Happy Birthday Perk!
Today is Stephen Perkins' Birthday! Happy Birthday Perk!!!!
1. It seems that you tend to keep your tattoos on your arms and, for the most part, off your chest/stomach (with a couple exceptions). Is there any reason in particular for that?
No reason, really. I'm getting there.
2. Would you say that your use to the pain of getting tattoos, or does it not even bother you now?
No, they still hurt, for sure.
3. Dave, what do you think about Melissa Auf der Maur as person?
I consider her a friend, an awesome person and musician. She has rocked with Camp Freddy. She did a killer Sabbath tune with us.
4. I'm confused. On your wedding on TTDUP you played Ballroom Blitz, And I’m confused because I don’t see any evidence of you playing that like on a Cd or anything.
That was Camp Freddy. The song in question will appear on our album, currently in the works.
5. I'm thinking about getting your name tattooed on my left wrist as sort of a thank you for inspiring me to pick up the guitar and as a reminder to always work hard at it and try to play as cool and creatively as you do. Would you approve of this idea, or should I seek help??
I say do whatever makes you happy. Would I approve? Of course. I am honored.
6. Dave, I've heard that the episode of Punk'd with you and Carmen was never shown, and have only heard rumors of why that was. Is that true, and if so, what happened?
No, it has been on quite a few times. I don't really know why it was pulled for so long. Legal stuff I think.
7. Dave, if you'd have to play a gig with just one additional effect, what would it be (also the make!) and why?
My Cry Baby. Why? I love it.
8. Is there anyway I could get backstage passes to come say hi?
Well, the club we are playing doesn't really have a backstage.
9. What is the measure of success for TPC? Is it- play what makes you happy and if people like it, then great? Something else?
You got it. The only expectation we have is to have fun and be creative with our lives.
10. I think September 13th is Steven Perkins bday, am I wrong?
You are so right!
Be well,
DN

I visit this website all the time. I've never taken the time to write something but I think today is the day. I just want to say I love this place and all the things that go on here. It's nice to see a website where there is so much interaction with Dave and all the people that write in everyday. I am looking forward to writing in more frequently and keeping in touch with all of you.

Hello Dave,
How is everyone today? If I may be so rude, I'd like to pose a question.
Was there a particular reason why Suffer Some wasn't used on Kettle Whistle instead of So What seeing as the band weren't overly enthralled by the latter, or so I'm led to believe, and in Suffer Some you had a pretty much completed song already written?
Sorry to keep rambling on about JA but you/they were the 1st band I really got into and to this day remain my favourite. Hopefully i a years time my viewpoint will change and I'll begin posting some really anal questions about Panic instead! Now get back to practicing for this gig!
Canine.

P.S. DAVE, I beg you please answer my question. What does the "Relaps" star mean. I love you sexy thing. Thanks for making me feel good when I am down. You inspire me to learn how to play guitar. But don't know how to start. Any suggestions. Love, and Peace to all.

Dave - A simple comment and question to you; I beleive it was about 3 years ago you put on a show here in Florida , I think it was in Clearwater , My question is, was it Clearwater and will you be coming back anytime soon? Please, let me know. -Shawna

Happy B-Day to Perk! Along with Chad Smith he's definitely one of the best drummers out there today. Can't wait for to see TPC this month. I think I've got it figured out so far but I'm waiting, as I'm sure we all are, anxiously for that final clue. ;^)
Seeing TPC's first gig will be a big one in my list of cool things I do while I'm living in LA.

Since it's Stephen's birthday, you could stop by his website, and say Happy Birthday! I just did! Reckless Princess beat me to it though! :D
We both pleaded with him to come to the UK too.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN!
There's going to be a Camp Freddy Album then?

Happy Birthday to Steven Perkins, I love it when I am right, it happens so seldom!
So, now Steve and Michael are birthday buddies, I think Hallmark makes a card for that!
off I go to the website to wish him well,

Dave,
I don't know if I'm better off asking you or the birthday boy about this! I've read in the past about something known as the "Sunshine Demos" which JA were reported to have recorded circa 1988/89 and I don't know whether they're real or just a myth. So, presuming they exist what exactly were the "Sunshine Demos"? Were they fully realized unreleased songs or just ideas for songs which JA had with respect to putting them on what would become Ritual? Out of everything I've seen on this site and heard about JA in the past, this is the one question I haven't known to be addressed and therefore I would love if you could even just dispel the rumour that they exist or existed.
Have a great day everyone.

Dave... you lie!
Irving Plaza does have a back stage. My bf played there last New Years + there are two backstage areas. One is directly across from the stage... its a very small little room where we were. And the other one is up the stairs. There is even a tiny tiny little bathroom that is sort of next to the stage. And you do need a pass to get back there because even for his show there was a bouncer guarding the door, checking passes. I still have the VIP pass, which would give me total access to both backstage areas, so I was thinking about just changing the date on it and seeing if that would work, but then I decided that it too dishonest, and it would be better to simpley ask you and if you said no, then obviously I would be unwelcome and would not want to intrude, and if you said yes, then I wouldn't need to fake the pass. So I'll ask again, is there anyway I could get a backstage pass? I'll compleatley understand you not wanting that and saying no, just please don't tell me something that I know is not true to get out of it and don't worry, I won't try to sneek in with the pass I have if you say no. That would be a little too psychotic. So please just let me know + if not, have a great show + I'll see you from the crowd!! Thanks...

hey dave. i play guitar for a band in LA, and my band was recently offered a contract by WB. i took the opportunity, and treated myself to a brand new guitar navarro style. PRS Custom 24 10 top whale blue. so my main question is, since im new to PRSs, im having some trouble finding a good sound setting for it. i would love if you could tell me what settings or mods or anythings you have had done on your PRSs. mainly you white one. also, have you heard about the love and rockets reunion tour? rumors had it that you were playing with them. that would be amazing. much love, VIF

Irving Plaza is such a small venue, there's probably a good chance that Dave & the guys might actually come out & mingle with the crowd. >>Hint....Hint<<<
That has been my experience attending benefit events over the years, the performers usually hang with the crowd after their performance.
A few years ago, I attended a fantastic benefit gig at St. Ann's church in Brooklyn. Concerts used to be held in this awesome Gothic church, unfortunately the concerts stopped around 3 years ago. The British guitarist Richard Thompson, not to mention many popular bands, did a number of benefit concerts at St. Ann's over the years....each time the performer attended the after party & met up with the fans. Or they just came out after the show to hang.
That's something to ask Dave about, coming out into the club after the IP show.
Even if Dave wanted to, I don't think he could accomodate every person who wanted to get backstage, not with those small dressing rooms & 'backstage' areas in the IP venue.
Btw, changing info on a pass doesn't work. Most venues change colors, dates etc because they know people would attempt to change them & use them for another gig. Some venues print the bands name & actual performance date on the individual passes, so it's impossible to change.
After 9/11 EVERYTHING has changed in NYC (and the world), even a simple thing such as attending a concert has turned into a search mission from the security people!
I went to a gig at Irving Plaza in June, they checked everyone using metal detectors, the search was rather annoying....short of a body cavity search, they even checked peoples jacket pockets!

Tex - RE: your previous post to Billmcd about his pics:
the crowd at the NASCAR Camp Freddy show is so small because, frankly, no one KNEW they were playing. plus, the crowd is only made up of the people who are camping out in the infield of the racetrack for the weekend (you had to have a $45 wristband to get in). it's like a small town from thursday to sunday (for a more detailed description, go to steve isaacs site and look at the post "fontana was hot"). when i first arrived there on friday night, my brother told me he heard that dave was gonna be there and also someone from guns n roses, but honestly, i didn't believe him at first. it just didn't sound right... after the show, when we all went back to our campsites, i was amazed at how many people there were that didn't know who was playing and didn't even bother to go over to the stage (and since they only played for an hour, by the time it DID get back to those at the campsites, it was over). usually, every year there's a concert, but it's not real big bands... one year it was Blue Oyster Cult, and last year it was Live. also, they usually set up the speakers so that they face the "city" but this time, the speakers faced out, toward the grandstands, so from the campsites, you couldn't even hear the music. so, needless to say, those of us who did go down to where the stage was got the one of best, most intimate shows ever!

Dave,
It was awesome talking to you. Hope I didn't sound like a complete idiot on the phone... I was just shocked that I got through. I had probally called 80 times or so by then. I had a bite of food in my mouth and everything.
I can't thank you enough for taking the time for all that you do for us. I am planning on taking a trip up to Canada to visit Bruce (another poster here and longtime friend) and I think we'll end up getting some ink... definatly going to have to be Spread / DN related.
Hope you guys can do some dates outside of CA sometime soon.
Much Love as Always,

Oh 6767'ers... please check out www.completedisarray.com they are some very cool forums we have set up. I even made one for "family". Please come and visit.

For all you peeps who are bummed cause you're in the UK or out of state and can't see the show...I'm right here in Central Cali and can't see the show either...I feel your pain! LA is just too far from Fresno for me to get off work, head South, see the show and head back North in time for work the next am (although I am sorely tempted to try it!)
I, unfortunatley, can't take one day off work without taking a whole week....stupid rule! :p
Also...just a word to those who like to come in from time to time and ask Dave for "favors" like phone calls, autographs, backstage passes, etc....these requests are very unfair and, I would imagine, really put Dave on the spot. He has been so open and giving with us all, if he granted one person one of these small "favors" just imagine the backlash he would get from all the others who want favors. It would really have a snowball effect.
I am certainly not bashing any of you who have asked for favors, I really do understand...just maybe asking you to consider your requests from Dave's perspective. He has been very, very generous with his time and for that, I for one, am very grateful.
Have a nice evening, Family.

Dave- Hello, I hope all is well. I am planing on trying to make the show as soon as I can get off from my Social Work gig here in San Diego. I was curious if you could give everybody a fair "heads up" prior to the show, because it's a nighmare to get up to LA on the 5 especially at night if there's an accident. Just wanted to ask becuase I am sure there are other fans who will be traveling from far away distances as well. Thanks, and Take care!

So pretty, pretty please, I'd super appreciate it if someone could e-mail me if you find out. I won't be returning to LA until Monday night (the 20th) but I will check my e-mail in San Fran.
Oh, and Dave I just wanted to say thanks becuase the 21st is me and my boyfriends 7 year anniversary together. What better present could we ask for? :)

Do I remember reading that there was going to be an A&E Biography on our tatooed mentor? Anybody know when?
Also, anyone who gets to either of these shows please give those of us who can't be there very lengthy blow by blow desriptions.
As for me I'm getting ready for Ivan, even if we're only expecting a lot of wind and rain. I just hope we are not out of power again.

So thank you for doing this... Having a journal and whatnot where people are free to ask questions ;D I had a question actually... When you and Carmen gonna start with the babies? Yeah, I agree with everyone about the heads up. If the secret show is where I think it's going to be I might have to leave work early to get there on time.
Since we might be guessing totally wrong on the clues, an email out to us all the day or night before the secret show stating the secret name, date, place, and time to confirm would be great.
Will we have to say the secret name you're playing under in order to get in to the show or something? Or is it going to be open and anyone that goes by and wants to come in can?
I know there's a bunch of people that don't live in LA or NY feeling left out of this whole thing, but remember that there will be more shows all over the place in the future and the people attending the shows occuring this month and next won't be able to attend a show that you will be able to in 5 months or next year. Everyone I'm quite sure will have a chance to see The Panic Channel somewhere sometime in the future.
Don't forget Dave will most probably be doing book signings very soon, too!
I hope everyone that's going to the NY show has an excellent time! Can't wait for the reviews!
