Happy New Year
Well, that wasn't so bad. I got it all done in about three hours. I dropped a bundle, but whatever, it is the giving time of year. Carmen and I actually had a really good time together shopping away. By the way, tonight, Billy and I are taping the CFR show for New Year's from 6-8pm L.A. time. It won't be live so we would love it if you guys used the phones and called in. The number is 1-877-4LA-1031. Pretend like it is New Year's Eve if we get you on the line, because we are going to try to play it off as if we are actually live on the 31st. We will be asking about resolutions, what your plans for the evening are and all that. Basically, a hoax. I'm sure we will get busted, but try to play along if you call in.

Sounds like I'm not the only one going nuts over last minute Christmas shopping!
I'll probably be around tonite, so I'll try and call in. Should be fun acting like I'm having a New Year's party! :)
Be well everyone!

Am I first?! THAT would be a first.
Glad to hear the shopping excursion went well!
I'm actually heading off to my parents' house... my mom and I are going to bake some cookies today. Not so great for the diet, but hey... Christmas is only once a year. Should be fun.
If I'm done before the taping, I'll try to call in. If not, please know that at least my heart is in the right place.
Have a great day, everyone!
Love,

hey dave... i was shopping around for guitars, and i was looking at Hamer. i have been playing for years but have never tried one. what do you think of them? by the way i love yamaha acoustics, i used to have one and it played beautifully, and stayed in tune like a champ but it took a beating over the years. i hate to plug, but if you get a chance check out an mp3 of mine @ www.innervenus.org. click on musek, and Bottomfeeder is my band. i do all guitar work, maybe you would dig it i don't know. take care

Ahhhhhhh If I down enough champagne this evening it's on fo sho papi!!

Dave,
Shall we come up with a hoax theme, something a little Dick Clarkish amongst the 6767 community. Whoever from 6767 gets through comes up with an outlandish exotic locale that they are calling from. You know so Dave and Billy can go to the dropping of the ball Sri Lanka, Weather Station in Anartica, Transylvania,Cayman Islands, Waterloo,Iowa, Nuclear Silo at Yucca Mountain, etc...
What does everyone think? Should we go for it? It'll be a secret 6767 vibe.
Cheers,
Mike C.

Hey Dave
this probably isn't the right place for this but what the hell. I just finished reading your book, which was great reading and a huge eye opener into the so called glamourous rock n roll lifestyle.
I just wanted to wish you and Carmen a great xmas and a new year filled with joy and happiness.
And if your bored I'd love it if you went on over to my site and took a listen to some of the tracks i've done.

You know, I was going to hold off on mentioning this. But I was at the 2nd Dragonfly show. I'm standing there next to Chazbo and we are both commenting on Steve's voice. I said, "Technically the guy is great." Chazbo replies," He doesn't have a signature voice with a lot of character though."
"True" I said. "He sort of sounds like someone though. I just can't place it."
Isaacs warbled out some more high notes.
"I got it. HOLY SHIT!!!! He sounds like the drummer from Triumph."
Chazbo laughs and we chant in unison, "Gil Moore!!!"
Not a bad thing. Not sure if it's a good thing either. I'll keep it under my lid. Heck kids, I'm not bagging on Stevie. He's likeable. I enjoy his contribution.
But, ah...Gil Moore!!!!!!!!
So, Dave my question.... will there ever be a live cover of Allied Forces or Rock N Roll Machine to look forward too?? Sorry man, I had to ask.
Have a laugh you punters and for the love of God wipe that drool off your chins huh???

Dave-
A New Years Eve show on on Dec 22nd! Ingenious! There is no way I could call in, I would be laughing my ass off way too hard. I would have to have people screaming and yelling in the background, pretending people are partying way out of control like "Hey Man who stole the cheese whiz!, "we need another keg hurry up God-damit the ball is gonna drop", music pumping in the background & "who threw the toilet out the window?!?! LMAO!!!!!
Mike C. your on to something....................... Maybe, I could call in and say that I am partying at the Playboy Mansion- LMAO!!!!!!! This is just way too funny!!!!!

I had a dream of Dave last night. I was in a short silk lingerie slip. At the bottom of my staircase he stood, tanned with glistening skin.
As I slowly made my way down, I could feel my heart beating quicker and breath growing deeper.
As I approached this masculine figure before me, he reached out and placed his hands around my tiny waist. He slid down the straps of my slip to expose my heaving breasts. As his hands grasped the back of my head, entangled in my long flaxen hair, he pulled me towards him. My full lips met his with such passion and longing. I ran my nails down the length of his chest and unbuttoned the first of his shiny black, snug fitted pants.............(stay tuned)

Hi all!
Heather, how many times are you going to post that?
Dave, I might just have to try and call from here in the East. Isn't it great to get the shopping done?
Now to share with all the poem created by Tex, Jilla and myself:
A Very Special Santa
By Us
When he is clothed
He likes wearing black
Not a red suit
Or bundle or sack
His beard is not snowy white
But dark and flowing
And he has the deep brown eyes
Of a friend all knowing
He’s so loved by us his Family
He strums straight to his work
Offering peace, love and guidance
Not judging us by his word
His present to us
Is of himself
No gadgets or gimmick
No reindeer or elf
He reads and he listens
There are questions we post
And when he answers
We like that the most
He’s brave and provides
Us with inspiration
As an appreciative recipient
Of his own salvation
And as a musician he shares
Tips and tricks
Even the notes
For his most famous licks
That is what we like
To receive
And the pictures as well
I think we'd agree
Our Sexy Santa in black
Need not say "Ho Ho"
For his words and his music
Makes him our Dave Navarro
Merry Christmas everyone! Got an early present today - my boy got good news from Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. That means that this mother got good news too!
always,
me

Posted by: Lyn at December 22, 2004 01:28 PM
Lyn,
Right! I just thought the name "Lahore" or as I refer to it "La Hore" was amusing. Much the same way "Avalick" could be stated as " Av A Lick" It just sounded better than the Nuclear Silo at Yucca Mountain idea I generated earlier. Besides, from the dreams you and Heather have been having, it seem to fit today's posts.
Cheers,

Lyn-Good point on the time zone thing, maybe pick a place on the East Coast becuase its three hours ahead of the CFR show. Anywhere from Flordia, the Caribbean Islands, up to the east coast of Canada and say that your getting ready for the ball to drop.

Okay Gang! I got it! For geographical correctness, this is the breakdown.
During the taping, watch the time when you call and be thinking L.A. time. It will be Midnight at these locations during these L.A. hours:
6:00 PM
Rio De Janiero
Sao Paulo
Fernando de Norohna
7:00 PM
Suriname
Paraguay
St. George, Grenada
Santiago, Chile
Buenos Aires, Argentina
8:00 PM
Antigua
Barbados
Uruguay
Venezuela
Havana, Cuba
You could also give Pre-Drop reports from anywhere in North America.
For Kyle, Freak, and Count Manley, you could give Post-Drop info..

Dude, I'm in ATLANTA and I've been waiting for my ball to drop for a loooonng time. I know-we can have a REDNECK NEW YEAR! Instead of a ball, it can be a pig, floating down a flag pole mounted to a trailer, with sparklers sticking out of his mouth, right into a barbecue pit, and instead of Auld Lang Syne, we can have the countdown song be "Whipping Post" by the Allman Brothers, and it'll take like 20 minutes for the pig to drop. Eh, maybe not.

Hey everyone!
I've been working like a maniac at a Harrods for 2 weeks now (Harrods is the biggest department- store in the UK or something like that), and as you can imagine- I am exhausted!!!
So, I have tomorrow off and I have to do all my xmas- shopping. I think I know what to get all my friends & relatives but I'm kinda stuck on what to get my dad. Dave, what are you getting for your father? I have a couple of things in mind, hope none of them are sold out tomorrow.. Anyway, take care everyone!
Cheers from London!

Hi Dave,
That shopping experience sounded so hilarious! lol
I'm not crazy about shopping either....though I don't 'hate' it. The waiting on the loooong lines, the pushing crowds really get to me. Not to mention all the pick pockets in full force out here in NYC.
Notice how the cashiers during the Holidays are usually the slowest you've ever encountered....probably because they throw those 'new to retail' kids right out into the selling floor on their first week working at a department store!
That happened to me when I worked part time at Bloomingdale's while at college. I was working in Bloomingdale's NYC office, processing Christmas orders (to think, I had celebrities addresses, I never copied one of them! lol), my boss asked if I would please help on the first floor.
Having never taken their cashier training course, I had no clue what I was doing...at the time Bloomingdales had about 8 of their OWN store credit cards....the area supervisor noticed I was having a meltdown, she sent me back upstairs to my regular job within an hour! looool
God Bless ALL the people in retail, I could never do that job! It takes TONS of patience, especially during Christmas time!
Seems everything in life is about waiting anyway, it just gets SUPER amplified around the Holidays! UGH!
My advice to people who really hate to shop...besides shopping online or getting someone else to do it for you....simply try to shop during the year, especially when you are out shopping for yourself & you see items you know the special people in your life will love. That's how I get most of my gifts.
Christmas will always fall on December 25th without fail...just be prepared. My credo is, you have a YEAR to prepare. ;)
Dave, I know you hate clutter, but I'm sure you can store some items somewhere for a few months. Because of my frugal nature, that's another reason I shop throughout the year for Christmas/Birthday gifts. From working at a buying office years ago, I got to know the real prices of those 'high end' items! lol I try not to pay retail prices .....ever.
Simply shop for the people you KNOW you'll be needing a gift for.....Carmen, your immediate family & close friends. It works for me.
The holidays are stressful enough as it is, why add to it with last minute shopping?
I always wonder WHY so many people ALWAYS wait to the last few days to shop?? It can't always be a money reason because stuff is on sale all year round, especially if you aren't interested in getting a season related gift.
Perhaps they actually LOVE the 'PANIC' element of it all?? Much in the same way people do their tax forms on the due date. lol Hmmmmm, something to ponder.
Happy Holidays,
itanja

Hey Dave;
I managed to get through to the CFR taping; sorry I made an ass of myself with the compliments (and sorry I wasn't the "hot chick" you guys were expecting to call), but it honestly was a pleasure to actaully talk to you. I've admired your musicianship for many years, and your playing has been a tremendous influence on my own guitar playing. So anyway, it was cool to talk to you.
Any chance we will see a TPC show up here in the Sacramento sometime soon? And do you still use Bogner amps? I bought an Ecstacy a while back, and it is probably the best amp I've owned (although I wish I could get another silver jubilee).
Take care.

Thank you, Maria, Dave, Billy...and especially Toby from the Roxy, who was such the gentleman to the lady having a breakdown at the Rainbow...he got me a fresh napkin from the kitchen to dry my eyes, and bought me a drink to calm my nerves...stupid boys!!!
Nothing like bursting into tears in public, downing a few drinks, then calling Dave to wish him Happy New Year...sorry, Dave, my New Year's Resolution is not to be so annoying...think I can do it?

Hey Dave & family,
Well, I tried call into CFR, but I didn't get a chance to call until the last 15 minutes or so of the taping. (10:45 EST, which would be 7:45 out in Cali). Unfortunately, there was no answer.
I guess it wasn't meant to be this time. I was trying to call on my cell as I was driving home... trying to conjure up some elaborate New Year's Eve story, while trying to explain why there was such silence in the background. But the truth is, talking to you guys on the air for the first time would've been so exciting to begin with, that I would've probably gotten flustered and screwed up the story.
On a good note, I spent some quality time baking cookies with my mother today. We had a blast. I don't know about you guys, but I'm all about eating the raw dough. I just can't resist it! LOL
Good night!
Cheers/love,

Hey Dave and the fam! It's about 1:30 a.m. over here in what we call "Indiana" so I am guessing its a little late to call into CFR... bummer. Anyway, I'm glad the shopping experience went over nicely yesterday for you and Carmen. I am not a big fan of shopping either, but I did some today with the girlfriend and some other buddies and it was actually a good time. (Nothing compares to the numerous escalator rides and going into Victoria's Secret with a couple of fine females... whaddaya say?)
quick questions.... that I asked the other day, and I probably look like a douche by asking again. Oh well.
1. How often do you write riffs/songs from scratch on acoustic?
2. What kind of alternate tunings do you use?
Have a good one ya'll---> Trent O.
Posted by: Trent O. at December 22, 2004 10:53 PM
Hi Lisa,
I didn't really talk to the buyers at Bloomingdale's, I was stuck up in an office. I was only there part time processing orders.
I later went on to work for a NYC buying office as a graphic designer/studio manager, perhaps she worked there? But I don't remember a Nicola from there. At the time there were only three buying offices in NYC.
Did she ever work at a buying office? I had no contact with buyers when I later worked as a display artist as Macy's.
Does she still live in NY? Perhaps we attended concerts at the same time, I used to 'live' at The Ritz, Peppermint Lounge & Danceteria (to name a few clubs which featured live bands). I also went to many shows at The Pier, such as those Adam Ant gigs we talked about here.
It's a small world, so you never know!
Happy Holidays,

Well, I've been coming by 6767 Land for a while now. I've always wanted to comment, but just hadn't. Though, today I just finished reading "Don't Try This At Home." I finished it relatively quick. For the simple fact that I was "lost" in it and couldn't put it down. I was absolutely enthralled. The photo booth project was thee most unique project/documentary of someone's life I've yet to encounter. It kinda drove me crazy not knowing what photos went to what names, but I managed to keep sane. I got it as a Christmas gift for someone special, he's gonna love me for it! Thank you so much for allowing "us" into your life as you did/have. PS I think Carmen is the most gorgeous lady on the face of this planet. Good Lord those eyes!!

Spanq~ I might be wrong about this, but seeing Triumph when I was in high school, I believe Rik Emmett did the vocal duties. And he played guitar, not drums. And personally, I get a 70s vibe from Steve's voice (in a good way) but I get no 'Triumph' vibe at all.
Mortisha~ Installe BfME but haven't played it yet. One of the guys at the office got it, and we spent an hour doing 'research' (the joys of making videogames for a living) It is flat out unbelievable. Thought I'd take a night off from working on the book, and play 'just an hour' of Half Life 2. Damn, damn, damn. 4 hours later, I finally pry myself awy from the comp. THAT thing is friggin glorious.
Dave ~ damn damn damn part duex. Wish I had seen this blog entry prior to when you were recording. Would have LOVED to call in and been 'wasted'. crap. Next time you pre-record, I'll be sure to do so. Sounds like Lyn picked up some of the slack in the 'character' dept.
In the shopping/gifts category: finally got my wife's Xmas present which I'm really proud of myself about because i don't think she has the slightest idea and it should be a jaw dropper of a surprise. :) And my mom, who came in on Monday to spend the holidays with us (By the way Dave and Steve she LOVES the TPC stuff. My mom rocks.) and informs me that for my Birthday, she's buying me an acoustic guitar, since I can't really plug in the tele most of the time at home! yea! So I get to head to guitar center tuesday after XMas. So Dave, I add to the grow fnumber of folks who query, give me a few steel-string acoustics you like and why.
Love to you all, getting back to work and tomorrow, headed to the mountains... where it is supposed to SNOW for XMas. Well, and truly, that will ROCK.

Hey Dave and DN fam,
I know that all of you are dying to find out what I bought my secret santa...
I got her 2 bottles of wine, lotion from Bath and Body Works and a Nora Roberts book. Total price tag $60.
The wine I got her is Australian because I found out that she likes wine from that region. The lotion was something that I thought she might like. I saw that she was reading a Nora Roberts book and I casually asked her about what Roberts' book hasn't she read.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
Dave, ¿How was the show last night? Sorry that I didn't call in.
Later,
Mike from NYC

Lordy Lordy, look who's 40! Mr. Eddie Vedder, that's who. A big Happy Bday to the original leader of the Mookie Blaylock band.
And yes, Harry Shearer, personally responsible for the characters of Derek Smalls (This is Spinal Tap), Mark Shubb (A Mighty Wind), Ned Flanders, Seymour Skinner, Mr. Burns (Simpsons) is 61 today! Harry has been an actor, writer, lyricist, composer, director, producer, and worked as a crew member and has been acting for over 50 years! One my personal favorite funny guys!

Itanja~Lmao! I lived at The Ritz myself!!! Also, a few visits to Danceteria, and The Peppermint Lounge!. And we've placed ourselves at the same Adam and the Ants concert on the Pier! I spent a lot of time at Macy's mostly buying clothes!!!! :D
Was it the 5th floor that had the trendy stuff then? Okay, well I know it was one of the floors above ground. :P
My sister and I were very close then, and did a lot of that stuff together. People thought we were twins.
I'd be surprised if we haven't bumped into each other!
My family, mother's side, has been very involved in the fashion industry for generations. There's got to be a link up somewhere with us. It's nice though to read your posts Itanja, New York City happenings. I loved my times there.
My Dad still lives in NYC.
Love Lisa xxxx

Hi Lyn,
Harry Shearer is hysterical! Wasn't he also in the original cast of "Saturday Night Live"?
If he wasn't a regular cast member, I do recall seeing him listed as a writer and making many appearances. I know he had something to do with the show, along with Christopher Guest. His spoof of fashion maven 'Mr. Blackwell' was classic!
take care,
itanja
PS....where are my flannel PJs? They never arrived, it's been freezing here in NYC! ;)

Can someone help me with a word. What's that cardboard thing that you put under a glass or a cup? It's so frustrating this whole being a foreigner thing! I mean, the word is whirling right there on my tongue but I just can't spit it out.
