CFR Saturday

Davenavarro17When my dad saw pictures from the TPC show, he said, "Look, you are wearing your old druggie hat! I haven't seen that in a while." He is so funny. I replied, with a laugh, "Nah, I lost that thing years ago. This is a brand new druggie hat! But I can only abuse caffeine and nicotine in this one. It's the new, old school."

Camp Freddy last night! What a show. I hope to get some images, but the show was once again, private, so I don't know if cameras were allowed. Here is the line up:

1. Brass in Pocket/Macy Grey
2. Metro/Terri Nunn
3. Man in the Box/Jerry Cantrell, Terri Nunn
4. Bang A Gong/Michael Des Barres
5. Zepp's Rock and Roll/Michael Des Barres
6. Feel Like Making Love/Michael Des Barres, Terri Nunn, Jerry Cantrell
7. Rain/Leif Garret, Billy Duffy
8. Pretty Vacant/Mark McGrath, Steve Jones
9. My Sharona/Doug Figer
10. Jailbreak/Cantrell, Duffy
11. Ziggy Stardust/Camp Freddy
12. Ballroom Blitz/Camp Freddy
13. Should I Stay/Billy Duffy
14. Search and Destroy/Everyone!

I know we did more, but I can't remember right now. We will be talking about it I am sure on Camp Freddy Radio tonight. We will also be joined in the studio by some special guests. Should be a great show! The usual nonsense. Once again I would like to thank everyone who came out to support TPC on Thursday. We had such a great time. It's been a plentiful couple of days. I am looking forward to MSNBC Investigates tonight and a Sunday of bed rest, carbs, movies and naps.

Love,

Dave

is it true that Jane's Addiction will be playing a New Years Eve show at the Wiltern Theatre?

Posted by: chris at December 4, 2004 11:12 AM

Oh...Just a note for music lovers...
Thelonious Monster will be at Spaceland every Monday in December. FREE. Lots of special guests are slated, which means, probably, Angelo Moore, Flea and John F., etc. If you've never seen them, you really should do yourself a favor. Bob Forrest in such a great guy and killer front man. Plus, they just flat out rock!

Steve.

Your comments about community in the TPC wrap-up post were really touching. As one of those on the fringe, who check in daily but post rarely, I'm always amazed at your willingness to share your thoughts and create true sense of community. Isn't that what this Internet thing was supposed to become when we stole it from the Defense Department?

Now, we need to see TPC on the East Cost.

Hey Dave,

I saw the show at the Key Club Thursday night and had a blast! After seeing you for years with Janes in large venues it was so cool to see you in a club! Must of felt like the old days. Love the new material! When can we expect the next LA Camp Freddy show?

Dave~ tis so sweet you showed your Dad pictures of your show. :)

Do you and your Dad get along well?

Posted by: ylais at December 4, 2004 11:56 AM

Hey everyone!

I haven't been here in days and been going through 6767 withdrawal. This thing is addictive! I've been without an internet connection for a few days, and on top of it, the server for my website crashed so any e-mail I may have gotten or have gotten is totally lost now. On the upside, my semester is over in two weeks, my internet is back (with email!), breakfast was good, and I'm here!

Freak, the She Won't Last cover is the bomb. What equipment/software do you use to record? The guitar sound is really excellent.

Itanja, how did the rest of the CF photos from Irving Plaza come out? Send me copies whenever you get the chance.

Dave, if you could travel back in time...what year would it be and what would you do?

Silly question, I know. But I'm in a silly mood and rather curious. :P

Haven't had a chance to read through all the posts I missed, but seems like everyone here is doing well. Glad to be back! Have a great Saturday everyone!

:)

My Sharona... oh, that's a fucking class song. I didn't realise it was from 1979 until the other day though. 1979! wow! I thought it was from the 90s or something...

that's my $0.02 for the night (:

funny little story from thursday...

while we were waiting in line to get in, someone walked by and asked one of the bouncers who was playing and he said "jane's addiction". i laughed and then proceeded to educate him.

hey RP, i'd love to stay up all night, but i've got nothing to do, so i'd be boored to death..and i'm a bit tired because i went to party last night, danced till the sun rised and a new day began..
but i want to hear CFR..so i'm gonna go with the alarmclock-idea

sean, nice to see you back, sounds like things are going good for you too! and you're right, this thing is addictive, i noticed that too when i had to studie hard for my exams a little while ago! haha

Posted by: Emma at December 4, 2004 01:30 PM

unless there's a chat going on tonight somewhere? then i have a reason to stay up until CFR
can anybody tell me if there will be on a website a chat with you 6767 peeps?

Hi all,

Too funny. I was thinking the same thing about Dave's "druggie hat" as I looked at the pix. Of course, I'm glad that's no longer the case.

Chris - I don't know where you heard about JA playing a show on New Year's Eve, but double-check to see if they're referring to THIS year. I vaguely recall seeing on one of the JA sites that there was the possiblity of a show at the Wiltern a few YEARS ago.

Speaking of New Year's, though, I have good news just in case CF or TPC comes to NY. By some form of divine intervention, our previous plans fell through! Yeah. So in the unlikely event that Dave & co. come to NY this year, I'm so there. :)

Cheers,
-Denise

Do you get your guitars refinished now again?
They always look so crispy clean..

Posted by: b at December 4, 2004 01:48 PM

Hi Dave,

I was going to call your animal print hat....'The Infamous Unicorn Hat'...but decided not to bring that up again~!! My eagle eyes DID catch that this hat is a bit smaller.

Your dad sounds very cool, good sense of humour!

Enjoy your 'weekend carbs', I just finished eating my dinner...a pizza bagel concoction. I made it myself, you should try one of those. I use one 7 grain/onion bagel, add mozzarella & marinara sauce, you can add veggies too.

Question: Did you keep all the issues of BIKINI mag that your column appeared in?
Any chance of doing movie reviews again? How about here? That BIKINI column was pretty funny Dave!

take care,
itanja

Has anyone been recording the camp freddy shows into mp3?

i would like to hear them if someone can provide a link.

Posted by: Six7Six7 at December 4, 2004 02:35 PM

Dave,

Having lost my mom when I was 5, I kind of have a rough time around the holidays. I don't know if it's because I'm sad that she can't enjoy them or what, but I never fail to get depressed around this time of year. Do you feel like there are certain almost routine times that you get depressed about your mom?

Sorry to be such a downer but I was just curious, seems how we have this in common? Anyone else care to comment?
Krista

Posted by: Krista at December 4, 2004 02:53 PM

Krista~I'm sorry to hear about your mum. Losing her at such an early age must've been incredibly hard on you.

take care.

~Noonie Chantelle~

Posted by: Chantelle at December 4, 2004 02:59 PM

Krista,
I can't say I know exactly how you feel because I can still talk to my mom, but I just moved about 12 hours from her and the rest of my family. With Christmas getting closer and closer I've been getting more and more depressed knowing there's a chance that just like Thankgiving I might not see them and spend it alone. My Mother-in-Law is offering to pay for a plain ticket to get us out to see that side of the family, but it's just not the same. I'm affraid it will make things worse for me knowing that just another 2 hours further and I can be with them. Unfortunitly the little time I have off from work won't allow for that extra drive. As it is now we will litteraly be flying in and flying right back out to make it back to work on time. I would give anything to see them. And that is my Christmas wish!

I'm finally done uploading most of the pictures. I took me hours. Anyhow, have a good weekend. I'll fix the rest Monday.

Posted by: Wendybird at December 4, 2004 05:44 PM

Yes, I'm ALSO having the same problem accessing the radio station online, I even tried a different browser, NO luck.

Does anyone have their toll free number? Perhaps we can call the guys & tell them it's not going out through the Internet!

Posted by: itanja at December 4, 2004 05:46 PM

By the way the reason there is more Dave pictures than anything is because it was much easier taking pictures of him. I had to delete a shit load of the rest of them. They were way too grainy. Anyhow, once I get my super duper camera, this won’t be a problem. Until then, I’ll have to stand in a different spot each gig. Thanks Annie for giving me your spot in the front. You rock!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Yes - we're not all alone!!!!

I finally have control of the computer to listen to CFR and it's down! Any LA ppl can you call and let them know we online ppl are dying to listen but the server is down. PLEASE!!!!

Emma - liquidcompass.net who does the stream seems to be unable deal with it. It could be a 101.3 thing with ther server but it's hard to tell. It just sucks though!!! i sooo wanted to listed and finally could!

i think i'm going back to bed...hope the online radio works again later, so everybody out there can still listen
...dammit, better next time
sweet dreams everybody

GREAT shots Wendy...I am SPEECHLESS!

I don't have my digital yet....but I'm wondering....didn't you need more than a few 'memory cards' to be able to take all those photos?

Does this camera have a zoom? You seem to have both wide angle & close up shots.

Any problems with security as far as shooting the show? Very cool!

Btw, who is that older woman with the guy? They both kind of resemble Steve, relatives of his?

Posted by: itanja at December 4, 2004 06:20 PM

(my fourth post in 15 minutes)
yeah elise, i finally can listen too, and it sucks that liquidcompass.net can't deal with it! it sucks...!

Posted by: Emma at December 4, 2004 06:20 PM

aww man, what a bummer! no CFR! :0(
I don't think there's anything the radio station can do about it, I think it's with the live stream host. I tried to get it on my head phones but couldn't and I don't have my little radio, it's at work... or a car I could go in and listen.

Wendy- thanks for the pics! I must be the most unphotogenic person out there.. next time just take pics of Abby, she always comes out great! ;)

Thanks for the number Rain.

I called & just spoke to Dave, he said it's a "streaming problem". Changing browsers won't help either.

He spoke to someone there at the studio....he said to keep "refreshing" it.

At least we know what's going on.

Posted by: itanja at December 4, 2004 06:33 PM

ahhhhhhh this sucks, I can't access either "_ Atleast I know I'm not the only one, I keep refreshing with no luck.

Hey Dave! Thanks for talking to me on CFR! That was really fun. I think Dono mentioned that you archive the shows on here. Where might I find it? I cannot possibly miss hearing myself talk to you on the radio...especially since I live in Philly and had to miss hearing the webcast...
Thanks a lot!

Dave I was just listening to "Price I Pay" and I got the urge to tell you I think the way you play has so much haunting beauty to it.

Posted by: Stranger at December 4, 2004 10:00 PM

Dave!

Hey still around just not feeling the need to post as much. However I did think of a couple of question........

What is your opinion of Mark Mcgrath with him doing that Extra shows these days. Many of his old fans can not believe what this old hardcore singer is now doing reporting pop culture. I find it a bit odd that he is doing that now when I picture the old "lemonade & brownies" Mcgrath. Whats your take?

Did you know or ever play with the late great Rust Epique from Crazytown? He was their original guitarist before butterfly broke out. Rumor has it he was thrown out of the band because he was not professional enough for the band with their upcoming fame from the butterfly single. I remember him as very out going & friendly with fans & over all a gentle soul who could make with about anyone smile with his energy.

As always thank you for the inspiration!

just got back from LA. had a great trip!

show was AMAZING!! really glad i went!

i'd post some pictures but i have no idea how.. also got a little video..

nice to meet abby, lyn and sarah. i saw a bunch of other people there, but i'm kinda shy and not good at meeting new groups at all.. so if i didn't chat to anyone - sorry!

sorry crecencia couldn't make it.. but i got in ok, thanks for your concern.

also sorry lyn that i got your phone number wrong!

and thanks to sarah for letting me hang around when we were the only people in the club that weren't allowed in the vip room! it was great talking to you!

lastly, as i was saying to sarah on the night - i don't get where people's anti-bias on TPC is coming from.. the music is really good! you could tell everyone was really into it! i don't understand some people. you'd think they'd be happy that music is being made..

anyway, just my lame 2 cents worth.

(i was sitting alone during the tints, but at least i was sitting next to micheal des barres!)
