hey melissa, you're more then welcome here! when i first wrote a post everyone was so sweet, this is a great place to find out about when you're a musiclover especially if you dig Dave! -hope i'm not writing something weird with that phrase, thought i'd just give it a try-
hey everyone who's going to the NYC camp freddy show, have a great time! please take lots of pictures, that would be awesome ;)
i'm having another big fight with my sister so i'm glad everyone here is so excited about the show, makes me feel happy

Emily...your excitement has been so contagious...I am really excited for you...I know you will have a killer time at the show!
Eric...I've been looking for that info...thank you very much!!!
Emma...I have a VERY volatile older Sister...the whole family constantly walks on egg shells with her and the slightest thing sets her off...then, watch out! I can so relate to your posts....I really hope you don't let it get you down. I know it's tough but I've learned with my Sister that she apparently wants everyone to be as miserable as she is and I refuse to play that game. Plus, I just tell myself she is mentally ill and can't help herself! ;)
The only reason I do the "walk on eggshells" thing is because, when she gets mad at me, she often won't let me have any contact with my Nephews, who I love dearly and am very close to (have no children of my own and never will).
Anyway....chin up Sweetie...it will blow over.

thank you so much cori, that helped, i feel a lot better. it's always good if someone says 'chin up'. it's such a small thing to say but it helps, don't know how. maybe the feeling that someone read your post and is ready to share his or her experience
my parents aren't home this entire week and i was looking forward to be alone, cook my own meals, do the dishes when i want to and so on. but she won't go home and she is controling everything here.
i walk on eggshells as well, just so everything stays calm and we won't get a fight..which doesn't works because sometimes frustrations have to come out..
you're sweet. good luck with your sister and i hope things will work out and you will keep on seeing your nephews. it's good to be so close to them, i'm sure they love you dearly and you'll see them a lot.
good night everyone, emma

Emma and Cori, if I could have picked my sisters ,they would have been much like you. But, alas...they are not, and that's all I have to say about that(Forrest Gump voice)
Cori, you are always the voice of calm and reason here, I love the fact that every time you post something, I can relate to it...
and Emma, oh Emma, I can't wait till you decide to take a trip to the states, I will be your official hostel..
We can't choose our family, but we are bound by a sense of duty to support them, at least that's what I think.
I am thinking of the White Christmas movie, memmer,

there never were such devoted sisters

Hey Dave,
Spent a rainy (very unusual for LA) Sunday finishing your book. I couldn't put it down. I liked how in the end, you took responsibility for your actions and learned from your experince. It got me thinking how all of us, not just addicts, think that it is everyone else's actions that keep us in the place we are in. How hard it is to see how our own actions manifest the life we create. I am happy you are in the place that you are in now and have found your way thru "the mud". We all create our own "mud" and as we learn from it, we mold ourselves into the "perfect being" that we are and always have been. Thanks for sharing your story.
Namaste,
Sally

Hey, Peeps!
Hey, Dave!
What´s up? :)
Sounds like you´re bound to have some serious fun in the Big Apple, huh?
F*cking great! Rock on!
love from
Luiz.
PS: Hey, BTW - I just found this old MP3 file of my band, back from 97 and I thought some some you peeps out there might be interested.
It´s me on vocals, as usual. Care to check it out...?
http://www.geocities.com/luizmarcondesblog3/Shadow.mp3
lyrics are in Enlglish and I wrote them myself (that´s probably why they don´t make much sense! - lol - but come to think of it, that might be a good thing in a "trippy" rock and roll context such as this...)
e-mail me as much as you want afterwards...

constructive criticism is always valid and welcome!

I really truly hope the best for you and your band mates! You are and always have been, one of my top guitarists..up there with Beck and Hendrix of course Rhodes! Thank you for all the postive vibes you send to us. BIG HUG! Keep up the good work and keep giving us more great music!

Hey Dave, it's Justin (e-mailed you weeks ago about doing an interview, I'll try in a couple months maybe you'll have some free time then). I checked out your Spread project, and I have "Trust No One"... I recognized the shared songs but was blown away how much better the production is on TNO, and your singing. Did you take any singing lessons? Could you elaborate some on Spread vs TNO (for instance who produced Spread?)
Thanks and oh btw... you have recently become partial inspiration for me to begin working out - I started today and saw a fox during my jog :D - thanks Dave!

safe travels, perk & dave :)
can't wait to meet everyone at the lemon bar. i actually partied there last summer with some "yalies" haha it's pretty cool. and if you're underage, the park avalon across the street doesn't card- we used to go there before we turned 21. it's because it's classy, they don't id there haha
went to the yanks game last nite. great seats but the outcome sucked. i REALLY hope the 'curse' isn't reversed this year- though it would suck being the most pathetic team in baseball for the past 86 years, boston. whatever happens- if ny or boston progresses- neither will likely win the series. the alcs is the real series & whichever team goes on is gonna be so tired & restless while stl or houston will be refreshed & doe-eyed since they haven't gone this far in forever. but, i have a strange feeling the bronx bombers will be able to push through against the odds- let's just hope the fall classic's umps aren't as anal as they were last nite.

Well, Ellen, my biggest fear is that the Ump's paranoia about the fans, will incite the cops in the riot gear, which will incite the fans, which will mess with the players' heads....Can't the boys just have some fun?
I'm with you, the ALCS IS the series, just like the AFC and NFC championship games ARE the Super Bowl, but those are some mighty fine good looking men out there, and Kurt Schilling ROCKS!!!

Saw an old interview with Ray Charles on 60 Minutes the other night. He mentioned that taking heroin was something he did cause he enjoyed it at the time, but he did not think it aided him in writing music.
I thought that kind of echoed what Dave was saying earlier (last couple weeks). -2 cents

happy wednesday people!
So yesterday I signed up with another temp agency and already got a call back from someone interested... it's downtown and pays a bit more than I'm earning now and I will be setting up an interview probably for Friday.
Also went to Anthony's book signing.. i'll post more about that on my blog later tonight. Needless to say I left grinning like an idiot.. haha
I got my dead bride halloween costume while out was out in westwood village... they have a great store (Ahs) there with lots of good halloween stuff. I was in there forever, I love those kinds of things!
My birthday get-together will be at the Rainbow on Sunset... more about that later.
I'm going out of town for the weekend and the next few days are going to be a bit crazy so I won't be around for a while.
I'll catch you guys later!

Yes, I am having a crisis, it is about 15 years old, 5'10", and full of attitude....(I don't want to go to school, I don't want to get good grades, I have a hard time focusing ,and I am the class clown!)
Where did he get that from?
Prayer...prayer helps...prayer is good, and that two or more thing, that's a given...so, any of you peeps want to say a prayer for this mother and child, I would be more than grateful...

Jez, you have a 15-year-old? Holy cow... all this time, I thought you were talking about a kid no older than, like, 10, at most. You just struck me as a youngun'... not at all old enough to have a teenager. Wow... bless you, woman! It ain't easy being the parent of a 15-year-old (just ask my parents). And jeez, he's tall for his age, isn't he? PS There are worse things than being the mom of the class clown... From experience, the class clown tends to have more friends and goes further in life because people like them. I think he has a bright future, despite the lack of academic drive. Don't worry too much about him, but hey, you will... cuz you're his mum. :-)

Hey Dave
Firstly, I just wanted to say that I love all of the amazing body work you have had done. Secondly, I just wanted to know how Carmen feels about it? I mean, I know that she is your wife and she will be suportive of anything that you choose to do, but does she really like them and think that they make you more attractive, or does she "like them" because its a part of you and that's what she sees. Ya know what im saying? Does she encourage all the body painting?

well good evenin' to everyone! i'm having a wonderful wednesday, i've had a great day with a friend so i'm feeling a lot better then the last couple of days. it rained all day and i got soaked and cold and i'm sneezing a lot so that's not a good sign, but who cares...i've ordered DTTAH and scar tissue AND i'm feeling better! HA
i was wondering, what do you guys think of a tattoo in the neck, above the spine? is it a painful place to get the first one done? i was thinking curles, not-existing figures that follow the shapes of the body, really thin lines. my parents will hate it so i want to hear your thoughts on it.

Nightbird,I know, it's some kind of weird Gilmore Girls relationship we got goin'! He is just trying to exert his independence, find his place, his niche as it were, and the Girls!!!!!!BITCHES (in my best Andy Dick voice)
It's hard to be a parent when you aren't a grown up yourself, he didn't come with ANY training!!! There are NO BOOKS!!! Believe me, I have read them all, and what makes it a bit different is that he is a boy without a male figure, and a pretty strong mom, so, I need to let him be a MAN!!, I'm sure it will be ok, it's just I thought it would be easier when he learned to feed and dress himself!

Jezebel,
My gosh, how I sympathize with you. I'm not a parent but I was parented by the best. My parents held the line with us. As much as I hated and resented them for it at the time, I'm so glad they did. My friends who's parents were more their 'friend' than their parent didn't learn the lessons that they needed to as teenagers. As adults, they are very irresponsible because they never had to be.
And then there is always "Kids will be kids..."
My thoughts are with you
Melissa :)

Jezzi- 15yr old boys....hmmm well they can be a mess. I remember. it was a while ago but not so long that I don't remember. I remember that I was tough on my parents but they just let me know they were there for me. I would act like I didn't care but I did. In a big way. good luck.

jez- i agree. i was scared seeing those armed guards last nite! (gulp) though the fans (inappropriate unsportsman-like fans) chucked debris onto the field. so i could see the concern, but still v. scary for us normal peeps! but unless the calls were horrifyingly illegitimate, which they weren't (which i HATE to admit), it would've gotten ugly- fo' sho.
i think that schilling was actually one of those bastard diamondbacks pitchers back in '01...we besta not succumb to the suckly NL teams!!!
let the best man win, i say ;)
(but that man, better be decked in pinstripes!)

Hey Emma,
I'm all about tattoos. I, myself am getting my next tattoo on the nape of my neck. From what I hear from a tattoo artist friend if mine, and also from some friends (female) who have tattoos just below the neck, between the shoulders, it's supposed to actually feel REALLY good. On women only. Men don't have the same reaction to that particular spot. Plus it's a pretty dicreet place to have a tattoo, which adds to the mystique and sex appeal! Well, that's my opinion anyway! Good luck with whatever you decide. I'll let you know how mine turns out.

FOR LA PEOPLE:
does anyone know of a good restaurant near Wilshire & Western (near the Wiltern Theater) that has good, cheap food and beer? i'm not from the LA area and we want to find a good place to eat and drink before the CF show Saturday night.
Thanks!

THIS IS A PERFECT MOMENT
This is a perfect moment.
It's a perfect moment for many reasons, but especially because you and I are waking up from our sleepwalking thumbsucking dumbclucking collusion with the masters of illusion and destruction.
Thanks to them, from whom the painful blessings flow, we are waking up.
Their wars and tortures,
their crimes against nature,
extinctions of species
and brand new diseases.
Their spying and lying
in the name of the father,
sterilizing seeds and
trademarking water.
Molestations of god,
celebrations of shame,
stealing our dreams and
changing our names.
Their ingenious commercials
and bloodsucking hustles,
their endless rehearsals
for the end of the world.
Thanks to them, from whom the painful blessings flow, we are waking up.
•
Their painful blessings are cracking open more and more gashes in the shrunken and crippled mass hallucination that is mistakenly called "reality." And through the fractures, ripe eternity is flooding in; news of the soul's true home is pouring in; our allies from the other side of the veil are swarming in: inspiring us to become smarter and wilder and kinder and trickier.
We are waking up.
As heaven and earth come together, as the dreamtime and daytime merge, we register the shockingly exhilarating fact that we are in charge--you and I are in charge--of creating a brand new world. Not in some distant time or faraway place, but right here and right now.
•
As we stand on this brink, as we dance on this verge, we can't let the ruling fools of the dying world sustain their curses. We have to rise up and fight their insane logic; defy, resist, and prevent their tragic magic; unleash our sacred rage and supercharge it.
But overthrowing the living dead is not enough. Protesting the well-dressed monsters is not enough. We can't afford to be consumed with our anger; can't be obsessed and possessed with their danger. Our sweet animal bodies need love and fertility. Our imaginations crave tastes of infinity.
In the New World that we are creating, we've got to be steeped in lusty compassion and ecstatic duty, ingenious love and insurrectionary beauty. We need radical curiosity and reverent pranks, voracious listening and ferocious thanks.
•
So I'm curious, my fellow creators. Since you and I are in charge of making a brand New World, where do we begin? What wild truths do we want at the heart of our transformations? What fresh codes and stories will be our oracles? What crafty questions and uplifting desires will be our inspirations?
Here's where I want to begin: with pronoia. Pronoia is the opposite of paranoia--the antidote for paranoia.
Pronoia is the true theory that all of creation is conspiring to shower you with blessings.
Pronoia is the guarantee that life always gives you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.
Pronoia says that everything alive is working very hard to liberate you from ignorance and transform you into the gift of love you were born to be.
•
I am allergic to dogma. I thrive on questions, and don't trust any idea that tempts me to believe in it absolutely. There are very few perceptions or theories about which I am totally certain.
But I am absolutely certain that pronoia describes the way the world actually is. Pronoia is wetter than water, truer than the facts, and stronger than death. It smells like cedar smoke in early spring rain, and if you close your eyes right now, you can feel it shimmering like the aurora borealis in your soft, warm animal body.
Some Buddhists say the inherent nature of existence is suffering; they long to escape into nirvana. Many Catholics say the inherent nature of life is sinful; they long for the purified peace of heaven. But pronoia assures us that the inherent nature of life is to liberate us.
Being born on the earth is the highest honor and greatest privilege. To be alive as human beings gives us the chance to pull off exquisite and Herculean feats of magic that are not possible in nirvana or heaven or any other so-called paradise, higher dimension, or better place.
I'm not exaggerating or indulging in poetic metaphor when I say this. Visualize it if you dare.
The sweet stuff that quenches all of our longing is not far away in some other time and place. It's right here and right now.
As Elizabeth Barrett Browning knew, "Earth is crammed with heaven."
