Hi Dave,

how's your working out routine while you're in NYC? do you visit gym?
any chances to post here your working out week schedule? i'd be very interested.

have a nice day,

Hi Dave,
I was just wondering..
How does carmen feel about all of your body paintings..
I know that being your wife she is probably very supportive of you and your ideas but does she actually "like" or "approve" of them or help you pick them out?

Posted by: adam at October 6, 2004 05:36 AM

Dave & DN Family,

It was great to meet Dave the other day. He was sooo cool. When I told him that I was "Mike from NYC", his eyes lit up and greeted me like an old friend. My girlfriend and her sister really thought that we met before. Thank you Dave for being so nice and friendly. You really made my day.
Quick question Dave: In the book you mention a quote from a Woody Allen film. ¿What film was it from & what context was it used in?

Hey Denise, Hector, Blondiemofo & all of the others I met on Monday. I think that I met Itanja too. I am going to the show next Thursday. I know that Blondiemofo is going to the show. ¿What about the rest of you? Hope to see you there.

Later,
Mike from NYC

A new day

FreAk-glad to read your diong better today, good to talk with you earlier.

Jezzi-how are you today sweetie, any better?

Dave-i'm really pleased to read that Anthony and yourself are friends, some media articles i read a while ago gave the impression that this wasn't the case, good to know they're wrong.

It would be awsome if TPC and RHCP could tour together.

It's my last day of being 31 today,i've got the week off work(a little prezzie to myself)in the hope i would be out enjoying myself, instead all i've done is tidy my home and sleep in late, feels like a waste of a week, better than working though.

Boooyyyaaa, MOOYYAA!!!
(Does THAT answer your question?)
All of you, my adopted family, helped put things in perspective, and this morning,I received the most beautiful email from Aimee, who took the advice I gave her a couple weeks ago, when I first came to this site, and sent it back to me ten times better. Aimee, I love you.

6767 peeps, make sure you read Dave's comment at the end of the last post, where he talks about how INSANE it would be to line up at 7 am. According to employee PHIL< (get the name, dudes, always get the name), If you have a wristband, signing is guaranteed, no matter where you are in line. Seriously, do you think Dave would leave us hangin? oh, ye of little faith...

jezzi's cheesy statement of the day...My heart is full of love for all of you, you are a special group of people.
Abby, you are a riot....NOW, fill out that app!!
off I go with my box of research, signifying nothing...perspective, the word of the day is...perspective...

Hey Dave,
Got your book on Sunday, couldn't put it down, I finished it last night (had to go to work or it would have been a one shot deal). Amazing, sad, funny, can't say enough. You are so brave to put it all out there.
But the question of the day is: Do you think you'll do Venus in Furs w/Lou Reed at the VF/CF show on the 21st? Hope so! and
Hope you are enjoying NY, you should come out east (I'm way out, exit 68 off the LIE) on Long Island, we'll take you guys pumpkin picking!

FreAk~That radio this is so cool, I'll be sure to check in! Thanks! :D

Steve L~One day early I know, but Happy b~day! :D
I'm turning 22 later this year, and to celebrate I'm taking the whole year off, so you shouldn't feel like it's a waste of a week :p (I'm not completely serious, by the way...I'm "studying" ;)

And to Dave and everyone else~ Enjoy your week!

Have a good one, everyone!

Hey Dave, I got a kick out of "Great Steve Vai" debate. It supplied me with a response when people try to discount an artist's work as a whole. When I was around 13 and first started on guitar I had you, Van Halen, Page and Hendrix as my mentors. When I grew older, 18, I actually had an internship with a sound engineer in the area whom I greatly admired and respected. We talked guitar players and I remember I brought you up and he went "agh, that guy's never done anything good, medicore, blah blah" and I remember I was just CHRUSHED because I took his comment to heart and wondered if believing in you was me just being stupid and a waste of my time. I didn't want to play any Janes stuff just because it would make me think that. And then I listened to "Nothing's Shocking", the Ocean Size intro (which was the first piece of yours I ever heard) and realized fuck him, maybe he can't find the magic in your playing that holds me in awe and appreciation the same way I can't find anything bad or medicore about your playing. Thank you Dave for being such a great guitar player, teacher, and awesome human being.

hey everyone, i was feeling very negative yesterday, but i spended the entire evening to read the posts of 'the island' cause i hadn't read them yet. and everyone is so positive, surporting each other, saying sweet things to the persons who were feeling down, giving good advice, spreading the love, giving attention to the persons who needed it. and sometimes it felt like you guys were saying it to me..but the most of all i was just feeling all the love. today i feel a lot better and enjoying the new post of Dave.
this family is great and it's becoming somekind of an addiction to me..
love you all, emma

Hi hector!(screw your guitar teacher by the way lol...he's an ass if he can't see the awesomeness of dave) and hi Mike from NYC it was so great meeting you guys as well as ellen, itanja, denise among others. you guys are awesome...i really hope to see you at the camp freddy show and we can all like hang together and form a blockade of 6767 people for support lol

freak-thanks so much for that link to the archive! i can never listen to camp freddy radio for some reason or other, mostly cause it's 9-11 here in ny which is the most busy hours for me on saturday lol...so i really appreciate that

i really loved that woody allen quote about how he wouldn't compare himself to narcissus but zeus ha ha...that's so me :-).

oh...and reminder...this site runs on west coast time...add three hours to the time on the posting and that's the time of the zone where dave is in (ie...ny time lol) so...if dave posts at 6:30 am...it's really 9:30 in NY...but that's still pretty early lol

good luck dave with your ny trip and i'm glad as well to hear you're still friends with anthony kiedis!

Posted by: blondimofo at October 6, 2004 07:29 AM

Thanks Steve, yes I did change tutors. Today is my first day with the new tutor, but I have talked to him and I like his approach. We like some of the same music, so that's great. He says he likes to know what music people like first and then takes it from there~teaches them what they like. :D
One of his first questions, was what music do you like? Right on!
It's been stormy and windy here, and that gives me migraines unfortunately, but I'll still be doing my lesson. :)
Thanks for hoping is goes away.

Any plans for your bday Steve? Amazing that there are so many Libras around here. :O

Hector, a similar thing just happened to me, and I switched tutors. That's why I have a new one today. The last one had me teary because I told him I love the RHCP, and he later said something nasty about their music. He's just a mean old man. ;)

Posted by: ylais at October 6, 2004 07:37 AM

Oh come on dave, anthony amazing? don't lie to us like that. we all know how he acts in public and how he treats people that aren't his dad or a groupie.

Just for everyone here, i am going to take the opportunity to sum up "Scar Tissue"...

BORN
-- Anthony meets Flea --
Flea makes amazing music and takes anthony along for the ride
-- Anthony writes book that overexagerates his own importance in the RHCP --
END.

Jezzi- glad to hear you have that key word for the day! Perspective is important. One day at a time and take the small victories. They add up. I'm glad I could help, your advice was exactly what I needed a few weeks ago also. SO Dave is putting together a group of people that really play a part in each other's lives! I will jot you a note later Jezz. Happy and fulfilling day to everyone! Aimee

Hey, Dave Just wanted to say that the interview this morning on Andy Savage (Seattle) was great. Your Voice sounded full of Positive energy and love. Sorry about setting you up, (Having Perk Call in) actually I am not, it worked out great. Lots of response on the phone lines about The Panic Channel before I left the station, This Morning. I am still retired living up in Seattle Just celebrated 12 years of sobriety(Sept 1st)and have devoted my life to helping the addict that still suffers. If you ever get a phone call from someone in Seattle needing help I am here (Eric Avery can vouch for it) to help. Once again Congrats on the Marriage and the sobriety, you sound great.

WOOHOO!!! I thought the FUSE thing passed already, but I found out yesterday (Tuesday) that it hadn't, so I sent in a request to be in the audience and found out not too long ago that I get to go today to see Dave. Let me reiterate -WOOHOO!!! Of course, I couldn't take pictures at the book signing on Monday, and I forgot the camera I was going to bring to tonight's book signing with Anthony Kiedis. Damn! Definitely need a disposable camera, at least.

Dave,

Let me clarify my question. The Woody Allen line that I was referring to is on page 180. "...idea for series-poor loser agrees to write a book about a great man's life, and in the process comes to learn deep values." ¿Where is it from?
Blondie, Denise, Itanja, Hector & Ellen: ¿What time do you all plan on arriving at Irving Plaza next week? The doors open at 7pm. Just askin'.

Jezzi and Freak- I may be new, but if you need anything let me know... You can email if you need to. Just try and stay positive.... I know that is easier said than done, but it does work.
Just thought I would say hello and see how you all have been in the last 2 days... I am off to work. Decided I am going to get Scar Tissue now.... wanted DTTAH first of course :)

haha u guys are nuts, I really don't think I should go to the camp freddy show but AGH, fuck it, I'll definitely now try to go. Yea, the guy wasn't a guitar teacher but a sound engineer who's worked in the industry for years, as I was trying to get my foot in the door but I grew a real dis-taste for that field (although I know I shouldn't generalize the people in the record industry).

oh and for the people in la...if you're going to the book signing there...don't beat yourselves up trying to get there waaay early...i got there only two hours ahead of time, and was able to get the wristband and the book and have time to go have a bite to eat with ellen (yay ellen...you're too cool lol) and get back...and get a really good place in line...so don't get there at like 7 am...cause you'll really kick yourself if you have to stand around and wait for hours on end...i'd say a good window is 2-3 hours ahead of time...then use some of the extra time to eat something or go to the bathroom. i hope that helps some of you guys!

Dave- Hope all is well. I got DTTAH finally after years of waiting and I finally finished reading it at 1:42 AM last night. All I can say is that I am stoked your alive, happy and healthy. The book really made me think about myself and my perceptions. A kind of reality check for me. All I can say is "Thank You-Dave!!!"

OMG! I love my new guitar teacher! :D Yeah. Thank you Dave for the encouragement you gave me to change teachers. My new teacher rocks! :D We've been having a great time, laughing and man he knows his stuff. He played Californication right off cos he told me to choose music to learn that I want to play. Wahey! We've just been yapping about how great this guitarist is and that one, and this song, and all that, and yes I am learning too. And he was playing stuff and I was singing parts I knew. LOL. :D

quote from six7six7:
"BORN

-- Anthony writes book that overexagerates his own importance in the RHCP --

I read that story in MOJO magazine, June 2004 issue, approx.
Well, something close to it anyway.
I have never met Anthony so I have no comment on that. I like his persona well enough. And I was crazed over him for a while there in the very early nineties. Hey, look I love music, and he's a great frontman. Why do people say stupid things like he can't sing? He can. End of that story.

Posted by: ylais at October 6, 2004 10:59 AM

Steve L. Funny, I get nervous around my bdays too now, have done for a few years now. Ditto, a couple of bad ones and that's what happens I guess.
But I bet you'll have a good time just having an easy going one. I play it by ear too.
Is that a Libra thing? lol.

I wish I had Dave's book. Is there anyone going to the NJ one that can get me a book, and have Dave sign it, and I will pay you all costs. Up front. Anyone?
I couldn't get in touch with the bookstore, and my family over there are workaholics. :( I haven't even got replies from them. Bummer.

lisa...it must be a libra thing cause my birthday is in three days and i'm really nervous about it for some reason...i don't know why lol...i never really had anything bad happen on my birthday too...i think it's just the paranoia that family/friends will forget about it lol.

well...just wanted to say happy birthday to a fellow libra...we rule! lol...i'm on this site way too much...it's what happens when you get out of classes by early afternoon lol

Posted by: blondimofo at October 6, 2004 11:18 AM

Emily, that's uncanny. All of us Libras. Nothing really bad has happened on my birthday, just a couple of bdays with my grandmother and mother getting themselves all worked up over my birthday, and getting in a fight over silly things like what to do, where to go, or stay in, what food to buy, etc. It's my birthday, and there they were fighting and forgot about me. O.o So that's where mine comes from. And I was an adult then. O.o
lmao. It is funny really if you're looking in from the outside. Considering making a comedy show about my family.

Think you could sign the cover of that mag too if I bring it...or is that against the rules?

Peace to all and happy Wednesday!

Hi Mike from NYC,

Yes we met, I was the person who showed you the 'Deconstruction' CD in my Discman.

I guess I didn't introduce myself intially. We did speak awhile. I was also the person who was on line behind you & asked if we had to buy the book before getting on the line. We also talked about how we purchased tickets for the Camp Freddy Irving Plaza gig. You said you bought them at the club & I said I ordered them online.

Great talking to you!

Mike don't go to the IP Camp Freddy gig NEXT week, it's on October 21st! LOL

Write to us (our emails are linked here) & we'll make some sort of plans to meet outside.

The doors open early for this gig, at 7PM, so I guess we'll have to get there earlier, then again doors never open on time at IP! It's usually an extra half hour to hour wait before they let ticket holders inside.

take care,
itanja

PS...Gotta LOVE Six7Six7, he really says what's on his mind, I really respect that! Hi Joe~~!! Miss your writing, thought I'd see you in NYC on the book line.

Joke of the day:

Woman: Is there a problem, Officer?

Officer: Ma'am, you were speeding.

Woman: Oh, I see.

Officer: Can I see your license please?

Woman: I'd give it to you but I don't have one.

Officer: Don't have one?

Woman: Lost it 4 times for drunk driving.

Officer: I see...Can I see your vehicle registration papers please.

Woman: I can't do that.

Officer: Why not?

Woman: I stole this car.

Officer: Stole it?

Woman: Yes, and I killed and hacked up the owner.

Officer: You what?

Woman: His body parts are in plastic bags in the trunk if you want to see.

The Officer looks at the woman and slowly backs away to his car and calls for back up. Within minutes 5 police cars circle the car. A senior officer slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun.

Officer 2: Ma'am, could you step out of your vehicle please!

The woman steps out of her vehicle.

Woman: Is there a problem sir?

Officer 2: One of my officers told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner.

Woman: Murdered the owner?

Officer 2: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car, please.

The woman opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk.

Officer 2: Is this your car, ma'am?

Woman: Yes, here are the registration papers.

The officer is quite stunned.

Officer 2: One of my officers claims that you do not have a driving license

The woman digs into her handbag and pulls out a clutch purse and hands it to the officer. The officer snaps open the clutch purse and examines the license. He looks quite puzzled.

Officer 2: Thank you ma'am, one of my officers told me you didn't have a license, that you stole this car, and that you murdered and hacked up the owner.

Woman: Bet you the lying bastard told you I was speeding, too!

Angel,
You know I was, and then.....
Well, I was just reading on someone's public blog that they are a little upset that SO many people have joined the 6767 community. Am I a post hog? Should I not share my sorrows, or my triumphs? I would really like to hear Dave's response. Dave, do you have a response? I'm a big girl, I can take it.

Should there be rules as to what we post, what we talk about, how many of us can be called "true" 6767? Are we in HIGH school?

I remember being in another weblog group, that elevated your member status based on number of posts, and so people called themselves elevated on the basis of quantity, not quantity, or length of membership, or whatever...

I have NOT changed my mind about the people I have met here, and I would HATE to feel I am not welcome...

Just so everyone knows what is being said. I am the author of the blog that jezzi is refering to.

I want to make a public statement that this post was not directed to the people who post here daily. I feel these people are the heart of the community and valualbe assets. I don't care if you have been active since the old 6767 or since last week. I care that you care about this community.

I have said this before and I will probally get burned at the stake for saying this again. I just feel that if we could get this more organized it would be easier for Dave to read and respond to. There seems to be alot of one time posts that aren't in direct relation to the community or to dave's posts. I feel these entries would best be suited to a guestbook that dave can read.

Picture this... you are dave and have 20 minuets in the morning to update the site. How many of the 100+ comments do you think he has time to read.

Dave i love you and you can personally tell me to STFU and keep my opinions to myself.

This is THE BEST online community that I have ever been a part of and I would hate to see this change. With the increasing popularity of TPC and with the amount of Buzz we are creating this site will continue to grow to a point where it may be uncontrollable in this format. And that scares me.

Again this isn't my site and I should probally just shut up.

Thats my stance. I didn't mean to offend anyone or say that someone isn't welcome.

Much love to the entire 6767 community. I just want the best.

Humbly,
WhitePony

i just saw dave on fuse...oh man...it was so great...esp that part where dave said to the male vj "maybe we should get her to leave...we have a thing going on here?" lol...great show! you were fantastic on it...and you definitely accomplished the non-glamorization of drug use in your book...bravo!

Hey Dave, hey family,

Pony, don't apologise for how you feel. I get where you're coming from.

As a person who generally uses the web to post any old crap I feel like saying, I always feel honour bound not to do that here (OK so that may be what I'm doing right now, but you get the drift?).

This place is really diverse, which is great. People have a freedom to express themselves.

I don't want to offend anyone either, but if I have loads of stuff "going on" I tend to talk elsewhere.
(I'll always be a shoulder, but there are more public places too!)

PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL (big Yeah-heh to all the new uncles cousins and brother-in-laws by marriage twice removed) (big Yeah-heh to all the oldsters) (and needless to say big respect to "the man")

Dave, has Steve gone into mad professor mode? Has he got big bags under his eyes?

Peace Out
RP

haha some of you are probably thinking "why in the world is she long jokes being posted on here?" if you find it annoying, don't be afraid speak up.
Dave has pretty much said before that we can make ourselves at home here and I figured someone could use a laugh today.

I also see it like this- we can have nothing but people asking Dave questions which he obviously usually doesn't have all the time in the world to answer... OR we can give Dave a break while he is busy working and talk amongst ourselves and he can jump in with any comments as he has been doing.

that was supposed to say "why in the world is she posting long jokes on here?"
sorry!

Posted by: mortisha8 at October 6, 2004 04:12 PM

Mortisha,

The post wasn't directed at you either. You post here constantly and we love what you bring to the community.

We can all use a laugh!

Whitepony, and Maria

You both have good points, and my feeling is that Dave will let us know if something should change, so in the meantime, lets be respectful of each other...everyone wants to be able to speak freely, but if you post every detail of your daily life, you can be sure most 6767'ers won't or can't read it all anyway, so why bother?

Mike from NYC,

The Woody Allen quote is from "Crimes and Misdemeanors" starring Woody and Alan Alda from MASH. One of my favorite movies of all time. Not considered one of his "classics" (Annie Hall, Stardust Memories, Manhattan) but it's my favoritye Woody movie, and one of my top 5 ever. Check it out.

Dave and Carmen are advertised as going to be on CNBC on the "Next Big Idea" in 4 minutes, 8:00 pm EST. Don't know if it includes appearances or not, but that's what the promo said.

Hi WhitePony,

" There seems to be alot of one time posts that aren't in direct relation to the community or to dave's posts. I feel these entries would best be suited to a guestbook that dave can read."

I really didn't want to respond to THIS little 'controversy' but I am going to.....

So then, WHO was your post directed to? You telling folks here; "I didn't mean YOU..."
Just curious, believe me, I have nothing to be defensive about, because I mostly post Dave info, links & once in awhile personal stuff, like my turtle story. Which wasn't really personal because we all know that Dave once had a turtle.

I think that Dave actually reads the posts directed to him. Sometimes, if another 'personal' post catches his eye, he probably reads that too. WHY assume that Dave only takes a short amount of time to read the posts?? Do you truly know whether or not he sometimes travels with a laptop? Believe me, there is A LOT of waiting around before interviews, talk show appearances, at the airport etc....Dave could be reading the weblog during his downtime. I've learned from my many years on this planet to NEVER assume things.

I spoke to Neil Strauss at the signing, we spoke for awhile. Neil is a friendly, personable guy who really enjoyed meeting the fans. In fact, ALL of Dave's 'people' there were EXTREMELY decent & very cool. Neil told me he always reads this weblog, he didn't complain about the length OR contents of ANY of it, he even remembered MY posts. I was totally floored by that! So don't make ANY assumptions about ANY of the stuff people post here. It's ALL being ENJOYED, by LOTS of people.

People in Dave's camp ARE very interested in OUR thoughts. When people come here to talk about their experiences in conjunction with Dave's life, the book etc....that is WHAT is SO GREAT about being able to 'talk' & interact here. Dave even mentioned that to me at the signing. "The POWER of the Internet", so to speak...if I may be so bold to paraphrase Dave! LOL

IMHO, while you are an extremely enthusiastic & loyal Dave fan, you really have to calm down about this weblog only being ABOUT Dave. The fans are a very BIG part of ANY musicians life, career & fame.

Dave realises we ARE a COMMUNITY, there isn't just one side to ANY story. One persons opinion really shouldn't be more important than anothers. We are simply sharing our thoughts & experiences. This place doesn't have to be all that structured for us to enjoy it & be PART of it.

There shouldn't be ANY cut & dried RULES to anyone posting here, which to me, seems as if that's what YOU want to do here. Am I ASSUMING that??

I have been a Dave/Jane's fan for a very loooooong time. I don't come here & complain that a good 90-95% of the people who have been here ARE NOT familiar names from ANY of the ORIGINAL Dave boards OR chats I've participated in years ago. Yet, I HAVE enjoyed reading EVERY thought posted here. ALL ARE WELCOME, as they SHOULD BE.

NO ONE here is a ''Better OR Bigger Dave Fan', I assume we all LOVE Dave....PERIOD. I'm an adult, I don't get into pissing contests. But if you are going to come here & be quite VAGUE about who exactly you are addressing, I'm going to come here & RANT.

I welcome ALL posters here & I WELCOME ALL OPINIONS & THOUGHTS. That's what the WORLD is about. I certainly don't think Dave would welcome this new 'alienation' aspect cropping up. Dave seems very cool about everything which OPENS up lines of communication between the fans & himself.

I think YOU have brought this up more than once. IMHO, if Dave hasn't addressed it....well...it probably isn't a problem. We should be extremely ELATED to actually have a FORUM to communicate with DAVE & meet some wonderful people in the process.
Yes this weblog IS about DAVE NAVARRO, it's also ABOUT US ALL.

Dave does truly appreciate the sense of COMMUNITY, FRIENDSHIP & SUPPORT he has found here. He told me that, as I'm sure he told MANY people he met at the NYC book signing.

IF Dave HIMSELF isn't complaining about the length OR content of our posts, WHY should anyone else? After all, he has the power to EDIT, he took off ALL of emi's posts.

Besides, as far as reading the 'unrelated' posts....not everyone has a short attention span. ;) If you aren't interested OR don't have the time to read ALL the posts, why not just PASS ON THROUGH??

SORRY, if I come across a little too 'heavy', but I am all about expressing myself, sometimes people here walk on eggshells when giving their opinions. You gave yours, I'm certainly not hesitant about giving mine. LOL

PEACE.

Just MY 2 cents~~!!

Take Care WhitePony,
itanja

And Thank You MARIA, I was thinking the SAME thing!

"I also see it like this- we can have nothing but people asking Dave questions which he obviously usually doesn't have all the time in the world to answer... OR we can give Dave a break while he is busy working and talk amongst ourselves and he can jump in with any comments as he has been doing"
