The Day After Yesterday
1. Hey Dave, when you get ink, do they do it for free because you're Dave Navarro?
I'll say this, it has happened in the past, but usually, no. When it has happened, I make sure to leave a nice gratuity. After all, it is the art and work of the artist. It is how he or she makes a living.
2. Have you ever thought about doing a CD or writing a book with Carmen?
We have thought about it. What I would really like to do is direct her in a short film of our own script. We want to do something very dark and Un-Carmen. Who knows? One day perhaps.
3. Have a great weekend. Any idea how/when the NASCAR event will be televised?
I'm sure the race will be, but I don't think the band was filmed.
4. I hear you're a fan of the office. Have you ever thought of covering "free love freeway"?
I don't think we would do it justice. Nobody can do Brent's material but Brent.
5. What made you choose to be so public with your life?
I don't know. I guess I really didn't until I had something positive to say or show, such as our wedding or my experiences with drugs and how they almost destroyed my life. I guess I just want to be one of the people who say, "Look. Life is hard, drugs are hard, loss is hard, but you can still find love, happiness and freedom." Sharing a message of hope. That's the idea. Sure I face criticism, but if I can help anyone, it's worth it. I know I don't have all the answers. Sometimes I'm not so sure I have any, but I do know that I have never been happier and ultimately, that is what I wish to convey. I believe that one can't keep what he doesn't give back.
6. I was wondering if you're familiar with Flea's Silverlake Conservatory of Music music school and if he's ever asked you to come in and give a few lessons to the students?
I know it. He has never asked, but that is a great example of what I was talking about above. "One can't keep what he doesn't give back" You go Flea!
7. Have you ever suffered an addiction to narcotic painkillers at any point and time or only heroin? And if so, how difficult was it for you to wean yourself off? What was it like detoxing from heroin?
Never pain killers but I hear that the detox is a lot like heroin. In some cases worse. What was it like? Brutal, painful, physically and emotionally wrenching and the best thing I ever did. If you have a pain killer issue, I would waste no time and start dealing with it. It's ironic, but an addiction to pain killers actually brings about more pain. (Of course, I am not talking about doctor prescribed instances where does and intake are monitored for a specific condition. I'm talking "recreation" here.)
8. Dave what is your little dog's name? I forget, but I thought he or she was very cute on TDDUP! Was that a dog that you or Carmen had before you met, or did you get the dog after you were together?
Daisy. We got her together. She was a Valentine's Day gift from me to Carmen.
9. How would you feel about of re-mixes of your solo material? I would like to take a crack at it and will be happy to send you any finished tracks via the Panic Agency for your approval.
I would love it! Please go for it and send it to me.
10. I have a question is it true Carmen is gonna be in a movie with a SUM41 guy.
Yeah. It's a Jenny McCarthy movie called "Dirty Love". It's going to be really funny.
Thank you ...
Dave

Hello 6767 family, Hello Dave.
Reading what Dave said above, why he has done this site the way he has, being so public, sums up how I feel a lot of the time. Just trying to be there, being a positive force, saying that hey, making it through what Dave has come through, everyone can take a piece and apply to their own situation. I think that's pretty much the whole reason why I visit the site almost daily now, to hear a piece of what Dave has to say and maybe, but not necessarily all the time, will it relate to a situation that I am going through.
Thanks to Dave for this opportunity and thanks for this website.
A wish for Dave, that when all is said and done, and the Tour starts, that he plans maybe a few stops in Canada too. Really be cool to see him play Toronto again.
Have a gr8 day family and Dave.
Peace & respect,
BH

Dave,
Heard the "hyperleaked" version of True Nature for the 1st time this morning - the end of it is absolutely fantastic with Perks tribal drumming and Perry chanting I got this feeling. Why was this version left off the official Strays release?
Signing out.

heLLo,
A tribute!
David Brent and its Hit!
FreeLove......lol
Pretty girl on the hood of a Cadilac, yeah....
She’s broken down on freeway nine.
I take a look and her engine’s started,
I leave her purring and I roll on by....bye bye
Chorus:
Free love on the free love freeway,
The love is free and the freeway’s long...
I got some hot love on the hot-love freeway
I ain’t going home cos’ my baby’s gone
A little while later, see a senorita,
She’s caught a flat trying to make it home,
She says “Por favor, can you pump me up?
I say “Muchos gracias, adios. Bye Bye.
Free love on the freelove freeway,
The love is free and the freeway’s long
I got some hot love on the hotlove highway,
Ain't going home ‘cause my baby's gone.
Little while later I see a cowboy crying,
“Hey buddy, what can I do?
He says “I lived a good life, had about a thousand women.
I said “Why the tears?, he says “‘cause none of them was you.
Free love on the free love freeway,
where the love is free and the freeway is long...
I got some hot love on the hot-love freeway
I ain’t going home cos’ my baby’s gone
Might cover it! TNO style....lol

Hey Dave,
I'm entering an air guitar competition in a few weeks and I need a song to wield my invisible axe to. I figure that my competition are all going to go for Hendrix, Led Zep or Guns N' Roses songs and I want to steer clear of those if at all possible. Any suggestions on a particular song to choose?
Much obliged

Hey Family
well, i just got home from johanessburg now. it was my girlfriends 21 birthday and she was in johannesburg visiting family and i couldnt be with her...or so she thought. i flew up there yesterday(the day of her big party)and surprised her. shame, she was very surprised, she cried her poor eyes out. she had no idea about my surprise.
well family, i should be recording vocals for the online song tomorrow night(if things go according to plan, but plans often fall through so im holding thumbs). anyway...
dont do anything i wouldnt do. and if you do then name it after me!

hello dave
on the banyan album "anytime at all" what do you think of the tracks that stephan did with buckethead, i think he is the most underated guitarist of our lifetime, are you familiar with any of his albums?, i think a song with you buckethead and stephen would be out of this world.

so who all went to NASCAR show? I'm betting it was awesome.. I unfortunately couldn't make it but I will definitely be at the Wiltern show. I was at this fair in Malibu and went down to Venice beach.
Guess what I got today! an electric BASS! She is metallic red. I named her Ruby.
What happened was I that I missed my guitars. I have a fender strat and an acoustic that i left overseas. I had a really bad urge to play so I went out to guitar center and decided to switch and try bass. What I found playing guitar is that plucking comes much more naturally to me than strumming so I decided to get a bass. I've been playing it for the past few hours and I think I have finally found the right instrument for me. I've tried the violin, piano/keyboard, guitar but I think I'll be sticking to bass.
At the moment I'm using my friend's old and pretty crappy amp. I want to get a new one, anyone have any suggestions for a good amp to start bass out with?

Kinda going along with what John posted above...
What are your impressions of Banyan and more specifically NELS CLINE?
Nels happens to be my favorite player, so be nice ;^)
Posted by: uzumaki at September 5, 2004 07:20 PM
oh, the bass is a perdy little Yamaha. I figure it was good enough to start out with and within my budget.

I really love what you said, Dave, that you can't keep what you don't give back. It's an age-old theory with a refreshing twist, focusing not on what you can acquire, but rather maintaining what you already treasure. I've been sitting here thinking about how true that is, and that it's such an awesome philosophy to live by. I find it so easy to get sucked into a black hole of monotony, and paralyzed by time constraints and "have to's". Reflection on the laws of karma inspires a refreshing perspective, and provides a rewarding new focus to an otherwise mundane day...
so, thanks! :)
Spreading the love,
Deena

Dave...I have a running bet with my friends: I say the guitar in this pic is hilarious, and they say it's a travesty. You.Be.The.Judge.:

It's a promo pic for my radio station...it's eventually going to go on my jock page on the station's website.
Thoughts?

hello all! i totally agree with the statement that you can't keep what you don't give back...it's always been a favorite one of mine...but my personal mantra is "kill them with kindness"...i'm a firm believer in the fact that it's easier for me to nicer than to be mean. it's just not in me to be vindictive or mean or vicious.
glad to see you're doing so well dave!! love all the new tattoo's...i've been thinking about one myself...but i'm waaaaay to fickle to commit to a single thing that's permanent like that. thanks for all you've done!
and much love to everyone else here!

Dave, you previously mentioned being a NIN fan, how was it working with Trent and Co. on the Piggy remix?
Thanks so much for bringing 6767 back to life and for the wonderful community feeling that it has.

Hey Dave,
What ever happened to the soundtrack you and Chad did for "Ugly meets the People"?
I don't suppose you have any of THAT to post in the audio section, do you?
Posted by: Six7Six7 at September 6, 2004 12:31 AM
Do you have "vacation homes" anywhere? If so where?
Posted by: Tony at September 6, 2004 04:09 AM
you can't keep what you don't give back...
I like that, but even better:
"It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice"
Dave are there certain questions that you feel you just can't answer, and if so what things do you consider when deciding whether or not to answer a question?

"Will we ever get to hear Circle of the Noose? — El #8337
