9/21/04 Panic Day

• 10:00 Arrive to work and check e-mail. Woohoo I got two e-mails from TPC
• 1:00 go to purchase a camera for tonight. Only have two hundred dollars cash. After a few recommendations from my boss I settle on a Kodak with 5pxls picture resolution and a small zoom lens. Went 100 dollars over my budget. Rrrr (come to think of it didn’t pay my bills or buy my Rosecea meds. Who needs good skin and good credit when you got a handy dandy camera for tonight?)
• 2:20 finally get back to work. I went twenty minutes over my lunch hour but my boss is supportive and doesn’t give me a hard time. Just a few more hours.
• 4:20 ish I call my friend Evonne a.k.a major flaker but she doesn’t call back. My old student worker Karina stops by the office and wants to join me tonight. Woohoo I don’t have to go alone
• 6:40 ish I leave an hour early from work and head home to clean up a little.
• 7:00 Damn there was a lot of traffic going home. Finally get there and there is major drama going on. Do my best to avoid eye contact and not get sucked in.
• 8:10 ok nothing fits my fat ass, end up wearing an old blue shirt and head off to Bell
• 8:39 Dang she lives far; maybe I should have gone alone. No worries we are still relatively early. Since we are both pretty broke we opt to stop by a liquor store and get some Malibu rum and Sobe
• 9:10ish Finally find the Dragonfly. Huh, I actually been here before on one of my drunken stupors. It’s all coming back. We couldn’t find parking so we had to ballet the car. On the upside we had no trouble getting in with our “sobes Thanks Steve I.
• 9:15? See Annie right away. She’s as much of a concert enthusiast as me. We met at the VR’s gig at Roxy on May 9th. It’s good to see someone familiar. The place doesn’t look too packed. I get another beer with my last 5 dollars and feel bad that I couldn’t tip her.
• A few minutes later talk to a guy that met Steve while Camp Freddy was rehearsing for the Nascar gig. He gave Steve his demo and wanted to get some feedback. I told him to e-mail me so I could check out his band. All of them were really friendly they even told me that if I needed a different angle they would give me the room.
• 10:20 ish Ok, now that I have a good buzz going and all is well I’m starting to get really excited. We are about to see history in the making.

• 10? It’s Panic time. Didn’t even see the guys coming. Where did everyone come from? The place is packed. Try to get a few pictures but notice that my handy dandy camera isn’t so handy or dandy. So far I like what I hear and see. I try to relocate to get a different angle but the security reminds me that there are no cameras allowed. Go back to my spot and immediately try to sneak by again. I get to Dave’s side but security is even tighter. The guy spots me and tells me that if he sees me take another picture he’ll take my camera away. I didn’t even get one good shot. Rrr So I go back to my old spot.
http://images.ofoto.com/photos800/4/30/60/22/52/0/52226030406_0_ALB.jpg
• Quite a few guitar riffs really stood out in a good way. I’m trying to soak everything in and capture it at the same time without getting caught. I realize that this isn’t the camera for me; it really doesn’t have all the qualities I was looking for in a camera. I think I’ll take it back and upgrade to a better one on payday (This reminds me a bit of Steve’s amp situation). I wish I could remember more about the music but it all went to fast. All I know is that so far I like what I hear. Annie said that Half Harted was a song that she envisions getting a lot of airplay.

• I guess time fly’s when your having fun. It all went by too fast I managed to get a quick picture of Dave as he was walking off the stage.
http://images.ofoto.com/photos800/4/30/40/78/49/0/49784030406_0_ALB.jpg
http://images.ofoto.com/photos800/4/30/40/78/58/0/58784030406_0_ALB.jpg
• New mission in mind. We are trying to get backstage and congratulate the guys but security is good. By the way if anyone was looking to hire a security guy I would highly recommend him; he was nice, friendly and firm.
http://images.ofoto.com/photos800/4/20/49/91/55/0/55914920406_0_ALB.jpg
• We stand there for a while and talk to an older gentleman that came to see Steve. It seems that he’s seen Steve I. grow up and flew all the way from Washington to catch the show. (on a side note the only two people I talked too were here for Steve. I’ve never met him in person but I could tell he’s one heck of a guy)
• Steve is the first one to come out and meet and greet. I take a few pictures of him and one of him and his friend from Washington.
http://images.ofoto.com/photos800/4/20/49/91/25/0/25914920406_0_ALB.jpg
http://images.ofoto.com/photos800/4/20/49/23/89/0/89234920406_0_ALB.jpg
• Dave comes out next. I make sure to tell him who I am, he asks if I talked to anyone else from here (6767) but I told him I got here late and didn’t really meet anyone else besides Annie. He’s extremely friendly. I take a few pictures of him, Karina and Annie. They suggest for me to take one with him. So Karina try’s to take the picture but he’s not in it. I felt really bad about hogging him up and asking him to take another picture so Karina ask’s him again. Anyhow the second picture she takes is better but his face is still half cut out. I decide to keep it and give up and I also realize that the Sobe and Beer really made breath go astray. Sorry everyone.

• Next we go back to Steve I. to get some more pictures with him. He’s such a nice guy. I wasn’t really a good conversationalist but Karina asks him about the eyeliner. It looks good. Anyhow we didn’t want to hog him too so we leave him alone. By this time I have to go to the ladies room again, when I come back I see Karina talking to him. She told me she was asking him about his shirt, something about him wearing a girl’s shirt underneath. Anyhow she didn’t get his name right so she was calling him speedy and Steve being the nice guy didn’t correct her. After hearing this I feel a little embarrassed. I should have given her the proper run down on who everyone was. Oh well not much I could do about it.
http://images.ofoto.com/photos800/4/20/19/29/19/0/19291920406_0_ALB.jpg
• At this time we looked for the rest of band members but didn’t see them. We picked up a few of the TPC stickers and took some more pictures and decided to call it a night.

• Well it was barely 12 something and we were wired so we ended up going to a few bars but that’s a whole different adventure.
You can view the whole album here: http://www.ofoto.com/AlbumMenu.jsp?rand=452904545&
By the way I feel really bad I accidentally deleted a few good shots.
Thank you for the awesome show. I can’t wait to see you guys again and sorry for the long post.

Dave...that was an awesome interview!! I really like that you put a lot of though into the release of it, because I agree that in "the industry" the drug life is often glamorized...whether or not its intentional...I can't wait to get it!

Wendy...the ones on Steve's site worked, so I tried the "cut and paste" method on these ones and they work! :)

I think once you log in once the cookies will help see he above links (thats if you want to follow the sequence) I have 11 credits. Please do not use them or mess with my account info. I'm a trusting person. After a few days I'll change the password and try to move them to a different more user friendly site.

Hey Wendy (as well as anyone else who needs it). Not sure if you've been following the project that Whitepony and I have been working on, but one feature I've just added is a user photo gallery. If you need a free place to post those pics feel free to go to http://completedisarray.com/photos/index.php and stick whatever you want to there. You guys get to see this before Pony even does:)
And by the way Dave, I wish I could have caught the show. But being all the way in New Hampshire... well you know. I love you dude, but I have my limits:) It's ok, you and Carm can come over here for bbq steaks in the snow anytime!
Posted by: Zombee at September 22, 2004 10:08 PM
k, I'll try that tomorrow. I'm a bit tired must go home now. Goodnight everyone.
PS sorry about the links I hope that the password stuff helped. It was my first time using that website and I didn't bother to read all the info. Like a dumb-ass I previewed the pictures here but didn't think about the embedded cookies which allowed me to see them without problems.

Wendy, you
little punk, you better stop this nonsense
(CPS reference, name that guy!)
Ok, first...don't say you couldn't get a shot because of security, or because you didn't get an angle, becaue Dave took his shirt off after the second, third song tops
Second. Cassandra and Abby, I am ashamed of you!! DID we NOT get the first set list pic before the guy came to take cam away?
Thirdly, Wendy, why didn't you introduce, I am hurt
more that Maria didn't, but I think I know who she was...hi honey!!
Fourthly, to all international fans who live in places I would like to travel one day...hoping we can share a pint or whatever..
I have pics of Stephen, I have pics of STEVE, I have pics of CHRIS...good lord, I think I have all of 6 of Dave...do not underestimate power of disposable camera from WALMART!!
I'm just going through my own stuff right now ( feel like quoting lyrics from BECK)\
DAVE!!!!
Isn't Camp Freddy show on Saturday? Are you going to do radio show?
Posted by: jezebel at September 22, 2004 10:44 PM
Thanks again Wendy. It worked. You've got some great pics there. Nice to see the stickers next to the beer bottles, and pics of all of you with Dave, Steve, and outside the Dragonfly, Perky and Chris, Dave, Steve, Dave and Steve together...very nice.
What I don't get is why security was stopping you taking pics? But I guess flash going off when you're playing can be very distracting. Other than then, I can't see the big deal. I also thought it was a cameras are okay show?
Dave~I saw you posing for the camera while you were on stage in those pics! lol. :D
Love and hugs

I shall be reading it a few times. I am sure , I'll be referring back to it too at times, it made me go, "yes, yes!" and there were things you said that were so poignant.

Good morning All,
Great, honest interview, Dave. I enjoyed reading it and I anxiously await to read the book. -bjs
Posted by: Brad at September 23, 2004 03:51 AM
Dave, What a great interview. I'm glad you pointed out the danger of glamorization. You're 100% correct, it's quite the opposite, sad, to rehash war stories. Even with non-celebs, the retelling of bridge sleepings and being up for 4 days, etc, etc, can have a devastating effect on relapse during recovery. One's mind wants to revisit the past, to feel sorry for oneself again. It's all such bullshit, the mind games one can allow to play on yourself. Thank you very much for the candor. It's much appreciated, and, as you know, you'll never know the full effect your sobriety has on others, the people you inspire, but I know this, it'll come back to you in karma. Peace, Love, and Godspeed with PC.

dave, your book, its gonna be erited in argentina, or in spanish??
Posted by: Francisco at September 23, 2004 05:10 AM
Thank you dave for putting a new site and the whole last decade... In a way you were the big brother what i never had ,when I was teenager.I first saw you in 1996 live in Turku, Finland with chilis, where I was living by that time.
I was a very lonely guy who didn´t have no friends because nobody understood me. By that time I played guitar 10 hours a day and violin in conservatory...
I can´t blame you but I also turned into partying (I guess you can say that, even though you I was not having fun, I was just numb...) and I remember saying to myself that, "What´s the problem, little bit of daydream here and there is what musicians do..."
so... Now I am trying to get clean and sober in a age of 25... I just had false perceptions about everything, and I have to admit I even blamed you (among others) for my turns to drugs... I should have looked in to a mirror more deeply. I saw the face but forgot the soul inside... All I have to say is to thank you for all the music and feelings I´ve got. And I can even listen Jane´s records nowadays without getting fucked up first.
It´s great that you talk about your experiences, like me I´m a musician ( although classical viola player nowadays, but I love it the older I get, I still play guitar too ,though), I can understand that somebody wants to try different things, but some people wanna be the same person from the cradle to the grave, I wish I could ...or maybe not? so ... Thank you for giving me strength in the times of solitude and teenage angst. I just have to say that media is corrupted for printing things in a sense that when I was teenager I read that doing drugs is great... I didn´t or don´t think it´s great but it was somehow spiritual for me like being part of something bigger... All the love and keep on writing good music... ( hope there isn´t too many mistakes ´cause I´m finnish and now I´m finished..) TTM

hey great interview.
dave ive been trying to apply that speak positvely about people or not at all "trait" to my personality but i was wondering do you do that as well when speaking of movies or objects like stupid products that are advertised?

Thanx Wendy for the great pictures!!!! I have to say I luv the pic where (sorry papi) Dave looks cross eyed, with the half smile.....omg that one's funny!! Looked like u's had a blast. Hopefully one day we'll get to meet you also Dave. We're still comtemplating New York!! Peace n' luv to u's

ABBY!!!! Yes you did get that awesome pic of the guitar, wish I knew how to develop said Walmart camera so that we could post them! HELP!! email me, and let me know your snail mail, so I can send them to you!
Tim--The drag about getting sober is that all those memories you tried to suppress by getting loaded, and all the things that you did while loaded, come back full force. I did relapse a few times, but I finally just made a pact with God... I told him I couldn't do it by myself..Plus, I had to suck it up for my son.
You can do it, just don't write a book until you have been sober for a while..
Dave- So how do you feel about supporting book with interviews that are likely to bring up said memories? I admire your strength and courage. Thirteen years later, and I still want to numb the memories..
Posted by: jezebel at September 23, 2004 06:19 AM
hey family,
wow, it is so awesome that you all had a great time at the gig. i love hearing all your stories and im dying to see more pics!
i must say that im alittle jealous that i couldnt meet you all and join up with you, but maybe if i win the lottery i will join you next time!
you know what i have noticed, is that this site has alot of abbreviations. the poor newcomers must be sooo confused, so i will now explain abbreviations for all, lol...
DN - Dave Navarro (The Man)
TNO - Trust No One (The Album)
TPC - The Panic Channel (the New Band)
DTTAH - Dont Try This At Home (The Book)
TDDUP - Till Death Do Us Part (The Series)
JA - Janes Addiction (The Old Band)
RHCP - Red Hot Chili Peppers(The Other Band
CFR - Camp Freddy Radio (The Radio Station
...lol
i hope that clears things up, lol
i have handed my vocals for the online song to FreAk, i await his editing and mixing. i cant wait!
i love you all
kyle
dont do anything i wouldnt do.and if you do then name it after me!

Here's a thought...all agents *myself included*, should be required to get the TPC logo tattooed on themselves somewhere. Doesn't matter where. Doesn't matter how big or small...but just as a mean's of commitment and even identification purposes...hahaha...that would be a trip though...def know I'm getting one on the topside of my left forearm though... btw, in the image for this post, anyone know who that is with the TPC logo on their upper bicep?

It would seem that your fans enjoyed the anticipation and the excitment of seeing their idol play original music again, but no-one seems to think that you were that great.Competent, yes, but aside from the hype there is little indication of a visionary, ground breaking, fresh band.Do you think that your music will become great, after you give yourselves a little time to mature, or are you not fussed about surpassing your previous work because this is more fun and less difficult? Can you remain content being mearly ok?

Molly,Molly,Molly,,,
why such a hater? At least your posts are not as vindictive as they started out back in the day.
I didn't expect to see the second coming on Tuesday, I don't think the Beatles, or Zep, or even Elvis had earth shattering first performances.
I think TPC made it crystal that they were coming into this with no expectations other than to get to the organic joy of playing music .
As far as being 'great', what truly makes a great band, in my own opinion, is purely personal. The music of TPC has its own resonance for me, but I could not even pretend to suppose that it affects another person in the same way. A person's response to music is very personal..
Sorry molly, I really should just let it go, but I just think your posts are so passive-aggressive hostile...

I'll be around at the next LA Panic Channel shows though, I'm sure we'll see each other. Not to mention Dave's book signing! We should get together for that, too.

Hi Dave,
Nice to read your very inspiring interview re: 'Don't Try This At Home'. You actually had a real message to pass on to your fans other than the expected "Buy my book," promo drivel celebs usually say when promoting their books. I can't wait to FINALLY read it. So when is the NYC book signing?? ;)
Also...THANKS SO MUCH for using another one of my PC designs for todays weblog header. I'm so glad that particular one didn't get lost in the shuffle because I had a really great time doing it.
Thanks again~~!
Hi Wendy,
You didn't have to post your private passwords just so we could see The Panic Channel photos, that was so INCREDIBLE & DECENT of you! THANKS! So glad you had a great time at the gig.
Btw, you bought a digital camera, corrrect? I know how confusing it is trying to figure out what model to buy, I have an entire catalog of just digital cameras & digital equipment, it's almost the size of a thin phonebook! I used to be a concert photographer, I still shoot shows now & then. I need to upgrade to digital myself, the choices are so confusing. I can't see rushing into buying one yet. The Nikon digital I wanted was $1,000 for the body alone! That is just ridiculous, as I don't shoot concerts as often these days, there is no need to buy such a high end camera.
As for gigs where you need to 'sneak' in a camera, I've actually had luck with a simple Olympus Infinity Zoom 'point & shoot' camera with a 30-80 zoom lens. It's not being made anymore, it's been replaced by a much better model. I'm sure Olympus also have that type in a digital too.
Of course, I've used regular 35mm cameras & film (negatives & slides) over the years I shot concerts, I was very satisfied. Today no one wants to wait for film to be developed anymore, people want things immediately! lol
Sorry, if I seem to be of no help in recommending a digital! A photographer friend sent me a list of 'moderately' priced digital cameras which I've misplaced, tho I DO remember the list included Nikon, Olympus & Minolta digitals from under the $1,000 range. The cameras were between $350.00-$650.00. Some even had interchangeble lenses & features to add another flash unit.
Good Luck getting another camera which suits your needs. The only advice I CAN give you Wendy is; the most important part in choosing ANY camera, is the type of photos you are mostly using it for.
I don't know if you are familar with the celebrity photographer Patrick McMullan, he shoots most of his celebrity events with a sort of 'point & shoot' camera! He's been doing this for over 25 years & makes a great living at it. His shots are crystal clear & well lit, so there are high quality 'point & shoots' out there.
Thanks again for the link! The photos were very good considering the circumstances, concerts are NEVER easy to photograph....and YES, I thought it was posted here that the fans would be able to photograph the PC gig? So why the heavy security vibe?? I could understand trying to keep people from jumping onstage, but we are just talking about a handful of die-hard fans shooting a few photos. It's not as if they are going to try to sell them to a magazine.
Take care,
itanja

Good digital cameras, and I am planning on buying one for my birthday, so I've been researching this.
Nikon Coolpix, any Nikon Coolpix is highly recommended, get the best you can afford. The most expensive one in the range is the best, but I can't afford it.
I'm going for this: Nikon Coolpix 3200 3.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
Get Optical zoom.
Wedding photographers, professional photographers use these cams.
I have loads of cameras too, and I do still use my Canon 35mm. I love it still as well.
I love the noise it makes, and the feel of it when it takes a photo.
Kodak doesn't have a good reputation for it's digital cameras, but I know people who aren't professionals said they're okay with their Kodak. I'd go with what professionals prefer myself though! :)

Hi Cori & Adam,
Thanks for enjoying today's design, I did it. The photos of Dave were taken by the awesome Justice Howard.
Adam asked about the PC tat on the womans bicep... the model doesn't really have the PC logo tattooed on her arm, that's just a photo I added to the layout. I had that shot in my archives & frankly, I don't even remember who she is! I just scanned it in & used it in the layout because I thought it fit so well into my idea.
I did all the effects in Photoshop, including adding the PC tat to her arm, as well as adding the words 'Manic Panic' to her face covering.
Take care,

Posted by: bluelizard at September 23, 2004 11:42 AM
YES ylais, I do remember my photographer friend mentioning that the Nikon CoolPix was on his BEST list, but this guy has over 100 cameras & unlimited funds! He buys about 5-10 cameras a year!
The last time I spoke to him, he was RAVING about the high end Minolta digital! Some of my best concerts shots were done with an OLD, heavy metal body Minolta manual SLR, so I can vouch for Minoltas old quality, I have no clue if their new cameras are up to scratch.
A few years ago I bought an' old school', mostly manual Nikon because my old one broke & wasn't worth repairing for the third time. Why a manual? I enjoy doing my own exposures. Plus, I had so many old Nikon lenses & equipment, I had no alternative!
Another important factor in choosing a camera is the ease of using it, whether it be a 35mm or digital. The person doesn't need to be confused by buttons and levers, they certainly don't need to move the wrong one during a critical shot.
When a person is shooting a concert there are way too many distracting factors to deal with as far as composition, lighting & what is going on around them in the crowd, one bump from an excited fan & you've lost your shot. In addition to trying to capture the excitement onstage, there is no control over lighting & like sports photography, there is also no control of how & when the subject moves!!
I have learned over the years there are absolutely no cut & dried rules to shooting live perfomances. Many concert photogs avoid the pitfalls by using flash, thus obliterating shadows & adding more sharpness, but a close-up flash going off every few seconds is extremely distracting to the performers.
For me, the best concert photographers work with existing lighting conditions instead of against them. My personal way of shooting live shows has always been to try to make the negative elements into positives. To take the distracting elements and somehow make them a signature style of my concert photography. I also enjoy shooting from the crowd & getting them in the shots, to show the interaction between the musicians & their fans. I always enjoy capturing the fans over-the-top excitement during gigs! I love making the fans part of my concert shots. For me, it simply adds to the vibe of the show, I never find it distracting.
I've had some great photography teachers & have worked with quite a few photogs before becoming a graphic designer. All agree that live performance photography is quite difficult and those that get it right should be applauded!
Just my 2 cents!

Hey all,
First time online in a while! Wow what a week - checked out a band the other day called Lluther here in Dublin. Their singer used to be in a band I liked called Skindive. I have to say that they're the most impressive new band I've heard in a long, long time (obviously I didn't make it to the Dragonfly!). They have a sort of NIN meets Tool kind of vibe - a really heavy yet really lush kind of sound.
Anyhow, the Panic gig sounded like a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing/hearing clips in the download section.

JEZEBEL,
Some camera stores will give you a cd of all your pics when you have them developed. Call around I don't know who exactly dose that but, I know someone dose!! Then all you need to do is load that CD onto your computer and there you have it 38mm film on the computer!

Blanca, Dave is still my second favorite!! Thanks for the comment about "young soul",. I had a terrible day at work on Tuesday, wasn't going to go, had puffy, crying eyes, hair was showing "ITS" age :) But you girls made me feel not so strangely out of place, you are all beautiful, inside and out.. I loved when you called to say you were at the corner, there I was in line, and there you were trying to cross the street, And nobody complained about you jumping in line with us, I think they were amused that I was ready to stop traffic for you!!
Blanca, Sarah, Cassandra, Abby, you made me feel better about myself than I have in a while, the only complaint I have is that damm you shy boys, why didn't you introduce? Brett, you da man!!
Maria...what awesome talent you have, I was so eager to meet you, I hear there is a book signing at Sam Goody Musicland at Universal City Walk the second week in October....LET's ROLL!!!

I recently bought a more updated version, I will give it another go, but be warned, I probably will email you technology experts with stupid questions.

Thanks itanja. My problem was that it was an impulse buy and I only had my lunch hour to go over the cameras. I thought I would be satisfied with a regular digital camera for now but after taking a few years of photography as soon as I tried taking the pictures I realized that I wasn't. My regular camera is a Minolta and it shoots beautiful pictures but it's broken right now and I didn't have time to get it fixed. And being a virgin with digital equipment I was totally lost when buying it. I decided to keep it for now and purchase what I really want once I have a bit more money. Shoot I haven’t even bought a personal computer yet. I only use a computer when I’m at work or at a friend’s house. I’ll just have to learn to budget my money better and take it one step at a time. As far as the security I don’t think they were going out of their way to get people, it just happened to be my bad luck that I got spotted. Maybe it was because I was moving around too much that they saw me. I don’t know. Once the concert was over I didn’t have any problems taking pictures. And Jezibel, about the shirt thing I think I put the pictures out of sequence. Sorry, I was tired. I think next time jlais has the right idea. Maybe we can develop some kind of agent pin or something so we can recognize each other. I really wish I would have met you guys. When I met other fans from VR I usually met them in line but by the time I got in this time everyone was already in. Next time I’ll just have to go earlier. Again it was an awesome show I can’t wait for the next one.

here's a little Japanese and Zuni Dragonfly Sybology
In Japan, they are revered and respected, being symbolic of happiness, strength, courage and success.
To the Japanese, the dragonfly (Tombo) is an important cultural symbol and was believed to be the spirit of the rice plant and a harbinger of rich harvests. Akitsushmi, which means Dragonfly Island, is an alternative name for Japan.
Dragonflies symbolize whirlwind, swiftness and activity. The dragonfly is an important insect in Zuni legend, where they are shamanistic creatures with supernatural powers.

wow... thanks Abby, Cassandra & Wendybird for the great shots. i'm such a good girl. i had my camera in my pocket but i was so nervous about wether or not they would let me bring it in, that i went up and asked them if we could bring in cameras and they said "no", so my boyfriend went to take my camera back to the car. and then, all they did was check ID's at the door. i SO could have brought mine in. and then i even went back to the car to get asprin, and didn't even think to bring my camera with me. the guy at the door was so cool about letting us go to the car and come back in, it would have been so easy. and then jezzi got busted with hers and i thought, well at least they are consistant. but you slick girls! got some great shots that were worth the risk.
i was so bummed that i couldn't stay longer to meet all the guys, but my boyfriend had to be up at 6am and we had a long drive home... oh well, i knew that going in. can't wait for a book-signing... just might be my chance to meet Dave - face to face. i loved Steve's comment about "knowing people you've never met". it IS weird. thank you everyone, for making it so easy for people to come here and BELONG. something that, in "real" life, would not be easy to do. it's not easy to get IN with any crowd when you are new. but i do feel like i belong. a feeling that i haven't really felt... well, i would say, in a long time... but i really can't remember a time when i felt this way. i can't wait until we all can get together again.
until then...

Hi Rain,
OOOPS, I forgot about THAT...many online websites DO develop your regular 35mm film, print it, send you the photos & will also post the jpegs of your film on their website to your personal page.
For an extra fee they'll put all your shots on a CD.
SNAPFISH & Clark Labs are just 2 of the companies which do this, they are quite reasonable in their pricing.
Hope that helps the non-digital camera owners out there who want to share their photos online.
take care,

Good Afternoon Everybody:
Just checking in (Lunch Break) and I wanted to say thank you to "The Panic Channel Ladies" for submitting in some really beautiful pictures. It's really interesting how all of the pictures (even as close as we were) all have a unique angle/different perspective. Some of those pictures I totally recall that moment. So with that said I have a new screensaver! As of last night I worked on my own guitar setup. Changing pedals/signal chains, working on my tube amp for my first attempt to play the heavy riffs of "Ashes." For all of those interested it sounded pretty cool and yes it brough a smile to my face. Maybe like sounding, almost close, some strokes of genious here and there, trying to figure it out, but hey that's the fun of it right? I really tried to pay attention to how Dave and Steve were playing as far as chords and riffs. I am sure other's were just as observant (kudos). Tonight, I'm off to Guitar Center to pick up a few things. In the process I get to do my all time favorite thing which is to play a PRS Custom 24, rock out and annoy the guys at Guitar center and then put it back on the hanger (Ok guys, lets be honest here I know alot of you can relate on that one becuase there not cheap!) So I will try and check back tomorrow morning. Thanks to all who have written/back and forth to me. I have to go...work calls, until next time, be safe and be well!

can you please explane those as well?
thank you so much!
dave, i saw pieces of videoclips of TNO today on MTV. its such a pity they don't show your clips here..they showed it now because it was something about 'bad boys' and how some had settled down
i'd love to watch the entire videos, where can i find them?

The Panic Channel was amazing.
So much pure energy...like a shot of electricity!
I LOVED Punish Me, Half Hearted, Loophole, and Ashes.
But, all of it was great! You really rocked the crowd
It was nice to meet you Dave, and Steve.
You were both so sweet.
I have some cool pics to post, but still need to get them out of my camera.
I took some mini movies, but they're dark and the sound is distorted.
I wonder if there is a way to lighten them in IMovie or something?
I'll post them as soon as I can.

Hey Dave,
In the recent article you mention that your collaborations have been with other artists that your fans wouldn't ordinarily expect (eg Michael Jackson, Christine Auguilera etc). I'm just wondering what records you had in your collection from your teenage years that might surprise people. I'm sure you have some in there that people would react with 'no way...Dave would never be into that'.
PS - any long term plans to TPC down to Australia?
Thanks,
Daniel

Mornin' all,
Jez, I liked the poem, but do you really feel there is no such thing as luck or coincidence? How about chance or happenstance?
Dave, do you think there is a difference between being lucky and being fortunate?
Thanks and have a great Friday!

How much would you say drug use was a part of your creative process?
In your opinion, would you have been able to write something like the solos in Three Days or Noone's Leaving or even the One Hot Minute stuff (which is one of the greatest and most underrated guitar albums around)without the use of drugs? Or did it help to get something out of your system you might not have been able to express otherwise?

Jilla---Not really, I don't believe in fate, or luck of the cards, I don't buy lottery tickets, I mean, I play poker, but it's more of a mental thing, you know?
The thought I was expressing not so eloquently had to do with a sermon I once heard, Those who believe in a Higher Power, in my case, ok, I'll say it...God...know that there is no such thing as luck, or coincidence.
It stuck with me, so, for example, today, when I changed lanes and almost hit someone because I wasn't looking, I didn't consider it 'lucky'...I, myself, need to believe that SOMEONE is looking out for me, I don't do a very good job of it alone.

Jezzi,
Very well put. I, as well, do not believe in fate, per say. I do; however, believe that we create our own fate. I do purchase lottery tickets on occasion, more our of superstition than from a feeling of being lucky. One too many times I have dreamt of a number or had a number recur several times a throughout a day, and did not play the number. Just my luck, or lack thereof, the number comes in! I hope someone is out there - up there - looking out for me to keep me safe from harm. I also think the opposite when something not so nice happens, such as, when I am running late for work and spill coffee all over myself while trying to put all my crap in the car, or stubbing my toe... I sometimes wonder if my "guarding angel" is having a laugh at my expense? Does anyone else ever have this same feeling?

Good Friday Morning Dave and Family!
There are some really nice pics of Dave over at www.rockdirt.com from a black jack tournament on 9/15 and, strangely enough, there are also aerial pics of Carmen and Daves house posted too. :p
Dave, I asked this once before but, I'm gonna try it again....have you ever had a really scary flight experience???
Happy Friday All! :D

k, I had to change my password because somebody messed with my account. But if someone still wants to see the whole album I'll add you to the sharing option. Just drop me an e-mail. (note I don't check e-mail on weekends.)
Oh yeah, good morning everyone.

Wendy, that was such a generous and trusting thing you did. Your willingness to share your pictures was truly an unselfish act. I am sorry that the old adage that "no good deed goes unpunished" came true in this case.
One loser, thankfully, does not represent the rest of us, who truly appreciate your kind spirt
