Sunday Update

RsmtpcwallpapervortexSo here is some new info. The band has a new e-mail address. (mail@thepanicchannel.com)You can use this address to send in comments, questions, art or audio files. The AOL account is no longer in use. Thank you all for your sentiments yesterday. I hope the day brought you peace and gratitude for life as it did me. Billy Morrison and I had a great time on Camp Freddy Radio yesterday. We spoke to several 67-ers including, FreAk, Pony and Karen. So cool to hear your voices. FreAk and I spoke on air about the Online Jam, "Shoot" and the idea of hopefully playing it on the radio next week. I would love for us to set the new model for others. As mentioned in the comments, a third clue was given out over the airwaves. Go to FreAk's site for the audio clip if you missed it. If you are not in the L.A. area, don't feel left out as we are having so much fun with all this hidden stuff that we plan to incorporate this style in many ways to come. There have been three clues and there will be only one more, just in case you were wondering. All that is left to find out is the name we will be playing under.

As for the New York Vanity Fair show with Camp Freddy, some information can be found here. That should be a killer trip.

1. Have you ever thought of becoming a mental health professional?

No, but I have thought about seeing one!

2. I am curious though-after doing so many live shows and jam sessions-how is your hearing?

"Huh?"

3. Dave will camera's be allowed?

I don't see why not.

4. Anyway I've noticed in some of the posts you've said things along the lines of people have to hit rock bottom before they sort themselves out… Now you never actually seemed to do that, or was it just less public than others?

Oh, yes. A lot of that is covered in the book.

5. Dave, why the Strat instead of the white PRS when you played with Usher?

The sound just suited his track best.

6. Dave, if I'm not mistaken...didn't you have a story on your first website called "L.A. Monster"?? There was a Part 1 and 2 but it was never finished... I remember checking back every week to see if more would get added and then one day, the site changed to black and red, renamed Spread, and all was gone!

It was, "Love in L.A." and those columns are also included in the book, along with a final installment.

7. Hey Dave, What do you think of the band Fishbone?

I love them. Totally under rated back in the day. They are currently on my iPod.

8. HEY DAVE! Im A Huge Fan Today Is My 16th Birthday .... I Was Wondering .. Could You Make It A Little More Special With A Shout Out!

Happy Birthday Cortney!

9. Btw, didn't you & Carmen film some movie cameos at SilverCup a few years ago?? Some movie with Brittany Murphy?

Yeah, we are friends with Brittany and she asked us to come down and do a little appearance in Uptown Girls. If you blink, you will miss us!

10. The reason for this post is that the band I'm in at the moment want to do a "reinterpretation" of LA Song off the above album. We've fleshed the song out to about 10 mins and changed the lyrics a bit. Is that okay with you? Can I send the finished track here somehow?

I'd love to hear it. Go for it.

Dave

Finally the first to post. I've been waiting for this moment for months! I did have a question though. It seems that you tend to keep your tattoos on your arms and, for the most part, off your chest/stomach(with a couple exceptions). Is there any reason in particular for that?

Posted by: americanzer0 at September 12, 2004 12:34 PM

I don't want to set a negative feel for the posts, but i have some advise for Chris Pettiet:

Why don't you pull that stick out your ass and do something constructive with it. Make a mini log cabin out of your ass twig, for example. Then you can drool on it a little to make snow. It will be beautiful. And if you REALLY want to make your Kindergarten teacher happy, you could make some little paper people out of those Carmen playboys you hide in your room, they've also got some white stuff on them that you could say is snow. Now this is only a suggestion, feel free to incorporate tips from your "Passing Kindergarten 4 Dummies" book. And when you're all done, don't forget to laugh idiotically at your terrific work, I'm sure mommy will be glad she took Pookie-Bear away, because you are just maturing so fastly now.

Only A Suggestion,
paperdove

sorry for the typos and horrible grammar, i was just showing my appreciation for my homeboy over here, Chris.

Dave,
Would you say that your use to the pain of getting tattoos, or does it not even bother you now?

Posted by: Casey at September 12, 2004 12:49 PM

Mornin' Dave-
Lots to do today, so just a quick hello! Had a lovely time talking to you yesterday on CFR... sorry that I kinda turn into a dolt under pressure! I'm not sure how everyone feels about posting the clues, so if anyone can email me, I'd appreciate it! (I still don't get the "source" thing).

Hey Dave, hey people,

Ok so I now realised I don't have a current passport, so the secret show is a definate no-no, rather than just a mad idea I may have gone through with... A little miffed...nevermind.

Hey ho! Working on getting the UK posse together, so you'll have no choice but to get your arses over here asap!

Paperdove, I felt the same, but to be honest, responding is just fuel on the fire...

Enjoy your day everyone
Peace and love

To my surprise, in a MOJO magazine issue dedicated to the Chili Peppers they gave One Hot Minute four stars out of five. Do you feel the album is underrated and how do you feel about the Peppers kind of ignoring the album live and on the 2003's Greatest Hits (included My Friends)?

PS - I don't check this site so often so if I have repeated a question then I'm sorry. All the best, me

Posted by: Me at September 12, 2004 01:37 PM

Damn those passports right RP?
I have a current passport, and not enough money.
It has to be something.
Some cash and I'd be over there to LA pronto for the show.

Otherwise, the UK posse is definately getting together, and getting ready! :D

As for the person calling himself Chris, I figured better to ignore him, and I knew Dave would.

I did contact him though, and asked what he meant politely. Sorry, if that's taking things into my own hands that are other peoples' business, but since it was on here, I felt inclined to do something. I tried contacting other "family' members, but apparently I was the only one around.

He did reply to me and apologised for the post.

Love and peace.

Here comes fricking Ivan!! Eyes are glued to the news on a consistant basis. This really sucks!!! Huge shortage on plywood here in the bay area(Tampa) Hope for the best for us all here on the west coast plz! Trying to maintain a balanced outlook with positive reinforcements. Hey everyone,

Dave, what do you think about Melissa Auf der Maur as person?

Enjoy your Sunday...

I'm feeling a bit left out, as I am technically challenged and don't know what is meant by a "source" of a web page. I have the clue for where (thanks, chris, we had it first!), but I don't know the when, is that the clue I can't find?
Also, have emailed as many addys as I can, trying to find out how to be a panic agent, still no response. Is that part of the initiation process? Am I going to have to be "jumped" in, not that it would necessarily be a "bad" thing, if I can choose the jumpee

Desperately seeking info,
jezzi

I just want to tell you that you are a special person. the first time i went on this website i thought you would never respond to my question because i thought that you were out of my reach. But i have realized that in your eyes, not only are we fans, but a part of you and your family and that we are very important to you. thankyou for being who you are and let God bless you and your family and will make all your dreams come true. Another thing is that i would love to see you and carmen act in a reality show. and when you said that your only meal was a bowl of jello, it was the only thing that you ate in the entire day?

I was wondering... i've been wondering for awhile. I'm confused. On your wedding on TTDUP you played Ballroom Blitz, And i'm confused bacause I dont see any evidence of you playing that like on a Cd or anything. And so I'm wondering if it was just a song you all knew and thought it was cool to play that day or is it actually on a Cd? Because I actually loved yours. I've heard Misfits, and/or ACDC's but I liked that way you played it on your wedding better.

Happy Birthday Kyle!

Emily~that's so cool! Go wild. :D

Jezebel~I think FreAk already has you as a Panic Agent, you posted about it on the message boards over on his site right? He replied that he has added you already.

View source shows the code for a site, At top of your screen when your browser is up, that is say Internet Explorer, go to "View" use the drop down menu there, and choose "Source".

You can right click and hold too but the panic channel site is Flash, so it didn't work as usual.

My question was the first one you answered! And no one can miss you in Uptown Girls. My one and only is 8, and he was watching it and said "hey that's the guy from the poker show . . . " Thought I'd share that.

Have a grand and glorious day!

CFR was great yesterday, it was so cool that WhitePony, FreAk and Abb got through! Your voice makes me want to sleep, though, Dave, it's so comfortable to listen to (plus, it was 3-5am here when it aired :p)

Hope you had a nice and relaxing day off with Carmen today, Dave :)

Have a good one, everyone!

Hey Dave,

I'm thinking about getting your name tattooed on my left wrist as sort of a thank you for inspiring me to pick up the guitar and as a reminder to always work hard at it and try to play as cool and creatively as you do.
Would you approve of this idea, or should I seek help??

Have a nice day,

Hey Dave and Family! :)

Emily... congrats on the tickets! What an awesome birthday present... can't wait to read your post afterwards! ;)

Speaking of birthdays... Happy Birthday to all the recent birthday peeps... I know I missed a few, but better late than never, right?

I have a request... I'm gonna be on the road Saturday, as I'm moving from NC to Chicago. This means I'll miss CF radio. :( I'm kinda hoping FreAk or someone will record it again (insert begging and pleading here), especially if the Online Jam ends up getting some air time. I really don't want to miss that! It would be bad enough missing CFR, but to miss the Jam too?

By the way... FreAk... if you have me down as a Panic Agent in NC, you can go ahead and change that to Chicago of you'd like! :D Or, if it's better for you, I'll email all my new info... just let me know...

Dave... just want to say Thanks for being who you are. You rock, bro!

Much love and respect to Dave and the Family!

Peace,
Tim/Panic Agent Nitewing

Hi family, I usually try to be positive here, but I have been fighting my way through another bout with depression for the last couple weeks. I feel like I got knocked down by a truck...The only bright light has been my kids and my loving husband. But that is what hurts the most about depression, even when you have a lot of love and support, it's still hard to get up...

coming here helps

Hope everyone had a good weekend - back to the mines for me tomorrow. I'm a little behind on homework - anyone read "the Apology'? I need to understand it by 11 am tomorrow. It's going to be a long night.

Much Love.

Hey Dave,

Thanks so much for replying to my question about LA Song. Still putting the finishing touches to it before we go into the studio and record it. Hopefully it won't be too long before I send it to you but we want to make sure it sounds just right ie get a proper producer in a proper studio.

So anyway, we've got a gig coming up fairly soon and I
saw a question posted here before which I thought would be a good one to be answered with the upcoming gig in mind. Should we work on making an average song good or make a good song great?

Whoever posted that before, sorry for ripping you off!

Thanks

Hello family,

A short question for Dave. Is it true that back in the day JA were approached about possibly doing an MTV unplugged session? That would've sounded incredible. I'd love to see the new band do something like that at some stage.

Good to hear everything went great in NYC.

Dave, if you'd have to play a gig with just one additional effect, what would it be (also the make!) and why?

Don't even know why I'm so curious, but I just am!

My B-day also coming up this week on the 16th. So depressing gaining age, anyone know a way of how to not?!

Peace all!

Hey Dave and fam...

Dave - I'm comming to see you!!!! The oct.21st show. I was wondering (I feel kinda bad about asking this, but there is always a chance so...) is there anyway I could get backstage passes to come say hi? I wont be bothersome or anything, I understand how crazy some people can get + I'm not like that. I just wanna hang out and say hi.

Emily - I got tickets for the same show!!! Myabe I'll see you there.

sirshannon - I heard about the punk'ed episode too... what i heard happened was that they acidentaly "hit a guy" with thier car. I also heard that Carmen said that they should keep going, but Dave decided to stop. I asked Dave about this a lil while ago + he said that the Carmen part was not true, that she wanted to keep going to get away from the annoying squeeue guy.

That car story, is just that a story, it's straight out of a famous book, and it was made into a movie. Tom Wolfe wrote the book. I can't recall the name of it off hand. It was about how some ppl were in the 80's. The book was a social statement of the times, and whatever ppl say it isn't the 80's anymore.
I am more into Tom Robbins myself, and Kurt Vonnegut. :)

hey guys i was just listening to "shoot" and would like to offer some constructive criticism. there are 2 very distinct ideas in that song, i think they may work better off seperated because they are so different from each other. if that first idea were to be kept i think it should move into that section earlier in the song. and the vocal sample... it doesnt sound right... sounds like part of a techno song and sounds out of place because you do not hear anymore of it elsewhere in the song. it's just constructive criticism, im just asking that you consider it because this could do the song or maybe even songs good.

good day/morning to all. I'm feeling a little beat up today from the Ramone's show last night (it was sooo good, so much fun!). Did anyone from here go?? The crowd was really mellow at first, but once the RHCP came on they started to wake up, especially after that when Marky and CJ came on with all the different performers. So many great musicians together in one place.
Before the show as sound check was finishing up they let us in to this VIP area and Henry Rollins came up there for a bit and signed some autographs and pics. The last time i saw him was last year at the Exit Festival in Serbia. It was very cool of him to come over there for that festival, no good western bands ever go over there.
I got an Indie 103.1 pin and guitar pick and 3 free Ramones posters (all the same one, got 2 extra for friends) but by the end of the show I lost my sunglasses and the posters were demolished.
it's all good though, it was a great night, benefiting a great cause- cancer research.

billymcd: nice pix. keep 'em coming. What's wrong with those people-It appears to be a very small crowd?

I think Dave's smooth voice comes from a guy at total peace with himself and at a good place in life, the sound of triumph, and inspiration.

Hey, how is everyone getting tix!? I tried ticketmaster, but it says "not available at this time" Please help.

skot-GREAT image. perfect for t-shirts. can anyone here run with that? I'd buy one for sure

Dave,

What is the measure of success for TPC? Is it- play what makes you happy and if people like it, then great. Something else?

I saw Alter Bridge -the 3 original Creed members, plus Myles Kennedy-live last week, at a small venue, and they genuinely looked like they had a great time(and made great music).

Thoughts?

Lisa, gotcha, I think September 13th is Steven Perkins bday, am I wrong, I thought he and my son Mike were birthday buddies.....anyway, what is all this chatter that won't die about the Punk'd episode, has it not been on tv a zillion times already, my fav part was Dave saying "DUDE..what part of don't say another word don't you understand"

I think Dave and Carmen handled it much better than Tara (there's something going on Harry) Reid

once again, thanks panic agents, for being ready to help, I hope to meet you at the show!!!, I'll be the one looking strangely out of place, come up and say hi jezzi, and I will buy you a drink!

Erg! I read all of September's posts and still can't find the second clue. I listened to the clip on FreAk*s website. I heard the second clue was something like..."thief"??? I tried keyword searching all the posts..and I swear I saw that somewhere a couple of days ago. It's vanished. Am I going crazy? I know there are others that didn't get the second clue. Can anyone point us in the right direction? This is what I get for "skimming" the posts in a rush. *kicks self*

I'm in the process of changing offices at my job so I have had no time to play here :(

Would someone be kind enough to e-mail me and catch me up on the clues?

Yo Dave, I remember seeing the video for "Ocean Size" years ago, or at least I think it was. Anyways you were playing your solos on a green Ibanez inbetween clips of huge waves and Perry hanging froma tree. I thought that it was a badass video! Do you by chance have that video in storage?Thanx Mike/Ekim

Jezzi-that was my fave part also. "DUDE" :))

I saw Dave on CPS again this weekend (finally got it recorded this time) and I have to share with everyone a chuckle: each of the players talks about the others, their poker acumen, etc. Jenny Garth is talking about Dave and describes their interaction - as they're having their "eyeliner applied together in makeup" - and she fears our Dave's skills. And so it appears justified she should've. :)

heLLo,

Daire: Criticism is good! tho the vocal sample as you said, it's Dave voice! from a CFR show, and it gave me the idea for the whole song, so I wud keep where it is.
2nd, a song need to split into 2 directions sometime, otherwise its more than boring to the listeners. Bear in mind that this song is a jam, by people who never faced each others, and the song will be the result of different things...

I'm gonna process the vocals submitted by Kyle this week (and even hopefuly the bass from Colleen's sister), so we get a chance for Dave to air it on Indie 103.1 next week.

As far as the panic Agency is goin, the database keeps on growing everyday! you're now 50+ agents! worldwide! A general Email is gonna be sent soon to you all. Thank you for your patience.

Enjoy!
