Sunday

67panicace

Last night's CFR was quite interesting. We had a lot of fun, but the subject matter took an odd turn when a caller questioned the seriousness of sex tourism in other countries. This spun into a discussion about molestation and children's rights, in a round about way. It got kind of dark and I questioned weather or not the show was the right place to get into this. Ultimately, we got into it as this is an issue we all feel so strongly about and it prompted another caller to share her experiences of being molested when she was young and how it affected her. If you are reading this, we really appreciate your honesty and courage to call in.

We also had Simara Rose from the band, Starlit call in for a few moments. What a treat. We played a track called Muther off her upcoming CD. There is something so sexy about a beautiful woman who is that aggro in her music, but sweet as hell in person.

1. Dave do dentists freak you out?

No, not at all. I don't know how, but I have never had a cavity.

2. What's it like playing alongside Clara's band? Is there kind of a proud uncle vibe from you?

Totally!

3. Dave...just wondering if you'd ever consider a Camp Freddy tour?

We for sure would, the only problem is getting all the guests to be able to do it too. That is one reason why all the shows are so sporadic and usually on a coast. Scheduling so many guests is kind of hard to juggle.

4. Dave-i just heard a track called We Fall,We Fall by Dead Celebrity Status with yourself and Perk, when did ya do that?

We did that a few months ago when we were doing some demos with producer Danny Saber.

5. Dave, cheesy question number two, Who was the first 'celebrity' you ever met?

Gene Wilder

OK. Rehearsal time,

Dave

Hey Dave,

Yeh I had no cavaties either, then they tell me I need all four of my wisdoms out I remember my phobia started about that second!

Itjana (hope I spell your name correctly) Yeh Jools has been such a musical influence throughout my youth as he used to do a show called The Tube with Paula Yates years back excellent show where I first saw a very young group called U2 I'll never forget that.
Like the late and great John Peel he has brought so much musical talent to the fore that would never usually get airplay on national tv.

Gene Wilder ROCKS!!! The original Willy Wonka!! And for all my ladies that were at the Dragonfly, Simara was the girl standing next to me that I posted about earlier, you know, the one that looked like what a 'jezebel' should look like. I had the chance to talk to her, she is uber-sweet and kind, I took a few pics of her, but they don't do her justice. She asked me who the singer was, she really was digging the vocals....

ooooh, another brush with greatness from that night, much cooler than the Courtney Love bathroom encounter...

So, I should be working on final draft of thesis, but I am Sam just came on, going to watch it for the trillionth time...

ok, Jezzi's question for my family...
David Letterman used to have this routine called "brush with greatness" where people in the audience would recall random encounters with celebrities, I once scooped ice cream for Rick Monday of the Dodgers, helped the guy from That's my Mama find film for his camera, screamed so loud at Dave Winfield that he tipped his cap to me, and got Sammy Hagar to blow me a kiss....my bro helped a stranded motorist that turned out to be Billy Idol....come on guys, tell us your stories

jezebel(places I remember IN MY LIFE)

hey dave! just seeing whats going on with you, you seem to be quite busy as of late! 2 bands, a dvd, and a signature guitar coming out...not to mention the radio gig and just coming off the book tour (which i didnt get to go to in ny, but read the book and throughly enjoyed its honesty). just a couple quick questions that you have probably heard a ba-jillion times

1) when is your guitar coming out? do you know how much it will be?

2) when is the dvd coming out? any special features we can look forward to?

3) ever think of doing any camp freddy stuff with ben folds? im thinking "saturday night's alright for fightin'" by elton john...

4)and finally just off the top of my head, what do you think of the eels? if you have never heard of them, "electro shock blues" is THE most under rated album of all time, and you should get it!

to jezebel, i have met ministry, better than ezra, AAF, ben folds E from the eels, jimmy eat world, veruca salt, H I M, twisted sister, sebastian bach, nikki sixx, ian astbury and the remaining doors, not too mention mr. navarro on 2 seperate occasions....the second time dave gave tix to see janes on the opening night of the jubilee tour in 2001. hands down best show ever. man am i going on here! later!

Dave, are your Sunday afternoons ever spent watching football all day? Or for that matter, do you watch sports at all?

Posted by: americanzer0 at November 21, 2004 11:36 AM

Hey Dave! I have a stupid question: did you know Perk played drums on Nine Inch Nails' "I Do Not Want This" from The Downward Spiral? I'd think so, but I was curious. What do you think? I know you've mentioned NIN in good light, and actually I think I recalled Trent mentioning you a couple times. I do remember the Guitar World interview that had you and Trent and somebody else on the phone. Remember that?

I haven't checked yesterday's posts yet, but welcome back Jezebel! You were missed.

Dave, I think it's funny that Gene Wilder was the first celebrity you've met, as it reminds me of a story.

A few months ago I was telling my ex-boyfriend how hot Gene Wilder was in Willy Wonka, and he dismissed me as crazy. A few minutes later I was watching a show on MTV where Carmen was at a video store and she said the same exact thing! It was nice to have Carmen "back me up." I'm not surprised we share the same taste, at least in two men :)

I used to work security at a local auditorium venue. Rod Stewart played, and I drew the backstage assignment.
Before the show, Rod walked by, gave everyone a quick nod and went straight to his dressing room. Well, shortly thereafter, this woman comes down the corridor, which was supposed to have been blocked off, in her motorized wheelchair. She could only move 3 fingers of her right hand, and she was alone. I started to ask for credentials, as I was supposed to do (hey, it was my job, don't jump on me) and one of Stewarts' people walked up. She pled her case, and the guy said, of course, come on back! She moved her chair to Stewarts' room, and in she went! They moved her up to the wings for the show, and afterward, Stewart comes off stage, hands her his towel and a signed soccer ball, leans over and kisses her, for a real long time. He then arranged for her to meet her party and we walked her up. I thought that the whole scene was really touching, and showed what a class act Rod is, or was in this particular encounter. Oh, and I met Barney Miller in NYC (couldn't think of his name, I just said, "Hey, you're Barney Miller!). Stevie Ray Vaughn, all of STP, all of Lynerd Skynerd-before the crash, Jacob Dylan, Steven Tyler, Rick Nielsen, Melissa Auf DeMar, Sammy Hagar, John Cassavetes, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Billy Corgan, James Iha. And of course, Mr. Navarro. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Oh, forgot one, I got really drunk with Ronnie Wood once, but that's a whole nuther story. :)

Hi Kirsty,

That's okay Kirsty, no one gets it right....it's NOT my real name anyway! lol

I'm a bit of an Anglophile having grown up with my dad being a big Peter Sellers & Spike Milligan fan (The Goons!) and watching all the old British comedys & movies on Saturday afternoon TV here in New York.

So, I naturally gravitated towards listening to British rock & pop music because that's what my parents were listening to when I was a small kid...The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks etc. Sure they also listened to American pop/rock, but the pop music was all about the Brit influence when I was growing up. Hey, even Hendrix had to go to England to become a superstar!

Yes, I remember Paula Yates, I have her book called 'Blondes', she was always in the NME, Smash Hits & Melody Maker. She was the woman who had a few children with Bob Geldolf & M. Hutchence, correct? It was so sad when she committed suicide after being depressed about Hutchence's death.

I'll email you some of my photos of U2 & Jools, I'll have to scan them, they are prints, no digital cameras back when I took them! I even have pics of Adam & the Ants! They put on some great shows here in NYC, one was in the pouring rain, but they kept on playing! Dave playing Adam last night on the CF show got me thinking about him.

Btw, U2 were excellent last night on 'Saturday Night Live', they did 3 songs & were going to do a 4th...I'm sure the studio audience got to hear that, unfortunately the NBC affliates cut the show off because it was officially over at 1AM!

They performed 2 tracks from their new album as well as "I Will Follow". They still have it!!

Bono made a point of screaming over & over again that they were perforimg LIVE, after that Ashlee Simpson lip-synching joke a few weeks ago (performnig with her taped vocals & being found out. LOL This seems to be the current state of pop music these days, gimmicky no talents becoming stars) .....Bono made a point of basically telling the world there were no backing vocal tapes last night!

These guys have been performing since they were teens, if they haven't got their act together at this point & needed to using backing tapes, they shouldn't be in the business! I like my rock music to be real, even if that means the band is going to make some mistakes, if I want to see a robotic lip synching Las Vegas act (Britney Spears, Madonna etc...lol), I'll go to Vegas.

take care,
itanja

hey justin, that interview with dave and trent also featured paul leary of the butthole surfers. i am just filled with useless information like that, dave probably wont remember but there was a radio show in hartford that i was at and like the ass that i am i kept answering all the trivia questions the audience kept coming up with before dave could...i am a dork. hahahhahah

I definitely want to see them on their tour, it would be cool if we met up and could defintiely go together. Speaking of meeting famous people, don't you guys find that they are just like the rest of us? I'd mention some I've met, but they were just random weirdos like the rest of us so there's really nothing much to talk about. I'd like to meet Trent Reznor, though. And Dave, of course :p

Hope yer all well!

Hey Dave,

I had the honor of seeing you play at the 97' Janes Halloween show in NYC at the Hammerstein Ball Room. It was such a magical night! There a few girls sitting next to me crying with joy as Perry climbed the tower to sing "Summertime Rolls". Are you and Perry still good friends, and would you ever consider making music with him again?

Hi Hector,

I'll email you, so we can catch up. How are you doing?

U2 were on SNL last night, I saw them on TV, I wasn't there. I did see them live about 3 times in the 1980s.

I've been kind of wrapped up with my moms eye surgery for the past 2 weeks, so I haven't been here as often I used to be. She has 'macular degeneration', she still hasn't shown much improvement after getting surgery almost 2 weeks ago.

I am shocked at how positive she has been throughout, still doing things around her apartment etc. It's got to be annoying & scary not being able to see properly. She is very independent. I'd be a basket case. She faces the prospect of not being able to see the same again, that is damn scary.

I think the laser surgery she's had is experimental, of course, the eye surgeon was sort of vague about this. He'll be getting a call from me tomorrow morning!

take care,
itanja

Ditto... Happy Anniversary! :) Have fun celebrating, however you and Carmen choose to do so. We'll totally understand if you're not around for the next few days...

I hope everyone is well. I don't have too much to say today (for once). I'm just working on updating my resume, applying some pointers I'm learning in a job-hunting workshop. Such excitement!

Don't you just LOVE trying to sum up all that you are, all that you've done, and all that you can do, onto one or two stupid pieces of paper? And have that document represent you as a person? I honestly hate it, but it's all part of the game, I suppose.

I'm off to drink a cup of coffee to help myself get motivated to write all this "corporate" B.S.

Regards,
-Denise

oh man, I knew I was going to miss something good on Camp Freddy radio.. I'm glad those issues were brought up. One of the great things about the show is that it's about anything and everything.
As far as sex tourism goes that is something that I just can't beleive and pisses me off. The worst thing is the young girls from Russia and eastern europe smuggled away from their homes into a life of prostitution and degradation. During the time I lived in Serbia there were these 2 foreign girls working as prostitutes in one of the appartments on the bottom floor of the building we lived in. I would see them out on the streets some nights and most nights they'd have an array of men coming through, one of which I saw visiting weekly. They must have been in their late teens, I doubt they were over 20. They didn't associate with any of the other tenants in the building and nobody had any clue what language they spoke, but we knew it wasn't Serbian. I tried to talk to them a few times when I'd see them entering or exiting the building but they'd just retreat back into their appartment or walk off. They didn't seem like they were being treated badly or anything, although at times they seemed really poor by the way they were dressed. It was the type of thing you'd want to report to the police or something, but the thing is that law enforcement officials are the major ringleaders in the human (and drug) trafikking. Sex for money is legal in Belgrade.

sorry for such a long rant, the CFR topic mentioned brought me back.

Maria

Posted by: mortisha8 at November 21, 2004 04:05 PM

well I should say sexual services are viewed as a legitimate business in Belgrade... not sure about other parts of Serbia or if that has changed since I was there last year.

Posted by: mortisha8 at November 21, 2004 04:12 PM

RE: The sex tourism thing - I don't know that much about this subject, but I guess that's capitalism for ya. It's kinda sad but true: Most of us have to whore ourselves out in one way or another in order to get by.

Posted by: Denise at November 21, 2004 04:28 PM

Sexual tourism is nothing new, in fact, it was one of the major factors leading to the spread of AIDS from third world countries to the United States. And the indentured servant sex trade is not limited to overseas, it is happening right here, right now, in the United States. Illegal immigrants who are smuggled into this country by coyotes who take their payment from them by selling them into prostitution. What is new, and what Dave was referring to last night, is the fact that gains are being made in the way these pervs are prosecuted. In the case he was talking about, the man was arrested BEFORE he committed the act, which was going to another country, armed with candy as his treat for the opportunity to have sex with 9 and 10 year old CHILDREN!!!

I understood what the caller was trying to do, can we equate intent to commit a criminal act with an act itself, more so, in the age of the internet, is conversation to be prosecuted as well. She brought up a book written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez "Love in the time of Cholera" in which there is a loving relationship between an 86 year old man and a 12 year old girl. I guess she could have just as well brought up Lolita or Jerry Lee Lewis...it's not the same, and other countries social mores are not the same, nor are they a justification or a defense for the sexploitation of minors..

Sam, what a brave girl you are, I was shaking right along with you last night. How true your words of advice were..
Tell someone, anyone that will listen, if anyone has ever treated your body in a way that made you feel uncomfortable. That is wrong. Period.

wow, the preceding was jezebel's political rant du jour...
love to the happy couple,

Dave~Have you meet that guy Dennis Pennis?
They're repeating his silly shows here, and he was in LA, chatting a bit to Drew Barrymore, and Courtney Love. Courtney was very cute and funny. She slapped him. :D Lol.

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 05:00 PM

Jezebel - Thanx for the explanation. The exploitation of children... and anyone, for that matter... is so tragic and disturbing. It makes me thankful to have been born in a highly developed country such as the US.

Don't get me wrong. I've encountered a fair share of creepy/pervy people throughout my life. (I won't get into details now.) But fortunately I was able to avoid them once I realized their agendas. Not everyone can, and my heart truly goes out to those victims. Or, should I say, SURVIVORS.

Posted by: Denise at November 21, 2004 05:14 PM

"I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of here" just started today. Already. John Lydon was in the last one, so I was glued to it. No one like that this time.
Except "Huggy Bear" :O Whoa! Antonio Fargas in the jungle. Damn, I might get glued to it again. Help!!!

Dave~Would you ever be in a show like that? I mean hey, John Lydon did it!

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 05:35 PM

Are you guys actually claiming that stuff doesn't happen in the US? Asking this politely, because it must do, and surely does. Plus, have any of you been to these other countries that you say participate in this "sexual tourism"?
Aren't those things set up for US tourists? Would they exist without US tourism?
Okay..I am just putting forth some questions to think about..that's all.
And also
Isn't prostitution legal in Nevada?

Wierd and wacky world...

Damn, I try not to get into these kind of discussions, because I rant about them.

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 05:42 PM

bettina- I've know about chappman stick for several years now. check out tony levins work with it. amazing.

as per jezzi's question about famous people, I'm not up for going into the whole list right now but, someone mentioned how they are regular people so....
a few years back when KISS reunited I got the chance to meet Paul Stanley, he was at the top of his game, but he was so cool and took time with every person to answer questions and take pics. he really made you feel special. The same day I met Steven Stills from Crosby, Stills, Nash, amd Young. mabey he was having a bad day, but for a guy who wasn't at the top of his game he was a total Dick.

on our political rant today, has anyone seen the movie "Capturing the Friedmans"

"Tell someone, anyone that will listen, if anyone has ever treated your body in a way that made you feel uncomfortable. That is wrong. Period."

Amen to that. Doing something like that to a child is beyond sick. Once someone is molested or raped they are never the same afterwards. They have trouble keeping relationships because of the fear of intimacy.
My mom was raped by one of my dad's relatives some time after she had my sister. I only learned this just last year. I knew she had an abortion before me, but I never knew all that was behind it. Needless to say the news was quite a shock to me.. it's not something you'd ever wish to hear happened to your mother.

Lisa, I did state clearly in my post that this IS happening in the US, didn't I...as far as prostitution being legal in Nevada, it certainly isn't legal with CHILDREN, which is what this is all about...I can't speak for any country but my own, and I didn't...

I was also into U2 back then 1980 or 81?, but sort of don't feel the same passion for them anymore. :/ oh well.

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 05:56 PM

Jez, was just a general questions, not just towards you..

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 05:57 PM

Also, I am certain almost every female, maybe every guy on here, has some story to tell, where they've been "victimised", abused..whatever you want to call it.

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 06:00 PM

Lisa - I couldn't listen to CFR last night, so again, I fully admit that I don't know the whole story. I was just saying that most of us are lucky to live in countries where we're usually not FORCED into that situation.

Prostitution in Nevada, whether one agrees with it or not, is a business transaction between two (or more) consenting adults. That's something else altogether. I'm just saying that we're fortunate to have the CHOICE to pursue or not to pursue that line of work.

That's all!

Posted by: Denise at November 21, 2004 06:04 PM

On a lighter note, speaking of celebrity encounters, Dave is my first one.

But I used to see some celebrities on the streets on NYC, when I used to work there a few years ago. Let me think...

- Ethan Hawke (looking AWFUL)
- Simon Rex
- Rebecca Gayheart
- David Johannsen (aka Buster Poindexter) out of character
- A whole slew of models whose names escape me

When I visited LA a few years ago, I'd hoped to have a Dave sighting, but instead saw a few other folks.

- Tom Morello from Rage
- Lenny Kravitz
- Jared Leto
and, coincidentally (this being a Dave site), I saw Angelyne's hot pink car cruising down the streets of Beverly Hills. It may have been the day that Dave interviewed her!

Posted by: Denise at November 21, 2004 06:12 PM

But, you could say that the sex tourism trade for children is a "business" as well.
This is a tough subject. That's really why I didn't want to get way into it.

One thing that pisses me off personally, is both the UK, and the USA, have a tendency to point fingers at other people, and say "look at the terrible things those people do", and do nothing about the situations in their own countries; or won't even admit there are those problems in their own countries.

I've lived for a long time in both the US, and the UK. The media of both do that.

There's no admission for instance, that there are people in the UK or the USA that are starving. I'm not saying don't help others. I just get ticked off about overlooking stuff that's going on in one's own close area, one's own neighbourhood.

That's my own take on it, and I'm not dissing anyone's opinion on here at all.
I'm totally open to knowing more, and what people think, and have experienced.

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 06:15 PM

Holy Shit, Denise, you just reminded me! I saw Andy Warhol in NYC!!! My jaw dropped. :O
I thought I was seeing things at first.

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 06:17 PM

"Consenting adults" is the key to what I was saying.

On that note, I'm respectfully sitting this one out. :)

Posted by: Denise at November 21, 2004 06:19 PM

Okay, fine, but I am not entirely certain all of the people that become prostitutes there are "consenting" or even adults for that matter.

So. I will also end it.

Posted by: ylais at November 21, 2004 06:21 PM

One last thing:

"I am not entirely certain all of the people that become prostitutes there are "consenting" or even adults for that matter."

Precisely.

Posted by: Denise at November 21, 2004 06:24 PM

Jez, I don't look at it as being brave, I was shaking because I was so nervous about talking about it on national radio, but I think that lady needed to realize it wasn't ok. 5 years ago I would have never of done it, but now I'm at a point in my life were i'm secure about what happened in my past. But I'm 20 now and doing 100% better. With a great boyfriend and two years away from having a degree in child psychology. I survived.

as for celebrity encounters...well...i'm not big on the celebrity hounding as i feel they prob want to be left alone...so Dave in NYC at the book signing was my first celebrity encounter...and a damn amazing one (thanks dave for being so nice)...i haven't met any other celebrities which is sad lol...but my dad's first cousin is Jerry Weintraub who produced Ocean's Eleven and the Karate Kid movies, among others i'm sure...i've never met him though as he lives in LA and i don't lol...that's my story lol...much love to all

My first brush with a celebrity wasn't actually real at all. When I was about 7 years old, I was a big fan of Donny Osmond. At the time, (like, 1977 or so), he was the bomb. I wrote him a letter telling him how his purple socks rocked my world and how he was my favorite person ever. Well, a little time passed, and he wrote me back, saying how I sounded like a nice little girl and how he was glad his show made me feel happy. I treasured it. I taped it to the wall in my room. Shortly after, as expected, my crush on Donny Osmond faded.

When I was about 18, I was sitting down with my mom one day and mentioned, "Hey! Remember when Donny Osmond wrote me that letter?" She replied, "You still believe that? Donny never sent it to you. I sent it because I just wanted to make all your dreams come true." Instead, I felt kind of betrayed and let down. Not like I gave a hoot about Donny Osmond at that point, but it was the principle. I spent 10 years believing a lie.

So Dave, I really get that whole "turtle heaven" thing...

Spreading the love,
Deena

I have an idea for those in LA going to the Dec 2nd show.

There's about 10 of us on here or so that are going, right? We should try to collectively gather 103 cans... if we each bring 10 that could work. I'm not going to feel right bringing just one.

Dave do you know if we can bring dry food that isn't in cans, like Raman noodles or something or does it have to be canned?

Deena - What a story! That sounds exactly like something my own mother would've done. They mean well, but just don't "get it" sometimes.

Hi Lisa,

Yes, that Ants show was at the Pier.

I think WNEW was the sponsor, they used to give out buttons & stickers at all the shows they held there. Because the concerts were first come, first serve, we had to wait on line all day to get the good seats! Of course, I would never do that anymore! lol

I also saw the Ants at The Ritz in the Village & at some venue on Long Island, I think it was The Calderone.

I went to all their shows with a close friend who was an Adam fanatic, so we went 2 days in a row to the Pier shows! Thankfully, it didn't rain both days.

I got some great photos, though I don't think I took any on the rainy day.

take care,
itanja

Hey Dave. Just got done with your book. What a great book for anyone to read, but especially someone with any sort of addiction. It really sheds some light on self perception.

Hey Dave! Happy Anniversary to you and Carmen for the 22nd! Here's to many more!

Posted by: Amara at November 21, 2004 08:18 PM

hello all...I've been lurking for the past few weeks and wasn't going to post anything quite yet. I was from the by-gone era of baby unicorns and spread and life got in the way. I'm glad to see that Dave has gotten his community back together. I enjoyed all the people that I met through Dave a few years ago and am thrilled to see that the same bright and beautiful souls have gathered on his blog once again! I hope that I can join you all again even though you've already established a family :) Anyway the reason I decided to post is because I was moved by the comments made about the sex trade industry. I currently work as a rape crisis counselor and I hear story after horrible story from some really brave women and children. I'm glad that Dave has created a space where people can discuss these issues.

Welcome, Natalie! I think what you're doing is wonderful, and I give you a lot of credit.

Looking forward to having you around. :)

Good night,
-Denise

Hey everyone!!!
So Dave, I have a really strange question- but if you could answer it, it would actually help me out in my career... What I wonder is, where did you find your stylist? I am at the moment working as a stylist in London, moved here from Sweden a couple of months ago. I'm not inspired here and I'm considering moving to LA and trying to become a personal stylist. Did you get yours (forgot her name!) through som kind of agency or where you familiar with her for some other reason from the past and stuff?
Take care everyone!!

Happy Anniversary Dave & Carmen!

Here's to many, many more~!!

I'd have a 'toast' in your honour, but since it's only 8:16AM, it'll have to be of the bread variety!

Love & All the Best,

Met Eric Clapton a few times (I work for him), went to a bbq at his house last year, Ringo Starr was there that was surreal.

Happy Anniversary DAVE & CARMEN!!

Love,

Re: Chapman Stick, weird but awesome instrument! Best use of it seen live: (come to think of it, only use of it seen live but it would’ve been best anyway…) John Paul Jones at Irving Plaza, March 2000…that man is UNBELIEVABLE!!! What an awesome musician. But he was too shy to sing, so the crowd sang all the Zeppelin songs for him. Irving Plaza has such great memories, JPJ and Camp Freddy being my favorites.

I know Blondimofo goes to school out here on the Island, Denise do you live here? Anyone out here (I’m pretty sure the signal doesn’t even reach NYC for that station), have you heard the morning radio show with Amy Fisher (yes, THAT Amy Fisher from the Joey Buttafuoco mess)? WTF? How does shooting a woman in the face parlay itself into a radio show? Sorry, no one is bigger on giving second chances than I am, but I just don’t get that. Accountability, anyone? Dave, what do you think?

Hey, Jez, like the star sighting question. I have met many through my dad's catering business - used to feed alot. But one story in particular had nothing to do with food. I went to see Barbara Mandrell in concert and waited to get her autograph. There were about 50 or 60 of us still around the stage - I was still about 15 feet from her - when she pointed to me and asked me my name. I could have dropped over. She told me I had the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen and wondered if I would give them to her because she could use them in her business. I was 17 years old with such an inferiority complex that this just gave me such a boost. About 5 years later, STAR posted my story of my meeting and I was able to give a copy of the article to her sister Louise, whom I did feed! Also, the live album she did in Nashville, I was there and I can be heard screaming "Give it all you got" during one of the songs - that was in homage to Chuck Magione.

A good friend of Ozzy's is a good friend of mine. And when KISS came to Pittsburgh in 1996, Metallica showed up in the light booth. If I had told my dad I was going to the concert, I could have met them and gotten a backstage pass as a very good friend of my dad's was working for them. He showed up at my dad's the day before the concert to visit - I wish I had told my dad!

When I was an entertainer reporter for a school newspaper, I got to interview actors and actresses and local bands. . . One of my earlier posts said I was good friends with Captian California (that would be Chris Hensel who went on to be a replacement on The Dukes of Hazard) and the former Pizza Hut/Hundyia spokesman, Fred McCarren, was my first in depth interview!

HEY DAVE,

Let's say you're writing "Don't Try This At Home : Part 2"

What is the first chapter called, and what is the first deep thought?
