Hey Dave. What kind of practice schedule do you guys have for Camp Freddy? I can imagine it is hard to find time to jam between your own bands and busy schedules. Do you guys just know the songs so well that you can just play them at the drop of a hat? Thanks.

Pretty cool and funny review and nice pics.
Just watched the Master Sessions Guitar video Dave, it's really cool and interesting - though i have no clue about playing, lol. I played classic guitar for about one year but then gave up.
Nice to hear some of my fave tunes there (Ocean Size oh yeahhhhh) and how you came up with the stuff..
Also i lmao at Dave Lee's t-shirt...who in hell did that? Its so fu***g cool.:-)
have a nice day all,

Dave...I'm sure the phone will be ringing off the hook about the Page Six Six Six item today. Since you are such a great writer(musically and in your blog), I'm wondering why you needed a ghostwriter? Cheers, Michael
Posted by: VedderJett at September 14, 2004 04:54 AM
I'm with Vedderjett on this one, only because if I were Steve Isaacs, I would take exception to the comment "new friend", Has Vicky not read this blog?
No mention of Panic, not to mention, although those were wonderful pics, and her review used "cool" nomenclature, I liked the review from Steve better, and the pics from billymcd....
No matter, it's important to be published!
Thanks for posting the link.
one more thing...."guest" drummer?

So, I flip through my usual morning copy of the New York Post and poof! You got top billing on Page Six. Not an easy feat, mind you.

Good Tuesday morning Dave, morning to the family too.
Well today is a little scary(??) for me as I have been thinking about getting some inks done (thanks Pony, et al (j/k bro!!)) and today looks like the day. I have always been fascinated with eastern cultures and since I had worked for two Japanese companies and it kind of fit. My designs are Japanese/Chinese symbols for Peace and Respect. Hopefully one on each upper arm. I don't know why, but this just fells right at my point of life to do this. So, after my morning coffees I 'll be heading out. Wish me luck.
Dave the CFR from last Saturday was so totally awesome you and Billy are just so cool. Kudos to the family members who got to talk to you on the air.. Abby, Freak and Pony. It's is great that you open up the lines and talk to the family Dave. Everyone appreciates the time and love you give us all at the 6767.
Damn interruptions.. I was on a roll now I lose my thoughts.. DAMN.. Oh yes, right.. the pics from Camp Freddy were just awesome from the speedway, which begs to ask the question of Dave...
Is there any chance that someone recorded the music and might it be possible that it could be made available ??
PLZ Dave??
I always think that live shows are really cool cos it allows the performers to show their creative talents, while still staying within reasonable bounds of the songs they perform. SO to get some more clips would be cool.
Thanks Dave.
One last thing, yesterday's post from Pony.. coming up to meet me here in Toronto... we have been friends for about 6 or 7 years now. Pony is so totally a cool dude, he has helped me so much and I return the fav's whenever I can. Great to call him a good friend and yeah, as long as these inks today go well, we'll be doing something for Dave, ink wise, when he gets here. I already have a few ideas floating around.
Peace and Respect to Dave and the family. You all mean a lot to me, keeping me from going totally insane. TY TY TYVM.

BobbyFlay, thanks for the link. Wonder why the fuss from the publisher about the delayed? I think potential sales have increased simply bcz of the buzz. Negativity swirls about the $. Unbelievable.
Posted by: Tex at September 14, 2004 07:32 AM
Bruce,
There is no favor you need to return. I have enjoyed being your friend for the past 7 years.
Family,
I hope to have the Doheny - Drive Me video posted today. It is in a finished format just need Billy's approval.
I am back to the grind.
Still I wonder why I couldn't have been blessed with musical talent instead of a great business sense. Oh well I am glad I got blessed with anything at all.
Much Love,
Pony

Hey all
Hey Pony, keep chippin' away with the music dude,I play guitar too so i know how frustrating it is learning how to play the damn things(i love it really).I'm still trying to figure out the secret to solo's.
One day it will all fall into place.
Some people get it faster than others(i'm not one of them!lol)
Peace

Hey, I’ve been visiting this site for quite a while now and it feels like I found something I didn’t know I was looking for. It’s great to feel all the energy and enthousiasme here. Unfortunatly I can’t come to any of the shows in the US, because I’m from the netherlands... I have seen Dave perform life once in the Paradiso in Amsterdam.I was all the way in the back, ready to throw up because I wasn’t feeling well. That’s serious bad luck! but Dave was brilliant anyway. I haven’t posted anything before because I thought, who gives a f**k what I write, who cares. But now I figured what the hell, I’ll just write something and even if they say anything about my grammarmistakes...
What I just wanted to say to Dave and all the others, I love you all en you’re great, Emma

Thanks
Love the site!!

Dave -
Being a native Texan I have to ask: was Stevie Ray an influence? I think the two of you have an amazingly similar style and intensity, and an appreciation of the truly influential songs and artists that shaped modern rock, and your true love of playing is apparent to all your fans. Surely you've heard comparisons between the 2 of you? Any SRV faves? "Little Wing" from Jimi is unbelievable.
Jezzi -
*word* I'm with you again. "hazel"

Dave-
A friend and I were discussing *rockstar* herion addiction the other day. Now my question is when we see artist on stage performing or doing an interview no one looks *sick*. An example would be Kurt Cobain. When you watch the unplugged video he was using heavily at that time I beleive but when you look at him you can't tell his face doesn't look any different. the same with you in older pics. Anyway I am rambiling. my friend thinks that famous users have nutritionist to help you look healthy. One of my other friends is a herion addict and we can't help him in anyway. He says he loves the herion lifestyle and won't give it up for anything. Its like a page out of Scott Weilands book. You can tell when you look at my friend that he is an addict. his face is drawn and his skin is yellow looking. Now after i typed all that if you can find a question in there could you reply.
Thanks
Ron

Hi Emma; Glad you posted. We do care what you write, and also you write well!
We English speakers make some awful grammar mistakes at times.
Love the Nascar pics. Off to see the NY post pic now, and re-read that nascar review. I skimmed it.
Pony~Steve L said keep on chipping away with the music. and that's true. I have to agree with him there. It does get frustrating at times, learning, and trying to improve.
When you learn anything, you are trying to get better, there's going to be times you feel frustrated, and like you aren't getting anywhere, or like giving up; but you are still gettting places. keep playing, stuff is still happening there when you do even if you aren't aware of it. It's frustrating to me, because I feel as if I have music in me to get out, but i can't! It's like in my head, and soul, and I want to jump ahead really far.
Even like trying to sing it doesn't really do it. That just motivates me to keep fucking learning so I can express it somehow.
Okay, I'll stop for a while, long posts are tough to read on here.
Love and hugs to all.
Lisa

WAAHH!!
i am having problems navigating that website. I click on full story where that woman with a jihad against Dave called it off, is and absolutely nothing happens. I searched around there to see if i could get to it another way, but nope. Gave up.
I think I was also too annoyed at someone having the audacity to declare a jihad against anyone in the USA. And a person in publishing of all things. Feel a rant coming on. :X I didn't even know about it until now.
Little cynicism floating in too. So I'll take it somewhere else.
Excuse me.

Okay, calmed down. Dave I hope you and Judith Regan have settled your differences.
i still don't really know what it's about, and I get just hearsay, and tabloid news (if I am directed to it, otherwise i stay well clear).
Posted by: ylais at September 14, 2004 09:26 AM
oh emma don't worry about grammar or spelling, you should see what I post sometimes!
r3- sorry to hear that about your friend, man. The only way he can be helped is if he decides himself that he wants to get clean. As a friend, the best thing you can do is be upfront with him about how you feel and be there for him when he needs an anchor to lean on to help get himself back up.
Hey Freak, you around? If I get a mic today and record a little something for the Shoot vocals and like it, can I send it to you? Maybe you'll like it too and would want to use it.
hope everyone has a good day!

Hi Lisa,
Here's the 'New Yawk' Post Page Six 'item'. Btw, most New Yorkers hate this newpaper! It's not even good enought to line a bird cage with!
Same old gossip crap, this is actually OLD news! Nothing new, guess it's something from Regan's publicists end to hype the book to other music fans besides us hardcore Dave fans! Judith Regan also had something to do with Howard Stern's books, she is not know in publishing circles for her 'sweetness'.
Here you go......I've added the direct link too.
PUBLISHING powerhouse Judith Regan has called off her jihad against rocker Dave Navarro now that he's humbly apologized for his flaky behavior a few years back.
Navarro, the limelight-loving Jane's Addiction guitarist married to Carmen Electra, had been contracted to write a tell-all about his wild life, "Don't Try This at Home," for ReganBooks. Neil Strauss, who penned tell-alls for Jenna Jameson, Marilyn Manson and Motley Crue, was the ghostwriter.
But Regan says that just as the finished book was sent to the printer a few years ago, Navarro backed out.
"It was all set, designed, edited at the printer and ready to go," Regan told PAGE SIX. "And his lawyer called and said, 'He changed his mind and he doesn't want to do the book.'
"He was scared," Regan recalls. "He was into drugs. He was confused. We had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the book already. He never paid the writer. I was really annoyed. I said, 'You have to pay us back now.' It was like this rock 'n' roll mentality — 'I don't feel like doing it, so you have to eat it.' I said, 'No, you eat it.'
"So we litigated," Regan says. "It went back and forth for a while. And finally he came to his senses. He cleaned himself up. He fell in love. He decided to do the book and called me last week . . . And he said, 'Judith, I'm very sorry for what I put you through. I apologize and I'm gonna make it up to you.' It really moved me."
The formerly doomed tome finally comes out next month. Navarro has updated it to reflect his newlywed bliss with former "Baywatch" babe Electra, but the book is billed as "a gritty portrait of his descent into drug use and self-destructiveness."
The story is " very raw and very honest," Regan said.
Meanwhile, ghostwriter Strauss, a former New York Times music critic, is finishing up his next work for ReganBooks, "The Game," about pickup artists. And he may have learned a little too much about seduction for Regan's tastes.
She says that when she brought her young teenage daughter to the launch party for Jameson's current best seller, "How to Make Love Like a Porn Star," the daughter gushed about how cool Strauss was in person. "I told him, 'Don't you try that stuff with my 13-year-old,' " Regan laughed. "I will slit your throat."
http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix.htm
I do recall Dave saying at the time the book ws halted, that the book would be very upsetting to his family, especially his father. Of course, there's NO mention of that in this Post item, typical shoddy New York Post 'reporting'.

Thank you very much Itanja for posting that.
It did suddenly dawn on me that she had something to do with Howard Stern's book, and I love Howard Stern. I just don't read tabloids, I used to get most of my news gossip stuff from his show! :D
"flaky behaviour" O.o That is I suppose a laughable newspaper article. Flaky behaviour indeed, whatever constitutes flaky behaviour..I supposed it can be anything you choose it to be.
I am suddenly feeling that I have to be careful what I write on here! :(
I guess because I am so opinionated and usually outspoken, but I don't want to mess up anything. Self-restraint.
Going to have a coffee, play around with my guitar...
Thanks again Itanja. Hugs xxxx Lisa

Hey Tex
It's all good, the insurance people are dealing with it,
the girl who caused the crash was pregnant, she was so shaken i thought she was going to go into labour, she couldn't apologise enough.luckily she and her child to be we're ok and i'm thankful for that, our car may be a write off though.
Thanks for the concern, could have been worse.
BTW anyone learing to play guitar NEVER GIVE UP,it takes time and patience, learn from books, instructional videos, listen to music, pick up tips from anyone you know who play's.Little by little you'll build up some knowledge and the fret board will start to make sense.
Sometimes limitations can help you create a sound of your own, then as skills get better your sound improves.
Having said that wouldn't it be great to upgrade the brain MATRIX style with guitar skills and say "I KNOW ROCK"lol
