Ink/10

miamiholly013_copyHere is the new ink done by Thomas at Hart and Hunington Tattoo in the Palms Casino. Really great work. He is awesome!

1. Are you or any of the camp freddy guys gonna be a part of the ramones anniversary show at the avalon?

I know I am not, but I'm not sure if anyone else is. I know Flea and John are supposed to be there.

2. I get upset and contemplate suicide. All this brings my confidence down and I dont know what to do. Help?

Honestly, therapy is the best suggestion I can make. It has helped me a great deal.

3. I saw Carmen doing a blockbuster commercial the other day. So, does that mean you guys get free rentals?

No, it doesn't.

4. It's really getting frustrating and it is starting to show within the band's personal relationships. I don't want the band to come to an end because these are some of my best friends, but they seem to be directing all their negativity towards me and stifling my creativity.

Try to focus on solution instead of the problems. Sometimes that works.

5. Is it true Eric Avery writes music for and plays in Alanis Morissette's band???

Yes, it is.

6. Anyway, I remember reading that you never liked the songs Walkabout, Tearjerker, and One Hot Minute. What was about them that you didn't like?

I don't know what my problem was. I love those songs now.

7. When you (solo or with a band) write music, does it usually come from a jam session; naturally and unexpected, or is it that you just decide to write a song?

More often it is from a jam, but sometimes someone will have a specific idea. We go with whatever works at the time. Since people don't always feel the same way, we never write the same way.

8. Just curious have you and the band decided on who is going to produce your new record?

We have decided to do a 6 song EP instead of a full record in order to get it out sooner. We have not yet selected a date or a producer.

9. How do you put up with these pricks without trading back the negative energy their giving you?

I just pray for them. I don't need to walk around resentful. It's not worth it.

10. As a musician and a guitarist do you get frustrated or motivated when you hear music such as Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon or Radiohead's OK computer?

Motivated. Always motivated.

Peace,

DN

I have always wondered this... at home do you call Carmen "Carmen" at home or do you call her "Tara"? If Tara... can you explain why you got "CE" on your chest? :)

Because TP stands for Toilet paper, and who wants thet between they're nipples?

Hey Dave, hey people

*whispering very quietly*
I bit the bullet, I did a support gig at short notice, we all got asked back, and even though I was a bit nervous I had a blast.

I just want to thank you Dave and fam, because I honestly don't think I'd even be contemplating going through this again if it wasn't for the creative vibe here...

The guys I was playing with also said I can record stuff at their place.

Also I have an idea for some artwork, but it may take some time, as I'm not a techy.

Peace Out all
with love from a very happy bunny :)

I like the new ink. Very nice script. Do you always have a special type of script in mind or do you let the tattoo guys make some suggestions and then you decide? Also can you tell me what script/font the "Jane's" on your arm is?

thanks and have a good day,
love,
*~Astrid~*

Hey Dave... Family...

Just checking in on my way to bed. It's 4:40am here, and I really should have been asleep hours ago... LOL

Dave... the new ink looks awesome, bro! I'm really looking forward to getting your book when it comes out, too, and I'm hoping you'll be doing some book signings... and if you do, I'm hoping you do one in Chicago, since I'm moving there in two weeks... ;) LOL

To everyone looking in the face of Frances... sending out positive vibes. Keeping an eye on her myself, as it wouldn't take much of a turn for her to end up hitting us here in NC.

Heading to bed now... :)

Much love and respect to Dave and the Family!

Peace,
Tim/Panic Agent Nitewing

Dave, the new tatt looks great (and I really mean that :) You ink freak!

Here's a somewhat strange question for you, Dave:
Do you usually wear cologne or do you go 'natural'? (am I the only one in here who walks around wondering what people smell like? :) If you wear a scent, which one is your favourite?

Have a good one, everyone!

"We have decided to do a 6 song EP instead of a full record in order to get it out sooner. We have not yet selected a date or a producer."

Have you decided which songs are going to be on the EP yet? Is it going to be a straight up rock vibe or a more diverse selection of what you've written so far? Looking forward to hearing it especially if Loophole is on it!

I think you should run a competition whereby people post in different artwork and the one which the band think is best is used as your album cover. You could also put the best of the rest on the inner sleeve. Anyone agree?

Hi Dave,

When "Don't Try This At Home" is released next month, do you plan on doing a book signing tour at all?

Love & Admiration,

Glad to see you made it back safely, Dave. Sweet tat! Love it! I really dig the script; that dude does some good work. Your back seems to still offer a lot of available "canvas." Any plans to get more tattoos on your back? Everyone enjoy your Thursday. Be well. -bjs

To Orange,

Great idea. I'm not talented enough myself to do any artwork but your idea could be seen as some sort of reward to people who have followed the Panic Channel since its inception.

To Dave,

During the recording of Strays you said that you wanted to write primarily 4 minute long songs so as not to allow yourselves to meander in obscure directions. Are you going to stick within similar parameters with the Panic Channel or are you going to allow the songs to breathe more and explore different avenues? I'd love to hear some epic tunes in the vein of Three Days or Ted whereby the songs just flow and take on a life of their own (sort of).

Dave,

Did Jane's ever record a slowed/acoustic version of "Just Because". I really liked the way you guys did that song on the last tour (saying those words still hurts though). Who's idea was it to do the song that way? Did you like it, or the fast/hard version, best?

Posted by: edlong at September 2, 2004 04:36 AM

Hey Dave.
I like the ink, it's quite stilish!
Do you prefer Led Zep - IV or Houses Of The Hly?

Posted by: Christian at September 2, 2004 04:50 AM

hey Dave, the tattoo is nice.
someone asked a question a while ago, it was really good, it was like "When did you start to see Perry as a genius?" or something like that

Because theres the myth of celebrity and you probably don't see Perry the way the rest of us do

It's that myth that makes us think that someone famous is like another kind of being, like Jimi Hendrix, he had a closer connection with music and sound than anyone in recent history, but he was still just a guy ya know? so when did it hit you that the guys had something amazing?

Posted by: Ryan at September 2, 2004 05:44 AM

HI Dave,

Thanx for answering back. but id to ask anyway who came up with the "tea spoon of olive oil" joke in your 97' rhcp master sessions video. cuz i really dont think it could have been the presenter Tom Kolb -he seems to be having a shakey time doin the interview in the first place.....Thanx
Till later...

Hey Dave,

is Tearjerker about Kurt Cobain? everything in the lyrics points at that and it would be an amazing interpretation.

thanks,
Valerio

Hey Dave and Everyone
Nice inks, still waiting to get my first. I wanna get Live Life across me nuckles and a nautical star on my upper left chest.

Posted by: Live Life 131 at September 2, 2004 06:16 AM

I was listening to the new Velvet Revolver CD and there is an acoustic song on it called You Have No Right(track 10), and I thought the guitar part sounded like it could have come from TNO, or at least from some of your work. I was just wondering if you have heard the song and what you think about that.

Posted by: americanzer0 at September 2, 2004 06:42 AM

Well done Reckless Princess~so nice to hear good news like that.

Dave, the tattoo is beautiful, whoever did it is very talented.

Do you see your body as a canvas?

Orange, we had a chat on here about competition type stuff with the art before, and we decided that such competition would inhibit the creative process. Dave put that in one of his posts, if I can find which one I'll let you know. But today is guitar lesson day, and my time is limited on here.

Someone else mentioned this place getting in their dreams, and it was in mine last night too, but mainly music in my head. :D

Dave it's so nice to have you back posting the 10 Q&A again. I really enjoy it.

Love to all,
Lisa

I don't know how much I'm going to be able to post here until i get my computer fixed. it's being an ass...it's all but died...i might have to gut it and then reformat it...or at least find someone to do that for me since i have no clue how to do that. ::sigh::

anyways a question for dave...you've commented that you dye your hair black (dyeing your hair is addictive..i should know lol)...do you dye your own hair or have someone else do it for you? i know i wouldn't be able to dye my own hair...i'd wind up with orange streaks or something like that.

anyways...pray for my computer...i'm on a school one right now...thank god for that! i'd die w/o internet.

adios dudes!

Posted by: Francisco at September 2, 2004 07:18 AM

TP could also stand for TeePee. ;)

Hey, my last name is Jackson, and with a name like that I could get called Jackass.
I'm teasing myself, no one has called me that yet! :P

Hey everyone!!

I'm glad you made it back ok Dave... nice ink!
I was watchin punk'ed the other night + my bf told me that you actually got punk'ed but they weren't allowed to show it. why not?? He said that your driver "hit a guy" and Carmen told him to keep driving, but you made him stop. Is that really true? If so, that was very cool of you to stop... what a nice guy!!! and why did Carmen tell want to keep going??

Is there anyone in here interested in independant films? If so check it out...

http://rockwiler.com/labolsa/index.html

We are filming it this weekend + I'm really excited. It's gonna be shown at a bunch of film festavals + stuff + I would really love if people would come to see it, that is if you live in the area of course(northeast). I'll let you know when + where... please come!!
Dave, if there is anyway, I would love for you to see it too.

Great new tatt!

I was listening to Nothing's Shocking and my dad came into my room and said that this album had been his favourite album when he was 19, when was just one year old. It's great to think that your music that appealed to my parents generation can still appeal to the teenagers and adults of today.

Posted by: fairly_freaksome at September 2, 2004 08:14 AM

is there any chance in the future that you and eric avery will get together to do another deconstruction album?? maybe even use stephen on drums??

Posted by: Master Zekk at September 2, 2004 08:29 AM

Twisted Angel, there is a clip of Dave and Carmen's Punk'd on Mtv.com...I've watched it a couple times and I didn't hear Carmen say to keep going, but my 'puter doesn't play video that well, so go there and check it out.

Dave and community, have a great day!

Hey Dave,
The new tattoo looks great! I myself have 2 and have a sort of regret getting them done by the person I went too. All signs point to him being on coke at the time (previous knowledge of his drug use, and he sneezed and white powder came out of his nose...my mom was very unimpressed with him), and I sometimes wonder if that effected his work or if he's just bad at what he does. Anyway, my question is, considering the amount of ink you have done, do you regret any of them, or wish you had designed something differently?

I know now that if you're gonna get it done, get it done right and fly to vegas! woo vegas!

The new tatt looks awesome Dave! That guy does nice work. One of my best friend's big brother is a tattoo artist - seems like an interesting job!:-)

I started classes today, it was a good time. One more tonight, two tomorrow, then home to spend the Labor Day weekend with my family. I miss them all a lot, even though I'm having fun at school.

Much love to the family.
