CFR & 12/2

OpendoorCFR: Tonight, Billy Morrison is out sick, so no sexy English tones from Mr. Morrison. I will be there and I am hoping that Matt and Dono will be in too. Feel better Billy! I will miss your wit and accent which always provide a flair of professionalism and legitimacy on the air.

TPC/Doheney/The Tints - Dec. 2nd, Key Club, Hollywood: Advance tickets are available for $10.31 at the box office. You can still get in for $1.03 with a can of food for the homeless on the day of the show.

Dave-do Camp Freddy play any Dead Kennedy song's?
Holiday in Cambodia,Police Truck,Too Drunk To Fuck?
or a lyrically up-dated version of We've Got A Bigger Problem Now might be apt.

Hey everyone I hope everyone has a great weekend.

DAVE - 3 QUICK QUESTION
¿When you are in NYC, what radio station do you listen to?
¿Have you ever watched URANIUM on the FUSE network? Juliya C is the hottest music host on TV.
¿What is your favorite college movie? ¿ANIMAL HOUSE, PCU or OLD SCHOOL?

Thanks,
Mike from NYC

I finally got around to posting my pictures from Dragonfly:

http://www.ofoto.com/I.jsp?c=15qk6nua.giprviq&x=0&y=exh4wl

It was my first time using the camera so I was spending a lot of time going "hmm, I wonder what this button does…?"

I also have a 44 second video clip of Dave playing on Dazed and Confused -- the audio isn’t as clear as the one on TPC -- ok, it kinda sounds like it was shot in a war zone -- but it gives you a pretty good "you are there" feel. Anyone know how I could post it?

The show looked amazing. I'm hoping to get down to Hollywood to see them at Key Club.

Canada is having a drought concert wise.

Dave~love the photo today. Whatever next!? :D
Hey,thanks for reminding us about the CFR, I forgot it was Saturday today.
Yesterday, I thought it was Saturday. What's going on? Oo
Is Dazed and Confused some kind of magical song?

Posted by: ylais at November 20, 2004 12:11 PM

Hey All,

Well its been a while since I posted as there has been so much stuff going on lately but I won't bore you all with the details, just nice to see you all and get the time to catch up with what is happening around here.
Steve L I agree Dead Kennedys track Halloween would be a good one love the bass line on that.

Hope your all having a wild weekend please go out and party for me. I'm gonna stay home as I had my wisdom teeth removed on thursday and I'm doing a good impression of a hampster as my face is so swollen.

Dave do dentists freak you out?

Well have a nice weekend,

Spread the love,

very rockstar-fashionista, very chic, Dave! might hurt a bit if you get the guitar stuck in the doorway, though... I don't think I've seen the hat with the silver trim, either. *applauds la Navarro's wonderful taste in hats*

What's it like playing alongside Clara's band? Is there kind of a proud uncle vibe from you?

Are we taking song requests for CFR? May I suggest, So Bored With the USA by the Clash and Neutron Bomb by the Weirdos...

Tell Dono we want a West coast Nancy Boy reunion! Rock on!

Just a thought.
Have a monster Saturday Familia!

Dave...just wondering if you'd ever consider a Camp Freddy tour? The shows sounds like a blast, but those of us far outside LA don't get to share in the love. Come to Portland...we have more strip bars per capita than anywhere in the US!

Everyone....
I wanna spread some Panic Channel love here in the UK, so was just wondering, is there any official agent stuff around yet over in the US?
...i keep hearing talk of pins and stickers are these official or homemade?

Posted by: Rob.K at November 20, 2004 01:26 PM

So....this is what celebrity feels like,eh? I totally see why you traded in integrity and trying to surpass your previous creative work for fame, heck I think I'm even gonna make a reality tv series about boring decadence and a website where people can question me about millinery matters.Who needs good music?
but on my gay website(on which I will casually announce the break up of my former much loved great band as a mere cosequence of my new gay band complete with a mediocor middleaged loser singer who still thinks hes a 15 year old loser singer complete with desinger angst because his hollywood must be so hard) I'll still show appreciation to the tiny little people (tiny as in their significance to me rather than tiny as in Dave Navarro why, hes so tiny he could fit in my pocket!).Like how Dave was so gratful from the bottem of his heart for the current audience of his band being a result of internet hype.Shame its not a result of people liking your music.I mean, lots of people will be into it because they loved Jane's but were not supposed to mention that are we?God forbid it reminds anyone of the new bands inferiority, not that its fair to make a comparison. Apples and oranges, or rather apples and shit.
Youll have to pardon any discontinuity in my postings as I take frequent breaks in which to nap and drink red bull because posting uses up so much fucking energy. In fact I've been training for this post for months, 6 hours a day with eye of the tiger playing nonstop in the background.I guess that shambolicly writing some opinions is a waste of a time, almost as much of a waste as time a replying to them with illogical pseudo hippy shit or even virtually kissing ass.Just think of all the wonderful things I could have done in these few minutes to make the world a better place with my millions of dollars, power and influence. In the future I'll try to be more like all of you perfect people, and of course dave, who dont waste time on the internet or replying to posts.god bless you all.

Hey All,

As usual, I don't think I'll be able to listen to CFR tonight. :( Everytime I try to listen, the little window opens up, then closes immediately thereafter.

I'll try to stop by the chat, though... if we know where it's going to be.

On another note, I loved your pix, Westlawriter! Apparently, you work at Westlaw. That was actually where I got my first job out of college! Too funny. It was in a satellite office on Long Island that is no longer there. (To this day, I don't know what they needed us for. We were basically proofreading programming code. What fun. LOL. Most likely, they were transitioning over to a new system.)

Seeing your name brought back some interesting memories of what was, at the time, a very bizarre place.

Anyway, I hope everyone is well. Maybe we'll all touch base later. Otherwise, pls. let me know what I missed tonight.

Cheers,
-Denise

I have to go right now to visit my mom in the hospital. Speaking of that, Molly did you forget to take your meds again??????

“Like how Dave was so gratful from the bottem of his heart for the current audience of his band being a result of internet hype.Shame its not a result of people liking your music.

What is it that they say, when someone is always paranoid about their significant other being a cheater, it’s usually because the paranoid person is guilty of the act themselves.

Perhaps this doesn’t apply to TPC for you because you are still bitter about the break up of Janes but I’m sure that all the other bands that you follow and hear hype you are so blinded by the hype that you forget about the music which is why you are accusing us of doing the same.

I can’t speak for everyone, but no matter how much I like a person’s personality….if I don’t like the music, I don’t listen to it. Also no matter how much I hate a person or hate their personality/actions if I love their music I’m able to separate the two. Again it’s about the music. It’ just happens to be icing on the cake that the members of this band happen to be great individuals.

Now as far as TPC is concerned I’ve been listening to the concert over and over and over so that alone should give you an indication of what I think of it. Just because we happen to be here almost on a daily basis doesn’t mean that if someone gives us “shit as you put it that we will believe its great. Have you ever considered that not everyone share’s your taste in music, that what you find to be phenomenal someone else might think its total shit? Have you also ever considered that you are so blinded by hate/spite that you are not allowing yourself to objectively listen to the music and make an unbiased assessment of it?

Molly, I’m sorry you are so bind and can’t separate music from your personal opinions on someone. You are seriously depriving yourself of great music out there.

Another question have you even listened to their stuff??

I'm leaving now but if you happen to say something and I don't respond it's not because you got me or whatever you're mind might make you believe. It’s because I don’t have a computer at home and I can’t respond until Monday during my breaks.

Have a great weekend Molly and the rest of the Fam.

Wendybird - I hope your mom gets well soon!

Emily - I, too, love wandering around downtown NYC. It's the hustle and bustle of the city, with the charm and laid-back air of a small town. With the coolest shops and galleries. We'll all have to hang out there one day.

And OMG, I can't believe I forgot to mention this to you guys. This is too funny.

I had a bizarre "Dave dream" last night. In the dream, he was on TV doing a commercial for some kind of skincare product that removed blackheads. (And of course, he looked great. Lots of closeups of that face.)

Just figured I'd share that with you all. Hopefully this doesn't give Molly... OR Dave... any wild ideas. LOL

Ciao for now,

Hey Molly,

NEWSFLASH: They fired Perry because he is a dick. No one wants to work with him. You can insult Steve I all you want, but just remember, that guy you're insulting replaced your hero. And he's never coming back.

If you love Perry so much, i am sure you can find him playing some old Doors or Clash records at a dive bar somewhere. He's the alcoholic pothead behind the turntables.

Wendybird, I hope and pray things get better for you and your Mom, whatever the situation is.

Molly, two letters: N A

And you must be doing something else other than Red Bull, sweetie. So, this is what being a millionaire is like? Coming on a blog to diss someone and his fans, who, btw, in case you haven't noticed, THE TPC HAVEN'T RELEASED A CD YET! (therefore, not a large body of work to judge) and knock us cause we happen to like the man? If that is what being a millionaire is like, I'll be content to keep counting change for gas money. WTF is your deal? And regardless of the origin of your bitterness, which you don't bother to share with us, Dave is far bigger than you'll ever be (see dictionary.com, look under CLASS) Didn't your Mom ever tell you if you don't have something nice to say, keep yer trap shut? Really, seriously, shut up. You're right about one thing though, it takes A LOT of energy to be a negative person. Maybe you wouldn't have to drink so much of that bullshit if you used your energy in a positive manner? Chew on that, bitch.

Posted by: Lyn at November 20, 2004 04:21 PM

RE: Molly

It was bound to happen. Every board has at least one attention-starved troll/bully who gets off on playing the devil's advocate and getting a rise out of people. In this case, "Molly" is that person.

The whole "Perry vs. Dave" thing has been going on for years at several other message boards. People argue over who is better, who has more artistic integrity, yada yada yada. At the end of the day, it's all nonsense. They're both very talented individuals who are choosing different career paths, so to speak. Who are we to judge them without being in their shoes?

As for "Molly", he/she may not even be serious about what he/she is saying. "Molly" just wants a reaction.

I've already said more than this issue warrants, but I will conclude by suggesting one word. IGNORE.

Jeez, gone for a day and suddenly Molly comes out to play. What other boards are you spreading hate to Molly? I've got to say, the shit you say puts a smile on my face. It's too humorous that you put such a half hearted effort into your hate. I mean, you're never going to get an award for most insultig antifan on a board. The catty bitches on Ashley Simpson's board have you beat by a mile...

oh my gosh....I just came back from the dark place I took myself to on Friday, and what an outpouring of love. I truly don't deserve it, this is, after all, the place where we pour our love out to Dave. Dave, I love you, mostly because of what I have experienced through this site, but, also cause you are so DREAMY!!!

Bad Boys 2,Dave,is where I got my famous line,"Annoying as a gnat at a bbq"

So, I have decided to take Cori's advice, I can't force my son to want to be with me, it still hurts, but I know deep inside he loves me, and like this guy told me the other night, show me a 15 year old who gets along perfectly with his mum, and I will show you Norman Bates...hahahha

I am trying really hard to not fall into old self-destructive habits that are my usual modus operandi when I am feeling this way...thanks guys, I need to keep things in perspective, and after reading about Maria's friend, I am a bit ashamed.

As far as Molly, could we please just follow the example set by Dave on this board and not sink to name calling, she wasn't saying SHE was a millionaire, just trying out a different writing style, albeit awkwardly, where she supposes to be writing in Dave's voice....if she were in my class, I would suggest some spell check, paragraph breaks, and a period or two, but not bad for third grade...

kristy, had my wisdom teeth out last year. no pain killers just a local and yank. hurt like hell for a day or two. hope you feel better

jezzi- he loves you, don't doubt that.

had some friends over tonight and found out the wife of one of my closest friends is a big DN fan. told her all about the board and showed her some pics from here. her coment was "how can some one be so beautifull and rugged at the same time" I like that

and speaking of artist integrity, there is a club down here in otown that is owned by a couple of the backstreet boys. all the frat boys hang there and listen to crapy dance music. I'm told the object of "good golly's" affections will be DJing one night soon. I know some of the bartenders, and I'm thinking of leaving some TPC stickers laying around the booth.

Posted by: blondimofo at November 20, 2004 09:22 PM

Emily, I hope thats not true, My son was going thru a phase of being really annoyed with everything I did, but I've been hanging in there, and it's funny if I make it a point to take him somewhere and spend time alone with him, even though he say's "I don't want to go!" Later he hangs around me and seems to want more of my attention (tho he'd never admit it) So I have to act all normal like I don't notice anything, instead of babbling "Oh I'm so happy my baby wants to spend time with me!!!!" It's more like "Hey what's up?" "Yeah uh-huh"...teen angst...drive a mom crazy!

all guys hate their mother till their 20? please say it ain't so!

There's Jez! :)

Nothing to be ashamed of, nobody is perfect and we all have issues we need to work on.
Nettie is hanging in there... i talked to her dad today. She's wide awake and moving around and remembers things but isn't talking yet. It's going to take a lot of physical therapy. I got a get well bear and flower basket that will be delivered to her hospital room tomorrow.

I just spent the last few hours playing Doom 3 and am imagining crazy demonic like creatures out of the corners of my eyes.... It's going to take me a while to finish that darn game!

Morning All :)

Jezzi I'm sending you some love, as I know what I was like as a teenager, hormones running rampant, I probably wasn't the most easy to understand individual at that time either.

Shane thanks for your caring words :)
The thing is they gave me novacaine to knumb the area, cut open my mouth only to find that there were none there, so just to make sure they send me off to have this mad head xray and yep sure enough none left (I had 2 removed in April) so really I needn't look or feel this swollen right now if only they had done the xray first!

Molly, lay off the caffiene!!

Dave, Nick Mason was on the Jools Holland show the other night and said that Pink Floyd may tour again (oooh happy days!) You appeared on Jools's show with Janes, whats he like? Would you have him play with CF?

About the 2nd online jam, the only thing I do know (apart from the loops posted) is that Kyle has planned to record a ballad soon, that he will share here. And as far as Im concerned, Ive started something again with the loop "g2". Will be posted here soon too. On another note, the cover of Figure8 will be uploaded soon too for those interested. (Its a song from S.Isaacs previous band, "Skycycle".)

Some TpC Icons Pack will be available soon for download too, for both platforms "Windows" and "Mac OSX" (HighRes Icons).

Have a great sunday to you all.

I second the opinion of the people here who seed ignore her/him. I've come across those "attention seekers" all the time on all kinds of message boards, so what?

About the Perry/Dave debate: I guess it's best to give it a rest. I never heart a bad word from Dave or the others of the band about it and I think we should accept that this is their thing.

I've listened to the TPC show several times now and i like it more and more. I am not totally happy with the singing on all songs (sorry, but i am just honest) - but i am pretty positive that they'll bring out a great album.

Also read DTTAH for the second time now...and i am really loving the book. And it's really good that they decided to put the postscript in it.

So, have a nice Sunday all,
love,

See, this is why I love it here. Good morning family!! I am so low maintanance, one phone call from blulizard, a kiss from my puppy, oh, and karaoke cures what ails me. It's amazing though, the people in my REAL life, those that SAY they are my friends, they seek to cure what ails me by offering me drinks and drugs...hmmm...back to my cave I go...

ok, Dave, jezzi's cheesy question of the day, if you found yourself at karaoke night, which song would you sing?
a)Love Shack b) Crazy c) I will Survive d)other

it's raining, I love the rain....
I've never had a White Christmas either, I mean, I went to New York on the day after Christmas two years ago, during one of their worst snowstorms, It was kind of nice, but very cold, and I got bored seeing all that white in Central Park..but I did get my very first celebrity picture, My son and I with Rupert from the Hello Deli... my friend Charina said I looked like I was meeting the POPE!!

Ok, Dave, cheesy question number two, Who was the first 'celebrity' you ever met?

jezebel(I love you more than brussel sprouts)

Freak, I did get CFR last night, but it's 87.7MB and I'm not sure how I could send it to you. I have to live with dial up for one more week, (after all these years I FINALLY ordered DSL and it's being shipped as we speak). I'm guessing that I could FTP it to you once I get the DSL connection working. It's an MP3; that will play on a MAC, right? I have a PC and I'm clueless about MACs. Drop me an email and we'll work it out.

Spreading the love,
Deena

I watched this program the other day and relationships were discussed and this guy used a metaphor that i loved
to do with giving each other space, could be applied to any kind of relationships, lovers, friends, family, anyway, here it is.

If two guitar strings touch the note is silent, there needs to be space between the strings for the sound to be heard.

It was something like that.

Dave, Are you doing anything special for your anniversary??

Wow...
Isn't Molly the little s%&t-pot stirrer? Here's my two-cents.

I enjoy this sight because when I was a young man, (just a year younger than Dave and Stephen) I went with some friends to see our favorite Hollywood band, Thelonious Monster. Jane's Addiction was also playing that show...needless to say, after that gig I had two favorite hometown bands. (We had a lot of favorites actually. That was a great scene with many great bands that never really made it but still rocked Hollywood hard while the hair bands got all the hype and all the chicks. Bands like Liquid Jesus, Celebrity Skin, Pigmy Love Circus, Motorcycle Boy, on and on...)

Anyway, we started going to as many Jane's Addiction shows as possible. I knew one of the bartenders at Scream so I saw them a lot. They were "our" band. By ours, I mean all of the displaced punks who had no scene real scene and all the metal heads who wanted to really rock instead of teasing their hair and wearing spandex out on Sunset Blvd. All of a sudden we had something to root for. Jane's Addiction. We watched them grow and grow. I drank with Perry at Small's. I saw Dave and Eric at clubs around town. We bought the first album and played the fuck out it! We bought tickets to two of the seven sold out John Anson Ford shows and snuck into two more of them. (along with half of Hollywood) And it just grew and grew. Five years later, I was sprawled out in the lawn at Lollapalooza, still not realizing that "my" band, "my" hometown band would become the most infuential and musically powerful band in the world, even though they would split-up in a few months.

A year or two after that, I saw Dave at the Dragonfly (of all places.) He had two fine women with him and they were sitting in the back patio. I think H.R. from Bad Brains was doing a gig that night. Anyway, I said hello to Dave and we ended up talking about music and women for the rest of the night. I left thinking, this guy has every excuse to be an arrogant rock star and he's just not. He was an pretty funny, intelligent, insightful goodfella. I had met and partied with lots of celebrities and only a small few were nice people.

So here's the deal... I have to be honest. I don't own a copy of TNO. I didn't go to the "JA relapse tour." I still haven't seen TPC yet because I live in San Diego now. Jane's Addiction is my favorite band of all time. I watched them grow. I feel a pride of ownership from having been there from the beginning. I have at least thirty shows that I can remember and look back on. I still listen to JA everyday. And even if Dave Navarro never played another note of music, I would still be a fan of his. Add to that, the fact that we both battled addiction and didn't die, I feel a bond to him. I read this blog everyday and I see the genuine caring that people have for each other and that is something that the world needs.

To me, it's not about whether TPC is as good as Jane's Addiction. It's more about the fact, that I respect Dave as an artist and trust him to make the music that gets him off. If I like it then great. If I don't care for it as much as Jane's, I still think that Dave is a great guy who conquered his demons.

So to the Mollys of the world, I say, either go back to your hole and fester or come out and enjoy the world. Don't be afraid of the light. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "It's only rock and roll."

Hi Kirsty,

Wow, you still get Jools show where you live? I guess you are out in Europe?

His show used to be shown here on BBC America, it stopped about 2 years ago. They weren't new shows either, but I still enjoyed them.

Now all BBCAmerica seems to show are repeats of their home repair shows (I LOVE 'Changing Rooms' but...) & old 70s Brit sitcoms are on 24/7!

'Benny Hill' is now on daily, his show was on regular TV here over 20 years ago, now we get to pay for it?? lol I love the Brit-coms & seeing 'The Avengers' again is fun, seeing as how Mrs. Peels clothes are now coming back into style once again! lol Though repeating the home repair shows non-stop gets a bit redundant.

I saw Jools in concert many times when he was still with Squeeze, a few times with his band The Millionaires & the back up singers, the Wealthy Tarts, he always put on a fun show.

It would be great to see his show again, he always had some interesting bands we'd hardly hear about in the States such as Moloko. I also liked the fact that he spent many shows just focusing on one band as his special guests. He's a great host, a true fan of all sorts of music & also a very good musician.

take care,
itanja

Dave, Dave!

Do you know what a 'chapman stick' is? I just found out about 5 minutes ago. It's one of the most amazing and interesting things I've ever seen.

It's not lip balm. It's not a literal stick.

For those of you wondering, I'm not telling until Dave answers. And no searching for it! Don't take the fun and mystery out of it =)

I'll post the link in a little while.
