Sleep

blueHere are a few quick ones before bedtime...

1. Do you keep in touch with Eric anymore?

Yes, I do. In fact, I spoke to him just a week or so ago. He was on tour with Alanis. He seems very happy and we plan to get together soon, possibly to jam for old time's sake.

2. Any particular reason for bats Dave? I mean I know the PC logo has been commented on as being a bit "goth"... :)

Not really. In fact, when I was getting them done I even commented on how nice it was to be getting some work that didn't "mean" anything. I just thought they looked good. As for the goth thing, well, goth is always good.

3. Dave, what's your favorite VU w/ Nico song?

All Tomorrow's Parties. I actually played it a few times live with Siouxsie and the Banshees. She sang it great!

4. While we're on the subject on tattoos, how would you feel if I were to get one of the Spread logo?

All good, please enjoy.

5. I was in Borders yesterday trying to preorder your book, but when I put your name and the title of the book in to the computer, it said the book was published in July 2001?

No, I held it back for a couple of years. It'll be out first week or so of October.

6. should i get a different guitar teacher?

All I'm saying is that I wouldn't want to take lessons from someone who insulted me. You could try simply expressing your feelings about what he said and moving past it first. If that doesn't work, move on. It is hard to be receptive and learn from someone who you might have a resentment with. The Beatles do rule though.

7. How come Chaney doesn't have his own site? Or does he and it's hiding somewhere?

I really don't know. He's got two kids, so perhaps he doesn't have the time or interest in the Internet. I really would love to see him fire one up.

8. Did Andy really smash your guitar?

No, that one was a prop. That happened way after I had already left.

9. Did you and Andy plan anything out before hand...like breaking the plate?

Yeah, he asked me to break the plate. That was so funny because the contestants really thought it was all real.

10. Dave I've read somewhere that you're a big Fiona Apple fan, any chance she'll be appearing on the CF album. That would be cool!

Great idea! I will ask her for sure.

Goodnight...

Dave

Dave, I'd just like to say you have been a great inspiration to me, and I'd like to thank you for your work. You are by far one of my greatest idols and I will always be an avid fan of yours. I don't want to make this too long, so to put it simply, thank you, keep up the brilliant work!

Dave,

When did you play with Siouxsie? That's cool as hell. I bet Morrison dug that bit of info...

Goth on brother.

Whoever drew/painted/made today's picture is really good. I enjoy it.

BTW Dave, Next time you see Flea, tell him I loved him in The Big Lebowski. He makes a great nihilist! lol

Posted by: americanzer0 at August 23, 2004 11:02 PM

dave u rule!
is it true that flea is bi??????
i mean he seems very very open and he did say that he blew a guy once. is this just fleas sense of humor or is he just trying to hide his true identity?

Posted by: fmem at August 23, 2004 11:02 PM

Dave, today, after all these years, what a JA song do you still listen to and say "damn I made a hell of a song"? One that you think will be forever a classic...

Well, i have a few questions.. my mom thought it would be cool to make a collage of the photos of us from Sunday and some stuff i made of you and carmen.. since im going ot be majoring in graphic/web design... so i thought this would be my first "real" collage.. i would really like you to have it .. but how would i beable to give it to you? and.. Do you have any advice for me about writing my own music? I'm going to be recordng a demo in my dads friends professional recording studio in June.. and i thought it would be better to write my own stuff.. but im clueless when it comes to that.. any advice or tips? any would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys

just a quick note to say that this weekend or next week I will be volunteering at the Covenant House in hollywood making and serving food for the homeless, and if any of you out there in LA would like to join me and make it a little 6767.com/Panic Agency event just send a shout out- mortisha8@yahoo.com

PS: that first anonymous poster has to be Dave

Hey Dave, i just want to clear up the argument....

I am your biggest fan.

So if i come to LA, can i stay at your place? your couch looks comfortable.

Posted by: Six7Six7 at August 24, 2004 12:04 AM

OK, a serious question....

what do you think of Ken Andrews? (Failure, On, Year of the Rabbit)

I have never heard him make a bad album. Have you ever worked with him? ever want to?

Posted by: Six7Six7 at August 24, 2004 12:06 AM

Dave, I recently got Trust No One and it is so meaningful to me. Your lyrics regarding the loss in your life are so heartfelt, and are helping me through a difficult loss in my own life. Thank you for recording it.

Yeah...today's art is great! Who did that one?? Hehehehe...you and perk were so funny on Andy Dick's show! Those girls were so giddy about it (who wouldn't be) ;)

Where did you go to get the tat in Vegas??

Posted by: Abby at August 24, 2004 12:21 AM

wow lol i always saw this website and thought it was some weird fanatic pretending to be dave navarro hahah sounds silly i guess but im sure people do it. well i guess it is you. im not going to be a nutcase and flood your comments with me saying how much i love you and all haha but i do :) you and carmen are great. your so good to her :) take care

Couple things before bed...

First... I'm seriously hating not having cable. :( Gonna have to see if my future roommate in Chicago will cach the Andy Dick thing on rerun and tape it for me...

Second... I love the artwork for this post! My favorite color, too. :) This one might just end up being wallpaper on my computer...

Dave... Someone else that'd be great on the CF album would be Mark McGrath. I know he's done some shows with CF in the past, so maybe he'd be down for guesting on the album...

Manda... as far as writing goes... stick with what you know.

Maria... if I was in or near LA, I'd be down there to help out in a heartbeat. But I will be there in spirit. :)

Oh yeah... and I think you're right about that first post... LOL

Much love and respect to teh Family and Dave...

Peace,
Tim/Panic Agent Nitewing

Dave, thanks ever so much for answering my questions, especially for your thoughtful answer about the guitar lessons. It's not playing the Beatles that's the problem, it's a lack of rapport. I'm open about expressing myself, and he's already shrugged me off before. Have a feeling I'll move on, but I'll try to settle things with him first. It caught me off guard that I got so insulted really, or that I was being insulted.

Just how many songs have you guys written!? Judging by Steve I's posts, quite a few. How do you know when it's time to stop writing new material and whittle down what you've written to an albums worth of material? In a previous interview some years back you mentioned that some songs that ended up on Ritual were written before Nothings Shocking and weren't released on NS 'cos you felt they'd fit better on a follow up album. Is it likely that you will do the same with the new band? Did the same thing occur with the writing of Strays as I read somewhere that you wrote in the region of twenty songs for that record? Lots of questions but if I don't ask them now I'll forget to ask in future!!

Here's some of my blast from the past~when I was a college radio DJ, I called my show, "The Ever-Hyperbolic Experiment", and I loved the Cult, and opened the show every time with their song, "She's Sells Sanctuary." When I saw them in concert in NYC, I screamed like a Banshee.
Dave, can you tell Morrison that please, if you remember~I know we all tell you tons of stuff on here! :D
Good to see him with you.
Love Lisa xxxx,( yet again!)

Wonderful artwork Deena! I see that you colourized it.

If anyone is interested in seeing more of Deena's beautiful paintings & sketches of Dave, go to her Dave site.

http://members.tripod.com/~tno13/artgallery.html

Deena: Hope you don't mind me posting your link, but it's wonderful to see some 'old school' non-computer generated art. Makes me want to get the sketchpad, charcoal pencils, Conté crayons, paint & canvas out~~!

Again, such beautiful work, Deena! Please send in more.

Take care,
itanja

Wow, Deena's artwork is really really nice!
It looks just like the pictures. You're truly talented, Deena, I'm envious :)

Dave: You say you're a net freak. What kind of sites do you frequent, besides this one?

Take care, everyone.
Of yourself, and your loved ones.

Hey Dave, hey friends

Back on the subject of "Bat-tats" *giggles*

I have been reading some stuff on Native American symbolism...and the bat is seen, from what I understand, as a symbol of "Re-birth"....

I think that's pretty cool!

I also found this little poem, which I hope you don't mind me sharing:

Sacred Bat...flew to me,
From the darkness of the cave.
Womb-like reflections,
Answers it gave.
Birth, death, rebirth,
Cycles of the whole...
Never-ending,
just eclipsed,
The journey of the soul.

And on that note...i'll leave you

Peace out

Great site, but please, change the colors! The contrast of the light grey font on the black background makes it difficult, if not nearly impossible to read.

Hey Dave and everyone!

I was just wondering what is the current state of your relationship with Perry? Is there a great deal of resentment between him and you, Stephen and Chris or did the break-up of JA happen in somewhat harmony?

I truly hope from the bottom of my heart that you don't feel offended by my asking this, and please don't answer if you feel the time is too soon or otherwise inappropriate.

You and everyone in here keep on amazing me from day to day with your kindness and good spirit!

Love,

Pekka

I'll keep this short. My question for Dave is...How do you feel about fans or guys you see on the street that look like you?

I know someone who looks exactly like Dave 'just because' he does!!! He met Dave last year and it seemed that he might have been freaked out!!! Just wondering. Thanks!

Posted by: Rose at August 24, 2004 07:51 AM

have you ever learned classical guitar? if so, did it help? how? if not, why did you think it wasn't worth the time/effort?

Posted by: Bo at August 24, 2004 07:53 AM

hey "family"

how are you all today?

Luiz, its strange you mentioned vampire the masquerade, cause i actually play the role playing game. iv also heard that apparently NIN also plays it, but i dont know for sure.

Dave, i was wondering, i read(i think it was in Spin magazine but i could be mistaken) that you remember about 5 minutes of recording Ritual. if this is true, how does it feel to have these huge gaps in your memory. i imagine it to be a pretty crazy feeling.

anyway all, i hope your well, party hard!

dont do anything i wouldnt do. and if you do then name it after me!

Posted by: Kyle at August 24, 2004 07:53 AM

did you go see Eric A, Flea, and Frusciante jam a few months ago? have you heard the recordings? what did you think?

Posted by: Bo at August 24, 2004 07:55 AM

sorry about the 3 straight posts. I just got curious today.

What do you think of all the Frusciante releases this year? do you like them? have you heard them?

Posted by: Bo at August 24, 2004 07:55 AM

last one. I heard that Perry didn't authorize this 'Whores' book that is coming out. There is a lot of trashing of the cover going on. what are your thoughts? do you think it should have an older pic with all the original members? do you care? did you authorize it?

Posted by: Bo at August 24, 2004 07:57 AM

Thanks for answering my question! You and perk did such a great job on that show last night...i LOVED it. i plan to watch it again lol.

ahhhh!! i just saw that my sister posted on the last post (she signed it Emily's Sister) lol...she's trying to get me dave tickets for my birthday cause notfornothing.net says that camp freddy is coming to nyc on oct 21...hopefully that's true lol.

anyways...i have to go now...just a short post (well short for me anyway) to say hi to everyone

lots of love

Good Tuesday morning fam....

A couple of things. I have been reading the posts and have been confused a bit. Some pictures of Manda with Dave ?, talk of other sites that have no weblinks ?, other such musings that I am clueless as to where to go to get more of a feel for the communiity. Maybe a site could be developed with links to more of the 6767 community sites...

WAIT, now there's an inspiration for a new website...

More to come in the days ahead.. but be ready to be taken on a trip.. to the outer reaches of the galazy... No that's been done before.. ok just be prepared for a blackholetonowhere and on the way.. a stop at Planet 6767.

In all seriousness.. this place is soo inspirational.. to chat with the 6767 fam is soo inspirational and to hear from Dave, from this site and his music, is soo inspirational.

Thank you family...

THANK YOU DAVE!!

Peace and Respect,

BH (Panic Agent 92562)

Dave, are you going to the Ramones' 30th anniversary party?

Posted by: americanzer0 at August 24, 2004 08:54 AM

dave,

i heard that flea said he had to pick up a guitar during the ohm record. he said something to the point of that you were not as creative as with the chili's than with jane's...? i wanted to know if flea came up with some guitar riffs for the record or what happened?

i don't mean to bust your balls. i like your music alot and worship your music. ha, ha
the solo in walkabout is awesome though!

by the way did you ever read the da vinci code book? if not you should check it out

peace and thanks so much for your time,
trevor

I like the idea of people sharing their art work on this site. Personally I'm a pretty good artist myself but I've been going through kind of a block lately. When I draw some new stuff pertaining to this site I'll be sure to share it with you all.

Good morning fellow 6767-ers.

Damn! I forgot "the Assistant" would be on, but its MTV so it will be a repeat for the next week. The artwork is fabulous today. Props to the one the is responsible. Oh and I agree about the tattoo should be with Dave involved. I think its makes sense.

Oh. Hey isnt Dave gonna be in vegas again this weekend playing with Tommy? Oh, and for those of you who requested a picture of the Jane's star. I have that tattoo, and a pic of it. So for those who want a pic of the star please email me and I will send it to you. I FINALLY got a digital camera.
Have a groovy day everyone!

i hear chris is trackin' with shakira in vancouva.

dave, when you see bands like apc, audioslave, velvet revolver, i.e. morphs of other bands, have the kind of success they have, does that give you guys added confidence in what you're doing? because...

kashmir with maynard from Portland last year sounds really good. i hope a copy of that makes it onto a soundtrack or something. Maybe on an 'Oust Bush' album this fall. And if you ever collaborated with Maynard, I know cool tunes would be the result.

2 things, first don't change the background here, I find it easier than most sights to read, especially late at night :o)

The other thing, on people who look like you...long before I'd heard of you I met my husband, who is quite similiar, late last night he came out of the bathroom, he had been shaving, but more what I would call "sculpting" and needless to say, I got no sleep last night...funny thing is, he didn't even have you in mind, and I know I shouldn't have but.......
