Airport
Well, I finally found a computer here in Miami. What a crazy couple of days! I am really looking forward to a restful Monday at home. Vegas was a blast. Although none of the "rockers" won, it was good to see the money go to a contestant. The three of us had decided to give the money to charity if for some odd reason, one of us won. I also got a new tattoo from my boy Thomas at the Hart and Hunington tattoo shop at the Palms Hotel. It reads, "Don't Try This At Home." Great work, I'll have a picture up soon. I flew out to Miami on Saturday and hit the awards on Sunday. Later, Carmen and I threw a party at the National Hotel. It was out of control, we had to be escorted out. As I always say, "It's not a real party, unless you get escorted out." It was just too crowded and Carmen couldn't find any space to chill. We had a killer time though. Luckily, the night fell on a cheat night and room service was open! As I write this, it is 8:40 am in Miami. I haven't slept yet and I am sitting at the computer terminal in the lobby of the National Hotel, waiting to get a ride to the airport. I was thinking about playing in a tournament at the Hustler Casino when I got home, but it is starting to look very unlikely. Anyway, I have missed being able to check in but I have stayed updated on the activity from my sidekick. As far as the questions and conversations go, it's your call. If you want to start a new place, it's all good, if not, this place is yours. As long as this is home, I support whatever you choose to do. Hell, I support you even if it isn't. I love reading all the posts, related and unrelated...
I'm gonna get me some sleep on that plane...
Peace My Friends,
Dave

Off To The Shiny Town
So I am about to roll out to Vegas and Miami for a few days. I'll try to check in via Sidekick or hotel Internet.
1. Why did you leave Cry Myself To Sleep off of TNO? It seems like it would mean a lot to you.
I honestly don't know. I guess because the album was getting long and the song was never really quite finished.
2. Are you guys going to Miami for the VMAs?
Carmen is working at them and I will be out there, but I haven't decided if I am going to attend or not. I might just go to the "after" stuff.
3. I know your favorite guitar is the white prs, but may I ask what exactly makes it that special guitar for you?
The best way to describe it is that it just feels like "butter".
4. Top 3:
Well, I really only use my iPod on shuffle so it is hard to say. The last three songs that were played are:
Girl You Want: Devo
911 is a Joke: Public Enemy
Beat it up Right: Korn
5. I have a question about Til Death Do Us Part. Do you know when we'll be able to pre-order the DVD from amazon, best buy, etc.?
Last I heard it was due out in January or something like that.
6. Dave, how are Your feelings about Chili Peppers not playing anything from One Hot Minute anymore? Isn't that shitty thing?
It's all good. I love all of those guys so whatever they want to do I support.
7. Have you ever been on a leash and drank milk out of a bowl? If so, is there photo evidence?
Ha! That definitely rings a bell. No, there are no pictures.
8. How do you know when you've nailed a good solo? Is it from the reaction of others or do you know instinctively?
What usually happens is that I will try several times and end up going with the first one.
9. Do you avoid working out just after your tattoos are done? For how long?
No, I just hit it as if...
10. Whats the first thought that comes to your mind when you get pocket A's in a game of poker?
It used to be... "Damn, I've got this one!" But I have been busted so many times with pocket Aces that now, I almost worry when they show up!
Peace Out!
Dave

Again With The Cards!
I'm going Vegas again tomorrow... God, I love that town, and then on to Miami. I will be on somewhat of a vacation for a few days. Anyway, I have gotten a little behind so let me kick a few answers tonight and I'll start up again tomorrow. By the way, this does mean that I will be out again for Camp Freddy Radio, but as always, the boys will keep you plenty entertained. Oh, and by the way, it has been reported several times in different places that Carmen and I are doing a sex book. As great as it sounds, it is simply not true. These "sources" must be confused about DTTAH. I am also happy to see that the jam is not lost and forgotten, not to forget how great all the artwork you guys have been sending in has been. I really love this one.
1. Hey Dave, just wondering if you still have that picture of the Vietcong being executed hanging in your home?
No, that was in the old house. It was actually a tribute to the movie, Stardust Memories, where Woody Allen's character had the same image put up in his home after a rough breakup.
2. Dave, I just read that Carmen is writing a book? Is that true?
No, not yet. I don't even think she has any plans to at this time.
3. Firstly is it OK for my band to cover one of your songs off TNO for a school's band night? And if it is, at a later date would you listen too it on the web and give your honest opinion on it?
Of course, I'd love to hear it.
4. By the way, what is up with all the media whore celebrity crap?
It's a long story, but Paris and I made this bet and, well, so far she is in the lead. Seriously, I just enjoy embracing the opportunities that life holds. I'm not much for shying away from things I want to do because of what someone's reaction might be. I enjoy working with people, having experiences and playing music. It's just that simple.
5. Pagan ceremony or traditional wedding?
We went traditional.
6. Dave I was reading in a web pay that it spoke of your book and it says that your you were violated by the man that I raise you. That is truth?
I was held at gunpoint for a while, handcuffed and locked in a closet. Here is the thing, he didn't raise me. He was my mother's boyfriend. I owe my life and my upbringing to her and my father.
7. Dave, have you saved the files from the old 6767.com?
No, I wish I did though. That place was just insane.
8. Do you get nervous before going on stage, and if so how do you deal with it?
No, not really. I get more nervous walking into a dental office.
9. I've seen that Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale of Bush were at your wedding....are you friend with them?
No, they just showed up! Can you believe that? j/k - Gwen and Carmen are friends and I have known Gavin for years. Great couple, sweet and attractive. We were happy they attended.
10. I was wondering if anything in particular in San Francisco inspired Iris?
I think it was just the trip, the time and how we felt being alive and free, roaming the streets...
Goodnight,
Dave

Right after this shot was taken, I turned my head abruptly and got sliced in the face by the needle.

Lucky For Me
Fortunately, my forensic science friend, Emily Proctor from CSI: Miami, quickly diagnosed the situation as being nothing more than a superficial scratch that would easily heal in a week or two. We are still waiting for my blood work to come back from the lab.

Awake
Good morning. Nothing much to report today. We are still waiting for Steve's computer to be up and running. He is handling so much of the art and web design, not to mention singing and writing. What a motivated guy. Once he is back online, we can pick up with all of the content and Agency stuff.
1. When did you play with Siouxsie? That's cool as hell.
A couple of times on the 1991 Lollapalooza tour.
2. Is it true that flea is bi??????
I have never seen evidence of that. He has never come on to me. If he is, then I feel a little insulted!
3. what do you think of Ken Andrews? (Failure, On, Year of the Rabbit)
He is the s@#t. I almost did TNO with him. Very cool guy and extremely talented.
4. How do you know when it's time to stop writing new material and whittle down what you've written to an albums worth of material?
Well, we kind of want to have 20 to choose from, but we also are thinking about putting out several EP's over the course of a year instead of waiting for a full LP. We really haven't decided yet.
5. I heard that flea said he had to pick up a guitar during the ohm record. He said something to the point of that you were not as creative as with the chili's than with Jane's...?
I really wasn't. I guess that is one of the reasons it didn't work out that great. I mean, we became great friends and had a terrific time, but musically, we just came from different places.
6. Dave, when you see bands like apc, audioslave, velvet revolver, i.e. morphs of other bands, have the kind of success they have, does that give you guys added confidence in what you're doing?
Well, I feel a kinship of sorts. Ultimately, it makes me wonder if there was as much animosity and resentment directed at those bands as there is at us.
7. Just wondering if you ever listen to the One Hot Minute record and if so, what's your favorite track off of it?
I still love Warped.
8. Do you have any advice for me about writing my own music?
As someone else posted, and I agree, just write what you know and love. Approach your writing with fearlessness and conviction.
9. Dave... Someone else that'd be great on the CF album would be Mark McGrath. I know he's done some shows with CF in the past, so maybe he'd be down for guesting on the album...
Last I heard he is in for a cover of Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak.
10. how does it feel to have these huge gaps in your memory?
It is odd. Sometimes I wish I could remember certain things, other times, I am glad that I can't!
Beautiful Day,
Dave

Sleep
Here are a few quick ones before bedtime...
1. Do you keep in touch with Eric anymore?
Yes, I do. In fact, I spoke to him just a week or so ago. He was on tour with Alanis. He seems very happy and we plan to get together soon, possibly to jam for old time's sake.
2. Any particular reason for bats Dave? I mean I know the PC logo has been commented on as being a bit "goth"... :)
Not really. In fact, when I was getting them done I even commented on how nice it was to be getting some work that didn't "mean" anything. I just thought they looked good. As for the goth thing, well, goth is always good.
3. Dave, what's your favorite VU w/ Nico song?
All Tomorrow's Parties. I actually played it a few times live with Siouxsie and the Banshees. She sang it great!
4. While we're on the subject on tattoos, how would you feel if I were to get one of the Spread logo?
All good, please enjoy.
5. I was in Borders yesterday trying to preorder your book, but when I put your name and the title of the book in to the computer, it said the book was published in July 2001?
No, I held it back for a couple of years. It'll be out first week or so of October.
6. should i get a different guitar teacher?
All I'm saying is that I wouldn't want to take lessons from someone who insulted me. You could try simply expressing your feelings about what he said and moving past it first. If that doesn't work, move on. It is hard to be receptive and learn from someone who you might have a resentment with. The Beatles do rule though.
7. How come Chaney doesn't have his own site? Or does he and it's hiding somewhere?
I really don't know. He's got two kids, so perhaps he doesn't have the time or interest in the Internet. I really would love to see him fire one up.
8. Did Andy really smash your guitar?
No, that one was a prop. That happened way after I had already left.
9. Did you and Andy plan anything out before hand...like breaking the plate?
Yeah, he asked me to break the plate. That was so funny because the contestants really thought it was all real.
10. Dave I've read somewhere that you're a big Fiona Apple fan, any chance she'll be appearing on the CF album. That would be cool!
Great idea! I will ask her for sure.
Goodnight...
Dave

Home Again
Just got home from Vegas. I got tattooed at the shop in the Palms Casino... Two bats, one on either shoulder. I will upload images when I get them from Steve I. I also met Manda and her family which was really nice. It was great to feel a little 67 love out there. I played a lot of cards in the poker room at the Palms where I did quite well. I had fun though. This way, I was still in good spirits. I'll check in tomorrow as I need my rest. I didn't get much of that in Vegas.
Goodnight,
Dave

"Vegas, Baby!"
Good morning. I am off today for Vegas to tape the next season of CPS. I am playing this time for Cure Autism Now. Obviously, I will be out for this week's Camp Freddy Radio, but I know that Donovan and Billy will have a killer show for you. I will be away from my computer for a couple of days but I will check in and read up on what's going on via Sidekick. I love what's going on here. You guys rule!
1. Do you know or ever played with local LA guy Coyote Shivers? Also ever done anything with Shifty formerly of CrazyTown? I have met him a few times & he mentioned he likes how you rip shit up.
I know them both but only Shifty has joined Camp Freddy for a version of The Clash's Should I Stay.
2. I feel like I have hole in MY personality. How did you pass by this episode?
For me, it was all about self acceptance instead of self criticism. Things do change with time.
3. Would it be OK if I used "sunny day" or "the bed" for the background music for my xanga website?
Yes, it is OK.
4. I hear a huge Killing Joke vibe in Dirge.
Yeah, Eric and I were heavily influenced by Killing Joke.
5. I'm thinking Dave's just gonna order plain black coffee... :D
That's right Cori!
6. Dave, do you keep your notes, and little scribbles, fan letters, etc.
I am very streamlined. I don't like having too much stuff. We do an annual Good Will clean up around here. Clothes, furniture and stuff like that. I don't like owning stuff I don't use or won't need.
7. Dave, how much make up do you wear at big occasions like the VMAs, etc.
Not much if any. Perhaps a little powder to "de-shine", a touch of liner or mascara. I go through phases. Sometimes I'm into it, other times it seems like a drag.
8. I feel free to share about my drug experiences here although I want to make a point to say that they are past drug experiences and I would not recommend drugs.
Amen. I share a lot about my experiences in my book, but only to illustrate the destructive nature they have had in my life.
9. A few days ago someone asked if Carmen still left coke cans everywhere - I do that too!
She certainly does!
10. Happy Birthday R.P. and Renato, my prayers are with you too.
Off to Vegas,
DN

Soul Mover
Yesterday was killer! I rolled into the studio and worked with Glenn and Chad for a while. His album is really amazing. It kind if has a harder Lenny Kravitz vibe to it. We later sat around and shared old stories. Whenever I get around Chad, it is like no time has gone by. He is as great a guy as he is a drummer. When I get the mix, I'll ask Glenn if I can post a clip of it here.
1. What exactly are you recording with them? A track for a movie/commercial? Tribute album?
It was a track for the new Glenn Hughes album called Soul Mover. Chad played drums on the whole thing and it is slamming!
2. Flea said that he wrote a lot of OHM on acoustic guitar, and that he wasn't very good at guitar. Just curious how true that statement is.
That is true with one exception, Flea is a kick ass guitarist.
3. Since you are in the studio with Chad do you think you could ask him if he has a copy of Circle of Noose cos ive been dying to hear it since you mentioned it on here a month or so ago.
Sorry, he doesn't have it. Must be one of those "lost episode" type things.
4. menioned VH recently...are you a Sammy or Dave (or Gary) guy?
DLR!!!!!!!
5. Do you feel there is a big personality difference in yourself when your sober versus on drugs?
Yeah. Fear versus faith. It'll make sense if you think about it.
6. I was just wondering if it would be all right if I used Hungry as music for my website? Just trying to get around any copyright issues.
It's all you baby!
7. Dave, would you consider having a webcam say in the studio?
Absolutely. We have already discussed it. We want you guys "in" from the ground floor.
8. I don't know if you can answer this Dave, but how much of that show is staged and how much is just Andy? Sometimes it's hard to tell. (Assistant)
Here is the thing they don't play up well enough on the show. The contestants all think it's real. That is the funny part. Everything else is totally a joke.
9. Dave, ThereIs Alot Of Gossip About Your Quote Where You Say You Are "Intouch with both your masculine and feminine sides". We Obivously Know You Like Women But On Some Chats I Hear Alot Of Rumors To This Quote..... Are You Interested In Just Women? Or More?
Well, I guess I meant that I am in touch with MY masculine and feminine sides, as for others, I am only in touch with the feminine sides!
10. what do you mean when you said " the sugar never help" in the song rexall
Nothing made the situation at the time taste any sweeter.
Love to all,
Dave

Deep Pepper
Today I have a recording session with Chad Smith and Glenn Hughes, bassist for Deep Purple in the mid 1970's. It should be a blast. I haven't recorded with Chad in years. I am very excited about rocking with my long time friend again. I'll let you know how it goes. The track is like a 70's rock meets Rage Against the Machine vibe. Total Smith style. Here are a few answers.
1. Wasn't this book completed BEFORE you started dating Carmen or have you actually added more chapters to this book including the past year?
Yes, it was, but I have added a chapter about where my life is now. However, the news report is wrong as we didn't write it together and it is not about our marriage, although our marriage does come up. The book is mainly about getting through the rough times and coming out the other side in a better place spiritually, emotionally and physically.
2. Any words of wisdom you could share to help get over a girl?
Let time do it's magic and pray for her happiness and the ability to let go of resentment.
3. how did you get iggy to perform with you? (w/RHCP)
Well, he came to the show as an observer and we just asked him. It was one of the most exciting nights of my life professionally, speaking.
4. Hey, since Perk will be filling in for Camp Freddy for a bit, will the other Steve be joining you guys on stage at all?
Yes, we are doing a show for NASCAR on September 4th. Steve I will be joining us.
5. I talked to Steve and we are going to try to have this chat about The Panic Agency tomorrow at 1pm PST on MSN. I don't know if you're free then, but if you are feel free to join us.
I would love to, but that recording session is today.
6. have you ever been suicidal?
Yes. You got to move through it man. I know if I had killed myself, I'd really want to kill myself. You know what I mean? I am no expert but I would seriously seek the advice of a therapist. It may not seem like it now, but life is a gift.
7. Many people claim how much of a dick Gene Simmons is to his fans. Seeing as you recorded with him, what kinda of a guy is he?
I never heard that. He was perfectly nice to me and I am a long time fan.
8. So what was it like playing on "oh my god" with guns and roses? Did you actually meet with Axl and the band or did you record your guitar parts separately on your own?
I have met him many times before, but during the session, he was not there. He and I worked via speaker phone. It was really trippy, but kind of cool in a twisted way. What a mysterious guy.
9. Dave, how does it feel to have a second guitar in the band?
It very cool. We can layer and add textures in a live situation. I definitely have more freedom.
10. I remember Anthony saying something like, "Dave didn't like this idea" about you performing with the big light bulbs on your head. I was just wondering what you thought about it in your own words because I thought the light bulbs were kind of gay too.
You know what? I did hate those things because they were so hard to play with on. Yet, somehow, I have come around since then and I am really glad we did it. The pictures from that day were hilarious!
Peace my friends,
Dave

Another Quick 10
1. Think you might work with Rich Costey for your Panic Channel stuff? He's a great producer and I love how he mixes albums.
I love Rich. He did TNO. Honestly we aren't even close to a decision yet, but his name is definitely in the hat.
2. Hey Dave, how's Carmen's coke habit?
Still going strong! (And I know what you mean. The beverage...)
3. so yes, Dave I'd like to know what you do to keep yourself inspired to play, and if you ever went through this. maybe you were just more determined than I am,
I play with as many people as I can from different walks of musical life to keep my playing continually interesting and challenging.
4. In an interview with Anthony Kiedis from 1999, someone asked him about a "cup throwing incident" in Chicago while on tour with the offspring. What happened?
Wow! I don't remember that, but I do know that Anthony is never one to take any s@#t!
5. Dave, are you ever emotional when you hear a certain song or part of a song that helps you truly understand what and how you feel, or brings you back to an event?
Oh my God, yes. It's usually a song from my childhood, one that I am unaware of until I hear it like The Carpenters or Gordon Lightfoot or Paul Williams. I instantly weep.
6. Anyway you mentioned that NIN is probably your favorite modern band, so what's your favorite NIN song and album?
Right now The Fragile is my favorite, probably because it is the most recent and I have worn out all the others. My favorite songs change though. Right now it is Reptile off Downward Spiral. Can't ever get too much Trent.
7. "Navarro: The fact of the matter is, we've been intending on finalizing this marriage for the past year. Had it not been for MTV's involvement and suggestion of the show, we may honestly still not be married at this point. We actually had to hop to it and make it happen. This forced us to clear our schedules and do the show and be married — which is awesome."
I don't know what that is from, but I what I am saying is that had it not been for the show, we would have had a hard time lining up our schedules. Due to our busy work-life, we had a hard time setting a date.
8. Could you give us a quick run-down of your gear(effects,strings,picks,ect,,)....Thanks
PRS 9 gauge, Marshall JCM 900, Boss delay, chorus, octaver, Dunlop Cry Baby, medium picks.
9. I cant help but notice the similarities between the intro of 'Ocean Size' and the intro to 'Im So Glad' have you ever met Clapton and did he ever mention the similarities?
I have met him. Very nice guy, never mentioned a similarity.
10. There is a very cool Saraswati composition on the Loop Experiment Page. Nice going!
Have a great day!
Dave

:::Brief:::
Good morning. As it turns out, Steve's computer is still in the shop getting repaired. As soon as he is up and running, we will get moving. As for all the work you guys are doing, we think it's great. In some ways you are moving faster than us, which in turn, is very inspiring. We thank you for that. I have a long day ahead so I have to make this post brief. I simply wanted to say thank you and hello. I'll get to some finer points later and the art you have sent in should be up tonight. Have a beautiful day my friends.

Sunday Morning
Last night was a lot of fun. Jimmy Fallon was really funny. It was amazing to get to speak with some of you from around the world. (South Africa, Canada and the UK) Thank you for your calls and support. Looks like I'll be out next week as I will be in Vegas taping the next season of CPS. I'll be playing for Cure Autism Now, an illness that hits close to home for my family. As for all the street team movement, all I can say is that you all rule! Thank you so much. We are really looking forward to the new site. Our little community here has really become something special. I have received an e-mail that was circulated within the industry pointing people to our site as a template for what other artist sites should be. Pretty amazing. I have been receiving your art and will be posting it soon. The talent here is unbelievable.
1. Hey Dave, who are Neil Strauss?
Neil Strauss wrote the Manson book as well as the Motley Crue book and the Jenna Jameson book. He is a very talented and well known writer that has been on staff at the New York Times and Rolling Stone for many years.
2. What if he had taken you up on your offer...would you have had the nerve to follow it all the way through???
Well, if that were the case, he would have won as I would have run for the hills.
3. I'm interested to know if the lucky number 13 thing comes from 6+7...
True, among other reasons.
4. The obvious seems to be thepanicagency.com so far, but we need your opinion.
Sounds great to me!
5. Dave, do you have access to the Photoshop documents for the TPC logo?
Yes! Send me an e-mail and I will see to it that you get them.
6. How'd that collaboration with Christina happen?
She simply called up and asked if I'd be into hearing a track to possibly play on it.
7. Dave...I was wondering if you got a surprise when I got through on CFR and you heard I was all the way from south africa? did you get a fright? how did it feel?
It was really amazing to hear from you. I also just enjoy putting voices to names.
8. Did you ever used to go to club make up back in the day in LA?
Yes, I did. In fact, I think it was either Make-up or Cherry that Carmen and I went to on our first date.
9. Hey Dave I was wondering when you were coming out to Vegas.
I think the 26th to the 28th.
10. Are you still collecting names of ppl who have volunteered to be panic agents?
We haven't set up a page yet, but as far as I call tell, if you are willing, you are in.
Have a peaceful day,
DN

CFR Saturday
So, yes, tonight is more Camp Freddy Radio on Indie 103.1. I don't know if we have a guest or not, but it will be fun. Question. Do you guys like all the talking or should we play more music? We have started kind of a half baked talk show on the air, but we wonder if people would rather hear more music and less yapping. Should we find a happier medium? It is Donovan's birthday so if you call in, be sure to wish him a happy one. Steve and I are going to get together tomorrow and figure out some kind of game plan for The Agency. We really appreciate all your enthusiasm. Please keep the art coming, the e-mail is ThePanicChannel@aol.com. I will update the artwork page soon enough. As for the experiment. I don't know how to advise. Whatever works. I'm sure something will eventually come of it. If not, we can scrap it and start over on a dedicated program like Pro-Tools or Garage Band.
1. Do you usually watch yourself on TV + if so, what are some common reactions?
Normally I don't like to, but this was a situation where I was dying to finally see what cards the other players were holding.
2. You mentioned some proceeds of your book would be given to charity, which one is it?
They will go towards the funding of hospitals and institutions for drug addiction.
3. In Manson's autobiography he said that you tried to give him head. While personally, I think that book was full of a lot of crap, which most likely includes this incident, I just thought I would clarify this with you...is it true?
Ha! The truth is that I was trying to "out-shock" the king of shock. You know what? I win!!!! He totally freaked out. It was hilarious. Navarro-1 Manson-0
4. I was wondering...what led you to do the gap ad?
Back then, they were doing this whole thing with musicians. They had me, Rollins, Aerosmith, etc... I guess it just seemed different and fun. It was.
5. What keeps you grounded?
I try to live my life with humility, love and acceptance... Doesn't always work, but I try. Thank you.
6. Do you have one room dedicated to your old collectibles? Where is the coffin & your other items such as the beautiful crosses, the photo booth etc?
A lot of the art is up, but the majority of things are either in the garage, storage or sold. It was just time for a new vibe. We wanted our house to feel like a hotel. The living room is kind of like the lobby. The intention is to feel like we are on vacation all the time. We do.
7. I'm loving the book cover. You think you might sell some autographed copies to some of the loyal of 6767?
Nice idea. How about I just give some away or have some kind of game where you can win them. Perhaps I can give them away on the air.
8. Dave it says somewhere (can't remember which site it was now) that you carry a little tape recorder round to tape any funky noises that you come across, do you still do that? Is there likely to be any of these sounds on the new album?
That's right I did used to do that! Thank you for the reminder. I'll have to start that up again.
9. I would upload it for you, but I don't know how maybe one of our Wizards in the Family can work that out for us, also I'm not sure that its legal...
I'm all for the sharing people.
10. As it being Friday the 13th bad things are meant to happen. I think of it being a good luck day myself. Are you superstitious at all?
Actually, 13 is my lucky number.
Peace,
DN

Jacket Cover
So the CPS finally aired. Thank you for your kind words. I found it so funny how I went from arrogant and cocky, to completely devastated in 2 short hours. Those guys were all really cool. Seth is a great player. The good news is that I get to go back and play for my charity again next season. It actually films this month. They edit the hell out of those things. The actual game is like 6-8 hours. After my "bad" fold, I went on what they call "tilt". Just completely unable to think or reason anymore. That, combined with exhaustion and hunger made for a losing combination. I have to admit, it was a lot of fun to watch back. I got SO serious about it. I'm really looking forward to next season.
I'll answer a few tonight as I have a very early day tomorrow. I'm going to miss my coffee, nicotine and 6767 time in the morning. (A random 10 at a time is my system.)
1. Is there one band that you could definitively call your "favorite"?
Not really but if I had to answer, I'd say... Old school: Led Zeppelin, New school: Nine Inch Nails
2. What song is that you're playing (studio video), is it named yet?
That one is, "She Won't Last".
3. Dave, would you consider yourself a neat freak?
Yes, definitely!
4. I remember reading a while back right before TNO came out, that you didn't want anyone to think you would be releasing a "guitar hero" album. Well, think you'll ever make a "guitar hero" album? I know you're at a good point in your life, but I need some dark, moody music from you.
A lot of the new stuff is pretty f#@!ing dark. I don't know if it is heroic, but it is very guitar heavy.
5. I've a couple of great quality bootleg RHCP gigs on cd with Dave on guitar.circa '95,'96.Is it o.k. to share these?.Don't want to get into copywrite bother.
As long as you don't charge anyone, share away...
6. Will there be more Camp Freddy radio this weekend? I'll call in and say hello and try to answer any questions :)
It's on! I think the number is 1-877-4LA-1031.
7. For example, do you have or would like to have a personal photographer?
I'm not really feeling the personal thing.
8. The book you have coming out, how did people react to being asked to come in and go into a photobooth?
Mostly really good, If they weren't into it I just had them hold something in the frame like a purse or a stuffed animal.
9. Oh yea I gotta know If that was that u wistling on cf saturday night when u was playin ur little guitar?
It was.
10. Dave... any idea when we can start hoping for a TPC tour?
Well, I'm hoping already, but I'd like to see at least a fall or winter string of club dates. We will be playing way before a record comes out so I will let you know as you can imagine!
Love,
Dave

A Quick 10
1. Dave who composes in the new group??????
It's mainly a group thing. We either jam or work off a riff that someone has.
2. I was wondering if you still spend time or have plans to collaborate with Manson and/or Twiggy and if it's hard to be around people who are still notorious 'partiers' while being past that personally?
Actually, if you look at the studio video in the download section, (I know it's dark) you can see Twiggy "routing me on" behind me.
3. I had a question about collaboration. I think I remember reading that you consider Billy Corgan a friend, and I know you are tight with Maynard, so through either of these guys have you had a chance to jam with James Iha? I've not heard him outside of SP, but what he did with them was most excellent for sure.
I have not, but he just finished a tour with A Perfect Circle. I jammed with Billy once. That was funny. We were both trying to solo at the same time. Talk about a clash of egos! It was all in fun.
4. What was it exactly that caused you to have such low self esteem all those years ago?
I don't really know for sure. A lot of things I suppose. The good news for anyone struggling with l.s.e. is that with faith, you can get through to the other side of it.
5. Do you ever look back at the 03 tour and feel like it was truly a shell of what it once was? Do you not feel that Ezrin was a bad choice?
I never compared. Honestly it was just a different thing and I ultimately had a really great time and found myself truly inspired. Bob Ezrin was amazing to work with. There is only so much he can do, we wrote the songs. I appreciate the change in tone from your earlier posts. God bless.
6. Do you even remember middle of the night, sick? I'm glad to see you doing so well.
Oh yes! I'll put that clip up in the downloads section. I'll say "hi" to LD for you.
7. Dave have you ever had a panic attack?
Back in the day I used to. Like literally 20 years ago. I remember having to breathe in a paper bag. Just awful!
8. If I showed up would you sign my janes addiction cd?
Sure.
9. Hey Dave ...saw the post a couple of days ago entitled Dentist Appointment and after your comment on CFR - own up - how many fillings do you have?? I ask being British female of 31 with no fillings!
I stand corrected! I do have 1. You got me beat!
10. Dave I hope u kick they a**'s in poker tonight, we'll be watchin for sure!!!!!
Well, I'd hate to give it away... but... perhaps I can interest you in watching something else!!!!
Peace my friends,
Dave

Agency Artwork
Agency Artwork is up! Thank you all for your submissions...
1. When will you start another solo project??
Not for some time, as my plate is really full right now with The Panic Channel and Camp Freddy. I do, of course, plan to do it, I just don't know when.
2. The CFR show this past Saturday was a real laugh fest. Is there a chance of it ever going into syndication?
We would love that, but the matter has yet to come up.
3. I read in a post at MTV or something you'd like to get Josh Todd to come and sing on the CF album. What did you think of his solo album?
Josh is great. I think his solo record is awesome.
4. Do you still speak with LD?
Yes, I do. She is currently moving to the East Coast.
5. WHERE DO YOUR GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM TO CREATE SUCH AMAZING PIECES OF MUSIC?
I just draw upon life experiences I suppose.
6. What did you think of the original version and the released version? (OHM)
Well, I really love both. To be honest, I'm having a hard time remembering Blender, but I recall loving Stretch.
7. But do you get money from the studio everytime the show comes on? (Entourage)
I think so. I don't know how much.
8. We Panic Agents need a plan of action. What exactly will being one involve? Passing out fliers/cds? Passing out questionnaires at shows? Or maybe we can get a petition or drive going for a good cause (such as aids research, drug rehabilitation, care of disabled, feeding the homeless)?
Yes! Of course there will be the obvious pass out stuff. Stickers around town etc. I would love anything that you guys come up with regarding good causes. I'll handle drug rehabilitation, as a portion of the proceeds from my book will go to that. Good thinking!
9. The intro kicks ass! Dave, who gets credit for that excellent work?
That is the work of Steve Isaacs.
10. Have/will you ever work with Jerry Cantrell? I think it would be an interesting combination of styles.
I have. He is amazing. We did a few Camp Freddy shows together.
Beautiful Day,
DN

Thank You
Just amazing. The amount of love here. Thank you all so much for the willingness to be a part of this thing we are doing. It is very exciting as we are doing this all ourselves (you guys and us four). Chaney is going back to Canada tomorrow so Steve and I are going to try to get some more information and content up on The Panic Channel. I am also really excited about getting the artwork page together. I have been sent so many cool logos from you all, I want to make sure they get their due time and life in cyber space. Looks like I am going to have to put my conspiracy/unsolved mystery vibe to rest. This week we should have a permanent e-mail address and a street team sign in thing. How does "The Panic Agency" sound? Want to be Panic Agents?
1. He seems to have some really cool lyric ideas. Is he writing all the lyrics or are you all contributing?
So far, Steve has been doing all the lyrics. I'm going to ask him to put some up.
2. What's a bigger rush, playing a killer show or writing a killer song during a jam session?
Two different animals. One is crack and the other is heroin, both really good but they won't eventually destroy your life.
3. Do you have a phobia...or any major fear...
I didn't answer this before because I honestly couldn't think of an answer. I guess that is a good thing. Carmen fears spiders but I won't let her kill one in the house. I capture them and take them outside.
4. Does your musical experience make you more selective, or more embracing about the music you choose to listen to?
Well, I listen to everything so I hear more music, but I am much more selective with what I choose to love.
5. There are a lot of theories on crop circles, the main being that they are done by hoaxers. Any theories yourself on that Dave?
As much as I know that many are hoaxes, I choose to believe in the phenomenon.
6. BTW Dave, when will the CF album be out?
Hey, yeah! What about that? I'll have to talk to Morrison about it. So far, it's killer, we just need to finish it up. The good news is that when it's done, a lot of it will be downloadable, as we are going home grown with it.
7. Dave, where did you buy the pants you wore in the Just Because video?
Those are done by a company called Electric Barbarella.
8. This is probably a strange one to ask, but I work for Clapton and just wondered what you thought of him as a musician/guitarist.
I think he is one of the all time greats! I really love his work in Cream.
9. And since there's talk of a show, how soon do you think it'll be before you hit the other coast?
You never know. Right now there are no plans, but I know that we want to do a lot of playing before we record. It could happen. I would love to get out there.
10. I'm already running the project 6767 bios. It would be easy for me to compile a people for a street team page.
Dude, you rule. I'll let you know when we get our stickers and shirts done.
Peace,
Dave

Monday: Back To Work
Well, that was a great day! It looks as if we are planning a show in mid September. We will have a mailing list soon to notify everyone when and where. I might be able to upload some clips from rehearsal this week. Just little moments and whatnot. We are also getting ready to start up a street team in the near future, I would love it if some of you could grant us some time to help out. Oh yeah, the Indie petition is killer, I signed it myself. I will speak to the program director myself next Saturday about archiving the show. What a great idea. Also, I checked out Sophia's dream site. Trippy. Sandy, my heart goes out to you. You know I have been there. Thank you to Stephanie for the great logo work. I'll be sure to use them soon. I am getting so much cool stuff from all you creative geniuses. That should be a new page. All the art that has been sent in. I'll get on it. I finally added Pony's link. Sorry for the delay.
1. A friend of mine told me that you were either learning how or had learned how to project yourself or an image of yourself and visit people in their dreams. Is there any truth to this?
God, I would come across as so deep and interesting if I said yes, but no, I have never tried nor will I attempt to do such a thing. Dreams are sacred. I would never want to interfere.
Goodnight friends,
Dave

Will Spread For Unicorns
So, today is a full day again. We are finally going back into our rehearsal space after a long week off. I apologize that I am unable to get to the questions today, but I must say that I am so impressed with the way you have all been so supportive and helpful to one another. Such an incredible vibe here. Pony and Paper, I have been there too. Paper, your choice of being there for the others is really the best way out of a funk. Nice going. Pony, every artist doubts him or herself. Just keep moving like a shark. If we artists stop swimming, we will drown in our own self manifested insecurities. All I can tell you is that things get easier as you move on. Deena's quote has helped out through many times as I find it not only to be true, but exceptionally funny. By the way, Deena, who said that originally?
"The greater the artist, the greater the doubt. Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize."
I can't tell you how many people have stopped me to say how rad that is when I wear that sweatshirt.
Here are some of the answers that are quick and easy as I am already late: My favorite Beatles album is a tie between Revolver and the White Album. As for rocking with Michael Jackson, it was a really cool experience. He was very kind and humble. The G'n'R feud? Crap. I always thought they were amazing. It was just a different time back then. It was more than likely a mutual jealousy more than anything. The following lyrics: " I wanna taste your saliva, I wish that you were my daughter, I wish that I was your father, we could keep secrets." The best way I can put it is, when you are so in lust, you almost want to go dark and wrong. It was a metaphor believe me! (I should have chosen a new paragraph for this.)
Have a beautiful day, I will check in later as I am always all "amped up" after rehearsal.

A Great Time
We had a great time last night at the station. Cheers to Colleen for calling in. That was killer. We start up as a band again this week as Chaney returns from his session in Vancouver. It has felt like two months that he has been gone.
1. Hey Dave do you like guitar virtuoso guys like malmsteen , vai and Michael Angelo?
Sure I do, it's kind of like guitar porn.
2. Dave, do you like camping?
I'm not really a big camper. I need electrical outlets.
3. Is there a guitar only version of "fighter"? Id love to hear the solo but its turned down in the mix.
No, I don't have one.
4. Dave, are you a spiritual person? Do you believe in a higher power?
I try to be and I do. My higher power is one of my understanding. I pray on a daily basis.
5. Hey, what is the longest you've been without sleep (and perhaps why)?
When I was doing a lot of drugs, I think I did an 11 day stretch. Thank God those days are over. I average between 6 and 8 hours a night.
6. With your experience, is this a good way of copywrite? Or how do you protect your music with copywrite issues/keeping fresh ideas safe?
I heard somewhere that if you send your ideas in the mail to yourself, the postmark acts as a temporary copyright, provided you don't open the package. Look into it before you take my word on it. I have always been bad about that. Thank God the people I work with are so on top of things.
7. Dave, when you started out in music, did you or your bands ever get any harsh criticism that made you think, "Damn, maybe I should just quit now" or "Hell, Im not good enough, Im wasting my time" ???
I have definitely felt that way, but I would never quit. I just have too much fun doing it. That IS what it's about. Doing something creative that you enjoy.
8. Curious as to how you reacted to Guitar World (I think) claiming your guitar style to be as original as that of The Edge. Compliment? No?
I never saw that but I do see it as a compliment for sure. The Edge is just incredible!
9. When will 6767.com visitors be able to hear a sample of "The Panic Channel", even a work in progress?
We have had the last week off, but we are going to film our rehearsals next week. Maybe I can put up a clip soon.
10. I got a cold and I gotta perform tonight... How do you handle sickness on tour? This sucks...
You just have to deal... "The show must go on." I'll bet a song or two into it, you won't even remember you feel sick.
Have a great Sunday...

CFR Indie 103.1
Tonight is yet another edition of Camp Freddy Radio. Michael Des Barres will be stopping by the studio to talk about an upcoming film festival and perhaps to tell another one of his legendary stories. The show is on Indie 103.1 from 6pm-8pm Pacific. Check the Indie 103.1 link for web simulcast. We love to take calls, so those of you in another time zone, be aware that there is a 8 minute delay on the web.
1. Who is doing the singing on deconstruction? I’ve always assumed it was Eric Avery except on Big Sur.
It is Eric Avery with the exception of Big Sur, which is yours truly. I also handle most of the melodic harmonies and outro stuff.
2. Do you plan on doing any vocals anytime soon?
Well, most of that will be Steve I in the Panic Channel, but I will be doing a lot of back-ups and harmonies.
3. How do musicians in your position get paid? I realize you receive royalties from your prior work, but how do you receive them? Like every month? From who? For publishing rights etc.?
Good question. It is certainly not from selling records, I can assure you. I would say mostly from touring.
4. Can you give us an update on any CF all-star lineups (ex. Morrissey) in the works?
No because that stuff really falls into place at the very last minute from show to show. I know we have a couple of shows booked for September, but we haven't even thought about who might join us. I can tell you that Perkins will be sitting in, as Sorum will be out with Velvet Revolver.
5. Is there anywhere that has a complete listing of everything you've done? If not I think I just very well have my next idea for content on my site...
There has got to be somewhere. I know I couldn't even begin to remember everything. Try here. They seem to have a handle on all that kind of stuff.
6. I am an aspiring screenwriter. I wrote a script that I think you would be perfect for.
Thank you, I am touched, but I am not really looking to do any acting. Good luck.
7. How does it feel to have done something so amazing and so mind blowing to the world and realizing that you were so young!
Really great. I am so grateful to all of the people I have been blessed to work with. I owe my career to so many great and talented people. I do thank God.
8. What does a record company do when a band has signed on for 4 albums or something and they break up before releasing all of those?
I don't know... but I should have an answer to that within the next few months... (gulp)
9. Of all your very interesting and awesome tattoos, which one do you like the most or do you feel has the most meaning?
Right now it is my latest one. It says, "eleven twenty-two". Our wedding date.
10. The loop from Saraswati is quite cool, as it’s long enough and already have some variations in it. I wud recommend that one to start with, and get some of the other loops converted to be used as fills or extras. If someone could av a look to that Saraswati loop, and come up with some kind of structure...
Sounds good to me FreAk.
Love…

Time For Dateline
Thanks to White Pony for the new domain and the FAQ page. Nice going.
1. Just wondering if you have any favorite Hillel Slovak songs from the chili peppers, I remember you used to play Backwoods live.
I love the Uplift album.
2. How'd you get hooked up with Billy Morrison?
Known him for several years now from "around". We first started Camp Freddy a few years ago at the request of Donovan to open a hotel. We have been jamming together ever since.
3. How do u feel about parodying Paris Hilton now that she has been beaten up?
I feel like an insensitive jerk. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I sincerely apologize. I still think she is adorable...
4. Are you planning on going to the MTV VMA's this year, & if so, will you be doing anything on stage?
Yes, I am and no I am not.
5. I know you have been around the music scene longer than we have so is this sort of drama typical?
I wouldn't call it typical. Sounds like an unstable situation. I would seek the legal route.
6. How do you feel about Carmen getting the most pause worthy female award?
I think she deserved it of course.
7. Curious, when did you tape your "acceptance speech" for the MTV Reality Awards?
Like 2 or 3 weeks before it aired.
8. ¿Have you ever seen RADIO DAYS, and if so, what do you think of it?
Love Radio Days.
9. I was watching the rock superstar video of Camp Freddy and it looked like you were totally into it. Would have ever done that if you hadn't met Carmen.
Well, I for sure would have, but I met Be Real through Carmen and we became friends. So in a way, I have her to thank for that.
10. Have you ever come up with a guitar part when your jamming away that you thought was really cool, only to realize it's already been done by someone else.
Of course. That happens to the best of artists. Don't worry about it, just keep plugging away...
Goodnight,
DN

Scandalous
First things first. Pony, thank you for hooking up the FAQ page and the new domain. I know we are all looking forward to it. Your efforts, I sincerely applaud. Secondly, the picture. Rob K got it right. There is a moment on the Paris Hilton tape where she leans in to the camera and says, "Hi." As much as I cannot endorse Rick Soloman's blatant disregard for their relationship and total lack of respect, I must admit that, yes, I have seen the film. It is the frame in question, which I find to be just downright adorable. If I were to be manipulative and justify my action, I would say that my picture is nothing more than homage to her sweetness in a sea of misfortune. Plus, it's just funny. I suppose it is a coincidental salute to Bonnie.
1. What kind of acoustics do you prefer?
The Yamahas are pretty tight.
2. I’m wondering what is a "normal day" for you? And do you and Carmen get to spend a lot of time together? Or are you both busy a lot?
We spend most of our evenings together and weekends. A typical day consists of the gym, rehearsal and quiet time at home. Carmen works so much too, that by the time we get home, we are pretty down to stay in.
3. Have you in the past gone to a therapist or counselor on a regular basis?
Oh, yes. I think there is a picture of me in the DSM-IV.
4. How do you solve a fight between you and Carmen, and what do you do or go?
We don't really "fight" all that much, but when we have a disagreement, we focus on what "our" specific parts are in it instead of assigning blame.
5. Are you planning to come to Vegas any time soon..So I can randomly bump into you and Carmen?
I am going for some poker tournaments at the end of this month. The Rock Star one with Tommy Lee and Johnny Rzeznick and the next season of CPS.
6. Are you a Radiohead fan? If so, what's your favorite Radiohead album?
Yes, I love Kid A.
7. ¿What do you think is the sexiest part of a woman?
I honestly believe that each woman has her own thing that is most sexy. Sometimes it is her voice. Sometimes it is her intellect. Sometimes they are just smokin' and it really doesn't matter!
8. Is there a Celebrity that you admired & were nervous to meet?
Not really. I suppose I would freak out if I ever met Woody Allen.
9. Since I believe deconstruction is out of print is it legal for me to post the songs on my site?
I don't know if it is legal, but go ahead and do it. If you ever get s!@# for it, use this answer as a legal loophole to get out of it. It'll be my fault.
10. I don’t know if this has been asked before or not but: what’s your favorite Woody Allen flick?
Stardust Memories.
Have a great day...

"Hi"
Hey gang, how's it going? So Pony, for some reason I have not been able to put your site as a link. I'll figure it out. Perhaps there are only 10 spaces for links on the TypePad thing. I would, however, really appreciate it if you created a FAQ page. That would really be of most valuable help and I thank you in advance, should you decide to do it.
1. So, we were wondering, what gauge are your nipple rings because that looks like a good size to aim for.
Honestly, they have been in so long, I really don't remember.
2. About your 'spread' horse theme/logo... there is an element of your soloing that whenever I hear it, I have always clearly seen wild horses running toward me, going crazy, screaming. Is there a relationship between the two?
No, not intentionally, but I like the analogy.
3. got TNO yesterday, awesome, but, 'the fuck is making those noises on Everything? sounds like baby flying monkeys on crack with the flu... *hides*
A Diamanda Galas sample.
4. Dave, what's the best guitar ever made?
There are many for different types of playing. It's all about taste. I love, Strats, Les Pauls and PRS's.
5. Hey Dave, Guitar Player or Guitar World magazine? Which do you prefer?
I don't really read those so it is hard for me to choose. Guitar Player just seems more "O.G."
6. And what's a good starting point to writing my own lyrics?
It's an old cliche but it happens to be true... "Stick with what you know."
7. ¿If you kept photographs of all of your "experiences", would you rival Gene Simmons?
I hope not, he's got 20 years on me!
8. What is the hydro-colon therapy experience like and do you think it helps?
Well, it definitely feels cleansing, but as to whether or not it helps, I'm not sure. It's worth a try if you are interested, it certainly does not hurt.
9. I am not giving up on my dream, but I dunno if this LA art school is worth the cost of a private university if the reputation isn't as grand...though I don't know what to do...I may just apply to have another option...
Try to be grateful that you have options. It should make the decision factor much easier.
10. mary kate or ashley?
Mary Kate. No question!

Dentist Appointment
Hey all. Sorry I couldn't get to more questions. As I said before, I just kind of go down and answer at random. Good point FreAk. Should we all just go with the 98 tempo idea? Might make things easier. Let's settle on that then. We can see how far we can go with what we have and if it doesn't work out, we can go to plan b and decide on a program that we all use. It should work out though. Has everyone seen this? This guy is really funny. Anyway, I hope you are all well and once again, thank you for your support, interest, sharing and ideas.
1. I've always wondered if Celebrities get crazy people coming to their house and never leaving them alone (obvisouly). Do you and Carmen get people like that?
We really have not had to deal with that. It has happened in the past at my old house, but apart from the uncomfortable, "you gotta go" talk, the experiences were at their core, nice enough.
2. hey man, i was wondering what amp and what setup you have been using for those smaller jam sessions your new band has been doin.
Pretty much the same thing with a half stack instead of two fulls. Marshal JCM 900, wah, chorus, delay, octaver and the white PRS.
3. I was just wondering if you are drug and alcohol free, is it cool with other people doing stuff around you? And does Carmen like to have a drink now and then?
Yeah, I'm cool with it, provided a needle doesn't come out. Yes, Carmen does drink every now and again. All good.
4. Did you have a practice routine when you were younger and coming up?
Not really a routine, I just played a lot.
5. Just read on imdb.com that Carmen is thinking of getting a breast reduction. It also quotes her as saying "he (you) actually wants me to get them bigger but I said no". True or false?
Ha! I said it, but I was of course, joking! I back whatever she wants.
6. I have often wondered, for someone who is "drug free" how do you handle it if you go to the Doctor and they prescribe drugs (which mine seem to LOVE to do!)?
As long as it doesn't mess with me from the neck up, I'm cool. Antibiotics - yes, Xanax - no.
7. Just wondering, Dave, do you sleep in your nipple rings, or take them out before you go to bed?
They stay in at all times. They are not so easy to take in and out.
8. Do you ever visit fansites & stuff like that about you &/or Carmen, or is it a little too strange?
Well, I look at the Carmen pages more than the Dave ones. I guess I am just a bigger fan of hers.
9. Hey Dave. What's the best way to get rid of unwanted chest hair?
Wax or trim. DO NOT SHAVE.
10. hey, Dave! could You tell something about Your cooperation with Andy Dick?
He is just the funniest mother f@#$er! He is really great and I have known him for years. Perk and I stopped by the set of The Assistant and had a blast. That should be on in a few weeks.

Banned from the Holy Land
Thank you all for the submissions and lyrics. I'd say, start tweaking and layering if you can. If this doesn't work, we might have to decide on a specific program to use. There are a few loops and some bass sounds posted. Have a beautiful day.
1. What do you mean "let back into the Playboy mansion?" What did you do to get banned from the holy land?
Oh, it had something to do with drugs and blood I think I do recall. Not my best evening for sure. Years ago, mind you.
2. my mate said that when he saw you play, some lady came out and started fixin up your hair? True? Details?
True, that was J-9, she would take care of us. She is a great friend. So absurd and over the top, I kind of love it.
3. I read somewhere you said you would like to work with Madonna one day - what is your favorite Madonna song? Have you ever met her??
I have met her and she is really very sweet. I don't have a favorite song, in fact, I don't even own an album of hers, I just think she is really cool.
4. I just heard Jim Rome say you're going to appear on his nationally syndicated radio show "The Jungle" on Tuesday, August 3rd.
Yeah, I think I'm calling in today.
5. Do you only wear makeup on stage, or do you when you go out somewhere? If so what kind of stuff is it.
Usually just on stage or for pictures and stuff like that. If I just go out to dinner or something like that, I go au naturale.
6. Dave,I know Stephen likes to smoke the ganja on a regular basis but I was wondering if you ever sit back and spark a j?
No. To quote Woody Allen, "I smoked a joint at a party once... I tried to take my pants off over my head." I am drug free.
7. I've been seeing this guy named Steve for almost a year but we've known eachother for 5 yrs. He's hooked on coke and seems to be pushing everyone away from him. I don't know what I should do.
That's a tough one. Usually when people get too deep into their drug trip, they have to kind of bottom out on their own. Sometimes, an intervention is successful, followed by treatment.
8. Well, you see I'm in quite the ditch here. I dunno what to do and as your album says "Trust no one" I am trying to do so.
I don't recommend the not trusting thing... it sucks. As for the trip, do what you feel is right for you.
9. I know you've been in a few TV shows and a few movies... Any chance you might take on any new roles, or is that something you want to do at the moment?
When something fun comes along I am into it, but I am certainly not seeking any acting stuff.
10. Dave, what is your favourite piece of classical music?
Samuel Barber's Adagio.

Item #1: Navarro Busted!
There are some loop entries if someone wants to start screwing around with them. Bass anyone?
1. Was the "Good-bye" scene (from before you went on tour) on TDDUP staged? Some fans think MTV made you film that (after you had already returned) to help tie the story together. There are quite a few clues that support this theory. Would you like to come clean?
That is so funny that you noticed that! Yes, It was, in fact a totally staged scene and blatant deception. That's why Carmen was so "comfortable" about the whole thing. We actually came clean about that in the audio commentary on the DVD. You guys are too smart, I love it. I will tell you in all honesty that the scene in question was the only one where we had to "tie" anything together. Everything else was as real as it can be with a film crew around.
2. This has probably been asked hundreds of times already, but where did the symbol come from?
Well, apart from us just thinking it looks cool, it is actually a "c" a "t" and a "p"... "Channel the panic." A place to work through angst by utilizing an artform such as music. "To channel the panic." as it were.
3. I read somewhere, once upon a time, that when you and Carmen went out on your first date she was a little taken aback because you had a shovel or ax or something strange like that between the seats of your car. Is that true?
No, not true. I think I said somewhere that it would be funny to be on a first date, and stop by the Home Depot or a hardware store and pick up a shovel, some duct tape, rope and rolls of plastic, then proceed to drive out to the desert. I was, of course, joking.
4. Now that you have found Carmen do you find it hard to write lyrics? I met the woman of my dreams and now have the worst case of writers block. I don't know how to write a happy song. Any ideas?
Well, I have found that there is no end to the experiences I have had to draw from. Even though I am happy and grounded, as it were, my whole life is fair game in terms of inspiration.
5. Hey Dave I'm getting married on Saturday, August 7. You seem to have a great relationship, is there any advice you could give me?
Try to love the qualities in each other that can get on your nerves... Communicate and be vulnerable.
6. Back in the day, when you were into metal, who was your favorite shredder?
Pretty much Ed Van Halen, Dave Murray and Yngwie Malmsteen.
7. speaking of make-a-wish, I tried asking you by email last year, but never got a real response...I was wondering if you could share anything about Adrienne Wilson with me.
Well, I never got to really know her all that well, but the few times I did meet her I could easily see that she was a sweet soul and a young spirit. Passionate and more full of life than most people. I have no doubt that she will return in one way or another as her work is not done here. She has a lot to teach about courage and strength to this world.
8. The article mentions the Spread video you were making which evently gave you a reason to live. Is there any chance we can ever see this video. It is after all the one thing that saved our hero.
Now that is a scary thought as I honestly do not know where it is! Thank you for reminding me about it. I shall look for it in the garage.
9. Also I am wondering if now that you are clean if you are allowed back at the playboy mansion?
I think so, I am not sure. Hef came to our wedding so I am assuming it's all good. Then again, I AM married so it might be like taking sand to the beach, with the exception that in this case, I already have the finest sand in the world.
10. I guess my disgusted notion of the administration's effect on our information sources turns me off to 'panic channels' & maybe that's why I don't like the association with some great musicians I admire...
Point taken, but if you look at our logo (#2), it is a bit more on the solution side of things and of awareness, rather than in line with any administration. We are not politically fueled at all. The applications are open, but a worldwide notion in the context of personal outlets are to us the first pieces of the puzzle. Plus, it just looks cool! Ha ha!
Off to take on the day,
DN

Nap Time
Great Angel recording FreAk!!! You Rock! Really very impressive. BTW: There is a new Loop Link for the jam...
A random few:
1. Any thoughts on doing another solo album after the new band releases some stuff?
Absolutely! I'd like to do an acoustic album with some electronic overdubs. Stripped and raw, kind of how TNO started out.
2. And in the song REXALL you say "never want another wife"... I was wondering if you were saying that because of your last wife and did that apply when you met Carmen?
Well, it wasn't about my last wife it was about relationships in general. I don't know what I was thinking, I was just in a dark place. No, it does not apply to Carmen. I have since moved on from those times but I love having the documentation of them.
3. PS, could I possibly steal your videos and embed them into my site when I am through updating it?
It's all good.
4. But the amusing quote below the image made me wonder...Is that what you´d say TNO was all about like in a nut shell? I mean if you were asked about it today?
Ha! That was me just being a smart ass. Sometimes when you do a lot of press you get into a zone where you just try to keep yourself entertained, never realizing that people will actually read it. I think it's hilarious. Anyway, no, not really... but kind of? (J/K) The album is so much deeper to me, I think I was just bored when I said that. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I needed a good laugh!
5. Was that Foreigner T-shirt from Lo-Fi?
It was indeed.
6. Though the guys are all great musicians, it seems no one seems to go outside the LA circle. Do you find that aspect limiting as a musician?
No, because just about everybody here is a transplant from somewhere else.
7. Did Lou Reed ask you to have the clip: "A velvet underground song" before Venus in furs or was that someone else's idea?
That was a sample of Nico before she did a Velvet song live. I did however, get permission from Lou Reed himself to do the song. I had dinner with him years ago in New York and played it for him. He gave me the green light!
8. Don't take this as an offense, or anything. But did you see any, humm, movies with Carmen before you met her??
I saw a few. I have since seem them all. No offense taken.
9. When do you expect new album may be released? Like in December or later?
That all depends on how we decide to do this. We have been toying around with different ideas. Internet, label, full records, multiple annual EP releases... Music will for sure be shared regardless of the choices way before that...
10. I will put forward Frusciante for my opinion, a modern genius. That is in no way a dig at yourself Dave I think your talents equal each other from the opposite ends of the guitar spectrum. Have ya heard his solo stuff?
I love John and I have heard his stuff. He is really out there, a true artist.

Frogs: Underwater Cats
Good morning. So, "Saturday In The Park" is a Chicago song? Nice. Anyway, we did that G-Phoria awards thing yesterday. We had a blast. A lot of it was really cool, some of it was really stupid and some of it just plain didn't work. It was my first time with scripted "banter" and to be honest... It's not really my bag. We did, however, have a great time and hung out with some really cool and interesting people. It was an odd mix because it was people like Jenna Jameson and Anna Nicole Smith on the same show with people who created games like Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear series. The funny thing is, after all was said and done, I never got to play Metal Gear 3 or Halo 2. I was just too busy. It was like a 12 hour day, but it was all good. At least I have Sunday off, Carmen is on her way to do another job this morning. That girl works harder than anyone I know. I could never handle being that busy and having to be "on" all the time. I am much too moody.
I am happy that so many of you like the name. We really love it. For those of you who don't, what can you do? I suppose you can't make everybody happy. So what does the name mean? Well, a lot of you got it right. I love the controlled chaos analogy and the Manson reference from Columbine. To a large degree those ideas are correct. As we have stated before, we also think of writing music as channeling. The actual definition of Panic includes words like terror and humor. A channel is also a conduit. A conduit of terror and humor. There is also the blatant state of affairs in the media analogy to be made. CNN, might as well be The Panic Channel. On the other hand, one could go with a more spiritual approach with the word channel or apply the word Panic to push it in a darker direction. I also like the post modern, pop art "TV" angle, as if one has tuned in. A network of the unimaginable or a place to channel fear. Electronics and the spirit world, the inherent duality. Someone posted that we should have called it E! which made me laugh, but it was already taken. I would love to hear from you for more interpretations. For those of you who hate it, do not feel alone as my wife had the same initial reaction. She has since been coming around.
I have been really digging all your posts, art and links. Many thanks to White Pony, FreAk and Kelli for the art, links and community vibes. (As I write this, Carmen has left for work and our little dog is crying. So heart breaking...)
The online jam. I suppose I really need to organize this a bit better. I have set up a temporary e-mail (that will later be destroyed... we WILL create a permanent e-mail) for submissions. I would say that we should start with loops and or drums. In order to keep it all somewhat organized, I will only be looking at the loopy files and will not be answering any questions from this address. I will then post three files at random and then we can vote one which one we collectively like. Perhaps someone can help me keep track of this when it comes time to vote. Hell, we could even work with all three. It is going to be a longshot, but I think it is worth it. Then, we put down a bass track, guitars, a vocal and when you have it the way you like it, I'll throw a solo or a part down too. I really hope that it works. I'd love to be a part of this but I encourage some of you to get going on other tracks together. I'll post the finished products. Hey, it's worth a shot. Should be fun. I have never tried anything like this so bear with me. Let's just see what happens. Either way, we all interact and that is what the net is about.
Answers to some questions in a little while. Coffee on an empty stomach... A recipe for irritability!
Love,
Dave
