Coffee and Love
Yesterday was a lot of fun! Chad picked me up early in the morning and we went out to the desert to shoot the video for the Glenn Hughes video, Soul Mover. It was hot, but not unbearable. Glenn is just an amazing guy and Chad is, well, you know Chad, he is the s@#t! On the way back, it dawned on me as it often does, just how many cool and fun experiences I would miss if I were still loaded. I thank God every day for the gift of life. I did miss Camp Freddy Radio yesterday but I know that Donovan held down the fort well and from what I have read here, Billy called in from the Inland Invasion. I'm jealous he got to see Siouxsie! That would have been amazing. I remember seeing her every night on Lolla 91. What a presence and performer. Definitely one of my all time favorite artists. What else? I do know that bass has been added to "Shoot", our online jam and should be ready for unveiling fairly soon. Perhaps by the next CFR on Indie. I'd love to play it there and "show off" my talented friends online. By the way, Steve did get the purple รท13 amp.
1. Dave, what do you think to Chris Cornell?
He is amazing! Just enough 70's, just enough Metal and just enough modern sense.
2. Dave--much love, but: LAY OFF THE WAH!!!!!!!
I just can't help myself, I love that thing!
3. dave, i was just wondering-- is this really your guitar? it looks like shit to me... i mean, the sigature doesnt even look like yours, but i dont know it is supposedly all the way back from '91. just wondering...
Good times. I remember it well. Yes, that was once mine.
4. Thanks to you I was able to relax and not get into it with my family. I love what you do with this site and everyone here is so positive. Thank you so much for giving us all a place to come, and amazing music to listen to.
Thank you Shane. Our prayers are with you and your father.
5. hey dave how would you rate the following films out of 10...big lebowski , smokey and the bandit, spinal tap,and adaptation
Big Lebowski - 9
Smokey and the Bandit - 2
Spinal Tap - 10
Adaptation - 10
6. Is todays picture a tattoo or just magic marker? i can't quite tell.
I think it is a marker, but I am not sure either.
7. so my question, what hurts worse, tattoos or piercings?
I say body piercings, not ears, hurt worse. Plus recovery and healing time is much longer.
8. What is your opinion on bands who slag off other bands example:Oasis vs Blur,A.kiedis vs M.Patton, pretty much the whole rap scene. Is it publicity stunts, media manipulation or is it just petty mouthing off.
Good question. I for one, am not into it. Sure there is music I do not enjoy out there, but I can choose not to listen. Everyone has the right to create and make music. As I have said before, I am not "anti" anything but I am "pro" quite often. I choose not to be a part of the slagging, but I will admit, it can be fun to watch. I aint THAT spiritual!
9. oooooooooooo new video when is it gonna be on mtv Dave ? Dave do you know when the chilis are planning to release another album?
Don't know about the video as it is mainly for Europe. Glenn said I could put a Quicktime here though. As for the Chilis, they are currently writing for a new album, so I don't know of a release date yet.
10. AAAAAhhhh just got off the phone with my sis aka chickbassplayer Shoot is coming along peeps. I can't wait to hear some vocals from Kyle!!! Have a great weekend "fam"...
Yes! I have received the file and it is really starting to take shape.
Have a beautiful Sunday,
Dave

since you're very good at giving advice,I pray you will help me.here I am, dating a guy ( better say dating an angel), the problem is i CAN'T belive it when he says he loves me.let's call it lack of self-confidence.my way of thinking is simply ruining our relationship.what am i gonna do?
thanks, lots of love
tina
also I will be grateful if anyone here can help.xoxoxoxo

Cool picture Dave, looks like it will be an awesome video!
Tina, it probably is just a case of low self esteem. I don't think he'd say it if he didn't mean it. Best of luck.
Things are crazy for me right now, I keep waiting for life to slow down a little for me so I can catch up, but I don't think it's going to happen. So much homework and laundry to do today - *sigh*. Off to do that I guess.

Hey Dave
I have two questions i would love to get answered!
1: What brand/model is the slef-amplifying guitar you used the Walkabout solo?
2: What is the difference between your Peach and your Tanjarine cabinets?
Posted by: Christian at September 19, 2004 10:34 AM
Tina are you a fan of Bob Marley?
Could you be loved? Then BE loved!!
Talk is pretty cheap, as my mom used to say. I mean I love you, Tina, do you believe me? Probably not, because my actions haven't shown you anything.
Ask yourself if you FEEL loved, without his words, but by his actions and how you respond to them.
As far as low self-esteem, and all that, I know it well, but I don't believe that adage that no one can love you unless you love yourself. I do believe that the trusting in love is difficult if one is still hanging on to shreds of self-loathing.
Anyway, back to DAVE!!!!
Dave, eagerly waiting the show, CFR was cool last night, loved the baby background music!
As a girl from the humble IE, appreciated Billy's comment that he only saw Hollywood people backstage, not any IE peeps!
Question of the day---if you were a tree? According to an email called What Tree did you fall from, people born on your birthday are Hornbeam trees?
Hornbeam Tree (Good Taste) -- of cool beauty,
cares for its looks and condition, good taste, is not egoistic, makes life as
comfortable as possible, leads a reasonable and disciplined life, looks for
kindness and acknowledgment in an emotional
partner, dreams of unusual lovers, is seldom happy with its feelings,
mistrusts most people,is
never sure of its decisions, very conscientious
hmmm, one more thing, I asked it in an earlier post, why did you like your 8th grade lit teacher?
off to indulge in some fantasy.....football!

Dave~ Today I had to adopt two birds because their previous owner couldn't keep them, and as I've been sitting here surfing the web and listening to music I've discovered the darndest thing: They only sing when I put on TNO. I've listened to APC and Tori Amos too, and got nothing, but when I put on TNO they just wont shut up and it's pretty damn annotying so I had to turn the music off :)
Looks like you've got yourself a couple of feathered fans named Rocky and Pippen, Dave.
Wonder if they'll sing if I play my guitar?
Have a good one everyone!

Tina:
Sister...believe that good things happen to good people. Sometimes it is hard to believe that a relationship can progress so wonderfully and you keep waiting for the shoe to drop....but the thing is....you have to believe it is going to work or there is no reason staying in it. Go into it with all you have. That way...whether or not you stay together for a million years or for only 6 months...you know you gave it everything you could and that no one would be to blame for it not working out. Trust that he loves you when he says it, I highly doubt he would use the phrase lightly. Best of luck to the 2 of you.

Love your pic Cassandra, and Dave looks so sexy smoking.
I just did a drawing of Dave a couple of nights ago, and it's too big to scan in. O.o
But when I was looking for pics of Dave, I noticed I took a liking to the ones where he's smoking. Oh dear. I don't smoke, funny huh?

Hi Tina
I can relate to your post in a way.Reading your post i wondered if you've been hurt in the past.
I hesitate to give you advise as i'm still working through issues of my own relating to love, but i will say this, there are very understanding folks on here only too willing to share words of wisdom, listen to them, they've helped me recently when i was feeling low(thanks again Cori and Tim you really cleared my head)
It really lifts you up when you know people have taken the time to read and answer your post when you need support.
Love is to me:it isn't something you can choose to feel or find,it finds you and when you feel it you know it because you can't control it,its over whelming.
I guess the trick is to find the balance between your head and your heart.Easy to read, hard to do.
I hope you work it out
Be happy in the moment.:)

Reader Warning: Love Line moment coming up
Tina, what do you mean by you "CAN'T believe it" when he says he loves you? Does he say or do something that gives you mixed signals? Or do you feel unworthy of this guy's admiration?
How long have you been together?
In my experience, people can be real quick to express their admiration and can claim to love you the first day. That I think is pretty impossible. I can see two people clicking and getting along right off the bat, but actually being in love the first day? Highly unlikely. I think love takes time and is a gradual process.
Does he know how you feel about him? Perhaps you can't believe him because you don't feel the same way about him? If so, there is nothing wrong with that. Let him know that you need more time.
As far as feeling unworthy of his love goes, if that's the case, hell no girlfriend. Just like everyone else, you deserve to be loved and to have someone to share your life with that truly cares about you and respects you. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. Don't be afraid to give and receive love. That ability is one of the most valuable gifts life will give you.
I'm obviously no expert, but that's just my 2 cents...

hey there ... im katie... thats my arm on the sept 17th post. i dont think i wrote all that much in my email to dave to send him the pic. that was marker a year and a couple months ago... it is now a tattoo. i got it tattooed the same day that he signed it on my arm!! ok hopefully someone reads this and it clears it all up lol...
Posted by: katie at September 19, 2004 04:49 PM
wow, there's so much good advice on here, and views on love, I can't think of anything more to add to it. I can only say that I can relate to what you said you are feeling, and if you need to chat more or post more please do.
I tend to agree with what Maria put above, only because I've had a couple of times when I felt that love right away thing, and it was mutual, and those relationships were definately bad for me. But I think that it depends on the person. Now, I'm a bit older, I trust my feelings more, because I've looked deeply at myself, I had too.
Those earlier relationships were destructive because I had stuff not dealt with, and so did they.
Okay, well I can't tell you what to do.
Trust your own feelings, listen to what they are telling you. Use your head to though to sort them out, be philosophical!
Balance like Steve L said.
well, he's my scanned pic of Dave N. i had to crop the bottom off, but it's most of it. it may take a little while to load.

Dave~those are excellent photos of you, Glenn, and Chad making the video. Who took the photos? Also, it looks like in one of them, you and Glenn are tuning your guitars together which I thought was that greatest picture, then it suddenly hit me that guys are out there with no amps, or leads. When can we expect to see the video, I'm looking forward to it!?

Hi Dave,
Ever think about getting a turtle again?? Ha-ha! Just kidding.
Actually turtles are NOT all that easy to take care of. I have one, she's 10 years old. Just maintaining her tank is a horror, between the special UVB bulbs which have to be changed every 6 months, to proper water filtration, heating & general maintainence..ugh! But she IS worth it.
I got her as a hatchling. A turtle is not something I would recommend just buying on a whim, unless the person is prepared for the work & WANTS one! There's just so much care involved, as much as having a dog or cat.
Possibly even more work. I even take her to the vet yearly! The only plus is that turtles stay in their tank & you don't have to worry about walking them at 4AM. You actually never have to worry about that.
I'm sure you were bummed when your turtle died when you were a kid. I hope you didn't blame yourself. Back then, no one knew anything about maintaining turts. I had about 3 die on me when I was a kid.
Back in the day, everyone just bought one of those tiny red-eared sliders at Woolworth's because they were so "cute", then they put them in one of those ridiculous plastic 'bowls' with a little water, fed them dried flies for food (boy, was THAT wrong!) & hoped for the best!! Of course, none of the hatchlings survived beyond a few months, because the knowledge wasn't around back then.
My turtle was actually in PEOPLE magazine last year. I took her to the Animal Medical Center hospital in NYC, she seemed to have something down her throat, it looked like a growth! But she was still eating & very very active. The AMC vet knew what it was in seconds; a form of 'mouth rot', not as a sinister as it sounded. The vet had no clue how she developed it, she suspected that I wasn't changing the UVB bulbs as often as I was suppossed to. I had to give her antibiotics for 2 weeks. She celebrated her 10th birthday last month!
A PEOPLE team happened to be covering the daily hospital activities that afternoon, they said my turtle was the most unusual pet there that day, would it be okay to photograph her. So I signed a release & 'Tippy' was immortalized in the pages of PEOPLE. She looked huge in the photo, there IS something to be said about a camera adding pounds! LOL
Of course, after asking my name numerous times, plus having it on the release form, they forget to add my name to the article! Typical 'journalists'! lol
Just wanted to tell you Dave, DON'T get another turtle. If you & Carmen are going to be travelling a lot, a turtle (or any reptile) is not the pet for you.
Turtles do make wonderful pets, but they require a bit more care than most pet owners are willing to give. Things like having to to re-create a proper environment for them right down to temperature levels which they'd have in the wild, are major annoyances. Unless you hire a turtle expert to maintain everything, stick with Daisy!
take care,
itanja

tina,
i think that jezebel is on the right track... i'm not sure how i feel about this topic, but i know many people who do not consider love an emotion, but an action. talk can be cheap when it's not backed up with action. people say "i love you" all the time without really understanding what it means. what does it mean to you?? like jezebel said, "love yourself". when you do, you will be able to let someone else love you.

I don't apparently get around the internet as much as I should. I'm glad I found this here =)
I'm starting to realize how much past-fashion is making a comeback. I was looking in old photo albums and man..if I had the clothes I had back then right now..
My art class has been doing still life pencil shadings for awhile now. I decided to do a bigger peice, and so far I've been working on it for a grand total of 14 hrs and 40 minutes. Needless to say I got a little tired of the repetativeness so Dave's face is nicely hidden between the 'aboriginal face mask' and the teddy bear. The things I do to entertain myself...
Tina-
I'm assuming that your angel has told you "I love you" more than once. When people say it regularily, they're not messing around. I'm sure your angel loves you just as much as you love them!

I just want to assure everyone that I meant my own posts, and it was a rhetorical question, and I happened to be posting at the same time as Itanja.
Take care

Dave,
I know you and Carmen have talked about having children one day. I was just wondering if she has decided weather or not she wanted to go the whole 9 yards and do it all natural (no meds, and breast feeding) or do what it seams a lot of famous people are doing now and schedule a C-section and bottle feed? Sorry if this question is touching on the too personal side. I'm actually going to school for Midwifery.
Thanks for your time!

Hi Dave,
I know this may be a naive question but I am inexperienced in this area. When someone is addicted to drugs and they're spiralling downward, do they "know" they are out of control or do they think they are fine?
Also, thanks for the space to allow such questions too!!!

Rose, they don't know they've lost control at first, but they realize it eventually. The thing is that it is often a huge jump between realizing it and wanting to or being ready to get help. Unfortunately, some never make that leap.

Hey D...glad to see you've reacquired your excitement for the internet, and see how often you've updated us on "life in general" on here. Very cool. Very much what i had imagined when the whole Spread/67 thing took off. Better late than never...I really agree with what you said about releasing your book (the original version) w/o a "flowery ending" being somewhat irresponsible. I don't know if irresponsible would be the right word, but the fact that you're allowing us to be a part of the light at the end of the darkness many of us have shared with you (either directly or indirectly), and the idea of ending the book, where our hero find's his happiness as opposed to leaving us wondering whether his inner demon's are still floating around. Most of us know better anyway, but kudos on the decision. Sorry bout rambling but you know me Dave, and how i get (EuphoricXRecall)...one question.
-Any chance of getting Scott Weiland to jam on some CF tracks, as he's basically the only member of VR that you haven't played with. Also, your critique briefly of their album???? (Contraband)

I think one of the "rules" for an autobiography is to end it on a high note, as in what you've learned from your life so far, and how much you've progressed, and what is good in your life.
I was told this when I was at college a long time ago, in a class in which we had to write our autobiographies, which oddly was a psych course called, "Self Knowledge and Self Esteem."
Love to all
