Will Spread For Unicorns
So, today is a full day again. We are finally going back into our rehearsal space after a long week off. I apologize that I am unable to get to the questions today, but I must say that I am so impressed with the way you have all been so supportive and helpful to one another. Such an incredible vibe here. Pony and Paper, I have been there too. Paper, your choice of being there for the others is really the best way out of a funk. Nice going. Pony, every artist doubts him or herself. Just keep moving like a shark. If we artists stop swimming, we will drown in our own self manifested insecurities. All I can tell you is that things get easier as you move on. Deena's quote has helped out through many times as I find it not only to be true, but exceptionally funny. By the way, Deena, who said that originally?
"The greater the artist, the greater the doubt. Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize."
I can't tell you how many people have stopped me to say how rad that is when I wear that sweatshirt.
Here are some of the answers that are quick and easy as I am already late: My favorite Beatles album is a tie between Revolver and the White Album. As for rocking with Michael Jackson, it was a really cool experience. He was very kind and humble. The G'n'R feud? Crap. I always thought they were amazing. It was just a different time back then. It was more than likely a mutual jealousy more than anything. The following lyrics: " I wanna taste your saliva, I wish that you were my daughter, I wish that I was your father, we could keep secrets." The best way I can put it is, when you are so in lust, you almost want to go dark and wrong. It was a metaphor believe me! (I should have chosen a new paragraph for this.)
Have a beautiful day, I will check in later as I am always all "amped up" after rehearsal.

Wahey! Im first!!
There's so many fans on here from all around the world, and we hear talk of CFR all the time however we can't listen to it because it's very impractical. I stayed up once to listen to a show and loved every minute. As die-hard a fan as i am it just won't work at that time around my work and i imagine it's the same for others.
If anyone could record and archive the shows on the web, it really would be fantastic...
Or maybe we should put together a online petition and pesent it to 103.1 indie, so they can archive the shows on there website?
Give me some feedback guys (by email), if people are interested then i'll hook up like an online guestbook thing for you all to sign.
Cheers, Rob

Thanks dave. I shall keep swimming. And thank you to everyone in the family for being there for me.
I will hopefully be striding like a horse in a few days from now. Just have to get my hooves cleaned off.

Good Morning Dave...Good Morning Community!
Have an awesome day back with TPC today Dave! I finally got a chance to watch the G-Phoria awards..very funny homage to the Star Wars Kid...you nailed it! And the follow-up skit was hilarious. Also...doesn't it hurt when you pull
on your nipple rings like that? Damn...it sure looks like it would!
Rob...I'm with you...I am rarely able to listen to CFR at that particular time on Saturday so, I would love to hear it archived somewhere!
Anthony, Paperdove...(((hugs))) to you both. I'm hoping that you each have an outstanding week this week. I think you are both quite special and hate to see you hurting.
Luiz...how are you??? Hope things are looking brighter for you this week, too.
Caitlin...you're right, great message...EVERYONE BE SURE TO VOTE!
OK...off my soapbox...have a wonderful Monday, Family! :D

Good day Dave and Company! Dave, I was thinking if you guys decide to start putting out merch for The Panic Channel that the new logo would make a wicked belt buckle! Food for thought, at least. I was wondering, that if one were to send you a picture to have autographed, would you oblige, and if so, what address would we send it to? Hope you have a great rehearsal! Everyone take care and enjoy your day. -Brad

Dave,
Thanks for clearing up those lyrics and whoever brought it up, good question, I was wondering the same thing myself.
A friend of mine told me that you were either learning how or had learned how to project yourself or an image of yourself and visit people in their dreams. Is there any truth to this?
I only ask because I almost never dream, or atleast remember my dreams, and on the rare occation that I do, they are lucid dreams where I am still asleep and know that I am dreaming and then change the dream however I see fit. However, last night I have the first vivd dream, when I didn't know I was dreaming until I woke up, that I had had in about five years and you were in it. It wasn't about you, but you were just randomly there and it was cool. I know another person who has had the same thing happen. He almost never dreams either, but he has had multiple vivid dreams where you are just randomly there, hanging out with him. If there is any truth to this, thank you and please keep doing it. I like having vivid dreams. I had them when I was little, and now I miss them.

just saw the flim fahrenheit 911 the other day and was wondering if you saw it and what your thoughts were about george bush being portrayed the way he was. It was amazing the amount of video footage michael moore was able to scrounge up.. seems like a cool guy..
Another question: Im a big classic movie fan, what's one of your all time favorite films?

If you have the time to indulge a fellow guitar player, then I have some gear questions...
What are some of the pedals that you are frequenting for the PC project and are you using the same effects for the new project that you have used in the past?
What kind of Wah have you been using lately.

Aloha and goodmorning one and all .. you too, Dave :)
Twisted Angel, I wanted to address your question about "dream travel". Native South Pacific cultures have practiced this for centuries, though it's not something that's commonly 'discussed' and, since the introduction of Christianity, it's rarely spoken of at all. I don't know about other cultures or practices, but I can tell you that it takes discipline, focus, belief, and it's completely exhausting. The most common 'dream visitor' would be the 'man or woman of the night dream' who comes to make love to you. I know several who have experienced that particular encounter and all say it's one of the most erotic experiences they've had. I'd be happy to talk to you more in detail if you wish, just drop me an email.
Dave, if this is something you're studying or practicing, I'd be very interested to hear of your experiences and to know what practice you are following.

Hey
I suppose I jus need to get all of this out.
On sat I was doin fun things and enjoyin myself the highlight of my day was listening to camp freddy radio and chattin to the 6767 family.
But I totally forgot that it was indeed the first anniversary of my cousin david’s death.
I feel so angry at myself for forgettin this, and I feel angry at how he was taken away from us. ( http://www.theindychannel.com/news/2393541/detail.html )
I only met him once when he came to visit from the usa back to his real home london, I drove around all day today just visiting his old school his old house and where we shared so many happy moments together.
Just want to take the time and just say that he is missed and that im sincerely sorry for forgetting.
I don’t do the whole emotions thing with my family as we each deal with things alone, so I feel this is the only place I can let loose.
Thanks all

Twisted Angel -
When I was a child, I used to have "dreams" that involved astral projection on occasion and I also had dreams that fortold future events...quite accurately.
This no longer happens, unfortunately. I was told by a Psychologist that this is probably because children's minds are much more open to this type of experience.
Actually, on the dreams coming true part...that may be kinda scary at this point, it's probably just as well...and that fear is probably why it doesn't happen any more.

Hi guys,
I e-mailed this to Twisted Angel, but thought others may be interested; I've had the odd 'weird' Dave dream and have posted them on my site: http://www.idreamofcelebs.net
If anyone wants to have a go at interpreting any of them; that would be cool :D

Ha Ha...."Will spread for unicorns" would be a hot shirt...Id wear it for sure!!!!! Peace n' Love to the "fam".......How was practice Papi??? So r u amped up? Would love to hear about it!!
Posted by: ceechica at August 9, 2004 01:45 PM
I would totally wear a shirt that would say "will spread for unicorns" lol...and i would feel like i'm in on something lol...i'd wear it with a smirk lol.
and i love the mob referencing here...i used to live in mafia central (howard beach, NY...home of John Gotti lol) and let me tell you...those people are tight. i remember when gotti got aquitted (the first time around...i believe 2nd he wasn't and was sent to jail) there were so many fireworks going off in celebration, it looked like daylight outside. yeah...so i see how they have each other's backs...i liked that analogy.
i've always personally liked the lyrics of "i want to taste your saliva...etc." i don't know why...maybe cause they struck something dark in me and i kind of liked getting in touch with that part of me...who knows?
anyways...have a happy monday everyone!

Hey Dave,
Been living in the La Brea/Melrose area for many years now and you know, I got my favorite Hollywood bums and crazies. I'm sure some of the kids reading this would dig to hear about the Sunset Blvd Army guy, the late Hollywood Button Lady, the dude outside Manns with the radio/styrofoam/plant contraption on his head. One of my favs was the Lava Rock Lady (not homeless, just very eccentric)who lived about 2 blocks from me, now she's gone. We got a guy that always sleeps by Highland and Melrose that wears white or pink tights. There is a full on kook in Beverly Hills with black tights, a radio and roller skates. Amazes me how day after day, year after these people struggle it out on the street. Just wondering if you had any in favorite homeless that pique your interest?

Kerry / Bush
Do we really believe John Kerry would be better in office than Bush or is it that we would rather see anyone in office besides Bush. I have seen Fahrenheit 9/11 and I actually found it humorous to see how extremely left it is. Now I am not a republican or a democrate. It would be just as easy to make a movie about how bad John Kerry is and call heinz 57. God I hate election time.
Posted by: r3 at August 9, 2004 02:58 PM
i agree with r3...i can't conciously vote for kerry w/o learning more about him, just because he is not bush. as much as i dislike bush, i can't vote for kerry w/o knowing anything about him. i strongly urge people to learn about either kerry or bush before casting a vote for the lesser of two evils.
Posted by: blondimofo at August 9, 2004 03:33 PM
Yup, yep. It will be really tough for me to haul my ass out on election day and vote but you just gotta do it.
Shoot, if you REALLY wanted to you could write somebody in. But go and vote for somebody.
Posted by: ONEIDAfish at August 9, 2004 03:47 PM
I really don't like politicians, they make fake promise's during election time and when they get in power they behave like they own the whole planet.
Posted by: steve L at August 9, 2004 03:55 PM
Tiare - Thanks for the info! I think that stuff is really interesting. It's so cool that people can actually do that. Now I want to learn how!
Cori - I used to have dreams that would come true too. I would get so excited when it happened because I thought I was phychic or something. What you said about children's minds makes a lot of sence because children see ghost and other things that supposedly don't exist in out realm.
Sophia - Thanks for the site, I love hearing about dreams. I find them to be realy interesting. I wish I could interperate them, but I don't know how.

Kia ora, Dave .. Tiare, again .. I have two questions..
1 - I've hit the "Channel the Panic" link, and that's a great intro ..but is that all? I was just wondering if I missed something LOL .. and
B - I was wondering if you've listened to any kinds of cultural music (derived from a specific culture such as South Pacific Islands, Native Alaskans, Native Americans, etc) and if so, are there any 'sounds' you think you might like to incorporate into your own stuff?
Twisted Angel - You're very welcome. I'll be happy to try to answer anything I can, but remember, anything I tell you comes from a very distinct place and does not hold true for all cultures or practices.

Is Jane's a sore subject to talk about Dave? Cause you don't seem to answer any Jane's questions..like are there any left over tunes from "Strays" and will we get to hear them?
I'm sorry and I don't mean to be a nag, I'm just a big fan and very curious. Thanks for your time.

"Will Spread for Unicorns"... Hell yeah... I would sooo wear a shirt like that and I'd totally love freaking out the locals in the process! ;) LOL The joys of living in a small southern town... (Notice the sarcasm there? LOL)
"The greater the artist, the greater the doubt. Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize."
"If we artists stop swimming, we will drown in our own self manifested insecurities."
Both quotes are brilliant... No truer words have been spoken...
Twisted Angel... about the dream travel or "dream walking", as I've learned to call it... Yes, it happens. For some it's something they can do at will, for others it seems to be a random thing. I am a student of Native American shamanism... Dream walking seems to be, from what I've learned so far, fairly common within those traditions. Similar to Out of Body Experiences... but different.
As for Lucid Dreaming... the dreams that seem like reality and can be manipulated by the dreamer... there's several good books on that subject in print. I'd suggest doing a search for that term on Google and on Amazon.com...
Premonitory dreams... dreaming of future events that actually end up happening... I have those myself. Recently, a series of dreams I'd been having since early January actually happened over the course of a weekend. Imagine three days of solid deja vu, and you'll kinda know how that feels. LOL
Feel free to drop me some email if you want to talk about this further. I don't know everything about this stuff, but I'm willing to share my own experiences. Maybe that will end up answering your questions to some degree.
So Dave... Are you amped up? :) How was rehearsal today?
Peace,
Tim

Well thank you Rob, because now I've learned something today! :) I never knew who originally said the quote but now I know it was Robert Hughes. Lisa R. from the Spread list saw it on the wall by a co-worker's desk, and added it to the list of quotes that were being voted on at the time for the shirts. Needless to say, it was chosen over the other quotes, hands down. We all found it to be really inspiring, and yes, somewhat humorous. I also get questioned about it by strangers all the time.
Speaking of shirts, I'm loving the quotes flying around here... the unicorn one is good, "if we artists stop swimming, we will drown in our own self manifested insecurities" is pretty profound, but Rob, I think you've written the most awesome quote of the day, "It's Bigfoot without any feet, and without big feet he is no-one."
I think we could all probably philosophize about that for hours...

So Dave...you've been out investigating unsolved mysteries in your spare time....got any good leads?? lol
Hope the rehearsal went well...hope to hear all about it. (and some sneak peaks!!! ...please???)
Anyway...thats about it!
PS. Sandy, i am so sorry for your loss. I truely hope you feel better, and remember, that he wouldn't want you to feel so bad. *HUGS* talk to ya later!

I read every post, everyday and wanted to say, sorry for the hard times some of you are having, I'll get too sad if I say too much, but much love to all of you.
Dave, glad to hear you are having a good time and enjoying what you do best. It gives a warm feeling when you say inspirational things to musicians and other artists who look up to you, and benefit from your wisdom and experience.
I've always thought you were an old soul with a young heart. You appear to be an optimistic person, and you "spread" your optimism and love for the art.
What was your vision of this website before it started to evolve? What do you think of it now, and what things would you like to see happen here in the future?
Posted by: Cynthia at August 9, 2004 09:26 PM
Is that quote from Robert Hughes, the art critic & author?
If it's the same RH, he had an excellent show on PBS many years ago, about the history of art.
