Dave, that's awesome. It's cool that you write in more than once a day. Love the pic of you with Lou. Almost done with the book, great read and I'm happy you're all healthy now. I can relate with the experience. You're a real inspiration and I'm not a musician. Quick question on the 16th or 17th of Nov are you guys playing at the Dragonfly again? My girlfriend has never seen you play live and I want to take her to the show. Take care.

Cool! I definitely outta get it. I got the previous one (Any Time At All) and loved it.
Hey Dave, you guys outta do a tour in Europe w/ TPC when you get the record out! I saw you play Stockholm w/ JA last November and you totally rocked the place! Now I'm addicted to seeing you live on stage!!
BTW my friend Kim's band (yes, it's a man's name out here) just got a record deal a few months ago. Check out their site out. Some mp3's and vids:

Hey everyone... Halloween is coming and no one here is "too old" to dress up, so what are you going to be?... I'm gonna be a victim of Jack the Ripper, but haven't decided on which one yet... any sugestions?

I'll have to go buy a copy of the new cd. The last two were great!
Hey Dave, what kind of pickup is in the bridge position of the strat you used at the Dragonfly gig? The guitar sounded great and had a thicker sound than the avg strat. It looked like a humbucker smashed into a single coil. Any other mods on that guitar? Thanks man.

Dave
When you talk about the Key Club show, that's in LA right? I ask because there is no listing on the website for the second. I was also wondering if you will release another solo album, or at least something where you sing? Trust No One was amazing, and I am dieing to hear more.

Dave!
That picture totally rocks man. You just get this vibe that there was so much respect being shared between you two.. I've always been a big VU fan. Actually, being a youngin' (27), my first pointer to VU was the t-shirt that John Frusciante was wearing during one of the scenes in "Funky Monks." Great documentary, turned me on to lots of things.
So Lou plays a Tele, huh? I've started to see those on stage more lately. It seems like they're taking on more popularity. Have you ever picked one up? Whaddya think? I know you have played Strats from time to time.

Hey D,
You seriously have to come to Canada.
I'm dying up here of lack of shows.
The last one I went to was RUSH at the Bell Center in Montreal.
Take it easy man.

Hey Everyone!!
Lori and Crecencia glad you liked the link!!:)
Best last minute costume idea: a sheet with two strategically placed holes. Best part of this costume: No one will know who you are much less how old you are!!
~Melissa~
Posted by: Melissa at October 27, 2004 07:26 PM
I know this won't apply really to many of you since the idea was for my daughter, but instead of buying a costume this year we made hers. She is a fishtank! She already went to a costume party/contest this past Saturday and won for most original. We took a box and colored it to look like a tank, the printed, colored and glued fish pictures to it. Added some plastic aquarium plants taped to it, and there it was. Homemade costumes really can rock! Too bad at 29 I feel too old to dress up!

Lori
you're never too old ;P
the fishtank costume sounds very cool
Posted by: skot at October 27, 2004 07:46 PM
Ooh, a fishtank...
Do you have any pictures of your little one in the fish tank? Sounds very cute.
And as skot said, you are never too old!

That fish tank idea is priceless.....! Let me see, I have been Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Nicks, Elvira WAY too many times....a gypsy, a jezebel(lol), hmmm, this year I am a black widow!
The perfect Halloween costume with me starts with basic black, eyelashes, and cleavage, and pretty much goes from there...
Oh my God, Banyan in Colorado for Thanksgiving...PONY!!!! Did you see that!! I am THERE!!

Last year, some friends and I went as members of the "Psychic Friends Network". Like, fortune teller wear with slippers, curlers and carrying a phone.
Some good ideas I've heard:
1) Bingo Ladies
2) Stages of Madonna
3) A toll booth
...and to Lisa in PA: You should have told me you were coming to Jersey! I would have taken the ride and met ya at Starbucks for coffee!

even though i'm not dressing up this year...i thought i'd mention some of my favorite past costumes as ideas for you all
-pee wee herman (yes...before he was a pervert lol)
-a tetley tea bag
-a chocolate chip cookie
-cher (lol)
those are pretty much my best costumes...esp. pee wee...i won a lot of contests for that when i was in first grade lol...good times good times
i LOVE that lou reed pic...i swear when you and him played Venus in furs together, it was a moment like no other...the place was hypnotized (NY show i'm talkin' bout)...such a great rock moment and you looked so...honored and just in awe to be there...it was a truly great moment and i was so glad i was there to experience it.
much love to all

I do have a link to one picture of Ashlyn as the fishtank. It was taken at the contest Saturday night. Just to let you know, she doesn't normally look so confused! Hehehe...she thought my sister was taking a picture of my neice..who is to the right of Ash in the picture..so she didn't smile. The reason her face is green is because we made her a plant that is sticking out of the fishtank. The green cap has leaves from an aquarium plant in it. We found out about the contest the same day, so we literally put the whole thing together in a matter of hours. So, it's not the best put together outfit, but she had so much fun actually making it that she appreciated it that much more!

Hi everyone~
I'm finally getting around to fixing up my blog. Maria, you had suggested us 6767 ppl linking blogs, which I think is a very good idea.
If you have a blog, or website, please send the address link to me. I'm working on it now. doing a season cleaning. :D
Just click on my name below and email the link to me. I may miss it if you post it on here. I'd be glad to put a list of blog/web links of 6767 family together too, so then we can all hook up. :D
Love and hugs to all

Lori - thats a great costume! v. original indeed! i luv costumes like that! so much fun!
here's is a cheezy one some of u may have heard before:
1. get a laundry basket/box, cut a hole in it
2. put it over your head
3. grab a sheet, cut a hole in it
4. put it over your head
5. draw a # 1 on the front of the sheet
6. put a lamp shade on yer head
presto magic, yer a one night stand.
c'mon what can i say, im a sucker for cheeze...

leanne,
Thank you! This is the first year we have made her costume, and I am so glad we did. It really made it special for her. She did most of the coloring and cutting of the fish, so she had to really work for it!
I LOVE your "cheesy" idea. So many good costumes can be made with very little or no cost!
~Lori~
Posted by: Lori_in_IL at October 27, 2004 09:50 PM
the best costumes are always made with the least amount of money...for my pee wee herman costume we borrowed a grey suit and used some red ribbon for the tie and some black hairspray/hair paint...about 5$ for the whole costume...and the same with my tea bag costume...about 5-10$ for the fabric (available at any store) and hten we just used blue construction paper for the tetley tea tag and then leaves from the ground as tea leaves...ahhh the fun of youthful ingenuity...hope everyone's halloween is great!

Nice ideas. Halloween isn't that big a deal in here but we do celebrate it sometimes with friends in case some1 is willing to put up a party. I like more the kind of guess-who-I-am costumes than scary ones. Two years ago I was Larry Flint. Too bad I blew it as I got more drunk and wouldn't stay in the wheelchair of my friend's late grandma. Most people just said "oh, you're dressed up as chauvinist pig". Not a great success. Last year I was Sonny Crockett and my friend was Rico Tubbs, of course.

Hi Fam,
Just came back from Interpool. They were great! No pictures this time.
Reading this thread is making me incredibly sad. This year we are not dressing up and this is my favorite holiday. I look forward to it for months actually for a whole year. Once November 1st comes I start daydreaming about the next Halloween. (I know I need to get a life) Last year we were Charlie’s angels, the sexy dancing sequence. They were homemade costumes and I could certify that they rocked. My costume was down to the stitch; the only difference was that I used a skirt. This year the first idea that my friend Melissa came up with was being J-lo’s through the ages with of course the huge fake asses to go with it (not that I need additional ass). I was going to be Celina, my friend Melissa was going to be Jenny from the block and Evonne was going to be fly dancer Jenny. But fly dancer Jenny wasn’t having any of it; it turns out she wasn’t so fly after all. When she rejected that idea we decided to be pirates. I was storked because I’m fasrcinated with all pirrrate stuff. R was even going to make all of us custorm eye parrtches. But guess what, Halloween is only a few days away and we didn’t get diddily squat ready. ARrrr! I wish it was barely October 1st. Where is the damn time machine when you need one?
By the way I totally agree you are never too old to dress up. Especially if you’re Wendybird and still live in never, never land. ;D
Dave maybe for one of the TPC concerts you can ask everyone to dress up. It could be a costume concert; it could even have a theme. Ok, I think I had too much sugar again but damn it for my Birthday I’m throwing myself a Pirrate party and making everyone dress up.
Posted by: wendybird at October 28, 2004 02:06 AM
To Lori in IL (and basic advice to everyone): the best way to feel young is to act young. Dress up, sister!!!
Being a champion procrastinator, I rarely plan a costume before the day of Halloween. Thankfully, my closet is a forest of dramatic and bizarre clothing specimens... I'm a dramatic sort. (Hmmm... and she's got a thing for Dave Navarro? Weird.) I know it's not all that creative, but with little time, a dead cowgirl, or a dead hippie, or a dead wench, or a dead vampire (wait...) usually goes over well. White makeup is a procrastinator's dream. Cheers to all the other lazy, last-minute costumers out there! JUST DO IT THOUGH!!!
(It's early and I'm feeling rather annoyed that I'm awake. But my baby just left for Seattle, and he woke me up to say goodbye. Can't fault him for that.)

Hey Dave,
I am DYING to see Banyan this time around, any talk by Perk of doing any Boston shows? Maybe a seed could be planted...I missed them a few years ago cause of a gig of my own, never truly recovered.
Thanks so much for being so personable with your fans and best of luck recording!THE CURSE IS REVERSED!!! GO RED SOX!!!!!!!

Dave~You are in this week's Kerrang magazine. Issue No 1029 October 30th.
Cool, cos it's a Halloween Kerrang.
It has a photo of you at Sam Goody book signing. But refers to you as "Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro" You'd think Kerrang would know better.
nice to see it in there though! :D
and they put your pic above Anthony Keidis, and Billy Corgan's. There's a review of "Scar Tissue" in there too.( Whoa, it was raunchy what they said Anthony got up too..)Guess they may do a review of your book when it's released here.
I'm still waiting for my DTTAH to arrive. I want to read yours first, before Anthony's.

Hi everyone!
Marg~ Thank you for the help with the book! It got here today, and although my ebay person came through for me as well, your book is my favourite :) Thanks again, I really appreciate it!
Colleen~ Congrats on getting the house!!
Since I'm from Norway, we didn't celebrate Halloween here when I was a kid. They sort of do now, though, but I have a feeling that people here don't really get it, and a Halloween party is just as likely to be held in November here as on the 31st of October. Not to mention that there haven't ever been a single kid coming to my house for trick or treat. Now I'm not entirely sure if there are any kids on my street, though, but that's besides the point :p
Hope you're all well.

We are tossing the idea for halloween to go as Carmen n' you...I'm certainly no Carmen..but Angel could pass..with a wig...as you, now that you've got that longer hair!! Last year we were Lucy n' Ricky Ricardo...It was great...I'll see if I've got any pics anywhere..the way Lucy wore her lipstick...ughhhhh!!
Hope all is well with u,Carmen and my peeps..Peace n' Luv

Hi Dave! You are never too old to dress up for Halloween, in fact I think it's funner now than when I was a kid. One year I was broke as hell and made my own costume... I was a bag of trash.. I bought a really cheap black hood and glued various pieces of trash to it... mt dew can, paper plate, toilet paper roll, candy bar wrapper etc... then i just cut arm and leg holes... tied the handles around my neck.. It was pretty funny and very cheap.. Happy Halloween!
peace, love

Hey Jez... we should talk again soon...since you're the only person who makes an effort to respond to any of my nonsense. I know the anti-coastal affect throw's our timing symetry out of whack, but you were a fun chat, and you're old school like me...and your vibe reek's of familiarity (in other words...your soul, much like mine, is wise beyond our years, due to past experiences positive and negative)...i guess i'm saying "you get it" in other words. So write me when you get a chance, k? To everyone else, luv ya all just the same, whether we've spoken yet or not...hope to get to know everyone, because above all else, with all the strife in the world, this is our safe place...protected by our guaranteed rights off freedom (of speech at least), and we're all on the same side. We're all in this together now... so feel free to write me, this goes to anyone who wants a new friend to chat with, or someone who may want advice about drug addiction, or other life issues. I'm a good listener, and always try to give the best advice, so try me sometime. Once again, my Lizard brain has led me to a rambling mess of a post (and i wonder why no one read's & responds). Anyway, off to hopefully get VR tix today! wish me luck!

arrrg, my socks are wet, hate wet socks!
here we don't celebrate halloween, we have a holiday with trick or treat (st. maarten) en one where everyone dresses up (carnaval). both of them are actually more for children than for adults. with st.maarten the kids make their own lantern out of paper and put a candle in it, and then they ring at doors, sing songs and collect candy..which is quite sweet..but i think it's extincting. when i was young, every kid did it, but now they don't bother..then can buy sweets when ever they want.
okay, i'm going to put on some dry socks and do the right thing by starting to learn for my exams next week!!

ADROCK!!!!!--Good morning, you fellow old soul!! I am sorry, I meant to email you last night, but this thing with my boy, and then the West Wing episode, it was too much to bear(oh, and the thesis, and report cards, and parent conferences, and did I mention my boy?) You are an intelligent, witty, sexy man....I'm sure your girlfriend thinks so as well
Emma-I love that idea for Halloween!I have been teaching my children this week about different traditions, my favorite is the Day of the Dead, last year I had a cherub who helped make an altar in my class for our loved ones that had died...it was touching. this year I have been teaching them about the Great Pumpkin, we have been singing pumpkin carols (don't ask!!) Third Grade ROCKS!!!
To all the rest of my family---my son has temporarily moved in with my brother and his family, he said he needed to be around men...(Don't I know about THAT!!!)
I miss him terribly, I don't quite know what to do. We start family counseling on Monday, it's obvious we need a licensed professional...
Would love to hear from any of the guys out there that might have gone through problems with their mothers during their teenage years....

Also there is a DVD called "Dave Navarro" on Amazon.com, supposedly out Feb 04, but it doesn't give any more
details than that, does anyone know what this is?
Posted by: justaDavefan at October 28, 2004 08:34 AM
hay melissa,
we do have an 'all souls day' or 'celebration of souls' on november 2nd. but that's a (Roman) catholic thing and i'm not religious (i found out about it on the internet..*proud of myself*) so i didn't know about it...but my mom did :)
i found a link if your interested
http://www.wordiq.com/definition/All_Souls_Day
perhaps this day is better known in other -more religious- european countries.
jezzi, pumpkin carols sounds like fun :D and "the Great Pumpkin" sounds even better, haha
and good luck with your son *hugs*

2 guys, john and steve, have been wandering the desert for days, very very lost! at deaths door, they suddenly spy a tree off in the distance.
As they crawl closer, they make out that the tree is draped with rasher upon rasher of bacon. smoked bacon, juicy bacon, crispy bacon, bacon of all sorts.
"hey, john!" shouts steve, "Look, its a bacon tree!"
"your right!" says john. and he runs ahead towards the tree, salavating. as he gets to the tree sounds of gun fire erupts and John goes down in a hail of bullets.
Steve quickly drops to the sand and yells to his fallen friend, "John, are you okay?"
with his dying breath John calls out, "Run, run! its not a bacon tree. Its a ham bush!"
