New York, New York
So, today I am going to New York for a couple of days. I will try to check in from the lobby computer at the Hotel. I never really got into the CF show from the other day. I will say that we had a kick ass time and it went great. When I got out to the speedway, I discovered that Camp Freddy was still going to do our radio show from the location. I didn't know about that so I apologize for the false information. After, we had a killer set and were joined by Steve Isaacs for the first time on stage. We did a couple of Who covers. What a blast that was. There is a more detailed blow by blow on the Steve Isaacs site.
1. What are your impressions of Banyan and more specifically NELS CLINE?
I love Banyan and I think Nels is the s@!t. Very creative and different.
2. Dave...I have a running bet with my friends: I say the guitar in this pic is hilarious, and they say it's a travesty.
Although it's not for me, I say it is metal and it rules!
3. Maybe you should call yourselves Camp Fourty instead.
Touche! Very clever. "Camp Forty" would even be funnier.
4. I was wondering Dave wheres your fav place in Europe.??
I don't think Europeans consider it Europe, but I love England. Vienna is amazing too.
5. I'm entering an air guitar competition in a few weeks and I need a song to wield my invisible axe to.
How about Yngwie or Satriani?
6. I would like to know how you addiction to heroine started, what were your thoughts at that time. Did someone offer it to you or did you try it to see what was it like as many people do it to know how it feels.
A friend of mine and I just wanted to check it out. Bad idea. She is no longer with us as a result of the disease. I narrowly escaped myself.
7. Dave, you previously mentioned being a NIN fan, how was it working with Trent and Co. on the Piggy remix?
Easy and fun. As it ought to be.
8. I was just wondering when was the first time you met Steve Isaacs and when we became friends.
Back in 1991. We met at the Video Music Awards.
9. What is that font from Til Death Do Us Part title? some celtic or old german font? do you have exact link where I can get it?
I honestly do not know.
10. What ever happened to the soundtrack you and Chad did for "Ugly meets the People"?
Wow! I hate to repeat myself, but I don't know the answer to that either.
I'll check in from the East Coast...

Heyy, New York. Hmm,you're kinda close. I live in Pa. Have a good time. Hm and i was wondering... i've been wondering for awhile. I'm confused. On your wedding on TTDUP you played Ballroom Blitz, And i'm confused bacause I dont see any evidence of you playing that like on a Cd or anything. And so I'm wondering if it was just a song you all knew and thought it was cool to play that day or is it actually on a Cd? Because I actually loved yours. I've heard Misfits, and/or ACDC's but I liked that way you played it on your wedding better.

Dave,
thanks for the answers. so i have that question to everybody - do you know what's that font of Til Death Do Us part title. i'd love to get another tattoo with that font. thanks for any help.
how's your jogging routine Dave? do you still run like 5 miles a day? do you work out while you are away like in Vegas for example?
have a beautiful day,

Dave, have a great time in NYC (my old stomping grounds). Be sure to have a BBQ Brisket sandwich at Virgil's (44th & Broadway), and if you can, pizza at Lombardi's on Spring St. Best.Pizza.EVER.

Dave,
Satriani - great choice! Don't know too much about Yngwie (I'm only 23), must check him(?) out. Torn between the Top Gun Anthem (RIP Goose) and Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love by Van Halen at the moment but will definitely take your considered opinion on board! Bought some Motley Crue and Poison DVDs which I'll hopefully get some moves from! Let you know how I get on, apparently my competition are piss poor so I should have very little problem in succeeding!

Hey Dave,
Question about the Jane's Days. Hope you can help. Is it true you guys played Australia and New Zealand after the So called last show in Hawaii? Seems trivial, but I'm quite a collector and I wonder if you really played those shows or if they were cancelled.

Hey Dave,
I was wondering if you have ever heard any stuff by Nuno Bettencourt's new band Population-1 or any of his solo stuff like the 2 albums he did with his Mourning Widows band? Some of that stuff is similar in ways to your T.N.O. album. Are you into Nuno?
Cheers!

Hello Dave,
Sounds like I should have sucked up my fear of bad hair and checked out the show, if only to see my girl Juliette!!
Have fun in New York! I was there Christmases past and did all the touristy, never going to have a chance to go again so better see everything things.
1. I wonder, those that get to go often, what is the one thing you haven't got tired of seeing yet?
I've often thought that if I ever had the chance to go again, it would be to spend longer inside the library, just checking it out, or the MMOA..
2. Anyone else out there, a fan of Richard Avedon?
3. Where does the copy from the Panic Channel site come from?
I especially like 'share your sorrow'.
Personal Note: I was in Ocean Beach this weekend with my family and scored a vintage VHS copy of Rexall! It was hard to contain excitement, happy to report that I maintained my poker face until I was safely home!

Dave,
What do you think about the saying opposites attract. Would you say that having a certain difference between two people can work itself out as a good balance?

Hey Dave,
Thank you for rocking NASCAR this year. Every year, they have a concert, but the last few years, it's been really weak. You guys were amazing. I have some wonderful pictures of you guys, right up close. And that Steve Isaacs is so rad... his voice is perfect for covering The Who. I can't wait to see Camp Freddy again soon!

Hey, I am so confused. I tuned in just in case Camp Freddy was on, or maybe in case it was a repeat I missed, and it wasn't Camp Freddy. I put it on about 3:10am UK time, 10 mins after it is supposed to start normally.
What time was it on?
Video?

Hey Dave,
I am a 19 year old musician. I started classical piano at age 5, classical violin at age 10, but it was quite easy to get gigs having a strong classical music loving community. Four years ago I picked up my first electric guitar and I couldn't put it down. Now I am having difficulty finding a way to be heard.. any suggestions in marketing myself .. a change of city perhaps lol ? Thanx a million

Florida Family... Like 'Neida said... How can we help?
Dave... Have a good trip to NY, bro! It's one of my favorite cities and every time I go, it's harder and harder to leave. LOL While I'm at it... just want to toss in my suggestions here... For great Italian... Carmine's, right around the corner from MTV... and I love the food at Brazil Grill and Maria's... both on W. 49th. Angus McIndoe over on W. 44th is pretty good too.
Lisa... Look on the right side of the page here up at the top... the video is the first one on the Downloads page... :D It kicks ass too! As far as the radio show... I had it on too, but it wasn't CF or the concert... unless I turned it off too quickly to hear them... so I'm a little lost on that one too. I figure I should have listened a little longer... :(
Tomorrow is the first of my last four days at this job. I'm happy about that, because after Saturday, I'll have a week of vacation and then I'm off to Chicago! :D
I suppose I should get some decent sleep tonight... LOL
Love and respect to Dave and the Family!

Hey Dave. Sounds like you had a pretty good weekend. That's so great. Mine was pretty good too. I'm expecting to have a weird weekend coming up. I'm going to be meeting my half-brother for the first time. He's 29. I've known about him all my life, but he's lived in a different state all this time & none of my family has had any contact with him until recently. I'm really nervous about meeting him. Any comforting words you can give me? Do you have any family members you've never met? Take care & have a great week! :o)
Love always, Kelli

Just watched "Wasteland" - sounds great to me. I wish it would be a longer clip. Any chance of seeing more?
I read on Steve I. site about the secret shows in L.A. area. Lucky people who live there and can go.....
Please don't forget Europe on your plans for the future!!!! Haha, about England - yeah that is a special place here...no offense i like it too, was in London several times and it rocks!
see ya all
have fun in NY Dave

9. What is that font from Til Death Do Us Part title? some celtic or old german font? do you have exact link where I can get it?
Try www.identifont.com, you just tell it the words that you have in the font and answer lots of questions about their shape. Usually narrows it down to a list of 30 and shows where they can be bought (you could do a screen shot and comp the word you want together, but that would be stealing!). Would look myself, but no copy of the TDDUP logo here.

Welcome to Gotham, Dave! Start spreading the news...hehe Sorry you got stuck with the gross weather today. This weekend has been crazy-- in the 80's on Sunday, 60's Monday & today kind of rainy- yick. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your stay :)
6767 friends & fam-- I miss you guys! I have not been able to utilize this 'post a comment' section on my Mac desktop at home which has been super annoying but I'm glad Fordham has good computer labs- woo hoo!
I actually have that picture from Guitar World, Dave, on my wall of RHCP-related pictures from back in the day. I believe the headline read, "Red, Hot & Bothered"! haha Lovin it haha
Anyway, hope to keep connected to the music journalism scene especially now that I'm in NY. I'm gonna see what all I can take advantage of on campus and in the city so I'm pumped--- so if you need anything, hit me up!
love you guys. I have a couple posts to backtrack now but hopefully I'll be writing more soon.

How's things? I was curious, when you do guest tracks on albums ie Manson, G 'N' R, etc do you just go in, put the track down and that's it? Or do you still have to do a lot of paperwork for royalties etc?

Hello!
I have started reading your site since CPS and I thoroughly enjoy it! Took a weekend trip down to NASCAR country (NC) and was able to check the site each day. The funny thing was, my host had babysitting software on her 'puter - I could read the entries, but when I tried to respond to something I read - it said this site may not be suitable for kids! I found much irony in it. I also am far from being a kid!
Any how, along the way, my younger sister was telling me what music her friends were listening too - suprised me because they were groups that were popular before she was born! AC/DC, Nirvana, etc. . . . and I laughed - the joys of having a sister 20+ years my junior - and I told her that she could listen to the new CD I just picked up - TNO. She is hooked. I don't think I will ever get my music back!
Heading to NYC soon myself.
Keep it real!
Always,
me

Just wondering what your actual take on the Strays record is? I really really love it. I'm right now watching a tape I recorded of the MTV 5th anniversary show you taped here in England and it reminded me what a damn good album it is. And that was a great show too.

Dave,
OMG I haven’t had a chance to post but let me just tell you that you guys rocked and those jeans God they are definitely keepers if it wasn’t for the gigantor in front of me I would have got a good picture of them. Also, I wanted to let you know that everyone around me was admiring your Guitar Straps too. All of you guys totally rocked! I had one thing that puzzled my itzy bitsy mind though. Since this was my first time seeing you guys sober I don’t know if I missed it before anyhow here it is, what’s up with everyone’s fascination with the mic being used as a you know what? Don’t get me wrong it was funny as hell but I just thought it was odd that all the singers where doing it. I took my brothers’ friend with me who has never seen you guys and he was totally impressed. Hopefully I can get the pictures developed and scanned soon so I can share with everyone. I don’t think they’ll be that great because I used a point and shoot disposable camera but I’m sure I got some ok shots. Anyhow just wanted to share what a great show it was.

That site couldnt be Carmen. Those stories are rediculous. I mean I dont believe that Carmen would just try and fix Dave's guitar up with nail polish. I think she would be very sorry and straight up tell him and all would be cool. And just one day wake up and see that Dave's gone and think he's missing. I'm sure they're closer than that, she would either watch him leave or maybe he'd leave her a note, and OF COURSE tell her ahead of time. And shes gotta know how to spell her own name. And if I'm wrong, I'm so sorry, No offense. But that just doesnt seem to be the Carmen I "know/see".

Hey eveybody, I'm back...
We lost power Sat night not to long after my last post. The next day was crazy, and brutal, you just held on listening to the radio, whatching tree limbs come down and the lake rise. It came within 6 feet of my door but no flooding for us. Sunday night there was still alot of wind and rain but that kept it cool. Monday was hell, hot, humid and no wind. there was a mall not to far away that got power back, and everyone was there at the iMac store checking their e-mail. Last night as we tried to sleep, no wind, 89 deggrees, and at least 300% humidity you just lay there sweating, praying, for a breeze, for somthing....
and then at 1:00 am I hear some redneck yell YeeaaaHOOOOOO!!! I looked out the window and saw lights coming on all over the neighbor hood. Please god give us air. and VOOM! we had power. the power substaion is skip away so I grabed a six pack and some water bottles out of the cooler and ran. I know there were a lot of happy people in our neigborhood but the biggest smiles had to be on those 5 power guys faces when I came around the corner with those beers. They had driven straight in from kansas, slept 5 hours and had been working for 18 hours straight. And they weren't about to stop. those guys are my heros.
As for what you can do, Keep sending your great vibes kind thoughts and prayers our way. Alot of my familly and friends are still without power. They are saying it may be another week for some people. and by then we may have another huricane. the red cross is doing a fantastic job down here so your support of them is the best I can recomend. thank you to everyone here on the board for your kind thoughts great vibes and prayers.
