The Sound of Panic

YouwillpanicLast night officially ends my book tour. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed meeting a lot of you in person. I met with some people from M.A.P. and they have already received some calls from some people seeking help as a result of the tour. That really makes me so grateful and certain I did the right thing with the proceeds and awareness. That makes telling my dark little tale of finding the light all worth while. We have been doing some recording and the tracks are coming out so sick. One of these days I would love to join you in a chat. We will be very busy for the next week or two as I have a lot of Panic work ahead followed by Camp Freddy stuff. Either way, we will make it happen. By the way, I really think that Perkins and Chaney are the best rhythm section in rock. They never cease to blow me away. Just had to give it up to them.

Thanx for the love,

Dave

Hey Dave,

Went to the free Velevet Revolver show on Wends. night. Still have muddled hearing :) The Pussycat Dolls were there so I was on the lookout for you or Carmen.

I'm off to Big Sur for a week. Long needed vacation/birthday celebration.

Saw your photo....I pictured you as a wild redhead in a leather miniskirt OR a pale, black haired 'Goth chick' OR looking like 'Jezebel' from the Bette Davis movie....batting your big 'BetteDavis Eyes' at all the purty boys!!

Jezzi rocks straight up! She is a total sweet heart. I have conveyed that numerous times to her and I know people agree. She actually recognized me before the concert. How cool was that. I am very much looking forward to a big hug from her! She rules people.

There's my love!!!
Granted, I am a redhead, no miniskirt, avert your eyes.
I was goth for a while only cause Black is so slimming, and it lets me hang with the bad boys!

Just sooooo weird, I mean, I know my life is glamourous people, but don't try to imitate me, be yourself.

Thanks to Wendy for clearing it up. I told you baby, hat and glasses, and I was true to that, I just really miss giving you a hug, now go get some Sleep!!!

ok, calming down...it's so hard
by the way, shout out to Riss! I loved the sincerity of the handshake, and that lipstick looked fantastic!!

Just finished reading the book. Stunning. Glad to see Dave make it out of hell alive. I immediately thought of a few people i used to be friends with...who absolutely need to read this book...maybe it can help.

Can't wait for CF this Thursday in NYC...looking forward to seeing Perkins/Chaney this time around! Might be hard to be that last NYC show though...I remember thinking i was going to spontaneously combust when Dave and Billy Duffy tore it up on "Love Removal Machine". What a moment, I thank God I saw that.

Hi all

I just wrote about meeting Dave in Ridgewood, NJ in my livejournal here's the link http://www.livejournal.com/users/wetodd3029/15320.html there's a link there to some really bad pictures that I took, but I saved them just to be able to show what the atmosphere was like (the pics are really blurry)

Alan, Kirsti and Freak check your e-mail!

That's about it...sorry I know this was pointless

~Marg :)

P.S. Sorry I'm using this for something personal but it's just something I have to do...

To an old friend who I ran into at the signing:
It was REALLY nice to see you. I would love to get together sometime. I know we stopped talking a while ago but I'd really like to get back in touch with you. I miss you, and I'm gonna be honest I think of you often. I'm not gonna lie I didn't recognize you right away when you came up to me because YOU LOOK AWSOME! I would really like to get together...let bygones be bygones... my e-mail has never changed, and neither has my screen name... I don't have any idea how to contact you except by posting this here...which is why I'm doing this...but if you choose not to contact me, then I suppose I understand, but I would really like to get together, just to catch up...

once again I'm sorry I took up board space with this, but it's the only way I can think of to contact my old friend...

I’m sorry I didn't get to meet Riss or Jezzy :(. My mind was so flustered and still going 90 miles an hour trying to get from point A to point B. I saw VR at Ivar and Selma the night before, then went home got 4 hours of sleep, went to get tickets for Jay leno at 6:00 a.m, went back home at 8 (all the way from burbank to El Monte) then went back to Burbank at 11 to wait in line. After the show I raced to Dave's signing but I got totally lost and made it just in the nick of time. 7:10 ish. I couldn't even formulate a sentence when I got there. My mind was still racing through the 605, 10, 210, 134, 101, 5, and 60 freeways and taking alternative streets to try to bypass the traffic in Sunset. And having a horrible time stopping in the middle of a steep hill with my stick shift. When I got there I met a girl who I thought was Jezzi and it was all still going to fast. But it was clearly a misunderstanding; she thought I was jezzi or something. I didn’t even think about the hat and glasses. I didn’t have any time to catch my breath and talk to some more people. But I gotta tell you Dave was really nice. The first picture I got of him was the extreme close up and he waited until I could figure out how to zoom in and out and get a decent picture. When I saw him wait I finally took a deep breath and composed myself. Everyone at book soup was so nice and professional. I wonder if Riss was the nice girl standing as we got our books out?

What do I have to say about this weekend I mean week? Well I learned that even though I still have the heart of a teeny bopper I don’t have the body of one. As exciting and fulfilling as it all was my body shut down and left me with a cold. I also learned that I need to communicate better and take a moment to breathe. Jezzi, it was my fault I thought mordecai was you. It was clearly a communication error.

Hope everyone is having a great day. Cori if you still can't see the pictures e-mail me and I'll add you to the share option. That goes for anyone else.

If you guys want a hard copy of the pictures that is also possible. You need to create an account through http://www.ofoto.com/ I think they are 29 cents per print. e-mail me and I'll help you out.

Wendy,
No worries, you must forgive my freaking out!!!

You, my friend, are a kind and generous soul, willing to go the extra mile for those you admire, yet also willing to share your experiences!

We WILL meet, my Colorado friend (Dave's better fan than me) will be here for TPC shows in LA, so we will HOOK UP!!

I still owe you a hug! You have really been open with me, and allowed me to be open with you. I feel you, sister, we were calling Book Soup at 7:40, they were telling us Dave was LEAVING, we were completely frazzled, and I believe I came off RUDE, I burst into tears later, my sweet Blanca didn't know what to make of me

Blanca, I want everyone to read this.
You are an angel, sent to me by God, and I will be forever blessed to have made your acquaintance. What could have been a disaster, turned into a crazy adventure!!

Dave, thanks for putting up with my looniness! The books that you signed, one was for the man who is my strongest weakness, I love him, I hate him, but he has always said you were his inspiration, and for that, thank you.
The other was for a girl I teach with, she has two children, Gavin and Gwen, and is one of the sweetest girls I have ever met, She loved the TDDUP series, and fell in love with you and Carmen.

Me, well it IS all about the cards! and the hat!!,and the eyes, and the hair, and the body, and the.......

that's pretty cool... and the love will always go to you! (:

whee, finished Scar Tissue this evening. not a bad read! do you have any idea over when DTTAH will be released in the UK, or is that something that the publishers keep to themselves?

i will agree with Marg that dave is seriously one of the nicest people. i didn't feel like some groupie going up there, but like i was respected and i liked that feeling. it was seriuosly one of the best nights of my life...an amazing experience.

i don't have much to say today...just checking in and saying hello to everyone and that i hope everyone has a good weekend...i'm seriously psyched for the camp freddy gig next week...i can't wait...i need some good old fashioned fun...adios dudes...love you all..mwah!

Hey Dave,

You think Carmen would come on here and take a day to answer questions fans might have that would come better from a non-Dave perspective?

Also, you said in your book that you never shared needles (or maybe it was on howard stern. but i know you said it), BUT...don't you worry about the fact that there were so many people in your house, also shooting up, and there were needles laying all over the place? They easily could have used one of your needles while you weren't awake/conscious/paying attention.

Anyway, not trying to worry you or anything. I am grateful you are here to tell your story, and i enjoyed the book immensely. You should seriously think of keeping a daily journey, and publishing it

shane...i so know what you mean...someone very close to me let me down...you all know about my grandmother...but recently...within the past month, my so called best friend of 15 years just stopped talking to me and completely blocked me from her life knowing what was going on and knowing that my grandmother died etc. she just stopped talking...i tried communicating with her by e-mail or calling but she never responded...so i'm letting the friendship go as painful as that is. and people on this board...strangers most of whom i've never met have been super supportive and just great people lending their condolences and support, which someone who's been my best friend for 15 YEARS couldn't do...so i thank you all for your never ending love and support :-*

Posted by: blondimofo at October 15, 2004 03:45 PM

If it's any consolation at all Emily, some friendships reach their natural end, some stand the test of time, and others can come back to you when you're least expecting them. I lost a lot of friends just by going to uni, but have recently re-established a few, and look apon them differently from where I am now.

Stay well hon

Just doing my daily check-in.... Big fat "Hey y'all!" to everyone reading and posting. (I'm feeling a southern vibe today.... almost country... suddenly craving fried chicken and Tim McGraw)

I just have to mention that I hope Marg's long-lost friend contacts her, because I have a few friends like that, who I've lost touch with over something I can't even remember. That was such a precious note, and soooo not wasted board space.

Wendy, I feel for you, doll. Why aren't you going to the show? I wanted to meet ALL of my fellow tri-state 6767ers. Nevertheless, I may be in need of an extra ticket, and I wouldn't have it any other way than to pay you for it. I will know by Monday if this person is going to be 100% reliable. If you find someone to take it before then, please, bestow upon them the experience of seeing Dave on stage.

Why am I strangely drawn to Six7Six7's idea of Carmen answering questions? I think I may have to second that proposal.

Emily... I know how painful it can be to have a friend step out of your life with out any good explanation. And it seems to happen when you need a friend the most. Let her go. And be confident that the space she filled will eventually be filled by someone who is more in synch with where you are in your life right now. I've had to reluctantly accept that people grow apart, and, for lack of any better phrasing, it blows.

Sending a HUGE hug your way....

Hello Dave!!

Hello Family and a huge shout to my bro WhitePony.

Thanks for the great time in Colorado Springs, bro. It ROCKED. Now for the bad news... about 8:40 CST (I was still in Indiana on my way home) and I get a cell phone call from the person who pretty much has been screwing me for the last while. Since the ringer is a little too soft I missed the call, thankfully. What was an absolutely wonderful week turns to crap. So after almost a day of trying to clean up, and forgetting about this person, I come to the computer and automatically come to 6767.com and start reading. Within a short time, it's like I had almost forgotten about the crap and just sat back and purely enjoyed reading what's been going on since I have been away.

This community would not be possible without DAVE being there to set it up and have the foresight to communicate as much as he does. It is just truly amazing that DAVE would do this type of thing.

MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU ONCE AGAIN, DAVE.. thank you very much for this site.

PEACE and RESPECT,

BH

i've just had a terrible night...i went out with a friend, but it was raining really hard and we got soaked and cold and we couldn'd find a place to go dance or have a drink. she was a bit chracined, and then we both were feeling down and had a horrible night out. and to make it all complete, a bottle of wine emptied in my bag so it's now 3 o'clock in the morning and i've washed my entire outfit and bag. everything smelled horrible...and i'm all alone and when i was taking a shower i just bursted into tears. i hate nights like these.
it started off all wrong, i could have known it when we were still at home.
i need to take a good long sleep and think about what excactly went wrong tonight...and see if my clothes are alright since i was not thinking how i could wash the wine out of my clothes in the best way....

dont know why you would like to know all this, but i had to go somewhere with my frustrations.......sorry bout that
so much happened, and not just what i just wrote. i'm not sure what went wrong. it was wrong time, wrong place, wrong moment, wrong everything to go out
i'll see you all tomorrow, hope i'm feeling better than. sorry again about all this
i love you

Chin up, Emma. We all have nights like those. But not everyone knows about this great place to go and vent. Smile, doll.

PS It's crap rainy here in New York, too.

Posted by: Adina at October 15, 2004 06:25 PM

Emma,

It's crap rainy in New Jersey too.

I believe (don't quote me) that wine can be cleaned with either salt or some club soda and blotting. Lots of blotting.

I've had nights like those, where my gut told me to stay home; but, being an optimist, instead had my stupid a$$ out having a night I wish I could've hit the rewind button on ... or called "do-over" or something.

Worst one (so far): jackass me drinking margaritas in Tom Collins glasses. Only had three; but, those three were almost full of alcohol (only tasted the sour mix) cause my "friend" was bartending. Got so destroyed, I ended up hysterically crying ... at the bar ... in front of people. Oh! Then I got sick, in the ladies room, in the parking lot, in front of people. Freaked out cause I wouldn't stop getting sick and panicked that I had alcohol poisoning or some s!@t ... ended up in the hospital where they pumped me so full of fluids my face swelled up to twice its size ... and it took two days for the swelling to go down (and I had to go to work looking like that) ... and it was one of those nights where, before we even left, my gut told me to go home instead. Did I listen? Noooooooo

Do I listen now? You bet your sweet a$$ I do.

*steals the Bozo the clown nose and flippers from Skot with a kiss on the cheek and a thank you*

*puts them on, and nothing else except a goofy grin*

*starts to run past you, stops, shimmies my shoulders, runs out*

Much love,
~~ Lori

Just a reminder that the Conan repeat with Dave will be on at 3:54AM EST tonight.

The 'Carson Daly' Friday broadcast with Carmen, is on for an hour tonight. In fact, all his Friday shows are on for an hour. Carson starts at 1:35AM.

Thought I'd remind the East Coast 6767ers, in case anyone is taping & wants to make sure they get both shows on the tape.

Jez -- great advice; and, I LOVED your knock knock joke ... *whispers* I was just a little distracted by the nekkid dude in the flippers and clown nose.

I'm one happy camper. Why? Cause I bought 3 new CDs today!!!!

* the new Marilyn Manson (Best of)
* REO Speedwagon (Best of)
* Eddie & the Cruisers (Soundtrack)

Ok, so, yeah, that's maybe an odd combo to purchase at the same time. What can I say? I'm *thinks* ecclectic in my musical tastes? Diverse? Well-rounded?

Oddly enough, but not for me, that's not the strangest combo that I've purchased. That honor goes to the day I actually walked up to the cashier with Megadeth, Marvin Gaye, and Yanni.

Much love,

Lori, Lori, Lori,

I want YOU to be the DJ at my next party, spinning the mix...Marvin, then Marilyn, then Megadeth, perfect!!

I am a music geek, I had a friend burn a cd for me for when I take long road trips, cause he knows how I hate driving,

Some Ani, a little Alicia, Pink, Michelle, Evanescence, and the back to back 1000 miles by Vanessa and 500 miles by Proclaimers.

Dave,

I must say what a pleasure it was to meet you at City Walk on Tuesday night. I drove up from South OC and got there just as they were shutting things off. Damn that I could not get a picture. I had just got home from work and was in a mad rush to get up there, unfortuneately the SG lady with teh camera couldn't wouldn't takea pic of me with you to send to me. In any event, I digress...

Dave, meeting you and having you sign a book for me and my friend Ryan was truly something special. You were so gracious and warm and considerate, that it completely blew my mind. On a side note, the book is fantastic...Thanks for putting it out! If it helps even one person, it is worth it. As for TPN, Camp Freddy, etc. I wish you nothing but success with it, you deserve it. While yes there are some of us I am sure that would like to see/know/hear more JA-related material, I am sure when the time is right, it MAY happen, but until then, best of wishes with your other projects. You've worked very hard for a very long time, and deserve to do something you see fit to do.

Peace,

Bryan

P.S. No way would you have been a sell out (everyone is a sell out in some respect) for joining G'N'R. Perhaps you would have been able to speed up the process of getting Axl to release Chinese Democracy by now.

Hey Dave and Family!

Ok... catching up here...

Wine can also be removed from color-fast, non-silk clothing with OxyClean... it'll remove anything organic... but don't mix it with bleach or use it on silk...

Emily... I know how it feels to lose a friendship like that. My "best" friend for something like 36 years decided to toss the friendship a few years ago. It's a very long story, but just know that friendships sometimes just end... and they sometimes take a "vacation" for a while. Whatever the case, you've got years of memories and those can't be taken away. Big hugs to you!

Dave... watched you on Carson last night! Awesome, bro... just awesome! What you've done with the book and with the proceeds is a very good thing, Dave. Kudos to you for giving back and helping others. There are many people that wouldn't even think to reach out the way you have. Much love to ya, bro!

Have a great weekend everyone! :D

Much Love and Respect to Dave and the Family...

Peace,
Tim/Panic Agent Nitewing

Hello Dave and Family!!

Ugh had a bad day at work today....Then to top it off with my son getting in trouble at school today...glad to be home and vegging.
Lori- I have the most eccentric taste in music as well!! For my birthday last year, my fiancee took me to Best Buy and let me pick out like 7 cds. They went from old school rap to the late 60's and in between, then over to industrial, metal and funk. :)
Emma- I get those nights often. Just think okay talk to the family, then find a movie or book that makes you smile. When I am in a mood I just watch the one movie I know will have me laughing in the first scene. Other wise know that tomoorw is another day, and it can't get any worse. :) Hope you feel better. Thank you for feeling comfy in talking and sharig with us.
All who went to the siging. I am so jealous, but I am glad you had a great time :)
Wendy- The pics were great!! Thank you for sharing! MMMM Scott Weiland :)
sarah- I will email you back tommorow, just wantd to check in before I watch a movie.
Dave- I will be watching your beautiful wife tonite :) I bet you will be hiding in the wings.... Don't think I won't be looking!

Have a great evening all!!
Karrie :)

So it's morning.... another day. And I am so relieved to hear that both Emily and Emma have climbed up a bit from their abysmal moods. Stay strong, sistahs!

Lori... you're in NJ, right? First, I must commend your eclectic choices in music. I respect anyone who can open their mind (and ears) to all sorts of sounds (so I think my respect goes out to most of you on this board). I have a penchant for black metal, but can be caught listening to Abba, and then to even the two out, I will turn up some Linkin Park (is it me, or is Linkin Park really dance-y for a "heavy" band?) "Mozart to Megadeth" is the phrase I actually use in conversation to describe my tastes. Second, are you going to the Manson show at Roseland next month?

Jez... can you burn me a copy of that crazy CD your friend made? That sounds phunky... with a ph (standing for Pretty Hot). Oh, and about those dern couches at the Viper Room. Been there. Smelt 'em. Sneezed. Next time, stay upstairs... the germs don't congregate as readily up there. May your cold disseminate quickly. :-)

Tim... a man who understands the importance of OxyClean. I am beyond impressed.

Wendy... HOT pics of Scott! (Owen Wilson "hoo" inserted here)

My rat, Katrina, says hello to all of you. (Did I just sound like Ralph from the "Simpsons?")

Oh yeah... this is Adina. I've morphed into NightBird... Did I mention I consider Stevie Nicks to be my musical mother? :-)

Mornin' Dave and fam,

May I just start off by saying that spyware is terribly annoying and sucks hairy sweaty monkey balls?

Other than that, it's a beautiful morning. Sun is shining; I'm still breathing (which is always a good sign). I'd say "birds are singing"; but, they're geese. You know what, yeah, I will. While not stereotypical melodious or soothing to the ear, honking geese trumpet the change of seasons when the trees become ablaze with color. They call out to us to take notice of the beauty, in itself a beautiful thing.

Yes, I just waxed poetic about geese. I'm making an appointment with a counselor on Monday. LOL!

Jez -- my favorite REO Speedwagon song? *thinks* Tough one. I'm partial to "Time for Me to Fly"; but, I have to go with "Keep On Loving You" cause I'm that same kind of sucker.

Adina -- Much respect back at you. Your comment had me remembering my M.O.D/Overkill phase. "Premenstrual Princess Blues" is still my fave. "Tribute to Jimi Hendrix" still cracks me up. "Fatal if Swallowed" *sighs all sappy* Good times. Good times. As for the Manson show, I'm from down near Trenton; so, I normally don't look at North Jersey shows unless it's at the Meadowlands. Lemme look into it a bit and I'll let you know. Oh, and all hail Stevie Nicks. (Gotta play 'Bella Donna' now)

Karrie -- Best Buy is my Mecca ... and my birthday's in August. Think your fiance' would let me get 7 CDs too? LOL!

TIMMAH!!! -- *sniffs* I love you man. *clears throat, leans over, whispers* Um, this is where you give me your Bud Light.

Wendy -- thanks for posting the pics. They're h-o-o-o-o-o-t-t-t-t-t-t

I'm loving Carmen's show. Hot guys being made to jump out of a plane, wearing nothing but CK boxer briefs and combat boots ... and a dude strapped to their backs ... is the funniest thing I've seen on tv in a loooonnnngggg time.

Question: since the RS Top 100 Guitarists article was bandied about yesterday ... what's everyone's top 5-ish? Figured we could come up with our own list, show those RS punks how it's done.

Mine: Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Dave, Randy Rhodes, and John Denver (for the opposite end of the spectrum).

Much love and happy weekend!
~~ Lori

Edge of Seventeen, baby!(may i humbly present some stream of consciousness on a saturday morning...brrrr...)

I sent this guy an email with help in the subject line.

He called me.
3 days later.
Didn't even leave a message

Me?
I was excited to see the number
Forgot it was ME that emailed HIM
Was all happy
he broke it to me gently

What was that email about?
What emai?
the email that said help.

DAMMIT!!!
I did, didn't I?
grrr, and I thought you called

just because

*ted, just admit it

guitarists I have known?

1. Nick (I thought he actually wrote "Dust in the Wind"
2. Abe (where I got my sting fetish!)
3. Erik
4. Teddy
5. me
ok,ok, let a girl dream
in alphabetical order;
John Denver
Ani DiFranco
Jimi Hendrix
Joni Mitchell
Eddie Van Halen

I mean, those other guys are hot, don't get me wrong, but I have watched them more than I have listened to them, can't give informed opinion.
