N1

dave_spread_iconSo back to rehearsals yesterday. We have started putting together N1 from Project P yesterday. We are hoping to have it together for the 2nd and it is looking good. By the way, Billy, Dono and I will be doing a live broadcast from the Key Club on Thursday before the show. I think it is going to happen from six to seven, backstage. An unusual CFR time for us. Should be fun. I only wish we had phones back there. For those of you who asked, our friend's little puppy is doing good. She is recovering from a severe case of hypothermia.

Still Feels Like Sunday

dave_spread_icon1. How do you handle a situation where you have a woman's name tattooed on you that you're no longer with, especially when you start seeing someone else? Have you found that the next person you're with expected you to do the same for them?

The way I look at it is this. My artwork is kind of like a diary. Memories, experiences, etc. I actually have 3 ex's on my body. It's all good. I still care for them and value the time I had with them. I'm not one to cover up as doing so wouldn't make the past go away. My wife is totally cool with it all. Frankly, these are all times before I even knew her, so why would I cover something in case I met someone who was too sensitive to handle it? Fortunately she isn't. I say, don't trip. Sounds cold, but it really isn't your problem. You are who you are and have done the things you have done and been where you have been. A cover won't change that. As for the next person's expectations? Once again, that is on them, not you. I hate to sound like I'm suggesting that you take the position of, "get over it" or "learn to deal", but that is exactly what I am saying.

2. could anyone help me out? for a while... I've wanted to play guitar.... electric. but then now, my parents have finally agreed to get me one. but yesterday... i couldn't choose between acoustic or electric... because the acoustic is much cheaper and yah... i dont know which one i should get. do you know which is easier to learn on? and if i learn to play acoustic, would i be able to play electric and vice versa? thanks....

The acoustic is always a reliable go anywhere vibe. Also a great educator. If cost is a factor, go acoustic. If you can afford the electric and an amp, I'd go electric, it is simply more "fun". You can definitely learn on both and swap whenever you want. If you go acoustic and you don't take to it, you might find yourself out less money than if you don't take to the electric style. If you go acoustic, make sure the "action" is comfortable for you. (The space between the strings and the fret board.) The store should be able to help you out with this. Also, start out with a lighter gauge string. Good luck and happy hunting.

Last night we had so much fun on CFR. It was great to have Matt back in the studio with us. We spoke to Simara who is now our official traffic girl and Carmen who still does the weather. We gave out some tickets to the December 2nd show, which is in four days.

The boys come home today. Rehearsal tomorrow. Thank God.

CFR Saturday

dave_spread_iconCFR tonight! Billy, Dono and I will be in the studio. I think we will be giving away some tickets to the December 2nd show featuring Doheny, The Tints and The Panic Channel. I plan to play some more Starlit on the show. I may even try to get Simara on the phone again as she is so good with the words. I rented an amazing documentary last night called, The Hunting of the President. Check it out if you haven't yet. Really compelling stuff about the Clinton administration and the attempt to bring it down. The best part for me was in the special features when Clinton responds to the film after a screening. What an amazing guy. You know, I'm not much for politics but he really is an amazing speaker and presence. I met him once with Carmen at the Democratic National Convention and he was nothing short of totally charismatic. Anyway, I enjoyed the film.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and have a wonderful weekend.

Feelin Like A Monday

Stairs1. If I were to sit and write some stuff, should I keep it to myself? Should I send it to someone? I mean i could write and write, but what good does it do me if I don't share it? Any thought?

That is kind of a personal decision. Some people like to share, others don't. It sounds like you do as you are asking, so I say, why not? Go for it.

2. Are you a vegetarian?

No. I used to be. I eat chicken and fish, but no red meat or pork.

3. Happy thanksgiving... while doing my daily DN memoriblia search I came accross this... is it really yours?

I don't remember that guitar. It kind of looks like the one from the Warped video but I am not certain. The signatures appear to be authentic. It's quite possible.

4. DAVE!!! ok, CSI boy, what has changed in your perspective since watching all those crime dramas and cases....does it sharpen an already suspicious nature, or are you more careful when you go out in public not to leave any water bottles behind...?

Just find them interesting. As for the bottles, I couldn't care less as I don't plan on killing anyone.

5. Dave- do you cook or does Carmen??

We had two really great friends, Amy and Sugar, cook up an amazing spread for about 16 people last night. Thanx again girls!

Justice

Just1My wife is working on a show called, Summerland. It's quiet. I was supposed to do a session with Tommy Lee tonight, but that got pushed back till December. There is literally nothing to report. I am looking forward to tomorrow. I'm doing two Thanksgivings. One with the family and one here at home. I am going to take advantage of this time and catch up on all the true crime and forensic shows I have saved on TiVo. You know, use my time wisely. I could also use the day to stay glued to Court TV. They always run that ticker tape info thing at the bottom of the screen. Kind of irritating. Amber Frey does have good hair. Much better since the make over.

6:30AM

Norman_ouijaThank you all for the well wishes and the poems. (I don't hate poems) We had a beautiful day yesterday and last night. Earlier in the day, I took some photos of a Suicide Girl friend of mine that should be up on the site by January. Later, Carmen and I had a nice dinner out, just the two of us, followed by some nice alone time. I am actually off until Monday, so I am kind of tripping. I don't really know what to do with free time. We have a trip to Hawaii planned for later in the season, so I am really looking forward to that. Somehow, I have no problem with free time away from home. I hope you are well. I am.

Sunday

67panicace

Last night's CFR was quite interesting. We had a lot of fun, but the subject matter took an odd turn when a caller questioned the seriousness of sex tourism in other countries. This spun into a discussion about molestation and children's rights, in a round about way. It got kind of dark and I questioned weather or not the show was the right place to get into this. Ultimately, we got into it as this is an issue we all feel so strongly about and it prompted another caller to share her experiences of being molested when she was young and how it affected her. If you are reading this, we really appreciate your honesty and courage to call in.

We also had Simara Rose from the band, Starlit call in for a few moments. What a treat. We played a track called Muther off her upcoming CD. There is something so sexy about a beautiful woman who is that aggro in her music, but sweet as hell in person.

1. Dave do dentists freak you out?

No, not at all. I don't know how, but I have never had a cavity.

2. What's it like playing alongside Clara's band? Is there kind of a proud uncle vibe from you?

Totally!

3. Dave...just wondering if you'd ever consider a Camp Freddy tour?

We for sure would, the only problem is getting all the guests to be able to do it too. That is one reason why all the shows are so sporadic and usually on a coast. Scheduling so many guests is kind of hard to juggle.

4. Dave-i just heard a track called We Fall,We Fall by Dead Celebrity Status with yourself and Perk, when did ya do that?

We did that a few months ago when we were doing some demos with producer Danny Saber.

5. Dave, cheesy question number two, Who was the first 'celebrity' you ever met?

Gene Wilder

OK. Rehearsal time,

Dave

CFR & 12/2

OpendoorCFR: Tonight, Billy Morrison is out sick, so no sexy English tones from Mr. Morrison. I will be there and I am hoping that Matt and Dono will be in too. Feel better Billy! I will miss your wit and accent which always provide a flair of professionalism and legitimacy on the air.

TPC/Doheney/The Tints - Dec. 2nd, Key Club, Hollywood: Advance tickets are available for $10.31 at the box office. You can still get in for $1.03 with a can of food for the homeless on the day of the show.

Chaney

100_29451. Have you ever played with Rob Lamothe or Stevie Salas ?

No, never have.

2. Dave, I was wondering, are you still on methadone in place of heroin?

God no! That stuff is pure evil. It was invented by the Nazis to get the Jews all strung out and force them to work harder. If they didn't work, they wouldn't get their dose and become extremely ill. That's the story, anyway. It is actually much harder to get off of than heroin. When I stopped using it back in the 90's, it took me six months before I started to feel better. My humble advice, avoid it at all costs.

3. I got the alanis morissette cd and eric doesn't play bass on it. Is he just a live bassist or does he write on any of her albums???

I really don't know for sure. I do know he tours with her, but I have never bought an Alanis album so I don't know if he records with her.

4. Dave any news on when the Camp Freddy album is gonna be out?

That is hard to say. All of the basic tracks are done but scheduling all the guests is tricky. The record keeps evolving and it takes time. I know that recently, Chad Smith, Jerry Cantrell, Billy Duffy and Macy Gray have contributed.

5. Dave I was just wondering if you keep in touch or know how rhian and monet (ur ex's) r doin?

I speak to Monet from time to time and she is kicking ass. Always working on some film. She is doing great. Rhian, on the other hand I have not spoken to in a while, but she is very sweet and I am sure she is doing well.

6. What have happened to that beautiful moment of "Go On" - in 2.28 min of the song. Your little riff? That amazing moment is no longer in that Oct. 16th version? Why?

I am not sure I know exactly what you are talking about. It should be the same...

7. Does anyone know Dave's specific workout plan or how to get in touch with his personal trainer, William Thompson? Any information on what Dave does when he works out is greatly appreciated.

I try to mix it up. Cardio, light weights and yoga. I try to spend no less than an hour in the gym a day, but no more than that either. If time doesn't permit, I do what I can. 20 minutes, half an hour... something is better than nothing.

8. Dave - What was that mahvelous shade of eye shadow you were wearing at the TPC show tuesday night? A girl's gotta know!

I don't know. I kind of just grab whatever is around and use that. Later, Riss applied some stuff on top of what I had done. It's just some type of mixed medium... I use NARS black sparkle eyeliner, any mascara (water proof to avoid running into my eyes from sweat), MAC C4 powder and MAC NC35 cover up. Eye shadow is a mystery. I just rummage through Carmen's stuff till I like something.

9. Dave...what would your "perfect Christmas" be like?

I'm easy. Snow would be nice. I have never had a Christmas in the snow.

10. Mornin Dave, what's the most amazing thing you've ever seen?

This.

Dave

Saw a lot of 67's at the show. Really nice to see all of you. Got my TPC pin! We had a great time. I quickly saw Rantz but never saw him again. Sorry I missed you man. It was great to do the Dragonfly again, but we are super excited to play with Doheney and The Tints on December 2nd at the Key Club. All ages too. After the show, Steve I, Riss and I went to The Rainbow for a little Sunday style throw down with my friend Greg. That place is such a trip. A lot of fun. If you aren't from L.A. and come here to visit, make sure you drop by. The pizza is damn good, son! The rest of this month is all about writing and working out "bugs" for the December show. Hope you can make it. Thank you for all the positive feedback tonight and for your support. So far, this whole Panic thing has been perpetuated through the Internet and word of mouth. Basically, by you guys. So, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.

Love,

Dave

All Up In Da Club

TheyknowwhoyouareI got home late last night after spending three days with my family. We had a great time. I took my little brothers, Gabe (10) and Henry (5), down to Indie 103.1 for a little guest DJ spot on Saturday. They did great. Today is kind of a rock cram session for TPC. We are rehearsing for the show tomorrow. The set list will be pretty similar to the one we played a couple months ago... about as long too. We are just trying to keep our chops together. As some of you know, I lost miserably on CPS. Damn it was hard to sit at the same table as Emily Proctor. I had fun though.

1. Very funny shot Dave, what illustrious 'rock' photographer' took it?? Who came up with the concept, must have ben you!

Carter Smith shot that. It was an actual moment.

2. Because its not about the music its about the product, the units, the hype. And the face of the product,an over groomed shirtless session guitarist? If you stick a hat on him and he'll be perfect in appealing to the target audience of 13-16 year old girls and celbrity worshipping ass kissers.

Awesome! Thanks, Molly! BTW: Send us your picture, if you are as hot as you sound, I am in love.

Out Till Sunday

DavedeepeejpgI'm taking a couple days off to go visit with my family. I'll try to check in from there, but I don't know how well that is going to go. Dial-up, you see. Also, tomorrow's CRF is on. Billy, Donovan and Matt will be holding down the fort for the most part, but I am going to try to stop by for a half hour if possible. Check the "shows" section at www.thepanicchannel.com in a day or so for information about the November 16th Dragonfly engagement. Have a great weekend.

Oreos! OG, baby.

2. Finish this sentence: Axle Rose is ___________________?

A little crazy but one of the best rock singers of all time.

3. Is that a drum loop or is Perky playing that straight off the bat a La Villa Strangiato?

That is all the magic of Perk.

4. Dave I think u've answered this before but wot would b ur dream band?

Camp Freddy. The line up is always changing.

5. I was wondering do you, if any, take supplements?

Apart from vitamins, no. Never. Never sports drinks or creatine or anything like that. It's all garbage.

Rene Russo

7. Dave, ever made a really big mastake on stage? ever forgotten a part to a song you were playing, or made a mistake that you think back on and just cringe?

Sunday in the Rain

TylerderdenLori, I am sorry to hear about your loss. Our prayers are with you...

1. Billy had a question about riders on his blog yesterday, I remember standing in line for your last Dragonfly appearance and seeing your tech wheel in cases of water and Red Bull..anything else your fellow bandmates like to have on or backstage for your gigs?

Not really. We are pretty easy. Coffee, Camels, water, beer for Perk and Chaney. How much stuff do you really need when you're only at the venue for a couple of hours?

2. I heard you say that you liked the 'quirky' callers on CFR...also that the quirky guy would make a good on air personality....Can I come next week to CFR and make an in studio appearance?

We'll see. Maybe one day we can have some callers drop by, but for now the station kind of limits who we can bring along with us.

3. My dog, Scrappy, gets mad at me when I am gone for a long time, and will seek out something of mine to chew and destroy. Has Daisy ever chewed something of yours or Carmen's?

All the time. Usually shoes.

4. How would one book The Panic Channel for a show? Do you have an agent? Is it the same for Camp Freddy?

Good question. I don't really know. I don't think we have an agent. Right now we just do it ourselves.

5. What's in your refrigerator right now, remember when it was Haagen Dazs and Coke?

I don't look in there often. Carmen does keep a case of Coke at all times. I do know that.

6. Does Daisy get to sleep with you and Carmen? Do you take her on trips since she is a little doggie?

Well, we have a live in assistant named Richard who takes care of her while we are away. If she wants in the bed, she gets it. She kind of runs things around here.

7. Dave, what was the first tour you saw VH on, and what was the first concert you attended with Stephen?

Either Women and Children or Fair warning... I'm not sure. Perk and I probably saw Motley Crue together for the first time. This was back when they were in the club world.

I got some great video from the New York and Vegas CF shows that Jennifer Morrison, Billy's wife, shot. If I can figure out how to import video and audio from a DVD to iMovie I can put up some clips. Anyone know how to do this? I can only seem to get the video and not the audio.

Today is rainy and chilly here in L.A. I love it. A great day to hit the MAC store and watch movies. I need three more questions to make this post an even ten.

P.S. Hit the download section to access a clip from CF vegas. (Thanx to FreAk who made this possible.)

Peace be with you...

Dave

Leaving Las Vegas

67roadsignIf you read Steve I's post, then you know what happened. I wasn't going to say anything but since he has, I feel comfortable mentioning it here. Steve and Riss got robbed last night. They got some stuff, computers and electronics, nothing irreplaceable but the violation feels so dark. I know, as I have been robbed in the past as well. Awful stuff. As a result, some site progress will be arrested for a while. We will get him back up and running, but for now, any new info about the band and what's going on can be found here or at Steve's site. I'm just glad they are OK. Nobody was home when this took place so it could have been much worse. Prayers for Steve and Riss...

CFR is on tonight and we will discuss our time in Vegas. It was just great. Our guests included, Courtney and Lisa Leverage, Scott Weiland, Duff and Slash, Michael DesBarres, Steven Tyler, Jerry Cantrell and Billy Duffy. Jennifer Morrison shot some great video and they have promised me a copy of the show along with the footage of Lou Reed from several weeks ago. I'll get it up as soon as I get it.

Thank you all for the cool Banner submissions. I'll try to narrow it down today if I can. For those of you who don't make the final cut, it's nothing personal, I only have space for one, but all of them will appear on the Agency Artwork pages.

CFR is in the studio tonight, so we look forward to hearing from some of you on the phones. We miss the phones!

Have a beautiful day...

Leaving Los Angeles

Dscn0657_1Today is the show in Vegas with Camp Freddy. Looks like some of the VR guys will be coming, along with Courtney, Duffy and Cantrell. The usual cast of characters. I miss the city so it will be nice to get away for the day. I'll try to get some pictures up as soon as I can. The TPC site is really moving along. Steve has added some flash gymnastics and an images section. We are low on content, primarily because we have been a band for about five minutes. However, we are loving the "home grown" vibe of all of this and appreciate your support throughout the process. Don't forget for those of you in L.A., TPC will be playing at the Dragonfly again on November 16th. The date hasn't been added to the TPC site yet, but it is on the Calendar of Events. Also, as time marches on, a lot of the links from this site will be added to the TPC site, such as the Agency Artwork and TPC video and images. 6767 will take on more of a traditional blog vibe.

Type to you tomorrow,

thepanicchannel.com Launch

PanicouijaThe Panic Channel web site has now been officially launched. Thanks to Steve I, who has taken on the job of web design and has done an amazing job I must say, we were able to get the new face of TPC up by Halloween as promised. (At least by L.A. time.) For now, the content is slim, but we will be updating all week and continually changing and adding stuff from now on. Of course, 6767, stephenperkins and steveisaccs will remain as they are, but the majority of TPC collective information will be found on the new site.

Thank you,
