Dave & Dave: Miami Style

dlrdmn1. I have always wondered this... at home do you call Carmen "Carmen" at home or do you call her "Tara"? If Tara... can you explain why you got "CE" on your chest?

I call her Carmen. The CE is for Carmen Electra.

2. I like the new ink. Very nice script. Do you always have a special type of script in mind or do you let the tattoo guys make some suggestions and then you decide?

I give a description and then let the artist take it from there. After all, he IS an "artist".

3. I'm hoping you'll be doing some book signings.

I am. As soon as I get the schedule, I will post it.

4. Hey Dave, do you wear Cavalli jeans?

I think I have a pair around here somewhere.

5. id to ask anyway who came up with the "tea spoon of olive oil" joke in your 97' rhcp master sessions video.

That was all me, my friend.

6. do you dye your own hair or have someone else do it for you?

I haven't dyed it in years, but when I do, I have someone else do it. I think I would suck at that.

7. He said that your driver "hit a guy" and Carmen told him to keep driving, but you made him stop. Is that really true?

No, that is not true, she just wanted to get away from the squeegee guy.

8. Anyway, my question is, considering the amount of ink you have done, do you regret any of them, or wish you had designed something differently?

No, I just look at them all as experiences, unique and memorable.

9. Do you usually wear cologne or do you go 'natural'?

Once in a while, I am not really a cologne guy.

10. Have you decided which songs are going to be on the EP yet?

No, right now it is just in the "idea" phase.

Peace,

DN

Dave, I was just wondering did you have any input on the videos for Rexall or Hungry or did somebody just pitch an idea to you.

Posted by: Rich Shook at September 2, 2004 12:20 PM

Heh, it's funny how the first comment always say "I'm first!" :D

Anyway, Dave, people who go 'natural' is the best. Most colognes suck. Except from this one kind I don't know what's called that I smelled off some guy. He was gay, though. Gay guys usually do it better. For some reason :)

Anyway, I think it's cool that you actually read some of these comments, Dave, and I really hope you'll consider having some sort of contest on here for a signed copy of your book (either that or do so many book signings that someone like me who's stuck up here in Scandinavia can get a copy off Ebay ;)

hey dave, i didnt get a chance to post eariler... stupid work. oh well. the new tats look great. anyways, i remember a few years ago i was flipping through the channels and came across this show with you on an airplane with a gun i believe (correct me if im wrong). i think it was martial law, the only reason i remember it is because i saw you and stopped, then i saw david silveria from korn. i was kinda suprised. were you guys playing bad guys or something? (i didnt finish the show, fell asleep). how was it to play a bad ass?

Will you be doing the rounds of late night talk shows when your book comes out and/or will TPC do the same when the EP comes out?

Posted by: americanzer0 at September 2, 2004 12:33 PM

I was also wondering if you dye the goatee

My sweetie is about the same age as you and while the hair on his head is still dark brown, his goatee has a bunch of different flavors, ranging from brown, to red to funky white! He won't let me dye it though...

Posted by: Cynthia at September 2, 2004 12:37 PM

... you dye your hair?

wow, you learn something new every day... which is just one of the many great things about this wonderful little journal, Dave (: I really appreciate and admire that you spend a bit of time to write this kind of stuff down. (:

Soph xx

PS. I'm definately coming to L.A. for sure next summer... I'll look out for you (;

On your book, if you aren't going to be in the area of someone on here, would you allow us to send you our copy to sign?

Posted by: Cynthia at September 2, 2004 12:38 PM

hey dave... random question... but how tall are you?

oh... and chantelle... if dave does a book signing in NYC (which you should, dave, cuz it awesome here!!) i'll have him sign two books and send one to you (as long as you are willing to pay for s&h).

Hi dave!
Do you think that Carmen Elektra is or will be a good mother for your child? will your child be proud of what she did in her life? i mean al about porno, playboy pic. and you now.......
It's truth that children can't chose thier own parents but you can choose a good mother for your boy!
What do you think?

What's up Dave! Hey I was wondering if there was any one song, or a few that you wrote, where you really surprised yourself. I mean, i understand you've got to be pretty proud of all your work, but i mean something where you really got some chills listening to the playback and think ya know, "wow i can't believe i wrote this." I thought of this question while listening to the song '3 days' cuz that just really seems like something more than four people playin in a band ya know?

Posted by: Bill at September 2, 2004 01:00 PM

Vian I don't think Dave would've married Carmen if he didn't think she'd be wonderful mother...

haha...squeegee...

Vian, of course Carmen would be a good mother + who cares about the porn/playboy...children are generally understanding creatures. I know if Carmen was my mom, I wouldn't care. However, not matter what thier kid is screwed because regardless of it's gender... it's gonna be attracted to one of it's parents.

Dave,
I was just wondering if it makes you uncomfortable to watch Carmen in certain movies, such as Scary Movie when she runs through the sprinklers and gets stabbed?

how old were you when you first saw a therapist?

Posted by: GazzWa at September 2, 2004 01:23 PM

From what I have seen and read, Carmen loves kids and can't wait to be a mother, what more do you need?

Who wouldn't be proud to have such a beautiful mother? Jeez can you even picture how beautiful little Dave and little Carmen will be? just kill me now...

Hey Dave,
Im going to be in LA this weekend for the Linkin Park/Snoop/Korn Concert. I have some artwork i want to get to you. You actually posted it on the 23rd of august. Well anyways i have a poster version of that image and i was wondering if i could drop it off somewhere to get it to you. Also this will be my first time in LA for pleasure, is there any place you would recommend to eat or go out? We will be staying in Hollywood. Well thanks in advance. Have a good day.

Hey Dave,

Gotta love Diamond Dave! Why can't Eddie and he just get along? VH without Roth is just pure shit (with the exception of Why Can't This Be Love). Best frontman ever. Saw him last year in Dublin- the man still has it.

Anyway, just bought me a copy of Deconstruction in a 2nd Hand Store. I love it! At the moment I've gotta say L.A. Song, Iris and One are my favourites. I got a sort of Alice in Chains vibe off the album, which is a very good thing. Is that you singing on Big Sur? Will you be doing any singing with the Panic Channel or at least some harmonies?

Also, didn't really like the name the Panic Channel at 1st but it has really grown on me. The fact that the name can have various interpretations is what sold it to me.

Peace out.

Posted by: justtoby at September 2, 2004 02:16 PM

Dave, do you like Rob Zombie's artwork?

Posted by: ylais at September 2, 2004 02:18 PM

I bought Donovan's Sutras because I read you played on it. In the liner notes, you are credited with playing keyboards. No guitar! Fascinating.

How did that come about? (Besides the obvious Rick Rubin connection.)

Did Donovan ask you just to play keyboard?

Posted by: Joshua at September 2, 2004 02:21 PM

Dave, another question, I noticed lots of people ask on here where to send you stuff, if any of us wanted to send you something, then isn't it customary to send it to your record company?

Will David Lee Roth be doing a guest Q&A session while he's here? :P

He's such a cool dude! :D

G'day!

Was wondering, when u use weights, does it affect your tattoos in anyway, do they get stretched...? Im slim and would wanna get one done but im starting to use weights too.
Funnily enough i've dreamt that im getting them done. I read up on this and found out if you dream of tattoos upon yrself, then they meant to symbolise an experience later in your life.

Do have any favourite Elvis tunes?

thanx!

¿Do you consider yourself a political person?
¿Are you friends with Zakk Wylde?
¿Have you watched some of the Democratic or Republican Conventions?

To the question re: Carmen's feelings about explaining to kids her choices ... I can only say from personal experience that what I've learned over the past 2 1/2 years w/my little girl is that the only thing you want for your child more than anything in the world is their happiness. And all the choices you've made in the past, all the things you think you want for yourself, all the mistakes you've made up to the point that child is there...they all don't matter any longer. Because your thought is "Let this baby be happy, content, and good with who they are - and let me do what's right to allow them that". So I would think (bear w/me in my convoluted thought) that Carmen is just SET to be a great mom (and DAVE a great dad) because they've both lived life a little on the 'edge', made choices that were not the norm, made misakes, etc. They've learned the importance of being their own person and will protect that right for their child fiercely because of it. Just my two cents.

Other than that, have a great evening, and Dave - as always - you are just a beautiful sexy man. *sighs and fans herself to keep from swooning ONCE AGAIN*

Hiya Dave and everyone.

Dave,it dawned on me that i've posted here a few times and through this site gotten in contact with some really cool people, but i haven't thanked you.

I would like to thank you for practically teaching me how to play guitar(between you and John Frusciante)
I've never had a tutor but when i was younger i wanted to be able to play the music i liked the most,at the time it was J.A & RHCP.

Through learning this music i learned loads of stuff.Chords, timing, layering tracks and practically all the different styles under the sun, this gave me the building blocks to be able to write my own music.
I still have my limitations but you never stop learning right?

I also never thanked you for posting my tune Girl on loop experiments(i never expected that, let alone a brief reply with your opinion of it,that was a buzz)
So with all my heart,Thank you so much.

You have right when you said that "children are generally understanding creatures". May be Dave's sun will do it. but do you think that it is easy for 7 years old boy or girl to understand that his/her own mother making sexfilms and tacke nude pic for money? + pleez don't say that you would be proud of Carmen if she was your mom cuse you never know it!

Dave have you ever done a PSA on drug abuse? Or thought of doing any public speaking on the subject?
I don't think your past should have too much effect on your child. Speaking from my life; My dad had a serious drug issue when my mom got pregnant with me and I turned out deasantly well ajusted. I just have a spelling problem that's all! =)

Posted by: Rain at September 2, 2004 06:24 PM

Dave, what's all this about YOU having a child? Are you pregnant?

Just look how these things get started...

Thanks FreAk, you answered right away. Cool! This is even more exciting.

Dave, any news on whether Camp Freddy will be archived? I 've missed the shows, and I was listening to the MINI guitar songs on FreAk's site, again, and they are so funny, and great music too. :) Well, I'll be up at 3am here from now on listening.

I LOVE the "Panic Eye" artwork! Awesome job!

On a sidenote, check out this link: http://mateengreenway.com/Amazon/rebel.jpg . It's a pic of the Star Wars rebel symbol, and I realized tonight that it's very similar to the P.C. symbol upside down. Add that to Dave's demonstration of his light saber ability and it makes ya wonder... ;)

I just listened to "Should I Stay or Should I Go" on Freak's site, it really showed how much you enjoyed jamming together with that song. I found myself singing along to it. That's something magical about an impromtu session like that. The enjoyment of the playing and singing really came through.

hey vian, Carmen is a strong, confident woman, who happens to be very atractive and not afraid of her sexuallity like some people. She's also a kind and loving human being who can get her feelings hurt. Every kid is embarresed by their mom and dad at sometime or another, but in the end we love them for how they care for us. I wish more women were as strong, confident and kind as Carmen is. And sexuallity does not have to be limted to the bedroom, I don't care what religous prudes say.

Great pic w/ DLR, I love the guy but does anyone else here think his part time EMT job has to do with HMMM..... Drugs???

Posted by: Shane at September 2, 2004 07:03 PM

Great picture Dave! You look gorgeous as always.:-)

I think Carmen would be a great mom too - and I've seen her quoted as saying that she thinks dave would be an amazing dad.:-)

Tryouts for the Equestrian team here at college are tomorrow!! I'm so excited, I haven't been riding in almost a week since being at school (that's a long time for me!:-))

Posted by: Caitlin at September 2, 2004 07:25 PM

vian, where are you coming from with all this? I agree with whoever said that the things Carmen has done were pretty tame... It's not like there will be nude pics of her hanging all over the house (well maybe in Dave's computer room)

There is a time and place to let the kids in on everything, and when the time is right, they will understand...

I think most everyone here would agree that Dave should definately have babies with Carmen...

I am full of questions for Dave today.

"what was different about Carmen and the other girls that make you open your heart to her?"

yeah, i was wondering the same question. How did you know that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with Carmen?

The other day I was browsing through the old 6767.com archives and was reading the ramblings. Are those excerpts from your book by chance? I especially liked the "Love in LA" ones. I have a feeling you modeled some of those characters after certain people you are friends with/know.

you wrote: "Love does exist, however, only moment to moment and never for a lifetime...Love fades."

Is that something you truly felt at the time? If so, do you still feel the same way now that you are married?

This is for vian.....from what I know of Carmen Electra as an actress, she has NEVER done any porno! Where did you hear that? It's amazing the rumours people hear & pass on about celebrities. Carmen has never made a "sex film" as far as the public knows! LOL

While I don't follow Carmen's career as closely as Dave's, I know Carmen started as a Rap singer/dancer. I even remember seeing her video on MTV many years ago. She's acted on TV in 'Baywatch', starred in many comedy movies including the big hit 'Scary Movie' & yes, she posed for Playboy, which is not considered a pornographic magazine.

What is so scandalous about ANY of the above endeavors??

Here's Carmens bio from IMDB:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001182/

She's done about 20 movies, none which would be considered porn. Perhaps you should read this list & then report which of these movies are "sex films"? LOL

Part of the IMBD bio: "Carmen Electra grew up near Cincinnati, Ohio, in the town of White Oak and got her first boost when a scout for Prince spotted her fronting for a rap group in Los Angeles. She released a self-titled album for Prince's Paisley Park label in 1992."

People should really try to get their facts straight before posting rumours about anyone.

The Internet is a wonderful source for ANY type of information, you should try it sometime.
