Hi everyone!

My sister is a teacher - you should hear what her students say about her . . . .

Expecting my book today - can't wait to get home and see if it is there!

Carson Daly - tomorrow night!

YEAH!

Always,
me

Love the photo! That's hilarious. But jezebel is right, it's wrong on more than one level! I hope all goes well with the recordings today and that you had a good time at the book signing last night! I'm sure it's nice to be back home and not have to go to a hotel room after your signings.

Ah yes, there is no greater love than that found between teacher and student.
Seriously though, thanks Dave for the inspiration both in your life acheivements and music.
I wish you happiness always.

Hey Dave & DN Family,

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I hope everyone at the West Coast signings had a great time. DAVE is the MAN! ¿When are you gonna grow your hair longer?
One more thing. Everyone has to see the movie GARDEN STATE. It is excellent. I never knew Natalie Portman could be funny. She is sooooo beautiful. Another good movie to see is SHAWN OF THE DEAD.

Dave & everyone have a great day.

Later,

Hi all, how's it going?

Still too tired to think, so I'm not going to :)

Mike from NYC~ Are there zombies in Shaun of the Dead? There are too many similar sounding movies, I get confused. Anyway, this guy I know was a zombie in one of the similar-sounding movies. Still I don't dare to see it, haha, I'm a chicken :)

Have a good one, everyone!

"T-T-teacher stop that screamin'
Teacher don't you see?
Don't wanna be no uptown fool
Maybe I should go to hell
But I am doing well
Teacher needs to see me after school

I think of all the education that I've missed
But then my homework was never quite like this!

Ow! Got it bad,
Got it bad,
Got it bad,
I'm hot for teacher!
I've got it bad, so bad"

Happy Birthday to me! happy birthday to me, and to Sammy Hagar! :D

Pony-The picture is from a case in Wash state where a teacher "fell in love" with her then 12 year old student. She was convicted for the crime and served a 7 1/2 year prison term and somehow managed to have two kids with the former student. She was recently released and the couple plan to raise their two daughters.

I'm right in LA but due to work stuff I cant' make it to either of the signings :( I'm there in spirit!! Plus my best friend works at a Barnes and Noble in the Bay Area and bought me the book for my birthday (Oct. 18th hint hint).

I'm taking a mini-vacation to Big Sur (on the California coast) so I'll be MIA for about a week. I hope you have a great last book signing!!!

PS. I just heard that Dave's friends in Velvet Revolver are planning a free show somewhere in Hollywood this evening! It was supposed to happen on top of the Hustler building on Sunset a la U2, but they couldn't get a last minute permit. I'm gonna try and catch it tonight :)

Beautiful People:

Hello, I hope all is well. I just got back from my trip/vacation and I'm checking back in finally. It's funny how when you step away from the "6767 Community" you feel like you missed out on something. Well, it's cool to see what has been going on in the mean time. Dave- I hope you and the guys are rocking out in the studio. Best wishes on that.

P.S. Jezzi- What's up-how is everything going?

Oh, and am I the only one who is having trouble readign the book? I was waititng forever for it and now I am not glued to it like I thought. I guess it is hard form me to read about Dave being in pain. Am I the only one like this? Speak to me peeps.

brujo,

Thanks for the info... i never watch the news so I am sure i missed that.

Maria,

YOU KICK ASS!... send me an e-mail and let me know where to send the pay pal and for how much.

And happy birthday to the birthday buddies.

Ok I am going to go back to pretending to work. Man I am getting really good at this.

Do you guys know about the doheny chat room? If I could set one of those up for 6767 would you want me to? I did a really ghetto one a long time ago but it never took off. But since the community is larger now it might be fun. And dave could pop in from the studio if he wanted to. Just a thought... lete me know.

Dave and Maria,
I just wanted write and let you both know how cool last night was. I was so worried about moving down to So Cal where I don't know anyone and would be unemployed (just got a job at Nordstroms). I grew up around Sacramento and the move to San Jose was hard but not too bad my friends and family were only a 2 hour drive away but down here everyone is an expencive 2 hour flight away and its hard. Maria you let me know that I do have a friend out here and Dave you let me know that not all big named people out here are unkind (I got cut off by Snoop on my way home). The hug made my nite! And the coffee with Maria made the drive worth it all.

Thank You,
Misty

Crecencia - I know what you mean, reading Dave's book was very hard for me; I have had a lot of personal experience with loving someone who was where Dave was at. It was painful to relive, even though it's been 3 years since that part of my life was over, and I cried quite a bit when I read Dave's book. Probably the part when I cried the most (believe it or not) was towards the end of Dave cleaning up and Jen scouring the house to clean it up so there would be no temptation for Dave. I did that numerous times; every time my exhusband would clean up. And you walk around with the fragilest of hopes that this time was the one time that would work.
The ending of Dave's book was warm light and I read it with aching heart that my exhusband never made it to that side. But so thrilled that Dave did and that it can be done. The majority of the book was heart wrenching and the desparation was RIGHT THERE.
But Dave, what an important thing for you to do. Thank you for putting yourself and all the hell you went through out there for everyone to see and hopefully gain some understanding. Your book is so important, I hope you know that!

FreAk - I have no musical gift to offer regarding instruments, but I can sing. I'm female, so if you're preferring male voice for this next collaboration, I'll hang out a bit until you guys move on to the next song after that.

Have a great day everyone.

Posted by: Aimee at October 13, 2004 03:05 PM

Misty-Your not alone. I moved to SoCal/SD about two years ago. Having moved from the East Coast I can relate to the friends/family thing as well. Anyway, if the next TPC show goes down in LA... if you want.... we could catch the show and carpool. It would make the drive fun, we could cruise up to LA in the carpool lane and avoid all the crazy traffic. Ingenious, no?

Come out tonight (Wednesday) and see Velvet Revolver perform right on the streets of Hollywood at 8:00 PM at the intersection of Selma and Ivar, just north of Sunset Boulevard. City officials wouldn't grant a permit for the guys to perform Tuesday night atop the Hustler store, so they're ready to rock tonight. See you there...

Hi Amiee,

Wow! That must of been hard. I can't imagine going through something like that. The book really bumms me out. I knew he was going through a hard time back then, but now that it is real and I am experiencing it throught his eyes, it just makes me sick. I have been in love with Dave for years, So I guess that it is hard for me to see the people that I care about go through hard times. I have been that way with everyone I have cared for. I mean , Dave's music has really helped me through my bad times. What I am saying, does it make sence?

I believe everything happens for a reason, and this has turned Dave into a better person. I only read a few pages, so I don;t get too upset. But, thanks for your story. You are a very strong person for dealing with that. And I admire you for that.

Much Love, CC

Maria - cool buttons! too bad i can't come tomorrow... i don't know... after last night, i just might!! =)

so, can someone tell me how i can share a picture with all of you. i don't have a website or anything, but i have ONE picture from last night i wanted to share. what's the easiest way???

Been thinking about a call and response guitar track exchange/ riff exchange…eg: start a riff, you know, X# of seconds, eg: me send it to you , you send it to me, to someone, someone to me, someone to you, someone to someone, someone starts one and sends it….someone else, me, you, respond to it, send it back, send it to someone else, and move it around until there’s 3/4/5/6 minutes of it, a kinda chain letter guitar riff/guitar chords global hop, that would be a cool start. Have in mind to structure it while its being passed around, or just let it go and be what it turns into, either or …….neither or.

From here…this could be the initial track to get a song going, or it could further be turned into a multi-track guitar quartet piece, say like a classical style structure but with electric guitar tracks. *Robert Fripp has done this sort of structural arrangement ( the many guitars at once orchestral type) with his “League of Crafty Guitarists projects, so suppose this is a twisted version of that.

And So, part three of this idea I suppose, someone write a track, send it to someone, ( not doing the overtly poetic someone to someone rant again but ref to it anyway ), add a ‘react-a-track’, and fire it around a few times.

deas, .....might get some kinda funky avant thing happnin.

Hey all!
Dave- Thanks for a great laugh from that photo! She was all over the news last month here when she got out of prison. Glad you had a great time last night. I watched Carmen's show last night. It is too bad she didn't get more face time. I am hoping this changes in future episodes.

How is everyone today? I had a long day at work, so I just wanted to check in before I go to bed soon.

Karrie :)

Happy birthday Lisa! I hope you have a rocking good day!

Jezebel, I didn't get to respond to you in the other thread because I replied to your email before I was here. So you teach too?! Cool! Yes, I am the mom of the 19 month old, and the calendar person too, heehee. Now I'm really going to get spooky... get ready... we're both Scorpios too! (Insert Twilight Zone music here) :)

Todays pic is just wrong... but I've got to admit, funny as hell too.

Spreading the love,
Deena

Deena--I think for my next master's project I should do some research into teacher fans of Dave, hey, so when in November? And I just emailed you back too, about the chat room you have on your site, is it still active, cause that would save Pony a lot of work!!

Lori- thanks as always...
I had a really bad day at school, went in ready to drop out, funny, I only have 6 weeks left, it's just too much, but thank God! There are people who see what's REALLY going on, so I have been told I will NOT be allowed to drop by my professor, she loves my research...all this, and DAVE too!!

Sarah!!- I KNEW that was you?
Wendy!! Love the pic with the skull eyes!!
Blanca!---Call ME!!
Misty-How is Nordstrom's working out? Let me know what was the outfit of choice
Brett--as always, you STUD you!!

Ok, this question may be redundant, but I just started hardcore reading through these posts last week.... so forgive me if I am behind on things. How many of you are in the NYC area? (I'm a native New Yawker.... currently living in Yonkizz.)

Posted by: Adina at October 13, 2004 07:53 PM

haha, MKL, I know someone who was friends with her, thought she was very quiet and sweet...

but I agree with whoever above that said it is wrong on so many levels...

Posted by: Cynthia at October 13, 2004 08:10 PM

Hey Adina -- *salutes* Jersey girl representin'.

Yes, I know the "traditional" Jersey salute is flipping a double bird; but, I'm all about promoting peace, love, and sssoooouuuullll (LMAO - couldn't resisit)

JEZ! Whazzah girlee?!

I really needed a pick-me-up today; and, not surprisingly, I found it here.

That picture -- holy s!@t that's awesome. Ditto on the wrong on so many levels; but, funny as hell.

And a Halen title to boot?! My day has been made and I'm officially in heaven. I can talk about VH for DAYS. Love them, love them, love them. ADORE them. "Eruption" cranked up to the max got me through many an awkward teenage day.

Hell, still does.

Question: Do ya ... like the way the line ... runs up the back of their stockings?

Glad everyone had a great time at the signing yesterday -- Jez -- tomorrow -- remember the post-its ...

Must go rock out now

Much love,
~~ Lori

finally got my book today...Thank you for meeting Carmen and getting a happy ending for the book, otherwise it would have given me nightmares! I thought it was funny when you asked Neil if you could change your name to "Steve" for the book...glad you didn't tho

JEZ! Whazzah girlee?!

I'm telling you Dave, you need a lyricist, I am your girl!!
Lori, have i told you lately that I love you?

Posted by: jezebel at October 13, 2004 08:30 PM

Hey Adina, I'm a "Jurzee" girl!

and Jez, I'm a November 6th Scorpio... and you? Oh, and do NOT drop out! Bite your lip, put on your seatbelt and hang in there. That Master's is really worth it. I got mine just over a year ago, and it's the best thing I ever did for myself. Now I'm itching to go back and get another one!

Regarding the chatroom, yep, it is still active. Free to use by anyone, anytime. Just help yourselves. No registration, no downloads, it's free, and you don't have to give anything more than a screenname. It's pretty cool. Just watch for people who think it's a different type of room... but what can you expect considering it's called The Spread Chat...

it's here: http://members.tripod.com/~tno13/chatroom.html

Posted by: Deena13 at October 13, 2004 08:40 PM

A'ight Jez, you might be chillin like a villain; BUT, are you gellin' like a felon?

And Jezzie-girl ... have I told you there's no one else above you?

Lori (gimme somthin' to write on man)

P.S. It's probably a good thing we're on opposite coasts because, together, I think we could take over the world. *taps my chest, flashes a peace sign* Word.

Hey Dave!
Hope you and the rest of the crew had just as much fun at citywalk as i did getting my book signed! Since I was one of the first people in line i didn't really get the chance to talk to you besides spelling my name correctly....I had a couple of questions for either you or neil about some of the choices you made in writing style, but it's cool--in a way it's like writing a song, half the fun is letting the audience interpret it for themselves and allowing them to attach their own feelings/identifications to it. I finished the book last night, and was impressed with the amount of personal detail you exposed in this official work. One question i'll leave you with: Do you think that this recent trend of "honesty" in musicians' memoirs (your book, anthony's book, the Metallica documentary) is an attempt by the music industry to show the realities of the business in a way to discourage the future generation of musicians from travelling the path of sex, drugs and rock and roll? Or do you think it's just a subconcious response to the current media climate of see-all/be-all/tell-all begun by the reality tv movement?
*two weeks and three steps toward the proverbial door,

Deena, soul sistah, don't hate me, but I am going to be pimpin' your site for a while,

HEY 6767!! Check out the Spread chatroom, is that "the Dave" who is a registered member?

I think people are going to all chip in to get me a new president for my birthday....we'll see, if not, well, it's STILL my birthday, only 21 more shopping days

jezzi(I got your unicorn right here)

Pimp away Jez! :)

You 67ers crack me up...

Jez, Deena and Lori... thanks mucho for a much-needed giggle after a major heartbreak... wait, actually two. Or was it three? Bottom line: boys are bad. :-(

Perhaps I am just too sensitive a soul... (blech)

Posted by: Adina at October 13, 2004 09:12 PM

Just a sad, sensitive unicorn. (Hey, and I'm a real unicorn because I'm a Capricorn.... which technically is a goat, but if you remove a horn... oh, nevermind)

Posted by: Adina at October 13, 2004 09:15 PM

Yes, boys are bad, but, isn't that the POINT?

Adina, I don't buy into that stuff, but the unicorn is my personal symbol of....an experience I had.

Hi Dave! Is that YOU on Deena's unicorn list?

Deena's coooooooool, so is ummm, well, so are most of the girls, and some of the boys....

Thank you Dave, for bringing the sistas together!
Have you ever seen The Color Purple?

Sistaaaaaa........

Goodnight, unicorns.... goodnight, Dave. Thanks for being here. I can go to sleep now. (yawns)

I'll probably be up at 4am though, acting all bipolar. See you then... (blows all a kiss)

(Jezzie... you've got me all parenthetical.)

so did anyone make to the VR deal in Hollywood???

Posted by: Abby at October 14, 2004 04:21 AM

The Spread room always got a lot of people stopping in who thought it was an adult chat based on the title. In hopes to do away with some of that, I opened a new room on that server called The Panic Room. :) It works the same way as the old school Spread chat, just a new room name.

The new room is at: http://members.tripod.com/~tno13/panicroom.html

Anyone up for trying it out tonight? Maybe we can plan a chat?

Spreading the love,
Deena

I was wondering if you liked Halloween?

Posted by: Chris at October 14, 2004 06:41 AM

Hey all...just wanted to check in, and say hey to "D" and the Fam... glad to hear the book "tour" was a success, you deserve every bit of your new life, and to see how much you cherish it, is a beautiful thing. I've been wanting to check Anthony's book out too. At the Barnes & Noble here, i bought DTTAH on it's release date (obviously ;-). They had about 8-10 copies of Dave's book, roughly the same amount of Anthony's. Well i went back, exactly one week later, expecting to see maybe a couple of each book having been sold (given the area i was in), but was excited to see that there was only one DTTAH left, and Anthony's were gone. I think the DTTAH was still there, because you could tell someone stashed it...it wasn't where it belonged... but yeah i had hoped to sit and read a bit of Anthony's, because i don't know that i really want to buy it. One thing i can say for sure about DTTAH is...i read parts of it everyday, i've hit it cover to cover several times, yet every day, I continue to get something brand new and positive out of it...as if i was reading it for the first time... it's kinda my "set the mood of the day book", and given my similar affliction, gives me a background on what i can focus on for any particular day. Just pick up D's book, open it, and wherever i open it, i read that chapter and take that lesson with me for that day...thanks again for providing me with a book that i can relate too, that interest's me endlessly, but also serves a higher purpose... can't fuckin wait for the TPC!!!! Come to D.C., Dave, with the TPC (early on, as one of your first gigs)... anyway, enough of the rambling... but that's what a three day absence will get ya from me... peace to all who believe...

Posted by: Adrock at October 14, 2004 07:07 AM

Hey Kirsty, cheers for that. was beginning to think my aftershave was off :) Picked a bad day to type that though as works been a mare and haven't had a chance to look at the site for hours. Still, 2 hours left and then firday and then 2 weeks off work!
