Another damn gig that i'll miss dammit!
I hope that those of you who go to this $1.03 admission show take many many cans of food with you, each, and not just the bare minumim to get in. Be good to those less fortunate ones 'cause they need your love and support, and you just never know the turns that life takes. Many of these folk had pretty decent normal lives and then things just collapsed. There are some incredible stories out on the streets...and sometimes, no matter any of our best efforts to contribute our positive vibe to society, some things can come unravelled. They're good peeps that are having a tough time of it out there... So give loads of food y'all.
love love love

Skot--Hear, hear!!!
I believe that the majority of us are one or two missed paychecks from being homeless ourselves, I know I am...
Dave, thank you so much for all the work you and Carmen do for charity, from Pediatric Aids, to Autism, to Animal Rescue, Multiple Sclerosis, Domestic Violence, Breast Cancer, and the Musicians Addiction Program...
I am thinking of a passage from a favorite book of mine
"Whatever you do for the least of us, you do for Me"
God bless you and yours, Dave

Dave,
¿When are you guys, THE PANIC CHANNEL, gonna come to NYC? You know that you are loved here. I got a little spoiled in October. Hopefully you guys will play Irving Plaza again. Dave FYI; On the Camp Freddy website, as of Wednesday, they forgot to include WHOLE LOTTA LOVE in the set list for the Irving Plaza show.
We had a pumpkin painting contest at work today. Almost every department did something that you normally associate with Halloween. My department did KISS. We had a big pumpkin painted like Gene Simmons with a huge tongue sticking out of it and some blood dripping from his mouth. Then we did little pumpkins of Ace, Paul and Peter. I don't think that we will win, but I liked ours the best.
I came in dressed as a guy with a REALLY big mullet. I am MULLET MAN today!
Have a great day!
Later,
Mike from NYC

Yes, I totally agree w/ bringing as much canned food as you can. When I was 11, our home burned to the ground. It was an accident, some kids were playing with firecrackers in a storage lot next to where our house was built and it caught that lot and our house on fire. We lost everything and had to stay at the Red Cross shelters for almost 2 months before we were able to start renting an apartment.
I know it's not the same as being homeless on the streets, but I'll never forget the kindness of the Red Cross and the people who give to charity organizations like that.
Bring whatever you can spare!!!!

Dave!
The Windy City is calling for you...we've got some kewl dates coming up here. Velvet Revolver, Ministry, our local boy Billy Corgan, all making stops in town in the near future. When you I gonna come our way?!?!
I hope to check out VR at the Allstate; I saw Scott w/ STP there back in 96 (called the Rosemont Horizon back then), and they put on a kick ass show. The second of three sets was entirely unplugged, and they did a couple of Zep covers. The DeLeo brothers rock man. Their chord progressions are just insane. It makes me feel like a dumbass trying to follow them sometimes.
I've never seen Slash live though, and I'm totally hoping I get to. There's just something about Scott's vocals and Slash's lead that just sounds so natural together. It's almost as if the GnR sound has been erased from my mind. :-) Never totally, but close...
Anyways, have a Happy Halloween! Since it's on a Sunday, try not to eat too much candy. :-)

There are only twelve times in history where the "F" word has been considered acceptable for use.
They are as follows:
12. "What the @#$% do you mean, we are sinking?"
-- Capt. E.J. Smith of RMS Titanic, 1912
11. "What the @#$% was that?"
-- Mayor Of Hiroshima, 1945
10. "Where did all those @#$%ing Indians come from?"
-- Gen. George Custer, 1877
9. "Any @#$%ing idiot could understand that."
-- Einstein, 1938
8. "It does so @#$%ing look like her!"
-- Picasso, 1926
7. "How the @#$% did you work that out?"
-- Pythagoras, 126 BC
6. "You want WHAT on the @#$%ing ceiling?"
-- Michelangelo, 1566
5. "Where the @#$% are we?"
-- Amelia Earhart, 1937
4. "Scattered @#$%ing showers, my ass!"
-- Noah, 4314 BC
3. "Aw c'mon. Who the @#$% is going to find out?"
-- Bill Clinton, 1998
2. "Geez, I didn't think they'd get this @#$%ing mad."
-- Saddam Hussein, 2003
1. "Laura, just what the @#$% do you mean. We have to move out?
-- George W. Bush, Nov. 3rd. 2004

Any swear word that is said in a sentence by Samual L. Jackson is awsome to me,when he swears its an art.
So many amazing combinations.
You know he was holding some R-rated words back in the SW prequals.

Is the key club first come first serve. Or can we get tickets before hand???? Same question goes for Dragonfly.
Posted by: wendybird at October 29, 2004 11:47 AM
skot~lmao@nr.1 Hope yer right...
I've stopped wanting there to be a show in London/Anywhere in Europe. My little Booh's treatment is going to set me back so much that I can't go anyway, and I figure if Dave & Co comes over anytime soon, they wont be back for ages. I know that's a pretty selvfish thing to say, but I'll be so bummed out if there's a show within a two hour flight away and I can't go.
Only 1 more day left of employment, woo hoo...
Hope yer all well.

Thanks, Jason, for the link. In spite of the negative feedback at the bottom from readers who are clearly oblivious to what Dave is all about, it is an amusing article. (Most of it has been printed elsewhere, including this very site.) And that pic... NICE! A definite keeper for those 'personal files'. ;)

RE: VICE magazine....it's just so tired & sleazy, it tries to be so cutting edge. zzzzz There is nothing remotely original or even funny going on there.
The 'Dos & Don'ts' aren't even amusing. Poking fun at homeless people isn't funny & some of their other commentary borders on racism.
VICE used to be a freebie magazine which was available at record stores. Now they are charging $30 a year for that crap?? Now THAT IS a joke! LOOOOL
Posted by: itanja at October 29, 2004 02:45 PM
Good afternoon, everyone!
skot,
Very good post! A lot of people think that if someone is homeless or having hard times, that it MUST be their own fault. Sometimes life just deals you a crappy hand. I recently had surgery. My husband missed work to stay home with me...and was fired from his job. We went from doing just fine to having no clue how we'd get by. Thankfully, I had some really wonderful friends who loaned me money to get by. I was lucky...there are so many people out there who don't have anyone to help them out. Also, this is just too funny!!

I second your plea to Dave that the Windy City is calling his name!! I'm not IN Chicago, but I am close enough that I'd glady drive the 2 hours to see Dave...with a smile on my face the entire drive there!! :)

Hey Dave and Fam whats shakin!
I wish i could check in here more cuz I seem to miss so much each time I'm gone but my life has ben pretty fucked up lately and sadly to say I prolly bring most of it on myself..lol.
Shit I missed out on getting Velvet Revolver ticks cuz the tick master said it was sold out so unless I go find a scalper the day of the show I'm shit out of luck.
I think it's totally cool to those of you who have said you have helped out the homeless cuz I've been on the streets before and they need as much help as they can get to get back on their feet.
So whats everyone doing for halloween this weekend? Since I'm a lil to old to go trick or treating I'm either going to stay home and watch dome horror movies or go see a show at a club somewhere. "The Brian Jonestown Massacre is playing that night in Toronto so I might check it out. Anyone heard of them? I have heard a few of their songs which were pretty cool plus I heard they have a documentary coming out with the Dandy Warhols called "Dig". So I might as well see them before they are famous.
On a peronal note i just switched to smoking AMerican cigarettes and find them so much better than Canadian ones. They dont sell Marbloros at the stores around me bit I like Winstons. They are more expensive here but since I'm trying to cut down on my other vices I can afford them.
I wish everyone another good 24!
cheers,
Ryan

Hi Dave, so when are ya coming over to England again???
I friggin passed out last time i saw you and the rest of Jane's at Wolverhampton.I was getting squashed and had drunk too much vodka and ended up with the saint john's ambulance service.I was slightly pissed off coz i ended up at the sides of the stage and couldnt really see you all, but hey.........After i came round from my drunken state again i could hear you and i had a good dance so thats what matters.Anyway,i have to go to work now so hurry up and get your very sexy ass over here and tell that Mr Perkins for me that he has the most beautiful smile i have ever seen.Take care, Maz x

Good morning, Dave's "kids." I just want to wish everyone a happy day before Halloween. Isn't it great when Halloween falls on a weekend? I am off to drink some echinacea tea, otherwise I'll be going as the dwarf Sneezy to my friend's Halloween party tonight.
Hugs and kisses to all... (although you may want to stand a few feet away from me, due to my germs)
Oh, skot... I didn't want you to think I forgot about you. Just been busy and sick the last few days. I still have to check out your website... and I promise, I will! (Perhaps now...)

Take heart, Davemeister, smearing blood in the Playboy complex is nothing compared to the body fluids, ancient and modern, going on in the Grotto:
"Krista Allen, the very sexy pin up girl for the December 2003 Christmas issue of Stuff Magazine (hey, The Corsair only buys it for the interviews) has an interesting story about the perils of doing a swimsuit scene in the infamous Playboy masion Grotto, says Krista Allen (Dec 2003 stuff):
"'We shot (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) at the Grotto at the Playboy mansion. I was nervous to get in the water because, I mean, this is the Playboy grotto -- who knows what goes on in those pools. Afterwards I took a lot of antibiotics and prayed for the best."
