Seasoning
1. Quick question on the 16th or 17th of Nov are you guys playing at the Dragonfly again?
Yes. The show is on the 16th.
2. Hey Dave, what kind of pickup is in the bridge position of the strat you used at the Dragonfly gig?
I don't know, the Strat belongs to Isaacs.
3. When you talk about the Key Club show, that's in LA right?
Yes, it is. We will be playing with Doheney and The Tints, Flea's daughter Clara's band.
4. So Lou plays a Tele, huh? I've started to see those on stage more lately. It seems like they're taking on more popularity. Have you ever picked one up? Whaddya think?
I love them. I am using a couple of Teles on the recent recordings we are doing. They really have a lot of character. Each has it's own.
5. Is there any advice you can give on jamming with someone for the first time?
If it is fun, you are in the right direction. If not, move on...
6. Also, whatever became of the Jam session with Eric Avery, if you don't mind the prying?
He is still out with Alanis. I spoke to him yesterday. He is very happy and doing well.
7. Dave, you added anything to ShooT yet in the studio?
No, I am sorry to say that I have not. We have been so crammed lately but I do intend on getting to it.
8. Hey Dave ...wanted to know about kissing Terri Nunn and Carmen's reaction?
Carmen is so secure that she found it sexy. I have known Terri for almost 15 years so it was more "brotherly" than crossing the line. Terri is happily married too.
9. I would like to know if you would actually consider working with John 5, if there would be an appropriate opportunity. Do you actually know each other?
I do know him. There is always a standing Camp Freddy invite for John 5.
10. Juliette and the Licks?
I have never seen the band, but Juliet has played with Camp Freddy a few times and she always out rocks every one of us!

We have an annual pumpkin decorating (no carving) contest at my work every year. I decided not to do it this year but last year I kicked everyone's ass and made a huge Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I have pics but no site to upload them to. Anyone wanna host one so I can share?

In honor of the election Tuesday, here is a joke...
George Bush has a heart attack and dies. He goes to hell where the devil is waiting for him.
" I don't know what to do here," says the devil. "You're on my list but I have no room for you, but you definitely have to stay here, so I'll
tell you what I'm going to do. I've got 3 people here who weren't quite as bad as you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let YOU decide who leaves."
George thought that sounded pretty good, so he agreed.
The devil opened the first room. In it was Richard Nixon and a large pool of water; he kept diving in and surfacing empty handed over and over and over. Such was his fate in hell. "HELL No!" George said. "I don't think so. I'm not a good swimmer and don't think I could do that all day long."
The devil led him to the next room. In it was Tony Blair with a sledgehammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing that hammer, time after time after time. "No! I've got this problem with my shoulder. I would be in constant agony if all I could do was break
rocks all day!" commented George.
The devil opened a third door. In it, George saw Bill Clinton lying on the floor with his arms staked over his head and his legs staked in spread eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, doing what she
does best. George Bush looked at this in disbelief for a while and finally said,
"Yeah, I can handle this."
The devil smiled and said.... "MONICA, you're free to go!"

2 guys, john and steve, have been wandering the desert for days, very very lost! at deaths door, they suddenly spy a tree off in the distance.
As they crawl closer, they make out that the tree is draped with rasher upon rasher of bacon. smoked bacon, juicy bacon, crispy bacon, bacon of all sorts.
"hey, john!" shouts steve, "Look, its a bacon tree!"
"your right!" says john. and he runs ahead towards the tree, salavating. as he gets to the tree sounds of gun fire erupts and John goes down in a hail of bullets.
Steve quickly drops to the sand and yells to his fallen friend, "John, are you okay?"
with his dying breath John calls out, "Run, run! its not a bacon tree. Its a ham bush!"

I finished the book last night. I love the way you end it. I thought the list of 10 reasons not to do drugs was great. I liked the last reason 'because of pgs 1-231.' Sorry if I'm misquoting you. Dave, I notice you wear jeans alot, I was wondering if you have a favorite brand and what store you buy them in? Take care all. Have a great day.

newsflash: just because he took a photo with some other chick doesn't mean he's cheating on carmen. i've got a picture with dave too, it doesn't mean he ate my pussy (unfortunately).
point being, people are dicks, and dave fucking rules.

ylais-
i don't know exactly, i heard an interview w/patton and his version is that bungle was to play a festival w/the chilis, and anthony was like, 'if bungle is playin, i won't be there...' so bungle was bumped off the bill and the chilis played the festival. i don't know what happened that anthony doesn't like patton, if that is even the case.
Posted by: sonicdeath at October 28, 2004 10:56 AM
wasnt the ant/patton thing to do with that anthiny thought patton had copied his style and the chilis or something. Im sure i read that somewhere but dont quote me on that cos im too young to remember stuff that happenend in the early 90s.

Dave,
I saw that you commented when you were younger you were experimenting with different styles and such and mentioned punk. Have you heard or been interested in any modern day emo or punk like The Used? Have you ever gotten into Linkin Park at all? Theyre live in Texas dvd is really well produced and directed - worth checking out if you have a sick surround system. I see what you meant where you said the punk style didnt really grasp you b/c there isnt a lot of solo or lead involved.
Thanks much. Have a great weekend!!

i've just went to the movie 'A Home at the End of the World'..and that was one fucking good movie. anyone else has seen it?
i didn't think it would be this good..i was expecting a sweet movie with predictable twists. but the entire ride home i couldn't really say anything and i was really surprised
it wasn't the best movie i have ever seen, but it took me by surprise
the music plays a big part in it..and they done a great job. i haven't read the book but that doesn't really matter
okay, back to reality..i can't watch horrormovies. they freak me out. i saw 'it' by King when i was 12 and the years after that i was scared of bathrooms. i got over that and i watched 'final destination'..and damn, what is it with bathrooms?!
okay, later everyone, emma (big addams family fan, Wednesday rules)

Crecencia... chew lots of gum and eat a caramel apple today.
Mortisha... HA! Bush sucks Clinton. Bush sucks period. Those of you in PA, Ohio, and Florida (the so-called "swing" states), get yourselves out and vote. Heck, every state, VOTE! PS Long live Monica Lewinsky. Wouldn't we all have done the same thing? Bill's a babe.
Colleen... I'm abstaining!
Jez... I've raised several guys who grew up with single mothers. Ok, sometimes it really felt that way, but seriously, I've mostly dated guys whose fathers had pretty much abandoned them, and left their mothers to fend for themselves financially and otherwise. My current fiancée and ex-boyfriend (all say "huh?") regrets not having a male role-model, but at the same time, as an adult, has the utmost love and respect for his mother. The teenage years were a rough ride for him (and her, I'm sure). I think it may be a very smart thing to let him live with your brother for a bit. I know the separation will be hard, but ultimately, he may come out of it more secure as a man because he has a man to talk to. And we all know, males and females look at the world differently, and it can be the most confusing for a male in his teens trying to understand where he belongs. Believe me, I'm sure your son knows how much you love and miss him, and that will help him to come back when he's ready. It would be worse for him if you were neglectful... which I know you are not at all. I fully support the idea of clinical help... having a mediator will do wonders to open communication lines. Stay strong, lady... and feel free to write if you need an ear.
Mike from NYC... Nashville Pussy kicks ptootie! I have multiples of their recent CD because my boyfriend just left his job at their record label. Ya want one? (Clutter makes me CRAZY!)
So, I could have told you "The Grudge" was gonna suck without seeing it. It was one thing to remake a Japanese horror flick and cast stellar beauty and actress Naomi Watts as the lead ("The Ring"), but Buffy in a REAL horror flick? ("I Know What You Did Last Summer" was not really that horrifying, guys) Not gonna fly. I own the Buffy TV series on DVD, and she's adorable for camp vamp humor... Had I been casting "The Grudge," I would have picked Sarah Polley... but that's just me. Nonetheless, I will be going to see it, because I am drawn like a moth to a flame to bad horror movies.
Oh, and I support the Mike Patton collaboration. I still get all excited when I hear "Falling To Pieces." Have never been able to pinpoint why though.... "somebody put me together"

Hi Dave,
Over the past few years, many American horror films have been remakes of foreign horror films....'The Ring' was the Japanese film 'Ringu' etc. While 'The Ring' is quite scary, 'Ringu' is excellent.
The American film 'The Vanishing' was a remake of the Dutch film 'Spoorloos', which I personally feel was a superior & more chilling film.
Do you enjoy the original films as well as the remakes OR do you not even bother seeing the original foreign versions?
take care,
itanja

i don't think there's been a decent horror flick out since silence of the lambs...which wasn't even as much horrific as it was psychologically thrilling...great movie.
i knew the grudge was going to suck...Sarah Michelle Gellar is a very very talented actress...but aside from her fantastic TV show, she doesn't have talent picking out roles, save for Cruel Intentions. Come on?! scooby-doo?! she knows better...she really is talented...just not when it comes to picking out movies to act in.
the movie i really really want to see is The Machinist with Christian Bale...after seeing (and lovvvvinnng) American Psycho (i really really recommend that movie for anyone) i became a huge fan of his...this movie looks pretty good and thrilling...bale had to lose over 60 pounds for it...he looks pretty horrifying in it...but it looks like a good movie.
and itanja...i loooooved that pic you posted...dave is such a sexy man :-X lol...esp in those boots...very impressive by the way that you were able to stand in them...i own a similar pair in black...everything i own is black lol...thanks for the heads up about The Grudge...i'll wait til it's out on video.

Nightbird---thank you, I know, I never wanted to raise my son to be a "Norman Bates", I love it when he punctuates his statements with phrases like.."I'm a grown-ass man!" I love that girls like him, I just don't like it when those shameless hussies call after Nine!! I know that the fact that I have my OWN self-esteem issues has a trickle down effect on him as well. I never wanted to have kids, I knew I wasn't emotionally equipped. I thought if I could just LOVE him enough, it would be ok. And maybe this isn't the right forum, but I know God is the only one who can truly help us. That's my personal belief, jezebel or no.
I do thank God every day, well, ALMOST, for bringing me here, and meeting all of you guys. ok, enough about me...

Good ideas on stuff for me to eat. I am on the hunt for a caramel apple when I go to lunch.
And for my fav scary movie. Um, let me think. I like the exorcist. I know the Blair witch project was kinda lame but some parts REALLY freak me out. Anything kind of move that f*cks with your head gets to me. When I saw it in San Francisco , I was walking to my car and I passed by a park and used the restroom. I was the only one in there but I start to have a panic attack thinking something was gonna come and get me.

Posted by: Froilan at October 28, 2004 01:30 PM
Oops, sorry Jez... I'll stop calling after 9. (Just kidding!)
Every parent has their own issues that they have to deal with while raising kids. No one begins with a clean slate. I am always amazed when people say things like, "I really need to work on myself before I have kids." The bottom line is, kids happen. And most of the time, they're not planned. Every relationship we enter into, whether it be with unrelateds or offspring or siblings or whatever, we bring to it our own unique history and sets of issues, positive and negative. You may believe that your self-esteem issues have an impact on him, and they may, but your sense of humor and your warmth will also make their mark on him. (I don't know you well enough to comment on too many other positives, but I'm more than sure you have a whole lot.) And believe it or not, he is helping you grow with all of this strain. God is a perfectly positive source to find strength; you will find strength wherever you focus your heart temporarily to deal with the pain. (I know you want desperately to focus on your boy.)

Jezzie~Maybe you should be glad that your son has the balls to leave you for a while. I know this guy who grew up without his father, and he's a complete muppet. He must be close to 30 now, and still living with his mother (well, it's his house but you wouldn't know it because she decides everything) Every time his mother calls his name, he comes running like a puppy who wants a treat. I know not all boys who grows up without a father turns out that way (even his brother didn't) but I'm just saying...Maybe you should be glad that your son isn't afraid to voice his opinion and to slam his fist in the table and deal with it if he thinks there's a problem.

I wanna check it out but I can't find it anywhere. It's not on either play.com or ebay. I'm confused, I thought it was released in sept??

Leaving the nest is good in theory, but not at 15 - The funny thing about being a teenager is that we all think (well, at least I did) that it would be so great to not have to live with our parents. When you finally leave and struggle on our own (again, at least I did) there is that thought of 'What was I thinking?! I had it made and I didn't even know it' - Lessons learned the hard way but, learned nevertheless...

Btw, for you film freaks out there...."the Blair Witch Project' was a blatant rip-off of the much lesser known 'The Last Broadcast', which was made in 1998.
Obviously, 'The Last Broadcast' got very little distribution & marketing hype. It's definitely worth catching the next time it's on IFC, though the ending is quite lame after such a big build up.
Everyone I know who's seen 'The Last Broadcast' thought "The Blair Witch Project' was a rip-off, as the storylines are way too similiar for it to be pure coincidence plus it was made before TBWP.

Dave strikes me as too germ-o-phobic to like being pissed on, but hey, who knows? (I can't believe I just commented on that.)
Posted by: NightBird at October 28, 2004 02:24 PM
Hi NightBird,
You're welcome! Hope you enjoy it, tho I warned about the lame ending! lol
Re the pissing comment from Dave...Dave did say something about that on Howard Stern, unfortunately Stern loves the sound of his own voice yapping non stop, he usually spends 95% of the show talking OVER his guests!
He barely waits for their answers....going off on his own tangent, no wonder he doesn't remember when the guests re-visit his show, he says things like; "You were up here before??" It's all about Stern.
So, I wasn't quite sure what Dave said in reference to the peeing! But he did answer it. lol Guess we'll have to wait for Dave's definitive answer.
take care,

What a perfect thing to come in here and read today...fellow Bush haters! Puts a smile on my face for sure!
Dave,
Thanks for the review of The Grudge. I probably wouldn't have seen it anyway since I can't stand Sarah Michelle Gellar. Buffy is one of my all time favorite shows...I am even a committee member for a Buffy/Angel convention in the Poconos (does that make me a geek? oh well!)...but I have never liked SMG. I might check out The Grudge when it's out on DVD, but I'll spend my $ on something else!
Emma,
Where did you get to see "A Home at the End of the World" at? I am dying to see this movie. I am a huge fan of Harris Allan, who plays Johnathan at age 15. He's on Queer as Folk, which is my favorite tv show ever. I would love to see "A Home at the End of the WOrld" but it seems NOTHING ever happens here in Illinois!
Posted by: Lori_in_IL at October 28, 2004 03:30 PM
Hey Melissa, Nov 1 is for the little angels (babies) that died without sin, and Nov 2 is for rest of us.
Dave i'm doing a "altar de los muertos" and we put pictures of our love ones (dead) at the altar will you mind if i put a picture of your mom next to my mom's picture, it's not witch craft our something like that we just pray for them and celebrate that they are in a better place then us. D If you agree you could send me the pic. at my email.

Lori in IL.... I can't stand SMG either, but I'm deep into Buffy. What's up with that? How does that happen? Joss Whedon, the writer of the show for those who aren't familiar, must be one hell of a puppeteer. But I digress... (I just really wanted to say, "But I digress..."

Mike from NYC... e-mail me your address and I'll send you the disc. I'll ask him if he has any pics, but I don't have any personally. Just to make sure you don't have it already, it's their 2002 release "Say Something Nasty." You a fan of the grrrrrrlz? :-)

Just picked up Guitar World's Guitar Legends #76 Mr Slash!! in it is a list of all of the guitar players who played for GnR. Of everyone listed including Zakk Wylde, Tracii Guns, Brian May and Buckethead,... Dave Navarro is the only one described by the editors as "the man's an exceptional guitarist." Not taking away from anyone else on that list, I'm a huge fan of all of them, but that's a hell of a complement!!!!

Nightbird - I'm a bad horror movie junkie too. IMO, there have only been a few good horror movies in the past few years anyway: The Gift, The Others, The Ring.
My favorite horror movie is The Shining. Laugh wise, I'd have to go with The People Under the Stairs.
I haven't a clue as to what I'm doing and/or dressing up as for Halloween. I was going to be Ed Wood last year, and it never happened, so maybe that's what I'll go as. I like the idea of a woman dressing up as a man dressing up as a woman. Heh. I love dressing up. Once I was Prince for Deena's X-mas party a few years ago. It's kind of funny because our friend A dressed up as Carmen and she was my date :)
My favorite Halloween costume would have to be Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas.
Speaking of pumpkin carving, you should check out http://www.zombiepumpkins.com - especially if you're a Tim Burton/Johnny Depp fan.
Speaking of blogs, a friend of mine and I have a Jane's community on Live Journal: http://www.livejournal.com/users/navarro
Even though we were the first, no one really posts much. It would be cool to see 6767 LJ'ers on there.

Well, it seems there are far more interesting things going on in here while I'm studying accounting (any topic would've passed).
Tele is a killer guitar, I have it also and a Les Paul.
Please people, don't be sexually so pissed that you have to know if someone else likes to get pissed on. I mean, it's clear that one likes the mother, the other the daughter, and there's nothing there for others to say about it. (and me... hmm... me likes both, j/k)
Good luck to CC with the pre-braces gluttony although I don't recommend it. And Jezzi - about the Rod Stewart song... I'd say it had to be Have I Told You Lately :)
And I must add that I also like the Shining and Silence of the Lambs! They're both just marvellous!

NightBird,
You know, I've talked to a lot of people who love Buffy...the show and the character...but don't like SMG. For me it has a lot to do with her attitude towards her fans and fellow cast while she was on Buffy.
Theresa,
Thanks for posting the link to LJ. I am a self-proclaimed LJ Whore. When I am online, that is where a lot of my time is spent. I actually went on a Dave LJ Icon hunting spree the other night. It took me awhile to find some good ones, but damn did I ever! I haven't really felt well the last few days, so I hadn't gotten into my Dave community search yet. You just made the search a whole lot simpler! I am definately joining up right now! My LJ username is DravensCrow by the way!

Hey Everyone!
Just a quick note: Dave was in today's issue of Newsday, in a tiny article about famous folks and who/what they'd like to be for Halloween. Dave's answer was... get this... Anna Nicole Smith. The reason being that he'd like "to know how it feels to be that sexy just for a day."
Anna's a beautiful woman, and she's got the big boobs and all that, but I don't think she's HALF as sexy as Dave is.
(Still, I'd love to see that costume. LOL)
Good night,

I LOVE DAVE NAVARRO!!! He is my all time favorite person in the world!!! I cried when he got married because I knew it meant I would never get a chance with him! but I'm glad he's happy! I still hope that I get a chance to meet him face to face one! thats been my dream since the first time I seen him!!!Carmen is a VERY lucky woman and I'm also a big fan of hers!Maybe by some stroke of luck I'll win some kind of contest where I get to meet both of them!!That would be so awesome! Hi All,
Melissa posted a link to one other shot from this group of photos earlier today. I did a little research & checked the rest of the photos out. They are VERY good! They are backstage & performance shots from the Irving Plaza NYC show.
I figured out that they were taken by a blond girl standing next to me in the pit during the last few songs. As there was only one 'press photog' standing directly near me (he was the annoying loon screaming at the top of his lungs at Gina G & flailing his arms! Very professional). I knew he couldn't have taken these as he wasn't actually onstage, as the blond girl was.
The blond girl was one of two photographers on stage shooting from the sidelines, the other was a male photog (the guy who was at the book signings), I figured she must have been the person to shoot these photos. She really captured the mood & excitement of the Irving Plaza gig.
I love the backstage shots too! Is that Lisa Robinson with Lou Reed? I see that Kirsty Hume joined her husband Donovan in NYC, she's so beautiful, even without makeup! I can't identify everyone....a few models here & there. lol
There's some really interesting stage shots as well as the backstage photos here. I hope mine came out as exciting as these.
Melissa, if you are the photog, these shots are great!
Enjoy!

Guys, even if it's a joke, and I do love jokes and joke around lots myself~think about what the press could do with certain topics.
And think about Dave's and Carmen's marriage.
Also, the "golden shower" subject that was on Howard Stern. Howard's show is about joking around, and people know that and it is taken as such. It was a jokey sequence.

5am and I'm awake again. I had a groggy thought. Six words from Dave about The Grudge set off conversation about horror flicks for the rest of the day. (We'll just forget about the tangential comments regarding cheating and "golden showers.") I'm sure Dave wouldn't keep this site going if he weren't entertained by what we write back and forth to each other, BUT... it's gotta get a little boring for him at certain points. It's thrilling (ah yes, thrilling) to read Dave's answers to our (redundant) questions, but I propose to him a reversal of exchange, or rather, opening up the floor to our answers to questions of his choice, too, on top of his answers to ours. Then, at least, he guarantees that when he tunes in to our little world presided over by him, he has some definite interest in the topics at hand. Sort of a "Tawk amongst yourselves" type of Linda Richman thing... Whatcha think? Am I just spewing groggy garbage or am I on to something?

Hey guys or gal's i should say, ya'll are really sweet. Love how this board is void of pretentiousness. So rare these day's...since this thread will be about locked up when D wakes up later, I'll keep this short, and just say thanks again ladies. I love ya all too. Ohhhhh btw, I got my Velvet Revolver tix yesterday! Gonna make a day trip out of it, since we're going to Philly to see them. Anyone from or near Philly on hear and want to hang out????? I'm sure this VR show will be wonderful, but in a much different way then when i saw them at the 9:30 Club before the album was out. Now, they have a few hits, people know the song's, and they're polished and in full on routine. Personally, I prefer the intimacy and rawness of a club gig (as i'm sure we all do), but I'll watch VR anywhere...i'd even consider a trip to baghdad for that, but i think TPC would need to be playing there too, to make it a definite. Bye for now fam...everyone be safe and keep on rockin'...
Posted by: Adrock at October 29, 2004 07:15 AM
On the VR subject, was anyone else at the Starland Ballroom (NJ) gig last July? The ceiling was literally dripping after the show. We were right up at the stage in front of Duff, we got there early and met him and Slash. I agree w/Adrock about the intimacy, you can't beat it--that's why I loved the Irving Plaza CF show. I am waiting for VR to swing back thru the NY metro area now...
