thepanicchannel.com Launch

PanicouijaThe Panic Channel web site has now been officially launched. Thanks to Steve I, who has taken on the job of web design and has done an amazing job I must say, we were able to get the new face of TPC up by Halloween as promised. (At least by L.A. time.) For now, the content is slim, but we will be updating all week and continually changing and adding stuff from now on. Of course, 6767, stephenperkins and steveisaccs will remain as they are, but the majority of TPC collective information will be found on the new site.

Thank you,

Dave

Nice to see TPC up and running, your online community is a thing of beauty. Just finished reading DTTAH, seems to me that the path of self destruction you followed was very similar to what John Frusciante put himself through. Glad you came through it unscathed(?) Hope your new project brings you the happiness that JA couldn't(Hope it brings me the same happiness as JA did) Your inspiration has encompassed the entire globe, and you have managed to make a handful of close friends from Merthyr, South Wales very, very happy. Love & respect as always, hope to see you on british shores soon, any chance of seeing you play 1%/Slow Divers live,as all shouts requesting them in Nottingham Rock City fell on deaf ears.

The panic channel looks great! Steve did a great job. Can't wait for the first cd to come out! I just finished DTTAH too, and wow. No wonder you have such a great attitude about life now...you went through so much. And if I can say this without sounding condesending (sp?)...good for you. Most people wouldn't have made it through.

ok, remember that fairy tale, the Emperor's New Clothes, I must be the only one that doesn't see the site, maybe it's cause I have aogotohell still, but I click all links and I still get Website Coming Halloween, maybe I am trapped in a parellel universe or something, but somebody, please tell me I'm not too crazy...

Seems like im the only one who can't get on it then...all im getting is that usual..."website coming halloween".
This (http://www.thepanicchannel.com/) is the correct link right?

Dave-Love the new web site. Steve did a hell of a job on that! I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys play again. Take care....

P.S. Good Morning Jezzi, Abby, Sarah, Mortisha8, Freak and everybody else!

Hey All
Just pre-ordered an awesome CD/DVD--Axis of Justice concert with Flea, Maynard, Tom Morello, Brad Wilke, Serj Tankian, Pete Yorn etc. If you pre-order you get a poster and a autographed (Morello and Tankian) CD booklet. Only 13.98! Lots of cover songs, kind of a really political Camp Freddy, ha ha.
http://www.sonymusicstore.com/store/catalog/SearchAction.do?searchBy=Quick&keyword=axis
BTW, Dave must have really recently done his questions for TPC website if he put "The Grudge" as his movie. Anyone else see "Saw"? EXCELLENT! Thought it would be a slasher flick but it was really good, scary and made you think because you're constantly trying to figure out the clues they drop.

That is IT, I am uninstalling today!! Went to MSN, typed panic channel, found it right away,

Now I am semi-content to find out that Steve, Dave and I all think Thursday's ROCK!!!

But, Dave, tell me you are kidding, about how you would spend your last day, I understand the spooning part, but I am hoping you weren't serious about the second....

Hi Dave,

The PC site looks great. I loved the questionaires, the design is very appealing & easy to navigate. Steve did a great job~~!!

As Emily has also asked.....Wondering why the photos can't be enlarged or even downloaded. Is there a reason why everything on the site is 'embedded'? Tell Steve to get working on that! ;) lol

Some of us would have liked to download some logos or photos from the site to be incorporated into our own PC designs which we've being doing for you over the past few months.

Is there a 'copyright' reason why Steve designed the PC site this way?

artfully yours,
itanja

sweet site.

Getting help.

Any recomendations on how to learn guitar without the high cost of lessons, any books, vids or anything that is a one time cost to get started? I was told that I would have to have something to focus on that would not have anything to do with drugs. Parents are pissed but will be ok.

(Typing this out for the 2nd time after the computer just crashed...grrr)

Hey,

The TPC site looks fantastic!! I love the pix and questionnaires. It's nice to 'get to know' Dave and the gang in such a fun way, and it's wonderful that they are so refreshingly open and accessible. We're truly lucky to have entertainers/musicians like you out there.

I checked out the site in between filling out online forms for unemployment. What fun, let me tell you. (As you recall, my former company had a big layoff last month, and today was the first day to apply for unemployment.) But it will be nice to get paid to do nothing for a little while, until I actively begin to freelance or find a better job. There's certainly enough to do at home to keep me occupied; stuff that I'd neglected for ages because I was always too busy w/ work and grad school.

And it gives me more time to stay up-to-speed with this site. Can't complain yet!

Shameless plug: If anyone knows of anyone who needs an experienced, versatile writer, you know where to find her. :)

Hope everyone is well.

Cheers,
-Denise

I think I only sent my "Getting to know you" to 5 people, so for those of you dying to know more about me, below are the goods:

1. What time do you get up? Recently, around 7 because my brain is full, but when my life is semi-calm, I sleep until I run the risk of being more than half hour late to work.
2. If you could eat lunch with one person, who would it be? I'm with Jez... I don't really like eating lunch, nor do I like eating with people for lunch.
3. Gold or silver? Gold is icky. Silver is the s**t!
4. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? Spiderman 2
5. What is your favorite TV show? RIP The X-Files (I just can't find a good replacement... CSI is close though.)
6. What do you have for breakfast? Hot tea with prozac and Alavert
7. Who would you hate to be stuck in a room with? Several of my ex-roommates, with whom I WAS stuck in a few small rooms, and Ashlee Simpson. I can also name a few people who would hate to be stuck in a room with me...
8. What/Who inspires you? Loss seems to be my main inspiration, followed by Love. Then, chocolate?
9. What is your middle name? Beth
10. Beach, City or Country? Beaches do nothing but burn me... Plus they're kinda sandy, which equals dirty. Not for me. It's a toss up between the tranquility of the country (horsies!) and the bustle of the city (Broadway, baby!).
11. Favorite ice cream? Cold Stone Creamery cheesecake ice cream with chocolate chips
12. Butter, plain or salted popcorn? Drowning in butter

13. Favorite Color? Red and purple are tied.

15. Favorite sandwich? Not really a sandwich kinda gal.
16. What characteristics do you despise? Shallowness, closed-mindedness
17. Favorite flower? I know this is cliché, but deep red roses.
18. If you could go anywhere in the world on a vacation, where would you go? Austria or Morocco
19. Favorite brand of clothing? I collect Betsey Johnson, and vintage Gunne Sax. Anything that has personality and lace.
20. What color is your bathroom? Lavender with pink tiles... I rent, ok? Not my choice.
21. Where would you go to retire to? Certainly not Florida
22. Favorite day of the week? Lazy Saturday... No doubt.
24. Where were you born? Manhattan, New York
25. Favorite sport to watch? I'm such a girl... Ice skating.
26. Who do you least expect to send this back to you? I hate answering this question.
27. Person you expect to send it back first? I hate answering this question, too.
28. What fabric detergent do you use? Coupons determine my choice.
29. Coke or Pepsi? I stopped drinking soda when I was 16. I'm a tea and juice girl.
30. Are you a morning person or a night owl? "night owl stuck in a morning person world" — Jezebel
31. What is your shoe size? 6 or 6.5 depending on the shoe
32. Do you have any pets? A rat named Katrina and a gerbil named Lowell. Priscilla the fancy mouse went to the next realm last week. (I am allergic to dogs and cats, but have this maternal instinct to care for something, so rodents it is!)

Just got a chance to glance at The Panic Channel site. Nice work. From a designer's standpoint, excellent! It's beeeeeyoooootiful, and clean (typographically), and easily navigable.

Thoroughly amusing to read the survey answers. Is it just me (and Dave), or does everyone get sick sometime in October, and hence, feel sorta crappy on Halloween? Ah, and thank you Steve for bringing me back to Disneyland at 11... I think I went on the Haunted Mansion ride 15 times. I'm from NY, and I haven't been back to DL since, but I think I may have decorated my living room from a mental picture of the ride in my head.

Hey everyone!

I found an interesting article online a few minutes ago. It's about a little girl who is, literally, unable to feel any sort of pain. It's a rare genetic disorder known as CIPA. No feeling of pain, whatsoever. For the formerly self destructive, this is something that may have seemed appealing years ago while in that point in our lives when we didn't want to feel any pain at all. But now, as most of us are in much healthier points in our lives...the notion of not being able to feel pain seems...well, painfull. It's sad to think that somebody lacks such an essential emotion that lets us know when something is wrong. It's very interesting, and a bit sad. There's only 24 people in the US that are known to have this genetic disorder. Here's the link if anyone wants to read about this in full:

http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/story.jsp?flok=ne-health-12-l14&flok=FF-APO-1500&idq=/ff/story/0001%2F20041101%2F1130503773.htm&sc=1500

Actually, darling PaMusician, the boys at TPC mimicked a survey sent to them by some of us. We are, in fact, the inspiration for their questionaires. I never received the version of the e-mail with the "craziest adolescent sexual experience" question, but had I, I would have to ponder this a bit... because I have a wealth of stories to choose from, and narrowing it down to one would feel unfair. But I was a problem child, sort of like an 80's version of the girls in the movie Thirteen. Juicy past, one might say... actually, many might say. Nah.... no stories for you. You're all gonna have to get to know me better for me to spread. I have, you see, learned from my past. :-)

Posted by: NightBird at November 1, 2004 04:36 PM

Nightbird, sounds like you lived enough for both of us... My mom did a good job scaring me into not having sex. Knowing that I had a huge adversion to pain (I was a big baby), she told me that sex was very painful and it would make me bleed. I could not be talked into having sex until I was almost 19. Mom didn't lie but she never said that eventually the pain would go away and that it would be fun!!!

~Melissa~

Posted by: Melissa at November 1, 2004 05:23 PM

Melissa.... Oh, my parents tried really hard to keep a leash on me. I am the offspring of an MIT-educated engineer and a librarian, so they were just screaming for a difficult child. Little did they know, they were gonna get two.... the prodigal son, my younger brother, who was, by far, worse than me, but schooled in covering things up. That boy owes me many thanks for paving the way. The moral of the story is, there is no formula for raising kids; you cannot raise a child by following the instructions of Dr. Spock. (Dr. Spock was a pediatrician who wrote a gazillion parenting books in the 60s and 70s. He is not to be confused with Mr. Spock, the Vulcan who traveled to the narrowest corners of the galaxy with Captain Kirk on Star Trek.)

I'm just glad for you that your mom's scare tactics didn't deter you all the way into your 20s. Enjoy what's human nature, sister! :-)

I also couldn't download the headers, the art OR much of anything else from the PC website.

I usually click & drag the images to my desktop with no problem. I'd like to be able to use them for the PC Agency Artwork I've been working on.

You were able to download the photos? I just double checked the site, I clicked on them, they still don't open to a larger size & I can't copy them.

I guess there's a reason why the site was designed that way. Dave already posted a few of those current photos here & they were 'download-able'. Everything at the new PC site is 'locked'.

take care,
itanja

Dave,
Do you have any favorite poems or poets?

Posted by: Casey at November 1, 2004 06:06 PM

Today's artwork has got to be one of my alltime favorites! Simply awesome! (Insert standing O here)

As far as the website, very, very cool! I echo the idea that the questionaire is a really nice touch. I'm still trying to figure out how to save pictures within macromedia flash though. "Right click-Save as" is not an option.

Anxiously awaiting more painc goodness &

Ok, I deserve a "Whoppish!" I missed Itanja's post just before mine with the same topic. Oops.

Hey Dave,

Congrats on such a huge year! Wow, a new wife, band, book & tv show. Not too shabby ;)

I'll spare you all the gushy 'how much I dig your music' stuff. Suffice to say that your work has always been a major source of inspiration, no matter whom you happen to be working with at any given time.

Here's my question:

Do you have any advice for an independent solo artist trying to get his music heard? I'm pretty business savvy, after 20 years playing in bands, but the whole indie/solo thing is new to me.

My plan is to build a sufficient audience to make music my full-time career by the time my 3rd album is released in 3-5 years. Maybe I'm smoking crack, but I really feel like it could happen if I'm smart about things along the way. Any suggestions?

Thanks and continued success.

Wishing you well,
Kevin

20. If you had one day to live, what would you do?
You're going to die! What are you going to do? I'm going to Disneyland! Seriously, I'd probably fly all of my family and friends in and go to Disneyland, get some on Pirates of the Carribean, take a night drive with the windows down and the music blasting.
21. Where would you go to retire to? It depends on where I spend the majority of my life, but I'd have to say San Francisco.
22. Favorite day of the week? Saturday
24. Where were you born? New York City
25. Favorite sport to watch? I used to watch ice hockey obsessively, but then again, that's when I played it.

Sleep, sweet sleep...

Hi Everybody - a word or two for anybody having trouble with the new site:

1. If you can't see the site at all (the whole site is in Flash) then download or re-download the Flash player.
http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/

2. Yes, its true - there is no right click and save as from Flash, but all the photo libraries should lead to pop up windows with regular jpgs. You should be able to get to any of the pics in their full size state... there seems to be a bug in IE - I am working on it...

Thanks Steve for getting back to us about the PC website~~!!

Is Flash the reason why I can't download the logos etc?

I'm a print graphic designer, I don't know anything about web design.

take care,

"Today's artwork has got to be one of my alltime favorites! Simply awesome! (Insert standing O here)"

Thank you, Deena! And thanks to Dave for posting it.

Honestly, I don't know if I would categorize anything that I've submitted as art, more like arts and crafts. It's really about the process for me: inspiration, conception, execution, revision, fruition.

I love the new site. Our patience and anticipation was well rewarded. It will be interesting to see how it develops and evolves over time. Although, I must say, I'm still a little surprised over the ouija board theme given the picture that I submitted (which was probably just a few hours before the launch).

Thanks again,

Sue (rambling Gemini)

Late breaking idea... custom printed guitar picks fashioned to look like ouija board planchettes. Complete with TPC's logo, naturally.

Great website dave!!! I was so excited to see it up and running today :)

Hello family! I thought I would check in before I go to bed. I had to work a double shift and me is very tired.

Love,
Karrie :)

I can't sleep again. This blows. Went to bed at 6 yesterday and had to wake up by 9 to go to work. I hope it's not a repeat again. I really wish my brother hadn’t brought the computer back home. I have no self control. Again, I love the website. It's so damn user friendly and visually stimulating.

The TPC site works for me - and....i can watch all the lovely pics in full size....very nice ones, really.

I sent my answers to some of you per mail today...i don't have all the email-addys here - i hope most of you get it.

Watched Rush in NEC on 30th anniversary tour, the only show since to come anywhere hear what JA gig was like. Perry was an awesome frontman that night, Hope Steve I can live up to who he is essentially replacing

heLLo,

Nice site from the TpC guys, huh?! Really nice work.
For all of you who have registered to the agency so far, don't get worried if you've not got any comfirmation yet. The whole is gonna start real soon, I passed on to Steve all the Agent details I have so far, and keep the list updated as soon as there's a new agent. I'll try to put an Agent NAME list on my site, so you guys can check wether you're correctly registered or not.
Yes I have your email about wondering if I did have your details, but if Im not replying means that everything is ok.

Enjoy the TpC,6767,S.Isaacs, and Perks Site as much as before!

Casey, interesting you asked "Dave,
Do you have any favorite poems or poets?

Posted by: Casey | November 1, 2004 06:06 PM"

Yesterday, when I saw the coffin pic on here, I thought I wonder if Dave likes Lord Byron? I meant to ask...so here goes..

Dave~Do you like Lord Byron's writings? His philosophy?

Thanks!
Lots of love Lisa xxxx

Dave~ A lot of people i have met, or know, and friends have told me over the years, that I should write a book. Their exact words; "You should write a book" :D
And then they say things like because "You've been through so much" "So much has happened to you." etc. Or even a few years ago, "Your life is like a soap opera" Oo It isn't much like one now though, and me being 'strange' I didn't get that comment at all. Thought it was "normal' my life. Okay, well I considered it for a while, because after a few things I dealt with in my life, and discovered, I knew I had something to say, and give back. One thing that concerns me however, is how my family would take it, and I am especially concerned about my son who is 14.
I'm in two minds about it. Tell an important story, with insights and knowledge that will help others (and they are big things which I know are important to society and people) or keep quiet for the sake of my son especially.
I would appreciate any advice, or thoughts you have on that matter?
Is going ahead and writing it without any thought that anyone else will read it, like it won't be published..(I mean I can't assume it will anyway), a good idea?

Thanks and love Lisa xxxx

Itanja and anyone else questioning why they couldn't view the images and other parts of the P.C. site: I think I figured it out. Go to: http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash and download for free. Save to desktop, then double click and run through the setup. Restart. NOW the whole site works just fine for me. I must have had an old version of macromedia flash and just didn't realize it.

Spreading a helpful hint,
Deena

Hey has anyone mentioned John Peel yet. After all he was the main man for Alternative Music in the UK. Without him most of the bands we know and love wouldn't have gotten any airplay and the band would still be on the dole or working in an obscure job.

Good Morning Dave and Family!

I've just been listening to Shoot and looking at the new TPC site...I love it! Very, very nice work, Steve.

I know there may be issues that make it impossible; but it would be so awesome if Shoot could be a bonus or hidden trak on the TPC cd....may have Dave and/or TPC add a bit to it...it's such a great effort...more people need to hear it! :D

Any...off to see what sounds Steve has for us on the TPC site...Happy Tuesday, all!

KYLE----ok, 1. go to www.msn.com 2. type panic channel in search. 3. click on link to the panic channel.

MY FELLOW AMERICANS---(in my best Tricky Dick voice)
Do not let long lines at polls dissuade you!!! Vote, please! and one more thing, don't be too sure about electronic voting, I know we are all in the computer age and all, but there is NO PAPER TRAIL to fall back on if system fails, you can choose to vote on paper ballot still, there is a number on ballot stub you can call to make sure they counted your vote....just do it...
