NY x 2
I am leaving for the Island of Manhattan today. I am really looking forward to it as I love New York so much. What's even better is that Anthony will be out there at the same time promoting his book, Scar Tissue. Can't wait to see him, he has been a great friend throughout this process. For those of you who are interested in the DTTAH signings, check the Calendar of Events that has been created by Deena13 in the links section. I don't think we have decided on a definitive way of standing out to one another, X's, pins, "hello my name is...", 67's, but I'm sure if we do one or all of the above we will be straight. Camp Freddy Radio last night was so much fun. We debuted Shoot, the online jam and collaboration. How cool is that? What started as a little idea has now reached the masses. Technology is amazing. Many thanks to FreAk, Saraswati, Kyle and chickbassplayer for their hard work and follow through. When I get back, we should start over and do a new one. We could, eventually have an entire album. That would be a first! Tempos any one? A quick bite about my book to parents: It is intended for mature readers. Now that it is coming out on Tuesday, I thought I should make that clear. It is a tale about the transformation from dark to light. The whole project has become something I really wasn't aware it would be, a story of hope. Here is the organization that the proceeds go to support: M.A.P. They have done so much for the recovery community, including several close friends of mine. This project started out as a simple book of photo strip images but now, the images are secondary to the story and really have nothing to do with it. The images now just serve as eye candy throughout the book. I will check in from the hotel lobby computer. I don't travel with a laptop. Have a great Sunday. Thank you for being here.
Dave

Have a great time in NY, Dave. We'll be here when you get back...& when you post from your destination. I hope all goes well with the signings. I wish I could have been there, but I'm happy for everyone else. Take care! -Karina

Have a great trip Dave!
All of you going to the signing tomorrow...have a great time :)

Slubby---you can always email to dave@panicchannel.com or mail@panicchannel.com
Freak and White Pony both have links on right side of page where you can contact them directly for more info...you just have to be patient, as they don't always get back to you right away
Dave---while you are in New York--buy more HATS!! They look hot!
Where do you and Carmen like to go out for dinner or entertainment in New York? Have you ever checked out any of the 'alternative clubs', like Cake, or the goth one with the Drama Faces on the door, I can't remember what the name of it was, was there two years ago...
Have fun!!!! My cheesy suggestion is to take Carmen for a carriage ride through Central Park, or to stop in front of Dakota to pay respects...

Welcome back to the EAST!
You are lucky that you have missed the storms that have been plaguing us. Wish the City was closer, would love to have come for the signing. And thank you for your note about it being for mature audiences. I can handle it, but I don't think my 8 year old would.
Stay real, and will catch you on the telly!

I am so happy for both you and Anthony! I really admire what you're doing.. and I'm behind ya 100%!
I'm going to your and Anthony's book signings.
Have a good trip!
Funny enough, Anthony is on Conan O'brien on Weds, and on Friday Dave is on Conan late at night and Anthony is on Regis and Kelly in the morning. Thursday Anthony is on Howard Stern, Dave's doing Howard tomorrow.
phew, a lot to keep up with!

Dave, glad to see 6767.com back in action! I've been a fan for a number of years and really wanted to take this time to say something very important and meaningful to me that I really hope you will read.
I started playing guitar for three reasons: I loved music, needed an outlet for my emotions, and you. After listening to One Hot Minute and watching you play live, I was incredibly inspired and for months begged my father to buy my first guitar (he did eventually, a Fender Strat for my 13th birthday). Around this time, my parents were going through a nasty divorce and my sole outlet and saviour was music and learning to play that damn guitar. Over the years, my father descended back into drugs and alcohol after staying clean for 16 years. He isolated, didn't clean his apartment for a year, had debt out the nose, and binged out on pills, coke, alcohol. Nothing in my personal life seemed to be going well between my parent's problems (dad's addictions, mom's lack of interest), my drug addled drop out friends, bad relationships with girlfriends, etc. I myself developed the family habit during these years. No one could see beneath my cool and calm "everything's fine" happy go lucky demeanor, I hid it well as things progressed worse. No matter what though, I could always pick up my guitar and pour my heart out into it.
Eventually I OD'd on a rare form of psychedelic meth and woke myself up to what I needed to change in my life. I started eating right, excercising, doing yoga (something I shunned as BS for years, now I'm enamored with it), got rid of some of my so called friends, and cleaned up my life. Sadly, my father couldn't do the same and he died of alcohol/drug induced heart failure last year. I had stopped speaking to him in his last months because, well, it's hard to keep a conversation with a drunk person telling his only son that he wants to die. Myself and my family had already done more than we could to save him, but it's impossible to save someone who doesn't have any desire to save themselves. But I kept sober even after something so devastating, and I kept on playing. My life managed to stay on the right track. I just turned 20 and couldn't be happier that I'm healthy and doing what I want to do in my life - going to art school and recording a solo album!
My point in this already too long message is that I'm not sure where I would be if I didn't have that guitar that I decided to start playing because of you. To be quite honest, after reading/watching a number of interviews with you and learning what happened in your family, why you started playing, why you kept on playing, and how you made it out of the darkest periods in your life...it really did help me to keep on going. I'm not the type of person who cares for celebrities at all (can't stand the whole celebrity obsessive culture), but aside from your enormous and inspirational talent...you've been able to open a lot of deep wounds for others to relate to and heal with.
I just wanted to say thank you for being so open all these years, because it really has helped a lot of people out. I'm not saying "I'm here because of you" or anything like that, I'm still alive because I wanted to change things for the better and did. But it really helps to have a great soundtrack along the way and some inspiration from people you admire. Until I can say this in person at your NYC book signing, I'll say it here: Thank you Dave.
- Sean
P.S. Sorry, didn't intend this to be so long and take up so much space here!

GEORGE CARLIN'S WISDOM
The paradox of our time in history is that we have
taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider
freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more,
but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have
bigger houses and smaller families, more
conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees
but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment,
more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but
less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too
recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get
too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read
too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our
values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate
too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years. We've
been all the way to the moon and back, but have
trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've
done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We
write more, but learn less. We plan more, but
accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to
wait. We build more computers to hold more
information, to produce more copies than ever, but
we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow
digestion, big men and small character, steep
profits and shallow relationships. These are the
days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier
houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick
trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one
night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do
everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a
time when there is much in the showroom window and
nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can
bring this letter to you, and a time when you can
choose either to share this insight, or to just hit
delete.
Remember, spend some time with your loved ones,
because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to
you in awe, because that little person soon will
grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you,
because that is the only treasure you can give with
your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and
your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and
an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep
inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for
someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak, and give time
to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we
take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Hey Dave...have a great time in New York! We will miss you for sure, and peeps going to the book signing...full report, please! :D
Dave, I just finished "Scar Tissue" last night and was so surprised to learn that you were, at least in part, inspiration for the song "Scar Tissue"...very interesting...did you already know that???
Sean...thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us, your "story" (for lack of a better word) is very touching and, no worries...you certainly did not take up too much space with such inspiration.
Happy Sunday Family...I'm off to put up my wonderful, scary and fun Halloween decorations (I love Halloween!)
Peace!

morning all... well, technically, it's still morning.
so i say "sky captain and the world of tomorrow" last night. was all right. very visually pleasing... funny, i was thinking of the phrase "eye candy". i guess, so was Dave. anyway, best part of the movie was Angelina Jolie's character... she's so hot. and she wasn't even in it for very long. not really a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow... anyway, all in all, worth seeing it on the big screen. very retro.
SNL premiered last night. really blew. that show goes through stages. i miss the early 90's. saw Mean Girls friday night. Tina Faye's first non-SNL attempt. pretty cute.
hey, jezzi & Abby - did you happen to see my post about "groupies"? i was just wondering your opinions. are we "groupies"? thank you to those of you who commented. i feel a little better about it now. you know, and i thought about it... to have groupies (in the negative sense of the word), a musician has to be somewhat of a partier. but Dave's more domestic now... remember Almost Famous? "we are not groupies, we are bandaids!" the difference... "no sex, only blow jobs" HA! i love that movie.
still bummed i missed CFR and hoping (fingers crossed) Freak will have a recording of the show up soon...

Hey, Sean_IX
Thanks for sharing your story with us. I have been through some pretty dark stuff myself and many times I thougt I wouldn´t make it. But I - like yourself - did.
I´m always amazed by how strong the desire to LIVE and to LOVE can be in people... People like Dave and yourself, for instance. I love to hear their tales. It brings me hope to see that you can see it through and overcome all kinds of obstacles (both inside and outside of you) if you REALLY want to. Nothing can ever beat the human spirit once it decides on the correct path to follow. It´s indeed wonderful to see people rising from their ashes like that, truly inspiring.
As Nick Drake once wrote in a song: "darkness can give the brightest light". So I´d like to thank you for sharing your beautiful light with us, Sean. Know that your struggle was not in vain. It made you a better person. And I bet your father would be proud of you, man. God bless.

Dave, i had the exact same idea about an online album lastnight after CFR. i was actually gonna bring it up today.
i think we should make about 8 songs, not necessary the same people that recorded shoot, new people, maybe the same people doing something different or the same as they did on shoot, and we get you to add something on each song Dave, and then we try marked it as an album. we actually try record an online album. i mean i think we made history lastnight for creating a song over the internet, but why stop there, why not make history by creating an online album?
is taht a good idea or a terrible idea?
Dave, are you gonna add some guitar to shoot?
if we should make a new online song, how about a slow song, how about a soppy sad song, slow tempo???
stay well family!

Hi All
Sean,Your post rang many bells with me,i'm also from a broken home,my parents also had a very bitter divorce,i won't go into details but things happened during and after that time that will stay in my mind forever,if only to serve as a warning to not make similar mistakes.
Neither of my parents we're into drugs but i did fall under its spell, again won't go into details, its in the past and thats where it'll stay.
I was under the illusion i was coping with the situation but subconciously i wasn't and it bit me in the ass years later and all hell broke loose.
And yep,my guitar was my anchor through my dark and low points,i know i'm in a really bad state if i can't channel it out through music.
I've a good life now though, not the one i thought i'd have but good all the same.
Anyways just to say i recognised elements of parts of my life in your post.
Hey is everyone good today?

sean, a story of hope is never to long. there are more than a few of us here that can relate. and we are here for you if ever need. I know several people on this board have been there for me and I try to be there for others. and of course Dave is amazing.
there has been a lot of talk of history, and though I think that what we are doing is unique, I know other songs that have been put togeather over the internet by people in different countrys. however I don't know of an entire album being done like this by people who have never met! so let's get rollin. mabey we can take a drum loop and who ever creates it can just tell us what the tempo is.
I've got a couple of more things in my life I must take care of first, but then I'm hooking up my recording stuff to my computer. I'm so looking forward to this.
DAVE... ROCK NYC!!!

Hiya everyone; back from that wedding. I've just finished reading all the posts, and comments.
So happy CF went well on Saturday; and sorry I missed it and the airing of Shoot.
Did anyone tape the show? At least just the Shoot part? I would love to hear it.
I was thinking about that while I was at the wedding. I'm proud of you guys.
Great idea for an album, and for more people to get involved on that. Maybe we'd get a variety of music too that way. Anyway, I'm up for anything, and supportive of anything that fosters people's creativity, and working/playing together. I look at creativity as playing! :D
Dave suggested putting X's on you, like tape an X on. So go with that guys, or Wendybird, did you say you were getting buttons (X's?). I think I got slightly lost in the comments, there were so many. But hey, if Dave said tape an X on, go with it.
It doesn't go with my outfit isn't such a good excuse! :P I'd put X's all over myself if I were going!!! I thought it was funny, how everyone had their own ideas about identifying themselves as a 6767/TPC fan. (Lol, and for the record I suggested stamping 6767 on your forehead first! :P I did. I was joking a bit of course)
Enjoy NYC Dave!
Love to all

Your message of choice has really set me and possibly others on the right path and has destroyed that "glamour" effect towards drug use (and I haven't even read it yet!). thank you and I REALLY hope I get to see you tomorrow. Would I be able to get a REALLY quick picture of you tomorrow while you sign my copy by any chance (wouldn't want to lag the lines finding out on the spot...)

Maria~are you involved in PR for Anthony Kiedis? I am asking that honestly.
Posted by: ylais at October 3, 2004 07:57 PM
Hiya, me again. Apologies for so many posts. I have just read something which I consider irresponsible journalism, and I am considering replying to the article.
First I want to check if I have my information correct.
Dave's book was originally going to be released in 2001 correct?
Dave was writing his book, under another name, before Anthony Kiedis wrote his book at all?
If anyone else would like to help me compose this letter, maybe it will even turn into an article, I don't know really, see how it comes out, then let me know.
I'll give the link of the article to anyone who is genuinely interested and is a 6767/TPC er. :D

"Maria~are you involved in PR for Anthony Kiedis?"
nope, I'm just a fan. but I definitely wouldn't mind doing that! I keep up religiously with with what the RHCP and Dave are up to, though.
And yes, I believe Dave's book was started and put on hold before Anthony's was written.
Hook me up with the article you consider irresponsible journalism and maybe we can figure something out.
Thanks to those who have shared their stories. Bless you all, I wish you nothing but the best.

oh and as far as being 'groupies' goes.. balderdash.
that word comes with stereotypes that we'll do things like flash our boobs to get backstage and go down on the band members without hesitation. I personally do not want to be associated with that. The only thing we do is go to the shows and events to show support for our favorite rockers and rock out to the music that we like and have a good time. That doesn't seem much like groupie behavior to me!
We may seem a little extreme in our following at times, but it's better to be passionate about something than nothing at all I always say. As long as it doesn't escalate to an unhealthy obsession of course. Because lord knows there are some troubled folks out there...

For those asking about Dave's book & when it was started:
Yes, Dave's book was originally going to be released around 2001, but he started it long before that.
I think the original title was actually SPREAD.
The original layout comps for the book design were also up at the BAU-DA Design Lab website, then taken down when the book was held up.
Dave also did many interviews in conjunction with the books original release date. The magazine articles also featured some photos of the book design & some excerpts.

Yo D, take your "sidekick" so you can communicate at all times! JK...anyway, good luck with everything. Pretty cool to hear how your relationship with Anthony has evolved. One thing i've noticed about you, is the pattern of, when one of your relationship's seem's to dissolve for whatever reason, it's rarely a permanent thing...i guess it's the love and forgiveness in your heart that enable's such a level of commitment to frienship...so how about adding a signing somewhere other than NY or LA....how about D.C.???? (since i know Baltimore is out of the question)....

What up peeps, now I have to agree with Adrock about coming to DC.....since Baltimore is outta the question!
How hot that would be to see u in DC again!! Peace

I am so excited for all the 6767 peeps, that get a chance to see Dave first!! Please, please, share the play by play action, and pics would be nice too!
To my local girls that are going to Musicland tomorrow to get a wristband, if you are still there at 7, I will take you to Gladstone's....

Anyone else find it funny that Dave uses the hotel lobby computer to post messages on the road? I can see that whole scene:
Mom, Dad, 4 kids, strollers, toys etc. on line to check in at the hotel saying, "Sorry, little Susie, you'll have to wait for that strange man to get off the computer before you can go to Barbie.com"
[You don't want to be carrying the laptop cross country, but I usually don't see guys like Dave in the lobby at the public computer. Beautiful.]

If you're in new york, get your butts on over to the book store so you can get a band/ticket to get access to the signing later tonight.
Tomorrow those of us in LA will be buying the book and getting what we need for acess to the book signing. The book signing is next week the 12th.

heehee! give Anthony a big hug for me (: New York is awesome, I've only been there once and it was only for four days but I loved it there, I'd perhaps like to move out there one day although I doubt I ever will... it's just something I'd like to do, I can't see any way of it actually happening though. oh well.
have fun, Dave! (:

Hey DN Family,
If you are going to the Astor Place Barnes & Noble book signing on Monday here is some info. I called the store and they said that they will be handing out bracelets at 11am for the 7:30pm signing. My suggestion is to get them early and start the line. We could watch each others spot in line when one of us has to go to the potty.
I hope to see a lot of you tomorrow. I don't remember who made the suggestion the other day, but it would be a good idea if we wear "my name is..." tags on our shirts and have "6767" written in black ink or marker on our hands (not palms) .

i mean *access*.. typo
I missed some of the beginning of Howard (I was in an introduction meeting, we have a new manager) but caught most of it. The time I said was way off, and I apologize for that. Little did I know this morning right before Dave was going to come on 97.1 cut off the live stream and started the whole show from the beginning so he ended up coming on around 9:15 or 9:30.
I have to give Carmen kudos, she was actually considering having Savannah come over!
that show's a trip!

Musicland will give you a band/ticket and at Book Soup your receipt will be your pass for DN book signing. (call for info)

Good Morning:
Hope all is well for everybody and the (Panic Channel Ladies-Jezzi, Cassandra, Abby, Sarah etc of course.) Just wanted to say "hi." Jezzi- I appreciate your offer about going to the book signing and to the Camp Freddy show. Unfortunely, I can't get up to LA to see Dave. I'm actually going to see my sister in Utah, get my tattoo finished (remember that conversation) and visit some friends I haven't seen in a long time. What is cool, is that besides doing Disability Law back in day-Utah, before I moved to SD. I also worked as a Detox Tech at VOA in SLC at nights. Actually, I worked two jobs, at 7 days a week, for 6 or 7 months, just to save up for the big move to surf in Cali. What I look forward to is that I will drop in say hello, drop off cloths, and cigs for the people detoxing and say hello to staff and some of the people who I remember that are back in the community doing well. It's crazy how everybody here has similiar pasts/issues/posts here, all of us in a strange way have alot in common. Anyway, Jezzi -let me know how it's going. I won't be able to make it to the Camp Freddy show either-I'm booked out this month representing people. Have a great and beautiful day people!

Germ-phobes, beware:
Lisa - At the very beginning of his spot on Stern today, Howard's crew noted that Dave didn't wash his hands after using the men's room. (!) Howard just shrugged it off like, "That's Dave. That's rock & roll. What do you expect?"
I didn't hear the rest of the interview, so I don't know if Dave had a valid explanation.
Just be careful when you shake his hands. LOL. Although some of you might like that kind of thing. ;)
Posted by: Denise at October 4, 2004 12:16 PM
hey gang-
to those who didn't know about the wristbands before now, i don't think it's going to be a problem. i called barnes about an hour ago & they said the majority of bands are still available since people are working/schooling...so don't worry. (aka i'm trying to convince myself not to worry!!)

"I didn't hear the rest of the interview, so I don't know if Dave had a valid explanation"
I heard the interview but didn't really hear Dave respond in any way....sometimes difficult with so many peeps talking at once.
At any rate...I thought the whole thing sounded a bit fishy....I've always heard that Dave is "Mr. Clean-Freak" and has OCD so, the story didn't ring true to me.

Blanca--I have said this before, and I will say it again, thank you so much for the pleasure of your acquaintance, truly, you are the best thing about this site, ok, Dave is still my favorite, but, I don't know, it's pretty close. Te amo, mi hermana bonita...

Does anybody have today's Howard Stern show, streamed or for download anywhere?

I checked out the "Vote for Change" concert in Toledo. I saw Pearl Jam. I have seen them 5 times now and that was by far the best show I have ever seen. they played from 9:25pm-11:50pm. Neil Young came out after 1 1/2 hrs and played with them. what a great show. if anyone else gets to check them out int he other states. I highly recommend it. They are playing only 6 shows. Amazing.

DAVE- I read the book in less than 4 hours and all I can say is Wow. The book is truly amazing and well worth the wait. I laughed about how Carmen leaves her pop cans all over....my fiance does the same. Of course you learn to live it with like you say. Dave did you really pee on Carmen?
Posted by: ylais at October 4, 2004 06:34 PM
Hey everyone!
First and foremost, I really want to thank everyone for their extremely kinds words in response to my personal experiences posted way up there. It's a really cool positive reinforcement. I wish I'd found out 6767.com was back up weeks ago, it seems I've missed out on a lot! I'll definetly be contributing to the Loop Experiment and perhaps sending in some art! This is one of the most personable and creative communities going, you all rock!
ONTO THE BOOK SIGNING EXPERIENCE!
Got there at 12:30 AM on a lunch break to pick up the wristbands! Came back at 5:30 after class to get in line. Surprisingly, I was the third person there. I met Rob8008 and had a really awesome conversation with him while we waited in line for two hours. At 7pm, someone from B&N came downstairs and told us to follow her up the stairs. We get to the second floor and wait by the velvet ropes sealing off the area for Dave's table and a lot of press.
I kid you not, the table was right next to the "Addiction/Recovery" and "Sex" section of Barnes & Noble! If it wasn't intentional, it sure was an amusing coincidence! After waiting another half hour, 7:30 rolled around and Dave came out right on time! The press snapped photos and did quick one minute interviews with Dave for about 5 minutes. His pants were totally rocking, I wanted a pair myself! During the whole press thing, Dave looked over at myself and Rob (since we were the only ones visible, the rest of the line was behind a wall)...I held up the X I taped on my hand and Dave excitedly exclaimed "Hey, you did it! What's up man!" He did one more press interview then sat down at the table. Rob went up first and talked with Dave for about 30 seconds (what was said, Rob will have to tell you, I'm unsure), got his book signed and walked down. Now it's my turn.
I came over and Dave was extremely friendly and personable. I don't remember the exact words exchanged because I was rather nervous and excited, but this is basically how it went...
I shook his hand and began to tell Dave how I started playing guitar because of him; he smiled and thanked me. I mentioned how my parents were going through a divorce when I started playing and how it helped me get through that as it did for him, he suddenly looked up, listened closely, then said "Wow, it's good to have something like that, I'm glad you could get things out that way, it definetly helps." Then I started to talk about my families addictions, at this point he stopped writing and was like "Your Sean! I read your post on the site!" and HE held out HIS hand to shake mine. He said, very expressively and emotionally, "Dude, what you've been through is really rough, I'm glad you could get through all that." I thanked him and said that after my overdose and my father's death I managed to stay sober and healthy. As I'm saying all this, he's leaning in, looking right at me and REALLY listening...full emotional responses expressed on his face and everything. I then said something about how his music and words (not only lyrics, but, interviews/articles I've read over the years) really helped me through my rough times and how him being able to open up really deep experiences from his life has really helped myself and other get through things a lot easier. He said "That really means a lot to me, and it's terrible what you've been through. I'm glad you can come out of that as strong as you are. It's really inspiring, thank you." I thanked him again for his inspiration as he finished signing my copy of his book, he looked up at me and said "Sean, thank you again! It was really good talking to you. Stay strong!" Yet again, I thanked him and told him I'd talk to him on the website, he smiled and said "Definetley! Take care!"
Again, those may not have been the exact words, but that's pretty much how it happened. He's SO FUCKING DOWN TO EARTH! Extremely warm, friendly, personable, and responsive. It was definetley a very, very memorable experience. Shit, I got to meet one of my biggest inspirations! Not everyone gets the chance to do that and be able to tell something rather deep/personal to their inspirers (is that grammatically correct?). I am truly gratefull for this experience and will never forget it.
Again, if your reading this Dave, though I said it more than enough times, it deserves to be said once more: Thank you! Especially for being so personal and responsive, it means a lot to me. Keep rocking like you do!
- Sean
P.S. I completely forgot to ask you in person admist the excitement/nervousness, so I'll do it here: is there a chance you'll be doing another solo record? Also, I'm in the middle of recording a cover of "Hungry" (among some of my own songs) that I would love to send to you when it's finished. Just letting you know! Peace!

I just got back from Dave's book signing in NYC + it was awesome!!! We decided to drive down because we didn't have enough $ to take the train + buy the book. Driving in NYC is crazy! We almost got hit by the same minivan twice, not to mention a huge suv. We also drove around circles for like 1/2 hr to find a parking place, which we eventually found. We walked in + went upstairs, but a lady up there said we had to go back down stairs + buy the book first. As we were looking for the elevator, guess who walked right past us!!! Dave!!! It was so unexpected and cool. After we got books we went back up stairs and got in line, which wasn't that long of a wait. It was so awesome to finally meet him!!! He was so nice and personable and just all together cool. On the way home we got lost + had to ask a cop for directions, who told us to do a "u" turn in the middle of the street, which we did and ended up hitting a parked car in the process... but I don't think the cop saw that because he didn't do anything about it. All in all it was so worth it!! Dave thanks so much for talking with us + signing the books - YOU ROCK!! See you at Irving Plaza... btw, are we 67ers going to get together after the show?

dave was just awesome, so nice and friendly and down to earth and just amazing. he made my life lol...and then after the book signing a few of us 6767-ers hung out (me, ellen, hector, itanja, and denise and another really cool girl) and talked and what not and got to know each other. what an amazing group of people on this site...i'm so lucky to have met you.
dave...i will cherish this night for the rest of my life...thank you so much for touching my life (and i'm sure others) and for being so nice. it was a night i won't forget. (it was also my birthday present to myself)

Oh yeah, forget to mention I briefly met Hector also! He came to the front of the line quickly and said hi to me and Rob! I tried looking for him and some 67'ers afterwards and couldn't find any. If I manage to get tix to the Camp Freddy Irving Plaza show, we should all meet up somewhere! Hell, even if I don't get tix to the Irving Plaza show, the NYC 6767 people should meet up (again, but, planned a bit more)! Food for thought.
Goodnight all,

DAVE NAVARRO QUITS COKE
SO HE CAN ORGASM
Dave Navarro came in to promote his new book "Don't try this at home". Dave wrote this book while he was in the middle of the crazy period of his life where he was doing tons of coke and heroin almost every day. He said he agreed to do the book because he figured he'd die before it was published and then when he cleaned himself up he tried to stop Judith Reagan from publishing it. But now that he's happily married to Carmen Electra he figured there was no harm in putting the book out so it's being released. Dave talked a little about his tragic childhood. His mother was murdered by her boyfriend when he was only 15 years old. The murderer is still on death row and Dave doesn't know if he'll ever be executed. He hates how the guy still eats and plays checkers and makes friends. Dave said at his worst, he was doing 9 grams of coke a day. He said it got to point where he was shooting it into his arm. Artie said even he never did that! He also had trouble orgasming while he was high on coke, so hooking up with Carmen Electra gave him incentive to stop.
MORE ON DAVE AND CARMEN:
Howard asked if Carmen did all the things a good girl needs to do to pleasure a man. Howard gave Dave three examples and Dave answered each one:
#1 - Does Carmen ever wake Dave up with oral? (No)
#2 - Does she offer up the back door? (No - never)
#3 - Is she into water sports, like Golden Showers? (Yes, he has done that to her)

just got home from the book signing. it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. dave was really down to earth and seemed to care about what i was saying. he recognized me as a 6767'er b/c i had a HUGE X on my shirt. He asked my online name "rob8008" so he could put a face to the name. What other rock star would do something like that?? dave and this online communty has really brought people together. i met sean on line and spoke to him, a total stranger, for over 2 hours. its was crazy all of the life and musical stories we shared..and it was all cuz of 6767.com. Unfortuantly i only got to talk to dave for a short period of time b/c i was first in line and didnt want to take too long. Im gonna go to the ridgewood nj signing to talk more and ill be at the irving plaza show. anybody who'd like to talk look for the guy with all the tattoos and the huge duct tape X!!
ps: i cant stress enough how much i enjoyed talking to sean and hector..WE ARE FAMILY!

It's nice to see so many posts, with no negativity, or insanity, just full of love for Dave, Sean, and the rest of 6767...
bombadeda...Happy Trails...sweet dreams...
bonsoir mon amies, hasta manana
whatever is good, whatever is right, whatever is true, keep your eyes on this...

HECTOR-well, the entire experience was ABSOLUTELY wonderful. The 67 "Fam" was not only looking foward towards meeting Dave but finding other members of the board. Dave just because you, you've created friendships between people who NEVER EVEN MEET, you've actually made people COME TOGETHER. I may be young, but in my two decades of exsistence, I've found that the hardest thing to do, especially in today's world, is to make people open up and come together, because they may be afraid of having their heart broken or having to love (to a certain degree like what you brought up in your book)....Thats such a beautiful thing, I can't even comprehend how one person can bring so much joy to others and in turn I hope it feeds you and will always remind you that people REALLY do love you. DUDE I'm SO sorry for taking those pictures while you were signing other people's books! when you looked at me I was like "oh shit" I thought you were gonna give me the finger lol, fuck yea, ur a true rockstar giving me the horns for the perfect shot! I'm up to October in your book and I'm stopping right there because if I go on, I'll finish the whole book in one shot and I want to enjoy it over a period of time. Already, there are many things I can relate too but I won't comment on the book until I finish it....hope to see you and the Panic Channel show me some real rock at Irving Plaza, peace PS much love to the 67 TRIBE, blondimofo,Sean_IX,itanja,mikefromny,ellen, denise, rob, and all the others who went, every single one of you rock lol

Just wanted to thank Dave & Larissa for being so kind to us at the book signing. I'm sure we 6767-ers thought we were dreaming!!
We were all there (me, Denise, Emily, Ellen, Hector & some sweet girl whose name I didn't catch) & Mike from NYC...but we lost him! Where did you go Mike??
Nice to finally meet you guys!
Dave gave us some extra attention, it was pretty awesome! Larissa was super cool, what can I say!! Thanks again, Riss!! Neil S was pretty funny too.
I don't remember what I told Dave, but I'm sure I said something stupid. Oh yes, I do remember part of our conversation: Dave & I discussed how the Internet brought us all together, the rest of the conversation was a blur, but a good blur~~!!
I'm still coming down from a great evening. Thanks again Dave for your warmth & kindness. And thanks again to Larissa & all the cool 6767 people I met at the signing. I'm usually more verbose, but right now I'm speechless.
take care,
itanja

I've just seen the photos of Perry performing Oceansize and My Time with Flea and John Frusciante.
Kinda funny isn't it?
Do you feel any sort of emotion when you think of other musicians playing your music with Perry, i mean like how John once said something like you playing with Chillis felt kinda like seeing a girlfriend cheat on you, or something like that, I may have made that up, I'm not too sure. But does it have any effect on you,
or are you in fact dead inside? I think it's the dead thing or some gay lies about how your happy to see people make music, peace and love, God forbid that there be any 'negativity' in the world because people just can't deal with something thats not their own arse licking opinion. Huh? There are other opinions? So they have to spout some wannabe pacafist shit about pity, but their opinion is expressed only as empty words. But,once again, I'd go for the dead thing.

Wow Guys & Gals sounds like you all had a great experience! Thank you all for sharing your moments with us.
Can't wait for my copy of the book to arrive, its coming by post, so its anybodys guess as to when it will be here!?
This must be a cool experience for you too Dave to get to meet and greet some of your online family.
Reminds me of a saying I heard (not sure where) it might have even been on here, goes something like "There are no strangers, only friends we have not met yet"
Waiting by my letterbox :)
