Right on Emma, happy birthday.

Dave, the CF pics are awesome. I like how your boobies look. Nice. Anyway, it looks like you had fun. Courtney looked great, so did Scott. Wish I was there.

Hey family, hope all of you are doing well. I came back from San Diego last night. Man, it was beautiful there. Wanted to stop by and say Hi. Take care. One love.

Hell Yeah- One of the Panic Channel Ladies took that. Right on!!!!!!!

ok, hate to be the multiposter about this pic, but the pic that Abby took is still in camera, still being developed, still waiting for the first so I can pay for it..
Remember my earlier, disgruntled post to Wendy, green with envy I was because I thought Cassandra had taken first pic of set list (see big, long, rambling post about security calling me ma'am)
but NOOOOOOO, I have lost the edge because 1. I didn't have a digital and B. I waited too long to develop.,
So, I am guessing that was dear Wendy, foiling me again ;)

Drat....just you wait, my pretty, I'll get you...and your little dog, too

I have pictures, I swear I do!!

Posted by: jezebel at September 28, 2004 01:01 PM

Oh no Jez....I snuck that one in before security remrimanded you guys (while I was away)!!! Then I messed around with it a bit and hid TPC logos all over!

Seeing people from France communicating with people from Norway, talking to people from England,Australia, and Montana, no less, all with their mutual respect for Dave's talent in common....makes me proud of my little commodore...

Hi Dave.,+All.,

Just to say i thougt six7six7's post on the last comments page was a bit crude and uncalled for.

No matter what you cant ignore and dis History......
Perry is not just a figment of your entertainment, but is a man with feelings.....................
(btw -Janes's was like ten years of Dave's life and workand nothing can take that away.)

oh well now i feel guilty, but i had to say.........
otherthan that im good and happy.Peace + Love........

Till later.....................................

Hey Jezebel,

Thanks for the update about Dave's book signing. Right away I was thinking about how I finally get to meet Dave but it is during the week and I can't ask for time off to drive down there. I am crying right now. Son of A b*tch. I am p.oed. Oh well to everyone else good luck getting there.

thinking about putting out another solo album hoping that it will go huge, when in his mind he knows it will be shit just like the other ones, because perry is nothing without creative geniuses behind all of the work. perry is nothing.

YAY book signing!!!! who's going to which one? We could meet up again, that would be sweeeeet!

Posted by: Cassandra at September 28, 2004 06:55 PM

Cassandra, yes!!! blizardi and I so far are going to Universal city walk on October 12, Wendybird suggested 6767 pins for identifiers, I was thinking more along the line of big funny hats, but, you know, I like to blend in, not make a scene, lol
Girls, Boys, and for Jilla, Goyls...in the words of the Black Eyed Peas...let's get it started!!

ps, got pics back today, someday I will figure out how to send them, but Cassandra, the set list pic turned out great, and some awesome shots of Dave's nails!! I loved that color..
jezzi

Posted by: jezebel at September 28, 2004 06:59 PM

YAY! I'm glad that photo turned out ok jez.
I was planning on going to the Citywalk signing too.
What time is everyone gonna get there?

Posted by: Cassandra at September 28, 2004 07:30 PM

Cassandra, as soon as I figure out wtf i am doing, I will send it to you!

I called the sweetest guy today at Sam Goody, he said when Marilyn Manson came to sign, people were lining up at TWO!!! LOL! I don't get out of school until 3:30, figured I would make it there by 5:30 or so, it's just that Dave is only booked for an hour, so, don't want to get there after his pen runs out of ink, and I think cameras are allowed!! I will buy drinks for everyone at the OTHER House of Blues...

What's with all the Perry bashing? I was listening to the Triple XXX JA album today. (Yes I bought it on vinyl in 87') 1% is one of my all time favorite tunes to just rock out and jump around and go crazy. I saw some of the first JA shows at Scream, the Pyramid club, the Roxy, and most of the John Anson Ford shows (7 shows in a row, all sold out.) and I have to say that Jane's Addiction along with RHCP's and Thelonious Monster made me proud to be from Hollywood. I even partied with Perry at Small's way back in the day. He was a nice, funny guy.

Perry had/has a great voice and a tremendous vision for creating art. Now I realize that Perry is only as good as the cats he jams with... And I also realize that what's left of Jane's Addiction is continuing via the Panic Channel. That leaves me to believe that Perry is a very hard person to work with... But since I don't know the man, I'm not even going to offer an opinion. Why waste my energy bashing him? I still love my Jane's Addiction collection and I listen almost everyday. It still makes me proud to be from Hollywood.

Like Mick says, "It's only rock and roll...but I like it."

Anyone know how to convert Shoot from a quicktime "mov" file to an mp3? Also, did Dave play on it at all, or am I just hearing the musical influence coming through? I've got to say it again, I think it's awesome! You guys did a fabulous job!

Jezzy do you have a scanner. If not I would suggest to go to Kinko’s and get them scanned. After that just search for a free site that will host your pictures.

http://search.msn.com/results.asp?FORM=sCPN&RS=CHECKED&un=doc&v=1&q=free%20picture%20hosting

It's pretty easy to do and usually they have instructions on how to upload them.

By the way I’m having second thoughts about the book signing thing. I think I just want to go to document the process (take some pictures) but I’m not a fan of autographs. For some reason they do nothing for me unless they are on a big fat check. I dunno I might have to reconsider the whole thing since it is Dave. Anyhow, the mini pin idea was just a suggestion if there is something else you guys would like I’m game. I’ll go do some research to see how much it would be to make the pins. If it’s not too expensive I’ll do a bunch and send them to who ever wants them. Didn’t Freak say that they were going to have stickers to pick up? Maybe I can take the pins there too, but that’s just a thought.

About being there early, depending on how many of us are there maybe we can take turns standing in line. I could possibly take half the day of from work, my boss kicks ass.

Posted by: wendybird at September 28, 2004 08:55 PM

Just when I thought Shoot couldn't get any better...Kyle, the vocals are amazing!!!

Saraswati, ChickBassPlayer, FreAk and Kyle...you ROCK!!!! I've said it before, but I think this is so cool that peeps from all over the world have come together and created something so special....just part of the magic that is 6767, I guess, and for that....THANK YOU DAVE! :D

Posted by: Cori at September 28, 2004 09:00 PM

I'm not a huge fan of autographs either...but pictures...YES! lol...and I didn't wait around long enough after the show for a pic with Dave, so I may have to go to the signing. It's a super busy week for me, tho that particular day I think that I'm free :) will have to check...I'll let you all know!

Posted by: Abby at September 28, 2004 09:02 PM

yeah, i'm not too big on autographs either. But how many opportunities do you get to actually say hello to your favorite guitarist? And i figure maybe he'll have some Panic Channel stuff for us agents to do.

Hopefully I'll get to read the book before hand so I can say something other than the typical "oh my god you rock I'm such a big fan blah blah blah." hehe

and yeah, some stickers are supposed to be dropped off at Amoeba eventually. I got dibs on stickifying North Hollywood and the surrounding area!

how about this...

sounds good to me.

Hey what's up everyone. I gotta say I love "Shoot." I love the whole idea and how everything came together, hats off to all those involved. Don't stop here 6767ers keep makin' music together, i mean what a cool concept!!

FOR DAVE: You played with Scott Weiland and Matt Sorum recently at the Camp Freddy show. I was just wondering if there are any signs of turmoil within VR, because some reports are saying that the band is having managment trouble and that band members might not be seeing eye to eye. I really hope this isn't true, cuz their such a kick ass rock band. I would really appreciate it if you answered this question, even if your answer is "I don't know." Just thinkin you might be able to shed some light on these rumors since you know the guys personally. Also, from your experience, would management problems really affect the fate of a band? Thanks.

hey people~
I'm on my way out, just stopping by to say hello. Feeling :S because my dog (he's a huge puppy still at one year old) bashed me in the mouth yesterday with his paw, by accident, when he was trying to get up on the chair with me, and his claws chipped my front teeth. Dentist. Arghhh!!!!! He also just went to the vet and needs an operation.
But I have a wedding on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, and don't think I'll get in before then.

Pardon the grumpiness....
love to all

Maria~did you get your Scar Tissue book signed by Anthony Keidis? I see his doing some book signings.

RE: the who's bashing P.F. question. I don't think any 6767 people are Perry bashing. And I'm sure most of us appreciated J.A, and still listen to the music.

RE: VR~I have a feeling lots of that is PR, i.e attention-getting device.

Dave gEfow~I am sure six7six7 was only using their warped ( :P ) sense of humour.
I thought it was serious commentary for a while, then it dawned on me that six7six7

Hi Dave,

I see that you are going to be on Carson Daly's show on October 5th & you're also doing a book signing in Ridgewood, New Jersey on October 7th.

Any chance of a NYC book signing??

Are you making the rounds of the morning talk shows....Regis & Kelly, The View, etc? Or the very early morning shows....Good Morning America, TODAY etc??

How about Howard Stern?

BTW, Sellers on ebay are already pre-selling books you haven't even signed yet~~!

take care,
itanja

Posted by: itanja at September 29, 2004 10:53 AM

Us bashing perry is the same as the people over at xiola.org bashing dave...it doesn't get anything done, and it doesn't prove anything. perry was a great frontman, and jane's addiction was an AWESOME band...and i think we should just accept that it's over and that finding blame isn't necessary. we should just enjoy the result (the panic channel)and let everything be.

i'm sorry...it just annoys me when a persons system of defense for a person is putting another one down. i'm sure perry and dave had their differences, but if dave is respectable enough to not say anything mean or derogatory...we might as well have the same amount of respect.

thanks for listening to my rant lol

EMILY,

Posted by: Steve at September 29, 2004 11:53 AM

yes itanja, they are, i inquired to a few. here's my questions and the reply from one:

" " You (that's me asking) asked:
"How can you possibly promise to get this book to someone? If I buy it how do I know you will definately be able to get it signed at the book signing? What happens if you aren't able to get it signed? What if you go and the books are all sold out? I mean it isn't released yet until October 2nd?"

Those are all valid questions. I would suggest waiting until after the signing to purchase a book. Thanks, Carl (the answer they gave, not to convincing eh?)

Dejavu I think it is,Itanja and lisa, I have been ranting about this for days now. There are places that are selling official autographed copies of Dave's book, they are the BOOKSTORES that have entered into a business arrangement with him through proper channels...I'm assuming, or I could be talking out of my ass..

This is the ONLY way, other than calling me, who will be in line with my copy on October 12th, to ensure that the sig is legit, and that the artist who wrote the book is getting their due, no matter how small, at least for the first printing, it should be theirs..

ok, I'll stop hitting the dead horse, I'll let sleeping dogs lie, and I guess I will stop talking about this subject too....I need a hug :(

A quick question about "Shoot": was the solo done by FreAk or Dave?

Posted by: americanzer0 at September 29, 2004 12:48 PM

HeLLo,

americanzer0:

For now, Dave isn't on ShooT...yet! he should throw something really soon.

This is me playing all guitars on ShooT so far. (solo included)

Thanx for all the feedback so far, really positive about the song, the vocals, the bass, and ShooT itself. I'm more than happy that you enjoy this one!

Thanx you so much.

FreAk...your work on shoot is great.
It must have taken a lot of time.
Is it too late to add GuZheng to the mix?
I've been emailing you about trying to get a work in progress, for Protools, but I guess you would need to add it in your program anyways.

Posted by: Susan at September 29, 2004 02:36 PM

hey everyone

Hugs for jezzi

Hey Bill, I don't know about VR's situation personally, but managers and lawyers are a pain in the ass. Aerosmith was almost broken up by managers, as was audioslave, motley cure, and plenty of other bands. I've read in the press that scott is using again, but then a lot of other people near him say he's still straight. managers and lawyers tend to have huge egos and think they know whats best for the band. They try to make your choices for you and keep you out of the loop on things they don't think you need to know about. I've even seen a damn good band who broke up just after being signed because the manager got his panties in a twist and took something an A&R guy said wrong.

sorry for the rant, but buisness side of music can suck!

Starting Tuesday, October 5, Don’t Try This At Home will be available for purchase at the Universal City Walk Sam Goody store. Fans interested in attending the autograph signing must purchase the book at the store to receive a special wristband that will give them access to the event.

Shane you read that Scott is using again in the press??? That’s funny, I haven’t read anything but positive things as of late. The only place that I read something negative about him has been in the blabbermouth blog, but as you probably already know 99% of the people that post over there are a bunch of ….there are a few rare exceptions. Anyhow, I don’t mean to sound too strong about this but Scott is one of my favorite musicians and I’m a mod at the VR site so I keep up with things that pertain to all the band members. I just don’t like unfounded statements but then again maybe I missed a few things (I have been known to do that every now and then). About the management split, I think people are just blowing things out of proportion. I personally don’t believe in making myself miserable about something unless it’s completely unavoidable and even then, what good does it do? Enjoy the moment. MOOYYAA Saraswati and Jezzi, I loved the pictures.

SS

Posted by: SS at September 29, 2004 06:30 PM

wendybird I apologize if I offended you. I don't think scott is using, and I hope that is not the case. Though I've heard it from a few different places, I don't belive much of what I read and as I stated I've heard from people near him that he is clean. I was only trying to make the point that people around a band can have negative influence on a band, be it press, managament, layers, record co people, ect... I personally think VR is kicking a big gapeing hole in a very boring music industry and I'm lovin every minute of it. I'm so excited about TPC for the same reasons. what music we've got to hear is great and almost everyone I know is hungry for something new and exciting.

Dave, steve, chris, perc rock on!!

Shane, I didn't mean to come off too strong sorry about that. And I didn't take anything you said personally I just didn't want false rumors spreading. That's all.

"I personally think VR is kicking a big gapeing hole in a very boring music industry and I'm lovin every minute of it. I'm so excited about TPC for the same reasons. what music we've got to hear is great and almost everyone I know is hungry for something new and exciting. "

I totally agree with all of that. That's why I'm here too. :)

I'm off to watch Scissor Sisters.

Today I was looking at my Ritual de lo Habitual cd and saw the Parental advisory notice on the front(unfortunately I have a copy that does not have the original artwork). As it dawned on me when this was released and how close that was to the whole Explicit Lyrics debate, I wondered what your stance was on these warnings that are "protecting our children's ears". What did you feel at the time of release and how do you feel now?
P.S. I love Go On
Thanks,
Aaron

Is it rue that there is a live DVD retrospective in th works of Jane's material from the older days to the present material?

hey aaron...i was wondering why ritual even had a parental advisory sticker (even nothing's shocking)...the language on that cd wasn't bad at all!! it was somewhat poetic as a matter of fact. nothing like the cd's that come out today and have 10000 "bad words" and don't receive a sticker at all. oh well...what can you do...i just think it was the industry railing against something new and unconvential and trying to stop janes in its tracks.

i never got this whole censorship debate...i don't agree with it...i think the whole thing was started by lazy parents who didn't want to raise their kids so they let the "electronic age" do it and w/o values and morals from their parents, kind of became lose cannons...so the parents decided to find something other than themselves to blame. it's up to the parents to teach the kids right and wrong...not the industry's.

that's my 2nd rant for the day lol...sorry about that...just feeling very vocal today lol...and opnionated...much love and respect to all!

That was Tipper Gore who started the music censorship campaigne that resulted in the now common stickers. Thanks Tipper! What would we all do without that little sticker...lol.

Shoot is sounding pretty cool.
Dave I just have a quick question.
I know you've made some amazing music with the guitar, but i'm curious what other instruments you can play or want to play?

I remember that whole sticker deal and alternate cover. It was for the cover art not so much the content. The cover was the scultpure of Perry, Xiola and Casey. Full frontal nudity... I thought it was brilliant.

For the support of that album, JA played two shows at the Palladium with Primus and the Pixies. It is at the top of my all-time best concerts! It was like a dream.

Thanks Abby! ;)
Tipper is in my Surreal Life with, well, lmao, you saw that Abby!
Thing is sticker records get attention. But what's with the oh so self righteous people and anyone deciding where the line is drawn. PMRC :P blah.
Who notices the little sticker anyway?

Ritual, the big deal was the cover, and at the time I was going what's wrong with the cover? What's so explicit on that album? I dunno. I thought the cover was fine! :D

Maybe they didn't like the shoplifting references? O.o

Who makes the stickers? 3M? Maybe they came up with the while idea really. :D

What makes me laugh is on itunes it says explicit next to the song title to download.
