A Quick 10

Untitled1(Carmen and I can find a mirror just about anywhere...)

CFR was a repeat last night, we didn't make it in. Next time for sure. (It has already been taped.)

1. Do you watch the TV show 24? I like it but only on DVD because I cannot wait one or two weeks to find out what happens next.

I am way into 24. When my wife goes to sleep early, I'll watch like 3 or 4 episodes in a row. I'm the same way, I need it on DVD. I even got season 3 pirated from e-bay cause I cannot wait for it's release. Now I am all caught up and ready to TiVo season 4.

2. In light of your hectic schedule, do you ever get a chance to actually read through the posts here on a given day and follow the drama and/or hilarity that sometimes ensues? Or do you (understandably) skim through them? If you ever do the former, what is your overall impression of the '6767 family' that has formed?

I read them all baby! There is always a computer around. I love this family, even the haters at times as they shake things up. You are all so multi-dimentional and interesting and talented.

3. When you go out clubbing, are you more of a sitting-down-watching-people kind of guy?

Well, yes, for the most part I am a leaning up against the bar kind of guy, but I will make one exception. If my wife wants me to dance with her, I dance my little heart out. Luckily, I don't go out clubbing very often.

4. So, what do you think Dave, what's your favorite, or you could even tell us what Peanuts character you most identify with...

Snoopy, fo' shizzle...

5. Dave, I hate to 'spam' you :D but I wasn't sure if you seen it before... I wrote an article on my inspirations, and you're in it...

To share a list with Chuck Yeager is an honor... Thank you...

6. I guess your still thinking about, if you could get anything for xmas what would it be?

I'm not much of a "stuff" guy. I'm fairly streamlined that way. I'd say a week off with my wife, which I AM getting this year!

7. Do ya still get guitar effects pedals sent to ya,what was the last one with a crazy sound were you impressed with?

I really love the old school Frequency Analyzer.

8. Dave~What else do you do when your wife goes to sleep early?

Internet and crime related television. Nothing like a good forensic program to drift you off into silent slumber.

9. Dave....the long black coat with boa on it your wearing in three days....where did you get/will you give it me?

Anna Sui made it for me. It was stolen many years ago...

10. You mention buying a copy of 24 on Ebay...how do you go about that? If people know your ebay name they can watch what you buy and stuff.

I have a "guy" who actually does it at my request. He is an avid e-bay shopper so it is no sweat for him to just order up a season of 24 or West Wing or something....

Damn! I took so long to type this, the topic got closed!!!

That Chips action figure reminds me of the guy on Reno 911. The one that wears those ridiculous shorts, I can't see that and not laugh. Saucy indeed...lol

I find it funny that I seem to have the same TV viewing habits as Dave...ANTM ~ I was very surprised that Amanda didn't win I thought for sure she had the most "High fashion" possibilites. Out of Eva and Yaya, I was glad Eva won. I felt bad for Amanda when she left & said she wanted the $100,000 to buy a house. I'm sure she will get work anyway, so I hope she'll be able to get a house. I'm not sure how old she is, but I know she'll be totally blind by the time she's 30. That is awful. I love to watch their "challenges" although, I thought this year's were kind of weak. The whole Tokyo thing was like, half the season!

As for people being bitter about Dave "replacing" John in the Peppers ~ These are mostly the same people who are now complaining that John "sucks" now & hasn't done a "good solo" since BSSM, so as far as I see it, there's no pleasing them. If John WAS playing exactly like the BSSM days, they'd complain that he hasn't grown as a musician in 20 years. It's just different. Who wants to hear the same thing over and over?! BORING!

Dave doing his thing with X-tina ~ I'm not really a fan of that genre of music, but I do think she's talented, but while I may not always like the artist, I like when they skewer songs by adding someone like Dave to the mix...there can be interesting results...that's why Faith by Limp Bizkit was so popular, it was a different take on something otherwise "lame" (I'm not calling it lame, I thought GM was awesome, INCLUDING Last Christmas!!!!)

Viva la Wham!

Another thing that prompted me to bring this up was... where'd you get those bug eyed glasses? They're cool! Again, thanks Dave.

Justin, I think those are Carl Lingerfelt shades, Dave's favorite designer :)-lol

Dave,
Thanks for answering my "24" question.

Another TV show that I love is called "The Office". It was on the BBC for 2 years. If you like dry british humor, I recommend that you get that on DVD. I love it.

Dave,

One more thing, I was watching MAD TV last night and they showed a very small clip of you on the red carpet of the Billboard Awards. The two guys from MAD TV asked you about your boa. They wanted to know if you stole it from Chewbaca. My question is... ¿Do they tell you that they are from MAD TV and that they are going to ask you silly questions?

Thanks,
Mike from NYC

Hey Dave!
I just read Scar Tissue, and am going to get your book soon...waiting to see if it's under my tree...

I just want to say that as a huge JA fan, and hence a DN fan, I LOVE One Hot Minute and especially the tune WARPED. I was a radio jock when that came out, and at 6 am Tuesday (add day) I played that song on-air and it blew my mind. Your presence was def. felt in RHCP and the record started out killing.

I know from the book that Kiedis and those guys loved having you. What a great relationship and super time in music. My own band is always trading out guys, but there are two of us that are the main engine.

Also, glad to see your happy for Perry. Classy all the way. Respect bro.

DAVE!!! Snoopy, fo' shizzle!! I could have guessed!! I picture you dancing like him!!!

Actually, my most favorite thing about Snoopy is his laugh, second is his loyalty to Woodstock, third is his dysfunctional brother, Spike, and fourth, his melancholy nature that surfaces when reminiscing about the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm....

Abby, I will keep your family in my prayers, they seem to work better when they are not about me...

Dave, guitarist to guitarist, I saw you pulling off some crazy riffs on your acoustic at home on one of your episodes of 'Til Death Do Us Part, do you rest the bottom of your wrist on the bridge ? or use your pinky as a stabilizer ? I find both can augment my playin depending what strings I may be soloing on, but I'm unsure whether its a bad habit.

Cheers brother

I remember reading years back that at some point you lived fairly close to John Frusciante when he lived in the hills. If I remember correctly some I *think* you told an interviewer that you could hear him jamming over the distance and would sometime play along with it.
Did anything like this take place, or did i get it wrong or was it just something cool to say in an interview?
Do you ever see eachother around town?

Rob Thanks for the laugh!! some people should keep their clothes on. Especialy those that look like a dripping yellow bag of bones. If I had to immagine what an 80 year old POW looked like nude I think it would be him.

Jezebel ~ I LOVE Snoopy's laugh! That's the first thing I thought of when Dave mentioned him. I also love when he walks around with his nose in the air, with such an attitude!
I happen to love Woodstock myself, I've even thought about getting a small Woodstock tattoo.

I also love that Snoop Dogg actually got that name because when he was a kid he loved Snoopy! He talked about it when he was on Letterman...so funny!

You've got to be fucking kidding me. I have an idea. Let's send them enough money to buy a .38 special. Then tell Geragos to sneak into the jail, put a bullet in that fucker's brain, save the taxpayers another 3-4 MIL, and give Laci's family the present they deserve. Unbelievable. The process that allows this to happen is what is truly flawed. Hey, maybe Laci's killer is hanging out with Nicole's killer? I'm gonna barf.

I was waiting for a call tonight and it never came, so later I go to check on my cell phone, and I can't find it. So I think I must have left it in the car and I go back to watching a movie until I need to call someone, and I go to the car and.... it's not there! F¤#K!!!!! It must have slipped from my pocket when I went to the video rental store because thinking back when I stepped from the car I recall hearing this sound that jumped me but I thought it was like melting snow falling or something. I went back there, too, but no phone. Well, at least I don't have to think about what I'm gonna get myself for Christmas. The reaction to losing something that's worth money to you just never changes.

Dave, you've got excellent taste in TV shows :) Nice picture of you and Carmen. I like how the photos you choose relate to the subject of each entry...I guess that's the idea of this diary anyway. Does Carmen ever check out your site? And is she impressed with your ability to keep it current? Hmm..I think I'm a day too late with these questions. Take care!

Hi Everyone!!

DAVE - Thanks so much for answering my question... and for this site in general. Your kind words and great outlook are so moving and inspiring.

Cute pic... I too have been known to use any available reflective surface to check out the makeup. :)

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. I don't have much to say today... I'm still recovering from a wonderful party last night, so the mind is a bit fuzzy. I'll probably go back to folding laundry and wrapping gifts now. Things that don't require too much cognitive thinking. :)

Cheers/love,

Dave i want to say that your my favorite guitarist out there. I just started playing guitar, i'm 15, and i was wondering if it took you awhile to pick up on it, i have a very hard time playing cords, and complicated melodies (so i can't mimic your playing at all). Any help or advice will be greatly apreciated.

PS. Keep it up with Camp Freddy, and i'm looking forward to the Panic Channel

Hi Dave

Quick question. How old is "TOO OLD" to be able to get in this business? Just a curious musician here.
I have been working in an all original rock band out of NY for a year (musician all my life) and I would like a real answer on this.
Thanks
TL

Posted by: TL at December 19, 2004 05:52 PM

Ylais--all I've got to say about that picture is:
YUMMY!

Snoopy--the *best* thing about Peanuts! Him dancing on Schroeder's piano--priceless!

RE: The mirror obsession--I always think it is a good thing to check, as you never know what might be stuck in your teeth or if the mascara is making you look like you have spiders stuck to you! And besides, if I looked as good as Carmen (or Dave, if I was a guy), I would be checking all the time to make sure I was *still* beautiful!

As far as sending Scott Peterson money, that ain't happenin'....I would much rather send my money to OJ than to Scott (and that ain't happenin' either!)

Hey guys!

I just came back from some Karaoke lol. First time. Unfortunately there weren't any TPC stuff in the mix but we did some pretty good renditions of Lose Yourself, Hotel California, and Hey Ya.

Does anyone else Karaoke? It's extremely silly, but major fun with the right crowd. Aw yea!

Posted by: Choppin Broccoli at December 19, 2004 07:08 PM

Karaoke--haven't done that in *ages* but I do a mean Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man"....soooooo much fun! If you ever sing with a partner, try "I Got You Babe"--it's pretty much one note all the way through (and besides, no one sings as badly as Sonny Bono, so it is destined to sound great!)

Posted by: Elizabeth at December 19, 2004 07:21 PM

I conquered my fear of heights, planes, water, and people long before I conquered my fear of Karaoke. I finally got enough courage to try it for the first time two months ago....and now I am HOOKED!!! I especially love singing cheesy blues songs at 1:30, when it's safe to say I will sound better to the audience....the first song I did was I got a Crush on you...the second...Mean to Me....and just last week I got together on a duet of Olivia Newton John's Let me be there. ...the trick, I have discovered, is to pick a tune SO obscure, that no one will really know if you are singing it right or not....evil genius....

jezebel(shout out to the Snoopy lovers, I don't want to embarass my son in public, but he does still have a favorite plush toy....)

Posted by: jezebel at December 19, 2004 07:27 PM

I actually only use CD's as a mirror (it's one of my unique traits) as i'm the last person on earth who refuses to get an ipod...so i always have cd's with me in my bag. For some strange reason i'm anti-ipod...i have no clue why though...so don't ask cause i won't be able to give a good answer!

i loved the questions and answers today...some great stuff...i did love that coat from three days (i actually really really liked dave's style from that era...very funky and cool)...too bad it was stolen.

Someone mentioned "the office" as good brit humor...if you want to see a great great dry british humor show...you should watch "black books" if you can...it's FANTASTIC...dry, sarcastic humor...brilliance!

that's all i have to say for today...much love to everyone

-love, emily

Also, what is your view on satellite radio, and do you think it will have as much of an impact on the future of the airwaves as so many people think it will? I have Sirius and love it, but switch to 103 for CFR and jonsey. I will keep an eye out for the xmas surprise on TPC.

The pick "ylais" send... Where it is taken from. It must be from 96' tour, just because I remember the concert in Turku, Finland... Flea was sitting just next to me under a tree but I didn't regognize him because of the gas mask... Then I have a picture of blur's gig and I took a picture of Damon (the singer of Blur), and I accidentally got Dave into the picture also... Dave was watching the show... The best part of the gig was that Chad's bass drum had a logo Oasis, and at the end of the show whole band smashed the drums into little pieces... I guess the Chilis don't like Oasis... I don't like them either... They're boring bragging sons of bitches... Dave! Have you visit in Finland second time? Other than in tour 96?

Everybody have a nice day... I have last day at work. I throw my blessed viola under my bed ,and then I pick up my sinfully sounding black Gibson les paul and gonna play Led Zep my first holiday week... maybe even some Jane's... It's so great that holidays came... 12 hours or more in work 7 days a week for almost 3 months... and now I can rest and rock out for over month...

Anybody gotta good idea for the new year? I was planning to go abroad... Maybe in LA good parties? dunno...
xxx for all tomorrows parties... xxx love you all!

could someone inform me about this collaboration with Perry, Flea ,John and jack irons, or is this just a rumour.

Posted by: Lion-Heart at December 20, 2004 04:08 AM

so Pekka lost his cell phone... Me too... I was in nightclub just week ago and left my phone on the table and told my friends to watch it for me while I will be in the bathroom... unfortunately my so called friends were so wasted that some guy came and stole it... can you believe that... Actually I don't mind about the cell phone. I can always buy another... but the numbers on the phone that were lost pisses me off... There were lot of numbers of musicians all over Europe and I think I will probably never get them back. I had almost 30 bass players 20 drummers and dozen simgers... It's hard to go jamming with people if they're out of reach... f#&k that... "Good times bad times they all got my share"

"Flea was sitting just next to me under a tree but I didn't regognize him because of the gas mask."

Hey Tim, I just gotta ask, did it not occur to you that it just might be Flea because of the fact that the guy WASN'T WEARING ANY PANTS?!?!

Posted by: Lyn at December 20, 2004 05:28 AM

Hi Lyn! That festival was awesome... At friday there was Neil Young and RATM... and for the saturday I have to admit that I don't recall nothing... but I was 18 years old and there were dozens of people running without clothes... I was more attracted at looking the girls without clothes, than some crazy one with gasmask... godsakes... he could´ve been some kind of nazi... But when chilis got on the stage I realized what´s the name of the game... We actually passed him a joint and because of that he left... I guess he was afraid to take of that gasmask... some girls just would have might rape our beloved flea...
And for Dave I have to say that the gig on june 96 was the highlight and the end of teenage... After the show I became man...in the sense of having sex first time in my life... It was pitty that Anthony was not in his best shape because of the motorcycle accident... but the feeling was great!

Posted by: Timothy "timotheus" at December 20, 2004 07:26 AM

Dave! When you are going to release the album with panic channel?... and do you tour to Europe?

Posted by: Timothy "timotheus" at December 20, 2004 07:37 AM

you are a bad man for getting pirate DVDs *laughs*

(nice mirror, by the way)

it snowed a bit earlier. I was going to take a picture for you, but by the time I'd found the digital camera, it had stopped d; oh well.

Timothy, my friend, how are you!

Dave, completely envious of your DVD of West Wing Season 3....As a fellow fan of the series, what do you think of this season so far...it's jumped ahead two years, they gave my father figure a heart attack, made CJ chief of staff, there's a girl who played Charlie Brown's sister on Broadway posing as press secretary..in my opinion, they should have brought Ainsley back for that one, and poor Jed, they've turned him into FDR...who would you vote for the next president...Detective Simone, Hawkeye, or Ed Bundy...oh, or the guy from Office Space? I know there's a fifth guy, but it's all too confusing to me...and what happened to Donna?

jezebel(there WAS a question in there, wasn't there?)

Posted by: jezebel at December 20, 2004 08:13 AM

Damn Tim, that DOES sound like a fun festival. Wish I'd made that one. Now, I have heard stories about people actually using a gas mask to smoke the pot (is that what it's called nowadays?) but I don't know if that's true or not. Hey, let's get together a festival like that here in the States, yall! We can call it Woodstock3-uhh, on second thought scratch that

Colleen, yeah, this weather is brutal! I had a car incident today too. I went to leave for work this morning and found that one of my tires was flat. I was pissed! But it worked out because it gave me a way to justify working from home today, even though the garage around the corner fixed it in like 10 min. Haha! So now I'm home finishing my Xmas cards, instead of sitting in the office listening to the ever annoying clicking of keyboards. Woo hoo!

Hope everyone has a Merry Xmas, and best wishes for a healthy and happy 2005. May we all have a bit of good luck coming our way!

Dave!

So you said you dance with Carmen...has she given you any pointers, or do you just do what comes naturally? I'd LOVE to see some pics :-)

Have a GREAT holiday! I'm offline for a week, going to see the family in sunny Tampa. I can't WAIT to get out of this sub-zero weather...

She has so much work that she only comes here for christmas and I haven't bee able to go to London for awhile... Greetings to Lyn also. I am thinking this might be a reference to a charity gig a while back where they played My Time together, but that was with Chad Smith, not Jack Irons.
If there is something else in the pipeline i haven't heard or read anything.

Aww, thanks Man. I appreciate it. Your sister is a guy that has an Israelian boyfriend? Damn, you Europeans are so much more advanced than we are. And how the hell do you guys get a whole month off? I get Christmas Eve off, and that's only for half a day. Any jobs there in Finland?

Posted by: Lyn at December 20, 2004 09:37 AM

Hey... Mr.FreAk... you got great site. I wish I had my own site with interesting things to see... maybe I´ll try to make it on holiday... The people in here seem to watch a lot television... I don´t... most of the programs are crap... except Conan O´brian... He's great.
Anybody got a good idea for a good movie to watch with family at christmas???

AHHH Dana u so lucky, wish I was home with the heater and hot choc!!!!!!!

Posted by: Colleen at December 20, 2004 09:38 AM

Hey Lyn... I´m a freelancer musician... It's crappy because you gotta travel so much and I'm hardly never home. I do classical, pop, rock you name it... but now I scheduled to be whole month doing nothing... Otherwise I'll be jumping from the roof or getting wasted... almost 3 months with no day off... If you are a musician it's not very heavy for your body, but month ago I felt like my head is going to explode...
Yeah... My sister studied violin playing in Israel Tel Aviv, because that's where the great artist are... and she got herself a great guy... They moved together to London and now they live happily there...
...maybe I should go to Israel to get my girl, but then again I could find it here... and the whole thing in Israel is rather hot... If you go to stores they will check your bags in the case for bombs... and last time I was there two carbombs exploded couple of blocks from my sisters apartment like 4 years ago... The situation in Israel might be even more dangerous nowadays... For my opinion I think the jews should make compromise with palestinian...?!? What abou you Lyn? What do you do for living?

Hey Tim,

I work in a public relations department that handles the booking for the American comedian Buddy Hackett, but work has been kinda slow lately.

I also do miniature wood carvings of Lhapsa Alpsa puppies, but I;m having trouble finding any return clients. :( And I hear ya on that head exploding thing-I thought it was only me!

about the Flea, Perry, John..."Thing"

what started as a rumor on xiola elicited a 'teaser' from Etty Farrell, and then a later elaboration from Pete DiStefano, who says only that he listened to one song, and that it 'made him smile'

There....

"You are all so multi-dimentional and interesting and talented."

Dementia/Dimension... You seem to have combined those two words to create a wonderful new phrase just for us. I don't mind being dimentional at all. (I'm so silly)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RANTZ!!!

Icy roads really suck.... but they suck more for the chick in the SUV in front of me this morning who lost control of her car and ran into a fence. Not to worry, she's fine.

Hey Dave - glad to hear you're so in touch with your fans. Unlike Billy Corgan, you seem to appreciate yours. LOL

Anyway, my actual post was to request some advice from you, since you are a newlywed. My fiance and I have known each other for 9 years, dated on and off and finally got it right this time around. He's a musican himself, very talented and emotional as most guitar players are, yet I also found out the hard way he is EXTREMELY jealous and very set in his ways. Having a beautiful wife like Carmen I must assume that you have to deal with your jealous side (if it exists) quite often. Do you have any advice for us, pre-martial and beyond? We're moving in together in about 2 weeks and our wedding is in September. This is a first for us both - living with a "partner" and getting married.

Thanks for any and all advice. Have a great holiday.

Hey Dave. I was wondering if you listen to a lot of blues music, and if so, who?

I just saw Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers play the other night and he was unreal. Made some of my favorite axe men sound like amateurs. (but not you of course!)

Dave,

I know that you're into Forensic Science, have you ever watched any HBO's Autopsy episodes from their America Undercover series? I love that show. Dr. Michael Baden is my favorite forensic specialist/coroner on the series. He explains everything so that you can understand it.

Just heard "I would for you" for the first time yesterday. Wow is all I can say to that. Just curious if that song was just you and Perry. I'm actually happy that one slipped under the radar for me so I can enjoy it as a new song, which doesn't happen too often these days. Cheers
