Home Again
Just got home from Vegas. I got tattooed at the shop in the Palms Casino... Two bats, one on either shoulder. I will upload images when I get them from Steve I. I also met Manda and her family which was really nice. It was great to feel a little 67 love out there. I played a lot of cards in the poker room at the Palms where I did quite well. I had fun though. This way, I was still in good spirits. I'll check in tomorrow as I need my rest. I didn't get much of that in Vegas.
Goodnight,
Dave

Any of you caught the Derron Brown series, this man is truly talented not sure how he does any of his stuff he just warps your mind watching him :) if you haven't seen him yet you must check him out.
Dave, maybe he can give you a hand with the poker.
Paperdove, I hope your safe and that the time you spend by yourself is helping you work through your troubles, gotta like yourself or at least accept yourself before you can take on the world I reckon.
You know we are always here for you.
Have a great day everyone,

What inspired the song Summertime Rolls? I love that song! Back in the day when I used to listen to Ritual de lo Habitual I was of course much younger than I am now so needless to say some things had a much greater impact. I always wondered what was behind the ditty that followed No One's Leaving? I was so intrigued by that song for some reason or another. I think it had a lot to do with the trance like feel of the drums and bass. I love it! I grew up listening to Jane's Addiction and it's so much a part of my musical past! I listen to Jane's on a regular basis and it truly takes me away. Jane's is a huge inspiration to me! It's a shame Eric and Perry could not make ends meet and now with the recent split it's worse. It really means a lot to the long time fans to see that everyone is doing well and fine and collaborating together. It really hurts me to see this happen. I am glad to see you're doing good nowadays! Do you keep in touch with Eric anymore? On another note, I wanted to add that I've read some talk on this site regarding drugs and their "destructive" nature and felt obligated to comment on this. I really believe people need to stop placing the blame on drugs for the destruction and destructive nature in their life and start accepting the blame themselves. It's like firearms in that firearms don't kill people... people kill people, no? Just a thought! Take care Dave!

Hey Dave welcome home, even though you lost at poker, good to hear the trip was fun..Isnt that the Hart and Huntington tattoo company?I just saw something on tv aboout them not that long ago.Wonder if anyone from that shop will be at the Boston tattoo convention in september-cant wait to see what your new ink looks like!
Posted by: Stephanie at August 23, 2004 02:45 AM
More tattoos! Nice, Dave! Hope you can provide some pics of that new ink! While we're on the subject of tattoos, what is your method of treatment during the healing process? Some people will tell you to use a particular ointment, and others will tell you it's no good. And then some say don't apply anything to your new tat while it heals. Just wondering what works best for you. Glad you had a great time in Vegas, Dave! Everyone enjoy your Monday!

I'm so glad you're back! yeah! :D I missed you. Funny thing, I was going to ask you if you got another tattoo what would it be? and you got two new bats! can't wait to see them.
welcome home.

Bats. Bats are good. What kind of bats, I wonder... big evil doom-terror-beasties-of-the-night, or cute little bats... *ponders*
Glad you had fun in Vegas. I suck more at poker than you so if it's any consollation, you can come over and beat me and laugh in my face any time (:

Hey Jerry.
I am sure that someone who is on drugs says to themselves at a young age "I want to take drugs and destroy my life, and the lives of everyone around me.
Unfortunately life is not as simple as you are trying to make out.
Take care

Hi Dave & all
Good to see you're taking your early exit from the game so calmly. Something for me to learn :)
I strongly agree with Sandy regarding the priority of your fantastic charity achievement (well, didn't that sound politically correct!).
Dave, what's your favorite VU w/ Nico song? Does Lou top all the others in the band by miles? He seems to be your favorite.

Welcome home, Dave. Good to have you back. I was flying down the turnpike last night with Nothing's Shocking blasting and I just wanted to make a point of thanking you for Up The Beach. The music in that is like medicine to me. I love it so much.
Sherry, I'm sorry you lost your mom. I don't know how I'd ever get through that myself. I would be devastated beyond anything that could be put into words. I'm glad you have such a great husband. I guess you just have to give yourself time to heal, and maybe let it be okay that it's going to take a long time. Best wishes!

Kara...i agree with you...i, too, am envious of manda's pic with dave...my time shall come lol.
i agree with David above who said to Jerry that drugs aren't really a concious decision to destroy your life. a lot of people think of it as the opposite...a way out of pain and misery and something to improve, and then it gets way out of control. if you look at it in a certain way...everything is a drug, and we're all addicted to something be it food, television, exercise...anything can be a drug. so i feel more sympathy is needed...however...jerry...i do agree about the gun thing...that's just insanity...people shooting other people...most drug addicts are just satisfied to hurt themselves.
thanks for listening to my ramble. i'm sorry you lost dave...but you still got a lot of money for a great charity! what's with everyone busting on your tattoo's on CPS though...it seems like they're fixated on them lol...alright...enough talking from me...bye bye everyone!

Dave,
Sorry to hear about the game. Just curious what stakes you usually play at table games and if you prefer limit or no limit? Don't feel bad about busting out early. Tournements have a lot to do with luck. If you don't catch some cards early you can't get through the blinds. Ok now am I telling you stuff you already know...
Family,
Good morning. Thanks for all the love you've been throwing my way. Things are starting to look up for me and I don't know what I would do with out all my msn homies to keep my head up. So a big hug to all of you!
Much love as always.

Dave,
I will probably be at the upcoming VegasRockStar Poker Tournament at the Palms from Aug 26-28, both as editor for the upcoming INVEGAS magazine, (www.INVEGASmagazine.com) and in coordinating access for FUEL for the events (not sure about the rest, but Carl Bell is a Las Vegan and should be there. Brett and Kevin are for sure NOT, as they have personal plans..Jeff is a maybe).
I look foward to the opportunity to touch base with you and would love a short interview for the magazine, if possible. Basically we just like to ask celebrities a few questions on WHY THEY LOVE VEGAS. WOuld absolutely love using you and your wife on the cover of the Premiere Edition! Hey Dave.
Glad you had some fun in Vegas.
While we're on the subject on tattoos, how would you feel if I were to get one of the Spread logo? Like Ville Valo said "It's not about stealing, it's about sharing" (: So I was wondering if you'd like to share?
I've taken a liking towards the Spread logo, as the 'S' that surrounds the unicorn doesn't just mean 'Spread' to me, it's also one of my initials and I've worn it on t-shirts and hats forever (it's good PR for you too, Dave, as everyone always asks me what it means ;)
I have yet to figure out exactly where to put the tattoo, though, so it may take me a while. Back in the 'old 6767.com' days I always wanted to steal your 'Trust No One' tattoo. Luckily I've grown a bit less cynical since then (:

Hey dave, Hey all:O)
Had a bat encounter myself at the weekend. My roomies cat brought one into the house on friday night...and it was still alive!!! It started flying round the living room before hiding under a sofa. It was just staring out at us from under the sofa, eventually managed to grab it and put it outside where it just flew off into the trees.
It was a surreal experience especially as we'd both been drinking (Me and my room mate, not me and the bat!)
Dave I've read somewhere that you're a big Fiona Apple fan, any chance she'll be appearing on the CF album. That would be cool!
Peace to all
Matt ;O)
Posted by: Matt at August 23, 2004 08:08 AM
Wow! BATS! cool...!
I was wondering, Dave... Have you ever been invited to play the role of a VAMPIRE on a movie? I mean that would be just so perfect! How come no one ever thought of this...? I must be a genius then. LOL
I few years ago I read this Role Playing Game book about vampires called MASQUERADE and they had like vampire clans and shit. I thought Dave could easily fall in the TOREADOR category if he was a vampire.
TOREADOR are those who love ART, and BEAUTY and SENSUAL PLEASURE. Those who are witty, sophisticated, urban and charming. Yep. Sounds like Dave to me... ;O)
Anyone familiar with this peculiar "vampire mythology"? This shit is really cool and the drawings on the book are just amazing (done by an artist called TIM BRADSTREET, I reckon). I didn´t even play the game but the book was great so if you, Dave - or anyone else in the 6767 family - wants to check it out I strongly recommend it.
p e a c e, o h c r e a t u r e s o f t h e n i g h t !

Dave,
Hey man! Sorry to hear about your loss at poker. How do you do at blackjack? What's your favorite table game in Vegas?
OK, more serious question at hand here. I think I might have talked the wife into me getting a new guitar in the next few months. I've been looking at PRS's and Gibson's. When you run through your gear, you list your PRS as a 9-gauge. To the non-professional, is there a model that is comparable, as I can't seem to find a #9 on their website (http://www.prsguitars.com). Is your PRS custom-made, or a standard model someone like me could find? Any more information you could offer would be *much* appreciated.
On a related note, I picked up the Guitar Buyer 2005 magazine, with Carmen on the cover and some *very* nice shots of the Pussycat Dolls inside. Sometimes I wish I would have been a photographer instead of a programmer...
Also, you should get PRS to change your link from the JA website to 6767.com. :-) You're listed under the artists directory on their website, but the link still goes to janesaddiction.com. Nothing wrong with that I guess, but this site is so much better, and truly *yours*.
Thanks for the studio clips! It's so motivational to see you rocking out like that man. Keep 'em coming!

While Manda had a Dave encounter in LV, I had a Stephen encounter at the Sunset Junction. I saw this dude walking toward me and I thought, "I recognize that mohawk!" Anyway, I shook his hand and asked him about the "new band." He said great and that was about it but it made my day.
About the Junction: Juliette Lewis and the Licks kicked major ass. Thelonious Monster was amazing as always...Flea came up and jammed the horn for "Union Street." Camper Van Beethoven was good but would have been better if I still got high...and X was better than ever. It was great to see Billy Zoom back with the band after all these years. They absolutely rocked! What a great day.
Dave...I'm proud of you for using your time to make some ends for C.A.N. You are definitely "the man!" But damn, homey! Fifteen minutes! Gonna have to start calling you "Tilter McGee!"

Dave, a quick question about the book. I'm sure it's been addressed before but I couldn't find anything in the FAQs. Anyway, I was in Borders yesterday trying to preorder your book, but when I put your name and the title of the book in to the computer, it said the book was published in July 2001? It always seems to amaze people who come here - and even the 6767 family ourselves - how much support there is for Dave and for each other. The truth is, we have something very important in common, aside from the fact that we all love Dave's music... It's the simple fact that we have a certain level of human decency and respect for one another and, above all else, we never, ever forget that there is an actual person on the other side of these posts with actual feelings.
Yes, Molly, Dave is an actual person. He's not just some character in a band. Sometimes he may be larger than life .. but at the end of the day, he's just a guy. I'm sure he doesn't need me, or anyone, to 'stick up' for him, but please remember when you come here: You don't have to like Dave or his music. You don't have to like anyone who posts here. But, in the interest of human decency and kindness, you should show a level of respect for everyone - including yourself.

good idea crecencia for a 6767 tattoo.
Posted by: ylais at August 23, 2004 03:48 PM
Thanks Ylais. I think you are right. Somethin' tough. I thought that a 6767 tattoo would work, then we could all identify each other outside. you like its a secret club or something.

What about the Panic Channel symbol?
Posted by: Pinhead at August 23, 2004 04:10 PM
We should vote for a Dave's Navarro tattoo (not that i have something agains panic channel)but something that represents him, i'm goint to get my first tattoo and i would love to be a symbol of this community and Dave.(getting better on my english)lol
love you all!

Re: Dave's book. A friend of mine heard that the release date is October 5th, and there might be NY and LA book signings...still tentative.
And Dana....kudos. Molly is wound a bit too tight, poor girl needs a lil shag to get her into a positive headspace.
Posted by: Zero13 at August 23, 2004 05:03 PM
Molly... I'm really sorry that you're so full of negativity that you feel the need to lash out at someone. Try therapy, herb teas, meditation, an honest look in the mirror, going a few rounds with a Sumo wrestler... all excellent methods for exorcising negative, pissy attitudes. But don't come here with anything less than respect for the humans on the other side of the screen... especially Dave. He may not need us to defend him, but you can bet your ass we will.
Dana... ROCK ON!
Dave... Welcome home! :) Kudos on the positive attude and on raising a nice sum for a worthy cause. Glad to hear you had a fun trip, and even more glad you're back! Can't wait to see the new ink. I've always loved bats... and vampires... and even Batman. LOL
Family... on the tattoo idea... My vote is for something that represents Dave, the community and TPC. The Panic Channel logo would be cool... or something incorporating 6767... but with all the talent we have here, I bet we could put something original together. ;)
Much love and RESPECT to Dave and the Family!
Peace,

You're welcome Crecencia! :D happy to be of service.
I'm tattoo a virgin. been close many times but, i could never decide on one i could live with for long. i pierced my own ears, and lots of my friend's too. but, i wore huge earrings for so long. i had a wacky earring thing. and now i react to the things when i put them in my ears. so the holes have pretty much closed up.
you know what would be really cool, getting my first tattoo with Dave! :D
Love Lisa

Holy Crap, Well Hi everyone, I've got so much to catch up on. I'm down in Orlando and this is the first time I've been able to get back online since the huricane. Power went off friday the 13th, came back on tuesday, But my internet is through cable and we couldn't get that back till today. And what's the first site I come to? 6767!!! I'm so addicted. I hope everyone else is okay, this has been a very rough week. I love ckecking in here everyday. And I've missed this so much.
Oh, and Dana.....what a great...hmm...suggestion.

EZ Molly...
Let's go back...There would have been no Jane's Addiction without ALL of the band's members. Even Perry says that when he heard Dave play, he knew that they had something. Without Dave, Stephen and Eric, Perry would still be hawking some bullshit version of Psi-Com. Not to mention the fact that Dave was still a teenager and Perry was already in his late twenty's. Now does that make Perry "superior" or does that just make him a great judge of talent? Or does it just make him a Pimp who exploited the talent of real musicians so he could play the rock-star front man?
Now don't get me wrong, I love Jane's Addiction's music and artistic vision but we don't know what really happened between the band. I wouldn't call anyone of these guys "superior." They all had their parts.
But here is something to think about...How is it that your bitterness has blinded you to the fact that everyone wants to play with Dave? How is it that Eric decided not to rejoin at all? How is it that Dave, Stephen and Chris have decided to keep playing together minus Perry? Shouldn't that say something as to what may have happened?
Stop being so bitter and stop worshipping rock stars. They're just as full of s**t as anyone. Enjoy the art for what it is...Rock and Roll!
Posted by: Steve at August 23, 2004 05:57 PM
I agree with Steve.
If perry was so damn great, then why didn't any pay attention to him in the 30 years BEFORE Eric, Dave, and Stephen stepped in?
Just look at who is still making music, and who is sitting at home playing on their computer. That will sum up where the musical talent is. If perry wants to make an album, he has to make a shitload of phone calls to people who can actually play something for him to sing on. and guess what? perry doesn't have much to say unless he is writing about heroin, his current girlfriend, or being jewish. and then there is that nature/hippy bullshit he wants to pretend who actually gives 2 fucks about. whatever.
Dave rocks. Steve rocks. Chris Rocks. Eric Rocks. Flea rocks. Martyn Rocks. Steve I rocks. and Perry is sitting at home counting the money all those musicians made for him.
So piss off molly. don't be mad that perry's career took a nose dive once he pissed off every bandmate he has ever worked with. he brought it upon himself.

First things first...Dave, we're glad you're back! Hope you had a great time in Vegas, Baby! :) Question for the week: How long have you played poker and who taught you how to play? Random, facinating fact please :)
Manda - how cool is that!? You and your whole fam got to meet Dave. And really cool that you're all fans. (even your mom!) Congrats on getting great pics to make a lifetime of envy for others!
Now Molly....*sigh* now now Molly....are you at all bothered to be this bitter about someone else's life? Does it seem a bit F - A - N - A - T - I - C - A - L or even obsessive? Does this SUCK FOR YOU? Do you think perhaps that you too can move on with your life and onto things that make you happy rather than bitter? Hmmm????
ahem...sorry. Carry on :)
Posted by: Aimee at August 23, 2004 07:09 PM
Hey you guys, forget Molly. We can go back to stepping on her face later. Manda's whole family is watching! *smiles in the direction of Manda's family*
:P

wow...i'm watching "the assistant" right now...man...you are so hilarious on that show...i'm practically crying laughing. did you and andy plan anything out before hand...like breaking the plate?
you are so funny man...everyone remember to watch it!! you'll love it...and oh yeah...were those your real guitars you gave away on teh show? lol
adios everyone...and six7six7...you are so right...perry, without dave et al., would've been a great poet and that's pretty much it...the fact that no one plays with him for extended periods of time, but still play with each other (like stephen, dave, and chris do) show that it might be him, not everyone else...i don't want to say anything bad about the dude...cause i love his music with jane's and i don't know what actually went on...but just by looking at the pattern of teh past, i can completely understand what you're saying.
much love to all

Hi Dave,
Manda is my niece, and I gotta tell you that what you did in LV is the classiest thing I've ever heard of. You are a stand up guy and totally a class act. If you ever get to Fresno drop me a line. I'll cook you a nice dinner too!! Love your work!

"Dave I've read somewhere that you're a big Fiona Apple fan, any chance she'll be appearing on the CF album. That would be cool!"
Luiz and Matt FYI I think I read somewhere that Fiona’s CD got shelved by Sony. Which is sad. She's a great artist and I agree that it would be great for her to appear on CF album.
tiare- Couldn't have put it better myself.
as to the Tattoo’s I think the panic logo is kinda spiffy. I might get one myself. :)
Dave, any head's up on who will be joining you guys on Sept. 4th . Who ever it is I can’t wait. I loved the past two CF shows.

I just saw the Assistant - funny stuff. The kids didn't seem to realize what was going on - lol. They all seemed really nice, though I was rooting for Melissa. She's my favorite. I liked Tanika too though. Mark kind cheated, coming back and all - he already got clipped. Did you know Andy was going to break the guitar you gave to Mark? I would have been so disappointed if that was me. I liked Perk's pots and pans drum set.;-)

Oh shit! I was thinking The Assistant was on Bravo, so I had that channel on and I ended up watching the whole Boy Meets Boy marathon. And Franklin, the one I wanted James to end up with, turned out to be the straight guy. That sucked! It was so good, but then it had that shitty ending 'cause the wrong guy was straight and James ended up with the guy with the little dime nipples (yecch!). And I missed Dave and Perk on The Assistant! :(
Manda, BRING ON GRANDMOM AND GRANDPOP!!! (Hehe!)
Posted by: Dana at August 23, 2004 08:28 PM
just finished watching the assistant awhile ago and i gotta say Dave, you are freakin hilarious!!! i couldnt stop laughing. You rock!!

Hi Dave,
Welcome back! I was hoping to see you again on CP for the entire season! Oh well, you tried your best! ;) That's great about the money you raised.
I happened to catch Eric A this morning on a repeat of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show". Yes, he was backing Alanis. Unfortunately, the second song was cut off because they played at the very end of the show.
Hope you enjoyed my latest batch of Panic stuff. I certainly love designing them.
take care,
itanja

I was watching the assistant with my girlfriend tonight and I about had a shit fit when they broke that guitar. I looked up at my girlfried with these huge pouty puppy dog eyes and said... i want dave's guitar... she said... awe.... ain't that cute...
She just don't get it. But thats ok... you all know what I was feeling.
Well its been a good day but a long one. I have to be up at 5 am for my 12 hour day that after which I will work out.
I'll be online off and on tomarrow. You know where to find me!
Much love

Hey Dave- My sister wants to meet you when you come to NYC in late October. I know your entire lifestory through her. I promised to buy her tickets to your show. Could you hook a sistah up? I'd be very grateful.

yay- i'm so glad you bought the scissor sisters cd, wendybird! yeah, i had heard about them, but once i bought the cd- i was like 'holy effin shit!' haha i am obsessed with the song 'mary'. it's so pretty...yeah, kirsty, i agree 'comfortably numb' sounds like shit haha especially in comparison to the original--- there's nothing like the original--- but it does make me smile a bit :) it's like ace of base- you can't admit you like them, but in the privacy of your car/home, you totally dig it! hahaha
well...i've got 20 hrs worth of driving to do between tomorrow & weds- missouri to tha dirty jerz...wish me luck. i'm gonna be so damn bored!!
hope dirty vegas treated you well, dave & manda. i just went for the first time in my life with my best friend from nj & throughout the wknd we kept cheering, "I love this effin city to I hate this effing city". is it possible to win, ever, at all? the most i won at once was $13.50 haha but we did wind up seeing the chippendales show which was surprisingly HIGHLY entertaining. i was in hysterics & shrieking the whole time--- the one guy was a total justin timberlake rip off- not stripping but doing the in-between act serenades of 'god must have spent a little more time on you' and doing a 'like i love you' dance...HYSTERICAL. a must-see! haha anyway...back to 6767...
LOVE ALL OF YOU 6767-ERS!!!
