Goin' to California

Panicchannel15logoiwSo, New York is a wrap. I'm going home. I had a really amazing time here, but I am looking forward to some jam time with the guys. Also, I have an opportunity to meet some of the Westsiders at the L.A. signings. If you all are even half as cool as the Eastside, we got this s!@t locked, son! I'm sitting in my room, gearing up for the debate. Thank God Riss has a laptop. I really should look into one of these. I could go fully OCD wherever I am. Conan was a lot of fun. That guy is f!@king funny! P. Diddy was on right before me and it was cool to catch up with him again. He is really inspiring. Everything he does, he does to the Nth degree. Very nice guy as well.

Much love and respect,

DN

wow, i've posted in the top 5 count lol thats a first. Dave I've finished reading the book and in it, there are many lessons I can take and learn from myself without having to learn "it the hard way". Thank you for enriching my life

Dave...
you mentioned a couple/few? months back that you and Eric Avery were gonna hook up. Wonderin'? Did you guys jam? ...make any plans to get together and jam?, or even....to record something?

You have a sound together that (to my ears) is 'oceanic', - a very beautiful sonic vibe...put it that way...

Dave-You must be lookin' forward to gettin' home and back into your own bed,one of the things i miss most whenever i'm away is my bed.

Goin' To California-only one of my all time favourite Led Zep songs!!!

Hey, I started reading you book tonight. And I'm addicted to it. It's so intresting. Mt friend and I were talking about you earlier and we both just talked about how great it is of you to donate everything to MAP.

Question:
Have you ever considered doing a spoken word cd or tour like Henry Rollins? I love his stuff and think you'd do a great job with something like that.

Posted by: Rich Shook at October 8, 2004 05:23 PM

Glad you had a good time in NYC. Come down to ATL way in the near future so I can get my book signed, please? That way, you'd have covered the 3 main triangular parts of the country, how fitting! Hope to see you soon.
Peace

Have to comment on that spoken word idea, Dave, you MUST know you have one of the sexiest voices I have ever heard. I used to call my lover's voice mail, just to hear him say...PLEASE...leave a message...

Booyyaa, Mooyyaa,...Word...with an achin' in my heart....

HEY!!!! Don't go away yet! Question for 6767 peeps who had their book signed, Did you ask Dave to sign it to your real name, your post name, both, like aka...not that I'm asking for ME< I mean, of COURSE my real name is jezebel....)

glad you liked NY so much...have an awesome and safe trip back to cali!...speaking of NY...have you ever visited or been out to Long Island? it's a pretty hip, happening place lol...extreme sarcasm there.

another question (sorry they all popped into my head today)...do you still talk to rose mcgowan at all now that she's not with manson? just an odd question out of the blue.

and yes...dave did sign the books personally but they had post-its that were written with our names...i just took out my handy blue pen and wrote "6767-blondimofo" on it so dave would see that i was a 6767 person and my posting name...what an awesome experience...i would fly out to cali if i didn't have school lol. thanks dave for that WONDERFUL experience and to the AWESOME 6767 people i met there :-D.

peace love and coconuts (it's my birthday tomorrow!!)...just thought i'd add that :-)

Kia ora Dave and Family,

I haven't really been around much lately - been busy with life *ugh* ... but I've been reading about interviews and what not. Thing is, I don't have cable or satelite (home time, for me, is family time), is there a way someone can direct me to where I could view them online? Or could someone have then uploaded somewhere? I'd love to see them. Thanks.

Dave - the book is .. awesome. I can't put it down. There are moments were I actually weep, having been through a marriage to a crystal-meth and cocaine addict. He's clean now, and we're divorced, but the book brought back some memories for me that I needed to recall in order to work on some issues I've *stashed away* thinking it would ease my transition. Instead, it only stiffled me. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. I promise you this: every person who reads it will take something personal from it. And it's that thing that they take with them from reading your book that will make them a better person. The only thing we can say is thank you.

Dave~My new guitar teacher has asked me to write a list of songs I want to learn to play. I love so much music, I am having trouble choosing. My list is getting very long. I'm leaning towards heavier rock songs, and glam rock, like Thin Lizzy.
Do you have any suggestions? I'd love to know what you choose.

Thanks Much love Lisa xxxx

Hi Dave,

The Conan interview was a blast. Conan is such a great guy, not to mention hysterically funny~!

Did he get you to film a "Secrets" sketch?

You can see he is a true music fan & very interested in the musicians he has on his show.

I love the way he interacts with his guests, the 'Blue Love' story......looooool

I've got to get back to the 'drawing board', so-to-speak~~!! Think I'll put 'Decon' & 'TNO" on for inspiration.

take care,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY~~~blondi ~&~ aj~~!!

Hey Dave! I just got done watchin you on Conan... very cool. He is so friggin hilarious. I started crackin up when you told the story behind the "blue love". Tonight was my school's homecoming and I won homecoming king! Then, my band played after the game and we covered "Just Because". I was scared shitless playing in front of the whole school, but everybody was really into it so... it was a helluva night. But anyway, just wanted to share some of my excitement with you and the 6767 fam... I hope everyone else's night was just as cool!

Hey Fam,

Happy Birthday Emily & Aj have a fabulous day!!

Altho mine isn't for a month it felt like it came early yesterday, I had such a good day my book arrived in the morning whoo hoo!!
I was told I have a good chance of getting the job I did an interview for the other day in the afternoon

After a few very helpful hints from Jezebel and Greg (Thanks so much guys means a lot!) I managed to call Booksoup where Dave is doing the signing on the 14th and they are going to ship me a signed copy over here to Holland!! I am sooooo happy!!!
When it comes which could be a while yet (6-8 wks shipping) I will have a spare copy so if anyone is not going to be able to get their hands on a copy let me know.

Dave if you do recognise my name when signing my book (I know its a slim chance) could you put a little smiley alongside your signature for recognition? :)

In the evening to finish off a top day I went to watch The Dead Kennedys who were excellent!! They also have a new singer who is pretty damn good considering who's shoes he's taken over.
Nice guys too, they came out into the crowd for a beer and a chat after.

A total perfect day!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

anyway, great weekend everyone, emma

Hey Dave,

1) I remember reading that when you play that you see colours. Does this depend on the song you're playing or is it the mood you are in when you play? If the former then does this mean you always see the same colour when you play a certain song? If so can you please tell me some of the strongest colours you see and what songs they relate to from the JA material.

2) I see that you occaisonally play with Billy Duffy from The Cult. Any news on what he is doing these days? That last Cult album (Beyond Good and Evil) was one of their best. Has he said anything to indicate there might be more Cult to come?

3) There was a famous interview with John Lennon where he spelled out which of the 'Lennon-McCartney' songs where written by him, which by McCartney and which ones were true collaborations. I notice that on the JA material everything is credited to the band as a collective unit, which I can only guess would be mostly for royalty reasons. Can you indicate in any way which JA songs were mostly yours, or Erics etc?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi all!

Emily and aj~ Happy b~day! Don't go and have too much fun now, ya hear me ;)

I totally support the spoken word idea, by the way. Dave's voice is soo nice to listen to, it seriously makes me want to fall asleep (that might have something to do with me listening to Dave's version of The Bed while sleeping?) But anyway, you have a great voice, Dave, and I really mean that :)

I guess that was it for now. I'm really envious of everyone who's got to read the book, btw. I think I'll have my copy in like 10 days or something. I've waited ever since the old 6767/Baby Unicorn days (wasn't one myself, the thought of putting my pic up on the net seemed scary to me until late 2000. Funny how things change, eh?) so I guess 10 more days isn't that bad.

Have a good one, everyone!

Good morning fam, and happy f'n weekend!!!! Cheers to you too "D", happy weekend. Chantelle, yesterday, I mentioned seeing the Angelyne BB in "Get Shorty", which also starred Rene Russo, and some of the old timers know that crush...but anyway, to answer your question, yes I did read it back in the old days on Dave's "Spread" version of his site. He also posted a couple of parts of "Love in L.A." i believe. But not being from the westcoast, or specifically L.A., until then, I too had never heard of her, so I automatically associate her with Dave's amusing anecdotes!!! Bye for now all!

Happy Birthday Blondie & AJ!

DAVE,
If you are taking any requests, I would like to hear any of the following songs if possible:
"REBEL REBEL" by David Bowie- I am not a big Bowie fan but I do love this song.
"I LOVE IT LOUD" by Kiss- I know that you are a big Kiss fan and they are from NYC. So it is kind of fitting.
"TV PARTY" by Black Flag- Whenever I hear this song, I can't help but smile. You can probably update it to include current shows.
"HOLIDAY IN CAMBODIA" or "CALIFORNIA UBERALUS" by Dead Kennedys- I don't know if spelled Uberalus correctly so I apologize if I didn't. DK is one of my favorite bands so that's why I would like to hear them.

Thanks,
Mike from NYC

Holla to Pony, hey! Did you find anyone to get a signed copy for you? Email me, we'll talk...well, not talk exactly, write back and forth hurriedly?

Question of the day for 6767....What Dave song, from any of his ventures, last put you 'in the mood for love'?
jezebel(what's the name of the song, where Perry goes, something something, walked out through the door, walked out through the door, there's barking...it makes me dance!!!)

"Dave's #1 fan" & DN Family

I saw "Fahrenheit 911" and I must say that it was a load of crap. It misinformed more people than the Bush Administration has.

Before I go on I have to say that I love Michael Moore films. "Bowling for Columbine" & "Roger & Me" are excellent documentaries. But "...911" is not even close to being as good as those two are.
The main reason for that is because it was not accurate.

1) It portrayed Iraq as some Eden where everyone's human rights were acknowledged. Amnesty International and other human rights organizations cited many human rights violations by the Iraqi Government.

2) There were several independent reports and all of the Senators' and Congressmen (Republican & Democrat) had access to them. If they really didn't believe that Iraq was not a threat, they should said so then. But it was not in there best political interest to do so.

3) Michael Moore did not mention the 2 above points in his film. If he had included them, then I would have said that it was a fair movie. When someone makes a documentary, they should also have a point of view and both sides of the issue. Moore did not do the second thing in "...911"

I am not a political person and I do not wish to engage in political discussions on Dave's website. I just had to throw my 2 cents in. Hopefully you are all mature enough to respect my opinion, because I respect all of yours. You do not have to agree with it, but I just ask that you hear me out. I am not one to bash anyone personally, so please do not do the same to me.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hey Jez,

(what's the name of the song, where Perry goes, something something, walked out through the door, walked out through the door, there's barking...it makes me dance!!!)

That rocking a$$ song (that makes me dance too ... and damn near blow my speakers out) is

"Been Caught Stealing" JA, Ritual de lo Habitual, 3rd track.

*props up on my elbows, grins cheesily* What do I win?

... and now I must go play it ... LOUDLY ...LOL!

And to answer your other question, the "mood for love" song ... I've got two: "Price I Pay" from Strays, and "Mountain Song" from Nothing's Shocking. (That bass line *purrs* ... um, YEAH)

Looks like I'll need a cold shower before I play BKS ...

Much love to all,

Hello Dave, Hello to all the Family.

I thought I'd just check in., YES, I am here in spectacular Colorada (nice to be able to wake up in the am, look outside and see the Rockies literally at the back door.. wow, what a site). Pony has been his usual AWESOME self. We've been having a great time, as always. It's been 4 years since our last meeting and I had forgotten how laid back he really is. I soo need this break right now.

Won't go into all the details of my Excellent Adventure but, suffice it to say, the last 2 hours were .

I'll have a trip diary posted on my site, very soon.
Once I get home and get the site woerking.

It's neat though, since I have known Pony and now the connection with Dave, and all of you wonderful ppl, this visit has had a more wonderful aspect to it then
my previous visit with Pony. It's just the feeling I get that I hadn't had for some time at home.

Well, I shall sign off for now. I think we are going to do some looking around town and then relax and enjoy the day.

A huge shout out (lol) to Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce for the specular weather... lol.

Hi Jezzi,

"Be still my beatin' heart."...that IS who I think it is...YUM!

"Shape of My Heart" is a gorgeous song too! One of his best.

How about "I Burn for You", that's very sexy. Though associating that song with his move 'B&T' is kinda creepy. lol

Haven't heard from you!

Hey 'Linda',

Ha, ha...yes, it's ME.

Anyway I am off to NYC in a few minutes to meet some old work buddies for dinner near Carnegie Hall, then heading downtown for coffee & drinks.

The cute guy in the photo?? No that's not Ryan, the cute blond guy is in Sting's band, he's very good friends with a friend of mine.

I've never seen or met Ryan, he's a Dave board buddy from another blog!

I started to read THE BOOK backwards.....I have no idea why. I was very surprised & sad to find out about Jen, also the fact that she was the same Jen who dated Keanu etc.

Gotta get a move on, don't want my friends to get upset by my tardiness~~!!

Have fun listening to Camp Freddy tonight, is Dave going to be on??

Have fun listening to Camp Freddy tonight, is Dave going to be on??

take care,
itanja

hey family

i'm so bummed! i sat on the couch to wait for Conan around 11:30 and i feel asleep!!!!! i woke up at 1:30. missed the whole thing!!!! arg! does anyone know if they replay the show? i thought that sometimes they do on comedy central or something.

Posted by: SnoWhite at October 9, 2004 01:03 PM

Hi <3Sarah,

Just checking in before I go out. lol

YES, Conan IS repeated~~!!

Here in NYC, it's repeated the next week.....only in the 'late night' slot at 3:00 on the same NBC affiliate. So Fridays show with Dave will be on this coming Friday, at 3:00, you'll have to check locally for the time wherever you are.

Conan's regular NYC time slot is 12:30AM, the repeats from the last weeks shows are on nightly at 3:00AM.

So YES, depending if your local NBC station does repeat it, it WILL be repeated NEXT Friday. I hope your local NBC afflilate shows them late night.

Unfortunately, Conan is no longer on 'Comedy Central', they used to repeat his show 2 times a day, it was great if you missed it.

take care,
itanja

Happy birthday emily and aj. Dave, Conan was great. I've never heard the headache thing after blue love. jezebel it seems you and I have something more in common than ADD and our admiration of Dave, if you share your birthday with Dennis and Roseanne then you share it with me.

Hey guys... I finally have internet access again for the first time in a month, and I have to say how awesome Shoot is! I wouldn't know what had been going on if Deena didn't keep me in the loop! I'm really excited to contribute if there is another song. It's such an innovative and fantastic idea.

I just finished the book, and I'm so grateful that you decided to share it with the world, Dave. It's so engaging and inspiring.

I guess I'm going to end this here, because sooner or later I'll run out of adjectives.

Mea culpa ...

Jez, Been Caught Stealing's track 5, not track 3, which I did know, but momentarily forgot. heh heh heh I'm a dork, I know.

Just read your email -- replying now.

Yes Sarah, they do the same here, repeat one week later at 3am, also, I think comedy central repeats them...but not sure on what schedule...just make sure to set you alarm next week!

Jezzi,

I can't think of any Dave related song that gets me in the mood for lovin'. I'm sorry. But if you put on "CLOSER" by NIN, I would definitely be in the mood for love. How could not be in the mood when Trent screams "I wanna fuck you like an ANIMAL".

What did you all think of the debates? I think that the townhall style had many advantages. It allowed Kerry to get a little more intimate with the voters, with was important for him. I only wish I could have been there. The big open arena the canidates had on the floor would have given me a good running start when I would have formed-tackled Bush. Texas Style.

Soundtrack for a lazy Saturday afternoon inclueds Better Man- Pearl Jam ( she lies and says that she's in love with him, can't find a better man, she dreams in color, she dreams in red?)

Shane, shane, shane.....not ADD, Impulsive Disorder combined with clinical stuff, and hallucinagenic flashbacks, addictive behaviour but not towards white substances or tobacco.

Emily, I want to say here, the same thing that I mailed to you. I am sure I speak for the majority of those who know you here, that there's a shoulder, and both ears (figuratively), ok, all four of my eyes here for you.

Sorry, "in the mood" music didn't quite go w/the post for Emily's grandmother.
I Burn for You is a definite mood song. For some reason, U2's Bad and Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the Word also do it for me *shrug* (think it's more the moment and more for one individual) And don't forget Deftones - Change. But all time favorite??? Crush - DMB.

Hey Dave and family!
Dave- watched Conan (only because you were on there) last night, and it was hilarious. You looked well, and very comfortable. I never watch Conan, because he usually doesn't seem that funny to me, but last night was a rare occasion. Then I saw on Carson Daly (whom I can't stand) had Manson on. It was a nice night for me, although I was tired as hell.

Family- hope you all have a great weekend!
Emily- I am very sorry about your grandmother. If y ou need someone to talk to, let me know.

As for the Jane's song that gets me in the mood...
it would have to be The Mountain Song. mmmm that is one of my favorite.

Hey Emily, prayers with you and yours!

Finally got to see my Conan tape - Great! Now to remember to tape Daly! I almost missed taping Conan because I didn't get home from the Barry Manilow concert until 12:40AM (and yes, it was Barry - quite a different crowd then when I saw KISS at the Mellon Arena in PGH). Now, if we could just get Dave to play around here . . .

Looking forward to getting my signed book.

Nite, everyone!

Emily,

My condolences to you and your family. It's the hardest thing in the world to lose someone so close to you. My advice to you is no advice. Everyone deals with grief differently, so I won't try to change that for you. But just know that you will come out of this dark period; and that there are definetly people here who will listen if you need to talk. And if you ever need to do so with someone who's been in the same unfortunate situation of losing close family members, don't hesitate to e-mail me.

*hugs*

Goodnight all.

I cannot express how much all your words and sympathies have made me feel better. thank you all so much for lending your support, your love, and your condolences. It's been a very difficult day, made more difficult by the fact that it's my birthday. the slight bit of humor is that when people come up to me, they don't know whether to say "happy birthday" or "i'm so sorry for your loss" first. it's interesting to see how people flip between two totally different emotions. thank you all so much...it's just been very difficult...and all your words and prayers and everything has made it that much easier. once again thank you all so much...and my heart and my respect are with you all

-Much love, Emily

Emily,

I just got in from the city & logged on to read this thread.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I went through the loss of my favorite aunt a few months ago, she was a sort of surrogate grandmother to me & all my cousins. Our grandmother had passed away when we were all quite young, so my aunt took over the role of grandmother.

I became even closer to her over the past few years. It has been very hard dealing with her death. Grief is very private, as many here have stated, people deal with it differently.

At this point, I am slowly accepting it, I deal with my grief by thinking of all the good times & remembering how she always made everyone laugh & was always there with a shoulder to lean on.

That is how I personally deal with the grief; remembering all the good times and her positive & upbeat personality.

My prayers are going out to you during this difficult time.

take care of yourself,
itanja

Dave you do very well on Howard Stern - are you a listener? i noticed anthony kiedis was on howard's show a week after you (promoting his book) - is this a case of odd timing, competitive timiing or the timing of the universe (both inexplicable and impossible to avoid)

Emily, my support goes to you and your family. Grief is a difficult and sometimes confusing time under any circumstances, and compounded for you by the polar effect created by the fact that it was your birthday. I truely feel for you and hope that you can celebrate the life of your grandmother. Last weekend was exactly one year since the loss of my grandmother, and while it drudged up some of the sad and uncomfortable emotions, I also was able to think of the wnderful gifts that she brought into this world. My hope for you is that time will bring the gift of celebration of life along with the loss, that has been the best thing for me during the hardest times.

Hey all,

Emily i feel for you and your family, but like abby said look at all the good times you shared together - them memories can never be erased.
In the past month i have lost both my Aunt and my favourite Uncle, you just have to celebrate what you shared together.

Love always

Oh Emily... I share with you this experience, as my grandmother passed away on New Year's Day three years ago, two days before my birthday. Her funeral was held on my birthday. Since then, my birthday has become more of a day to remember her than about me progressing in age, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is hard when these two life realities (birth and death) converge at once, and it can be confusing because you don't feel comfortable celebrating your own life... and this year, you won't. But in the future, you and she share a special day that represents a crucial point in both of your lives. Place a few extra candles for her on your birthday cake in years to come, and wish for her a safe and serene resting. The pain will take a long time to pass, and that is completely normal. I am so terribly sorry...

To the rest of my dear adorable Dave devotées: namaste.

Itanja, what a beautiful thing your Aunt did, in being a grandmother to all of you, I never really knew my grandparents that well, they were hard alcoholics, so mom and dad kept us away, but I always wished I had a gramma and grampa like everyone else. As for my kids, my parents are the greatest grandparents I've ever met, I don't even know how I would raise my kids without them...

Also with people losing a loved one on or around their birthday, I thought of how excited we were when my daughter was born on my dad's birthday...but it never occurred to me that when he's gone, she will know on every birthday that it would also be grandpa's birthday. I hope she is able to celebrate, and realize how proud her grandpa was to share his birthday with her. He was actually there when she was born, and he told everyone who would listen, that it was the best birthday he'd ever had in all his 67 years...

...Emily take care girl (((((more warm hugs)))))

Sionara ANR,
Yesterday I got an email from ANR saying that posters with less than 5 posts will have their screennames deleted to make more room at the site. So I went over there for the first time since June to decide if I care to stay on. The answer is no. Not only is there absolutely nothing happening over there, but going there caused me to remember why I haven't bothered since I found this site. Hoka sits there like a spider watching every move with this UNhappy, UNhealthy attitude. I completely forgot about that in the months since I had been there. UGH! Sionara ANR. Everyone is better off with me over here!
