves around him and is about him and for or against him. So, Darrell got shot cause he wanted to make music. Because he was happy creating and playing. I am utterly saddened and disgusted. A devastating day for music and for those of us who consider ourselves fans, myself included, because, clearly, on some level, this guy thought we all had this in common. We consider ourselves fans of music.
"And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation---some fact of my life---unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God's world by mistake..."
Music, our song, our community is our voice. It is by the people for the people, of the people. It is progression, forward movement. The hate is backwards decay into death. We owe it to ourselves to be the representatives of who we really are. The healers. We owe it to the world, because clearly, the world needs to be shown sometimes.

R.I.P. Dimebag
My thoughts and prayers are with Darrell's spirit and his family. His music will live forever. He was an amazing talent and one of my favorite new school guitarists. This community will surely miss him. Peace, brother. Thank you for all the music!

December, Oh yeah...
(A TPC ornament sent in by Michael Malediction. Happy Holidays!)
1. What do you remember when you see pictures like this one? Do you miss those times?
I don't miss those times, but I sure am glad I had those times.
2. Do you still have the same guitar tech as you did in the instructional video you made with the mulleted dude?
No, that is Dave Lee, he works for Frusciante now.
3. Dave, now don't be embarrassed to answer this but, well, do you straighten your hair?
Once in a while I like to break out the flat iron.
4. Dave do you think MTV will be coming out with til death do us part on dvd?~
They were supposed to, but it got pushed back because certain stores wouldn't carry it because of the title, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Isn't that a famous wedding phrase? Whatever...
5. Dave, you often mention that you have no rules on Sundays regarding eating... so, on Sundays, do you just eat more carbs or do you actually eat sugar and stuff?
As Bam would say, "Whatever the f!@K I want."
6. Are you a Christian?...or what is your belief?
I would say that I have devised a spiritual understanding of my own based on a number of philosophies. Life force, universal, the cosmos, science and just kind of living accordingly.
7. DAVE!!!! Hey, did you get my Christmas Card?
Yes, I did Jez, thank you so much!
8. Dave, Ever jam w/ Buckethead and what do you think of his playing?
Never jammed with him but his playing is just awesome!
9. Are you superstitious?
No, there is plenty of real and actual stuff to be concerned about, so I spare myself of the concerns of mirrors, black cats, umbrellas and ladders. (Though Riss always makes me knock on wood for some reason.)
10. Dave-are you still using any of your other guitars like the blue or black prs's anymore?
Not as of late, with the exception of Steve I's natural Strat, I try to stay within a white guitar only realm. I just like the way they "pop" under lights.
Stay Gold, Ponyboy...

The Sunday 10
(FreAk's car keeping the dream alive in France!)
1. Do you get a Christmas tree?
Ah, hell yeah we do!
2. Do you and your Dad get along well?
Yes, we do. Better than ever.
3. Dave, if you could travel back in time...what year would it be and what would you do?
To be honest, I'm kind of feeling the present so I doubt I would even want to travel to any other time. Well, maybe back to when Rene Russo was single and 17.
4. Do you get your guitars refinished now again?
No, but I have 4 identical PRS whites, and Phil, my tech keeps them all shiny and new...
5. Do you feel like there are certain almost routine times that you get depressed about your mom?
No, not anymore. It took some time to get through it all, but I really believe she is in a better place.
6. Is it just my lame computer or is anyone else having problems accessing Indie 103.1 Radio online?
It was the station's streaming service that was down. Sorry people!
7. Where did you find, or who made your suit that you wore for your wedding day?
Gucci.
8. I think Dono mentioned that you archive the shows on here. Where might I find it?
I think he was mistaken, but I am going to look into having the station rip MP3's of some shows to post.
9. What is your opinion of Mark Mcgrath with him doing that Extra shows these days. Many of his old fans cannot believe what this old hard-core singer is now doing reporting pop culture. I find it a bit odd that he is doing that now when I picture the old "lemonade & brownies" Mcgrath. Whats your take?
I see nothing wrong with a guy doing other stuff. What is he supposed to do, just go away? He's good at it and he is an entertainer, so whatever. So many people get so bent when an artist does anything other than his art. Believe me, I know. The guy is just working and staying out there. It's all good.
10. How did it feel when you got your first big pay check from being a musician?
Well, it definitely didn't suck.

CFR Saturday
When my dad saw pictures from the TPC show, he said, "Look, you are wearing your old druggie hat! I haven't seen that in a while." He is so funny. I replied, with a laugh, "Nah, I lost that thing years ago. This is a brand new druggie hat! But I can only abuse caffeine and nicotine in this one. It's the new, old school."
Camp Freddy last night! What a show. I hope to get some images, but the show was once again, private, so I don't know if cameras were allowed. Here is the line up:
1. Brass in Pocket/Macy Grey
2. Metro/Terri Nunn
3. Man in the Box/Jerry Cantrell, Terri Nunn
4. Bang A Gong/Michael Des Barres
5. Zepp's Rock and Roll/Michael Des Barres
6. Feel Like Making Love/Michael Des Barres, Terri Nunn, Jerry Cantrell
7. Rain/Leif Garret, Billy Duffy
8. Pretty Vacant/Mark McGrath, Steve Jones
9. My Sharona/Doug Figer
10. Jailbreak/Cantrell, Duffy
11. Ziggy Stardust/Camp Freddy
12. Ballroom Blitz/Camp Freddy
13. Should I Stay/Billy Duffy
14. Search and Destroy/Everyone!
I know we did more, but I can't remember right now. We will be talking about it I am sure on Camp Freddy Radio tonight. We will also be joined in the studio by some special guests. Should be a great show! The usual nonsense. Once again I would like to thank everyone who came out to support TPC on Thursday. We had such a great time. It's been a plentiful couple of days. I am looking forward to MSNBC Investigates tonight and a Sunday of bed rest, carbs, movies and naps.
Love,
Dave

Camp Freddy Friday
The show last night was so much fun! Thank you all who came out, it was so great to see everyone at the show and hanging out at the Rainbow after. Such a little vibe, community and special family. It all reminds me of a time when music and bands were really for the people and not the public, if that makes any sense. You know, when something new is kind of your own. We are still finding our way and we are having a blast doing so. I was out way too late for me. Camp Freddy is playing tonight and I am so tired, but I am still running on adrenaline. We GOTTA book more shows soon. The above picture is what our set list was supposed to be, but Isaacs forgot it at home. (Ours wasn't blurred, however.) He ended up writing them out himself moments before the gig. What a trooper. Thanx to everyone who has posted pics and to FreAk for the awesome cover. I think it is our first ever. I would love to stay and type, but I have to get down to soundcheck for Camp Freddy with my bandmate Billy Morrison from Doheny, who by the way, killed it last night. He put together an awesome night along with Indie 103.1. If it wasn't for Terri Nunn, I would blow off soundcheck, but she is so damn adorable that I can't let a moment go by without taking advantage of her presence. (My wife gets it, BTW, it's all good.) Have a "delicious" day, as Simara would say, and I will meet some of you as we trudge the road of happy destiny. May God bless you and keep you until then.

EVH Style
This is the EVH guitar I used for a couple of shows a few years back. I just had to.
1. Anna Sui was mentioned a few times in this thread......Do you still keep in touch with her? Is she still designing for you? Or were the leather lace-up pants you wore in her show, not hers.
I actually ran into her In New York a few months back. Those pants were hers, but she let me keep them. She rules!
2. DAVE - Billy m went over his preparation for 2mrw's show on doheny site, what are the activities you undergo leading upto to a show such as thursdays?
We rehearse of course, but that's about it. Reminds me of an old phrase that I have later originated. "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail." As for tomorrow's show, we just show up and bring it.
3. How did you beat this horrible dark monster?
In all honesty and sincerity, I let God into my life. Let Him run the show for a while. Easier than it sounds, in fact, running things on my own was obviously not working and when I turned it over, it got WAY easier.
4. Dave-does TPC have a record deal, with who and when can we expect the album to be released.
That is a tough one to answer. I am tied to Capitol but the band isn't. We would love to stay there but we really haven't had the "meeting" about it yet. If they want us, great! If not, we will do this on our own.
5. Dave what you think about Zakk Wylde??
Zakk is an unreal guitar player. I once sat in on an Ozzy rehearsal. That guy plays so loud. Even when he stops to tune, he was at full blast.
6. Where did you find your stylist? IS there some sort of company that has all the good stylists on a list, and then you celebs can pick and choose?
No, I hired her based on word of mouth. She is more like a member of our extended family than anything. A friend who likes to shop. I hate shopping.
7. Think I remember reading that OHM was recorded in Hawaii...where were you guys for that one?
The Big Island of Hawaii, Kona coast.
8. Dave, I know you've said you're not into sports but we're you ever into surfing?
No, I'm not much of a surfer. I have been, but I really never took to it.
9. Was Perkins ever an addict? Or Eric Avery?
Perk never had a problem and Avery hasn't touched the stuff in something like 15 years.
10. I really like the cross you have tatted on your forarm and i was wondering if you would mind if i copied your design...
Be my guest, man.
See some of you up in da club, tomorrow...
