Vegas - CF Style

Problem_gambling_posterfrom_loteryI'm off to Vegas tomorrow for a Camp Freddy show. Unfortunately Jezz, it is a private show for Chrome Hearts and we are not allowed a guest list. I wish you a Happy Birthday all the same. I'll check back in later.

Right now I'm watching John Lydon in a cage with a white shark swimming around him, saying he feels "isolation".
He's a nutter! He's doing a whole show on Shark Attacks, and designed a suit to "scare the sharks off".
It's scaring me!

Posted by: ylais at November 3, 2004 12:52 PM

Dave, any word on a "Navarro" PRS?????

Posted by: Tim at November 3, 2004 12:52 PM

Phew! He's out of the water. I almost wet myself watching it. Next week he's going out to meet some Gorillas in the wild. So cool. Lydon doing an animal show, and he loves animals. At last something really good on TV. :D

Have a great time Jez! :D

Dave~Who are Chrome Hearts?

Love to all Lisa xxxx

Happy Birthday everyone...

I'm so depressed about the election results. I've made a new playlist on my ipod titled "Nov. 3, 2004" and I'm filling it with the saddest, most angst-ridden songs I've got...

Any suggestions?

Posted by: caughtalitesneeze at November 3, 2004 01:23 PM

Happy Birthday Jezzi!

Here's some info on Chrome Hearts:
http://www.united-arrows.co.jp/ir/en/ch.html

Unfortunately, all their website has are listings for the store locations, there are NO photos of their items!

I recall Dave posing with some Chrome Hearts products, but don't remember where, possibly at Justice Howards site.

take care,

hey caughtalitesneeze, what about 'tired' by the foo fighters. that one always makes me sad and happy at the same time..depends on my mood or thoughts at the moment. just love the song

I can be your liar
I can be your bearer of bad news
Sick and uninspired by the diamonds in your fire
Burning like a flame inside of you
Is this just desire or the trut

it has nothing to do with the elections, i know. but this song is in my 'i'm-sad-and-i-need-soppy-songs-list'

enjoy vegas, Dave and Jezzi!
love, emma

I may be paranoid but for some reason I think Dave was busting my balls on CFR on Saturday.=(

Chrome Hearts---'edgy' fashion, they make everything from biker jackets to sunglasses to leather diaper bags and booties...Wicked sexy!! So, Dave, bring back some swag!!!! I will send you snail mail addy, jewelry fits me perfectly!! LOL

Sad songs!!! Come on people, don't make me repeat myself, sure, take a moment, then SUCK IT UP!! Apathy is what got us into this mess!

Hey, I can't go to Vegas, I have computer class tomorrow, web page design presentation...ahh, the glamourous life of the single mom teacher student

oh, and for all my family, Mike and I are doing well, we had a great counseling session, he is going to stay at uncle's till end of semester because he is just loving the testosterone levels there, can't say I blame him...he does love to tell me he is a 'grown ass man"

How old am I? I could get all Oprahesque and give you my internal age, but I am pocket fours today, I was born the day after Kennedy was elected. Wednesday's child is full of woe, well, I am full of something

Brett, hey stud, Jezzi and the PaniCats are coming to a club near you!!!

jezzi(old enough to be your mom.....ooooh, now THERE's a fantasy for ya/)

Posted by: jezebel at November 3, 2004 01:40 PM

Jezebel-I promise I will only be depressed and sad for today. This was my first real election where I was out volunteering and registering people to vote...

I just feel like I did so much work these past 6 months and although I respect America's decision, I can't help but feel a bit down...

Let me sulk for the rest of the day and then I promise I'll start working for 2008 :)

Posted by: caughtalitesneeze at November 3, 2004 01:51 PM

aww...jezzi got a shout out (kind of) from dave...hooray! happy birthday jezz!!! i hope it's totally, completely awesome!!

caughtalitesneeze~

considering your handle, I'd suggest Tori's 'Sweet Dreams' a 'b' side off her LE album. (Side note: was originally *on* the album, but Atlantic at the time were strong Bush supporters and made a massive stink about having it on the album. With them holding the threat of not releasing LE at *all* Tori made it a B side.)

More currently, I'd suggest 'Pet' and 'The Noose' off A Perfect Circle's The Thirteenth Step, and the Title track of KMFDM's last album WWIII. Lots of nice Bush samples in that. Ministry's new album Houses of the Mole' has a great angry 'political fight song' for it's first track, titled 'No W'.

Jez~ happy B-day amongst the kind welcomes. Nice to know I'm not the only fossil amongst the 67 crowd. (I feel especially attached to the site, due to it being my birth year.) I just keep telling myself I'm aging really fucking well... heh. It's the massive caffeiene. Well, that and other things ;)

Anyone interested please check out my comic and art site: http://archive.gamespy.com/comics/deathmarch/ my blog is located via the news button. Gotta say, I kinda like it here.

Funny/odd/partially demented/always unbelievable stories comin' up... (No badgers, on methadrine or in other chemically altered states, will be harmed in said stories.)

Thanks Rantz! Yes, I heard all about that b-side fiasco!!!

Have you heard Scarlet's Walk at all from Tori? Very appropriate to play today. I'm interested to see how this election will effect her next album.

Ok, back to 6767 chatter :)

Posted by: caughtalitesneeze at November 3, 2004 01:58 PM

caughtalitesneeze~ You should listen to:

~Hurt by NIN (well DUH! :p)
(~Something I can Never Have by NIN?)
~June 10th by My Ruin
(~Precious Things or Spark by Tori Amos?)
~The Bed (the DN version, of course :p)

I used to have this cd with only sad(ish) music, but I'd brought it everywhere and it was starting to get fucked up so I threw it in the trash and one month later I lost all my mp3 files. Just my luck (note that I aaalways buy music I like. This cd was just a way of getting all the sad songs from my record collection in one place) The only song off the cd I can recall right now is 'June 10th'. Al well :p
Ahh, wait! 'I Want You' or something by Elvis Costello (??) is a great sad song. But maybe only if you're sad cause you want someone that you can't have...Like Kerry for President *lol :p

emily~ A friend of mine saw Manson in some weird place in Europe (can't remember where, as I opted not to go) a few weeks ago (I think he had an art show there) and he seemed to be doing allright. Dita looked stunning as always (at least she did in the pictures my friend took :p) So my guess would be that he's doing allright. Lemme go find the pics my friend sent me and examine his expression as he posed for the pictures....
Ah, he looks stern, nevermind what I just said :p

~Noonie Chantelle~

Posted by: Chantelle at November 3, 2004 02:06 PM

caughtalitesneeze~ Scarlet's Walk has been in my cd changer about 90% of the time since I bought it. Although Tori's made other albums with songs I like better, this is my favourite album by her. I donno why, probably because all the songs are so easy to listen to, none of them annoy me so there's no need to skip any tracks. My Birdies like that cd too :p

~Noonie Chantelle~

Posted by: Chantelle at November 3, 2004 02:08 PM

YES!!! Something I can never have by NIN - my favorite sad, I just got my heart broken, song of all time!!!

Hi Dave. Have a great time in Vegas. Please come to San Francisco soon! Please, pretty please!
Blessed be

Posted by: Krystal at November 3, 2004 02:35 PM

Sad songs…how about “Say Hello to Heaven-Temple of the Dog? RIP Andy…or “Down in a Hole Alice in Chains. Layne died on my birthday (as did Kurt Cobain).

But focus on the happy things, people! NIN, no matter how down the song sounds, makes me happy. Jane’s (especially Summertime Rolls & live Jane Says), RHCP, Tool, VR, U2, lots of cheesy 80’s songs too. And strangely, when I need to calm down, I put on Trust No One and it soothes me.

East Coast 67’ers…speaking of Manson, he’s at Roseland Ballroom on the 18th. Anyone going?

Sue

Jezz I was going to tell you that I hope you have a great time in Vegas and if you found a boy toy that had a friend to send him over here since the sugar, alcohol and toys aren’t enough to get over the election results. J/k but seriously I hope you have a great B-day whatever you decide to do.

Hi family, CC here. I am doing well, just can't really eat solid food for a few days. Missed you guys.

Problem, I can;t find anyone to go to the Key Club show with me. SO...I have decided to travel down by myself. But...can I meet up with some of you. I know L.A. but I just don;'t want to go to the show alone. Does anyone want to go with me? I am gonna stay with my aunt in Venice, that is like a half an hour from the strip. Does anyone want to show up and hang out with a crazy hispanic girl?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEZZI! What a gift, Dave told you happy b-day. You go girl! Have fun today!

WENDY-Can't go to Vegas, it was just a dream....besides, I would want to go with you, speaking of boy toys, you should have been with me last night, lots of college boys watching election results on big screen tvs...

Caught a lite sneeze, put this on your iPod manana

Peter Gabriel/Kate Bush Don't Give Up from Peter's album SO
in this proud land we grew up strong
we were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

no fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
but no one wants you when you lose

don't give up
'cos you have friends
don't give up
you're not beaten yet
don't give up
I know you can make it good

though I saw it all around
never thought I could be affected
thought that we'd be the last to go
it is so strange the way things turn

drove the night toward my home
the place that I was born, on the lakeside
as daylight broke, I saw the earth
the trees had burned down to the ground
don't give up
you still have us
don't give up
we don't need much of anything
don't give up
'cause somewhere there's a place
where we belong

Posted by: jezebel at November 3, 2004 03:24 PM

caughtalitesneeze~ yeah Scarlet's was the best album she's done in a long long time. The new stuff sounds very promising so far, so I have high hopes she'll continue on that trend and not go the way of choirgirl. (There are non-musical reasons I don't think she'll go that way, and continue in this (Scarlet's) direction as well.) Still hold a bit of a grudge towards Atlantic for pulling Sugar and Dutchman off LE, but at least they released it. Would love to see 'Hurt Just a Little" finally get released. (Tori's collab with Mikey Stipe, Flea and Dave done back in... 94? 95? Dave?) Very cool song.

Sue ~ Yea Temple of the Dog / MLB! Bone China and Crown of thorns are still amongst my favorite songs. Seattle sure was a lot of fun back then. Andy, Layne, Kurt... such a fucking waste. Hard stuff to find, but Chris Cornell's brother and sisters had a band called Inflatable Soule. Really very cool stuff, very different from Soundgarden and Chris' stuff. They put out a couple CDs that were indy releases in the NW, but no label ever signed on which sucked a 3rd world nation of ass.

On Everclear's first album "world of noise", there's a track called 'Loser makes good', that works in this context, Tool's Opiate fits, Sister's of Mercy's Vision Thing, Manson's Cake and Sodomy or The Reflecting God, Crystal Method's Keep Hope Alive...

Shit I could list songs for hours. Work to do however, so rather than musically meander along further, I will now make my exit.

Crecencia don’t worry about going alone. This year has been an awakening for me. I never attended anything by myself before and in April when my friends didn’t want to go to something that I really did, someone told me to just go, and guess what it was great. It was so liberating not having to wait for someone or have someone hold you down. I totally love my friends and always have a great time with them but a lot of the times they simply can’t make it and if they do they lag big time. Since April I have had so many surreal experiences that I would have missed if I hadn’t decided to venture out on my own. Plus I’ve met so many cool people that I would never have talked to before. Anyhow, I don’t know if any of my friends are going but whether they are or aren’t you could hang out with us. Well that’s if you want to.

Posted by: wendybird at November 3, 2004 03:53 PM

Thanks Wendybird.
That sounds cool. I would liek to hang out with you. I accually would like to have friend in L.a. I only know my family there but it would be nice to hang out with other people besides my aunt. Don't get me wrong but she is alittle to old to hang out with at clubs.

And I think its time I meet my 6767 family. I will email you and figure out a time and place to hook up.
Thanks Girl!

oh, that's right... I do remember that Dave went in to do some guitar work on something Tori was doing....

How was that Dave?

I've gotten every song mentioned here on my ipod now for my Nov. 3 playlist. I've always loved that Peter G. song. Thanks everyone! (*disclaimer-all downloaded legally through itunes; don't need to get sued today).

Hi Jezz, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I've been lurking a few weeks but I think your b-day is a great time to come out again :)
I hope you do something totally extravagant and luxurious for yourself!
As for the Election - at least most of you live in a state where Kerry took the win (CA, NY..) I live in ass-backwards-I-can't-figure-out-the-ballot-Louisiana which went, you guessed it, BUSH. I hang my head in shame and complete confusion as to how that could have happened...
Dave the Beautiful and Intriguing, I hope you have an amazing time in Vegas baby!

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts and prayers. Jezzi I hope your birthday has been wonderfull, mine has not been. Tomorow is an important day for us. We are going to see a new doctor about my wife and ask him to help us with her health and her job. If he is willing to help us fight then we may have a chance, if not we are screwed.

On the election... I was listening to the first RATM album today. Amazing how it nails whats going on right now. Sad really, that 15 yrs later we are faced with so much of the same bullshit.

Posted by: Shane at November 3, 2004 06:54 PM

So is the 16th the date for Dragonfly?? What time is the show?? Is there any possible way of getting security a little more laxed on the camera thing?? “Geeze Louise I have so many questions today. (Actually I have a ton of work to get done and I’m avoiding it like the plague)
It also doesn’t help that I’ve been indulging on sugar all week long. You know it’s not really a good thing to work on a place that has candy and food all the freaking time. Everyone and their mother brought in their Halloween candy (the real stuff not the low carb stuff) and of course they have to place it in front of my desk. Not to mention all the baked stuff, the multiple potlucks….when there is no sweet stuff people tend to go nuts here. If I don’t get another job soon I’m afraid I’ll really be unable to leave.

Anyhow, it’s the sugar taking now. I promise no more yapping from me…..well unless it’s really important.

Itanja~Thank you very much for the links and info. The Justice Howard photos of Dave are stunning. I was looking at them again on J.H's website a few days ago, and it should have clicked with me. I see there are a couple of those photos on The Panic Channel website. An amazing photographer.

Glad you enjoyed Justice Howard's website & the Chrome Hearts info Lisa.

She has been around for many years, she really deserves to be more famous than she is. Perhaps she can work on some stuff with The Panic Channel. I would love to see what she does in the video medium.

Justice work reminds me of video director/photographer Floria Sigismondi in her approach to her subjects, though Justice photos aren't as creepy as Sigismondi's work, though it can be dark, intense & heavy.

I personally don't shoot photos in a studio these days, my stuff is mainly concerts & photo journalism type shoots, of course I still enjoy looking at studio photography. Justice's work is actually a big inspiration to me in my graphic design work.

Always happy to tell more people about Justice Howard.

Rantz... I was gonna tell you that your site rules, but Steve Isaacs beat me to it. Your sketches are phenomenal. Your "rants" rule, too, Rantz. So glad to have you here.

Jezebel... My mother used to look me in the face with squinty eyes and say that all the time... "Wednesday's child is full of woe." I think she may have said it again the other day. That's her way of saying, "It's not my fault you're so unhappy. You were cursed from the day you were born."

Sue... I was just about to ask everyone about Manson at Roseland on the 18th... I may go. Anyone else?

Posted by: NightBird at November 3, 2004 07:35 PM

Oh, and Shane, I don't think I wished you a better birthday than you were having, but I hope it has improved. A happy birthday to you (even though that seems almost inappropriate). May things go well with the doctor tomorrow.

Posted by: NightBird at November 3, 2004 07:42 PM

Itanja~I agree Justice's work is inspiring. Great imagery, and with a lot of intense contained emotion. Definately deserves more attention.
Did you study graphic design, as well as photography? How did you get involved with it?

I found some Chrome Hearts things for sale on ebay in case anyone wants to know what they do.

Love Lisa xxxx

"Your site is great, I love the sketchbook section. You are really talented, I will be keeping up on your stuff. Really awesome."

Wow.

Ok, so I've worked 'round the music biz off n' on since '87 (did storyboards for many of the classic 80s butt-rock videos), but I gotta admit Steve, I read your post, rubbed my eyes a couple times, re-read it, went and cleaned my glasses, read it again, got up went and had a cig, and came back in and read it another time.

Dude, fucking much thanks and appreciatation. That made my week. I've been very impressed by your talents on the site and the vocals for TPC. So much so that I've actually been planning on making the jaunt to LA to see the dragonfly or key club show. (this is no trivial matter with my complete lack of anything vaguely resembling a life outside of game dev and side projects)

You guys are going to produce some astounding music, I can tell just from what little I've heard so far, and I have nothing but massive respect for all of you, so for you to like my stuff.. well, that's really a Sally Field at the oscars kinda moment. Again, thanks!!

For you ,and anyone else interested, please check out the 2005 RAINN benefit calendar. I did a painting for one of the months (jan 2006), and if you're willing to ignore that fact, there are some truly kick ass artists on it, and it's for a very good cause.

http://www.rainn.org/calendar.html

Delving into the past a bit, here are some of the photos I put up for artist ref for the calendar from the photo shoots I did for the Under the Pink and Boys for Pele Tour programs... http://archive.gamespy.com/comics/deathmarch/rantz/tori/index.htm I just ask that everyone doesn't reproduce them anywhere. you want to save them for yourself or a friend, that's totally cool, just not for public repro.

so, Steve, Dave... you guys got someone to do the album cover yet? I do CG videos too... heh ;)

and everyone else who complimented the site/art... thanks so much! Man, now that I know people are following this shit, I'll have to make sure to hit the 3 days a week schedule. Ah well... sleep is for the weak and those without a deep passion and love for all things caffeinated.

Currently amusing myself with their "25 Greatest Frontmen Ever!" article. Love that mag, it makes me giggle, cos it's so blunt.

Oh yeah, it's actually 24 men, and Courtney Love. :D

Ylias, i didnt know you like Kerrang. Kerrang is my favourire magazine!!! i have a pile of them under my bed dating from 1998. now, in the part 4 months, for some reason its become impossible to get it in south africa anymore. none of the millions of book/magazine stores here supply it anymore? very sad

Posted by: Kyle at November 4, 2004 07:26 AM

Ylais, not that i am being argumentitive, as that is not in my nature but when I comes to punk frontmen, only JOE STRUMMER & Paul Weller really matter? I could be wrong? I could be right!

Posted by: tonto1% at November 4, 2004 07:59 AM

Caughtalightsneeze, there are only 2 songs that need be on your i-pod, Warrior Souls 4 More Years(Coincidentally written when Bush Sr was re-elected) and 1% by Janes(Biggest gang i Know their called the government)

Posted by: Tonto1% at November 4, 2004 08:02 AM

kyle~yeah I love Kerrang, must have each week. too bad you can't get it where you are, very strange as well. I wonder why? I buy two each week already for someone else! Have you checked out their website to see what the deal is? Or can you subscribe. Let me know. May be able to get you it. They have updated it recently.

Tonto, I have no argument with Joe Strummer and Paul Weller being great frontment. I am a HUGE The Jam fan..since years and years, and The Clash as well. my room was covered in posters of both those bands. (and Adam and the Ants..guess they overlooked Adam too) I was thinking they overlooked James Hetfield. but they seem to have gone with more shocking people. Then again why isn't Iggy Pop there? Debbie Harry, okay, she's a frontwoman.

Hi dear Dave.
Today I'm a little angry. Few days ago I asked you (please!) our whishes for my bday; it was my only desire.Well, Jezz is a very lucky person! You do that for her, but not for me. I'm so unhappy........It doesn't matter (it isn't true!). Bye and good morning family. See you soon.

Ylais ~ Frontmen was mispelled due to my Bowyers Sausage sized fingers, my apologies. No i haven't seen PIL live, but did watch the pistols in Finsbury Park on their Filthy Lucre tour, honest Verdict? - Utter Shite. Living in south wales, always have to travel to England to watch any decent live acts.

Met James hetfield in Eurodisney last year, he was with his Wife & Children, as was I. Loved metallica since watching them with cliff in Cardiff on Master of Puppets tour '86. Totally gutted/disgruntled when he totally blew me off(only wanted him to pose with my child for a quick snapshot) :-) haven't had same view of him since then. Maybe he should not be approached when he was with his family, but then again maybe he should not take his family to such a public place and not expect to be approached.

Tonto~ I completely understand that he wanted some privacy when he was with his family at Eurodisney. Even famous people must be allowed to take their family to public places and be left in peace.

sonicyouth makes some of the saddest music, to me anyway. especially the album a thousand leaves.

In hindsight I realise that he probably wanted privacy, but if YOU were in my position, would you not have tested the waters and approached him, the whole event was totally surreal.

Good Morning Dave and Family...Dave, have an awesome time in Vegas!

Read an interesting article this morning (we really are all addicts!): "Caffeine fiends, java junkies do suffer withdrawl, scientists say".

"It turns out that we really do need that morning coffee or afternoon soda. A scientific review that appears in this month's edition of Psychopharmacology reports that half of all adults experience drug-withdrawl symptoms when their coffee or soft drink supply is cut off.....In fact, the findings may lead to worldwide changes in how doctors view caffeine withdrawl....This is the beginning of having a formal diagnosis and guidelines....Researchers in the caffeine studies increased, decreased and cut off caffeine doses while monitoring bodily changes. Among the withdrawl symptoms found were sometimes debilitating headaches, fatigue or drowsiness, depression or irritability, difficulty concentrating and flu-like aches and nausea. People who want to give up caffeine without suffering withdrawl symptoms can avoid the internal trauma by cutting back slowly...but experts ask: Why? If you don't have a medical contra-indication and you can afford the drug and you can protect the continuity of your supply, it's not a problem at all...it's relatively available and cheap...make decisions about your caffeine use, using it as a drug to optimize your functioning, instead of willy-nilly taking it here and there."

Off for another cup of my drug of choice...Happy Thursday!

tonto~ I've been in similar positions several times, and I can tell you that I never approach famous people like that. Even when my friends want to, I tell them not to, because they'd only embarrass me (just you imagine how annoying it must be having random strangers bother you all day) Last year I was at a party with Jon from korn, and I think korn's pretty cool, but did I approach him? No. Even though since we were at the same party, I guess it would've been allright. But still it could possibly be a bit annoying for him, as he was trying to chill with his friends (well, other rock star friends) so I didn't.

I guess it's possible that some famous people get off on having people approach them, though.
