City Walked
Tonight is the signing at Sam Goody on the Universal City Walk. I am looking forward to meeting some of the Westside people. I think it is from 7-9. It's 8:45 in the morning here in L.A. and I am waiting for Kevin and Bean to call from 106.7 KROQ. Looks like we actually have some weather for a change. I love the rain and overcast days here as we get so few of them. Last night was Love Lines. I had fun, but I was so tired. I was recording all day with the guys and it is sounding killer. It's hard to sound bad with Perkins and Chaney as a rhythm section.
I'll see some of you later,
Dave

hey dave! good luck on the show this morning :)
i caught you on extra being interviewed by sugar ray's mark mcgrath last nite. i loved the comment about wanting a little girl....aww how cute! my mom thought that was so cute, too.
thanks, emily & emma. again, i do intend to be a supportive fan and see the good in all people despite mistakes. "i love all of you, hurt by the cold" hehe sorry, it's been awhile since i've heard that record!

Any chance that you are gonna go to other states and do the book tour or is this one tonight the last one for you??? I'm hoping I can get the book soon!!!
Rainy days are always nice!!! Rainy just so reminded me on Bret Michaels and his little girl Raine. Enough of the off topic stuff.

Dave,
Four words... IMA BOUT TA DO!
Seriously though, I just wanted to congratulate you on living through the darkness. No small feat. I had lived the same way for years. In fact, I think I recognized a couple of faces from the strips as former "business associates." After many relapses, I finally had to move from Hollywood in order to clean up. I've been clean for just over seven years. I came to realize that while I wasn't truly suicidal...I didn't really care if I lived or died. That is a fucking sad place to be but I am stronger now because of it. I know that nothing else can control me ever again. So the message of hope that you talked about definitely rings true for me.
Also, I want to say that I think it's great that you are donating your proceeds to the Musician's Assistance Program. I know that MAP has helped a lot of my favorite musicians. Scott, Bob and Swan to name a few.
You are definitely "tha Man!"
Rock on!

Yeah! Dave posted! See I still get excited! :D
This is a down on my hands and knees begging plea:
It's my 38th birthday tomorrow. Please please can someone get DTTAH and have Dave sign it? If you're going to the LA signings. I've said this before~I will pay all expenses.
Cool news~ Marilyn Manson is going to be in a movie..Alice in Wonderland, as The Queen of Hearts!! Excellent! :D
Love to all, have fun tonight Dave and 6767ers.
Love Lisa xxxx

I absolutely love today's photo. Period.
I am still waiting for the book to get delivered, i bothered the mail order company with an "emergency case"-email today, lol!!!
A question for Dave: Read "THE DIRT"? I suppose so... It's a great read i think. Kinda "heavy" but i could not stop reading........yeah...
have a good day all,
lots of love,

Happy Day before your birthday, Lisa!!!
I have posted this before, but I am pretty redundant, so, here goes
If you live overseas, and you want a copy of Dave's book signed, you REALLY need to call Booksoup, go to website, or email me for phone number.
Dave said in his last post that after the 2 la signings, the book tour will be an "historical fact". I am assuming that means NO MORE....
Calling Booksoup is easy, the people there are wicked cool, they take credit cards, and I think he personalizes them.
ok, that's enough, call first, if no help, email me. I am going on Thursday, but who knows what can happen before then, remember, I am teetering on the edge of sanity...I don't want to be held responsible for my actions

have lots of fun, Dave... and dave and or whitepony, I did the "proper version" like I said I would, but the anatomy is terrible again. I think I missed out an entire joint on the front legs... anway I hope it's okay.

Hey Rob, Thanks for posting that link up. I am not too happy about it. I would love to see the pics but ugh, I really don't like Carmen. Sorry Dave. I used to like her until she married Dave. But, I think I would cry if I read it. But if they need a slave I am willing to give my life up to worship them. lol.
When is the book gonna come out? Right on! Good for her. As long as there are Awsome pics I will buy it.

awww jez, you can't make it tonight?
And for the people going to the Sam Goody signing. The rules to get a wristband were
1. Buy the book there between the 5th and 11th and get a wristband.
or
2. Go there from 7am-7pm to get one. Crazy if you ask me! We dragged our asses there Friday ($10 parking, grrrrr) and got the band. :)

Dave,
What do you think of House music and the dance club culture? Do you dig or are you a full time rocker.
Posted by: boozo at October 12, 2004 12:04 PM
Hey, Dave
What’s up family?
I was really glad to see this pic of the book signing today on 6767... Wow! What an achievement for you, Dave. This must be what “closure really stands for, I suppose. I mean, finishing this very dark chapter (actually, several chapters) of your life on a positive note and having a book to show everyone, to share and to inspire others...! Wow! Awesome, man! Mega kudos! BTW, did I mention that I fuck*ng love you? OK, so now I did! ;o)
(Also, I gotta say that you look really GREAT on the pic, Dave. Very well-balanced, peaceful and handsome as ever – a true gentleman on top of ita ll, especially with the “fuck you! signature thing! Lol! My God, how I´d like to have one of those! Hey, do you think if I could fed ex my copy of DTTAH to you could sign it and send it back to me here in Brazil? Of course I´d make sure all expenses were on me).
Anyway, I´m thrilled about the book! Gotta order my copy of it as soon as I finish this post.
And on another note...
Do you guys, any of you... Do you ORKUT at all?? This is what I’m talking about: www.orkut.com
It’s a real “fever right here in Brazil – although it’s an international thing, really. Anyway, everybody is doing it and it´s lots of fun cos we can interact and see each others pictures and all that - kinda like we do here and over there at white pony’s but in a much bigger “cyber universe, where everyone can see us... well, I guess what I’m trying to say is that I´d really love to brag about my Internet 6767 family and show everyone how much love we have going on around here, oh yeah! And also it would be MEGA f*cking cool to have DAVE NAVARRO on our list of friends online huh? Just think about that!
So please send me your thoughts on this one, everybody... In case you guys are interested, all I have to do is start sending you guys invitations and that’s it. My email, BTW is: luiz_marcondes@hotmail.com
OK? Peace out!
Love you all!
Luiz Marcondes
(that dude form Brazil, you know)
PS:
(hey, Dave I’ve been feeling a lil down cos you haven’t really answered any of my questions in the past month or so – OK, I admit many of them were kinda lame, but still... – So can you please say “Hey, Luiz, my man! Don’t be such a wuss and stop complaining! Of course I still love ya, I love all you guys! or something along those lines, please? lol! ;o) That would be MUCH appreciated! Thank you!)
Posted by: Luiz Marcondes at October 12, 2004 12:07 PM

Yeah, I've been a little sad too, I really like the Q and A posts from Dave.

haha, that's a good way to sign a book to someone who will auction it on Ebay or something for an outrageous amount.
Hope you're not as tired today Dave! though it'll probably be a long night for you. You can let Carmen nurse your blisters and aching hand afterwards ;)
looking forward to meeting all the 6767.com people!

happy bday lisa :D hope you have a good day with lots of people saying sweet things to you!..and presents and cake!
wow, that should be fascinating, Marilyn Manson as The Queen of Harts in Alice in Wonderland!!
small question to end this lovely tuesday with, can i order DTTAH on amazon.com or something simular or is that impossible and is it smarter to order it on book soup? and is there a big prizedifference, because i don't need it to be signed per se, but if all the shippingcosts aren't that much higher than when i just order it on internet.........
okay, this last 'small' question is a bit vague....but if there's anyone out there who understands what i'm trying to say, that would help.
love you all, sweet dreams, emma

Anyway, Blanca, my love, no worries, I don't need your money, just your company....I'm glad you are ok, prayers for your nephew, I'll save the lecture...
EMMA!!! I ordered one copy from Amazon, following link at Pony's site, was only 20 and change, plus shipping!!!! But it's not SIGNED!!!
But, as of today, I have ordered two more from BookSoup, cause I promised that 'friend' of mine, the one who is a 'better fan than I am, cause he loves Dave for his ART!! but I REALLY want Dave to sign it like the pic!!!

Didn't you just hAtE going to school and being told what to do and where you could and could not go, and what time to go there?
I hAtEd being a child. Seriously, childhood never became me. Growing up was the smartest thing I ever did ;)

Wait a minute, Hate, it's such a strong word.
I hated my childhood, adolescence, and most of teenage years. But I miss being able to do what I want, and my mom will clean up my mess. I miss being able to take off on a Tuesday to go to CityWalk to see Dave, because I have homework. I miss not being able to go to concerts because I have to save my money for the light bill, or clothes for my son. Oh, that's right, I miss not being responsible for someone other than myself
on the other hand, just typing this made me think of him, and how close we are, nevermind....selfish jezzi

Hi rob8008,
"dave do you know who the guest musicians at the irving plaza NYC camp freddy show are gonna be????"
I posted this info last week; Fred Schneider of the B52s & Lou Reed will be performing at the Irving Plaza show in addition to Camp Freddy & The Roots. Actress Kyra Sedgwick is the Host.
I'm sure there will be even more special guests~!!
Check out The Voice, perhaps they added more guests to the Vanity Fair ad.

A memory for me that you would in no way remember(silly fan making you laugh at 2 different shows in NY ). Anyway, Im glad things are going well for you. At some points of the book I was in disbeleif at how lucky you were to be so in deep and get out alive. I also want to say your perspective is a gift I understand and cherish. Its truely beautiful that you understand yourself in such a way you do.And for this you will ALWAYS be ok. I cant wait to see you play live the 21st. Its always a good day for me to watch you play. Keep doing what you love-you infect the rest of us.

Dave- make sure you get lots of rest...don't want you to get burned out and sick!!

Hi Fam,
I just remembered did anyone catch Loveline last night? Dave mentioned that the next TPC show would be November 16 or 17th. Just thought I should mention that.
I haven’t had a chance to read every post yet so I don’t know if someone mentioned this already.
Jezzi,
“ (I HATE being a grownup!!) me too except for the drinking part and getting to do whatever I want part well actually sometimes I hate that too. I hate being “responsible smonsible and not having someone fix my mistakes. I hate having to pay for the consequences of my actions. I don’t know how people with kids do it; I can’t even take care of myself. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to handle the responsibility of taking care of another human life. I’m far too egotistical and self destructive. Jezzi you are doing a great job. Keep it up kid.
Somebody mentioned buttons. RRrr I ordered some about 2 weeks ago and still nothing. They said they were shipped last week. Hopefully they’ll be in before Thursday.
Hope you guys are having a great time at the book signing. Can’t wait to go Thursday.

Chantelle... the grass is always greener on the other side... I was wearing makeup at 11, smoking at 13, in bars at 15... I was just racing to act like a grownup. But see, I could do all of those things now, and I'm 30... except now, I really do need the makeup, I cough when I smoke, and I can barely hold my liquor. It was much more fun doing those things as a kid. And going even further back, I would love to be 3... because 3 was easy... no social issues.... mommy takes care of everything... plus, you barely remember anything that happens. As they say, ignorance is bliss. :-)
Jezebel sweetie... I was quoting a KMFDM song. Sorry if you thought I was calling you geriatric. Now where'd I put my Ben-Gay?

I've found that the best way to deal with missing being a kid is to work with them. I was never interested in teaching, but I got into the field anyway. It was the best thing I ever did. I learn something from the kids every single day. You start to realize just how simple life can be and how much daily stress is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. For the kids, if it was "Pizza Day", it was a good day. Period. If they earned a sticker too, then it was fantastic. Simple as that, and that simplicity is something to treasure, because it's essentially what separates youth from adulthood. Being exposed to that perspective all day helps me to remember to appreciate those little things because they mean so much.
Just like when I was a kid, my day ends at 3:00 and I'm only there 180 days a year. I love that, and being around kids all day, keeps me young at heart. Yet, when a student from the past hunted me down 7 years later to say, "Thank you for making such a difference for me" it reinforced that being a grownup is pretty cool too.
Spreading the love,
Deena

Question so is at 6 or 7??? Dave mentioned it was at 6 but it's listed at 7. It takes so little to confuse me.

Event Details:
Dave Navarro signs Don’t Try this at Home
Sex, stars, drugs and a single photo booth. Grammy nominated rock and roll guitarist Dave Navarro (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction) spent 1998-1999 as a reclusive, voyeueristic, self-destructive ‘Wizard of Oz’, capturing the images of visitors to his Hollywood Hills mansion. Within the pages of his book lies a parade of rock stars, Hollywood headliners and notorious miscreants who found their way into Navarro’s lair, and the photo booth at its center. Co-written by bestselling author Neil Strauss (How to Make Love Like a Porn Star, The Dirt with Motley Crue), Don’t Try this at Home is the compelling story of Navarro’s yearlong experiment.
This will be a ticketed event. Please call for information, (310) 659-3110 (Regan Books)

Deena? You are a teacher? When did I miss that? AWESOME!!
You have the 19 month old, too, right?
Were you also the one that made the calendar?
Anyway, I am a teacher and a mom too!! Thanks for the splash of cold water!!
You really are....spreading the love!

Teachers don't get enough respect, not to mention enough money. Deena, I applaud you for taking on a career I would never have the patience for. I was a dance teacher briefly... my students were very uncoordinated 8-year-olds. They made me nuts. It takes a special person to be a teacher, and I can step right up and admit, I ain't that special. :-)
Posted by: Adina at October 12, 2004 08:30 PM
Oh wow... Jezebel, applause for you as well.
Posted by: Adina at October 12, 2004 08:31 PM
Dave! you look so young and innocent in that pic...like you're 5 and just got your hand caught in the cookie jar, but know you're going to get the cookie anyway (who wouldn't give you a cookie with a face like that?) lol...just thought i'd say that
to all the LA people...have an extreme amount of fun tonight at the book signing...please! lol.

Hey guys how's it goin? You West Coast mofos must be having an awesome time I know I did over here in NYC, thanks Dave for doing this. I finally finished reading the book (I decide to take my time to digest and get some comprehension from it all), VERY uplifting especially in part III, "A Triumphant Return". It showed that people can change and gave me hope that I can as well.
To whoever gave me the advice on the last post I had (i think it was definitely you emily!) thanks you are right. It's just I'm in this mindset where "I" can control everything and almost refuse to believe in a higher power because it means loss of control but man, we're just human and thankfully someone has made me understand that. In retrospect, I wasn't so afraid as I was angry that someone made such a statement, which is completely stupid on my part, I take offense way too easily :( anyways love you very much guys and to all of you

you make..." The End-Beatles

*waves to everyone*
Ok, so I'm watching Celebrity Blackjack, been watching since 10:00 (it's 11:30 now) and they've played the same episode twice ... neither of which have Dave; but, it's okay ... it's all good! Now that I know how it ends, I'm making my own fun and yelling at them to play differently (through the tv of course cause *scoffs* they can soooo hear me).
Props to Jez and Deena for being teachers, inarguably one of the most noble professions out there, especially these days.
My favorite high school teacher, Mr. Roman, taught me my love of the law; and, when I decided what I wanted to be when I grew up, it's because of him that I became a paralegal.
As for the childhood/adulthood question, I miss the simplicity of childhood, and would readily give up the whole "bill paying" thing ... wouldn't mind having more years ahead of me. *thinks* What was the lyric? 'The sun is the same in the relative way but you're older/shorter of breath and one day closer to death'.
LOL -- ok, I must be having one of my '35 really sucks' days.
GSN is saying that the Celebrity Blackjack with "Play Me" Dave Navarro is next week, 10 p.m.
I'm a smarta$$ kind of girl (prefer the term 'witty'); so, that must be blood I'm tasting from biting my tongue so hard. LMAO
Con mille bacio,
~~ Lori

Hey Dave...It was really great meeting you tonight and I promise I'll stop lurking and post more. I'm new here to LA and not having the easiest time with it. But today was one of those magical days that LA serves you up just when you think you can't take it anymore. I got to meet you at the instore and I saw one of my favorite actors, Sean Kanan at a red light. Didn't I read somewhere that you know/knew him? So here's to new beginnings...I read in your book where you said that "almost every dream I've ever had has been handed to me". That is a great way to think and feel.
Sally
PS..I think it's great that you are donating proceeds to MAP. It always makes me feel good to buy something that is in someway helping others.

Sounds like you're all having fun, looking forward to the book's UK release. Checked out BookSoup and regret not placing an order, oh well.
4 Days til I get to Vegas and can barely contain myself! Got saome tips on gigs on when I'm there... Alice Cooper, Megadeth (didn't know they were still going, but DM seems like a nice bloke) and Jose Felliciano. Think the latter would be the best, nice and chilled, very talented and probably more like the sort of think I should see in Vegas!
Just wondering whether Kings Of Leon's new album is out over there yet? Any recommendations?

You like rain Dave? You should check out the big island of Hawaii. We gets lots of rain here. In fact, we get just about every climate on earth here from tropical rain forests to snow on the mountain. Have a great signing.

John,
We asked dave to put up some tabs earlier, but he said he is not familiar with guitar tabs... he must be old school and learn all the covers either by sheet music or by ear. I'm a chop guitar player and learn everything from tab. I kept hoping the would release a TNO tab book but it never happened.
If you find any good tabs please please let me know.

Tracey,
Steve posted one song over on his site and a clip of him talking. Steve said the entire show would not be released. It is saddening, but i am not sure there is much we can do.

Well hello there Dave!
I can't begin to tell you what a great time I had meeting you last night! If I seemed at all like a deer caught in headlights, it's because I wasn't prepared for you to be so amazingly friendly. Not to mention that you knew who I was from CFR and this site! All in all... an unforgetable experience. Thanks Dave!

Dave, My girlfriend bought your book yesterday for me while I was at work and she ended up reading the whole thing in one day! She couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read it I've been a fan of yours for a long time, I'm glad your doing well and are in a better place. It turns out me and you have a mutual friend, Jimi Dunlop. I've known him for a long time and I guess he's friends with Chris Chaney too. I was with Jimi when I met you at the last Lolapalooza you played at Shoreline in Mountain View CA. Anyways, my love goes out to you and your family. Jason Cook
