Stuff

Will_spreadI have noticed a lot of talk about Scott recently and let me assure you, he was in great form the other night. At the top of his game and totally professional.

1. Who is Lisa Leverage? She looks pretty cool in the pic, but I don't know what band she is in.

Lisa plays guitar for Courtney. She rules! We traded guitar straps that night.

2. Is Matt going to be playing at the CF show at Irving Plaza on the 21st? If not, is Perk going to fill in?

I believe Perkins will be joining us.

3. Dejavu I think it is,Itanja and lisa, I have been ranting about this for days now. There are places that are selling official autographed copies of Dave's book, they are the BOOKSTORES that have entered into a business arrangement with him through proper channels...I'm assuming, or I could be talking out of my ass..

I will be doing 2 book signings in NY and 2 in LA. Some of the stores are offering a chance to get the book signed if you purchase it on the date of release. It would be nice to be able to give everyone out there a free signed copy but then M.A.P. wouldn't reap the benefit. My proceeds will be going to M.A.P., a charitable organization that helps addicts with recovery. I have nothing to do with the money, I'm just trying to do my share and help out people who are struggling with the same demons I have been so blessed to be set free from. Whether you buy a book from the store, a man on the street, or e-bay….someone down the line had to have bought it somewhere and that money is accounted for and will be sent to M.A.P.

4. How about Howard Stern?

10/4

Just want to say thank you again for all your support and for sharing your pictures with us. We are looking forward to launching The Panic Channel web site on 10/31... Holloween. I don't know if I have raved enough about Shoot! It feels so good to be part of such an awesome community. Not only is the track rocking, but it is a total Online collaboration! You guys rule. None of you even live in the same country! Great job. I should be in the studio in mid-October, so perhaps I can jump on it too.

Correction: ...On Earth

YlaiswingstpcWe played our "private party" last night at the Anaheim House of Blues. It was an amazing show. Everybody played and sang great. Courtney! Wow! She is doing so good now. A pleasure to be around and an incredible presence on stage. Undeniable. Right before we played, Jay Leno and Robin Williams each did a set of comedy. (This guy really knows how to throw a party) My friend Gregg got some great photos and when he sends them to me I will put up a few. It was an incredible set. Steve Jones came up and played guitar on Pretty Vacant and Bodies by his old band The Sex Pistols. McGrath sang Pretty Vacant and Scott Wieland sang Bodies. They both nailed the tracks. As an encore, as in true Camp Freddy form, we did Iggy's "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and had everyone out on stage: Courtney, Scott, Mark, Steve Jones, Billy Duffy, Jerry Cantrell, Lisa Leverage and the rest of the core band, me, Billy Morrison, Matt Sorum, Chris Chaney and Donovan. Earlier, Donovan did a great job with "Metro" by Berlin, which we just threw in there last minute. I think it was our first New Wave CF moment. What is so amazing about this band is that there has never been an ego problem with anyone. It's like we all check our egos at the door and just play because we love the music and there is so much mutual respect flying around. Just like when we were all kids with a dream, those feelings come rushing back for everyone. After the show, Carmen, Gregg and I hit the Rainbow on the Sunset Strip for a little post show throw down... after all, it was technically Sunday. I am tired today, but I am going to my family's house to do our annual family Christmas photo. It's a big deal for me because this is the first time we have done one of these that will include my wife, Carmen, who is now an official member of our family. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and I will get those pictures up. I also have to get on Steve Isaacs about the Dragonfly clips. I apologize for the delay.

Peace and Love to you all,

Dave

The Happiest Place in the World

Rsm_tpc_panic_grapesSo today we roll out to Anaheim for this private party. Rehearsal yesterday was a lot of fun. We have Mark McGrath doing, Jailbreak and Pretty Vacant; Scott Weiland doing Young American, Bodies and Sedated; Courtney Love doing All The Young Dudes and Search and Destroy. Of course we are joined by guitarists Jerry Cantrell, Billy Duffy and Lisa Leverage. I'm hoping that there will be video and pictures to share, I just don't know what the vibe is down there, private party and all. Speaking of video, we finally have some video from the Dragonfly show. As soon as it is loaded, we will upload some clips. When we do, please forgive the image and sound quality as it is really "home grown" style.

1. Dave I check out Page Six every few days & lately I am wondering how real their info is. How much of what the page six story on you is real compared to false rumor.

Well, most of that is true, except the Nikki Sixx thing, that was someone else.

2. But Dave how are you feeling about all this being released in papers, and elsewhere in the media?

I suppose I should have expected this, but I guess it just sucks that they don't point out that this was a year in my life that I have since recovered from. The media makes these stories look dark, interesting and even a little fun, but the truth is that these times were just awful. What can you do? I don't mind the stories, I just want the message of hope to be the focus, but I know I can't micromanage everything. I suppose a message of hope really isn't something that the Page Six people are interested in.

All the best my friends,

Dave

Just a reminder, Camp Freddy Radio is a repeat today.

CL Kickin Ass!

Panic_cropWell, it has been a few days since I have actually checked in. What can I report? I have updated the Agency Artwork pages. Some cool stuff and some cool and funny stuff. Thank you for the submissions. The link is on the right as Agency Artwork 4. Once again, we had a really amazing time on Tuesday night and enjoyed meeting some of you. There was a mention in Blabbermouth about the gig:

THE PANIC CHANNEL, the new band featuring former JANE'S ADDICTION members Dave Navarro (guitar), Stephen Perkins (drums) and Chris Chaney (bass), along with singer Steve Isaacs, made their live debut on Tuesday (Sept. 21) at the Dragonfly in Los Angeles, CA. The group's set list for the show was as follows:
01. Punish Me
02. UnHoly Ghost
03. Loophole
04. Bloody Mary
05. She Won't Last
06. Outsider
07. Go On
08. Half Hearted
09. Ashes
Commented Navarro: "That was so much fun! Thank you so much to everyone who came and supported us. It was so great to meet some of you and be back in the club. I hadn't played there in years."

In a separate posting, Navarro's CAMP FREDDY bandmate Billy Morrison (DOHENY, ex-THE CULT) wrote, "The songs are killer, Steve is a perfect frontman, and Dave, as usual, is a genius on guitar. Chaney and Perkins have to be one of the best rhythm sections out there. Big up to the guys, and I look forward to great things from them."

What else? Unfortunately, CFR tomorrow is going to be a repeat as we (Camp Freddy) are doing a private party in Anaheim. I wish you guys could come, but I will tell you all about it and we will make it up to our West Coasters at the Wiltern show, East Coasters at the Irving Plaza show. Yesterday I went down to Courtney Love's studio and went over a couple of songs for the CF show with her and her guitar player Lisa. We did Iggy's Search and Destroy and Courtney just killed it. Her voice sounds better than ever and she is doing so well. She looks great, sounds great and I am so happy for her. She has been through enough and I can totally relate. (Psychic group hug for Courtney.) Today we rehearse, cram session style, as we always do before a CF gig. I am really looking forward to it.

This question came in which caught me eye:

Q: In your opinion, would you have been able to write something like the solos in Three Days or Noone's Leaving or even the One Hot Minute stuff (which is one of the greatest and most underrated guitar albums around)without the use of drugs? Or did it help to get something out of your system you might not have been able to express otherwise?

A: I appreciate the praise regarding OHM. The truth is that I was totally clean throughout that process. So, I suppose the answer is yes. The JA record was written way before the recording so even though I was not at my best when we recorded, I was when we were writing. Different times, different albums, different guys.

Peace my loves,

Dave

Coffee and Love

GcdYesterday was a lot of fun! Chad picked me up early in the morning and we went out to the desert to shoot the video for the Glenn Hughes video, Soul Mover. It was hot, but not unbearable. Glenn is just an amazing guy and Chad is, well, you know Chad, he is the s@#t! On the way back, it dawned on me as it often does, just how many cool and fun experiences I would miss if I were still loaded. I thank God every day for the gift of life. I did miss Camp Freddy Radio yesterday but I know that Donovan held down the fort well and from what I have read here, Billy called in from the Inland Invasion. I'm jealous he got to see Siouxsie! That would have been amazing. I remember seeing her every night on Lolla 91. What a presence and performer. Definitely one of my all time favorite artists. What else? I do know that bass has been added to "Shoot", our online jam and should be ready for unveiling fairly soon. Perhaps by the next CFR on Indie. I'd love to play it there and "show off" my talented friends online. By the way, Steve did get the purple ÷13 amp.

1. Dave, what do you think to Chris Cornell?

He is amazing! Just enough 70's, just enough Metal and just enough modern sense.

2. Dave--much love, but: LAY OFF THE WAH!!!!!!!

I just can't help myself, I love that thing!

3. dave, i was just wondering-- is this really your guitar? it looks like shit to me... i mean, the sigature doesnt even look like yours, but i dont know it is supposedly all the way back from '91. just wondering...

Good times. I remember it well. Yes, that was once mine.

4. Thanks to you I was able to relax and not get into it with my family. I love what you do with this site and everyone here is so positive. Thank you so much for giving us all a place to come, and amazing music to listen to.

Thank you Shane. Our prayers are with you and your father.

5. hey dave how would you rate the following films out of 10...big lebowski , smokey and the bandit, spinal tap,and adaptation

Big Lebowski - 9

Smokey and the Bandit - 2

Spinal Tap - 10

Adaptation - 10

6. Is todays picture a tattoo or just magic marker? i can't quite tell.

I think it is a marker, but I am not sure either.

7. so my question, what hurts worse, tattoos or piercings?

I say body piercings, not ears, hurt worse. Plus recovery and healing time is much longer.

8. What is your opinion on bands who slag off other bands example:Oasis vs Blur,A.kiedis vs M.Patton, pretty much the whole rap scene. Is it publicity stunts, media manipulation or is it just petty mouthing off.

Good question. I for one, am not into it. Sure there is music I do not enjoy out there, but I can choose not to listen. Everyone has the right to create and make music. As I have said before, I am not "anti" anything but I am "pro" quite often. I choose not to be a part of the slagging, but I will admit, it can be fun to watch. I aint THAT spiritual!

9. oooooooooooo new video when is it gonna be on mtv Dave ? Dave do you know when the chilis are planning to release another album?

Don't know about the video as it is mainly for Europe. Glenn said I could put a Quicktime here though. As for the Chilis, they are currently writing for a new album, so I don't know of a release date yet.

10. AAAAAhhhh just got off the phone with my sis aka chickbassplayer Shoot is coming along peeps. I can't wait to hear some vocals from Kyle!!! Have a great weekend "fam"...

Yes! I have received the file and it is really starting to take shape.

Have a beautiful Sunday,

Dave

Sweet Soul Mover

DavetatWhat up everybody? Friday in the hood. Just checking in, nothing much going on. Rehearsals, TPC stuff etc. Tomorrow I am going to join Chad Smith and Glenn Hughes to shoot a video for the song we did called Soul Mover. My understanding is that it will be for Europe only, but we will see what we can do about that won't we? The track is killer and I hope the video will be too. I'm always down for rocking with Chad. It'll be nice to join up once again. I have heard that there is also some forward movement on Shoot, the online jam. I'm psyched to check that out when it's done and ready for a little premiere. I have a Camp Freddy conferrence call to jump on so I'll keep it short and leave you with... "Have a nice day."

R.I.P.

Logo_ramones1R.I.P. Johnny. Your music has touched us all and we will never forget the joy you have brought into our lives. Years ago, like in the late 80's/ early 90's we did some shows opening up for the Ramones. It was one of those experiences that I cannot describe how amazing it was, to actually open for our heroes was such a beautiful gift. It is so nice that Johnny was able to feel the love of his peers before he left us. You will be missed, mate. God Bless.

Animal Avengers

AvengersToday I am going to go and play Blackjack. You know, that "favorite casino game". Hopefully I will do well, but I'll be honest, I am the world's worst Blackjack player. It's a charity event so I am sure it will be fun. I am doing it as a favor to my friends Joe Reitman and Shannon Elizabeth. They have founded an organization called Animal Avengers. They help protect and save animals from being put to sleep and place them in a loving home. Anything I might win will go to that cause. (Fingers crossed.)

1. I also wanted to ask if you have told friends/musical peers about the online collaboration going on here and what their thoughts on it are?

They love it. I have heard nothing but positive feedback.

2. Are you only playing TPC songs at the upcoming show?

Yeah, it will be all TPC. The set is about 40 minutes.

3. Also, are your sure you went traditional with the wedding? 'Cause I remember the priestess or whoever she was mentioning the five elememnts and the Goddess... *shrugs*

Well, as traditional as we get anyway.

4. But, must admit, finally in public, my strange but serious attraction to.......Toby?

I totally get it.

5. tell me, would it be a faux pas to wear it (CF T shirt) to TPC show???

Not at all.

6. What Cd is in your car stereo right now?

Dr. Dre - The Chronic

7. Dave, since you went to Nascar and experienced it, what do you think the attraction to it is?

I'm still not sure. It was way too hot to figure it out, but we did have fun.

8. just wondered what you think of when you listen to TNO. some of the themes in songs such as rexall have changed completly since you met carmen. thanks. much love, VIF

I still love the record, it documents a time. I have moved through a lot of those feelings and I think the process of making the record was part of how I did.

9. I am starting to think the guys from Buckcherry are not some of your fave people.

Actually, I just don't know any of them apart from Josh.

10. Check out the Doheny video if you haven't. It is really great!

Peace,

Dave

Ten

Sticker_final1. What kind of practice schedule do you guys have for Camp Freddy? I can imagine it is hard to find time to jam between your own bands and busy schedules. Do you guys just know the songs so well that you can just play them at the drop of a hat?

We usually just rehearse once the day before a gig.

2. That is the coolest photo ive seen of you this year, im guessing your trying to get you use out of your chrome heart trousers considering what they are worth as they are on you in nearly every picture you are in.

You got that right!

3. Cheesy question of the day: Dave, are those "hazel" eyes?

They are.

4. my friend thinks that famous users have nutritionist to help you look healthy.

Untrue.

5. FYI - you can see your chest-hair stubble in that pic. Remember, "trim before take shirt off."

Thank you for the tip!

6. Dave, i have to ask. is there a rock band in the world that You think is awful, that just sucks? and can You name one guitar player who is popular and You think he shouldn't be cause in Your opinion he plays really bad? please, answer this one cause i'm getting worry that You like everone and everything and i think that it's just impossible...

I don't like everything, but I don't hate anything. It's not worth the mental space in my head. I just try to speak positively about people or not at all.

7. Dave....will we be able to get any more sneak peeks of TPC before the show???

I don't think so, but we will for sure video the show and upload some stuff for those who cannot attend.

8. also, have you heard about the love and rockets reunion tour? rumors had it that you were playing with them. that would be amazing.

As amazing as that would be, it is unfortunately, untrue.

9. Dave are you going to spring this last bit of info on us last minute...
or for us outa towners could you give us some time to make plans to try to get there?

The will be a heads up a day before for those that are signed up on the mailing list and the Agents.

10. Are you guys gonna use some of the submitted Panic Channel artwork for shirts and other merchandise? There is alot of really good pics that people have made.

Good idea. The only problem is compensation and copyright issues. Something to address when we get further down the line. I had hoped to include some of them in the album art.

Happy Birthday Perk!

ThepanicchannelhandToday is Stephen Perkins' Birthday! Happy Birthday Perk!!!!

1. It seems that you tend to keep your tattoos on your arms and, for the most part, off your chest/stomach (with a couple exceptions). Is there any reason in particular for that?

No reason, really. I'm getting there.

2. Would you say that your use to the pain of getting tattoos, or does it not even bother you now?

No, they still hurt, for sure.

3. Dave, what do you think about Melissa Auf der Maur as person?

I consider her a friend, an awesome person and musician. She has rocked with Camp Freddy. She did a killer Sabbath tune with us.

4. I'm confused. On your wedding on TTDUP you played Ballroom Blitz, And I’m confused because I don’t see any evidence of you playing that like on a Cd or anything.

That was Camp Freddy. The song in question will appear on our album, currently in the works.

5. I'm thinking about getting your name tattooed on my left wrist as sort of a thank you for inspiring me to pick up the guitar and as a reminder to always work hard at it and try to play as cool and creatively as you do. Would you approve of this idea, or should I seek help??

I say do whatever makes you happy. Would I approve? Of course. I am honored.

6. Dave, I've heard that the episode of Punk'd with you and Carmen was never shown, and have only heard rumors of why that was. Is that true, and if so, what happened?

No, it has been on quite a few times. I don't really know why it was pulled for so long. Legal stuff I think.

7. Dave, if you'd have to play a gig with just one additional effect, what would it be (also the make!) and why?

My Cry Baby. Why? I love it.

8. Is there anyway I could get backstage passes to come say hi?

Well, the club we are playing doesn't really have a backstage.

9. What is the measure of success for TPC? Is it- play what makes you happy and if people like it, then great? Something else?

You got it. The only expectation we have is to have fun and be creative with our lives.

10. I think September 13th is Steven Perkins bday, am I wrong?

You are so right!

Be well,

DN

Sunday Update

RsmtpcwallpapervortexSo here is some new info. The band has a new e-mail address. (mail@thepanicchannel.com)You can use this address to send in comments, questions, art or audio files. The AOL account is no longer in use. Thank you all for your sentiments yesterday. I hope the day brought you peace and gratitude for life as it did me. Billy Morrison and I had a great time on Camp Freddy Radio yesterday. We spoke to several 67-ers including, FreAk, Pony and Karen. So cool to hear your voices. FreAk and I spoke on air about the Online Jam, "Shoot" and the idea of hopefully playing it on the radio next week. I would love for us to set the new model for others. As mentioned in the comments, a third clue was given out over the airwaves. Go to FreAk's site for the audio clip if you missed it. If you are not in the L.A. area, don't feel left out as we are having so much fun with all this hidden stuff that we plan to incorporate this style in many ways to come. There have been three clues and there will be only one more, just in case you were wondering. All that is left to find out is the name we will be playing under.

As for the New York Vanity Fair show with Camp Freddy, some information can be found here. That should be a killer trip.

1. Have you ever thought of becoming a mental health professional?

No, but I have thought about seeing one!

2. I am curious though-after doing so many live shows and jam sessions-how is your hearing?

"Huh?"

3. Dave will camera's be allowed?

I don't see why not.

4. Anyway I've noticed in some of the posts you've said things along the lines of people have to hit rock bottom before they sort themselves out… Now you never actually seemed to do that, or was it just less public than others?

Oh, yes. A lot of that is covered in the book.

5. Dave, why the Strat instead of the white PRS when you played with Usher?

The sound just suited his track best.

6. Dave, if I'm not mistaken...didn't you have a story on your first website called "L.A. Monster"?? There was a Part 1 and 2 but it was never finished... I remember checking back every week to see if more would get added and then one day, the site changed to black and red, renamed Spread, and all was gone!

It was, "Love in L.A." and those columns are also included in the book, along with a final installment.

7. Hey Dave, What do you think of the band Fishbone?

I love them. Totally under rated back in the day. They are currently on my iPod.

8. HEY DAVE! Im A Huge Fan Today Is My 16th Birthday .... I Was Wondering .. Could You Make It A Little More Special With A Shout Out!

Happy Birthday Cortney!

9. Btw, didn't you & Carmen film some movie cameos at SilverCup a few years ago?? Some movie with Brittany Murphy?

Yeah, we are friends with Brittany and she asked us to come down and do a little appearance in Uptown Girls. If you blink, you will miss us!

10. The reason for this post is that the band I'm in at the moment want to do a "reinterpretation" of LA Song off the above album. We've fleshed the song out to about 10 mins and changed the lyrics a bit. Is that okay with you? Can I send the finished track here somehow?

I'd love to hear it. Go for it.

Dave

Fry Day (hot)

UsherGood morning. So it looks like tomorrow's Camp Freddy radio is in full effect. It'll be me and Billy for two fun filled hours on Indie 103.1 FM. New York ruled. I had to post about it from my sidekick on the comments page:

"What's up everybody? I'm in the car headed to the airport. New York was awesome! The weather was actually really nice, light rain, overcast but not too soggy. I was here playing with Usher for the Fashion Rocks event that will air on September 26th on FOX. I also got the honor of introducing Mary J. Blige doing a Janis Joplin cover. Man, she killed it. Usher was totally cool and humble. A total pro. I was very impressed by his work ethic and his dedication to what he does. The show was mainly a mix of rock and R & B so I felt honored to be a part of it and represent our community and sensibilities. I hope there is a good movie on this flight.

1st Secret Show Clue:

Spanish Castle Magic"

So the game is fun? It seems that we need to make it harder as you all are just too far advanced in the computer world. What I will tell you is that we are not playing under the name, The Panic Channel for this. We want to keep the show under the radar and make it a special thing for the fans only. More will be revealed. I'm off to the gym and rehearsal so I will catch up later. Just wanted to say, "hi" more than anything.

Peace Lovers,

Dave

New York, New York

artbycaitlinSo, today I am going to New York for a couple of days. I will try to check in from the lobby computer at the Hotel. I never really got into the CF show from the other day. I will say that we had a kick ass time and it went great. When I got out to the speedway, I discovered that Camp Freddy was still going to do our radio show from the location. I didn't know about that so I apologize for the false information. After, we had a killer set and were joined by Steve Isaacs for the first time on stage. We did a couple of Who covers. What a blast that was. There is a more detailed blow by blow on the Steve Isaacs site.

1. What are your impressions of Banyan and more specifically NELS CLINE?

I love Banyan and I think Nels is the s@!t. Very creative and different.

2. Dave...I have a running bet with my friends: I say the guitar in this pic is hilarious, and they say it's a travesty.

Although it's not for me, I say it is metal and it rules!

3. Maybe you should call yourselves Camp Fourty instead.

Touche! Very clever. "Camp Forty" would even be funnier.

4. I was wondering Dave wheres your fav place in Europe.??

I don't think Europeans consider it Europe, but I love England. Vienna is amazing too.

5. I'm entering an air guitar competition in a few weeks and I need a song to wield my invisible axe to.

How about Yngwie or Satriani?

6. I would like to know how you addiction to heroine started, what were your thoughts at that time. Did someone offer it to you or did you try it to see what was it like as many people do it to know how it feels.

A friend of mine and I just wanted to check it out. Bad idea. She is no longer with us as a result of the disease. I narrowly escaped myself.

7. Dave, you previously mentioned being a NIN fan, how was it working with Trent and Co. on the Piggy remix?

Easy and fun. As it ought to be.

8. I was just wondering when was the first time you met Steve Isaacs and when we became friends.

Back in 1991. We met at the Video Music Awards.

9. What is that font from Til Death Do Us Part title? some celtic or old german font? do you have exact link where I can get it?

I honestly do not know.

10. What ever happened to the soundtrack you and Chad did for "Ugly meets the People"?

Wow! I hate to repeat myself, but I don't know the answer to that either.

I'll check in from the East Coast...

The Day After Yesterday

tapINTOthePANIC1. Hey Dave, when you get ink, do they do it for free because you're Dave Navarro?

I'll say this, it has happened in the past, but usually, no. When it has happened, I make sure to leave a nice gratuity. After all, it is the art and work of the artist. It is how he or she makes a living.

2. Have you ever thought about doing a CD or writing a book with Carmen?

We have thought about it. What I would really like to do is direct her in a short film of our own script. We want to do something very dark and Un-Carmen. Who knows? One day perhaps.

3. Have a great weekend. Any idea how/when the NASCAR event will be televised?

I'm sure the race will be, but I don't think the band was filmed.

4. I hear you're a fan of the office. Have you ever thought of covering "free love freeway"?

I don't think we would do it justice. Nobody can do Brent's material but Brent.

5. What made you choose to be so public with your life?

I don't know. I guess I really didn't until I had something positive to say or show, such as our wedding or my experiences with drugs and how they almost destroyed my life. I guess I just want to be one of the people who say, "Look. Life is hard, drugs are hard, loss is hard, but you can still find love, happiness and freedom." Sharing a message of hope. That's the idea. Sure I face criticism, but if I can help anyone, it's worth it. I know I don't have all the answers. Sometimes I'm not so sure I have any, but I do know that I have never been happier and ultimately, that is what I wish to convey. I believe that one can't keep what he doesn't give back.

6. I was wondering if you're familiar with Flea's Silverlake Conservatory of Music music school and if he's ever asked you to come in and give a few lessons to the students?

I know it. He has never asked, but that is a great example of what I was talking about above. "One can't keep what he doesn't give back" You go Flea!

7. Have you ever suffered an addiction to narcotic painkillers at any point and time or only heroin? And if so, how difficult was it for you to wean yourself off? What was it like detoxing from heroin?

Never pain killers but I hear that the detox is a lot like heroin. In some cases worse. What was it like? Brutal, painful, physically and emotionally wrenching and the best thing I ever did. If you have a pain killer issue, I would waste no time and start dealing with it. It's ironic, but an addiction to pain killers actually brings about more pain. (Of course, I am not talking about doctor prescribed instances where does and intake are monitored for a specific condition. I'm talking "recreation" here.)

8. Dave what is your little dog's name? I forget, but I thought he or she was very cute on TDDUP! Was that a dog that you or Carmen had before you met, or did you get the dog after you were together?

Daisy. We got her together. She was a Valentine's Day gift from me to Carmen.

9. How would you feel about of re-mixes of your solo material? I would like to take a crack at it and will be happy to send you any finished tracks via the Panic Agency for your approval.

I would love it! Please go for it and send it to me.

10. I have a question is it true Carmen is gonna be in a movie with a SUM41 guy.

Yeah. It's a Jenny McCarthy movie called "Dirty Love". It's going to be really funny.

Thank you ...

Dave

CF/NASCAR

panicchannelHello friends. Today, there will be no Camp Freddy Radio, as we are headed out to NASCAR to do a gig. I think that the station is going to repeat a broadcast from a while ago. Hopefully, I can get some video up from the day's event.

1. Dave, now that you are drug free, how is it hanging around with people that are still using?

Well, most stuff doesn't bother me, like drinking or smoking, but if a needle ever came out, I would definitely remove myself from wherever I was.

2. Dave... Do you have a favorite brand of guitar picks and/or strings?

Not really. In fact, I know I use 9's and medium picks, but I have no idea what kind.

3. Dave, do you use MAC for recording, like studio, what are the program do you run in this machine?

I don't use any audio software at home, but in the studio, we are all about the MAC.

4. Do you ever come up with a riff and decide "this is specifically for my solo project" or "this is for the band"?

No, I just focus on what is at hand. Right now, everything I come up with is Panic material.

5. Do you keep fish? Or any other aquatic animal?

We ain't got no fish!

6. I noticed you have marked the "She Won't Last" clip as copyrighted. What's the difference (legally, I guess?) between it and the other videos/music you have posted?

No difference, they are all copyrighted. I just forgot!

7. Will you be hitting any clubs after your set? Need any suggestions?

I don't think so, but thank you anyway.

8. When you write lyrics for a song do you write about a specific event/topic, or do you write down poetry that eventually turns into a song?

For me, lyrics come while writing the music.

9. Does Carmen support all of your tattoos, or when you show her something new does se every give you the “another one?!? speech?

She loves them. She is in full support.

10. Hey Dave, I was just wondering if Camp Freddy was gonna work with some DJs like Mix Master Mike, DJ Lethal, or the X-ecutioners?

I would love that and have suggested it, but I think the majority of the guys want to keep it "straight rock".

I'm out...

046Thanx to Abby for the SEXY picture!

1. What was different about Carmen and the other girls that make you open your heart to her?

I don't know, really. I guess when it's the one, you know.

2. Dave, I was just wondering did you have any input on the videos for Rexall or Hungry or did somebody just pitch an idea to you.

They were both submitted ideas. Personally, I like the Hungry video.

3. Will you be doing the rounds of late night talk shows when your book comes out?

There has been talk of that, but as of now, I'm just doing signings and print. I think there is a Stern and a Carson appearance booked. Not certain though.

4. Do you think that Carmen Elektra is or will be a good mother for your child? Will your child be proud of what she did in her life?

Yes, I do. I am very proud of her.

5. Dave, I'm stuck in a rut! How do you make time for Carmen when your schedule is full, I mean I LOVE my girl but I go to school part time, work full-time, I have a band, I need to study, plus I need time to be alone to jus chill out. What is your secret?

What works for us is the fact that we both have so much going on, that we get time apart and together in quality doses. The secret, I suppose, is having direction within each of our lives.

6. Great pic w/ DLR, I love the guy but does anyone else here think his part time EMT job has to do with HMMM..... Drugs???

Actually, he is more together than I have ever seen him. I think he has really changed in a healthy and positive way.

7. Dave have you ever done a PSA on drug abuse? Or thought of doing any public speaking on the subject?

No, but the proceeds from my book go to M.A.P. The Musician's Assistance Program.

8. I bought Donovan's Sutras because I read you played on it. In the liner notes, you are credited with playing keyboards. No guitar! Fascinating.

I actually played guitar, keyboards and sang on a few songs as back-up.

9. I was just wondering if it makes you uncomfortable to watch Carmen in certain movies, such as Scary Movie when she runs through the sprinklers and gets stabbed?

No way. I absolutely love it!

10. I'm getting a Gretsch White Falcon and was wondering if you'd noodled with them before and your thoughts in general on the guitar.

I'm not familiar with it, but if it speaks to you, have at it man!

Goodnight,

Dave

Dave & Dave: Miami Style

dlrdmn1. I have always wondered this... at home do you call Carmen "Carmen" at home or do you call her "Tara"? If Tara... can you explain why you got "CE" on your chest?

I call her Carmen. The CE is for Carmen Electra.

2. I like the new ink. Very nice script. Do you always have a special type of script in mind or do you let the tattoo guys make some suggestions and then you decide?

I give a description and then let the artist take it from there. After all, he IS an "artist".

3. I'm hoping you'll be doing some book signings.

I am. As soon as I get the schedule, I will post it.

4. Hey Dave, do you wear Cavalli jeans?

I think I have a pair around here somewhere.

5. id to ask anyway who came up with the "tea spoon of olive oil" joke in your 97' rhcp master sessions video.

That was all me, my friend.

6. do you dye your own hair or have someone else do it for you?

I haven't dyed it in years, but when I do, I have someone else do it. I think I would suck at that.

7. He said that your driver "hit a guy" and Carmen told him to keep driving, but you made him stop. Is that really true?

No, that is not true, she just wanted to get away from the squeegee guy.

8. Anyway, my question is, considering the amount of ink you have done, do you regret any of them, or wish you had designed something differently?

No, I just look at them all as experiences, unique and memorable.

9. Do you usually wear cologne or do you go 'natural'?

Once in a while, I am not really a cologne guy.

10. Have you decided which songs are going to be on the EP yet?

No, right now it is just in the "idea" phase.

Peace,

DN

Ink/10

miamiholly013_copyHere is the new ink done by Thomas at Hart and Hunington Tattoo in the Palms Casino. Really great work. He is awesome!

1. Are you or any of the camp freddy guys gonna be a part of the ramones anniversary show at the avalon?

I know I am not, but I'm not sure if anyone else is. I know Flea and John are supposed to be there.

2. I get upset and contemplate suicide. All this brings my confidence down and I dont know what to do. Help?

Honestly, therapy is the best suggestion I can make. It has helped me a great deal.

3. I saw Carmen doing a blockbuster commercial the other day. So, does that mean you guys get free rentals?

No, it doesn't.

4. It's really getting frustrating and it is starting to show within the band's personal relationships. I don't want the band to come to an end because these are some of my best friends, but they seem to be directing all their negativity towards me and stifling my creativity.

Try to focus on solution instead of the problems. Sometimes that works.

5. Is it true Eric Avery writes music for and plays in Alanis Morissette's band???

Yes, it is.

6. Anyway, I remember reading that you never liked the songs Walkabout, Tearjerker, and One Hot Minute. What was about them that you didn't like?

I don't know what my problem was. I love those songs now.

7. When you (solo or with a band) write music, does it usually come from a jam session; naturally and unexpected, or is it that you just decide to write a song?

More often it is from a jam, but sometimes someone will have a specific idea. We go with whatever works at the time. Since people don't always feel the same way, we never write the same way.

8. Just curious have you and the band decided on who is going to produce your new record?

We have decided to do a 6 song EP instead of a full record in order to get it out sooner. We have not yet selected a date or a producer.

9. How do you put up with these pricks without trading back the negative energy their giving you?

I just pray for them. I don't need to walk around resentful. It's not worth it.

10. As a musician and a guitarist do you get frustrated or motivated when you hear music such as Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon or Radiohead's OK computer?

Motivated. Always motivated.

Peace,

DN

Online Jam/Agency Artwork 3

panic_eyeThere is a new development with the online jam. FreAk has done some amazing work on the Saraswati loop. Check it out on the Loop Experiment page. It is free for tweaking. Already, it is a new creation from the minds of once strangers living in different parts of the world. Great going people.
Also, the Ageny Artwork 3 page is loaded. The creativity here is mind blowing. Thank you all for your work and support.
